[Music] happy sabbath once again church family for those one who are here happy sabbath and for those one who are online happy sabbath to you we welcome every one of you to our divine service and for that i know that we did the announcement this one i kept it for this moment so that it can go a long way broadcasted we know that from last thursday we have been allowed now the attendancy in our building for the one third of the fire accord so that means if you were just worried about the number of people coming to church we have opened up a little bit so if you are really longing to come back and worship with us into the sanctuary you are welcome to do so but follow the guidelines everything will be over and we praise god already for this stage may god continue to work his wonders as his children wherever they are they are longing to come back into the sanctuary and praise him and worship him so this time we are calling for the building committee to come and present their project to the church happy summer church we thank the church leadership to have awarded at this particular moment as a building committee to have something to say you remember couple months ago i think it was february 27th we launched the building committee day and we had a sabbath special speaker from africa and it was a good day and that day we said we were launching the building campaign and we promised that one day we'll be back with our plan of action strategies we are putting up so that we can be able to deal with some aspects of our building project which is first of all to target the mortgage and see if we can pay it off and they have a clear load for us to go ahead with our project i just wanted to say that we are still motivated and we believe that with god everything is possible and for us to again say something today i just wanted to remind you that our focus is the book of haga and the model verse is verse 4 is it time for you yourself to dwell in your paneled houses and this temple to lie in ruin now therefore thus say the lord of hosts consider your way this verse always resonates in my mind and today is an opportunity for building committee to make make you aware of the strategies we have to tackle the mortgage payment i will call my brother nelson to come and give details of this strategy plan and i pray that the spirit of the lord will guide us as we do so thank you very much uh good morning north edmonton adventist church i also like to greet those that are at home that are watching in the comfort of their homes happy sabbath i'm just going to try to be briefly though maybe i may belong so uh forgive me for that so as eldon degesius said i'm here on the platform for the building fund i think um it's been over 15 years uh it has to right it's been over 15 years that north edmonton has been building and we've had a lot of comedies in the past that have done a tremendous job to get us to where we are right now and uh this year the comedy has sat down has had many discussions obviously via zoom to try and come up with a strategy that will challenge everyone everyone those that still worship with us those that once worshipped with us to put together the funds that are needed to pay off the mortgage i think as we as it stands right now our mortgage is about 289 000 that was still need to pay and um going back to this vest that eldon de ghazi has just read that says is it time for yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses and i'll say that most of us have god has blessed us you know i think we live we're not above average but we are able to provide for our families comfortable and if we come together work together the burden that's on our church in terms of putting funds for building can be very light now this is what we've come up with and by doing that i'm hoping that members will not see it as a way that we've put people into clusters now we've got tire one tire two tire three and tire four so on tire one and this has to happen in seven months that means june up to december we have to squeeze in and try to put these funds together so on tire one we've put members that were soliciting five thousand dollars from that household meaning that from now till december we'll be expecting about 750 dollars from those families and at the end of the year they'll have contributed 5 000 and we did a little survey and it can be done there are people already that have already that um volunteered to be in those tires not that they're making a lot of money but they they know that if they take here and there they can make it happen so that's taiwan taya two uh is those members that will contribute 3 500. so if you're contributing 3 500 if my math is correct you'll be contributing about 500 i think it's 500 or 550 per month i had an excel spreadsheet but unfortunately we couldn't put it up there so if you're grouped in tire two as a family uh we're hoping and praying that uh we'll collect that money from those members then we've got tire three tire three means members will contribute about 2500 right then we also have tire for for for younger people and we also have tyre 5 that includes members that have worshipped with us at north that will also want to see this building coming into a reality so we're really asking everyone to partake and if like we see many churches are doing it obviously maybe not so much into our denomination but many churches out there it doesn't take them a lot of time to build churches and we're asking was saying we can go out of our means out of our ways to try and put resources and fund the church building we've got the land that's there already you know and if we all come together pull together we should be able to raise those funds so if we contribute money that based on the tires that we have we should be able to to collect over 260 000 as at december 31st if we all pray about it and want to do it so bad you know and um those who've been maybe neglecting getting over time from their employers employers you can go and ask for overtime or do an extra job you know it's just an extra expense that if we all do it we will be able to pay the mortgage and look into the next phase of actually building the church now what we have done in recognition of those you'll be receiving these certificates of recognition based on your tires right so this is one example that says uh this certificate of recognition uh certificate is awarded to soren so for her generous donation of the money that uh we are