- How's it going people? Welcome back. This is turning into be my new setup here, I hope you guys enjoy it. Today we're looking at a puzzle box. No ordinary puzzle box by any means, this is a level eight Karakuri designed box, aptly named, A Box with a Tree. This is handcrafted in Japan by the Karakuri Creation Group who make really fooling puzzles. Puzzles you may know like, the Coffee Cup puzzle, the Dice puzzle and even the Bad Radio puzzle. This seems like an ordinary box but obviously is a bit trickier, and should be opened somehow without using force, hopefully. So without further ado, let's get into it. (air hisses) Okay, here we go. This is the Tree on a Box puzzle (chuckles). First of all, there seems to be, there seems to be, oh, there seems to be a seam right here. So I've done a, there's like super-simple puzzle boxes, where there's like different moves, I guess this one might be one of those where you, nope (chuckles) I thought maybe this might slide forward. Doesn't look like it. Oh. Oh, oh. We've got double seams, maybe it slides backwards. Also no, forwards backwards, no. Okay. Maybe one of these side panels comes off. I'm just, right now gonna attempt to slide every panel in every direction, hopefully one of them gives. No. That's a no. That's a no. Okay, well on the inside, I noticed that there's a magnet there, and there's also a magnet there, on the top, which allows it to be, magnetically clasped. (panel snaps in place) Boom. There's no, okay this is interesting. So here, if I pull on this, you can see that this comes up, or moves sideways or something. This is loose, this top part. So this should be the next move, just not sure how. Not sure what my next step would be here. So, maybe this logo moves, or gets pushed in. The arrows are pointing up on the tree, so maybe that's a clue. No. Huh. I don't wanna break it (chuckles) I always, I literally say that with every puzzle, is that I don't wanna break it. I never have to this day broken a puzzle, maybe today will be the day, but who knows. That doesn't come off. Let me just tell you. First of all, how clever is this? So far that I'm already two moves in and I have no idea what to do. There's absolutely, maybe it's one of those where you gotta (bangs each side) that was a try. That probably did it. No (chuckles). Maybe a shake. No. What about spinned? Also no. Spin the other way. Doesn't seem to be any moving parts on the inside anyway. Maybe it does have to do with orientation. Say okay, what if I do it upright? (panel snaps open) No, sideways. Also no. Take a closer inspection at the seams maybe. (chuckles) Nothing apparent, nothing. I mean, this obviously has to move. Maybe one, and then the other. Maybe start from the bottom. And then the other. Also no. What about if I do it at the same time? Also no. Huh. I'm at a loss. I really don't know what to do. (panel snaps open) Doesn't seem to be anything on the inside. Aside from seeing that this piece definitely comes off, how it's stuck there? Okay. (chill music) Tree on a box, tree on a box. Why would it be called Tree on a Box? For the obvious reasons there's a tree on a box. But is that a clue, like why is it a tree? I don't know why it's a tree. Maybe 'cause it's made of wood, I don't know. I'm reaching at straws right now. I think I've massaged every single angle of this puzzle. (box rattles) (panel snaps open) Well this is super annoying (chuckles). No, I don't want it to be like an Excalibur, where I'll just never figure it out. By the way, I shot three hours of me trying to do Excalibur again, little bit of an update here, and I just got right back to the beginning, so I didn't upload it 'cause I didn't wanna give you guys another one of these videos. I told you it will uploaded when I finish it. I'm not done with it, I'll get back to it. I keep getting back to it. But I have to have the time to sit down and whatever. I've tried everything. I've read all your comments, I've tried, just, now this thing, okay. (taps box) Oh, this part just, it does move. You can see clearly, this has to be the next part that comes off. (sighs) I think I'm gonna like a little bit of a break. I do that sometimes, just take a break on the puzzle and come back to it. I got some stuff to do. I've been at this for probably, half an hour already so, I'll be right back. Alright (sides snap) you again. So, I thought about this. I thought about what if, okay, this is a tree, this is supposed to be upright, so I think that this puzzle has to be solved upright. But then again, it goes against my instincts because one of the things is on the bottom, and how you supposed to access it on the bottom if it's standing? I don't know, but I'm gonna try to do this, this way. Like, no, okay, well. That was my whole thought process while I was taking a break, so (chuckles) that just went to hell. Oh god. Okay, what if I start upright? And move this one, and maybe turn it, no. (sides snap closed) What if I start here, turn it, nope. (sighs) (chill music continues) I heard something. Oh. I'm pushing at the same time and I kinda heard something, not sure if that-- Ah-ha! (sounds of excitement) Okay, alright, what's the next move? This, oh there we go. There we go! Oh my god look at the inside of this. Oh, that's cool, look at that. Little logo. Man that's well made. Look at at the inside of this thing. I'm still not sure how, that works, like how, okay I need to redo this again, hold on. I'm not entirely sure how this puzzle works. (panel snaps in place) So, I had it upright. I moved it at the same time like this, and then I heard like a clunk. There it is. Okay. But how come it only does it when you move it at the same time? I'm not, now it's locked. But why is that? I guess there's like some inner mechanic here that you have to move it at the same time. That's crazy man, who thinks of this stuff?! Obviously they do but, nice little storage box here. Total time, probably about an hour and a half of brain teasing. Definitely worth it, I mean, this is a really simplistic design and very tricky. Definitely a level eight. I'll leave the link below if you guys are interested in checking this out, and other puzzles. Wooh! Well that was the puzzle for today guys. Didn't spend my whole day on this one, which I'm quite happy about, but it definitely is a good level eight puzzle. So here's the thing.
