Good afternoon, today I want to interpret for you a fundamental piece for the classical guitar repertoire , such as Lágrima, by Francisco Tárrega. You can find this piece in one of the first videos on my YouTube channel, in which I interpret it, but I never told you about it and I really wanted to tell you its story, analyze it a bit with you and also offer you a new interpretation of it. . It is a piece that is apparently very simple. It has 16 bars. The first part A has 8 bars and the second part B has another 8. And what Tárrega does is an ABA Ternary Form, it is a form that was used a lot in Romanticism. It is in E Major and 3 by 4. It is a ternary tempo and has an innocent, pure character, some very delicate nuances due to its walking tempo and its prelude character; In other words, he composed it with the intention of playing this piece at the beginning of a concert schedule to settle the tonality and to gradually introduce the listener to the concert environment. In the second part B modulates the homonym; that is, -nimo, which means name, homo-, same, same name, if we were in E Major, now it modulates E minor, expressing as if the sky were clouding, like the hidden face of the beautiful things in life, how everything changes in an instant, and probably the pain, because he composed it in 1891 or 1892 and coincidentally on December 22, 1891 his daughter Concepción died while he was giving some concerts in Mallorca. He found out within 3 days of this happening and it caused him tremendous pain, tremendous shame because his daughter had died being just a child. Probably that is why it is called Tear, and that is why it expresses that beauty so pure, so innocent, in that first part in E Major, which later becomes an anger in E minor with those dominant chords with so much tension, but then returns to resolve as a little ray of hope in that return to the first part A. And, although apparently it is a simple piece because it has few measures, little texture, playing all the notes is very simple, but transmitting and seeing it globally, understanding all its phrases, their harmony, their harmonic functions and their tensions and the coloratures that we can extract, that is already much more complicated and much deeper. And that's the way I like to interpret Tear. Taking into account its simplicity and purity, but also its complexity. You can find scores and tablatures of my edition on my website if you want to learn to play it, with my fingerings, indications in the score so that the interpretation and learning is fast, simple and very visual, and if you want me to give you a further tutorial beyond just playing the notes, exploiting that musicality, those tensions, those harmonies ... you can leave it to me in comments. I hope you liked it a lot. If so, you can subscribe, like, comment, and share the YouTube link with your friends. Thank you very much for watching.
