The Quacks of Quedlinburg - Game Play 1

[Music] hi everyone welcome to watch it played my name is rodney smith and this is pet mcdonald and we're here for a live playthrough of the quacks of Quinlan Burke or quacks Albert von Quinlan Berg which is my favorite title of it when I was in German or just quack or just quacks yeah which is nice and nice and short and if you don't know how to play this game don't worry we have a tutorial video to show you how to play and we'll put a link to that in the description below we're gonna assume that you do not a play and look even if you don't I mean they'll be able to figure it out right I think so I think so yeah figure out as we go along we believe in you and so I'm playing with blue pieces and Peppa's got the the red ones over here and you are the first player I am so you get to draw the event carpet what do we got here hmm this is shot and throat if your pot explodes this round the player to your left gets anyone to chip okay so this will stay in effect then for the whole round yeah well we begin and the thing about this game is everything simultaneous so we're just gonna be drawing these these ingredients out of our bag here trying to fill our potions out and we we always really don't want to bust this round that's all big the the two chips are worth quite a bit yeah I mean I've heard some people say don't worry about busting your first round in fact maybe it's better than busting your first trying to go as far as you can around the track to get the extra money yeah that might have been my plan before Pocono now the bags are mostly full filled with cherry bumps which are not great you know but I did manage to get one decent they already two three how bad are things going for you too oh you're laughing you got both your good chips in already we do start with like one a pumpkin and one I forget spider thing the green one OS - oops put that there thank oh he's like hold on here there's one chip in my bag that will bust me whatever oh well I don't think it's gonna happen Oh in theory I have to stop no you I'm doing em at six yeah basically everything did you us I didn't but I I will I will bust on the next draw right tube two three four five you don't want to have your cherry bombs total more than seven is it worth it that's the question yeah there's two things in my bag that would bust me I'm gonna stop there and I'll play it safe enough play it safe yeah I always play it safe in this game but the risks I mean not only where I boss might be giving you something you want right yeah I'm playing it safe - okay well then that brings us to the other round so now we have to see who advanced furthest on the journey ages you that was the only reason I might want to try to continue because now you get to roll the die and the next thing here is on the central board we can see exactly what happens at the end of round trip yeah oh that's a nice one exactly so this means yeah your your droplet gets to move a little farther for it so you'll start further forward in your next potions for a very very nice okay so now we would resolve any special ingredients that result at the end of the round and we don't have any of those everyday right so actually do have one but it's way back here way back so this one whoa that only resolves if it's the last or second last right right that's been drawn you're placed in your pot okay so now we we get a Jim if we had one showing on our scoring space as I do son of this is a good round for you a good round but I didn't bust though because that would been a great round for you that's true alright so then we get our points right so I get one point you know yeah okay so we can move our pointer so not a big advantage there for us and after that we think it our money so I'm gonna get eight coins to spend I'll get nine yeah and this is sort of like a fictional money we just sort of have it for now and that disappears at the end of the ramp those two no money I guess oh oh I'll gain all money is fictional money I'm technically well you got real theme fair yeah okay so now we have a little we can do some shopping now in front of us here we have the different potion items that we can we can pick up do you have a sense of what you want to buy you buy two two things but if you do buy two they have to be different I know you got a blue skull whose go that's gonna cost you five and a green chip and a green green will yeah okay yeah adds up to nine ah jealous oh that's gonna go into your bag and I am going to buy a lowly strawberry aloneness strawberry that's a strawberry that is definitely a mushroom oh yeah it's a mushroom it's though I always think this yeah totally nice I will be calling it a strawberry this entire game I often think of the little cherry bombs here I think of those as cotton I don't know why I just think of them as little mounds of cotton but that's that's not true that's not what they are at all okay so these will go back in our bag but we also if we have two gems I don't find us someone you're the table does you can spend that and I will and I'll spend it to advance my teardrop okay all right so I'm just