[Music] greetings everyone hope all of you are having an absolutely fantastic day we're back again with more pathfinder wrath of the righteous this time moving on with the party members let's get into selah sila is a paladin one of in my opinion best classes in the game it is it's hard to get a paladin wrong i'm i'm gonna tell you that right now this is just fantastic stuff all the way down the line let's see what she starts with um first of all you get her at level two so you've got a huge amount of flexibility as far as what kind of character sela becomes a lot of different ways we can go with her build i'm going to do two builds with her this is going to be sword and board and then i'll also do a two-handed warrior build for you as well she starts out with dodge and shield focus beyond it's not all that hot about shield focus but it's not the worst thing in the world dodge is absolutely great to improve a melee character's survivability uh obviously she's loyal to i am a day and she has pickpocket as her background which means she gets a plus two bonus on initiative roles great stuff it means she can shoot out the gates as long as you give her something that makes her armor a little bit lighter or makes her faster even though she has heavy armor she can shoot out the gates run towards the enemy take that heat on as soon as possible she also has paladin proficiencies which gives you a bunch of different things to take advantage of um she does have an alignment restriction so she must be lawful good but that doesn't matter for sela you have no way to change your alignment as far as i know at least um and then she gets smite evil as a swift action the paladin chooses one target within sight to smite if this target is evil the paladin adds her charisma bonus if any tor attack rolls and adds her palleted level to all damage rolls made against the target of her smite and smite evil attacks automatically bypass any damage resistance the creature might possess obviously you are going to be facing a ton of evil enemies in this game so this is absolutely fantastic then you also get lay on hands a paladin can heal wounds either hers or other people by touch each day she can use this ability a number of times equal to half her paladin level plus her charisma modifier the paladin can heal 1d6 hit points of damage for every two paladin levels she possesses this is a standard action unless the paladin is targeting herself in which case it is a swift action alternatively you can use this against undead creatures in order to do damage towards them instead of healing them great stuff and then she's also going to get um mercies which basically add an effect on to her lay on hands so it'll allow you to alleviate confused cursed days disease things of that nature when you use lay on hands on a party member and you'll get more and more of these as she levels up she also gets divine grace a paladin gains a bonus equal to a charisma bonus on all saving throws divine health allows the paladin to be immune to all diseases including supernatural and magical diseases including mummy rot so basically paladins you could take them throwing right in the middle of a whole bunch of undead and all those nasty afflictions they usually put on people completely irrelevant then she also gets aura of courage at third level a paladin is immune to fear and each ally within 10 feet of her gains a plus four morale bonus on saving throws against fear so if you have sela in your party how you deal with fear changes completely there are some major enemies in act 3 that have my party all running around when i played the game for the second time because i didn't realize how much sealer was doing for me and how much she was covering for the buffs i was not using great great stuff um she does have the ability starting at level four to channel positive energy just like so sayo and um darren i forgot to mention you will get more uses of smite evil as you gain levels at level eight you are paladin is immune to charm spells and spell-like abilities and gives a plus four more round bonus on saving throws against those abilities to all of the party and then she also gets mark of justice so she can expend two uses of smite evil in order to grant the smite evil ability to all allies for one minute using her bonuses great great stuff allows all of your party to be able to focus fire on a particular evil enemy at level 14 a paladin's weapon are treated as good a line for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction any attack made against an enemy within 10 feet of her is treated as good aligned for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction um this is cool this is cool stuff and then orr of righteousness appalling gains damage resistance and immunity to compulsion spells and spell-like abilities and all allies gain a plus formal round on its own saving throws against compulsion effects so over and over and over again she gains immunity to really really nasty stuff while at the same time buffing the entire party to be able to stand against those types of effects just craziness absolute craziness and then at level 20 she becomes a holy champion where she gets a significant increase to damage resistance and whenever she channels positive energy or uses lay on hands to heal the creature she heals the maximum possible amount all of that together makes paladin absolutely amazing so let's go ahead dive right in and see how we can use this to great effect for urcila her skills nothing really to write home about we want to go ahead and get mobility up to rank 3 because at rank 3 when you are fighting defensively it lowers the attack penalty for using that so we want to get this to rank three after that we definitely want to focus on perception she has knowledge world but she's not going to be doing anything to level up intelligence so honestly you want another character like nanio or um uh walter someone of that sort to be the person leveling this up i