[Music] so [Music] game night tonight on game night brock phil jenny and prothna greets you for part two of the initiative if you haven't watched part one check out the link below for the first two chapters of this story tonight we're gonna play chapters three and four of the spoiler-filled missions continuing the story of these teenagers playing the key the game inside the game of the initiative join us for some more hey prothena what do we do now we go on to mission 3 we have set up the board it's the other side a new office layout we have no new secret doors or passageways um and we have laid out our folders we have some new secrets and a new way of solving a puzzle we have two number sequences the first five will establish a pattern the bottom row is a new pattern where we have to solve for the fifth number there are two number sequences below what is the fifth number in the bottom sequence that is going to be interesting okay if we don't get a lot of the numbers yeah yes we are going to read page three for chapter three and if you have no idea what we're talking about look at the link below and go back and view part one of the initiative the blank initiative the scribble initiative initiative yep i like that that's good i really need to go home and study what if we play one more but say goodbye now so you can leave right after wow fine but we have to play let's begin play mission three now so we have already done the setup and we have our mission in the mission console and we have chosen a new start player and it's phil ready found oh phil where are we let us down we are on a new map it's got a crazy shark tank up here and uh we're up in this corner phil is ready to take him total dead end oh it's a lot more cord or like isn't it look how far you got to go to get to this room wow well um why don't i just do intel sounds good right now there's a three all right and i'll go all the way down to the right one at a time one at a time hey we got a number wow well we don't have anything that is good news we get good news we need to go all the way across the map way over there so we've already still won't be for nothing i know seriously we were like oh for eight and those all right that one is not a symbol but at least we got one so that was one deal and then um i can i think we should be doing a lot of intel especially but it's so it's dangerous well especially on a map where it's hard to get to everywhere right it's dangerous because of the counter intelligence i guess i'll just start running run start running one two three i think that's the fastest way to get in there through the middle is faster through the middle so one two one three three yeah okay all right but so the rest of us can branch out and take some of those do and i will take to you you will take two well i will do intel since i have a four um gosh there's a lot of bad spaces but i like the idea of like zone defense right like phil yeah yeah rock you know people take areas or something right well let me intel in this corner one two three four five it's all five the s yes yes yes to the s hey and the sideways house no no no no yes i know okay much better in luck so far and no counter intel you can start heading that way i guess what did she play for six six yeah was that terrible well i mean it was bad but i'll do that it's not terrible if we have a seven eight and nine yeah right it just depends seven i will run i'll go down here actually here no we only got three threes there is it oh yeah this is sorry guys okay do you want uh carter i do too yes there's no there's no reason not you must you must at this point okay there is not an option yet because this is just making sense i'm gonna also intel the five i kind of like that how your cards tell you yep maybe that's the right action right now right type of thing i guess i'm gonna do this one i think that's good because you have to go down and around well and also if it's like a oh right i was going to say actually do one that's closer because then like if it's perfect then i'll run and gather it right right okay well maybe this one because one two three you can still get to it but it's gonna work here we go hey camera camera uh it doesn't matter yeah no no it stays it stays it stays okay number two no that's some more good all right so now yeah now we just don't stop in there well i think i'm gonna try to do my special action on my turn oh since you're in a good spot to get to get three rooms yeah i would have continued if i had a good card we'll also run now it's only if we stop in the space that the camera's activated or correct where you if you end your turn there okay if you move through it you're okay if you just run on through that's fine all right i'm just gonna go one two and these numbers work out perfectly for me uh i will run with a nine [Music] i guess i'll just run one two to this or that's one so i'll run one two and with a one i will gather both of those files that's okay neither these cards aren't that great i've discarded a 12. nice and i have found a number a 16 is the middle number fibonacci sequence i know that or is it uh none of them or is it squares oh [Music] yes oh we've got it already it's one less it could be we'll see we're in the bottom i'm just going to get some we're just going to get it i'm guessing it's squares though i will tell you that all the had troubles with this level okay the only person we've known we know who's played lost on this game yes all right phil what do you got phil's gonna do his special yes phil's got phil's trying to do this to decide which cards to discard fair enough and thinking as