sea billows road whatever my life it don't matter if i've been up it doesn't matter if i've been down it doesn't matter if i'm happy it doesn't whatever my life god has taught me to say it is well is you lord we lift up to you this morning bay harper in the loss of her husband franklin god we know lord god we already know lord god that you have sent the holy spirit to be her comforter so faith please know that we are praying for you and we're lifting you up before the lord and god we're also grateful lord god for the family of gloria tate be the louds we're thinking about you and your family in the loss of your mother in the loss of the family member we just thank god for the time that you had with her and we're lifting you up we're holding your arms up so lord we thank you god we thank you that every concern every tear god you are already aware of and we just bless you even now god in the name of jesus our sister beth beth we already have you lifted in prayer and we're just praying we'll continue to praying for you and the loss of your dad we want you to know that we love you and we are here for you there is nothing that we won't do to support you god bless you and we want to lift up right now bishop and dr stephanie as they continue to do the good work of this ministry along with the mount zion staff and leadership god you already know what the leads are the needs are our god but we just want to pray right now in the name of jesus that you will give them a fresh anointing to do the work of you lord god we want to thank you right now that as you lead guide and direct their steps that their ears will be inclined to hear you god i thank you god for making them aware of every single distraction that would come to distract them from doing your good work god we thank you right now for spiritual wisdom and discernment in the name of jesus and god not only these that we have lifted up but god we thank you for everyone that's in the sanctuary god we thank you for those who are listening those of you who are in your kitchen those of you who are doing your work and you have your earbuds on just know that jesus loves you and he is waiting to hear from you so god i thank you for those who may have needs as far as their health god i thank you right now in the name of jesus that your word declares that every good and perfect gift god comes from you so lord we say thank you god even though our heads are bound we lift up our hands and we give you all the glory we give you all the praise we give you all the honor we know that everything that we're experiencing god it could not happen unless you allowed it god so god we say thank you we thank you that we were afflicted god we thank you god for every battle god we thank you for every scar but god we thank you more than anything for the blood of jesus that covers us god the blood of jesus lord god it's real it's real in our souls and god we thank you god we thank you for those that may be faced with god not only with grief god and not only with loss of life but god those who are dealing with loss of a job or loss of a home a loss of finances god your word declares that there is not one thing that is too hard for you so we say god we are just honoring you for continuing to be god we lift up your name right now in the name of jesus god we sometimes what god asks you for things over and over and over and we know that you hear us but god right now we want to say thank you thank you jesus for being jesus thank you jesus for dying on the cross thank you jesus for hearing us when we didn't have words god thank you lord god that you sent the holy spirit to interpret our loans and our groans thank you jesus that you woke us up this morning and you didn't let our feet stumble god but you let us make our way to mount you let us make our way to tune in god i thank you god i bless you god we thank you for the activity of our lives god we thank you that we could have been dead living in our grave but lord god you didn't speak fit god we say thank you for our jobs thank you for our families thank you for the activity of our lives thank you that we got a spell on our face thinking that the devil can kill us although he tried thank you lord ella we give you honor we give you glory thank you god that we're able to sing a song we're able to praise you in the midst of the story thank you god that we have a memory god we know that you can do it because we've seen you do it before thank you god that we are not discouraged and we are not dismayed thank you god that we know the word we got that thing in our belly and thank you god at any given moment we will only to be god thank you that this is a season for manifestation god i thank you right now in the name of jesus god we don't have to worry we don't have to press we have to believe we have to stay blessed through your word and know that the faith that brought us through yesterday in the same faith that would bring us through today and if god although sometimes we suffer god we say thank you cause you don't leave us there you bring us through lord i thank you again for the leaders of this house god i thank you for bishop walker i thank you for dr stephanie god i thank you that you continue to cover their family god i thank you that you continue to make a way god i think that even before they ask you for on come on now but first of all i want to say congratulations to her because she uh she just got elected to the birmingham city school board district 2. in that a blessing the other thing you need to know about her she's so faithful now you see her usher right you know why she lives in birmingham birmingham that's birmingham alabama we're in nashville tennessee she drives to nashville twice a month to come to church to serve as an usher yeah [Applause] yeah yeah and when she's not when she's not in person she's still streaming virtually and we just want her to know how much we appreciate her and how god has honored you your faithfulness and how you're going gonna serve those people in birmingham on that school board i know it's a awesome testimony you shared it and uh i know she's give you glory and praise for what you're gonna do as only you know how in jesus name amen the word of the lord today for us is in philippi philippians philippians chapter four verses six through eight anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto god and the peace of god which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds through christ jesus finally brother and whatever things are true whatever things are noble whatever things are just whatever things of good or pure whatever things are lovely and pure a good rapport if there be any virtue and have to be any praise meditate or think on these things you may