don't recommend it for her so i take this point off she has persuasion as well um you can make your own decision about whether or not that's useful for your particular party but i definitely recommend going ahead and putting a point of perception she's going to be your tank more than likely which means she's going to be right up front which means she's going to be the first person who's able to see traps so definitely with any fighters that are up front you want them to be able to uncover those traps asap so your team is not running over them for your level three feet usually i would go with weapon focus here that plus one bonus on attack rolls is very very useful at level three at level three but honestly this is a build that is very very feat starved so we need every feed to be serving a specific purpose and long term weapon focus just doesn't do that much for you so instead i scroll down and i pick a power attack that negative one penalty to melee attack roles is kind of harsh this early in the game but i do believe with how much strength sealer has and as long as you're using buffs on her like bowl strength and enlarged person she should be able to overcome this now when it comes to mercies i don't like the idea of sela running back and forth trying to take off bad statuses from people in the middle of a fight so i focus on statuses that i would want to take off of my party members after a fight has already concluded and so because of that here i take fatigue at level four increase strength and continue to increase strength during your level ups and at level four for the skills you should have already got mobility up to three and then i personally was focusing on persuasion and perception but sila gets three skill points per level up so i would personally recommend you put that third skill point in lower nature that's going to delay fatigue while traveling on the world map it's not the hugest deal in the world but since you have an extra skill point might as well throw it in there and for your level five feet you should pick up outflake i believe that you should get offline for all of your melee characters and your archers is going to increase the flanking bonus from plus two to plus four on attack rolls and anytime you score a critical hit any other ally with this um with this feat who's also flanking the creature will get a free attack of opportunity at level five you can also choose between an animal companion and a divine weapon bond to me there's no contest here you absolutely want the pad unfortunately they changed it from the beta it used to be that you got a smellidon automatically but instead now you get a horse or a black horse they're the same mechanically so choosing between them is just for aesthetic purposes i would say the horse is probably a little more tanky than the smell of dawn but doesn't do as much damage for your level six mercy i would take diseased and then for your level seven feet i would scroll down and take two weapon fighting if you're using shield bash then your shield is considered to be a second weapon and you need two weapon fighting in order to deal with the huge penalties that you take for doing that also keep in mind in order to take two weapon fighting you need at least a 15 on dexterity sila has a 13 on dexterity so you need to have a belt of at least plus two dexterity before you go to level up at level seven so that you can select two weapon fighting but once you have selected this feat you do not have to keep on the belt taking guilt going below the dexterity requirement for the fee does not cause you to lose the feet at level 9 take shield bash this is going to allow you to attack with light and heavy shields so keep that in mind you cannot take the tower shield proficiency and then figure you're going to be able to use this as part of the build the light shield does 1d4 damage consider a light weapon a heavy shield deals 1d6 damage and is considered a one-handed weapon and then for your mercy i get exhausted at level 9. and for your level 11 feet i get shield master you do not suffer any penalties on attack rolls made with a shield while you are wielding another weapon add your shield's enhancement bonus to attack and damage rolls made with the shield as if it were a weapon enhancement bonus at level 12 i choose the paralyzed mercy at level 13 i go and prove critical longsword now i choose longsword because i love the idea that selah is this paladin of i am a day and of course the longsword is the official sword of i am a day and you get some great options with it but in the actual concept of the build it's probably better to choose a one-handed weapon that has a higher uh critical range so something like a scimitar or i don't know all of them by heart but there are there are better options as far as one-handed weapons that will do critical attacks more often but again for role-playing purposes i like going with the long sword here at level 15 take critical focus and then for the mercy take curse and for your level 17 feet take bashing finish whenever you score a critical hit with a melee weapon you can make a shield bash attack against the same target using the same bonus as a free action for your level 18 mercy take confused for your level 19 feet you want to take improved to weapon fighting keep in mind this requires you to have a 17 on dexterity so sila is going to need a belt of at least plus 4 dexterity in order for you to be able to take this feet at level 19 that should be no problem whatsoever okay so now that we've went through all the character levels let's go through the mythic path options at mythic level one take ever ready at mythic level two take power attack mythic at mythic level three take mythical beast and mythic level four take destructive shockwave and honestly thinking about it there's definitely a case to be made to switch these two take destructive shockwave first and then power attack second destructive shockwave is going to ensure that any time