Not bad, considering the Hesco L210 for price

Awesome video. Ordered a set of these about three weeks ago and this helps me reaffirm my purchase.

Nice video...got the itch to get a plate...or I guess a set...hate that this wasnโ€™t on my radar sooner though...awful time to buy...

That's seriously, seriously impressive, and actually what I'd consider a legitimate field test.

Is anyone doing tests on the 1199?

Awesome! Thanks. Was just contemplating which I should go with, or if I can justify spending that kind of money just for the โ€œpotentialโ€ of ap rounds.

everyone welcome back to the range you can see what I have in my hands today so you know what that means it's body armor torture test today we have our ma armaments model 1092 I've been trying to get my hands on one of these for probably a year now and they've been selling so well that it's hard to get test samples so I got my hands on one would have liked to but we'll make do with what we have this 1092 is a level 3 plus plate that is designed for certification for the new upcoming NIJ standards that they've kind of released but not made set in stone yet those new standards are RF one two and three essentially RF one is basically the NIJ three rating we've got m80 ball we have the addition of seven 62 by 39 mild steel core and m193 5 v 6 RF 2 is all of those same threats in addition to m855 in the past a level three all polyethylene plate can stop m193 but it can't stop m855 your reverse is true with steel steel will stop m855 but it won't stop really fast m193 so these new proposed ratings are going to definitely shake up the armor industry a little bit with some of the lower end offerings may not be able to meet the new RF 1 and 2 standards RF 3 of course is still m2 AP armor-piercing or essentially level 4 for anyone joining me on the channel for all of our body our testing we're at 45 feet which is the NIJ testing distance we do a drop test with all ceramic strike faces two times per the NIJ standard on its face I have a little picture and picture down here over here over here over here that you can see me dropping this plate on its face we use a giant clay briefcase as a backer the clay is close to the aroma number one plasty nough that the NIJ uses but it's I can't keep it at the temperature needed because this is backyard testing so it's good good representation of what we're gonna get we're gonna try a few threats against us today and hopefully we have enough for some special threats we'll reposition all of our cameras and get into this testing it's a bow 75 to 80 degrees outside today before I shoot the crap out of this plate it is a multi curve you can see there are quite a few curves there this weighs four pounds eight ounces so this is half the weight of their one one five five level four plate so this is very light in the hands we have foam strike face protection on the front and even a higher density foam on the back maybe to dissipate some of that back face a little bit all right we have our 1092 strapped to our clay briefcase we have our little markers on there that's probably are not gonna stay on there the first shot we're gonna start with five five six threats first we have our laptop screen we don't have the monitor down here for our cronograph readings because one of the most important things about body armor testing is knowing the velocity of the round that impacted the plate because not everything is the same so we have some m193 and some m855 will do the m193 first we have a turbo five five six on this 22 inch barrel this is gonna give you worse case scenario we're gonna start with the upper left-hand part of the plate I also will put a picture and picture down somewhere so you can see a close-up of the round that I'm using velocity 3427 that's that independence m193 velocity 3115 alright here was our m193 and here was our m855a1 we are more than two inches away from each other so those are fair hits we're also far enough away from the edge as well this particular model has a full edge to edge strike face see what we have I'm kind of betting that this stopped it yes it did got two little baby bumps back there not very big but it stopped it so that's worst-case scenario a 22 inch barrel at close quarter combat that's about as fast as m193 and m855 is gonna get we may test m855a1 but Wow I've got a little bit of dimples in the clay I didn't build the clay up behind the plate like I said I just want a compressible media behind you can see how big my clay briefcase is this is the way to run body armor or at least mr. guns and gear uses a box full of sand so there's something behind it throwing these up against the ground or up against some woods not really the right way to go about doing it but impressive from a five four and a half pound plate stop them and now our Soviet friends seven six two by 39 this is the mild steel core variant and by mild I don't mean the crappy salsa you get from Taco Bell I mean hardness of the steel this is on the B scale Rockwell wise most of our m855 and our m855a1 and the m2 AP has a c' scale rating of over 55 so this is really soft we have a 16 inch common upstate Armory gf3 that I forgot the magazine for so we went and load these guys go for the next green spot below the m193 velocity 23:35 here was our shot right here I wanted to be over here but they may give us a little more room for something special over there we are two inches from our m193 shot so that is a fair hit and like I said this is really mild steel core most of the Russian stuff as you can see doesn't stand we did break that foam there it's a high-density foam but we stopped it got a little bit more back face there but impressive kind of like in this level 3 + plate when you think about it continental United States threats are gonna be m193 m855 your 7 62 by 39 in extreme cases 308 and now our 308 threat this is some kun saying m80 ball this is one of the faster MIT balls that i've ever chronograph so we want speed here because that's what brakes body armor we have a 22 inch TC compass have a phantom m2 suppressor on there so it's a little quieter for the kids velocity 2749 here is our m80 ball trying to label these but my pen decided to explode all over the place but we're far enough away from that last shot but that is a fair hitch hopefully I'm not boring you too much with these standard threats Hey no pass through we're getting quite the build-up of back face on that plate but that is not very much like I said this clay is more of a compressible media than actual representation of what the NIJ uses they keep their stuff at a very specific temperature and they calibrate it I wonder what else we can hit this thing with all right this is where we get out of the NIJ testing into the buffman range I want to break this plate this is m855a1 this is the enhanced performance round that the army now fields this has a hardened and larger steel tip on it we're gonna shoot this out of the SBR first to give the plate a more realistic shot of stopping this and if it does stop it we will step up to a longer barrel we should get around 2,500 feet per second with this guy 26:56 all right here is our m855a1 from our SBR place any comments