shall see their hopes with thank you lord for bringing us this morning into this house of worship we have toiled all week lord and now we come into your presence to bring our burdens to you to share our burdens and prepare each other's parents these services lord bless them as we continue worshiping and praising you be with those online and be with us in this sanctuary all this we ask jesus holy the book of habakkuk habakkuk chapter two it reads but the lord is in his holy temple let all earth keep silence before him the church is called to worship it is that time when we return our offerings to god uh i have a passage to read here our offering this week is for the local church budget so the story goes on like this one day a fisherman was fishing on the edge of a lake when a grey herring landed next to him a herring is just a type of bed the bed looked into his bucket and saw a fist when the bead when the bed tried to take the fish from the bucket the fishermen tapped him with the end of his rod and made a deal with him every other fish i'll give to you on the condition that you do not steal the fishermen named the bed henry so the fishermen caught a fish and toast to henry the next catch went into the bucket henry waited for his return in an hour he must have eaten at least 10 to 12 fish then he flew away each time the fishermen returned to the lake henry would fly and land next to him the fishermen did have financial resources to give to the local church budget but he wanted to contribute to the ministries of the church he donated the fish in the bucket to the new immigrant people who attended his church the fishermen questioned if this ministry was a way of working for god since he had limited resources henry was god's answer to him in the bible god uses animals to touch our lives and it shall be that thou shalt drink of the broke and have commanded the ravens to feed thee there that's first kings chapter 7 verse 4 giving can also come in many forms time talent or tender may god bless the reading of his word we know that due to covet most of the people are not here in church so you are free to give online and those that are here you can also give online or you can break your envelopes those that cannot give online even though that they are not attending church they can phone either one of the elders or pastor to come and collect the envelope let us pray for tightened offerings our dear heavenly father we are so thankful for all the blessings that you have been showering over us during the week you have placed us in so many ways you've given us good health you've given us a shelter over our head you've given us food to eat there are so many we can't even count all of these blessings lord here is the time that we return a portion of those blessings to you may all that will give back to you be blessed this morning and all those that cannot may you give them something so that they will be able to bring something back to you you you gave us the best example of giving by giving all that you had you gave us your son jesus christ to die for us on the cross of calvary may we copy that example and apply it in our lives every day to give back to you and to give back to the community and society and to give to the people who are in need we pray all this in the precious name of our lord and savior jesus christ amen music it's time at all himself will be and what it feels that is to be there i know the enemy is not happy for us to make this journey and be there where jesus himself will be that's the reason why he keeps blowing the wind and the wind is blowing high strong that it is shaking everyone the wind is shaking the world with the corvid 19. the wind is shaking families by breaking them down the wind is taking our beloved ones so that we can still lose hope to make it where jesus will be i call upon each one of us to take this moment where we are going to kneel down and ask god himself to take care of us because he is the master of the wind i want to tell you that no matter what wind is blowing in your life he is the master let's kneel down and speak to him so that he can speak peace to the wind of my is by praise thank you our god and our father for giving us the sweet hour of prayer father we know that things are happening in our lives and we need the sweet hour where we have to come and pour ourselves before you so that you can take care of us father we are in a season of distress distress caused by the wind that the devil is blowing everywhere father we can't stop calling upon you because we know that you are the only one who can speak a word and the wind will tape oh father so much is happening in this world you see how the wind of this pandemic has blown has created so much confusion in your children i pray that lord at this moment you speak peace in our mind in our heart so that whatever confusion that we may have it will be cleared by your presence in our lives dear father we are in season of grieving you know that the wind is still blowing finding our beloved one and taking them away at this moment we remember our own elder marcos abomadubeko who lost a beloved one a father you know what he is going through not only himself but the surrounding of the family further no one can understand what goes inside the heart of a human except you at this moment i lift every one of them in your hands so that you can bring comfort oh heavenly father sometimes we don't understand what is happening around us in our own families in our own lives things are happening that are shaking us even at sometimes bringing us down but father i call upon you this moment whatever each one of us is experiencing at this moment lord i pray that you come in our life and speak peace so that lord whatever is disturbing us can stop so that we can have a good time to praise you and worship you so that we can have a good time when we come in this sweet