The Last of Us 1x1 REACTION!! - When You're Lost in the Darkness

who's ready for the last of us I know I am welcome back what are we watching so great news mom and Kim know nothing about the last of us I played part one and part of part two on the channel I enjoyed the first game we didn't watch any trailers just because I know a lot of the story and I did see a trailer that had something in it that I just don't want you to know I'd rather you see it for the first time on the show itself and you do know that Pedro Pascal was on this yes that's exciting mom was saying the Mandalorian right Game of Thrones as well absolutely and then we have Bella Ramsey who we love than Game of Thrones so not to spoil that show but wow she was a great character in that so brave so shall we get into this yes let's do it the prospect of a viral pandemic keeps you up at night as well no no no no [Laughter] Agents of Shield fungi seem harmless enough many species know otherwise because there are some fungi who seek not to kill but to control there's a fungus that infects insects gets inside an ant for example this is an actual thing circulatory system to the ant's brain thus bending the ants mind it keeps its puppet Alive by preventing decomposition how where do we get penicillin from fungus the world was to get slightly warmer so if that happens we lose not funny anymore I don't know how long oh the music's great that's just like the game yeah ah it's like the United States right it kind of looks like yeah that's so cool but not cool yeah mm-hmm It's Gonna Make You birthday pancakes you know I don't really like pancakes you have to wear diapers after here with the news getting shoved out of a store I'm like oh my God go watch TV where's the cake come on man let's get this one tomorrow I swear did you what I don't hear anything I could have Zone 60 but I put the chain change back because I'm an honest Thief besides it's about the counts and you're never going to do it for yourself so um of course I want it's too riveting [Laughter] hello bring the dog again he's climbing into her lap oh his sense of something he's like don't do it I don't know what I would do but oh my gosh outside yeah it's like I don't want to go in there he doesn't want him mercy no if that was her I'd go over there and check on them too I guess oh my God what the hell yeah oh no oh okay yeah I'd be like what the hell oh my god oh yeah what the hell happened to her the mother ew what the hell's coming out of her mouth yeah don't eat the cookies holy [ __ ] so the grandmother's up the mother's up and about holy crap coming after her yes wow so she went from that's what happened to her before holy [ __ ] holy flipping God come on where's the dog we're shooting her to do that holy [ __ ] that was the woman that was in that's right did you see what's coming out of her mouth yes we're gonna we're gonna grave and we're gonna grab it let's go come on you didn't really scary hold on hold on holy flipping God she just got attacked oh my god oh Chase go I'd be asking a million questions we don't know we're saying it's about some kind of parasite is it from terrorists don't know it's Jimmy's Place oh my God thank God that's just like that wow that's probably what happened in the bar the guy went yeah is he on that waitress yeah but are they healthy oh it's too early in the game you just don't know I know you don't know anything yeah son of a [ __ ] and people go on the wrong that's right wrong way driving cut across them pick up on the on the west side and then there's going to be someone else with the same ideas isn't that good it's good for them that's the highway we're trying to get to maybe we should just sit and just wait what the [ __ ] what the hell holy crap wow yeah because if it's infecting people it could be the pilot it could be people on the plane going ballistic that's insane imagine everything okay you don't know even the cops could be distracted anybody can people are panicking [Music] people are freaking panicking oh my look look this is three weeks old nobody lasts more than a day I don't need that right wow so she's infected in trouble look at that place oh my gosh oh man she's excited to get out on the other side of the wall it's like one of the levels wow wow like the music wow yeah I'm about to take in oh I tell you what do you guys think wow well you know it almost has you know you well we're watching Walking Dead so it almost gives you that feel but I mean it's um 20 years later Joel's still alive and he knows how to work the system he knows how to you know bake borrow and steal whatever you have to do to to survive and Tom is still alive as far as we know yeah and he just wants his brother yes so what do you think so far it's exciting it's really exciting and it's um you know it's very it's it's horrible to think that it would become like this you know oh my gosh yes you know the military um owns you you can't and it is for your safety but you know like Marlene's you know like her side is like we're trying to you know get away from that that's right the fireflies now from my perspective um I have to I have high expectations anyways for this show but um I am happy to see uh I don't want you guys to see any spoilers so I'm going to get off this preview really quick here we go I'm so sorry about that but um I do love how they put a lot of love into this where I was almost reliving the game in a lot of areas um even to the point where you know where Ellie when she's looking around a room and you have people like talking outside the room because you explore a lot in that game as well you're looking for certain items in a room or something so I like how you can feel the gameplay in a way in a lot of scenes the biggest scene for me in this one was the truck scene because that was a huge terrible moment um you know in this and in the game so I kept telling myself like okay this is when all the crap happens when he's when they're all in the truck and they're driving away and I played um The Last of Us on the channel I did all of part one and when I first started playing The Last of Us it was myself Lee and Nicole and we were just screaming and freaking out I just remember it was obnoxious but we were so into it and just so scared so I really felt like I was reliving that in a way um so you said you felt like this was kind of like The Walking Dead you know you have a virus taking over and you have fast this is horrific I mean right in the beginning with poor Sarah going over to the neighbors to check them out yeah and the poor mother that you know the older couples taken care of that's right I mean the mother is up and up and