well announcement before we start a lot of people and asked me lately true I love your videos I love your YouTube channel but when is the sequel coming out we got to see what you do next and I'm excited to finally announce that drew gooden 2 is in production well technically we're still waiting to get our budget approved we need about 3 billion dollars to make it happen so it might be a while make a video this week and I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what to talk about and I decided you know what fuck it let's talk about video game with a new generation of consoles coming to us in the near future the age-old debate has been reignited which console will reign supreme will it be the PlayStation 5 will it be the Xbox Project X the movie or perhaps a new comer will arise I'm thinking ooh you too your favorite game or your favorite app and you're gonna be like I want to play that and I have to get you to play it cuz it's the only place it will be for some reason the Xbox first PlayStation debate is the most heated argument on the face of the planet these people absolutely hate each other look at some of the conversations on Twitter Xbox is so shit nobody wants it Gavin imagine giving a shit about the PS posh fuck up fan games consoles boxes for little kids don't bully Xbox please respect all X fart series let me tell you guys about my personal history with gaming and the relationship I have with these consoles as a result I still remember the day I learned that computers aren't just for sitting in the corner and making weird noises whenever my parents would turn them on when I discovered that you could play games on that dusty ass rectangle my five-year-old brain exploded I played the shit out of backyard baseball and backyard football and jump start adventures third grade : mystery Mountain videogames awakened a part of my soul that my 41 pound body had yet to become acquaintance with and all I wanted was more when it came to consoles though my family didn't own any for a few more years but we would often visit my cousins who had to things that we didn't a swimming pool and a nintendo64 yeah the pool was nice but you're telling me I could go inside and play Mario Kart and not get any water up my nose where do I sign there are my cousin's who owned the Nintendo and could therefore play it whenever they wanted would sometimes look at me like - can we can we do something else and I would say no it's Destruction Derby time I knew that as soon as I got home the only game my ass would get to play with sweeter rabbit math adventures ages 6 to 9 and that just wasn't gonna cut it so blow off the cartridge give me the good controller this time and let's blow up some Kong speaking of cars one other vivid gaming memory I have is when my parents took us to Carmack's so they could spend what felt like 19 hours trying to buy a Honda Odyssey why is this a gaming memory you didn't ask well because Carmack's had a Gamecube in the kids waiting area and you bet your ass I played Super Mario the entire time best day of my life that memory is so precious to me that I think it actually influenced my decision as an adult to buy a car from Carmack's anyway everything changed one glorious Christmas morning when after months of begging my sister and I finally convinced my parents to buy us a Playstation 2 they probably figured it was cheaper than financing a used car every time I wanted to play something this was a huge upgrade from Rita Rabbit now we got games like Tony Hawk pro skater 3 spider-man the movie the game Jimmy Neutron boy genius probably should have rented that one in the years that followed my love for games only continued to grow as we discovered newer and bigger games like Kingdom Hearts I didn't even think something like that was possible until I played it and then when the sequel came out a few years later I still remember being blown away by some of the innovations like the new combat system the new magic spells and most importantly the ability to skip the cutscenes in a way my new video game obsession probably did more harm to my life than good I went from being a consistent straight-a student to you know mom a see actually isn't that bad I went from weirdly being like a baseball prodigy as a seven year old to a lazy chubby twelve-year-old who wouldn't even swing the bat anymore because I was too distracted thinking about how when I get home I could play a TV off road Fury to the ps2 years were mad we sunk so many hours into games like Star Wars Battlefront The Sims Simpsons hit and run Shrek 2 which is like one of the best movie games I've ever played and then it's my little brother got older I could show him some of my favorite games from when I was his age or we could play new games together like Lego Star Wars or armymen air attack sometimes when I'm really bored I'll turn on my ps2 and just go through the memory cards that I somehow managed to hold on to for all these years seeing all the save files for games that I can only assume I rented from the Hollywood video store that closed down in 2007 weirdly though despite having this sort of emotional attachment to the ps2 when it came time to upgrade to the next generation of consoles I didn't really hesitate I went with Xbox 360 in hindsight I think there was one and only one reason for that and his name was Master Chief halo 3 introduced me to this brand new world of multiplayer gaming that I had never experienced and it was so much fun now I could play against other people I could talk to my friends I could get yelled at by strangers it was