for i will rejoice because he has made me glad amen good morning again brothers and sisters online and in the sanctuary members and visitors one thing or two that i would like to pass on to you this morning it is the happiness and joy that is found in the lord jesus it is more contagious than corona but the good thing sister marion it doesn't make you sick rather it heals your body and spirit blessings to you all in the name of our lord jesus now it's time for praise and worship good morning and happy sabbath to everyone we are so happy to worship together thank you eldar for the welcome for those that are here and those that are online at home abroad in your car or wherever you are this morning welcome to edmonton north sda church we are happy you chose to join us today and so we our heads for prayer father in heaven this morning we thank you for the gift of life we thank you for preserving our life our health up until this time and as we lift our voices in praise and titus chapter 2 verse 11 to 13. i hope we are all there for the grace of god disappeared bringing salvation for all people training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions and to live well self-controlled upright godly lives in the present age waiting for our blessed hope the appearing of the glory of our great god and savior jesus christ the church is called to worship so now is the time that we retain our tithes and offerings let's go to the book of second corinthians chapter nine verse six to eight second corinthians chapter nine verse six to eight the point is this whoever souls sparingly will also reap sparingly and whoever souls bountifully will also reap bountifully each one must give a cease decided in his heart not reluctantly or under compulsion for god loves a cheerful giver and god is able to make all grace abound to you so that having all sufficient in all things all times you may abound in every good work let us pray our heavenly father we approach your throne of grace once again with praise and thanksgiving in our hearts we have done a lot in our lives we have placed us with food shelter and clothing during the week we are so grateful lord at this time we are going to dip our hands into our pockets help us lord to give back unto you cheerfully for you want and you would like us to give cheerfully dear lord may these tights and offerings be acceptable in thy sight may they go a long way in the furtherance of your course spreading the gospel to lands far and near may glory and honor be given unto you in the name of our precious lord jesus christ i pray amen so now is the time for the children's story once again we welcome our friends from the lower division uh those that are here i see a few and those are online welcome to all of you and to each of you uh this morning's story is a very familiar one uh and it talks about okay let me not give it away all right let's just go into this story okay uh i'd like you guys to imagine a very very important person right i don't know who comes into mind uh but you know we want to talk about a very important person who was known in the community everybody knew who this guy was and he held a very very high and important office in the nation right so for example let's say um the premier of alberta right uh he's a very important person right mr kenny very important guy he has a lot of responsibility and you know he's long and short of it he's a very very important person right so imagine jason kenny walked in here said okay those guys at nother they are worshiping okay what are they talking about and then maybe he looks online and sees our our youtube stream there and he clicks and he listens and he is the pastor preaching that jesus is coming again jesus is the son of god jesus is the messiah all right but then folks around him are like hey mr premier an important guy like you what you listening to what's what's all this right but this important man he you know he's really riveted in what he's hearing and guess what he decided to check okay so who was preaching at north oh it's the pastor okay i need to ask him something right and so he he checks out okay pastor lives over there okay that's his house okay uh how can i talk to him okay he goes from home saturdays he goes to church that's the church where he worships it okay so you see the setting this is the setting right a very important person here's something and what he's heard is not very popular but he is so interested in what he's heard and he did you know he says you know what i gotta find out what the pastor is talking about so once upon a time a long time ago used to be a a com well in loose terms it's like maybe let's just talk let's just use a term we might know uh and say a cabinet you know a cabinet in government right so there used to be this group of people but back then it wasn't a cabinet it was called the sanhedrin right so these are the rulers who make the rules and make sure you and i uh run obey the rules you know just keep everything in check so there was this important group of people called the sanhedrin and in the middle of this group or amongst the members of this group was a gentleman named nicodemus now this is a group of very important people right they make the rules right you and i don't make the rules we follow the rules but these guys they are the it they make the rules and everybody follows what these guys uh agree so they made the rules uh in the bible you find the story in john chapter three it calls nicodemus one of the rulers so that's not a small guy right a very big big guy so this guy heard about jesus jesus was preaching jesus was teaching and some of the things that jesus was teaching were not very popular with the sanhedrin because