hour of prayer talking to you father dear lord the family of the week you have given us the name of our sister magnesh you know her very well for us we may be seeing her just as our sister but lord you know her better than anyone else what i want you now to do in her life lord is to be with her to take charge of her life to take charge of all her challenges and lord make her your own daughter and servant and i thank you lord because you chose her today to speak on your behalf i don't know what you have put on her heart but lord i pray that this morning when she stands here before us may we not see sister nadia mcnish but may we see you speaking to us lord the words of life the words that will bring us peace and comfort and salvation dear lord i can't finish this prayer without bringing you our little ones you know they are still young but they are looking towards us lord so that they can learn to follow you and to serve you lord may we as parents as older people set a good example for our children because what they see is what they will do lord and help us to be good parents to be a good example we know you are the master you are the only example that we can have in this life lord if we can't set a good example for them they will not be able to see you who is our ultimate example dear father i thank you because you can hear unspoken prayers each one of us kneeling here has her or his own unspoken prayers that i can't bring before you at this moment but father i plead with you that you look upon each one of us and answer our unspoken prayers see there is so much to ask for lord but there is also so much to thank you for i thank you for what you have done in each one of us during the past week and i thank you for what you will continue to do for us in the future time to come thank you so good to be in the house of the lord and to be back in front of you um i see we do have quite a few children there so i'll be addressing these people so if i'm ignoring you don't take offense and good morning to everyone online as well i just wanted to ask you guys how many of you guys are going to school in person or online no one is going to school anymore okay i see i see some hands and actually see some new faces so welcome though i may be the one being welcomed but it's so good to see you guys i'm definitely going to meet you later on but today we're going to talk about olivia who just started grade 1. she had been going to preschool but grade 1 sounds to be like a big deal because you are going to a new school you're going to be making new friends and you're going to be seeing new things so olivia was so excited to be going to grade one and the mother had already prepped her they'd already gotten a new school bag to celebrate that and even a new lunch box that had really colorful balloons so olivia couldn't wait to get to school she couldn't sleep the night before and even the following day she woke up super early because she was so excited she went into the dad's room she was working like are we ready to go it's like no no no go back to sleep and wake you up when you're ready and then finally when she finally woke up and the father woke her up was like she went and got ready and they were off to school when they got to school olivia realized that this was even way better than what she expected there were so many children with their parents of course and the place looked so big and she could spot even a playground that had a big sandbox in it so she couldn't wait to go and play there and actually meet new friends they were introduced to miss amina her teacher the parents spoke to her and they went in class they gave her a desk where she's going to be seating and she actually ended up sitting on a very good seat where it was close to the window and she could still see the playground there and the sandbox so the whole time she was in there she couldn't wait to go the parents finally left and this they land and at lunch time it was ready to go but before she left for lunch she noticed a friend of a new girl who was sitting next to her her name was patricia and she looked at patricia and she smiled at patricia when she smelled at patricia patricia didn't smile back instead she stuck her tongue out so she was surprised it's like why i think sticking my tongue out is a very bad thing but why is patricia sticking her tongue out but on when they had a little break she was like maybe i'll try again so instead she asked to shake her hand and this was pre-covered of course she shook her hand and patricia instead of shaking her hand really softly she squeezed olivia's hand very much she squeezed it so hard that olivia was hurt and little tears started coming out of her eyes right and she was so confused it's like why is patricia being so mean to me it's like maybe this is just something that will happen and it will pass so she went back to learning and lunch time came when she got out she went under a tree and she opened up her new lunch box and the balloons there gave her a little bit of smile on her face and she was excited and she didn't even finish her lunch because all she wanted to do was go play in the playground when she got to the sandbox patricia was already there and patricia the first thing she said was you are not getting into the sandbox olivia was so confused and all the excitement that she had for school disappeared the whole day went by and she was so sad and when she got home the father and the mother had made a special dinner and they were so excited to hear about her school day but patricia uh olivia was so down and she wouldn't say anything until they pushed her to say something when she explained everything that happened they were so sad they were so sorry for her and they told her that we can help you get through this right we can talk to miss amina and the next time that anyone who does something to you or say something