life-changing and in some ways traumatizing I don't have like ideal girls in a cow and then I said I did throw did your mom but for the next several years the Xbox 360 was the only console I owned and I didn't really have any problems with it except for that one time I didn't realize you can't move the console when you have a game in otherwise you'll absolutely destroy your brand new copy of Mad know a way to go don't ask i have equally fond memories of the xbox360 as I do the ps2 I remember being obsessed with unlocking achievements even though they serve no real purpose I remember all the cheap games I would discover years after they came out and end up blown away by I remember one time my friend stayed the night at my house and when we woke up we started playing portal 2 together and we played it so long that he ended up just spending the night again so fast-forward to like 2015 and this time around I felt pretty loyal to Microsoft so when I got my first big check from a job I was not qualified to do the first thing I bought was an Xbox one even though there was a pretty heated debate at the time Sony verse Microsoft as there always has been I didn't even really hesitate I was an Xbox guy now but unlike with the 360 I actually started to second-guess my choice as time went on not at first but after a year or two I started feeling regret outside of Halo which is shell of its former self at this point there were really any Xbox exclusives I gave a shit about and my eyes started to wander huh people seem to really like those Uncharted games and Last of Us is getting some pretty good reviews wait did they remaster all the Kingdom Hearts games ah so then in 2018 now several years into my adulthood I did something that I had never done in my life so far I bought a ps4 and had both major consoles at the same time ten year old drew would be proud of my financial recklessness and it started off small I was like cool now I can play fortnight with Eddie Berbick I can play the Kingdom Hearts remaster Amanda can play the Final Fantasy 10 remaster spider-man's coming up pretty soon that should be fun wait hold on what do I do when I want to buy a non exclusive game I have to make a choice and slowly I started finding myself stocking up on non exclusive ps4 games I bought Madden 19 on the ps4 2k 20 for the ps4 modern warfare before eventually deleting it because its 14,000 gigabytes all of these games I could have gotten on either console I ended up buying on the PlayStation it felt kind of weird too because it had been over 10 years at this point that I had this loyalty to Microsoft and now I'm like not even turning my xbox on for months at a time I felt like I had no use for it anymore the only reason I ever would go on when I did was to play rocket league with my one friend who I used to live with and we would play rocket League together on our Xbox but that was pretty much it no exclusives I cared about I didn't go on it for other things like Netflix or YouTube I just stopped using but then it started to flip back the past year or so I've started to go on there every once in a while and realize like I think they're making a comeback next if you don't mind I think I'll try and channel my inner Nagy jakey for this one I don't have a yoga ball but the folding chair should do easily the best thing that Microsoft has added to the Xbox one in my opinion is game pass this shit is fantastic they have some really great titles on here like big games games that are still relevant and I'm pretty sure the plan is that when they have exclusive releases like Gears 5 it comes out for free on game pass the day it's released so for just a few extra bucks a month in addition to your xbox live subscription I think there's a lot of value in that I haven't even bought an Xbox game in forever but I've been able to go back and play any games that I missed out on because of game pass games like the outer worlds moving out which is a really fun arcade game it's kind of like overcooked which is also on game Pass Disneyland adventures just kidding that game is awful who is this guy this is like the Disney mascot now was Pinocchio busy that day or something what even is this now of course Sony has their own version of this it's called PlayStation now and it's actually been out for several years they advertised it as having over 800 games spanning three generations of consoles so on the surface it actually seems like a much better deal about 800 games for 10 bucks a month but it's kind of funny the way it's presented because you get all excited when you first open up the app and you see all these games like a Spider Man fall out rocket League these like big games that draw you in but then once you take the extra steps to navigate to the page that shows you every game a twosie you just sort of like kinda like what the hell is this shit suddenly that 800 plus number starts to feel a little less impressive when you realize five of them alone are just different episodes of a detective game that came out in 2007 I don't even recognize like 80% of these titles it's nice I guess to have the option to play them but let's be honest I'm never going to PS now also seems to be a lot more nostalgia driven than game past most of these games are from the ps2 or the ps3 which is great if you've missed out on a lot of these or you just want to go back and relive a classic like Bioshock or the Sly Cooper series which is actually the reason I got PS now in the first place but for me after a few months of getting all of that missed Algie out of my system it started to