long as nobody does a regroup these would be the ones i should get rid of so so i would not do the room where jenny is standing because she can deal with that herself right oh okay well well that one two three is still that works one one and one oh no yeah right okay so we'll start with this one okay yes and it just reveals them right yeah yeah you don't get it oh it's a camera that's oh no traps have no effect discarding okay any traps you reveal oh great and this room [Music] oh what's that it's like a pitchfork it's a crazy bent pitchfork thing nope we don't need that one broken pitchfork i don't know and this one is oh well well i got through that stuff then i'm gonna move so ten okay and one two three that's where we need to turn yeah and three three cards wow can i do anything did i well you could get it where you are you gotta gather right yeah yeah i'll gather um there we go so first one hey you know it doesn't count it's right gathering is good for that and that symbol is no good and i cannot run i could gather but i can't i'm not in that room so i am done give me a card oh wait i could brute force no it doesn't matter just remove the top card you could enter can you intel uh is that uh obama five oh five yeah absolutely absolutely sorry let's do it even like right next to you so you can get it's terrible though but i mean if you guys want it's still fine yeah it's better i think we definitely i'm gonna gather okay so we'll look at that one oops oh counterintuitive no moving until we clear it but that's fine we're gonna have to do it and two cards oh well yeah i wish i wish that run was there before because i could brute force it all right i'm gonna go ahead and collect the two on my station here so yeah uh it's a collection so who cares and the collections who cares wow get rid of them and then i'm gonna uh deduct this one and that collects it too yes it collects it so we'll see all right oh we've got that one we've collected the second number on the bottom sequence is a 12 12 okay not so much not squares not square but it could they're all even yeah even numbers are some kind of double doubles there was 6 12 24 you know 4 8 16 6 12 24 right but do you think it's good i do think it's something something like that we'll get another one and see yeah that makes sense six twelve twenty four yeah sure we're done we're just doing it oh it's okay twenty four yeah game designers hate them for just one weird trick all right where am i i'm over there uh we definitely need to clear move what's intel on intel's on 10 wow yeah i can't do anything all right i mean that was i got a 2 for a regroup so we're going to have to regroup this since we can't do that it's action how important it is to actually regroup before you need to redo the deck yeah oh yeah yeah yeah before this like yeah in fact somebody should regroup this if i could regroup again right now actually i could you could it's a it's not a great number but it puts a lot of cards back in the deck i mean i have a great follow-up number if you want me to i mean yeah look at the deck yes i know if i stop right now and draw one actually it might work i think that might work if i draw one nikki draws two then you can still regroup and get the cards in there yeah because otherwise i can't i can't gather i can gather but i'm not in a space where i can gather so i think i should just stop right now and only take that one action unless you oh you could regroup but it would be a high number is what you're saying uh well it's a medium number let's say okay um then i also draw two cards and then yeah it happens before me unless nikki only does one card i have fairly low numbers i can still do some things but uh getting you know clearing the intel would be nice and not and not adding too much together or either clearing gather and not adding too much to it does it there's a good chance i mean my chew clears intel i could do both i could do i have the right cards to do both decks and still keep the numbers low do you see what i'm saying yeah i could clear both of these on my turn then i'll let you do that yeah okay i'm done with my one action and drama card all right uh hi phil hey hey phil hey hey i'm gonna gather yeah you are but it's only one that's okay okay that's a number right yes yes that is the fourth number okay okay if this is 12 24 48 then we may have won already no it's a five oh our minds are blown we have no idea what's going on wow it is not a simple doubling or adding even of course it's not no can i actually do a second and then i would have to take the two remaining cards excellent question uh let me clarify the way the discard shuffle works um i may not have said it well the first time on the previous episode um you reshuffle this these discards into a new discard pile as soon as this discard pile is empty not when you're about to draw from an empty discard pile right so yeah i highly recommend that you take your one action and end your turn take one card because we want to get all these cards into our big new discard pile on lincoln's terms yeah i was hoping to get rid of a high card before it's still good to keep it this could be something you could discard to do this yeah it could give us several more rounds if we if we're looking at the show if the cards are with us [Music] right away we know the shuffle puts two time cards right at the top like every every other especially the double times but yeah so it's better it's better to just let us do our research and get the get the biggest discard pile okay well the first thing i'll do then is i will regroup that deck which is quite a few cards would