welcome to r slash am i the butthole where op accidentally drugs her teenage babysitter am i the butthole for not sharing my medical history before being pranked hey i'm schizophrenic it started when i was 22 and it'll last until i die i'm active in schizophrenic communities i go to groups the works but i'm fairly private about it to most people including friends it's fairly common for people to think that i'm eccentric due to some of my habits but it comes with the turf those habits include not going to parties or other places with lots of people suddenly deciding not to do something i have to be really cautious not to do or go to certain things if i think a delusion might be coming on saying the occasional odd quip normal schizophrenic stuff some friends thought it would be funny to make it seem like i might be going crazy as a group they would individually wear something silly like a wizard hat or a dinosaur costume to a group event or say something totally out of the ordinary and pretend like it's normal for example they would say police like to track people like you covet is just a way to microchip you etc these are very real scary thoughts to me i would ask members of the group if they had concerns about these conspiracies or the weird clothing from the other members but they all acted like it was totally normal i was really really scared that this could have been a massive delusion morphing into a full psychosis so i preemptively checked myself into a hospital to stop myself from potentially hurting myself or diving further into the rabbit hole i was so scared my medication stopped working no one had heard from me for a few days while i was in the hospital and when i checked out i confided in one of them about what had happened i got a really long apology explaining what had happened and i blew up at them i've ignored attempts from the others trying to apologize and have no desire to talk with them again op that wasn't a prank that was more like bullying you get 0 out of 5 buttholes and your friends get 3.5 out of 5 buttholes am i the butthole for firing my babysitter for getting drunk on the job i'm a 37 year old woman and i have a 16 year old girl babysitter who's been babysitting for me for about two months she's a very sweet and quiet girl and is good with the kids my four-year-old daughter and eight-year-old son we've only had small problems here and there but nothing major at all when she first started babysitting for me i'd asked her if there were any drinks or snacks that she'd like me to keep at the house as she's here from nine to seven every day monday through saturday she mentioned that she really likes seltzer water and i bought them for the first month but honestly i forgot after a while and never kept any in the fridge a few days ago i bought hard seltzer water for me and my husband and i didn't think anything of it a little bit after 2 pm she messaged me saying that she wasn't feeling well and thought that she may have to go home and she wanted to know if it was possible if i could get off from work earlier i asked her to try to hold out until the end of the day not too long after she called me crying saying that something was wrong and she had to go home she was drunk clearly she drank the heart seltzers i told her to leave and she walked home she messaged me the next day and said that she now knew the hard seltzers were alcohol and she hadn't known she never drank before as both of her parents were alcoholics and she has diagnosed ptsd regarding alcohol she never planned on drinking in general i told her not to come back as she put my children in danger she called me crying and saying that she didn't know and that she cared deeply about my children and would never ever drink with them or at all and that she needs the money to pay for her driver's permit she comes from a not so well-off family i told her to find a real job and then it wasn't my fault she got drunk my husband says i'm being very rude and that she did try to reach out when she wasn't feeling well my kids are upset to see her go so reddit am i the butthole yes op you are the butthole you get 5 out of 5 buttholes maybe even like 5.5 out of 5 buttholes because what the hell intentionally or unintentionally you literally drugged a miner a miner who let's remember has ptsd surrounding alcohol a minor who basically did everything right in the situation she called to tell you that something was wrong and when she realized that she couldn't care for the kids anymore she said she had to leave that kid practically deserves a medal for how well she handled that situation i mean how is she supposed to know that you bought hard seltzer personally i've never even heard of hard seltzer water so i might have fallen for it as well you certainly can't expect a 16 year old girl who's never had a drink before to realize that this drink is alcoholic especially when she had every reason to assume that you got that drink just for her and worst of all you got upset at your babysitter for putting your kids in danger no you put the babysitter in danger like are you just gonna breeze past that point so yeah op i know that i'm kind of laying it on thick here but for real