it was different from what they used to teach so obviously they were not too supportive of what jesus was preaching but nicodemus listened and reasoned and read the scriptures and he was convinced in his heart that this is true but i gotta find out what's going on why are people not listening to this man but being an important guy he couldn't be seen going and say hey jesus what's going on he couldn't be seen say oh you know talking to him like that he couldn't be seen doing that otherwise he'll lose his position right so what did nicodemus do nicodemus waited one day so perhaps he finished work you know went home like everything is normal sun's about to go down and as the sun went down it's dark everybody's now relaxing and going back home he snuck out of the house and they went nicodemus checking out making sure nobody sees him and guess where he went he went to jesus at night so that nobody could see him so that nobody could see this very important guy going to just a normal person who nobody wants to listen to and he went to jesus by night and he said i believe what you're saying and i'm paraphrasing here what you're saying should be true how can i be born again now that was a turning point he knew the truth even though it wasn't popular but he believed so what is the lesson for us this morning there are things that may not be popular but are true there are some beliefs that we may hold that may not be popular with your friends at school with your friends at work or even amongst ourselves right here there might be things that we don't believe in or that are not popular but they are true here is the challenge this morning if it is true and if it is not popular what will you do this is the challenge i want to leave with all of us this morning the example from john chapter 3 says that nicodemus heard what was true he knew it wasn't popular he made a decision though though he he went around and was hiding and went so that nobody saw him but he made a decision what will you decide when what you believe is true but not popular this is a challenge i live with all of us this morning shall we bow hands for prayer father in heaven we thank you this morning for the gift of life we thank you for bringing to us the reminder of nicodemus and that we are all faced with a an opportunity to take a stand for you we ask that you may strengthen us in our belief that you may encourage us so that when the time comes it may come every day it may come tomorrow it will come next week but whenever the opportunity comes that we may take a stand for you we pray that you may help us to this end in jesus name amen [Music] happy sabbath to all of you thank you we are so grateful before i pray i would like to leave you with this verse that i've always when i am a little bit low and things aren't working well i read these verses i will point you to mark sorry matthew 20 matthew 6 verses 24 no verses 25 and 26 it reads therefore i say unto you take no thought of your life what you shall eat or what you shall drink know yet for your body what you shall put on is not the life more than meat and the body than rem arraignment which is your clothes behold the fowls of the air for they saw not neither do they reap nor gather into bands yet your heavenly father feeded them are you not much more better than they are with that let's close our eyes and pray our dear heavenly father we are so grateful to have a father like you heavenly father you know each and every one of us you know our struggles lord heavenly father at this time we ask that you may forgive us for there are times when we we think we can do better and we forget that you are the provider and you are the father of us all heavenly father we are so thankful that lord you have kept us through this pandemic we are in the second year right now of this pandemic lord but [Music] as we gather here you remind us constantly lord that you are there for us no matter where we go no matter how low we think heavenly father we must just wake up and know that you are the father and you are the provider heavenly father we are so grateful that we have come to a period just just now we've just heard that a lot of kids have graduated lord there is so many people around the world lord that would have loved to go through the same thing that like graduation lord but some of them are no more heavenly father we pray that you bless these children as they go forth with their careers or whatever they choose to do be it work or further studies lord may you bless them heavenly father at this time we also thank you for those people that are busy working to make sure that these kids that are graduating today lord have provisions obviously all that is coming from you lord heavenly father at this time we also want to thank you lord for the gift of life that you have given us lord we also want to thank you lord for all the achievements that we have done so far heavenly father we would not have done those without you just remind us lord all the time that we need to put all our burdens all our joys to you heavenly father and lord on a third note we want to thank you lord and we want to ask for a blessing lord we know that there is a family that has buried a child this week heavenly father i want to place the indiraiah family in your hands at this time lord they are going through a very difficult period in their lives heavenly father may you hold them high lord cover them lord with your holy spirit and may they be comforted lord provide them lord with the hope that all that all that hell they have gone through lord is not that you were not there there is a risen lord which they do not know but lord provide them with the comfort that they need heavenly father at