to you that you do not like you should say stop it i don't like what you are doing then you must walk away all right so i'm sure everyone has heard of this this is called bullying right bullying is not a good thing you should not bully your friends and if you end up being bullied you should always talk to someone above you or someone that you trust a teacher or a parent okay so i want us to read a bible verse and i want you to repeat after me okay so this is in ephesians 4 verse 29 okay are you all listening so i want you to repeat after me because i need to know that you heard the verse okay ephesians 4 verse 29 that's good even the people coming from two passages the first passage is first samuels chapter 14 phase 49 and the second passage is second samuel chapter 3 verse 13 to 16. so i'll read the first passage first samuel chapter 14. verse 49 i hope we are all there the sons of soul were jonathan jeshui and the names of his two daughters were these the name of the first born merabh the name of the yanga ii samuel chapter 3 verse 18 and david said good i'll make a covenant with you but one thing i require of you you shall not see my face unless you first bring mikhail source daughter when you come to see me or when you online worshipers and good morning to those sanctuary good morning or should i say it's almost close to afternoon i thank the lord for this morning i would like to thank the pastor for allowing me to stand in his pulpit to preach and also the elders for agreeing today is a wonderful day and as i sat there i realized that a lot of the things i had planned was not going the way that i wanted them to but you know what they went the way that the lord wanted them to and so i'm very very very grateful for that um let us pray and let us begin their god in heaven you who love love we thank you for this holy sabbath day as i share a word with people the word that you've placed on my heart help me to share it in the way that you would like it to go i hope that it would be your word holy spirit grant me wisdom knowledge and understanding as i share come into my mind and control my mind so that i can share what you want me to share i thank you for this day and open the hearts and the minds of your people to receive what i want i ask this in the name of jesus amen okay our scripture reading oh i i wanted to remind you about the announcements um especially the fact that we have a meeting this afternoon um at six o'clock for the leadership meeting online and then also it today is the last day to register for our biblical principles on that management series and there is one announcement that um um that i actually this is like something that i found out this week and that is that on september 26th the west church have been using their lot for planting and so they'll be having a kind of event it's a like a harvesting event and there is i went there this week it's a huge garden and so they're they're definitely inviting us to join them all right can we go to the next slide please let's get to it my sermon topic this week today is serving in pride elder read the text for you earlier and introduced you to micah who is the mikhail was who was the daughter of saul right thank you mikhail who was the daughter of saul and so mikhail her story is quite interesting she's the daughter of saul and saul was the first king of israel but saul had a very not so good what do you call that now experience in his leadership he went from being chosen by god to being rejected by god and all of that sort of is is is shared with his children because um they grew up in a household where saul was at first he was a man for god he was he was he's passionate about the word but then when god rejected him and the spirit of god left him he became this double-minded person at one point he would want to be singing and praising and worshiping god at one point he would go to samuel try to visit samwell and he would start pra start prophesying before the lord but at another time he would throw a gap a javelin to try and kill david right so you saw he was all over the space and so mikhail grows up in this household now she was raised as a princess and that is wonderful because as a princess she's raised to be a leader among the ladies she is raised to be someone who of great integrity and character she is raised in the ways of the lord she is taught the scriptures right and so she knows how to operate from the laws of moses and from the the writings of joshua and the the teachings of samuel and so mikhail grows up in this environment and as she is being raised her father realizes that she likes david she is in love with david and he now wants to set a trap for david and so he decides to use his daughter as an instrument of destruction now when i read that i thought to myself in our modern times we don't really have this kind of scenario happen as much especially in certain parts of the world but it still does happen for a woman to be used as an instrument of destruction for a man not significant to her story because she is there and she is um she loves david and and so saul marries her off to david and they get married and then her father starts to try and get information from her so he can kill david but god is with them so the first part of my top my topic is at first you trust in god so david trusts in god and mikhail trusted in god and because she trusted in god then we see in the story in first samuel chapter 18 verse 28 um she loved david and because she loved it david she hid her husband to the point where she even um allowed him to escape from saul right as he attempts to kill david repeatedly and so god does great exploits using mikhail then she ends up in a circumstance beyond her control because what happens is after god has used her to hide david to secure david her father realizes that he's not going to win and so do you know what he does