Terrible Explanation of how to use Unique Tav

so I'm going to show you how to install this pretty quickly um the two requirements that you really need to have is you need to make sure that you have the Baldur's Gates 3 mod manager or Vortex I can't really help you with Vortex as I don't use that and you need to be able to know where your um steam data files are so I'll just get started on showing you this really quick the first two files you need is unique tab data which goes in your data folders and then you need the pack which will install um with the mod manager so let's just install this one first oops sorry it's in the downloads so we'll say pack like that and it should show up somewhere over here like that and you always want to make sure that your unique tab is always the last thing loaded because it has to overwrite some files that other mods might be overriding and then the next thing that you're going to want to do is open your game data folders now um you should have the game folder as an option that you can open in the bottlerscape mod manager so since I have it through Steam it'll open my Steam and I'll open the bin folder so we just want to go back to Boulders Gate 3 here and we want to go to data like that so now we're going to open up the unique tab data we're going to go back to this folder here and so we're just going to drop this generated folder like this and it's going to unpack all that data so you can see that it creates generated public shared assets unique tab the backup folder just because I already had assets so the assets that you're going to have is the normal assets which is for um elf drow uh half elf human because they actually all share the same body the male and the strong male is overlap with the female and the strong females overlap as well this is where the tattoo goes the tattoo is just an entry in the top left corner and you have the tieflings which is kind of like the same as the previous one hi David what are you doing please don't do that right now I know you have so many hours in the day to do something and you just show up when I'm trying to record something yeah this is one of the hours of the day yeah oh and this is the Atlas for the makeup and this is the Atlas for the tattoo which you can see under unique tab face so this is the makeup and this is the tattoo mask so you can see that uh these names have to be very specific uh as to what I've written down here so I've noticed some people have some issue where they're trying to like copy and coven elves thing and usually the name will be something like this where has like a one at the end it cannot be picked up like that it has to have specifically this name uh just so you know that anyway let me just start the game so you can see that this is working [Music] since you're here can you throw this tea bag in the chat can you throw this tea bag in the trash [Music] he's drinking my tea what the heck just put it in the trash can man this you missed you're like right over the trash can how did you do that [Music] oh there's like chamomile on the floor yeah I'm sure peanut will link it anyway uh now you start the game um so the easiest way to tell that everything is working properly is that if you just go to human mail well first you have tattoos so there's one um let's go to human mail and you can see his chest as hairless I should have it uh set so that it doesn't have the ball tattoo by default this is the ball tattoo I think it's number 10. I might have accidentally included that by default anyway um now we get to go into the second part so how you actually use the variants so I packed some for you already so you don't actually have to um do interesting things um we'll go into the makeup later let's just go with the body first so um I have the pictures of all the body tattoos here so this is one two three four let's find one that looks interesting this is number nine so let's go grab number nine from here let's put that in now what you're going to need to do is if you're already in the character creator sometimes you can get away by scrolling in and out but most typically you have to just restart the character creator if you have a game that you're already loaded into you just need to save the game and then um go back to the main menu and then reload it to refresh the textures so you can see the textures are now refreshed like that so um let's just go ahead and clear out all the texture so if we use number zero um you can see that if you are capable of opening DDS files you can usually just look at them to see the information Irfan viewer which is what I use um foreign this program it has a plug-in to be able to see DDS and I also use Sage thumb to be able to see the thumbnails if you're interested in being able to look at a DDS files just by being around the next one is the body variants I don't have pictures for these up yet but um some of them you probably already know in the game so we would want to go to normies and let's say male Harry's strong Harry there we go so we will do this like that you'll see replace all these files and so obviously nothing happened to the females but if we go to the males you can see that now he has very hairy chest all right uh and you can see that also um it followed the hair color for the elf as well and you can see that elf drow it's hard to see but there is chest hair here um human and half elf they all share the same Atlas along with a number two and number four you can see it's the same Atlas um so let's say you want to use the male hair Gary map male hair Harry Gale first before you do this you have to use male Harry and then you'd have to use male hairy Gales that would be um so first you enter this one and then you would do uh male hairy Gale because you can see that the the Gale texture is only editing these but there's actually a lot more um other properties this uh one that says test on the end of it is actually unused I probably just included it by accident once again you go to main menu and then you load back in now you can see you have the sort of Gale tattoo on here uh I think someone was asking all of this I just stole from the Gale that sorry the Gale yes this one stole from Gail but all of these are