asking you know from that cluster so my prayer as well as which i hope it will be your prayer is that let us pray about it it can't be done let's try god and test him and see that you will not see us through on these but it can be done other communities have done it why can't we not do it i think it can be done so once again we'd like to thank the church for giving us this platform but we people from the building committee will be getting in touch with the members and within a week you'll receive your certificate if you have any questions you can address them to sister claudine you can address them to eldar degese or myself and camels one thousand york of oxen and one thousand female donkey he also had seven sons and three daughters and he called the name of the first jemima the name of the second casia and the name of the third carrying her patch the emphasis on this verse comes from the beginning of chapter 2 of verse 12 it says now the lord blessed the later days of job more than his beginning i'm reading this verse for our offertory service why did god bless him this much it was because of his faithfulness so i invite all of us to be faithful to our god in bringing tithe and giving offering and so was with job so we hope it will be with us in our later days we all know that we are still using the same way of returning and giving our offering by either online or dropping by at the church if you can't do both of these please call the pastor and make arrangement to pick up your envelope of tithe and offering let us pray our heavenly father we thank you for your faithfulness we thank you for your kindness uh today i'm going to talk about a popular topic and i'm sure you've heard this little story so kids pay attention um what's that i seth yeah said look up can you hear what i'm saying that's good all right guys listen to this story okay so tommy was really really tired of playing in the house he had played with his toys he had run around the house and he was so tired of actually playing in the house and it was beautiful just like as it is today and he wanted to go play outside so he asked his mom mom can i please go outside and play and the mama's like no i'm still busy and i need to watch you so you can't go outside i was like please please mom i promise i will stay within the fence and just in the frontier i promise i won't go anywhere so the mom looked outside and he understood she understood that yeah he really wants to go outside and play it's like if you promise not to leave the front yard then you can go outside he was so happy he jumped up and down and then he rushed outside and went outside to play he was just there for just a couple of minutes just to hear a big sound coming it was like banging banging banging people were making noise and i was like what is that he started looking towards the street just to see a number of his friends they were coming in and they were chanting we're going to fight the bees we're going to fight the bees and we're going to take their honey and they were banging on their pans on the cans and everything else they were making noise and they looked so much fun they were having so much fun doing that and he wanted to join and then when they just reached on his yard there there's like oh tommy you want to come join us it's like no i promised my mom i would just play in the front yard i'm not going there it's like oh come on they have a bunch of bees there that we want to go catch there honey don't you want to come along it's like no no no i promise i can't go i was like oh it'll be just for a few minutes and your mom won't even notice that you left the yard it's like oh it really looks fun where you're going and i really want to join you but i don't even have a pen to to to bang on and then one of his friends was like oh no i can give you mine here he also grabbed one of the cans he was like okay i guess i can go just for a few minutes mom won't know this okay let's go so he joined and he continued banging on his on his team that he got from his friend he's like we're going to catch the bees we're going to fight the bees and we're going to take their honey so they reached on the tree with the with the bees and one of his friend goes like oh tommy you are the tallest how about you just hit where the bees are and then when it falls we will just catch the we will take the honey we'll help you take the honey tommy is like no i don't think so i was like come on here is a stick with you it's like i'll even give you my stick tommy was like no i was like but you're the tallest you're the one who can reach there it's like okay i will do it so tommy grabs the the stick and then he pokes at the beast guess what there weren't bees they were wasps and the wives were very angry and do you know who they were angry at outside they were angry at sad not upset but i told me right they weren't angry at yourself they were angry at tommy for having disturbed them right and they zapped up and they went and attacked poor tommy they beat him all over and tommy was running around and he went home mommy mommy the wops beat me it's like there are no waps in the front yard how did this happen it's like we went to get some honey and there weren't bees they ended up being what's like oh no these are very very bad you got bitten a lot so we have to take it to the doctor so they went to the doctors and they gave him some pills to take and they sent him home he had to stay home and he couldn't even play outside for two or three days and then mom came to tommy he's like tommy how you doing it's like i'm okay it's like so from all this what did you learn did you learn anything oh mom i learned so much i can never never leave the yard without telling you i will always always obey you whatever you tell me i will do i will always seek permission before i do anything else and the mom was like yes do you know that the bible actually tells us that we should always obey so-called colossians 3 verse 20 actually says children obey your parents so boys and girls today obey your parents in everything that you do because bees can tend not to be worse okay we will just say a little prayer before we go thank you jesus for the children in this church thank you for the children in the world oh lord we pray that you will continue giving us the strength to continue pushing along and send the holy spirit to be with us through it all in jesus name i pray amen good morning church i will invite you to kneel