you miss with a melee attack the target still takes damage equal to your strength bonus so you might still be missing uh quite a bit at the time that you're taking um mythic level two so destructive shockwave might be the better choice and then take power attack here at level four at mythic level five scroll down and take thundering blows once per round when your melee attack misses the target you deal 2d6 plus 1d6 per 2 mythic rank sonic damage to all enemies in a 10 foot radius at mythic level 6 take improved critical long sword at mythic level 7 take leading strike and mythic level eight take two weapon fighting mythic and mythic level nine you take always a chance and then for mythic level 10 i can't show you that but i will probably end up taking flawless attacks so now that we went through the character levels and the mythic levels let's go ahead and take a look at her spells real quick i'll be honest i don't think uh the vast majority of them are anything to write home about most of them should be covered by your cleric or some other character sela's not the type to be cast the spells all day she does have veil of heaven which is going to give you a plus two sacred bonus to ac and on saves both of those bonuses apply only against attacks or effects created by outsiders with the evil subtype um then she also has veil of positive energy which does the same thing specifically towards undead i usually use veil of heaven there are undead in the game but it's hard to predict when you're going to face them whereas evil people with whereas outsiders with the evil subtype are more plentiful at level two she gets aura of greater courage so she can basically create an aura that will render all allies immune to fear magic or otherwise and it lasts for 10 minutes per level um and then she also has effortless armor which makes it so that armor no longer reduces her speed there are clerics and other people who can cast this but i feel like this isn't the kind of buff you necessarily have running all the time so it might be nice to have sela just casting on herself as opposed to one of your other prominent casters being forced to slot this on a regular basis earlier in the game as well protect you from chaos and evil is nice it's gonna provide you a plus two deflection bonus to ac and a plus 2 resistance bonus on saves against creatures who are chaotic or evil protection from evil is plentiful in with your party members but i think sela is the only party member you get who can cast protection from chaos so very nice stuff and then at level three again most of this stuff should be covered by your cleric prayer resistant energy communal archons aura she doesn't have a charisma that's high enough in order to really make use of our cons or and then she also has angelic aspect it's gonna give you some damage resistance and then a plus two deflection bonus to ac and on saves against attacks made or effects created by evil creatures it's also going to make her weapons good aligned so it's okay but it's not like that crazy and then finally add level four which is the highest level of spells that i get for her she's got angelic aspect greater which provides a protective aura that gives a plus four deflection bonus to ac and a plus four resistance bonus on saving throws against evil creatures so that's pretty cool and then i do like holy sword um it causes your weapon to act as a plus five holy weapon um giving a plus five enhanced bonus on attack ad damage rolls and then extra 2d6 damage against evil opponents and it also emits a magic circle against evil effect as a spell and then if we go through the special abilities and the feats so she gives her armor proficiency and martial weapons proficiency automatically she comes with shield and shield focus we took power attack to increase the damage she does in melee range outflank gives her more opportunities for attack of opportunities as well as increasing her flanking bonus two weapon fighting is necessary because we're using shield bash so the shield is essentially looked at as a second weapon um shield bash we took of course so that we can use light and heavy shields as weapons shield master ensures we don't actually take any penalties on attack rolls when using a shield and the enhancement bonus is going to increase our attack and damage we increased critical for our long sword and then got critical focus to be able to take advantage of bashing finish whenever you score a critical hit with a melee weapon you can make a shield bash attack against the same target using the same bonus as a free action also increasing our critical chance ties in with outflank we're gonna give our allies more attacks of opportunity the more we're able to crit and then we took an additional rank of improve to weapon fighting that gives us a second attack with our offhand weapon really really wanted to take greater to weapon fighting but as i already stated this build is feet starved and there was nothing that i took that i really wanted to let go of if i was going to choose something i might have let critical focus go but i just i really wanted to focus on getting those huge damage boost um when she's out and about now as far as the special abilities that we have we took mythical beasts to increase the efficacy of our pet ever ready gives us more attacks of opportunity per round and increases the bonus on attack roles and damage rules that we get when trying to attempt an attack of opportunity so again all tying in with outflink making sure that every time we have an attack of opportunity we make the most of it leading strike is going to increase the damage of your melee attacks always a chance gives you a better chance to be able to hit your melee attacks and then when we do miss we have thundering blows which is going to do an area effect to all enemies dealing them sonic damage and destructive sock waves so every time we miss we're going to deal the damage from our strength modifier which at this time level 