he takes her and he gives her as a wife to somebody else now you must imagine you must understand that in order for mika mikhail to uh to marry david david had to actually go and take the foreskins of 200 philistines he had to kill them so this was his diary to the king he had to go to battle to kill people in order to have a diary to marry this woman but when saul sees that she loves david and she will protect him what saul does is he decides that you know what another way i'm gonna try to get david is i'm gonna show her i'm gonna bring her to her by marrying her off to somebody else saul is very double-minded and it inflicts pain on his children i hope you guys are with me and understanding where i'm going with this um so here we are she is within she is found in circumstances that are beyond her control right she becomes the wife of another man a man she doesn't love she doesn't want to be with but she decides to make the best of it and by all commentaries that are found so far they estimate that she was married to this man named peltier peltier for approximately eight to nine years seven to nine years sorry so they're not sure how long she was married to him but she decides to make the best of it so she becomes the wife and she becomes a good wife she starts taking care of his children she starts building him up she understood how to be a proverbs 31 wife she starts building him up because you see me michael is not just any woman she is a princess she has been raised in the ways of the lord and so she comes and she says okay this is not within my control but i can still do good so she does that and then all of a sudden her father dies her brothers die most of them actually not all of them most of them die and the kingdom is given to david her first husband and he says i want her back now she has spent all this time doing all this wonderful thing trying to live in the ways of the lord and and follow the ways of the lord but this stuff is beyond control because she's moving from a man to another man to another man and that's that's not what she wanted not at all she was raised in the ways of the lord she knew what it was to be a faithful wife and to be a wife that invests into a man from the beginning that what that's what she did but here david comes and he says i want my wife back you know the one that i paid the 200 foreskins of the philistines for to to get i want her back and if you all don't um bring her back then don't come to me again i don't want to talk to you i don't want to have peace with you and so abner her uncle says goes to her and says david wants you back and you're going to have to go back to him there isn't an there probably was a shouting match in an argument but she wasn't going to win this one so she leaves and scripture tells you her husband because you see in our modern times we say someone a husband is somebody that you marry meaning you go in front of the church and you marry but in biblical times a husband was someone who you had a sexual relationship with so her husband so now she has two husbands that are alive and the first one has premier claim over her why because he has purchased her at an expensive expensive cost and so he demands her back and there is nothing that either she or her second husband can do about it and she goes back and it says as she is leaving he follows behind her crying meaning that she's a good wife because if she was a bad wife he wouldn't care that she has left so she's a good wife and she follows and he he follows behind her so this is where the story gets very interesting she goes back to david and we hear a whole lot about david's exploits and we really don't hear a much about macau mikhail for quite a while but then but something is brewing because you see this thing that happened has changed her destiny her first um going back to david has now changed the projection of her destiny and we don't know how she is handling we don't know how she is dealing with it but then we start to see it and this is where when i spend most of my time in my service in my sermon today resentment comes discontent comes pride comes arrogance comes because you see mikhail was and i call her mikhail there are different translations different translations that you know spells her name different differently but i think i think the proper pronunciation is probably michael michael grew up in a household where her her father had one wife she became the number one wife of david she was the first one there was no other women there were there were no other wives but because of circumstances beyond her control now she has and she was taken from david given to paul where she is still only the first wife she is the queen and the glory and she operates in her strength she has power but now when david takes her back she becomes a part of a group of wives she becomes a part of a group of wives there are probably six or seven of them from all different nations and tribes and kindred with children with all kinds of situations and now resentment comes discontent comes pride and arrogance comes you see because what starts happening is she starts asking herself the question why is this happening to me i've been a good woman i've been a faithful woman i've tried to kept myself pure i've tried to kept myself holy but the men in my lives have they have brought all kinds of chaos and slowly but surely as she watches her husband she starts becoming resentful how many of us during this time have become resentful we god was with us from the beginning we did great exploits but now we're in a point where there are circumstances beyond our control have we become resentful and prideful lord i i know the bible this is what it says this is what i do um you know nobody can tell me i'm not a good christian because i didn't go to church all the time you're sleeping through the service you're online worshiping you're