Good afternoon, today I want to interpret for you a music that comes from one of the most beautiful and well-known Soundtracks in the world, that of Zorba the Greek. It is a Greek film that was nominated 7 times for an Oscar and won 3 that proposes the conflict between 2 people, Basil and Zorba, which is actually a metaphor for the conflict between reason and passion. So when Zorba teaches Basil to dance, he is actually teaching him to live. Anthony Quinn, who is the actor who characterizes Zorba, told in an interview that his knee was injured during the filming of the film and that is why they make a step of dragging the leg that in the end remains as one of the characteristic steps of the Dance of Zorba the Greek. Although many think that this is a Greek folk dance, called Hasapiko, danced by Greek sailors and known in ports as Naftiko, it is not actually a Greek folk dance but is inspired by her but in It was actually created specifically for the film by Giorgos Provias, calling this dance "Sirtaki", which comes from the Greek word Syrtos, which names a set of traditional Greek dances. It seems to me a masterpiece of art, both in music and dance, as they created something new, modern and fresh but taking inspiration from that Greek folk tradition.
