the father and of the son and of the holy spirit oh god author and giver of peace in whose image and likeness each of us has been created with a human dignity worthy of respect on earth and destined for eternal glory listen to the cry that rises from every corner of this fragile earth from our human family torn apart by violent conflict in ukraine give peace in our time a good and gracious god that peace which as your son jesus christ told us is a peace which the world cannot give to world leaders grant the wisdom to see beyond the boundaries of race religion and nation to that common humanity that makes us all your children and brothers and sisters to one another to those who have taken up arms to attack their own brothers and sisters grant the grace of conversion to the path of peaceful dialogue and constructive collaboration to the innocent who live in the shadow of war and terror especially the frightened children living underground this night be a shelter and strength their haven and hope and to those who have already lost their lives as victims of human cruelty open wide your arms and unfold them in the embrace of your compassion healing and everlasting life time of first world war catholics in this community came before you to ask for peace at the time of the second world war catholics in this community gathered here asking for your intercession for peace and at this moment of conflict between russia and ukraine we come before you also to ask for peace listen to our prayer blessed mother for all those families all those children who are suffering the scourge of war and during this dark hour may your son prince of peace guide our world towards that peace that lasts forever we ask this through christ our lord finally before giving you a blessing i just want to thank you for staying and for continuing to pray for peace um we have dedicated the side altars here to one of the icons that our church has which is inspired in the icon of the blessed virgin mary of saint vladimir who is the patroness of kiev and then ended up in russia and so we ask her for peace right now in ukraine and so know that starting an ash wednesday our church will be open the church doors will be open from 9am until 9pm once again allowing our community to come in and pray whenever they wish to do so thank you for your prayer for peace tonight the lord be with you