this time we also want to remember those that are in hospitals some are in hospital some are at home lord not feeling well heavenly father we ask that may you touch them provide them lord with relief in their sickness lord and not forgetting lord those that are taking care of them heavenly father give them the with all lord to be able to provide the needs that they require at this time and above oh lord we know that you are the one who provides the healing lord may you give them that healing strength lord that they need heavenly father at this time we also want to thank you lord for the word that we have had this morning lord in our sabbath school heavenly father you have told us about forgiveness we all know lord that it is as as human beings it's very hard to forgive but heavenly father we pray that with your holy spirit may you help us love one another lord and be there for each other lord when the times are hard heavenly father is easier to say that we'll be there for our friends and families but when it comes to the real thing lord it is difficult we ask that lord may you provide us that energy that that wisdom lord that will be there for each other heavenly father at this time i also want to place the preacher the speaker of the day lord who you have chosen to speak to us heavenly father may you hide him under your wings may we not only hear him speak lord but hear you talk to us heavenly father prepare our hearts so we will be able to hear the message that he's prepared for us heavenly father the messages that we hear may they also change us and change our hearts lord because you we have hearts of stone lord convert them lord and make them make them soft lord so we can imbibe everything that we need to to understand we pray all this in the name of jesus amen our scripture reading is from the book of luke chapter five luke chapter five verse four luke chapter five verse four i hope we are all there and when he had finished speaking he said to simon put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch my god add a blessing to the reading of his word now we hear the music of meditation and after that we'll hear the word from god through his instrument pastor samuels for our song of meditation we will make use of hymn number three three five hymn number three three five a very important message in that hymn written back in the 1800s by a gentleman an author of more than 2 000 hymns his name was elisha hoffman and he was a presbyterian minister a son of a minister as well and in this song he he he writes that christ has made atonement for sin which is what we also believe in and he was so convinced about this atonement that he wrote most of his songs that have this message even the song a wonderful savior is jesus my lord that's one of the songs that he wrote so as we sing this song together let's reflect upon these words christ has forseen atonement made and he also goes and say i praise him for the cleansing blood he walks beside me all the way and he gives me overcoming power all this because of the atoning blood christ has made available for so let's sing together hymn number 335 what a wonderful savior christ has foreseen a torn maintenant what a wonderful savior we are redeemed the price is paid what a wonderful savior what a one savior he's jesus my jesus what a wonderful savior he's my lord i praise him for the cleansing blood what a wonderful savior the records my soul to god what a wonderful savior what a wonderful savior is jesus my jesus what a wonderful savior he is jesus my lord he walks beside me all edmonton north sda church i hope you are well this morning and you had a great week thank you um brother dube for that special song we do in do indeed serve a wonderful savior and i want to make sure that he's my lord not just today but every day throughout the entire year we have come to a place in this part of the summer where we know that the pressure is about to ease up and we're looking forward to that time i think around next week or so hopefully we'll hear some good news that will let us be able to see most of you here at church but i'm still leaving it until the end of july just so that i'm i'm clean and i'm sure that it's for real so welcome to those of you out there and those of you here we thank god that he has taken you throughout another week we ask for god's blessing on you it's great to connect with you each sabbath and it's great to see that you have made it through because each week you just never know what you're going to go through you never know what your challenges are going to be but know that as each week begins begin your week with jesus because as you come through each end of the week we hope that you have found jesus so that as you start a new week jesus would be the one that would have taken you through again so very important to to allow your lives to be anchored in the anchor of jesus bow your heads with me as we pray together our theme is fishing for people i'm not an expert in this area but just want to share what i've found and what jesus has put on my heart so let's pray together father in heaven we thank you lord for the singing we thank you for the prayer we thank you for the leading out for all your uh for the participants and your servants that have led out thank you for elder and for those in the morning praying and the sabbath school we pray there lord that you help us to remember that we're a team and we cannot do this alone and i need you right now lord i cannot do this alone we pray for your holy spirit to guide and to lead as we dig into your word lord we pray in jesus name amen amen i just would say a few words and then i'll ask our av team to run a video i'm probably just going to put it