actually stole from the game uh so like they may not work perfectly and I'm not really going to bother editing them they're more as like a proof of concept or maybe specifically you just happen to like that tattoo and you get lucky but uh you know you can open these and up and edit these uh there is guide to how to edit the textures I'll give a link to that but basically like the clean or the hamevi these are uh PBR type Maps so they'd not like explicitly obvious as if you were drawing a picture right um whereas the tattoo is uh well this is a blank one but let me find one like this this is a more explicitly obvious about what's going on this is like scales on the legs or something you know it's that part uh let's go into how to give the unique facial the feature the facial tattoos so let me just download something from the Nexus if I have the Nexus open somewhere here it is and let's go coven elf tattoos they can spell correctly um so I think this has both of them so we need to do is that you want to make sure you're unique to have face and you just keep clicking through until you get to the tattoos here like that and you'll see that her ending has Mask two and Elsa's mask one as opposed to ours was just as a mask so we can do is we can name this back and we can also name this one which is our original one we can also name this back um something just I remember before I forget is um if you open up options in Windows and you go to view one thing that you always want to make sure is that you don't want this to be clicked so see how it says hide extension for Gnome file type we click apply you see how it now becomes there's no dot DDS that's very that's that's not good we need to make sure that that says uh blank like this so that way we can see the ending because um for the mod specifically the DDS ending needs to be capitalized so when we are replacing this coven Alpha One what we need to do is we need to remove the two but we also need to switch dot DDS to DDS like that and then we also need to switch this one to the same format the um game is kind of case sensitive which means that um something like this is different than something like that so we need to make sure that we do that properly um sometimes with the face if you edit the tattoos you will get lucky and you can change that like by scrolling in and out it doesn't always work let's see there it works there um this never works with the body textures because you do not get far enough out to change the um level of detail the lad but this does work uh for the face paint but once again if it for whatever reason doesn't work for you always going to the main menu and refreshing the save game or the character creator will uh the trigger all of that um for advanced user information let me explain how some of this works so if you uh understand Todo unpack Boulder's Gate files using like lslib by unpacking the unique tab like this it'd be something like that and then you would get this folder and you can open it in vs code which is what I recommend um I'll show you the most important information so if we go down to the material Bank you will have the texture Bank so this has uh what I'm telling the game is that instead of telling it to load its texture Atlas I'm telling it to load my texture Atlas so for the skin header and the skin makeup and it's uh this address is I'm sorry these IDs instead and then for there's a better way of doing this and I'm gonna Implement soon but basically this is uh the Joe head from uh I can't remember the name of the mod but whatever so if you go down it should have Atlas and you can see that I have replaced the name of the atlas with my atlases for the makeup and the tattoo and then if we go to it was this tiefling strong and if we go to the character visual asset so this actually represents um like the Character Creator doll which is a unique player um if we look at their overrides you will see that I have the it's real material overheads if you scroll down you will see that the Joe head is somewhere on here or is it at the top oh yeah here it is but yeah basically you can see that I have a rewrote all these addresses there are a lot of parameters in a phase but yeah you can see that this one um let's go find it yeah but you can see that basically I have just uh replaced these information so I'm just redirecting uh all the heads to use my pet information there's probably a better way to do this well I mean there is to some extent I'm working on certain um parameters this is also where the body overrides are right now um they're also done through real material overalls I'm looking into changing that just to make it more convenient but this is also um why when you have new head mod or new race mod I need to add the data in for it so you see Joe had was a uh like for example see these are all like unique modded heads they all need to be added due to the way that we have to implement it right now um that might change in the future uh the tattoos is a little bit different as I'm just doing that through a straight scalar um implementation so you can see that I'm adding the parameter body tattoo index zero which it's already set to that we say the color is black which is zero and then we say the intensity of the red channel is one so if you look at uh My Tattoos um okay it's in the top left corner so this is index zero and it's in the red channel so that's why it's saying one which is red it should be uh one right because you want it to be completely intense this is more information for someone who wants to do Advanced things like for example it's possible to have a multiple tattoos at the same time like for example I could do this and this and then it would try to be pulling from the green and blue Channel if they exist uh there's one NPC who does use that implementation they're called like uh like sea Queen I can't remember their name exactly but you'll you'll if you've seen her you'll know she has like scales all over her and she uses that so that's more of a something for an advanced modder but uh yeah aside from that uh that's basically how all this information is done for now I'm looking into making it less uh crappy on the back end but yeah that's about it [Music]
