Baldur's Gate 3 is officially launching on August 3rd of 2023 but it's actually been out since October of 2020 when it launched on PC and stadia not so not so fun fact here it actually lasted almost as long as the entire stadia system R.I.P to to everyone who who wanted to play stadia I'm sorry to celebrate the launch of Baldur's Gate 3 I thought we could go through some of the more interesting and funny reviews that have come in for the game the the negative reviews let's say [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and honestly it was kind of difficult finding some of these reviews these negative reviews because the game has an 89 overall rating and a astonishing overwhelmingly positive 95 positive rating for the more recent reviews on Steam and the ones that were negative a lot of them were really just upset that it was in Early Access or had completely missed the fact that it was in Early Access and kind of just ignored it or more recently been very very upset about this scene a scene that obviously did very well to get a lot of YouTubers and media Outlets to talk about barter's Gate 3 as well as the bonus of shocking the hell out of people like Josh Drive Hayes who actually attended the panel from hell as well as getting banned from Tick Tock apparently we were banned on Tick Tock because of the bear scene [Applause] but let's jump into the reviews themselves and see what negative things people have to say about the RPG that's looking to be so epic that other developers are already telling us they're not going to be able to make a game like it so it's a weird thing to admit but you know I appreciate it what a flop not a single gratifying memory from this fraction of a game you played 90 out you played over 90 hours in in that entire time you didn't have a single thing that you thought was good about the game not a single memory why did you keep playing what what are you are you okay were you why didn't you stop I would have stopped terrible I don't like it these two reviews made me chuckle because they're just so different on one hand you have someone saying that it's terrible when they played less than an hour so probably just really didn't enjoy major parts of the game on the other hand you had someone that played 59 hours says I you know it took 59 hours to decide that they don't like it 59 hours is a solid amount of time to spend in any game in fact that is a that for time to beat games that's that's a lot especially when you have you only had the First Act to play through it's just a fact it's it's not that they didn't like it after that amount of time it's as much as there's just no extra to it there's no critique there's there's no elaboration it's just I don't like it you know what cheers you're shortened to the point unlike this next review which is very long this is not Baldur's Gate foreign based combat is really boring and the action bonus system is horrible I mean I kind of get where they're coming from the turn-based combat could be a turn off for a lot of players I if you're coming from a system like Dragon Age Origins or even the older Baldur's Gate games you may be more familiar with a system that allows you to kind of move around and and be more active while still kind of honing in on some of the turn-based elements whereas in in this game it's a lot more it's it's very turn based there's no other way to put it if other crpgs are like Checkers then Baldur's Gate 3 to me is more like chess where you're planning out every move in advance and messing up on those moves will have some dire consequences it's much more tactical in your movements and much in a way slower because of that so I get it it's not everyone's cup of tea personally I love it I also love Dragon Age Origins style of combat though I find both good for different reasons but I think if you took try to take the Dao combat and throw that on Baldur's Gate 3 The Way It Is without a system to kind of have your companions like play themselves the same way that they play in Dragon Age Origins where you can set tactics and things like that it would be a disaster can you imagine trying to do that all at once there are too many similarities to Divinity Original Sin 2. [Music] yeah yeah of course there are I think that's I think that's why they were picked leveling up is so simple and dumbed down this is not going to offer the very deep and complex system that DND offers they're they're just trolling at this point right like that has to be a troll I mean I unless they're just playing a very different version of dungeon and Dragons than I have for for years because I I played 3.5 all the way up to 5e 5e being the one that is is kind of being the one that's played homage to in Baldur's Gate 3. none of it felt very deep or complex all the depth and complexity came from the the dungeon master and the story and reacting and how you decided to play things out I'm kind of confused here because DND to me was always more of just a framework it's not like it was Path of Exile style skill trees or something and you only got like a feat every handful of levels and those Feats normally sucked the party members are horribly written and overly theatrical it felt as if they drew tons of inspiration from Broadway in Hamilton with a Starion being very annoying very fast excuse you too theatrical