down as we pray wherever you are if you are comfortable uh father what in heaven we want to thank you this morning for the beautiful sabbath day that you have given to us we want to thank you lord for the gift of life that we enjoy from you all the time of all the days of our lives a gift that comes to us pricelessly i want to thank you lord for your endless mercies and love that we receive from you all the time we want to thank you for everything that we cannot number want to thank you again for your son who has died on the cross to save us from our sins continue lord to bless us allow us to come close to you and teach us to allow you to come into our hearts and stay with us i want to thank you lord for the days of the week that we went through they were hard for some of us they were hurt in many respects we work seven six days and our bodies feel tired was subjected to emotional stresses and things that trouble our minds things that even harass us and even tempt us to go away from your life but lord we are thankful because you care for us and do not allow that to happen we bring people that are hurting because of various things that have affected them we want to remember this wonder family brother alex who has lost a brother want to remember the rare family that have lost a child there are many others that we do not know that we may were unable to even name but lord you are looking at each one of them wherever they are we ask your comforting spirit to fall upon these families so that they may feel your spirit talking to them giving them the comforting message not we cannot do anything better than you can do we can express those words of condolences we can go and share the few moments together and live but you do not live you are bite forever lord we ask you to be with them they are those that are sick in different places and we remember brother marcosa in a special way this moment we thank you lord for the process of century that has gone through now the healing is all yours we invite you to be with him many others that are sick we bring them to you sister and up brother eltas wanda sister we remember sister jennifer and lord again we cannot name them all but you know them we don't have the family of the week that we can mention by name right now but there's a tradition of this church there is one whoever they are lord bless them in a mighty way so that they may feel your power in their lives and bless us all because we know that you love us the same so we surrender ourselves to you and now i'm going to sit and listen to your message your word that is power that is life that is knowledge that is light to us lord as your one of their agendas is to ensure that you do not move to ensure that you just stay where you are and not be affected by anything that you hear the servants of god say sabbath in sabbath out and not be moved by the scriptures that you read maybe sometimes on your own and not be moved by any prayer from anybody or even yourself just stay there sit there do nothing that is the agenda that the devil has to just have you sit and not change and not move when you hear of programs trying to build up a sanctuary in which the lord can be worshipped a house of prayer the devil wants you to just not be moved when you hear the word of god coming from you in the many various ways that it does he just wants you to not be moved because he knows that god wants to take us from faith to faith to faith to faith and that is movement so what he wants is to stop that movement because god knows when you go from faith to faith you become sanctified you you you grow in faith and he doesn't want that so this morning maybe let's let's let's set it in our hearts to to make a move whatever may come this morning ask god to give you something to hold on to that will move you that will take you from the current situation that you are at and put you on a higher plane i don't think there is much more that we need to do but to keep growing in our faith and will attain that righteousness that we all ought to so let's get ready to move this morning and uh let's let's shame the devil and what his plans and his hopes and dreams and allow god to talk to us mark chapter 4 and verse i'll read verse 35 to 41. it's mark chapter 4 verse 35 to 41. now read in your hearing on the same day when evening had come he said to them let us cross over to the other side now when they had left the multitude they took him along in the boat as he was and other little boats were also with him and a great windstorm arose and the waves beat the boat so that it was already filling but he was in the stern asleep on a pillow and they awoke him and he said and said to him teacher do you not care that we are perishing then he arose and rebuked the wind and said to the sea peace be still and the wind ceased and there was a great calm but he said to them why are you so fearful how is it that you have no faith and they feared exceedingly and said to one another who can this be that even the wind and the sea obey him shall we pray heavenly father speak to us now in this hour your children are here gathered lord in church and online please talk to them and while you talk to them father do not pass me by christ mighty name i pray amen so the bible says one day jesus said to his disciples let us go over to the other side and they got into the boat and i want to say jesus knew where they were heading to jesus said let's go over to the other side and he knew only he knew where they were heading to and if you continue to read onwards to chapter five it says when they got to the other side when they crossed over the lake they got to the region of the jedi scenes and what happened there at the region of the jerusalems jesus knew that there would be a man possessed by demons over there jesus knew that he would have to fight those demons and cast them out jesus knew that once they cross over to the other side he would have some work to do and in chapter five it talks it says that there was a legion of demons and when they were cast out into some pigs they numbered about 2 000 pigs fell over the cliff so jesus knew he was going over to fight with 2 000 demons and so back to chapter four what did jesus do as they got on and he told them to go to the other side jesus went to sleep he went to the back of the boat and he went to sleep now i want to talk a little bit about sleep this morning i want to talk a little bit about sleep this morning i i once i