lying in bed and you're sleeping oh god knows my heart i used to be involved in church have we become resentful and prideful the leaders call us to serve we say oh no i have other things to do like this is such a busy time for me arrogance has set in what i want is more important than what god wants right okay so resentment and pride sets in so i want to read what happens to to um to to me to michael in samuel chapter 2 i'm sorry in second chamber chapter 6 verse 20 it says then david returned to bless his household and michael the daughter of saul came out to meet david and said how glorious was the king today uncovering uncovering himself in the eyes of the maids of his servant as one of the best fellows shamelessly uncovering himself so not only are we arrogant and prideful then we go on the defensive we become ministers of criticism we start commenting on how everything is done oh why are they doing it that way why are we following the lockdown protocols we believe in faith ministers of criticism oh we have the health message shouldn't we be promoting the hat over taking a vaccine ministers of criticism because we believe that we are righteous because of what we have done in the past we speak of the realms of the blessed but we don't understand what it takes to get there i hope somebody is understanding where i'm going with this and i hope that the the holy spirit is helping you to understand what he wants for you in this time because you know this week has been a really strange week for me i started off the week all good and halfway through the week i started having this pain and i it got so bad that i wanted to go to the hospital but i was afraid to go to the hospital because of colvin like literally i was like do i really have to go and i got to a point where repeatedly i was gonna call pastor and say pastor i need you to to speak this today but there was something within me that told me that this was an attack of the enemy and and every morning i worship with someone and so she would call me she's like you you're not doing well and i'm like yeah but i'm not going to give up i'm going to worship god no matter what i'm going to worship god because i know that deliverance comes from worshipping god i know that blessings come from worshiping god so i kept worshiping god but i was struggling i was really struggling and then you see the enemy when one thing doesn't work he comes and attacks another way so one of the things i do is i pray for my team every morning i lead a team and i pray for the team every morning and this week i had i had to have a conversation with with one of my senior members team members and the accusation to me was that i was being punitive in my assessment of something that they had done incorrectly so i was punishing them not that i was sharing with them as the manager my perspective of of how they could adjust and grow but that i was penalizing them now when i heard that i knew i knew that was satan i knew that was the accusation of the enemy you know why because when someone speaks to you about your incorrect behavior no matter who you are but especially if you are a person who say you believe in god you should take it under advisement but when your response is that the person is being punitive that is not of god that is ungodly and unrighteous so you see david is returning from worshiping god and the reason he's worshipping god is because the ark of the covenant which carries the blessing of god was had been taken and had been in the lands of the philistines and now it was being returned to the land of judah and israel and so david is worshiping god he is dancing before the lord he is singing before the lord which is what god wants us to do to rejoice when good things happen but also to rejoice when bad things happen because michael she could have joined in the rejoicing because this was something great and wonderful that had happened it was even um a boost of her father's legacy because it was stolen during the time of saul and now during the time of her husband's leadership it's being returned so here is an opportunity for her to rejoice but instead of rejoicing what does she do she goes on the attack minister of criticism pride and arrogance comes in because of all the things that have happened it has taken a toll on her both emotionally and spiritually and mentally and what what is promised to us is deliverance we are not promised that we will not go through difficult times but we have promised deliverance so here comes the deliverance the breakthrough after all the difficulty she has faced an inconsistent father a husband who is who is under attack a new husband who is who is wonderful who she doesn't love but she makes the best of the situation who now she gets to raise his children and and she is honored why because when she's taken from him he wants her back too so she has two husbands who want her and by all spiritual means based on the laws of moses that shouldn't have happened so here comes the blessing here comes the blessing right so david is worshiping god and he goes to his house to bless the people in this house you see she would be first in line to get blessed because she was the first wife he goes to the house to bless her to bless all his wives and his children but the enemy comes the enemy comes because in all of this she has she has hidden what is in her heart yes she has cried alone but she has hidden what is in her heart she hasn't expressed it she hasn't communicated it not to her fellow man and definitely not to god because if she had the lord would have spoken to her the same way god wants to whatever is in our hearts for us to communicate it to him and to seek his face and to turn from our wicked ways but instead ministers of criticism ministers of righteousness ministers of pride and arrogance so here it is this is what she says to david she says sorry i can't