on mute because it's it's not the most pleasant language that these people are using but we just want to illustrate a point so as you cue that video uh so the title is deep catch what is in the deep huge interesting beautiful ugly things some are scary and some not so scary certainly there are some big living things that the only people are there are only some people prepared to catch jonah got caught by one of them in the depth of that big fish he cried out to the to the lord uh so we want to see exactly how do some people catch fish maybe just run that video and we'll kind of get a glimpse of these men trying to to catch a big grouper so it says here that two florida men are celebrating the catch of a lifetime after they hooked a whopping 300 pound fish known as the warsaw grouper the super-sized fish lives in the deep waters of the gulf of mexico where it's on where it's known as one of the hardest creatures to hook and even harder to reel in so these are pro fisherman josh joshua finally caught the fish on january 22 after the three-year effort to find one three years according to this statement for provided by fox news so what can we learn from these fishermen who lived their lives to catch fish notice they lived their lives to catch fish what can we learn from them first of all they knew what they were going after right they knew they wanted the grouper not just any grouper but this particular grouper they also had their fuel they had their gear location they knew where to go the gulf of mexico they lost the catch before so they know how disappointing it is when you don't when you didn't get it the first time they had the right condition this time they said they had the right bait uh these guys fish for fun and for competition this is what they do for fun this is not something where they just go and have a feast this is just for fun they have to show that off and take pictures and so on they they in the in the same breath though they still uh exercise teamwork they need exercise teamwork they have support and lots of help four of them had to pull that one fish in and they were excited lots of excitement the joy of catching a fish of that great catch that joy so big for four grown men one of them said could not pick it up so big without foreground man that would not be able to do it and even the four grown man was having a hard time they had a cooler also too i was pretty big they were asking do you think we're going to be able to get it in there and sure enough they got it in it was pretty big cooler and so we have to know where to store the fish too right you have to keep it fresh so in context context determines what is in the depth of the deep places the sea or deep heart of a person in genesis chapter one verse two remember what happened there in the beginning it says the earth was formless and void and darkness was over the surface of the deep and the spirit of god was moving over the surface of the waters the spirit of god was moving over the surface of the waters only god's spirit can bring peace to the deep and beauty of beauty out of chaos only god's spirit can do that in amos 5 8 it says he who made the pleiades and the orion the changes deep darkness into mourning who also darkens day into night who calls for the waters of the sea and pours them out on the surface of the earth the lord is his name in the heart hidden things are only known to the person or to god are those hidden things beneficial to the person or in our hindrance to their future success remember jonah he says for you had cast me into the deep into the heart of the seas and the current engulfed me all your breakers and billows pass over me water and compass me to the point of death the great deep engulfed me weeds were wrapped around my head that's how jonah felt in the deep in psalm 36 verse 6 it says your righteousness is like the mountains of god mountains of god your judgments are like a great deep oh lord you preserve man and beast and last verse proverbs 3 20 says by his knowledge the deeps were broken up and the skies dip with dew so the great deep has so much to discover it's beautiful it's scary it's ugly but there's something out there but the thing is can you do it alone can you venture out into the deep alone it's deep and if you don't know how to dive how are you gonna make it so you need preparation so we're going to turn to the book of luke chapter 5 and we want to see how jesus catch fish how does jesus do it we want to learn from our savior jesus now jesus was preaching to a crowd of people in book of luke here luke chapter five he was preaching to a lot of people and then he noticed that there were two boats by the lake of uh the uh jennifer saret by the lake of gonesserret and he got into one of those boats and these boats had just came back from fishing right these two boats came back from fishing but you notice did you notice what i said there were two boats did i mention any fish no so they didn't catch anything boats were empty so he's in this boat and jesus is preaching first on the the shore and then he got into the boat and he kept preaching then he says so peter when he was finished in verse 4 he said to simon peter put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch now remember he just went fishing and didn't catch anything now he's being told to go do that again all right so that's where we are in the story so how do you feel if that was you that you had just been told you just went out just like that young man you remember tried to catch the first one line broke fish is gone here is peter same thing went out worked all night tired caught nothing now being told to go back out it makes it it's hard to go back out into the deep and work