have been great if i had a 12 on there but we can't do that i know i just said it was a high card and then that one there regroupings oh man sorry that's okay pretty bored now and two cards you're gonna need two cards so you're gonna get one i'm gonna get a clock you can choose oh no he has to take it still he does he well actually he doesn't have to take the first one we actually had this on the wrong side of the card but as soon as it's now apparel he can choose to not but it's a well it's probably good for i mean you might as well take them until the first i agree yeah i agree it means we could potentially go further in afterwards exactly but we could still risky it's still very risky but there's only about one double card we could get two is that a four yeah i mean we actually we can play almost any card we need to we're doing really nicely i think all right do you want to give these a shovel yes i do i mean i know i'm not any better but it just feels like more than one hand well when we played um paleo before the sdjs we actually played it with uh we let candace and monique and naveen play and aaron dealt seven hazard cards to the like the ten cards that he got out of it in his each person thank goodness yeah he had seven hazard cards so his turn was over like after one card played yeah all right to cut all right i'll take one just because the muzzle b that hits the uh horribleness hey look at that all oh time is of the essence guys we have three numbers we have one live one to pick up okay well i think i just want to move and gather i think so if you can i mean either here or here do maybe this one uh oh yeah you're purple i keep looking at it yeah i'm thinking it's me yeah you do that one or this one i can do this one or that one okay i'll go do this one because i'm the only one up in this area let me do that so i'm i'm running oh look at that one one two and that doesn't get me because i'm not in the shark tank though uh you're looking through the other side of the character i'm not in the shark tank um and then i will gather those four that's all right that's fine it's actually better than security camera because security camera yes could do that all right we've discarded the phone okay yeah over there okay so but now that's done and come on hey hey it's a number we have gathered the number before 16. that'll be really helpful it will be it is hard to flip up 20. wow okay okay so if it's ascending if it's a simple they're going down if it's simple subtraction then 12 goes to 8. and 16 would go to 13. you're saying like minus 5 minus 4 minus 3 and minus 2. oh you weren't saying that but that's my thought that that's a pattern isn't it it is so 20 16 so 13. this could be 25 so minus 5 minus 4 minus 3 13 minus 2 11 11 and then so this one um i mean there's seven between here yeah so minus four is eight minus three is five minus two three three and then plus five would be seventeen so if we see one of those numbers we're good we're on a track and we should on can uh that's me one two three so i'm gonna take one card rather you can one this is one more one oh it is thank you yeah uh so that's the end of my turn so i'm gonna take one card since we have no clocks yet and i'm gonna take another card yeah i'm gonna take another card oh my gosh oh really yeah i mean yeah and i've got uh i've got move and gather cards so i'm going to move i'll move up here almost to the shark tank gather with a six you guys are not gonna like me a shovel an s a shovel alien oh it's a camera oh that's off of that right it is and it's is it as many as our revealed in the room oh okay the house oh and this is the one after 16. okay after 16. if this is a 13 we are good it's a 13. really really really hell yeah yeah code breakers all right do we want to stop i mean i don't know i mean we have we don't have a thing yet okay we don't even have one more uh my cards are or else i'm gonna feel really stupid this is okay but here's the deal it's our bag i know but here's the deal i can break that that's that's my first one so it should be a 17. in other words i have some lower numbers that would let me change that if you played it let's say a 12 in one of these piles it's it's not horrible it it was not bad okay i'm this yeah are you okay in other words she has bad high numbers bad cards so if we continue it might ruin if you move and gather and that's a 17. yeah if all you do is that answers it we're done yeah okay all right since she's not going to trigger a camera i will draw one card okay and it's safe i'm good for now did we discard the one that we had here uh we did not that's the card yeah so throw it discard that one then and then you but i will draw one anyway it's a clock i will not draw another but that's why like right yeah that's why now gathering is all of a sudden very dangerous because it could flip a card from a camera yep and you're actually in the game but it's okay you're just going to gather up that you know phil johnson is going to save i'm moving to here it doesn't really matter we actually have a good card for that then yeah so one two phil johnson day yeah phil then my gathering it doesn't matter it doesn't have to be that it's okay all right if i needed to gather i could just gather and we'd get rid of that card it's a soundtrack i kind of can't change like i said it wasn't going to be too hard it wasn't going to be squares and in a complex form yes so 7 minus 5 minus 4 minus 3 minus 2. so 17 minus 5 4 minus 4 minus 3 minus two all right so we think it's a three is everybody okay with it yeah i mean yes because that's what we're saying that is correct we