[Music] uh i did a cleaning on it and it passed it cost 450 450 bucks to have them cook it out you got all your work done on that merger you're getting ready to back this off and therefore the bad news is we've got a little more blow-by than what i think is normal so this is just going to have me crank this over it's not going to start all right well i might look a little different here today i'm coming at you on a different camera and everything i'm gonna tell you in this section of the video i already videoed yesterday but it's on my other camera that i lost yesterday that's the first time i've lost a camera so we're load notes over at the cleverley farm and i had my gopro stick uh up on top of the uh grain buggy when i offloaded i think it was the second grain buggy load and when i went to load up the third one i noticed the gopro was gone i looked in the grain buggy didn't see it in there i figured it fell off in the driveway somewhere and i never did find it so i've got a bunch of lost footage from yesterday so we ended up getting most of the parts for 95.60 we're gonna get working on that here in a minute but what i'm gonna do here now is i'm gonna finish up a job that i started yesterday before i went to load the gentleman up with oats here and we'll talk about that again here in a second um this is a power shaft here for our supreme mixer wagon we have a spare shaft actually we had two spare shafts we had one off of the 900 mixer that burned um that of course burned off the plastic and we just saved it we didn't know how good the cv joint of it was going to be and the uh driven end but we saved it that's a good thing we did because we had to use it here a couple weeks ago now the other spare shaft that we had the cv joint went out on it i should have replaced it didn't figured we had um that burnt mixer wagon spare so our other spare we got head used up had to use the burn one i ended up getting this one fixed we the problem that we had was we broke this yoke right here took this down to uh fleet pride they put a new end on it and this the rest of it here is original however the plastic that was on this shaft i had to um use on the mixer wagon shaft and i i ordered some new pieces here that we're going to put on here in a minute that was just these two pieces here was 350 i have a new shaft on the floor here that i ordered as well and this cv drive line was right around 2100. took it out of the box and this plastic shroud on the end of it was broke off so it will make it easier to uh grease that end but that section of the shield is 170 some dollars so i'd at least like to get a credit for it or get another piece and maybe they'll let me save that one [Music] alright [Music] we got that bulb out it took me three attempts to get a nut welded on there to get that pulled out but that's probably been broke for a while it looks and it appears to uh be that this egr cooler has been changed before now a lot of you are wondering why we don't don't just delete this now there is things going on with the epa and they're cracking down on this kind of thing and um this can be deleted it can be done however if this stuff is working the way it's supposed to it it's not bad to have on there it costs a lot of money to keep this stuff going but um you just you don't want to get in trouble with not having this stuff on there and being that we've got that receiver on there and we're transferring data eventually big brother is probably going to be able to detect these kinds of things now we can unhook that and choose not to run the receiver on the tractor but um it is what it is so uh it's a little bit of a gray area but you can have some problems with deleting some of this stuff too now technically the machinery dealer is not supposed to work on this stuff um with it like that now in the event that we were trade this tractor in down the road which we won't be getting rid of this tractor ever probably um you would have to have all that stuff on there and it might turn into a situation down the road here where even if it goes in for a transmission job or something the government the epa might make it a requirement for the dealerships to hey we want anything that's coming into your shop whether you're working on you know if you're not working on the engine we want you to plug into it and we want to know what is going on with the emissions stuff um as of right now they're not pushing that issue but down the road they could i know of some places that do this stuff they delete this stuff all day long um but eventually it's gonna catch up to it it's gonna catch up to everybody here i'm afraid i'm afraid to uh say that but um it is what it is so let's go ahead and start bolting this back together and then maybe we can roll this out the door here shortly all right got the egr cooler all in place i've got it completely hooked up ended up throwing some cheap paint on it we're going to let that kind of tack up a little bit before we put the three uh mounts down onto that and while that paint is setting up here we'll run over on the other side of our mess of a shop we'll show you what we're working on here now tim just got back here a little while ago he got how many teeth wow would have been yeah somewhere around 11 or 1200 teeth for the oxbow mergers i didn't get a receipt with that but there's probably they're probably five six bucks a piece so we're talking five six grand anyways for that stuff and uh skid steer um had to put a radiator curve's working on it right now he's putting a new radiator in it and if you recall in the last couple of videos the skid steer that's been screaming outside the shop here doing a regen it's been this one here so um we've had to do that a couple of different times i don't know if the radiator is related to that when he's done an oil change on it too and um jared's slowly working along on this 40 20. it's 40 20 here he's got the um throttle linkage all hooked up here and forever we never had this black knob on here for the override throttle and to shut it off on the older 4020s