below and as I mentioned this is outside of the realm of testing so if you see me penetrate a plate on my channel don't assume that the plate that we're testing in question is garbage I'm just creating worst-case scenarios for you or ideal scenarios for me to win against this plate little pass-through got a stoppage there so that means we're gonna go to the 16 inch barrel I want to make sure we have enough of this plate left because I got a special treat towards the N if we do if at first you don't succeed try a longer barrel we still have our m855a1 we've stepped up to a 16 inch barrel as my stag model 1 alan with a 109 twist barrel we're gonna go for the right side of the plate 3065 here's our a one shot we are a little close to the edge but like I said this is a full strike face all the way to the edge there are over three and a half inches from this shot plate smoking a little bit there we may take another shot because that was like I said a little close to the edge I think the middle shot distance is two inches from the edge and run trow Wragge there's a hole there buddy and there is our steel penetrator he's a little on the smush D side there's some of the jacket blood penetration interesting pretty much board a hole clean through that guy we'll take a shot maybe right dead center maybe that was just a little too close to the edge and that's why I went through will take a second shot with our and make 55 a1 get right in the center of the plate to make sure we weren't a little too close to the edge although like I said this is a full ceramic strike base plate so that edge shot shouldn't matter too much and again we've already shot this plate a few times so there's cracks propagating in the ceramic because it is a solid ceramic strike face lots of the 3058 place any bets in the comments below one of the one and only times i put a shot where I want it here's our a one right here right at the tip of that crest far enough away from the previous shot and the m80 there's a little bit of smoke come out of there it's using out a good sign what row so 3,000 feet per second is just too fast with m855a1 for this plate doesn't look like it even had a chance but that's why we're here for testing so that things outside of what the NIJ considers common my uncommon stuff is pretty common for me so we like to test it alright a special treat mata one and m62 a one it's tracer counterpart it's a solid copper core 130 grain tracer to match the 130 grain EPR now the mata one is just a scaled up version of the m855a1 130 grains like I said the steel tip on this guy though is only the low 50s on the C scale versus the high 50s on the a1 we're going to shoot portion of the plate that should be far away from all the cracks you don't know what's gonna happen the tracer will just be there just because well the plate blew off our stand down there sorry about that I hit one of the rubber straps and just for giggles we'll shoot the tracer on his plate just to see if we can catch it's catching on fire in the plate lookie slow-mo down there 2574 was the velocity on the mata 125 99 I don't see anything burning down well I think you can tell by the high-speed what this guy did sure was our tracer and there is a pass through our m-80a one is no joke that is basically a level four threat stop that and went clean through that clay the tracer though it stopped a little bit of bulge there but that's you know they just a faster I'll cop around pretty much if m80 ball can be stopped that should be stopped as well those EPR rounds though those are a significant threat against level three plus those plates held up pretty well to all these shots very very controlled back face very minimal if I might add for the standard rf1 and rf2 threats we have one more test that we're going to do against our level 3 plus plate from our ma I have 8 rounds of just regular m855 we're gonna throw those in the 22 inch and the plates already taken a bunch of hits we're going to find some spots on there and see if this will penetrate it all I'll call out the order of the 30:22 middle of the top 30 108 right top 32:51 right middle 3079 left lower 1/3 left or lower right left middle 30 93 I honestly don't think I've ever put 17 shots on a ceramic strike face I wrote down the numbers for the m855 so we can see what we did so here was shot number one number two number three number four number five Number six number seven number eight and it stopped every single one of those so in addition to all of the abuse that it took for the RF one and two standards and then everything I threw out at it outside of that it took another eight shots of m855 well everyone I hope you're as impressed with this plate as I am 17 shots and the only thing that made it through were our non-standard threats which were the m855a1 and the m-80a one we put nine rounds of m855 ball against this plate and it stopped every single one of them the back face on this plate with those rounds it's basically nothing compared to what we've seen say in a level four with m2 AP now this plate is a little thicker than even a level four plate probably because it has a lot more polyethylene as a backer so I know that some of the more low profile plate carriers have trouble fitting this plate as well because it is multi curved I tried this in my Templars gear plate carrier as well as the AR 500 Invictus and it both fit pretty fine it was the most snug in the Invictus and I'll throw some picture-in-picture and you can see that it was hanging out the bottom a little bit but there was still plenty of velcro for that to grab on to and hold it in the air if you're looking for a lightweight and ultra mobility the 1092 definitely checks the mark for a multi curved and lightweight like I said this is four pounds eight ounces so this is lighter than even our bow tack level four plate which was only single curve so if you want something that will be NIJ certified once those new ratings drop this 1092 plates probably gonna be a top choice for those looking for that level three plus rating and you're not gonna run into em too ap at 45 feet with an m1 grand at least I hope you wouldn't think the new RF 1 and 2 standards are really going to shake things up for armor ratings both of those still include the 308 rating which or some plates that are really thin and lightweight that can stop all these five five six threats are gonna have trouble meeting that 308 rating because they're gonna have a little thicker ceramic strike face but then they're gonna cut down on the amount of polyethylene that they use so that back face with those larger rounds even though it's stopping them it's gonna exceed back face or in certain cases actually fail and not meet the multi hit capability of those new standards I'd like to think RMA armament for sending us a ten ninety two to test my patreon supporters and you all for watching if you like my armor tests leave me a comment below I try to cut through all the [ __ ] when it comes to some of the marketing that you see for armor these days and give you as much information as possible so when you want to make a purchase decision you have that information handy until next time catch you at the range you