really see with these glasses very far and it says so she says how glorious was the king today covering himself today in the eyes of the maid of his servant as one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself so david said to mikhail it was before the lord who chose me instead of your father and all his house to appoint me ruler over the people of the lord over israel therefore sorry therefore i will play music before the lord and i will be even more undignified than this and will be humble in my own sight because but as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken by them i will be held in honor therefore the bible says i won't get to that i'll get to that later so you see here it is she attacks him but she doesn't just attack him she starts accusing him of all kinds of things that are not even based on reality it's based on her perception because she goes from being wife number one to being wife of of of wife one of seven and all of the sudden she starts accusing him of all kinds of sexual immorality she starts saying you see i i wish the people of god would understand that the devil uses sex because it was a gift from god and it's the easiest target to attack mankind it is the easiest target to attack mankind you know why because here she was a woman who had two husbands who are married who are alive one of them is the king who was anointed by god by all means as the leader and the king anointed by god he should not have gone and taken her back based on the biblical laws he should not have taken her back but yet still he did she knows this but instead of accepting the fact that here she has been exposed and the lord is covering her she goes on the attack with the same infl affliction that she has her own affliction becomes the thing that she attacks david with because she has two husbands that are alive which she shouldn't have now obviously this is beyond her control because her father was the one who gave her the second husband when she didn't want him but instead of saying humbling herself in arrogance and pride the same affliction that she has she uses to attack the leader and the same way we in the church those who are called by god's name are using the same afflictions we have to attack our leaders the same afflictions that we have you see you see the enemy his tricks are not new he uses the same tricks every time because they work they work every time and when we are not surrendered to god when we don't go to god in humility and humble ourselves it gives power to the enemy right now our church is in a transition i know that recently we had a series where we talked about reconnecting we talked about communicating the difficulties that we are facing the problems that we have with each other and that is very very important because i am sure that if not if michael not only communicated to god the difficulty she was facing the sorrow in her heart because of what all that had happened to her but if she had communicated to her to david the leader and to the priest they would have given her counsel but like mikhail we want to hide our situationships we want to hide them the best word i can come up with is situation ships because there are situations and there are situations ships some of them are within our control but some of them are not beyond be within our control and they become situation ships we want to hide them we we say that's my business oh that's private if we look at the center we see that not many things are private in the sanctuary because in order for something to be private it means that it had to be hidden and god operates in light and not darkness so with god nothing can be hidden whatever situationship we have we have to communicate them openly and honestly without attacking anyone because our legacy depends on it our legacy depends on it and our legacies are tied to each other so not only do we have to communicate with each other open each other openly we have to understand that our legacies are tied to each other the outcome of our legacies are tied to each other so what happens after michael does this the scripture tells you that she had no children until her death you see that was a rebuke from the lord because only god can give and take life that was a rebuke from god but the reason that was a rebuke from god was because of the resentment and the attack that she had on the man of god as he worshipped god sometimes we see people worshiping god and all we become is ministers of criticism we have something negative to say some judgment to pass some opinion we have to share but god is calling us to look to him and do not look to what man around you is doing why because our legacies are all tied to each other now i want to share with you a few commentaries that i found not just online but from ellen white and ellen white she says that the judgment of mikhail being getting not being able to have children was god's god adding to david's rebuke of her so david rebuked her for what she said and then god added to the rebuke by not allowing her to have children you see sometimes we see situations and we don't understand that because we have kept situationships god is rebuking us we see the outcomes of our lives and we think that oh um it's um this person or i need to try harder we think we can sort of work our way out of rebuke from god but sometimes the rebuke from god comes in all kinds of ways it comes in broken relationships it comes in having no children sometimes it comes in constant poverty where you're you see people they come and they look great at church but they have borrowed themselves into living they have borrowed themselves into living why because it is a rebuke from the lord i'm talking about stewardship and the reason i'm talking about this is that in order for us to be good stewards we have to deal with the heart issues first we cannot think that the money