you would pull this knob out to shut the tractor off and you pull the knob out to go past pto speed but wide open or all the way down without pulling the knob out as pto speed pull the knob out and it'll do maximum rpm so he's getting some new bolts in the draw bar carrier here now and on this drawbar carrier this was has been slightly modified it had to be close to 30 years ago when we had this on the spreader um this part of the drawbar carrier here broke out and um we had to have it oh well so the sway box not gonna fit all that great on that one side but um he's gonna get her to work here and believe it or not all there is to hold that drawbar carrier is a 5 8 plow bolt and this shoulder bolt here um with this torx head on it and that's just to keep the sway block from moving around then you run a bolt in this way into a square not to keep the sway block he's going to uh modify things a little bit here so that we can have two 5 8 bolts along with a half inch one to hold it into place all right we're just going to very carefully put this hardware in place these straps clamps whatever you want to call it and uh then we'll have to throw another coat of paint on here [Music] once we're done to kind of cover this stuff up now the past couple of videos um i was ranting and raving a little bit now i do not delete any comments and 99.9 percent of my comments are all uh positive no reason why i brought anything up in the last two videos just to share with you guys the uh the humor i got out of a couple of the comments here that were in the last i don't know three four videos so in no way um does it bother me in any way shape or form uh what you guys see in the videos is up to your own interpretation i don't expect to sugarcoat anything here i'm not trying to present like a false sense of what's going on here and what i'm showing you is what i'm showing you so with that being said we're just going to kind of bolt all this back together here and um tim has gone to um cnw diesel to pick up this the diesel particulate filter and uh that is okay it's um they ended up clean cleaning it or baking it or something like that and um it's gonna work we don't have to do anything with it we don't have to replace it or anything else so being if the egr is all hooked up we just got to get these clamps on there and then um i've got some minuscule lines to hook up we'll get some fluid in this get our filter into place and then we'll um get this going it looks like i'm gonna have a little trouble with this bolt on this back side here but we'll fiddle with that and try to get that done and then we'll uh join back up with you in a little while here all right we have some good news tim just came back with the uh dpf diesel particulate filter they did a cleaning on it and it passed it cost 450. 450 bucks to have them cook it out that's what the one side looks like and then that's what the other side looks like so he's gonna throw that in there and then we're gonna wrap this up here in a little while all right we're just about ready to start this i've got a little more coolant to put into it and he's got some bolts to tighten up on the exhaust pipe slash dpf we'll check on these guys here jared is sanding this 40 20 down ever so gently here and i got a couple of guys working on this merger over here we got a team of two on this end and a team of andrew on the other are you going faster than them guys where's your team member huh how you making out must be nice to have an impact use i didn't get to use an impact when i was your age what's that well they're putting teeth on this and uh we've got a cam follower track to replace here and one there and another one down there all right we have some air going in that back tire sun's just jumping in now i'm just gonna start it and come forward here so we can release them chains sounds good a little bit of cola going through the exhaust pipe right there hopefully that is residual stuff left over i can just see it where the two pieces of the manifold come together so he's gonna come forward a little bit i probably shouldn't be on this ladder but i can jump pretty good all right that's good slide it run we gotta keep an eye on that hopefully it's residual stuff you gotta take the top right off you can't tell by looking at it i can see it's above minimum goal pull the top off look right down in there we got a lot of coolant coming out of this where this manifold comes together here so hopefully it's just residual stuff left over right that probably hopefully because the coolant hasn't dropped that far and it should drop about as far as it did can't quite catch it with my finger but it is in there right all right let's make the seam yeah that's what i can see from here why don't we pour some more in there and then we'll start it back up again and we'll just kind of watch things here a little bit this santa fe is doing this white pail yes funnels up on that warning light post all right so what we're going to do here now he's going to pour some coolant in and um we're going to get these chains off of there and then we're just gonna let it run for a while we've got some stuff in the way outside and we just gotta we wanna let this run and then we also wanna watch it and hopefully it works that cool it through the exhaust manifold and hopefully it's not coming from the head so um we'll be back at you in a minute here [Music] well we've got the chains undone i'm airing up the tires on the back this has run for a good long little while here the exhaust manifold cleared right out that's all nice and clean now so the residual colon that was in there that's what it was pushing out of the system here so we've got no leaks to speak of here yet so we're just kind of glancing over everything here and we want to make sure that we've got nothing pissing out [Music] oh tipsy there i had to had to recover from that one pretty quick but we managed to stay on two wheels [Music] you got all your work done on that merger you're getting ready to back this off in there for us you ain't gonna back it off