you get five out of five buttholes and then opie posted an update edit okay guys i'm the butthole i see it now thank you i'll hire her again edit two i'll pay her fifteen hundred dollars a week from now on and pay for her permit and test as well as her license test op while that's a sweet sentiment i don't believe you am i the butthole for barring my husband from the bedroom tonight so here's the situation i'm a nurse working 50 hours a week into pediatric intensive care units i cry at least once a week because that stuff is hard my salary pays our bills all of them my husband is 25 years old he has a degree but isn't looking for a job he works two days a week at the grocery store and spends most of his time playing league of legends by the way all events here are in accordance with coveted legislation today was supposed to be a good day i'd been begging my husband to swap this saturday shift to literally anything else that we could have days off together we haven't had a weekend together since our wedding 18 months ago today was supposed to be our first saturday off together we were going to go to an animal sanctuary he starts the day by going to breakfast with his best friend leaving before i even wake up i wake up at around 9 and realize he isn't at home so i call he says he's helping his friend set up lights and that the weather is too rainy for the animal sanctuary anyway he gets home at around 1 lies around plays some video games and promises that we would cook dinner together tonight he leaves again at five to help the same friend with something else i go grocery shopping i don't drive because of medical issues but i walk there and back in the rain i get home and realize i left my keys inside i call my husband knowing he's five minutes away and he says he'll leave in a minute i sit in the rain and the cold we live in the southern hemisphere 45 minutes later i call again he hasn't left yet he finally agrees to come and let me in the house so he drives up presses the clicker to let me in the garage and leaves again at 10 i called to see where he is his friend answers and he says that he's driving out to do something an hour away it's 10 30 and i'm going to bed i sent him a text and i'm upset and i don't want to speak to him tonight and would rather he left me alone as far as i'm concerned if he can't value me more than his best friend on the first day off that he and i have shared in a year and a half he can go sleep in his bed instead by the way his friend doesn't work so they hang out all the time when i'm at work he's gonna be upset and he's gonna tell his friend and his friend is gonna tell him that i'm being a b word am i the butthole adding some info i'm 26 years old and we weren't always like this i don't know what changed i'm fairly confident he's not having an affair and i fully intent on talking this through but at a time that isn't 4 am op i'm giving you 0 out of 5 buttholes and i'm giving your husband 4 out of 5 buttholes he sounds like an overgrown man child you say you don't know what happened but i have a pretty good idea you're carrying all the adult responsibilities on your shoulders leaving him to do basically whatever he wants whenever he wants with whoever he wants and he's become incredibly spoiled because all he has to do all day is play video games and hang out with his friend so when you come home for a weekend he doesn't want to give up that indulgent part of his lifestyle where he can just do whatever he wants either this guy needs a reality check or you need to get out of this marriage am i the butthole for refusing to rsvp to my sister's wedding because i'm required to write an application essay just to attend yeah i know this sounds insane but i'm living in it so my sister's getting married next february and it's a destination wedding no less i have doubts whether this wedding is actually going to happen with the pandemic and everything but she's totally set on moving forward anyway because of the pandemic her original venue has made her cut down on guests because they're cutting capacity by half as a result she's sending out re invites that asked everyone to rsvp again but in order to figure out who to invite and who to cut she's asking all confirmed guests to submit two 250 word essays to two questions the gist of it is that they'll use these essays to choose who can come or not based on people's enthusiasm people who don't write the essays at all will be automatically disqualified i just feel really insulted by all of this the questions aren't even pandemic related it's broad topics like why do you still want to celebrate this date with us and what will attending our wedding mean to you specifically so she's blatantly looking for people to kiss her butt and tell her why they really want to go anyways i told her in advance that i am not writing 500 words on why i need to attend her wedding spend my own money on plane tickets in hotels and buy her a present this has really rubbed her and my parents the wrong way she said that to keep things fair if i don't fill out the rsvp correctly i won't be saved a spot i said fine with me then my parents said that if i don't show up i'm gonna be in big effing