20 it is plus nine probably could have bumped that higher done some other things she doesn't have any of our buffs on right now um so yeah definitely definitely worth taking destructive shockwave um we have a bunch of different mercies that are going to allow us to take off really nasty statuses when they come onto our party and then of course all the immunities and morale bonuses that being a paladin provides as well so great great stuff overall and then to go through her items list she does have um boots that give her a plus 10 bonus to base speed and a constant freedom of movement spell effect um she gets a spell resistance and a plus one luck bonus on all saving throws from her gloves her belt gives her a plus six on strength and it creates an aura that causes enemies and reigns to suffer a negative two penalty on well saving throws of course that doesn't do anything for her but your casters will appreciate it uh she's got an alchemist shirt which gives her a plus three bonus on saving throws against acid and makes her immune to nauseated she's got a plus five heavy armor i think i ended up losing the original heavy armor i got somehow so this is just a regular plus five one without any other special bells and whistles um she's got half the pair which when you combine it with somebody else that has a necklace which i think is so sale it will give both people a plus ten plus two circumstance bonus on attack rolls and to ac then she's got the uh lauren charisma band which is a plus four enhancement bonus two charisma maybe i never found a plus six enhancement bonus because i did amber's building she didn't have a plus six headband either i have to do a better job of trying to find those next playthrough i do um she also has a goggles of quick grass which gives a plus 15 competence bonus own persuasion skill checks as well as all lore and knowledge skill checks um she's got a cloaker resistance plus six ring of protection plus five and then she's also got a ring of summoning the summoning portion doesn't do anything for really but the second part gives an arm that's a plus two bonus to weapon damage rolls and a plus two bonus on saving throws against attacks made or effects created by chaotic creatures and then she also have braces of dominance this is specifically for two-handed weapons so it doesn't really help here and then finally um her shield i actually ran her as a two-handed warrior during my playthrough which is why she has those gloves um so i only have just like a more regular plus five shield it does grant his wielder immunity the slashing and piercing damage while the wilder is at full health great great stuff um now the sword is radiant i'll go ahead and show that to you all but i just want to pause here in case there's anybody who's trying to upgrade radiance and does not want to see what the final version of it looks like as far as the stats that you get um so if if you don't want to see that you can of course skip to the next section where we'll go to a battle but otherwise for those who do want to see it um it is i believe the only plus six long sword in the game and it has to be it doesn't have to be in the hands of a good aligned person there's a different way you can level it up that'll make it um useful for an evil person but it gives you a spell resistance of five plus the wielder's class level to both the person who has it and anyone adjacent to her it also enables the wielder to use greater dispel magic and it is considered to be a holy weapon so it deals an extra 2d six points of damage against all creatures of evil alignment and obviously it is the official i am a day weapon which is the reason why i chose to specialize in long sword even though um the critical threat range could definitely be larger with some of the other possibilities that are available so now that we finish leveling up sealer let's talk about the horse you've got several options about the class to take for the horse personally i always take aggressor now um there are some advantages to some of the other ones bully will allow your pet to start out with trip and bull rush i don't take this because you can't get the pet's intelligence high enough to take the greater versions of this so you can't get greater trip um because i it requires in a level of intelligence that doesn't make sense for your pet to have or greater bull rush so i for the most part leave those alone now bullark bulwark kind of makes more sense because i do often times take light barting medium barring and then heavy barting some for those who don't know regular characters use armor pets use barding now the problem that i have with this is it waits way longer to give you medium barring than the time in which the game gives you good medium burning to use so the first time i took the horse i tried to go ahead and select bulwark and i was getting great armor to use around level six and for those who have played the game you know three levels is a long time to have a great item that you want to use and not be able to use it so frankly i find myself at least to start just going ahead and getting aggressor which um rewards you for doing attacks it allows creatures to put bleeding onto specific targets and then later on down the line like once the horse is past level three it might make sense to go ahead and respect and take bulwark and that way you can take those two feats and put him into something else you can make your own decision but going from aggressor you always always always put perception on your pets there's just no reason not to more than likely they're going to be right up front and they come with a class skill in it so it's always a great choice and then for me personally i don't put stealth into a pet either i'm going to athletics or i'm going mobility and it's just a matter of does this pet depend on strength or do they depend on dexterity in the case of the horse it depends on strength so that's what i level up and then for your first level feet