gonna mix that's because that my potions made of Tears now the other thing is that that death comes to me it does yeah yeah I'm going to draw the top card here and give us our new event so this says it's called choose wisely choose to either move your drop at two spaces forward or take one purple chip now you can't take a purple chip when the purple chips have not been unlocked yet and they haven't and they haven't so that means we're gonna move our droplets two spaces forward so not much of a choice there and I would have chosen that image oh yeah I would have as well and I think that's a good thing to point out actually I mean we advanced the ramp marker that unlocked a new ingredient which is this this yellow one here and we'll just say what the ingredients do once we pull it first I think so yeah well kind of explain that part at least as we go along yeah speaking of going along it's time to get strong our next round too white okay I've got all right off to a great start one cherry bomb oh yeah do you ever um you ever like make any enough potions but like go no end up in science class did you ever have to do anything that kind of went awry you don't usually make potions inside what what nothing I can think of when I was young I made a potion i base and a little I think was a Crown Royal bottle without the label yeah it's and I filled it with like water and a bunch of food coloring and stuff I don't remember there's other things like soy sauce I filled it with a bunch of strange things oh I'm in a rough spot right now I'm actually I drew my strawberry mushroom onion or something yeah I only need this the potion I might not be the same thing lastly cuz I just drew my three oh well do we'll do it together I think step three four or five I'm at seven right now I'm not gonna stop there I know I'm gonna stop there you're not gonna use oh gosh I am gonna use it I'm so conflicted do you want to stay so yes we're gonna flip this so we're gonna drinker our little potions Boop and now we can take the last white cherry bomb and put it back on our back I don't mix us up real good or not my girl I always just draw the same one again yes there we go I did did you it's like magic okay here we go okay it's a two this time the problem is two three four five six it doesn't matter I'm on there's two things in this bag that will blow up I would have to draw the three so I think I'm gonna keep going it's risky but I'm gonna keep going as well it's on it is risky Oh phew now this is interesting because if I stop here I for sure will get the gem off of that right yeah I'm glad you could clarify that in science class you don't really make potions that's not technically what they call them really yeah fair point mixtures chemistry yeah yeah I mess up I think I have to I have eleven and eleven wouldn't be the worst thing in the world although twelve would be amazing you know I am gonna draw one more I am I am okay here we go I'm doing it oh I think I just busted one two three four five six seven eight yes yeah I actually had there was one other ship that saved me but I'm gonna keep going all is not for naught of course I draw the three did you bust I did okay but I got a lot of money and I swung at a gym see that's not as hopeful I was really just trying to get some good money off of there but the nice thing about you busting is that you don't get to benefit from the die that's right neither do i though because we both busted all right so we don't get to do the die effect I do have the garden spider I figure if that's called I get in spider yeah and this er moment that's we're gonna call it the green garden spider so I get the gem for that because it's in the last row second last position I think in the gym just just because special I do as well Oh bunny gym my gym bag is full enough and then there were eight we would score or buy with decide because we passed I do I'm gonna buy an abaya I would begin in his body does happen in turn order see you buy for us it's true it's true I need to buy first which could matter yeah with 13 I think what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna take a pumpkin and then I take a level 2 of the strawberry no no no I'm gonna take whatever this skull burt chrome asks a silver discovered yes crow skull just cross go I'm just no wonder it's got a science I can take the black moth thank you mom you have to deaf month and then I've got five more so I take so much money really you're 15 honeydew yeah then jungus okay thank you III think I must spend a couple of these gems do I want advance my to opener I'm gonna refill I'm not gonna refill my a spare my little potion what about you I guess you can't afford to I can't sorry no well we're gonna move to the next round and this will unlock another potion or ingredient that we can add to our bags it's this this one here and again we'll talk about these as they come into the bag if we if we purchase them use them but its own ghost it's now your turn to draw the event it is Jo Jo Jo Oh again choose oh sorry uh rats by your friends team choose take anyone for chip Oh like the sound of that already Wow yeah or