and I made my first million well I look forward to the second and third million hey all how's it going sorry we just have a little personal conversation there hope everyone is doing well out there it's Friday we made it the end of the week which I'm realizing is starting to mean less and less age I didn't realize it's I didn't realize this Friday this is like every other day I sit down and talk into a microphone it's it's it's the new reality it's the new normal that's the term I'm seeing used a lot on social media news we've returned to normal so welcome to our normal Friday activity then hope everyone's doing well out there hello on YouTube Facebook Twitter every where gam Borges calling in from Friday night and Denmark that's me that's an exciting Friday night right there it is this is this is it's a social hour right now Mikhail's saying hi from Sweden and kaya is telling us he's expecting banter you okay with that um wait so is that me is that like a little tiny chicken no it's a part of a stairway right oh yeah yeah yeah okay I'll run up and grab that in a minute you're a rabbi Lego box do you know pretty like that sound if we're strangely satisfy all right we're just gonna give a couple a couple more seconds here guys people people are still signing on and we will get rolling with this thing hello Boston hello from Israel Austria England is that the Sketchup UN happening again no aliens watching from somewhere that it's still afternoon which I guess is here so yeah Steve you'll be happy to know that I do not have drums if there's one thing if there's a sound that would be appropriate here will be drums and I'm not bringing that to the table I've got maybe I can find a tambourine and my son has a recorder tambourines percussion at least I mean maybe just flip some bowls upside down all right what I've seen tambourines mounted on stands so they actually were part of the drum kit so that's that's a lazy tambourine Estelle all right let's let's get this thing going hello everyone we've got more people are coming in we got England al salvador finland los angeles lemons UK Brazil Turkey welcome guys how's everybody doing I hope you guys are all still staying inside staying safe staying sequestered I hope everybody's staying healthy that's the most important part we're doing it all so we stay healthy we are gonna this was requested oh I should you know I'm Erin how you doing iron and this is with me as always is Jodi hi Jodi oh yeah sorry hi Jodi make that better thanks yeah and we're gonna just model some stuff in Sketchup Friday's kind of become kind of loose and we're just gonna do some modeling talk about Sketchup talk about stuff you know you know how that goes I did I don't know how much we will actually use it this week but I did create a topic over in the forum so if you guys have information you want to pass over as we model this drum kit or if you want some animals call them good but let's just say if you want some drum related puns those are up there too so I'll try and bring some to the actual event here today too in a little while I'm saving saving them up also I'm gonna say a couple things one is that this is this is probably some of the most posts I've ever gotten I posted this kind of late I think opposed to this after nine o'clock this morning and it's already had 13 replies the other thing I'll notice is that my top topic that says I'm gonna do a live stream basically got two likes and then the first pun from Colin got five and it's just and it goes that way throughout here where yeah the cheesy puns got even more more appreciation than the fact that we're doing a live stream I think the the likes for your rigid post are just implicit everybody's just like you know obviously I like that well like you said it's it like I say before it's this is just kind of what we do know it's not really a thing that's it's less special than used to be I guess I still think it's special raw thanks buddy all right before we dive in actually start modeling we have been talking about this competition we're running finish this house and first thing I can't remember if I mentioned this or not but I do want to give credit for this this the whole idea for this contest was Casey growth is his idea Casey did some co-hosting for us if well it's been a couple months back now he was taking part in our Friday live stream and he contacted me and said hey what if we do a contest about this and he came up with the original idea he came up with the rules he actually came up with the model so I wanted to I don't know if he's on here not if you are Casey you should give a shout out for one thing so every can say hi but if you're not do you see this is the later point thank you for coming up with this because this is a cool idea you can also still say hi when you do see this that's it you can say hi whenever you want we'll always take a hi-yah Steven Stewart's saying he can't find it on YouTube I was having the same issue where I don't know why but it wasn't coming up if you do go if you're on YouTube if you go to our videos it is listed there but it's not showing up on the main screen on YouTube for some reason so there's Casey so talking about the competition in case you came up with we if you haven't seen it already it's called finish this house it's being run through our forum forum South Sketchup calm same place we're looking at right now that way it is what you're going to do with this is just download our basic house and keep that core house intact and decorate the model inside and out put dressing inside of it however you want to do it make landscape paint it add a roof whatever you want and we have a couple I don't look at right now so we don't have anybody winning at this point I don't if there's even gonna be a single winner there's gonna be some that are more exciting and we want to look into more than others but let's take a look at what we got so far so this is the first one that came in this was was the first entry and talked about like just upping it right off the bat John oh I don't know if John was on here if you are John will give a shout out so we can say congratulate you and give you a virtual high five took it and put the whole thing on its side and put it into a cliff so it's sticking out of cliff Casey refer to this as being like something out of a James Bond movie which I totally agree with the black boat down here but hey great imagination