i go with light barting with the horse i want him right out front of everybody he's what the main tank right next to sila so i put armor on him to help ensure that he's going to be able to stay up at level 3 for the horse i get weapon focus bite and then for just about every pet you get at level four you go ahead and put a point into intelligence a level three in intelligence significantly expands what feats are available to the pet at level five i get medium barring at level 7 you all already know i pick up outflank and then at level 8 i increase strength and you should continue increasing strength throughout your level ups at level 9 i get armor proficiency heavy barting at level 11 i get improved critical bite a level 13 i take critical focus at level 15 i get sickening critical and then at level 17 i'll be honest i'm not completely sure about this but the horse uses hooves i don't see hooves listed anywhere else when i go to improve critical so i assume that's und under other natural weapons so i go ahead and grab and prove critical other natural weapons for your level 19 feet i grabbed improved initiative again charging out with sealer take all the heat off of people behind them ok so here we have a combat situation sila has her um our protection from evil i did have walter cass taste on her and she probably has pretty sure at least tried to cast holy sword but it looks like it might not have um it might have already expired okay so she's able to do a full attack seven hits let's see how this goes so she does 43 35 let's see 78 that's 40 so that's 118 that's gonna be 149 195 so good bit of damage a little bit over 200 smaller numbers than woldriff she's not doing crazy amounts of sneak attack damage but considering how sturdy she is the fact that she's still able to do an a very very solid amount of damage at the same time definitely commendable okay now we're in round two let's go ahead and do a little bit extra we'll put smite evil on the ass giant see how this works 65 50 36 36 so we got 65 50 that's 115 then she hit a critical hit so that's 175 so that's 290 which killed the giant then she had more attacks left so she hit the giant spider for 36. spider died as well um and then leading strike would have done it an additional 36 and 37 damage to each party if they had still survived okay now we're back to sila the ash giant record did attempt to hit it twice and so you'll see even without any buffs whatsoever her armor class is 45 so this is without any of the things that you would usually want to put on your tank like um bark skin armor vestments things of that nature that would pump up her ac higher and allow her to really tank anything that came against her and now we are still in a full attack range so actually we'll put another smite evil on this particular creature okay and we've got 76 and they're they're 72 so that's 148 then this is what 205 and that's what 244 um so again uh over um 200 damage to a single target and opportunities to hit other people as well if she's surrounded which as the tank she absolutely should be okay so i figured at least some of you are probably wondering does this build work well at all if you are riding the horse so let's go ahead and see how it is same fight just on the horse instead um i am in reigns to do a full attack on this ash giant wrecker so we'll go ahead and put smite evil on them and then go ahead and move forward and so let's see shadow facts start kick things off with a 33 damage bite sealer does 60 that's um then that is a hundred and what nineteen with the 26 damage from shadow facts and then sila does another 47 so that was enough to kill the ass giant and we should have had um two more attacks after that if there was someone who was closer by all right same deal again we've got a couple enemies close by puts might evil on the giant record we've got six attacks let's see how this goes wow okay um so shadow facts kicked it off again this time a 35 damage bite and then sila was able to do a critical hit which did um 209 damage to the ash giant wrecker and then because she hit a critical hit she was then immediately able to hit with her heavy shield which did 36 damage to the giant spider and killed it if either of them had still lived they would have taken an additional 32 damage and 28 damage respectively from leading strike and one more time one last giant put on smite evil [Music] and obliterated so shadow facts did 35 then sela followed up with um this would have been let's see what 117 and then 168 damage overall and she this was one two three four attacks so she would have had two more attacks she could have done if the ass giant had not died and this is without haste or any of the other busts we would have used to significantly increase the damage she was capable of she also did not have of course any other defensive buffs either this is just straight up going at them so i think this definitely showcases the build and shows that it is extremely viable you can throw sela right out in the midst of everything without any buffs um her armor class is 38 and she's got a bunch of different things she can put on herself to boost that up fire uh higher from um bark skin and arm investments and all the other things that your party should have available to ensure your tank is ready to go so that's the bill let me know down in the comments what do you think are there some things i should have done better to make her a better sword and board warrior i know you do not need a shield you do not have to have the shield in order to be a great tank this was just something fun to play with i will still do another build where she's just a two-handed warrior and using her own uh natural armor in order to be able to protect herself this was just something i thought would be fun to do as and as always if you enjoy this video please leave me a like down below share this content and subscribe to the channel if you haven't already i will see you all in the next video take care