one victory point for each rat tail you get this turn we're getting no rat tail yes I'm gonna have any squirrel ear not yet near any so any for chip any for chip I would like the yellow well that's that's exactly the one I was thinking about yeah I like the yellow you see if I can find I see so you're gonna take a four yellow you know I don't be the same as you I'm not to get four masks that's what I'm gonna do okay there all right simultaneous action of these actions time for round three okay oh no it's not time I mean clear on my board yet what you doing just imma keep going the question is what am i doing I wasn't right here the one who's yeah I've fallen way behind there okay here we go mix it up we're starting over for me and I am gonna draw let's see I wanna cherry bombs like okay and oh the cherry binder a blue so hey this is how the blue works oh yeah there's anything on the number so this one's a 1 so I will draw one for my bag and then decide if I want to place it or not right and put it back of course I will and this is an important thing because if you place one it also triggers the effect so yeah I got another blue I would draw another one decide if I want to place it this is funny I'm actually not going to place this right it's a good one but it's not as effective or active right now yeah speaking of knives effective right now I just drew another one of my strawberry mushrooms and it's kind of useless but not as good at this time this is more beneficial when you have some pumpkins already on the board well I am drawing a lot of cherry boss here I've already up to 4 there we go I can't boss which is good it's for this example now say boom boom boom so it goes where it normally would and then if there's a cherry bomb directly before it yeah you can choose to put that back to the bag yes oh this was a good one for me so I drew this now this one has a 2 on it so I get to draw this is like the one you drew before by you to draw two of them got two and decide if I would like to use one of them I can put both of them back in the bag about it like I really should uh put in the three times and I'm putting the three I think I'm gonna put them both back in and just hope I get a little more lucky next time let's see I was confused - right there oh there's I stopped drawing cherry bombs which is good I could bust if I get the three again whatever I'm just not gonna draw the three no no okay I met one two three four I'm at six there's only one chip in my bag that could bust me so I'm not worried that's not gonna happen no there are several chips in my bag that could bust me oh I don't know I just have like a three or there's two there are two are you busted yeah there are two in here that could bust me if I stop I get to roll the die though I think I'll stop here I think I'll stop alright all right so you're you're further ahead of me but you busted busted I will get to I'll get to roll the die and now I got the drop you droplet moving forwards on them push it forward like that which is good for me for later and then do we have any of the other once it would resolve I have a green one out but it's too far back to actually I didn't give me any benefit same with you yeah so then we move on to cherries I are not sure he said gems I don't have a gem I can draw on the indicator to you so we skip past that as well yeah I'm gonna get points so one two three because the point marker there right you can choose to take points or non taking the money think of the money because there's no team money that's a good little chunk yeah you've always had more money to spend than I have I've got 15 I guess you're technically first aren't you do you know I am yeah I'd like the black month and the the two green chip yeah I think I'm gonna have to take a black moth see the thing is inter of the black moth and we might get a chance to see this laters once it's put into play you compare how many you have to the people beside you or you have table right so yeah yeah I don't want you get to four how was your evening - green - okay the green one so the green I have five more I could spend I think I will spend it on a green one all right so everything's going back into my bag we also advanced to the forefront we're just humming along here so I'm gonna loss going super fast already almost halfway there last round will take a little longer problem I don't know that I ever made potions when I was younger but I do recall I mean other than like just taking like ingredients around the house of tried making wacky drinkers yeah yeah which I still do today although I am I have had things not explode on me but like you ever try to boil milk bring milk to a boil yeah I know this is rough this that is a very active I did it's your first one weapon out there so you will get to see how this works at this my three came out already but it was all go probably got a pumpkin early oh that's good that's good it's gonna be good for my strawberries later okay my first bad one little cherry bomb another cherry bomb oh they're piling up and I was stuck together what's going on green one it's good this is a long time okay one