be seated today we're going into this series and as we are in part four today i want to talk about how do we handle expectations expectations now one of the common denominators in this place today is that all of us if we were honest in some form or fashion we are expecting something it is quite common that when you have worked for something labored for it prayed for it that eventually you desire to see it come to fruition expectation is defined as a strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future and though we have in our mind what we think should happen we don't always agree with the timing in which it will be delivered let's be honest we want what we want when we want it and in this day of amazon and instacart where you can click a button and have most of what you want delivered on your schedule it is important that you understand today that's not how prayer works it's important for you and i to understand the importance of divine timing it's important that we learn the power of patience it's also important that we know what grandmother told us that god may not come would you want him to come but he's always on time god is sovereign and he is under no obligation to move when you want him to move or to do what you want him to do but when god does deliver be well assured that he delivers at the right time and he delivers the right thing and he knows what you need better that you know yourself it comes down to trust do you really trust god paul helps us today because he gives us a word to help bring down our stress level so that we don't allow anxiety to bring about our demise because whatever you need done whatever you're believing god for whatever it is that you're trusting god for you understand how to manage your expectations so that your expectations are always in alignment with the will of god when paul speaks to the church at philippi he had a great relationship with them and paul spends a great deal of time talking about the christian life the church at philippi held a special place in paul's heart it was a church at philippi that supported paul in his ministry and as consequence paul gives them a word to say because you have ministered to me and supported my ministry my god will supply all of your needs according to his riches in glory paul was greatly concerned however about the church at philippi as he began to speak to them about what it really meant to live out their faith in the proper attitude and the proper understanding of what faith looks like in the midst of those who were teaching false doctrine apostates they were called false teachers those who were teaching things that were not consistent with the christ to whom they had followed and yet in the midst of helping them put hardship in perspective in the midst of helping the church at philippi the first three chapters understand how to deal with the sufferings they had to endure paul gives them this word that it really comes down to your mind that ultimately how you live out your faith has a lot to do with the state of mind you find yourself in you think about it just for a moment in romans paul says that we should be transformed by the renewing of our mind that we may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of god when a person is saved and accepts the lord jesus christ in their heart and confesses with their mouth it is in direct proportion to their mind being changed the biggest moment of conversion that can ever happen in your life the moment when you turn from the way you've always done it to another way god wants it done is when you have a mind shift the hardest thing for any person in this place watching me around the world is to get your mind to change and what's interesting about that is that when you finally understand the power of your mind a strong mind and a strong faith cannot be defeated you really can have a strong faith but have a jacked up mind and never receive the thing that god has for your life you can be believing god for something by faith but your mind can be so messed up the enemy can interrogate your mind that it begins to cause your faith to wonder and wonder and so as a consequence paul understood what anxiety does to the believer particularly when you're looking at a situation and you're believing god for the results but yet now the enemy is playing games with your mind and so therefore even as you watch me today some of you now know that your anxiety level has been off the chain and the fact is watch how this works it really comes down to how does your mind manage the middle see there is a point called origination when god gives you a promise that's it right god tells you he's going to do something at that point has a great deal of excitement your mind is excited your spirit is excited god said god told me it was going to happen that's the point of origination the promise but then that's the point of delivery that's called manifestation that's when it actually occurs and that's when the mind is okay there too because i see it it's there it's physical it's present it is i can touch it the problem however is from the point of origination the point of manifestation how does my mind handle the stuff in the middle this is what takes so long what's taking so long lord i thought you pretended that was going to happen i didn't see this curveball i didn't see this detour i did not know it was going to be this much hell before i got what you promised me so it's hard when you're trying to manage life in the hallway because you know one door has closed and another door has not opened up and now you've got to trust god in the hallway and you got to tell people god said it was going to happen and they look at your situation like they don't know like it's going to happen to me how do you manage your level of anxiety don't nobody believe it's going to happen but you well paul says be anxious for nothing let me talk to somebody today because i want to help you today understand you got to refuse to panic we're getting ready to tear the panic button off i want you to hear this today because paul says be anxious for nothing which is a command it is not an option that you have to get to a point where you never allow your circumstances to cause you to panic when you panic you doubt the power of god when you panic it is a result of you relying upon your own resources and concluding that because you have limited resources it must not it is not going to happen please understand that god is not looking at your resources and your giftings and all of your talent to get this done he can get this done without you you have got to mature to the point where you trust god and you say god i trust your providential will for my life because i know that even when it looks like