about and he's doing just fine yeah and running and she's you know it's amazing how quick they are if you are infected and how you know you just you just go mad oh yeah so it's probably that fungus that that first scientist was talking about yeah um and it was so freaking well done with that build up of oh look at this and we're learning about um Sarah and Joel and you know their neighbors and they all seem like they're really close you know very close and Uncle Tommy and you know you just um have a nice you know close family and she's working hard she's student takes care of her dad because he just won't take care of himself you know he um he's always worried about everybody else but in work she even had his watch fixed for him yes and he's still wearing it even 20 years later even if it doesn't work yeah like Ellie you know she told him you know your watch isn't working that doesn't matter no it reminds me of my daughter it keeps me closer to Sarah yeah um I think that scene was so devastating I mean I knew it was coming because I played the games but like with Sarah getting shot like that like here everything just went to hell it didn't even though the soldier was you know listening to orders and he's also petrified because there's people infected everywhere that's right yeah you don't know you don't have scanner yeah you're not you're just going by people's you know physicality and trying to be you know you know see how you know definitely right how they're you know really functioning and you know Joel seemed you know with it but she was injured and you know his orders were probably just you know kill the injured because he can't save her or whatever whatever I mean he's shot at both of them yeah yeah so I think the order was just kill everyone that could possibly be infected but you know it's just chaos and people are just so scared that all rational thought is out the window and your commander saying murder whoever you know like anyone in that vicinity is most likely infected so we're not taking any chances and so what makes the military okay like you're gonna start like selecting like you guys I mean even you had you know planes going down everyone's you know anyone could be infected yeah definitely and uh even Tommy when he's going down that road in the city and there's people half of them are just panicking and the other half are infected so you know you've got both sides you just don't know are they panicking because they're becoming infected or they're just panicking because they're healthy and they're trying to get the hell away I know and sometimes you see blood on certain people so I'm like is that from you know someone are they turned like what happens you know so there's just so much that you don't know and I love the introduction to this because it gave me that same feeling of like not knowing and trying to put together what the hell is going on and then people coming at you I mean I'm looking for a certain subtleties but like we did hear about the fungal infection like you said in the beginning and then we saw um the old lady in the in the wheelchair and then oh that freaked me out when it was quiet in the background and she's blurred out and you just see you're like yeah oh my God like that was so freaky and then something's coming out of her mouth like these little tentacles with these like little sores fungus things coming out and um how she bit um the people taking care of her and then bit the woman you know and then you have like those Spore things coming out it's like she's going around an infection yeah and then she like rejuvenates them and then they just they're like a supercharged yeah and now this is actually based off an actual virus that does exist the Name Escapes me right now but um when they were explaining it in the beginning of the show your temperature has to go before below 94 degrees or something yeah I don't know about those details but that would make sense I guess um but the fact that this fungi takes over like it needs a hose it takes over ants insects it takes over spiders um it's an actual thing and it gets to the point where it controls the host completely and the host isn't conscious anymore it's not there anymore but it can use all of that body's functions for its cause and it goes I guess it goes after other insects and stuff and it keeps like populating so it's actually quite terrifying it really is I mean if you think about it and this um I don't know if people were inspired by this fungi that um inspired like zombie apocalypses because I know there's other things too like rabies but um you know this one is a very scary and interesting Twist on like in a zombie apocalypse you know where you have this fungi that does exist in real life that um you know people have been studying it for decades and they don't know I I'm sure they know why I shouldn't say it like that but um like they're worried or some people are worried that eventually the fungi is going to adapt and start to go after people and so this is what would happen is what they think what would happen if it actually did happen yes yeah so um you know so it's pretty incredible to think that way and very scary so like the fungi can take over like the parasite can take over its entire host so you have this little woman who couldn't move before so it's not her anymore like it's just so freaky and twitching and even with Sarah in school and you're looking around I mean I know this game I mean the title itself is called The Last of Us so it's very you know you're even saying this sounds like it's going to be an award genre The Last of Us that's really positive but here Sarah's like looking around her classroom and this one guy I think was like twitching a little bit not that it meant he was infected but he kind of gave me the Assumption because you guys don't know what's going to happen that oh crap he's probably infected so um what is yeah the shine the bracelet I think so yeah yeah that's right yeah yeah I was reflecting around um so we have these like subtleties uh showing this inevitable Dune that's going to happen and when it does happen it's like almost like times like all at once all around who knows if it's around the world just around this country like around the us or something planes going down all chaos happening all at once was just insane like everything's so calm a few hours before and then all crap hits the fan and that's it very swiftly and um who is Ellie's father or parent or a loved one I mean she's that you know important that he has to take her there and um you know now they have this detour they have to go through and how are they now yeah and I have to