again not knowing if anything is going to happen so how does jesus catch fish he uses human beings that's how he does it he does it uh with the weakest in the faith who is willing to obey despite their lack of understanding notice that as a sinful human as sinful human beings we cannot think higher than we are taught or instructed by the people or we that influence us we listen and do as we are told by our parents teachers and even our bosses but with god we say it with our lips but guess what's happening our hearts it's very far away because we're not sure we we're not used to that so you know we don't know if we should do it or not it's hard to trust what you're not used to in exodus 19 verse 8 do you remember what those children of israel said i think my mic is gone here he said they said um after coming out of egypt remember after being in there so long what did they say to god all that the lord has spoken we will do they were just speaking with their lips but they didn't know really what they meant i think of another one here in jeremiah i have a couple verses in jeremiah chapter 42 and 43. uh the warning was do not go to egypt do not go back to egypt here and here here here are their eloquence in their words verse 5 says then they said to jeremiah may the lord be true and faithful witness against us if we do not act in accordance with the whole message with which the lord your god will send you to us whether it please pleasant or unpleasant we will listen to the voice of the lord our god to whom we are sending you so that it may go well with us when we listen to the voice of the lord our god that is a very big speech but it was all lip service it did not come from the depths of their heart it was pure lip service here let here is what happened afterwards in jeremiah 30 43 when jeremiah went to god got the message came back with the answer well here is their two now listen to what they said azariah the son of hoshaya and jonah and johannan the son of kyria and all the arrogant men said to jeremiah you are telling a lie wait a minute wasn't this the people that says we we would do even if it's unpleasant we're going to do it you're telling us a lie the lord of god has not sent you to say you are not to enter egypt to reside there but baruch the son of neriah is inciting you against us to give us over into the hand of the child deeds so they will put us to death or ex or exile us to babylon so they didn't believe they didn't accept the message how does jesus catch fish we know he used men but he also like those fishermen he knows the location he knows where to go what does he say he says to peter put out into the water and let down your nets for a catch right he says put out into the deep water not just any water but into the deep water he knows what is out there god himself he knows what he's telling you about i remember even peter paul when he was having difficulty i think he was in corinth he told him i have people here so god knows the location and he knows who's there and all we have to do is follow his instructions but not with just lip service it needs to come from the heart thank you so much so he knows what is out there jesus he knows how to catch fish he used men he knows the location he told peter to launch out into the deep waters and he knows what's out there lots and lots of fish of all kinds he knows he knows all living things because he's the creator of them all job he gives us an insight here in job chapter 12 i believe this is i didn't put the chapter down here but job chapter 12 i think it is in verse 7 it says but now ask the beasts and let them teach you and the birds of the heavens and let them tell you or speak to the earth and let it teach you and let the fish of the sea declare to you who among all these does not know that the la the hand of the lord has done this in those in whose hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind so job is telling us you know these creatures they're going to tell us they're going to teach us some things that we need to know and see that god is the one he's in charge so since jesus knows all living things he has the power over them even in noah's day remember the animals the people didn't go in but the animals went in so jesus also knows every one of us he knows how to bring it back right he knows how to bring back the catch right he knows how to bring that back there's boats let's look at verse in verse two and three remember it says here and he saw two boats lying in the edge of the lake but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets so jesus saw the boats he says and he got into one of the boats which was simon simon's boat so he specifically picked simon's boat he wanted to do something for simon and ask him to put out a little far away from the land and sat down and began teaching the people so you notice he did it slowly he didn't just tell peter let's go back out into the deep he continued doing what he was doing and he gradually he picked his boat then he told simon to push out a little bit fishermen are fishermen he's looking for them he's looking for people like peter and people like peter's friends in verse four and five after peter launched out into the deep verse 5 says simon answered and said uh after he told him launch out into the deep simon told the master we worked hard all night and caught nothing but i will do as you say and let down the nets so when peter considered all that he knew about fishing which he firmly stated to the master of all fish we worked all we worked hard all night and caught nothing as if to say why would i catch fish now in the day where the sun is scorching hot and worse time worst off and this is the worst time for fishing with