have one mission three [Laughter] after mission 3 if you lost the mission read page 18. but we didn't lose it i know then what do we do it doesn't say what happens if you win secret three all right oh under the falls red letters oh what that one but two two letters right next to each other same but i would get the other cards that have the red ones we have completed already yeah and then were any of these red i mean i know their numbers not okay no so yeah let's look at the ones we have one two three four five so you've got to be the false let's see so b uh oh blank blank yeah we don't know those right o and w w another box borrow box borrow under the false box bottom oh that's got to be it yep oh the box bottom under the false box bottom [Laughter] oh there's a whole sheet i can't handle it wow all right did you want to ask me oh that's great so excited you want to ask me if i want to teach you how to play this game yeah so this is new rules there's a whole lot of traditional rules oh my goodness wow additional rules missions make use of additional components such as enemies locked doors and advanced clue tokens these components are described on this sheet enemies are characters that get in your way and have negative abilities only used in some missions when a mission uses an enemy its starting room is shown on the back of the mission card in the setup place the enemy's standee in the designated room then place its enemy card face up next to the game board oh there's a there are cards in the box i see an explanation of the symbol oh i was asking about that nicki asked about at the beginning these little symbols activate the enemies oh no each enemy has a card that lists its abilities the top two abilities are marked with a red star and blue target a build icon these abilities are resolved whenever a clue token is revealed that has this icon on it these will often make enemies move or resolve other effects when revealing multiple tokens reveal the tokens one at a time that's why we do it one at a time and resolve enemy abilities before revealing the next token when you reveal a token using the gather action you must resolve enemy abilities before you can collect the token uh if there are multiple enemies resolve all enemy abilities matching the icon in the order of your choice wow some abilities tell you to move an enemy toward or away from a player token when it moves towards something move with the number of rooms specified so it ends up as close as possible to the target if there's a tie the player currently taking their turn makes the decision if it tries to move toward the nearest player or token it will not move if it's already in a room containing the player or toby enemies cannot move through walls or locked doors they ignore traps and feature tokens such as laser tripwire i thought that was eddie van halen's guitar if due to locked doors there is no path for an enemy to move they will not move enemies do not restrict player movement unless specified uh we'll skip the enemy example defeating enemies if an enemy is in your room before or after you perform an action you may place one card from your hand that matches the enemy's suit [Laughter] but there was no color for him officially you know like that's interesting well yeah you know like how that works you place one card from him that matches the suit face up under the enemy card this does not count as one of your actions but you may only do this once per turn when the total value of cards under an enemy equals or exceeds its strength the enemy is defeated remove the enemy standee from the game board its abilities no longer have an effect oh okay so for instance this one it's showing has i think 19 printed on the master line and you equal or defeat equal or excuse me do i have to be in the same room with the villain yes you do so you could move then do this which is not an action right and then take your second action important one enemy card has all three suits near its strength now so any card can be placed underneath okay oh that's good yeah that's a little bit easier i'm so i'm so ready for it it is defeated when cards under it of the same suit equal or exceeded strength so you can place any card under it but all the cards together in the same suit defeat it they only add the suits okay you choose the suit but you can't wild card every single one all right advanced clue tokens that would be these some mission cards instruct you to place advanced clue tokens on the game board they come in three colors red blue and green the mission card will show you where to place them during setup advanced clue tokens are placed above or below other clue tokens in that room as shown on the card when you reveal tokens in a room remember always reveal the top token first it will show you how to stack them advanced clue token effects bonus glyphs these function just like normal glyphs and appear on some mission cards the only difference is that these glyphs can only be found on blue clue tokens okay red clue tokens may have key cards you can collect this token like a glyph when you collect it flip one locked door token to its unlocked side okay or is that this thing nope uh you're right it is okay because they're gonna say like lock door unlock something green tokens have can have computer access you can collect this like a glyph when you collect it discard a laser trip wire or a safe which is on the back of this uh or a security camera or an alarm or counter intel token from any room or card wow so computer access does a lot of things also on the back of green could be more trips oh keep this in the room when