trouble with all our relatives so just write the essays am i the butthole if i stay stubborn on this i'm already annoyed at the thought of spending thousands of dollars and coming home to quarantine but i will not belt out 500 words and how this is totally my choice am i the butthole so i think i would give this an everyone sucks here rating i have a super close relationship with my brother and i would do anything to go to his wedding and if he made me write an application to attend his wedding then i would do it begrudgingly but i wouldn't be happy about it i agree that it's insulting but it would be a small price to pay to attend his wedding but on the other hand having your guests perform like monkeys so you can decide who does and doesn't get to go is completely unreasonable so i'll give both you and your sister 2 out of 5 buttholes am i the butthole for kicking my cousin off of my sister's wedding zoom call my older sister who's 30 and her fiance were planning for over a year for their wedding to be this month obviously they can't have the wedding as planned but they would still like to get married so they decided on a zoom wedding where all my family and friends would just call in to watch the officiant my sister and her fiance my sister didn't want to be in charge of hosting the zoom call because she thought it would stress her out so she asked me to do it and i gladly accepted she and her fiance decided to invite everyone they originally wanted to and it was a very big list when we were going over the list my sister mentioned to me that she wanted everyone else to be muted for the majority of the wedding as she was worried that others would talk over her and her fiance and overshadow them on their big day a date which was already scaled down however her and her fiance said that i should unmute everyone at one point so everyone could talk and have a nice time with each other fast forward to the day of the wedding everyone is muted during the ceremony which is going great and so i then unmute everyone to ask to please raise a hand if they'd like to talk so it doesn't get confusing my cousin who's 27 starts waving his hand crazily and he's with his longtime girlfriend he's a very gregarious guy so i wasn't surprised then he says stuff like those two are such an inspiration it's given me the courage to do this then he turns to his girlfriend and pulls out a box that's the size of an engagement ring box i immediately saw this as him trying to steal a spotlight something that he's done since we were kids for example he would secretly mess up mine in my sister's drawings if the adult would praise ours and so i booted him off the call then i quickly announced that my cousin had technical difficulties and would not be joining again everyone else accepted this and went about talking and my sister and her husband did too the rest of the wedding went smoothly except for the fact that my cousin kept texting me angrily saying that he finally wanted to propose as a surprise with family all around and i ruined it my aunt and uncle texted me the same am i the butthole nah op i'd give you 0 out of 5 buttholes what your cousin did was a major faux pas at a wedding it's extremely rude to propose or announce a baby because it steals the spotlight off of the happy couple which is just not appropriate honestly i want to applaud you for your fast thinking am i the butthole for kicking my friend out because of breastfeeding i had some friends over one guy with his wife and three other women one of the women we'll call jane had a baby two months ago and this is the first time that we've seen her she was away at families when she had her baby so this was a small unplanned baby shower for after an hour so her baby got fussy and she started to breastfeed her baby one of the other female friends started looking upset and asked don't you think you should cover up especially since there's a man here we all just kind of looked at her my male friend said it's okay his wife breastfeeds and his wife nods her head well this upset the woman and she looked at me and said to get a blanket so i got her one and she said no it's to cover up with so i did as she asked and opened up the blanket and all the while the other people were giving me a strange look and i covered the woman's head and sat back down of course she got mad and took it off and said that's not what it's for and that jane needs to cover i said why the rude woman got up and tried to put the blanket on jane and i finally had enough and said if she didn't like someone breastfeeding then she can either look away or leave yeah she got mad saying how i'm choosing jane over her and that she's known me longer i told her that you should have known by now that i don't believe in covering up regardless of where you are and that it's my house i also told her that she knows what a pain it is to try to cover up a breast in a screaming wiggling baby's mouth so have a nice day so yeah she's mad at me but the rest of us had a good time visiting no op this is cut and dry you get zero out of five buttholes i mean why does anyone need to be reminded of this it's your house it's your rules if she doesn't like it she can leave
