I Couldn't Destroy This Body Armor...

[Music] what's up everybody my name is scott and you're watching kentucky ballistics we're back on the range and today we're going to try out some body armor so this is the safe life defense frost armor frost stands for flexible rifle armor system so a lot of you don't know this but i used to have to wear body armor to work every single day when i was in law enforcement you're issued soft armor and that armor is only rated for pistol rounds that's great but there's a lot of rifles out there so what i would do is i would take a ceramic plate and i would stick it up inside my soft armor as well in the front and the back uh it was really uncomfortable i couldn't move very well and i looked like a ninja turtle but i didn't really care because i felt a lot better knowing that i could stop rifle rounds at least if they were in this little square here right well i ended up taking those out of my soft armor putting them in another carrier and then when i would go somewhere where i knew there was possibly a rifle threat you know there was a really good chance then i just throw that on over what i was already wearing now that's cool but i would really like to just have it with me all the time right and not be so uncomfortable because like i said there's a lot of rifles out there so this is really cool for those reasons and i wish i would have had this when i was still working the road this is a flexible armor but it will stop rifle rounds and we're gonna test that out today it's rated up to two two three five five six seven point six two by 39 shotguns pistols i don't know i'm actually i'm pretty sure it's not rated for 308 and those calibers but we're still going to test it out today so this has got a bunch of little bitty ceramic plates all throughout it and allows it to like move around because there's so many little ones in there and you have more coverage it comes all the way out here from the sides all the way up here so it's a lot more coverage than just your one little plate right so really cool and most body armor is uncomfortable and it really doesn't matter what you wear it's going to be uncomfortable at some point but this is not the most uncomfortable body armor i've ever worn it's actually fairly comfortable and the fact that it's flexible and stops rifle rounds is just really cool so like i said we're gonna test this out not this one this one's mine and it's got you know kentucky ballistics on the back so not gonna shoot this one gonna hang on to this one but i have another one hooked up to our buddy old spanky over there our ballistic gel dummy we're going to test it for what it's rated for and then of course we're going to test it against a few things that it's not rated for so we're going to start out with what this armor is rated for which is rifles and it's ready for 7.6 7.62 by 39 and 556. so we're going to start out with this ak-47 and we're loaded up with some 7.62 by 39 full metal jackets and these are 123 grain all righty then let's go check it out okay so we hit right here and we hit right here look like we have any rounds inside spanky let's undo this all right so some of this material has pushed up against the ballistic gel and come off but both rounds stopped inside the armor and just got a little bit of a bulge there no big deal that's awesome it stopped the ak-47 now let's try out an ar i've got some pmc 556 55 grain full metal jackets let's see here we'll do one right there we'll do one right here all right let's check it out so we gotta hit here and it hit right here no holes in spanky all right well you can see that the 7.62 is hitting a lot harder than that 556 because it smushed this back material all over the ballistic gel but with the 556 we have a bulge but we did not have the transfer of material onto the ballistic till a lot more energy in that ak well spanky i don't know if you're going to stop this one or not might though it's not rated for 308 but we're going to try it anyways so i have my fn scar 17 topped off for the vortex viper pst and we're loaded up with some 308 150 grain full metal jackets just look at it that's a cool gun i'm gonna put it right in the middle let's see now remember this armor is already compromised it's taken two rounds a 7.62 and two rounds of five five six i hit with 308 right here in the middle wow okay all right now i'm impressed it's not even rated for 308 and it stopped it wow a lot bigger bulge than the 7.62 by 39 and we had some material transfer but yeah there is not a hole in spanky all right so now let's shoot it with a shotgun this is my remington 870 police magnum 12 gauge shotgun this is actually a retired state police shotgun that i've had cera coated so we're going to hit it with two different rounds first i have a three inch double hut buck and then i have this this is made by the ballistic machinist this is a solid brass pellet all right do you want to check that out first or go ahead and hit it with the slug ah we'll go ahead and hit it with the slug look at that that's pretty cool that's where the double hot buck hit and then here's where we hit the slug which i'm pretty sure we kind of hit in a spot that was already damaged nothing nothing at all it is all trapped in here golly look at that all right well let's hit him again a little bit try and hit right there since that's pretty fresh so let's stop the 308 which it's not rated for but now i want to try one more rifle round that it's not rated for this is a bolt action rifle this is a ruger american rifle and it's chambered in 30 odd 6 which is a very common deer hunting round a lot of people have these this is a big round this is a norma bond strike 180 grain and i'm really curious to see if it stops this i don't know it may have may not oh man wow wow whoa that is uh quite the bulge coming out the back of that thing but it stopped it i cannot believe that no hole in spanky still and 30.6 so i've got one more rifle i want to shoot it with and then we're going to move on to some pistols so this is my henry all weather lever action 4570 and we're going to be loaded up with some double tap 4570 300 grain jacket and soft points that thing kicks and that four end is really slick this thing stopped 308 30 out six i highly doubt that that made it through it is free damage though i hit right here and yeah that's a damaged spot nope nothing just a big bulge man this armor has stopped everything we have thrown at it i highly doubt a pistol round's gonna make it through it even with it being damaged but we're gonna try anyways so i'm gonna go ahead and go big or go home and start out with a 460 smith wesson magnum and a 500 smith wesson magnum maybe one more oh maybe one more should we keep going of course we should so i do not want to be that ballistic gel dummy right now oh i think we clipped him oh i hit high about twice i'm sorry spanky looks like the back part stopped it though okay oh my [Applause] that thing is all chewed up we don't have any holes in the ballistic gel dummy where there was actual armor where we clipped him though we did that armor is pretty much toast at this point but we're going to punish it a little bit more so now i have a magnum research desert eagle chambered in 50 ae and we're loaded up with some underwood ammo 300 grain jacketed hollow points maybe one more mag okay now let's check it out oh my goodness oh my goodness there's a round right there goodness gracious no new holes man that is crazy so the last thing i'm gonna shoot this body armor with is nine millimeter and that's just so we can say we did it so i have a glock 19 and we're going to be loaded up with some hornady critical defense so i highly doubt any of those made it through that armor nothing not a thing just still a lot of material transfer but we have held up against everything let's see here oh man oh so check that out that's awesome so here's the little panels like i was saying tiny little ceramic tiles and that's what is all throughout this vest and allows it to be flexible that is so cool there's a lot of damaged ceramic here shotgun wad look at all that man so so you've got that and then you've got more like soft armor behind that oh wow there is the brass slug what is that there's a nine mil where's thirty out six three out six should be back here somewhere here's a whoo pretty sure that's 500 magnum so 30 out six should be on this side there it is man not a whole lot left of it 308 should be somewhere over here too there's some more of the 30 out six dang look at that pretty sure that's 50 ae all kinds of rounds in here oh man look at that just a wad of nine mil all in that one spot nine mil nine mil nine mil fifty it's just all throughout this thing oh what is that that may be the 4570 that is pretty impressive so i already know what you're thinking there's one good panel left why don't you see how it holds up against full auto i agree with you and i think that's a great idea but we're not going to do that today if you want to see that make sure you tune in for this week's full auto friday i had a lot of fun testing this body armor today it did everything it said it would and then some stopped five five six and seven point six two like it's rated for but then after taking four rounds it still stopped a 308 which it's not rated for took a 30 out six in the side panel which was really impressive i mean it stopped everything the 45 70 12 gauge all our giant hand cannons 500 magnum 460. i mean we shot it point blank with a desert eagle i don't know how many times and it just kept going pretty legit stuff and i have to say i really do wish i would have had some of this when i was on the road if you enjoyed today's video do me a favor