his hesitation he said master so you can see he's speaking with his lips here so he's saying with hesitation master i will do as you say and let down the nets at times we've got to be careful that we're just we're not just using lip service so peter wanted to continue relying on his ability without any help from anyone including his lord confidence is one's own judgment or ability and power without any external aid right this is called self-confidence there's a quote in christ object lesson it says with this spirit it is impossible for anyone to commune with god when you are self-confident it is impossible for this kind of spirit to commune with god when you look at your ability how far do you get do you feel that you get very far with your own abilities well let me share with you a few dangers there are some dangers you will be unprepared for satan and certainly he will defeat you uh you will be easily fallen your repentance will be unacceptable and accepted by god you will fear to speak uh to seek god for pardon you're not going to be wanting to ask god to forgive you you're going to be fearful of that there will be no peace in your life and you will not be able to cooperate with the holy spirit these are dangerous you're literally going to have a difficult time really with your salvation in verse 6 it says when they had done this after they've launched out into the deep when they had done this they encircled a great quantity of fish and their nets began to break right their nets began to break so a big and so great right we are excited but we cannot bring it back into the land alone huge catch but we can't bring it back in alone we need help who will who will we call for help our partners our friend fellow fishermen right we need teamwork it's a team support let's look at verse 7 it says so the sign they signaled to their partners in the other boats for them to come and help them and they came and filled both of their boats so that they began to sink i mean this was a lot of fish the nets almost broke and the two boats were full and they were sinking remember they came back with empty boats so what's changed this time jesus was present self-confidence does not do this so you have to decide am i going to live my life being self-confident focus on myself my own abilities my own ways don't want any help from anyone is that how i'm going to live my life well your boat is going to be empty your life is going to be empty you cannot live by yourself what happened to peter what happened to peter let's look at this but when simon peter saw saw that he fell down at jesus's feet saying go away from me lord for i am a sinful man this is how it is we can't we want to get rid of this thing but we can't do it ourselves you find that peter uh look at his language he's literally being rude to the lord go away from me lord god go away from me can you imagine when we get into this state where we we realize that we cannot do something how do we treat god the first thing we do is we tell god go away from me we give him the hand because we realize our sinfulness we realize that we cannot do it alone we realize that doing it by myself does not work we're talking about how to catch fish i don't know why is pastor talking about repentance you cannot catch fish without your heart being clean else you will give the other people your heart and both of you will become like rotten fish spoil smelly our hearts must be in the right place so peter he should be excited here right with all this fish he should be but he's not because he could not take any credit for what he saw and that's what brings us to humility because when we see when god pay that bill helps you to purchase that house you're wondering but i couldn't have done this on my own and you humble yourself you realize god only you could have done this only you could have done this lord right so in verse 9 it says for amaze peter was was behaving this way because of what he saw the amazement that had seized him and all his companions because of the catch of the fish can you imagine fish can draw someone close to jesus right so the very thing that you are going after that you can't get when god shows you how to get it it brings you closer to him he understands what you're going through and he's still willing to give it to you but are you willing to appreciate what he did what he did are you going to thank him are you going to rely on him thereafter or will you go back to where you were because this heart here it's very hard to change it's very stubborn verse 10 says and so all were also were james and john the son of zebedee who were partners with simon and jesus said to simon do not fear don't you dislike those words after you feel so low like you could crawl through the floor the lord says hey do not be afraid it's okay he understands you he knows your heart he's not there to make you feel bad you're already going to feel bad on your own you don't need help and sometimes some of us we like to help others feel worse than they are we don't need to do that you're going to feel bad on your own already he says do not fear from now on i'm going to move you up so i get promoted when i'm humble yes you do he says from now on you will be catching men not fish anymore you remember how jesus catch fish he used men so if they have more men they'll catch more fish right why waste time on one person to catch fish when you can have many of them to catch many fish so we're limiting our power we want to focus on me and me only and myself and no one else but god is teaching us some things he's teaching us that we need each other we need to know the location where we're going we need to realize that we need help we need help of those who