give the actors a lot of credit because I know they're there's a great cast in this show and with um Pedro Pascal and with with Bella Ramsey like just them alone are really good for these roles because they are very believable as these characters and I know from the games there is a ton of swearing so Bella even though like I love during Game of Thrones um it was a very different character so she's portraying Ellie I think very well and um she was tough too in Game of Thrones she was tough but it was different yeah it was just different yeah you know the way that she talked to people when she spoke was very different and here like together and she loves F-bomb everything oh boy so I was wondering if they were gonna make that a thing because that was a lot of Ellie's character so I'm gonna go mom sucking like the f word of all the things we see I totally get you don't like language like that but there were a lot of f-bombs in this alone but you can understand where she's coming from I mean this poor kid is you know yes and it's Hell she's never been outside the wall so yeah oh sure so did you guys have any idea about why they had her like chained up or um you know that reveal at the end with her arm no I have no idea really no I have no idea they probably worried okay we're gonna keep you contained just in case you did turn or did yeah it looks like she has the virus so maybe they maybe they injected around yeah because she said immune to her because when they were sent to herself when they were scanning them at the end Joel's red and Tess were green and she was red and then she goes people turn in a day it's been three weeks for me yeah you know so what do you think that means it means she's immune too yeah which I think would be a very important yeah thing they're gonna want her blood DNA yeah you know because uh I think that's a very important role you know yeah and at the end um when they were sneaking through like going up above ground and then going under the bus and then hiding behind those big rock ledges and interacting with the military interacting a lot of this had a lot of game uh scenes I could see I could see that yeah yeah I'm pretty levels or something right um I just really felt reliving that so that was actually pretty intense it was pretty tense but I really loved how they and of course the history on top of it all for sure oh I know because that's what happened in the game too because I remember I'm like I think there was a bad thunderstorm during this season oh yeah there it is so they're really paying attention to the details of the game which I really enjoy a lot and did you expect it to be this violent no I kind of did a little bit but not like this did you think zombie apocalypse I wasn't sure if you knew like anything really about it I would I would talk about the game now and again yes you know for months ago but I would I would imagine like I thought it would be like just other people after other people for whatever reason yeah like it's you against us and we have to do whatever we can to like just like what kind of an apocalypse do you think zombie apocalypse no I didn't think of zombie I thought I just thought like people were just you know bad people were taking over yeah yeah I mean the title Last of Us is like okay it's daunting to me who is going to be the last yeah right and um I enjoy the music too because the guitar playing that happens a lot in the show um so just reminiscing about that like that's uh pretty awesome and I can't wait to see where this goes so I'm really satisfied with this first episode I am too especially at the end with Joel you know looking at you know the guy that he was always making deals with that's right that cop and just really just killing him he just you know beat him to death because he was re you know he was just remembering you know yeah exactly what happened with Sarah with a soldiers pointing a gun at them and it happened so fast too when he was trying to you know compromise with them or be like no please we're not infected and it happened so quick when he just shot them yeah um yeah so that was really traumatic with Sarah I knew she was gonna die um exactly in that way and it was just so traumatic I mean I think she was like the actress who played um Sarah was amazing in that role yeah it really broke my time horrible I just wanted her to stay on yeah I thought she was gonna stay on it yeah yeah I was surprising oh but her poor ankle oh just dangling there like that yeah yeah can you run oh not really Daddy no and he was like desperate just to see yeah he's like can you do something can you run yeah and he was even desperate you know in the field just like okay okay you're gonna be okay you know he just is such denial that she's gonna die yeah yeah that was a very very tragic scene um and it's crazy now 20 years later to see what the world has become from all this and even from when we first saw you know where Joel is living and that kid comes in that's and you guys were kind of like happy about it because you know you don't know like how bad the world I mean you do but you don't like how bad it's gotten like okay well like so many people probably died from this virus 20 years before um and it looks like they're kind of getting civilized or getting civilization back together again so you have this kid come in and then that woman's talking like they're strapped the kid down and she's being so sweet and they scan and you don't know what the scanner really means but it shows red and then she's still talking to the kid being like okay well we're gonna do this we're gonna give your favorite food [Music] yeah so hopefully that injection was painless and you know no uh like pain you know suffering or anything what a tough job that yeah it's awful I hope it was quick um so it just shows you that they can't take any risk there that's right for them and the um infected that we've seen are like really fast oh yeah tremendous that's the same I mean yeah when you saw the old lady no I'm like wow this is a new yeah yeah they just like contorts yeah like that guy that was running after him you know the one that was infected when he was holding on to um the girl and he's just running and running like shut the freaking doors he's like right behind you but he knows like he's just like you just got to keep running just gotta keep running and the infected is just leaping over things like I know they're not zombies they're infected but I just think of um Exorcist zombies you know yeah so can't wait for the next episode guys let us know what you thought of this episode did you play the video game I'm very curious and comparisons what