issues is going to solve the heart issues pride and arrogance are heart issues and we must deal with them if as a church we're going to flourish if as god's people we are going to continue in his way we can't hide them anymore kovit has exposed everything we can't hide them anymore and we must deal with them in order for us to continue so i'm going to share with you what some of the commentaries have also added to this it states um this one is from pulpit commentary it says at gillum she had been party's number one jewel and had and had been loved for her own sake at hebron where david was she would have many rivals but women of royal rank have often paid the price of sacrificed affliction for the end of statecraft it says nearby him on the road to jerusalem to gilgad gilgal in the valley of jordan the convey approached the the borders of judah and abner will not allow the weeping husband to enter david's domain painful as his fate he had himself done wrong in marrying another man's wife and if he was weeping now he may well believe that david had felt equal anguish when mikhail was torn from him and sold to another for fathers in those days received instead of giving a diary upon the marriage of their daughters saul in this matter was most to blame and if he had not committed this wrong david might never have sought an evil solace in multiplying himself with other wives so she attacks the wrong person that is what the commentary is saying she attacks the wrong person because the the the the the blame lays squarely at the the feet of her parents and i want to talk to parents right now i want to say to you that open and honest communication is important for your children no matter how young they are and as they get older the communicate the the the honesty can become more open because as they're smaller they might not understand some things but as they get older you have to communicate with them honestly but when you communicate with them honestly ensure that you take responsibility please when you communicate with your children don't blame everybody else take responsibility because the reason why michael is in this position is so he hasn't taken responsibility all his problems he is blamed on david and he is solely focused on destroying david that he doesn't see that he has destroyed his own family ensure that you take responsibility as parents and that you speak honest to you to your children because know that they're watching you no matter how old you are no no matter how old your children get they watch you you have the most influence in their lives no matter who else they look up to your parents whether they're good parents or bad parents have the most influence in your lives and if you're honest with yourselves right now you will agree with me and sometimes parents are not biological parents as we see in the story of michael she raises five children that are not scripture says she never has children but she raises five children our legacies are tied to each other all right so the last part is our legacies are tied to each other so far i've talked about the fact that at first god is with us and we we perform great exploit and then we get into circumstances that are beyond our control but god is still with us and he preserves us and then all of a sudden something unexpected happens and it starts the resentment starts to build and the discontent starts to build and as that happens we start attacking but the truth is we're not attacking the right people so here it is we've come a rebuke has been given to michael but it gets worse because david and michael's legacy are tied together and you see the enemy came to steal her blessing and she allowed him to because david was supposed to bless his household and whatever blessing he came to bring on the household was interrupted by her accusations and we see what a couple of the consequences of that later on it comes in second samuel chapter 21. it's 21 chapter one um verse one two um can you skip to uh slide number eight please second samuel chapter 21 starts the first one go back one and it starts by telling you that there was a farming in the land of judah for three years and every year david would fast and pray before the lord asking him what was the problem that was causing the family family and finally after three years the lord says the reason is because um saul has um it's because saul dishonored a covenant that israel made to the amorites and so he says okay god what do i do about this he says you have to go to um the amorites and talk to them right and see what they want so he goes and he speaks to the amorites and he apologizes on behalf of saul and they accept his apology and they say you have come to us and because of that we do not want the men of israel to suffer for the sins of saul only the household of saul will suffer for the sins of saul now by this time if the only other son of um of saul had been killed right so all the sons of saul are now dead all that are left are grandsons and adopted sons think about that for a second grandchildren and adopted children are the only ones that are left and the amorites say in order for us to be satisfied what needs to happen is seven sons from the lion lineage of saul needs to be sacrificed and so that is god's answer to david's prayer seven sons need to be sacrificed in order to stop the famine that's gonna kill millions well all because a covenant was broken and so who are the seven sons that get taken two of them are sons that saw had with a concubine but five of them are adopted sons that were raised by michael because our legacies are tied together when we do not communicate when we interrupt a blessing there are consequences when we spend our time criticizing instead of worshiping god there are consequences so that blessing you know that david was supposed to release on michael that didn't get released here it comes