you perform a gather or intel action while you're in the room you must use the highest numbered card in your hand and on red and blue we have master security camera and master alarm that's the one with this it's the one with this the little uh recycle symbol that's just a regular alarm the one with the little recycle symbol is the master alarm and the master camera when you reveal one of these move it directly to your room aside from this these traps function exactly like regular security cameras or alarms all right last little features locked doors these function exactly like walls when they are locked and passageways when they are unlocked they are normally placed locked but the key cards in the red can actually are they only in the red in this room cannot be revealed by intel but of course the computer access can unlock a safe other abilities can reveal tokens in this room such as gather or special abilities and lastly laser trip wires players must end their movement when entering this room using the run card so you can't sprint through the laser trip wires that you can move out of it normally using another action later there we go a whole bunch of new this is very exciting rules shall we try mission four sure yes please okay we're on to mission four and one quick thing we i noticed about the code that we just solved uh which was we had our box bottom but we were looking at as box borrow because we looked at w on our code here we actually didn't solve that code wrong we made the leap correct we made the loop correctly but check this out the final letter here is the symbol for w flipped upside down so that that's actually the m at the end so we just wrote w hastily out of seeing the symbol but they actually flipped it upside down to make that an m and the t's were not in our red symbol list so that was the part we had to just intuit but uh that was pretty cool that they made the w do double service as the m in box box it does continue some of the symbols that we were wondering if the glyphs were repeated yeah even though they were changing things up but they didn't there the red ones were right back all right okay we're on the mission four okay we just read all those uh new rules the only one we're using right now is the mastermind who starts on the board here with his uh four clues in his room and we have one wall on the we're back to our original map not the shark tank map we're back to our first office layout with one wall the mastermind when we see the red star symbol on a revealed token will move one room toward that revealed token cool and when we see that blue target a symbol we'll move two rooms toward that revealed token okay however whatever room he is in you cannot collect or reveal any tokens in that even with intel no way what sort of special abilities no way whatsoever okay and right now he's in a room with four clues so for now he's got the best clues under lockdown of course we can defeat him other random by using right so yeah but that's a lot of clues sure but we could get lucky we don't quite know what we're doing yet for this one uh he does take 19 to defeat remember that doesn't take an action we can place a card under him if we're in the same room with him so like the 12 yellow 7 or yeah 10 and a 9. um or 2 12. yes there's only one 12 and then it's only all right yellow right right right he's yellow right yes yes and it shows the briefcase symbol is the suit of cards um all right we are going to we're starting chapter four and we're going to read page four it's phil sleep alone in his bed it's his creepy inner monologue creeping out of his closet sleep phil don't get up there's really no point to it that sounds like me no it's so creepy how we chose the right character yes no one needs you you're fat you're worthless ugh stop it come on phil put on a happy face they rely on you to keep them entertained nice phony smile phil wow i know i know this is such a good t-shirt all right then they're at school later uh it looks like that's me profner so i had a thought about the code this morning hey phil can i see the game this says stop do not play a mission yet one of your secret cards tells you how to find the hidden rule sheet we've already done this part once you have it read page 22. check mission cards one two and three to make sure you have retrieved all secret cards they provide if you need a hint read page twenty one oh bending back this role but you really got to do it voila the missing rule sheet this is amazing they like your game phil not you oh my god no dang pill get some confidence get some get some uh i love him i know phil come on sorry you got some friends there phil it's okay phil i'm a liar yeah yeah jenny's got some ducks in the grass oh my gosh so reading this over it sounds like these new pieces make the game harder yeah i'd say so oh boy another challenge boy you're a party pooper i don't know that'll be his name like games at all look at him he doesn't like twist his arm now keep up the act phony phil uh yeah cool let's try it out stop read the hidden rule sheet then play mission four so we've done that we've set up mission four we've got our new wall and let us find out what the solving mission console puzzle is like permission four uncover and untangle the two words what is the key phrase so we've got a phrase of two words one two three four five six seven eight nine or eight eight letters two three four five six seven wait do the people check at this time i really do i'm not gonna all right it's possibly like two four letter words that are tangled right to then get the key phrase they could be in any order right