hey everybody and welcome back to deeper than hair tv today i am doing a client and yes if you read the title she has not combed her hair since last summer now because of this you know the result is that her hair is locked up there are very very small locks big locks it's just matted and you know she came in with concern and she just was i could tell that she was nervous because she kept saying you could just if you got to cut it off you could just cut it off and i'm like i would never resort to cutting it off there is always a way through this if you are a hair stylist and somebody comes to you with just locked hair because of just you know they might be depressed they might have went through something anything you know we are not here to judge anybody or try to figure out you know a lot of times when i see videos like these on instagram and youtube the comments are like well who would ever let their hair get like that and it's like we just never know what anybody has been through that has put them in this position so that's why i started with the quote that i did a little more kindness and a lot less judgment so i'm starting off by what i did was i wet her hair down and i put in the detox conditioner it has incredible slip and i'm just going to go in with my shampoo comb and i'm going to try my best to comb these locks out one at a time so while using the shampoo comb i realized that that wasn't going to work the teeth were entirely too big to do that so i started using my hands just to see if i can loosen it up a little bit and then i decided to go in with a small tooth comb now usually i wouldn't suggest using a small two comb when i'm combing out a client but with this it kind of was impossible to use such a big tooth comb it just wasn't getting into the matted hair the way i needed it to so i have to use a small tooth comb and sometimes you're going to see me use the rat tail as well just to pick those locks apart now the word of the day is patience again if you are a stylist if you are up and coming stylist and you're in school if this is you if if you're going through this with your hair just know that you have to be patient pick a day when you're totally ready for it because you're really going to have to you know give some tlc all the way around just the way you talk to the clients the way you deal with it the way you handle the hair every single thing you do is just going to take some patience and a whole lot of love so if you aren't equipped for this make sure that you put the client in somebody's hands that is or at least be honest with them you know i'm probably not the best person for the job and maybe i can help you find somebody who is but it's not going to be me me right here i know that i'm equipped for it because i'm into giving love to the hair and you know it's you had to take your time with people everybody's been through certain things and you just want to give love just like you want to get love so after about 10 to 12 minutes we have that first lock out using the small tooth comb and as you can see her curl pattern is absolutely beautiful and i can't wait to go in and get the rest of these locks out now i'm working on the next section it's like a funny story how i met this woman i was at whole foods and i was like sitting down with my trainer and her cousin and we were eating and this woman walks up to me she's like oh my goodness like i watch your channel i love your work you cannot tell me no i need my hair fixed you cannot tell me no and i'm like i'm looking at her and she was just so excited and her energy just something about her energy and her spirit made me just not tell her no and you know next thing you know we're doing her hair and it's like she didn't even want to show me her hair at first and i'm like well i need to see it because i got to do it and i'm like you know i've seen so many cases with people's hair going through so many things that i'm never surprised by anything so when i saw her hair i was actually more excited than anything that we were going to be able to help her out today instead of being intimidated by it i was more drawn to it and most of the times when we go through trials and tribulations one of the first things to get neglected is our hair i know i've been there plenty of times where i'm going through something and i don't comb my hair for days or even weeks listen sometimes i don't comb my hair for days or or almost weeks when i'm not going through something you know what i'm saying so it is what it is it's just better to have compassion for people because you know i know i said this already in the beginning of the video but you know a lot of times we're like how could they be doing that and how could they not comb their hair and how could whatever but it's like you sometimes you got to think of the reason you know sometimes people don't comb their hair they don't get washed they don't answer the phone you know if someone's going through something we all go through things differently so you know again just have compassion a little more kindness when people are going through things because you just don't know why now check out her hair is done first section is done you see that amount of hair that came out don't let it freak you out remember we talked about this before every day somewhere between 75 and 150 strands of hair are supposed to come out naturally by shedding so when that happens you know you usually are there to comb or brush the hair out every day but you ever notice with a protective style when you have like you know a sew-in or a braids