the consequences of that where they are asked where david is asked to present seven men of the lineage of saul and of the seven five of them are sons that michael adopted and raised as her own children and remember she can't have children anymore but now her sons the ones she adopted are now paying the price for what her father has done and the blessing that was supposed to come to stop that she interrupted it our legacies are tied together there are consequences for choices that we make that interrupt the worship of god their consequences for choices that we make that criticize the leadership of god the consequences for choices that we make that are based on our own pride and arrogance and our lack of humility i hope that the people of god is understanding what i'm sharing this morning god wants to take us to another level in order for that to happen there needs to be open honest communication not criticism not backbiting not hypocrisy but open and honest communication because what happens during open and honest communication as we worship god he honors us by blessing us and when god bless us the enemy can't steal from us because the scripture says the enemy comes to kill to steal and to destroy but god has come to give us life and life more abundantly and so god wants to give life and life more abundantly even during the time of covet but we have to be honest with each other we have to be willing to expose ourselves let me tell you i had a breakthrough last night yesterday evening as i finished work i kind of fell asleep and then i was struggling with this message i've been struggling all week with the message then sister mishka called me she just left went out she called me and we were talking and i shared with her that i was struggling with praying about an issue of something that is happening in church right now i'm struggling with praying about it because i just don't understand it it just and i see the enemies handing it because i know that the lord has called me to share financial ministry with the church but i see another part of it where the enemy is attacking and i don't understand it and i don't know how to fix it i have tried within my own self to fix it but nothing has happened and i have been struggling and then she says to me let us pray i know you're struggling to pray but let me pray with you and after we were done praying for the first time there was a relief but as i was sharing with her something said to me make sure that whatever you share you're not criticizing just express what is in your heart and i did i said i don't understand it i don't i don't understand it i am frustrated i am frustrated that the people of god does not understand what is happening in the world we still seem to be lullabying through kovid a time of 8 billion people being under quarantine the last time this happened in 1919 if you read the history books it tells you that 500 million people were affected by the spanish flu and it took five years for the virus to disappear right now there are eight billion people affected by this virus and we want it to be disappear in one year so the enemy is tricking us and we are allowing it to happen why because we're not sharing and we're not being honest we're not being honest about the fact that we're struggling as christians we're struggling with praying for each other we're struggling with understanding how each other operates and we're struggling with how this all works out to the end times because when we read the scripture about the end times i don't know about y'all but i don't see how kovit fits into that exactly there are those who are saying the vaccine is the mark of the beast there are those who are saying those all kinds of nonsense theories but there's one thing i can see as i hold on to christ and that is that he is revealing himself to me that he wants to save me but that only happens when i communicate honestly what is happening in my heart i would not have been able to get the breakthrough last night with sister mishka if i hadn't communicated what honestly was happening in my heart the same way those of you who are watching online and those of you who are who are in the sanctuary you will not get a breakthrough unless you communicate what is happening honestly in our your heart not from a place of pride and arrogance but from a place of surrender from a place of surrender communicate honestly what is happening and the lord will allow a breakthrough to come upon you blessings will come upon you i am able to stand here tonight because the woman of god prayed for me last night and cr allowed a breakthrough to happen all of a sudden the struggle went away i knew clearly what i was going to speak about this morning when i spent over two weeks in struggling with what to say i have rewritten this thing like almost every day for the last 14 days but the breakthrough come when i was willing to be honest and the same way the breakthrough is coming for you if you're willing to be honest the lord has already set it up our pastor is he knows that there's an issue and he's already said let us share so that we can move forward the lord has set it up we have stayed faithful in worshiping him but now is the time for the blessing but in order for the blessing to be released we have to be honest with each other and so i hope that as we continue for the rest of our time on earth that we understand that to be a steward means that we have to surrender to god to be a good steward means you have to surrender to god and to your leadership it doesn't mean that they are right and righteous no it means that you honor because you understand that there are times when a blessing has been given to that leader to bless you that will affect your legacy but you have the ability to either allow the release of the blessing or to allow the enemy to steal your blessing time for our closing phone for our