two three four this cherry bombs not three four five bad things I know I can't explode that's the thing about this game you are in control of whether you below up or not really like you can stop before it's gonna happen it's whether or not you can stop yourself that's the issue oh do I want to place it let me get you the three again oh wow you're just screaming around here but what you look at three three cherry bombs so far holy cow alright oh wow there's a good one for me one two three one two three four okay now this is the force we need to draw four chips out of my bag and decide if I want to place whether or not that's gonna be very helpful okay so I got one two three let's see what the I can region it's really hard to get that other one out of the bag there we go so there's my options now it's pretty clear what I'm gonna do here I'm gonna take this well I don't know that's clear actually I'm gonna take I can't remem khun's I have in my bags gonna try this one so this is no male 1 but because I already have a pumpkin it will go one more space forward right now I knew I could draw three pumpkins it might have made sense to wait and put a pumpkin out first but yeah I haven't been concerned that bus before that ever happens will be close to it well the thing is last two rounds it came down to I would have to draw my three two bus yes and I did both round right so is that worried right now yeah the only thing that would bust me would be my three so you should draw again because one of the odds right no the only time all I am left in here not that I should know that but all I have left in here is a 1 2 and a 3 cherry bomb I think that's the thing right you can kind of like if you know your bag you do kind of know you have left right yeah I'm also a risk of exploding right now it does seem kind of silly to do it so no I'm gonna do it anyway here we go yeah oh we missed something in the start of this round what's that two things yeah - I had an extra rat tail so I'm actually one ahead of where I am oh that's a good point that's a good thing to cover here because we hadn't had scores for a little while we had right yeah so because of this that means PAP on he doesn't have a dropper but he has this rat stone yeah what should have been there and push everything one space so we'll just we'll push that at half actually you keep doing you're doing it all just push everything you had one well what am i doing I am I'm busted I think like actually what five six seventy I went to AI got ridiculous so I busted and I didn't draw an event though so yeah let's let's find our iowa mostly wouldn't have holes here okay the players the player or players with the fewest rubies receive one ruby so we both had once we've been able to go all right so that's nice that was easy doesn't doesn't change the outcome there yeah okay I'll just throw that away now we have to score the end of this round yeah I'm definitely stopping now that I know I'm at that spot I even get a Ruby out of it oh I'm definitely stopping because I I'm further ahead and its didn't bust yeah I get to die yes again moving your droplet it's always good I'll just move that yeah that's right now okay so you moved forward I don't have anything to at the end of my turn to resolve here from some of the ingredients I have you although I'm sure that true we do we have the black line right and you have more than I do so you get both a gem and you to move your droplet forward again this is not going well this is not a good round for me I know foolish I shouldn't have put up that lock okay so now we would gain gems in the next space our scoring space might is thanks alright and then we would get points or get money I'm gonna take the money you get to have both right I do all right so you go ahead and take your points I'll think about what I spent as I'm first and I have 18 I got I'm gonna take another one of these black chips cuz I feel like we're in a war now Oh for these so I want to be at least have as many of my bag as you do and then I have eight left and I think what I'll do is I'm gonna take a - I'm gonna take a one skull bird so that's that's what's not going to my bag and I'm done I'm just gonna take a four of the Scarecrow the yellow scarecrow okay for the yellow scarecrow yeah it's a good one to have I can use these if I wish and I will twice yeah yeah you can't use it twice i I'm just realizing I didn't didn't my little save me potion last round maybe should consider doing that I could those trend these to MU my drop afford and I will all right but if you are the first player we're gonna advance the round around five and even let us know what the new event is we won't forget that this time the other thing not to forget you actually start with a rat tail that's a good point right at the end of the round you look at the the rat tail situation and there's one rat tail on the score between scoreboard between pep and I so my rats turn will come out and just advance me a little further head looks like ketchup mechanic the first is slightly kinda keeps blowing up their pot yeah the pot is full [Music] [Applause] [Music] you [Music]