too theatrical and horribly written could be talking about me and my videos but about Baldur's Gate 3 no come on I mean and how dare you say such rude things about sweet murderous vampire asterian look at this stunning man look at where he is look at where he started the he's alive is a miracle one might even say he's not gonna throw away his shot at least the game lets you perma-kill party members which is what I did to him [Music] how dare you I need some time to think things through to process this again the turn-based comment is boring and doesn't Implement well with DND style games [Music] DND is turn based I that's what you do the whole thing is turn-based like from your friend to your your enemy like you know maybe this reviewer would have actually preferred the version of Baldur's Gate 3 that was going to be made by Troika this is literally one of the worst big budget games ever released yes it's in Early Access but there are some things that can't be fixed horrible dialogue boring combat not much graphical improvement over larion's last game slow pot needlessly difficult boring characters there is literally nothing good about this game it's complete and utter trash do not buy do not buy do not buy honestly there is literally nothing good about this review and there is literally no review that I disagree with more I actually write books I have already published three books and I read all the damn time I read because I'm trying to become a better writer and from the very beginning when I started playing Divinity original sin 2 the dialogue and story writing and plots and even the narrator who was who does such fantastic lines everything about it was so well written and so well done you can tell that they take great pains to make sure that they're writing in these games is very very good you can tell with the dialogue from every character that that character is exactly who that character is they are doing so much more characterization in these games than you normally get it is one of the biggest strengths of valerian game the writing the dialogue the characters and the plot fine to disagree and have your own opinion but to say that it's it's horrible and awful it just isn't accurate it there is so much work going into this specific part of the game and yeah I'm really passionate about that because to me someone who writes it's really important and it's a really good example of great writing in video games so I will defend valerian's writing for as much as possible as for graphics Divinity original sin was a really pretty game and Baldur's Gate 3 actually looks better than Divinity original sing so I'm not really sure what the issue is here the needlessly difficult part I'm guessing that's a skill issue I mean I will at least say that early on in Early Access the dice rolls were a bit off and they have improved that I would say that as long as you're saving often it's not that big a deal though speaking of saving often which plays into our next review so you know how autosave was something that became prevalent in the late 2000s yeah larian forgot about that this time party died two to three hours in today and lo and behold the game didn't save once in that period I can't recommend a game that causes me to waste so much time wait let's wait it gets better edit I wrote this review angry it's not a fair reason to not recommend the game still it's too early access for the price it's amazing don't get me wrong but I would advise waiting until full release I wanted to end with that review because I loved it it's like they got really frustrated and upset no it seemed like I mean obviously like that makes sense to get frustrated after losing that much progress which is why I stress like use F5 to save at F5 to save a lot don't rely on Baldur's Gate 3's auto save I think they have improved it since whenever this review was done but make sure you're using F5 judiciously but at the same time like it's kind of you can tell with the tone that they they were playing the game later and really enjoyed themselves and like hey you know what hey that review I left that was a little too harsh I should go back in and edit it there's so few people that actually write reviews in the first place and so for someone to come back and edit their negative review with something positive that was just I just I had to end it that way in the end we're all going to make up our own minds on Baldur's Gate 3. just like any other game for me I'm already sold on it after playing the game in Early Access and I can't wait to spend an unhealthy amount of hours in the game but I came up with this thought after reading all these one star reviews I kind of thought maybe would these players have been happier if we had actually gotten troika's vision of the game instead of larion and if you want to see what troika's Vision was and how it was such a huge departure from the Baldur's Gate series I covered that in this video here my name is Edward Flynn thank you so much for watching and you know reading these negative reviews it can be kind of a downer sometimes so I want to ask all of you to be kind today be kind to yourself be kind to your friends be kind to your significant other be kind to a stranger or it be kind to everyone thank you so much again for watching and I hope you have a wonderful day