and you take it out you're like oh my god look at all this hair that came out but it's literally because you weren't able to comb it every day so when you finally do all that hair that was shedding is in your hand nail all at one time so that makes it look even worse you know so that's probably most of what's happening of how much hair i had in my hand just now but it's also a little breakage because you know it's pretty much impossible to do all of this without breaking it at all but you know i'm trying my best to do it where she gets the minimum breakage possible now this lock right here was one of the hardest it was like the most matted and it also had a lot of debris so again i use conditioner and i am just going through this and i'm going to get these locks out also i forgot to tell you guys and i'm pretty sure you figured it out already but i have the cap on the remainder of her hair just to keep the hair wet um while i do this because i don't want it to dry out because then i'm gonna have to re-wet it down in order to get her hair into place that makes it easier to comb out so as long as the hair is wet it makes it much easier you do never want to go into combing this out while it's dry you know what i'm saying you never want to do that because that's going to make the breakage a little worse even though the hair is weaker when it's wet it's going to make it easier to get through than if you do it while it's dry okay i know it's probably a little boring watching me comb out each lock so i'm just going fast forward to this next section being done kaboom and you know every now and then she'd be like how much percentage we got left so i i would just be like oh we got we right now we're at 45 so i was telling that we just finished 45 and um i was just so happy to see her hair starting to come together and getting her closer to just seeing her hair out again so i'm just going to twist this up and get it out the way and i'm going to do the next section so i'm not going to comb through any more of her locks on camera i'm just showing you that we are all done this is all the hair that came out all together some people was in the shop like that's like all my hair put together so now i'm gonna go in i have shampooed her to get all that build up out i use the detox shampoo um you can get some of your own from deeperthanhair.com and i am going to go in with the beautiful collection rinse i'll put a link in the box so you can get this if you'd like some and i'm going to give her a black rinse now when i was about to put the rinse on her hair she's like well it's it's not going to take i'm telling you it's not going to take and i'm like listen beautiful collection is the goat when it comes to dying gray hair it is the goat if you have stubborn grays and you want them covered go get miss clairol's beautiful collection it's got you covered no pun intended and listen when i be piping these people up and telling y'all what to use and all of that stuff none of these people pay me to say this like i'm literally telling you guys what works for me and what i've seen over the years nobody pays me to tell you all this information i just want you all to know because that's just how good it is i don't promote anything or mention anything that i do not love so i just figured i'd let y'all know that because i know a lot of people you know get paid to tell you guys to use stuff and i don't i just really want to let y'all know what's good out here now on top of her hair being gray you know i know you can't really tell by the video but her hair is actually also kind of fine she has that soft cotton fill hairs the softest hair ever and is pretty fine so a black rinse or dark brown rinse will help her hair appear a lot fuller so at the end of this rinse i'm just going to take the remainder of the color and i'm gonna make sure that her ends are saturated and the rinse has almost like a leather consistency so it makes it easier to make sure that that color is evenly distributed all throughout the hair and i am just going to clip that up at the top and i am going to go around her edges with cotton now this is a step that you do not have to do at the salon i just like to do this because when you're doing color professionally you want to make sure that it's not dripping all down the client's face or that the ears is all got color on it you just always want to catch that color off the ears and stuff because once the stains are there it's pretty annoying to get off you gotta use alcohol and you'd be scrubbing your life away and um i know we all been there so i like to put cotton around to just help um be proactive so those things won't happen and then i'm gonna put a cap on her head and i'm gonna put her under the dryer on high heat for 35 minutes so now that that color has set it is nice and dark see that how dark and rich it looks and i am going to put some satin shield on her hair and get ready for this blow dry and it also gave it on top of her having conditioner in her hair it also gave it a nice protective coating because with rinses it's a deposit onto the hair as with permanent color it strips color off of your hair so that's why i love rinses because it just adds to the hair that's why a lot of times when you see somebody get a rinse the hair is super shiny afterwards now i'm just going in of course with my favorite blow dryer and my denim pedal brush that's starting to look a little beat up and i am going through her hair and i'm gonna blow dry as straight as possible because i'm pretty sure she's gonna need a really good trim [Music] do now this is what her hair is looking like and as you can see it is so much longer on the right side than it is on the left so i'm just going to take my hair strands of hair shears and i'm going to go in now again i could like i don't know i could have like really went in and gave her a bob or a cut but it's like you know the purpose of saving her hair is so that we could save her hair you know so you know unless she asks for a bob cut i didn't think it was necessary that we went that hard and cut it off so you know i just blow-dried it as straight as i could just so i can get a really even cut and i'm just going to go in and i'm going to get most of that damage off and then i told her that we will work together and get the rest of it off over time so that's what i'm doing right now now i'm just going in and getting this hair all around the shoulders making sure that it's even with the back and then i'm going to also you know frame the front a tad bit and then i'm going to pull her hair out and all the hair that didn't reach all the way to the bottom i'm going to trim it all in between so sorry that it's a little out of focus because it was focusing on her head and not the hair that i'm pulling out but if you watch my videos you've seen this process plenty of times so that's what i'm doing now [Music] so now it looks nice and heavy and chunky on the ends and i think we're going to be off to a good start so next i'm just going to go in and i am going to get my flat irons to 22 titanius and i know you're like when they're gonna be back in stock um we're thinking spring somewhere between april and may they'll be back and what i'm gonna do is i'm just gonna feather her out let her enjoy her length let her enjoy her soft straight hair you know i was going back and forth like a little tiny bit matter of fact a lot a bit a lot of bit i wanted her to wear her natural curls but because she hasn't been taking care of her hair that much i didn't want to put her in a position that would make her have to take care of it any extra you know with straight hair all she has to do is just wrap it every night but with curly hair over time like it could get matted too you know you gotta really really pay attention to your curls so i didn't want her to deal with anything that might end up getting tangled or anything like that so i decided to press her hair straight and then i told her next time when she comes in i'm definitely going to show her what them curls do if you are a naturalista you know firsthand that natural hair is high maintenance it ain't no joke so i didn't want to put her in a position where she had to do all of that and learn all of that the same week that she got her hair revived so i'm just giving her some feathers and you know i can't wait to see how this comes out if you are new to my channel hey how you doing but i just want to tell you to make sure you subscribe because i i was never in the habit of telling people to subscribe but you know i'm trying to get in the habit to remember to tell you guys to subscribe or even if you're old here and you never subscribe make sure you do um some people i got a notification gang i don't know if you that want to do all that but i'd appreciate it if you did so you would know every time that i post right now i post every sunday i try to post every sunday afternoon but right now and then it'd be on the late night people like oh here come keyword middle of the night post i'm sorry like i'm a night owl but i'm trying my best to give them to y'all in the afternoon every sunday here i'm just pressing her crown towards the front to give her a little sexy swoop bang action sometimes you know you want to flick that hair out your eye i love when my hair is like in my face because i be feeling real cute so you know however if you want to just do your hair like this without putting any parts in it that way when you take it down after you wrap it you're free to put your part wherever you want to so that's what another reason why i like to always just do it towards the front so that you know where if you want your part on either side or in the middle you're free to do it but if you press a part in there it will stay now i'm just spraying the glass brain shine on here it's actually in stock so if you want to go get some from deepinhair.com do so and i am going to wrap her hair and i'm going to wrap it flat and i'm going to take a plastic cap and i'm going to put it on her hair and what that's going to do is going to insulate those oils the oil from the heat protectant and the oil from the glassbury and shine and it is going to make her hair lay and be ready a lot sooner you know how your hair is usually the best on like day two or three the cap does it instantly so now that she sat in the dryer with cool air for about 10 minutes her hair is laid it's fluffy it's feather it's soft it's shiny and she is on the road to recovery this is miss gina this is my girl gina and she is looking good she is back to herself and she said she was feeling good so i'm just so happy that she came i'm happy that her hair is in a better place and all she has to do is wrap this up every night with a silk or satin scarf to keep it healthy and get her natural oils from her scalp going throughout her hair and just to keep it nourished and she's gonna be fine she's gonna be just fine so i just want to thank you guys for watching my channel and hopefully i will see you next time and next time me miss gina get together we are going to do her natural curls and that is a promise all right guys see you next time