can't be a chicken why don't you run out and move that 8320 unplug the block heater move it out of the way and then we'll run up and get the c5 [Music] yeah move that 8320 all right we're getting ready to back it off the trailer here we got the hood hinged down in the back um we have some good news and we have some bad news the good news is it's all put together and we're getting ready to pull it off the trailer the bad news is we've got a little more blow-by than what i think is normal so we're gonna get it out and about running around the door yard the coolant has not dropped at all from where we last filled it we're going to run it around some jake is on his way and what he's going to do is he's going to hook up to the ecm at it and he's going to see if there's any one cylinder that is not doing what it's supposed to because we're worried now that it might possibly have a head gasket issue however it um might just have some residual stuff left over in the top of the crankcase and and all that stuff so we're hoping that it's just a bunch of residual stuff left over and that we just need to work it get it warm and let it work its way through this but we want to be precautionary at this point because if it needs a head gasket it's gonna need a head gasket there's no two ways about it so we're gonna get it off the trailer here in a second and then we're going to uh get the trailer out of here and then we're gonna get it inside back inside and jake will be here [Music] momentarily so so so all right we've got jake here and he's got his computer hooked up into the ecm correct ecu ecu and what he's doing is a cylinder misfire test and we'll see if you can see that on the computer and he's got a procedure that he's going to go through idle up down five times and then it's gonna give us a cylinder reading on all six cylinders all right you ready yeah okay let's go down see they're all reading pretty good if you see one that's a lot lower than 100 100 is going to be your best cylinder so 99 that's they're all firing good so now let's shut it off and do that compression test so this is just gonna have me crank this over it's not gonna start okay this is the same deal it's not going to tell you exact compression it's just going to tell you if you have a low cylinder compared to the best cylinder and they're all pretty good got about the same parameters yeah that's the last test that's really good numbers right here yeah i think everybody's it we got 99 on one 100 99 100 100 and 100. so we've got cylinder three and one is 99 the other four are at 100 on the scale here it now if you're if you're more than like 10 or 15 between the highest and lowest then you probably have an issue but this this looks pretty good so so right now we just got to kind of run it we've got a little issue with the blow-by but if it's it probably got a lot of residual crap in there i think so and it's not overheating it's it's running all right i i would dare say run it for a while and okay that's the best thing i've heard all day i'm not promising anything but that's a reassuring this is reassuring yes hmm what else you want to do to it you want to clean your egr valve yeah might as well all we did was just blow air through it that was that head coolant way up into it and it shook itself like a dog coming out of water it probably needed it well yeah i let me start her back up have you any way of telling what the tractor is sensing as far as what the dpf is at right now yeah i can look that up here the soot level not needed so and it's it's been running that's up to operating temperature so it's everything's go good there right now and you don't have any codes for that either so well this is some good information we're just gonna run it around the field now and maybe up and down the road and [Music] it's within normal range of engine temperature and i think we're gonna be all right here we're just gonna have to keep an eye on it [Music] hopefully if it's got any problems it rears its ugly head here in the next couple days so we can get it taken care of before it's got to start turning some dirt yeah um i'm gonna pop the hood again yeah yeah little wet there i don't know that we turned it over and it blew oil out this oil line because we had these oil lines off oh okay so that's that's why the water pump is all wet with oil all right so what do you think of my paint job huh that's a rattle can special so but yeah you didn't paint the turbo or the exhaust manifold no i i should have to get that new new tractor smell you know that burnt pink smell yeah so oh looks nice yeah well jake's gonna go through and he's gonna check things out here and then before he leaves he's going to give me a grade on this on how good we did i think he did pretty damn good it's all just swapping parts nuts and bolts that's all it is a lot of climbing though oh you know what i joked around and i said anybody that does this job should do it on a trailer but with it on the trailer the tires were like right here and it gave you just that much it gave it a good good step and the way they've got this design here you don't have to step that far it's bang bang and you're up on there and uh it ain't that bad all right jake just left here a little while ago now we're just gonna we're gonna run it up and down the road some try to put a little bit of a little bit more of a load on it and see how it responds to that so so all right i think this is a pretty good test on it i was gonna run it around in the snow some down in the field but i don't want it to melt all over the floor so just running it up the road a half a mile and back again should put enough of a load on it to get it up to pretty good temperature i mean you can see it's not only shown not quite halfway and it's in the more or less in the normal mode it's not by any means putting a load on it but it's as much of a load as we can put on it so well we'll put her inside for the night and check everything over tomorrow i guess we are just draining the last little bit of the oil out of it we were worried that