nothing's happening you are still moving you see what you must understand is that anxiety will lead you to poor decisions let me talk to you just for a moment researchers found that anxiety can mess up your judgment studies have shown that anxiety causes you to be less able to differentiate between the unthreatening things and those things that are actually a threat it leads to what's called overgeneralization in essence here is the rule it it's when a person struggles at work to meet a deadline and then they generalize but maybe i'm a bad employee or they struggle to get an assignment done for school and now i'm a horrible student i shouldn't even be here because you're generalizing one isolated event and the anxiety begins to swell or maybe i made a mistake as a parent so now i'm a horrible parent because what happens the enemy interrogates your mind and say see you're horrible it's not going to happen you shouldn't even be here you shouldn't be trying this but you must understand something people like god listen very carefully when you're anxious and you are consumed like that it's because you've allowed your emotions to take precedent in your life see when you get in your feelings you make unwise decisions when you all wrapped up in your emotions it causes you to do stuff like go into debt it causes you to end up in bad relationships it causes you to start eating yourself to death because your emotive decisions cause you to get ahead of god when you look back over your life let's be honest let's think about it think about all the pain you could have saved your life had you not made an emotional decision aren't there times in your life in my life too i know man you were looking at your life like lord have mercy if i had just not allowed myself to be lived by my emotions but what happened i started panicking i started thinking nothing was going to happen so i took things into my own hand you looked at yourself and said you know i'm a time clock chicken i don't know if i'm ever have a child so you just said come on johnny don't you just say well just look like angle ever get this money to pay this bill so you ended up doing something that you wish you had not done right so the issue is when you find yourself in a place of anxiety you're not thinking properly because you're thinking out of your emotions and you're moving too quickly because you don't think the thing is actually going to happen because anxiety exposes a lack of faith see the bible says in hebrews 11 1 faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen watch this so anxiety says i don't see it so it starbucks around the city because that's why i studied that's my flow and you know i learned in starbucks it's like for me there's a culture and while i'm in starbucks god speaks to me about prayer for you like okay because the culture of starbucks to me reminds me of how my prayer and supplication works there's a certain language it's a certain nomenclature in starbucks it's a culture you walk in so when i go to starbucks because i go regularly i i don't have to necessarily look at the menu because the menu is in me i know the menu so when the menu is in you you don't have to reference it that word have i hid in my heart that i may not sin against it because i could only ask for what's on the menu you can't be out asking god for stuff on the menu god like that that ain't in my word what you asking for let me get mad at god tell me you no that ain't in my word i can only deliver what's on the menu watch this so i'm in starbucks i'm gonna bless you some of y'all gonna catch it you want you got to be specific about what size you watch this now once i tell him what size i want guess what she does next she says what is your name now i give her my name now i don't tell her i'm on it but when they call my name can't nobody get my order but me cause it's got my name on it so don't get mad at my grundy if you ordered a tall you had the same choice to order whatever size you marriage and you can't get peace from a drink you can't get it from a smoke you can't get it from a relationship somebody who knows peace only comes from god and there's some folk here right now that can thank god for nothing else i thank god for peace i give god glory after all the trauma and drama i've been through lord you kept my mind stayed on you because peace watches may not change your situation but it'll change you in it i may have to go through this tunnel i may have to go through this process to get what i'm believing god for but it may not change that but it's going to change me in it god never stopped the three hebrew boys from going through the fiery furnace but he changed them in it god never stopped daniel from going through the lion's den but he shall let daniel sleep in it you may have to go through some things but god will change you in the midst of it people trying to figure out by looking at you why you haven't lost your mind so you got to be careful when people of the chessboard and the image of the christ was on the other and at the bottom of the inscription was called checkmate it looked like satan had actually won the chess match and it was going for millions of dollar it was it was a like a multi-multi-multi-million dollar painting until one day an old man came in to look at the painting he looked at it looked at it he kept coming back to it and they called the curator of the museum and said something's wrong with that painting he says what do you mean everybody knows this painting is checkmate it's designed to be kind of a satirical kind of work and you know the artist put like no no no no something's wrong with the painting what's wrong is there scratches or something wrong no no no no no what's the painting called checkmate what's the satire in it well it looks like the enemy has defeated good and it's declaring checkmate the old man said sir something's wrong with the painting how much is it worth well last estimate was worth like 60 million dollars well sir it's about worth about 60 today because something's wrong with the painting he says well can you explain what you mean sir well you know i'm a chess master and i was looking at the board and what you call checkmate isn't true because based on my knowledge of the game the king has another move i need somebody to know that when it looks like you've been defeated and the odds are stacked against you and people have written you off and said well you might as well walk away i need somebody to know the king has another move you want to be giving god glory right now that the king has another move that is not over until god says so if you're expecting something don't wait till the battle is long somebody give him glory like it's already done [Music] when we're