once saw a saying that said don't give up on your dreams keep on sleeping as funny as that was to me i later on i thought about it and i said you see sleep may be one of the most vital functions alongside eating and exercising that we as humans do see it is a vital aspect that we that we often take for granted and here are a few facts about sleep according to professor walker who is one of um professor matthew walker who is one of the world's most foremost leading experts on sleep and particularly for men i think maybe i'm having issues with my mic one two okay thank you a few facts uh about sleep this morning according to professor matthew walker who is a sleep scientist one of the foremost leading experts in the field of sleep he says men who sleep less have significantly smaller testicles than men who sleep eight hours or more on a daily basis the men who routinely sleep about four to five hours a night will have a level of testosterone which is that of someone 10 years their senior so a lack of sleep will age a man by a decade in terms of that critical aspect of your well-being and there is an equivalent impair impairment of reproductive health in females too caused by a lack of sleep you see sleep also is vital for for learning he says you need sleep after learning to solidify the memories that you have created while learning and on top of that you need sleep before engaging in any learning to prepare your mind to learn optimally even more disturbing they have noted that even one hour of change in sleep can have significant effects during the daylight savings that we do in the northern hemisphere in in spring i think about 70 something 80 something countries go through it with about one point something billion people during daylight saving in spring when we lose one hour of sleep there's a subsequent 24 increase in heart attacks the following day and in autumn when we gain that hour of sleep there is a 21 reduction in heart attacks and that is incredible to me and there is a similar profile he says for car crashes for road traffic accidents and and even suicide rates that when this daylight savings occur and concurs and we lose an hour these things increase so you can see the relation between that and and sleep he says also that there is a link between lack of sleep and numerous cancers and he says that the world health organization the who has classified any form of night shift work as a probable carcinogen because of the disruption of sleep rhythms so they've classified night shift work as something that can probably cause cancers because of its disruptive effect on your sleeping all this very depressing facts about sleep but at least with sleep it's something that you can change by changing your habits changing your sleeping habits and you can reap the benefits it's not like say aging where there's nothing you can do about that so what are some of the key keys to good sleeping that professor walker says and talks about he says number one regularity go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time weekday or weekend it does not matter if you develop regularity in your sleep pattern you will reap benefits because you will now get to get to get the benefits of that deep sleep that rem sleep that is necessary dead in the middle of the night to rejuvenate your body and your mind and number two he says keep it cool your your body needs to drop its core temperature by about two or three degrees to initiate sleep and to stay asleep and that is why you find it easier to fall asleep in a room that is cooler than in a room that is hot it says that approximately 18 degrees celsius is optimal for most people's sleep but from a biblical standpoint i posit this morning that jesus went to sleep because he knew what he had to deal with on the other side in the garage scenes he knew he had to recharge and be ready to face that challenge you see some of us know the new days and the new weeks that we have to face at work and at school and we know that most times they are not easy and we know that we should be resting but yet we find ourselves watching tv into the morning or we stay on social media and devices well into the night and into the morning and some of us have friends in different in opposing time zones from us that we we chat with at the perils of our sleep and come the new day in the new week we are ill prepared if at all to face it even the assignments that god almighty has for us each day we miss because we are tired and grumpy see opportunities to witness on the way to work or to school become road rage incidents instead we become we become very violent in our behavior because we are not rested enough we react in an unloving manner to situations that call for tenderness and for care i i remember a story that my friend once told me he said one night one friday night he didn't get enough sleep for some reason and he he went to sleep early morning sabbath and he still had to wake up and go to church and so he jumped into his car and he was driving and someone cut him off on the streets and he got upset and he drove his car to besides him and he rolled down his window and he yelled out profanity and he did all sorts of gestures with his fingers and he drove off and went off and he says as he was parking at church that same person who he had just yelled at came and parked right next to him and all he could say was happy sabbath and the other guy said happy sabbath i suggest all because he had not had a good night's sleep these things become amplified when you are tired and when you have not had the sleep that you should have i want us to know too that in genesis chapter 28 we learn about jacob about what happened when jacob went to sleep one night in a desert and he only had a rock as a pillow you see the bible says he had a dream in which he saw a ladder planted on the earth and reaching up into the heavens and on it were angels descending and ascending and god spoke to him and made a promise to keep him and to multiply him through his seed and they would be as numerous as the stars in the sky here i want to suggest that you see when a believer sleeps when a believer sleeps that is a combination of good sleep and faith the one whom he believes in reveals things of glorious nature to him god answers the prayer of the faithful and in in first peter chapter 3 and verse 12 it says the eyes of the lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer i want to suggest that revelations