maybe some of the coolant might have slipped into the engine oil now i did just change this oil on this tractor probably 30 40 hours ago so the soil isn't that old however we burn waste oil for heat over in that other building over there and we have gone through just over a thousand gallons this year already so it's not like we won't be putting this uh to good use so we've got no leaks to speak up so that's good usually you get an o-ring or something that weeps a little bit on you and you got to do a little bit of adjusting and whatever but um there's nothing nothing leaking here so that's good all of our exhaust gaskets they're not blowing any black smoke or anything however we do have some paint missing from the very front side right there of the egr cooler now we ended up replacing this front panel here because the old one was cracked uh right here so i figured out let's just put a a new panel on there that metal grate the the little oh there's a grill back here this was vibrating against this line here and i figured you know what might better just get a panel on there and um that'll take care of that bracket moving around or whatever so the parts that we put in on this side of the engine cost right around 2 400 bucks the panel the egr cooler some miscellaneous gaskets and whatnot that was all that totaled 2 400 bucks now we had to put a starter on this from starting it when we initially had the problem uh coolant was getting into the intake and it was coming in and getting on top of the pistons and it was causing the engine to start hard and we ended up burning up the starter the starter was around 600 bucks so the the parts from john deere was right around three thousand dollars and then for a precautionary measures we ended up taking the diesel particulate filter out which is in the muffler and we took that to a diesel shop and um they evaluated it and then they baked it to clean it in case there was any residue left over from the coolant working its way through the exhaust and trying to go out the pipe so that cost 470 bucks so we're right around 3 500 for the parts and the cleaning then we've we've got like 12 gallons of coolant that we put into it and then um we'll have to obviously put new oil in it and a filter so we're probably in the neighborhood of oh 36 3 700 for this repair bill here so um we initially had some issues or some concerns about the amount of blow-by we were getting but there was just so much residual coolant and whatever in places that it shouldn't have been and that had to work out of the system so we're getting a little more blow-by than what we normally see from it so we've got to clean this up some and get it ready to uh do tillage work here in just a short few weeks it's that february's gone just about before you know it march will be gone and then we'll be into uh go time here so that's well alrighty we have the oil back in the tractor obviously once i got done putting the oil in there i ended up going around it with a blow gun i blew all the dirt and the dust and all that crap off of there and to be honest with you i think there was some dirt from illinois up underneath that tractor so once i got that done i said you know what why don't i just rinse the salt off the windows you know the windows were dirty from bringing the tractor home uh that day on the trailer i said you know what i'm just gonna it only take me a minute i'll just rinse it off in the shop what's the worry well i went a little overboard and i ended up washing the whole damn tractor now we got a mess here on the floor now you're probably wondering geez you got two inches of gunk and on the floor how you gonna clean that up well don't you worry we're actually gonna vacuum the floor in the shop here believe it or not now there isn't anybody on youtube that actually vacuums the floor of their shop well maybe maybe there's a couple guys i'm not sure but um you're gonna see me vacuum this floor now another thing um that you're probably not gonna believe i i hate to admit it but i love pressure washing that is the one job that you can start and finish and actually see progress jared's been working on this 40 20 today and i just happened to think for a second here we have our smallest tractor in the shop which is like they're like 90 horse or something like that and then we've got our largest tractor in the shop which is well it's supposed to be 560. um back when my father and grandfather were farming together my father wasn't he wasn't even as old as jared was this tractor here on the farm when this tractor was new was the biggest tractor and now this one is the biggest tractor back in the day with the amount of cows that my father and grandfather were milking um in relative terms to what we're milking today this tractor is undersized by like a lot let's back this outside and uh we'll do a couple minute video of vacuuming the floor we got a lot of water we got a lot of dirt we got a lot of grease and so on so um i don't think there's anybody on youtube that has actually videoed themselves vacuuming their floor so let's go ahead and get this pig outside and we'll clean up the swarm of the vacuum unit so well alrighty we got that all vacuumed up and as you can see it's it's pretty good and clean it might not be as good as one of them floor scrubbers but um it does a pretty good job sucks everything up and oh we kind of uh helped things out here with washing the tractor off and adding a little bit more water to the floor so that is gonna do it for this video folks do not tell my wife that i know how to run a vacuum that's the last thing she needs to know it's snowing a little bit out here tonight now and um i better get that 95 60 back inside because i washed it and i backed it out and it's probably all froze here now so let's get her inside and maybe we'll run it around tomorrow to kind of exercise it a little bit and make sure that we don't have any problems that are brewing on us uh here down the road so that is gonna do it folks thanks for watching and we will catch you at the next video you