are willing to go we need a boat to bring the catch back this means we will draw people to christ by our love so that boat is your love you need to be in a loving relationship with jesus that's what's going to draw people hearts that will depend on god that's what we're going to need we're going to need these kind of hearts we're going to need these kinds of hearts so no catch at first right you fail at first but that is in preparation for a great catch that will come and i want to appeal to you with this uh remember now peter at the end this is in john chapter 21. uh jesus already manifested himself to them after his resurrection he showed himself to them and remember what peter says hey i'm going fishing he's back back at it again he's gone fishing and what did the guys say i'm going with you you see when you're catching men you have to look for those who are willing to pull others they're going to bring others with them and that's with peter they say oh i'm gonna go with you so here they are out there fishing what happened nothing no fish they hear a voice hey have you guys caught anything no we haven't caught anything throw the net on the other side they throw the net on the other side what happened fish right away okay john whispers the one who jesus loves it's the lord peter peter you know peter who peter is he doesn't have his clothes on he jumps into the water to swim and goes to the lord then it says the boat was not far away so he didn't have to do that but that's just peter that's just peter peter is bold and he gets there when they get there what do they see happening jesus already have fish on the stove ready to go you guys are hungry hey sit down eat and then the part that is challenging which is what motivates the heart when jesus had finished breakfast he said to peter simon son of john do you love me more than these he said to him yes lord you know that i love you he said to him ten my lambs he said to him again second time simon son of john do you love me he said to him yes lord you know that i love you he said to him shepherd my sheep he said to him a third time simon son of john do you love me peter at this point was grieved because he said to him a third time do you love me and he said to him lord you know all things you know that i love you jesus said to him tend my sheep so jesus keeps asking peter about this love we need to know the love that we have for god that's what's going to draw people that's what's going to take care of the sheep that's what's going to motivate you and move you to do the work of catching fish most importantly to catch human beings so i pray that god will teach you this lesson that you know it's important to yield your heart to him yes we can have all the equipments and the tools and everything that we can to muster up we can know the location but you could get there and your heart is not in the right place and you will just drive the fish away the fish won't even come to you you will drive you can't come back with your boat empty because who's in charge of the fish god is and he says ah fish just stay down a little longer this one's not ready god's talking to his people we want to fill this church with people but he's saying uh folks just hang on a bit i need to talk to north the hearts need to be worked on so we need to really check ourselves jesus check my heart is it regulated is it working am i do i have the love that i need to have for people or am i just focusing on myself because self will not get you anywhere it's all about the love for god and for others if this is your desire to let the lord work on your hearts just bow your heads with me and i'll pray with you the father in heaven thank you for the simple lesson for helping us to realize that yes you use men to catch fish but lord we know that there is something even bigger that you use and that is the hearts of the men and the women and the children lord i pray that you will help us to humble ourselves to depend on you for you know all the fish you know all the hearts of the people and you know when to tell them to come and when not to come because you don't want them to be disappointed lord you have seen the heads and the hearts that have that are bowed i pray their lord that you will speak to those hearts and you'll help them lord to devote themselves to you and allow you to change their hearts change mind to lord i pray in jesus name amen for our closing song will he use him number 508 him 508 anywhere with jesus shall we stand anywhere with jesus i can safely go anywhere with jesus i can safely go anywhere with jesus i can go to sleep when the darkening shadows round about me creep knowing i shall wake and nevermore to roam anywhere with jesus we'll be home sweet home anywhere anywhere fear i cannot know anywhere with jesus i can safely go i'm just going to leave you with one quote from christ object lessons as we close it is not only at the beginning of the christian life that this renunciation of self is to be made at every advanced step heavenward it is to be renewed all our good works are dependent on a power outside of ourselves therefore there needs to be a continual reaching out of the heart after god a continual earnest heartbreaking confession of sin and humbling of the soul before him only by constant renunciation of self and dependence on christ can we walk safely father in heaven we know that with you wherever you're going once we're going with you lord we will be safe we pray father that you will teach us how to renounce self and how to let you lord be the one in the driver's seat the one that is leading the way leading our lives we pray be with each one we pray now unto him who is able to keep us from falling and to present