of the path you should take are shown resolutions to the problems pestering you are given and i'll suggest while you sleep answers to difficult and troubling questions are given strength for all manner of trial is given peace to all form of turmoil is given you see the story the dream suggests that angels take your petitions up to heaven and come down with solutions from heaven to you you see they go up with your cries and they come down with your praises and they go up with your sadness and they come down with your joy and they go up with your temptation and they come down with resistance for that temptation and they go up with your petitions and come down with your answers so go to sleep fellow believer and take care of your body and your spirit and god will reveal himself to you you see samuel the prophet samuel heard god call his name in his sleep the plan even for for jacob to take laban's livestock spotted or or speckled came to him in his sleep in a dream joseph had dreams that signaled and were the beginnings of his ascent to rulership the three wise men had dreams not to go back the way they came to to herod and joseph mary's husband was told in a dream to go to egypt and was also told when to come back from egypt in a dream and i say to you when you know you are going to face demons when you are going to face adversity and when you are going to face challenges and enemies and problems and indeed when you know you are going to face this world of sin go to sleep get refreshed in your body and refreshed in your spirit and you will have the armor to take on whatever is on the other side of the lake as i put down the phone i suggest no later than 9 30 p.m and then go to sleep no later than 10 pm and you'll be rejuvenated mind body and spirit but what is more important to me at least in the story is that when they had set out in the boat a vicious storm began to brew it says thunder and lightning and waves were tossing left right and center enough even to scare these experienced fishermen that were on the boat with jesus what is interesting to me is that through all this jesus was asleep you see he says thunder cracked like it does in some places in africa that i've witnessed in the african savannah it cracked in such a loud way but jesus was still asleep lightning flashed and shone night into day with dazzling brightness but but jesus was still asleep the pillows tossed high rocking the boat left right and center but but jesus was still asleep you see it says jesus went to the stern and the stern is at the back of the boat and he he lay down on a pillow and he fell asleep and the the story says that water started to fill the boat and nearly drenched everyone which suggests that jesus too was getting wet but jesus was still asleep and would you get up if you were splashed with water i'm sure you would but jesus was still asleep it seems that nothing could wake jesus up not the lightning not the thunder not the water tossing left right and center but my bible says that when the disciples and parenthesis in practice when the believers cried out master master in practice jesus jesus then and only then did jesus wake up and calm the storm and i don't know who needs to hear this this morning but when the storms of life are tossing and turning and when the lightning is cracking and the thunder is raging at you and nothing and no one seems to care just call the name jesus and the master will be there you see when the tempest is raging and the pillows are tossing high and when the sky is overshadowed with blackness and no shelter or help is nigh when each moment so madly is threatening a grave in the angry deep call upon jesus name and he will take care of you whether the wrath of the storm tossed sea or demons or man or whatever it be no matter no water can swallow the ship where lies the master of ocean and earth and sky call upon the name jesus and he will take care of you you see that's all it takes that's all it takes to call upon the name jesus and he is sitting waiting to hear a believer call his name and he comes rushing into action and saves the day i see this there's a name that i love to hear and i love to sing it's worth it sounds like music in my ear the sweetest name on earth oh how i love jesus because he first loved me see the name jesus tells of a savior's love who died and set me free it tells me of his precious blood the sinner's plea oh how i love jesus call upon the name of jesus and he will take care of you so so don't be and wallow in your self-pity and in that state that you're in all it takes is for you to call upon jesus with faith and jesus will be there to solve all your problems to save you for my bible says that there is no other name given under heaven or here on earth by which we can be saved so call upon that name the wonderful name of jesus and as well my bible also tells me that at that name at that name of jesus every knee shall bow it doesn't matter what what what problems you are facing at the name of jesus every knee shall bow and i say to you this morning pain shall bow sorrow shall bow grief shall bow and death shall bow for there is no name given in heaven on earth by which we can be saved i remember someone telling me a story of how they overcame a habit and it was a habit of smoking it says that every time he got the craving every time he felt like picking something up he just said jesus just said jesus and that craving dissipated and it went away and that person was me so i am testifying that i have gone through that self they saving power that that name has just saying that name and it transforms your inner being and transforms your wills and your will and your feelings so i encourage us this morning to say the name jesus to call upon it day and night and it will transform us in our minds and in our spirits and in our bodies just call the name jesus do not be quiet if you're sitting in a situation that you know you have no power to deal with if you're sitting in a situation that you know you must get out of there is no other name to which you can go no other person to which you can go other than jesus so this morning my message is simple i'm just inviting you to call upon the name jesus when those storms in your life are tossing when the the sky is dark as a thousand midnights just call upon the name jesus and he will rescue you amen pilot us that's gonna be our closing song for this wonderful service we shall stand as we sing our closing song