feel less and less valuable as time went on and while it's great to have access to all of these games whenever you want if there's only a few of them that you want to play it makes more sense to just buy those because they're pretty cheap at this point rather than paying ten bucks a month for the rest of your life if you wanted more apples to apples comparison something like 2k you can play the newest version of 2k on game pass for free a game that I paid full price for seven months ago or on PlayStation now you can play the version that came out three years ago and doesn't even support online access anymore which is how you play most of the game so it's kind of pointless there are other things I've noticed coming back to my xbox one after using ps4 for a while for one everything feels way faster on Xbox things download faster the menus on my ps4 are super laggy and slow in comparison to Xbox something as simple as inviting my friend to a voice chat takes forever on ps4 but I can do it almost instantly on Xbox I can also take screenshots almost instantly on Xbox but if I want to record a game clip on ps4 which I often do it sometimes takes several seconds to even load the button and keep in mind I have the original Xbox one it's two years older than the ps4 that I bought so if anything these loading times should be the other way around another thing is while I generally prefer Sony's interface over Microsoft's why can't I just add Netflix to my homepage or YouTube or anything like that even if I just exit it out of it for a second I have to first go to the TV and video tab which takes too long to load as previously discussed and then I can click on it and get back to watching my show yes he's a very minor problems I feel silly even complaining about them but the more you experience something over time the more annoying it gets if you guys want to know what makes me the most irrationally angry at my ps4 it's this so I have the standard 500 gigabyte ps4 hard drive and I understand from years of owning electronic devices that that does not mean 500 gigabytes I know that there is a portion of that that is reserved for system operations for actually running the games that are on the hard drive I get that however that space has already been accounted for they've already subtracted those 93 gigabyte from the 500 so why do I have over a hundred additional gigabytes free and I can't use any of it once I hit like 260 270 that's it I can't download anything else I can't even start games sometimes without deleting something and look I'm not a tech savvy person at all so maybe I'm just dumb I don't understand hardware or specs or the inner workings of these devices but if no matter what I do I will never be able to use this space then don't show it to me don't make it look like I have all this room when I don't and the thing is I've looked this up too I have not been able to find a solid answer online as to why this is why I have a 500 gigabyte hard drive but I can only use a little bit more than half of it am I being taxed is the government takin some of these gigabytes back I need those I'm trying to play bridge constructor that said though the Xbox is not perfect either neither of them are perfect that's why I'm making this video I think Microsoft has this weird habit of creating a really good interface that everyone likes and then completely changing it for no reason and it definitely seems like right now they're getting their ass kicked in terms of IPs in terms of original games that are exclusive these consoles and at the end of the day that's pretty much the most important factor when it comes to deciding which console to bot but I suppose that brings us to today and apart from a handful of memes and lists of words and numbers that I don't understand because I'm an idiot it's impossible to say at this point which console is gonna be the right one going forward and you know what maybe that's my entire point with this video which is that the console wars are dumb as hell it is so silly when grown adult men go on the internet and practically fight to the death in defense of a piece of hardware they like or when they try to act like one of them is better in literally every way and the other is useless that's just not true if you're trying to engineer the perfect console you would have to take elements from both of them in order to be able to do that you'd have to take games from both of them in order to be able to do that and even then it wouldn't matter if it's the greatest console in the world if it's not the ones your friends have because then you'll have all this fun and no share it with and wouldn't that be pretty lonely my advice if you want to try and take something from this video it's just buy whatever fuckin console you want I have felt myself in the past have my opinion swayed by popular consensus maybe you see a lot of people trashing Microsoft right now so you're like well I guess I have to buy a ps5 I don't want to look like an idiot but if you want to buy an Xbox and buy an Xbox you can't what anyone else thinks you're the one playing the game that's also why I think it's so dumb when someone makes a video reviewing a game and everyone gets furious at the fact that they had a different opinion than them how dare your experience vary from my own first thing I don't feel like I've made my mind up yet about the next generation of consoles I'll probably buy a PS 5 but that's mostly because I think that's the one my friends are buying and I want to play with the boys life's no fun without my boys anyway that's