there's not it's not necessarily the first four and the last four or anything like that uh there is however a symbol that appears twice okay so the one that sort of looks like a house with a dot in the middle or an iphone with a camera in the middle appears twice okay so we have eight letters seven symbols that we're looking for and it's a key phrase [Music] and um the the mastermind is in the room that was the secret card revealed on mission four and we are ready to start and the start player is it should be one of the three of you so i'm thinking of a number between one and ten five okay um three five is the best one gotta pick five one and ten eight mickey see i said eight's the best number all right okay i guess i'll just do intel well there's three over in that corner it might make sense also to reveal things near him so that when he gets there it's not a problem that they haven't been revealed yet or you know like yeah sort of pretty they can't be collected or reviewed sure sure but if we know what they are you know just to sure or we could we could just work on the stuff that's near us and then worry about him later definitely then either he you know he gets near us and we run past him or he gets near us and we deal with him so here's the intel all right do it lincoln go what is that an eight five [Music] okay we've lost mickey stinks thanks everybody bill stinks why did you even come to school today phil we only like you because of your game phil that's all i'm going to do because my card numbers i don't want to ruin people no i thought i get it i oh my gosh wow those are both bad that is the worst turn we've had yes that is in four absolutely the first turn i'm so sorry no not you so nothing over here huh one two three i don't know is there a zero yeah there wasn't really i'm gonna run oops over here no one two three and then i will brute force gather right now you can't gather well no i can brute force oh brute force sorry um but i actually it's terrible yeah it is well based on my hand um but we need to do some i need to do some of these which one should i do gather or intel because i can reserve together for the next time i say gather because we can move and gather okay so i will yeah brute force first together yeah it sucks but it's low numbers it's okay and it's whatever happens so those are fine and then i will do these two it sucks i'm in the room with them hey do we need that one well first we do him right no only oh right because it's a similar piano he does move one space toward that room so yes okay and then it looks like we do not need that okay so that goes away and he moves one more again and we also do not need that new zealand okay new zealand was worthless but if this is available i draw three cards and right he's moved off the big stack that is good i draw three cards it's hard to get there yeah it is yeah it's very far yeah although i do have the move five ability that's true it is six spaces away well i'll start by moving one two three and then i will gather there hey he moves first here back towards you this direction and that symbol is on the card all right we have found a single letter we have found an r and an l untangling there are two letters all right some of these are going to be crazy and those two letters are they in the same word or different words well well next one next he moves again we have gathered yes secret d oh no this got an exciting fact yeah it did all right basics of encryption masonic cipher this is the one i was showing you at the beginning yeah in this cipher letters are placed on four different grids each symbol represents the letter in the matching space of the grid in the basic version the letters are placed alphabetically but more advanced masonic ciphers place the letters in different positions so we need to translate this one so that is going to be r e m e so remember i'm sure uh this is that's the um it should be t h that's the sample puzzle in the rulebook okay and it's showing you how to solve a keyframe okay remember this all right so we're not really not a helpful thing but it's like it's like a little we know how to do call back okay great all right so if we ever see that but then it but it didn't give us any letters it did not but we might even see these pop up in here um wow so interesting secret there's [Music] on the bottom position just like the l so let's say could certainly be in one of the words i love how these secrets are on dot matrix for me too yeah that's pretty very very small all right that was both of your actions uh yes and we've lured the mastermind back to his headquarters of four clues all right let's see we've got we can't do intel but we can do moving oh i've got good cards for move and gather that may work um nikki how are your cards how are my cards like where let's see where are you could you move and gather if i played cards on move and gather i don't know yes all right i mean all right i think i think we can all move and gather where should i go do i want to go near don't allure him i want to lure him this way so i'm going to move here [Music] so then he'll start coming this way where we've already emptied some stuff out and i will gather those two oh well i'm using my yellow cards but they were quite long yeah low numbers yeah flip that one for me that's the flux capacitor no no [Music] and it wouldn't matter anyway uh yeah uh all right that was two i drew my two all my gathers seemed to be like nothing but at least i clearly all right uh phil hey i left you nice low cards if you want to move and gather hey everybody i wouldn't mind ending on the same space as