right off the bat a good job well done you turn a little little angled garage or whatever this little angle part is and turn it into what looks like a stairwell coming down awesome super cool I don't know if this is is this our livestream helicopter is that a different helicopter there's John oh good job well done not only the first entry but a very unique take on that house that's awesome job well done let's all let's all high-five 3d virtual high five yeah put your hand on the screen easy dawg oh sorry oh yeah put it on my camera my microphone don't slap your microphone that'll be too loud for the rest of us so John oh did an awesome job got one other one here which is from Sebastian Heights I think I saw Sebastian's name go by Sebastian took a more traditional approach than John which is find another one with that but what I like here is this cantilevering roof comes out following the main footprint all the way around super cool idea and just beautiful arches railings great job and I think there's even some interior shots here yeah so there's the interior very cool awesome job I like this little step down into the living room too so I can take screen is full-bodied right there that's good stuff awesome so hates bashing it's high five - all right so that's two we got to next week let's get more than two so by next Friday we need at least I don't know like six people six new entries by next Friday that's what I'd love to see that we can take a look at if you don't already follow it come on to the forum there's two streams one is just called finish this house contest and that's the rules that's the link to the file download and then separate from that is the finish this house entries this is where people are actually going to post their their files so in here what we're asking for is an image or two if you want but then also your link to the 3d warehouse file so you do have to actually post your file anything else for you if you post just a picture something like that well we will take it out of there so we do want to make sure you actually create the model post it and that would be awesome all right cool well let's get on to the drum kit I also should say I am using the term drum kit the original request was drum set so I don't know if anybody cares about that but I just thought I'd call it out because is it is there a difference does that mean something different I don't know some people say drum set some people say drum kit I just want to say it's it's both they're both a thing they're both you can call this either ice okay so you're going to model a drum kit in spite of the fact that someone else wanted a drum set I don't think it's intentional I think some point along the way in my life somebody used the term kit enough times the drum kit stuck in my head instead of drum set but I don't know what Nikes I mean I think it feels like whenever I say drum kit I feel like I might be a little bit of a musician I say drum set I'm a parent thumbing through this year's wish book here's one for $50 yeah and maybe it's maybe that's at JDC are you actually drummer he made a comment about being a drummer and maybe I've just spent enough time in bands that people have been saying drum kit and it's stuck maybe that was my maybe that's my problem maybe that's one of my problems you're you're in a band what are you what do you play I play bass and I have since high school on and off so I spend a lot of time around oh good JDC is actually a drummer so he'll be able to help out and all this stuff I don't know about all right prepare to be leaned upon get ready brace yourself and thanks for showing up alright so here is okay so we're actually first I'm gonna throw this out I might I might come back to this a couple times I would love to come up with a building of some sort to do next Friday I don't know what it is but if you guys have good ideas for something that we could we could put together like a style of building or something like that please throw that up in the comments if you want to tag at Sketch up when you do it that way we can keep a keep track of it but it'd be nice to have some kind of architectural model that you do next week something we did we did columns last week but it's been well since you've actually done a building building so I'd like to do that if you guys have cool ideas let me know otherwise I'll I'll to go pick up something on my own yeah I've already got my Frank great we could yeah so yeah so throw those ideas up there now here is my thought for this particular model so we've been doing a lot of models where we've been working off of specific plans our Wednesday models have almost all come from specific dimensions last time we did the column which wasn't specific to mention so much as specific ratios so we've been doing a lot of that this time I want this to be a little bit more freeform fun modeling kind of thing I want to make an actual thing which I think a drumkit weekend he's a drumkit by the way was suggested by you guys so a viewer somewhere actually said that that was what they and so that's why we're doing a drum kit so let's take a look at that so I was thinking of creating just starting with just a standard like 5 piece drum kit we will do a bass drum a couple of Tom's floor toms snare and then we'll do a hi-hat a couple cymbals we'll see how long that takes and go from there if we want to add on to that or make copies of pieces and duplicate them we could do that as well so let's let's take a look at how we might go about that so my my inclination is to start with the the biggest piece in the kit which would be the the floor or the bass drum cymbal big right and right in the middle if you're doing it right it's the symbol well I guess depends on the situs it may be well you could have a gong back there it could happen exactly oh wait I want to give I want to give a shout out to somebody real quick ah the color the color oh no this is my Colorado topo map made by my friend and co-worker Chris brazier not sure if Chris is on but this is a cool 3d print he actually did of the topography of the Front Range of Colorado and he overlaid it onto the Colorado map pretty cool I just had to say I can't I can't see you I can only see your screen it looks great I look great don't even worry about ok ok pace drum are you we weren't um yeah we're not gonna do the one that just got posted on the forum compensating okay so let's do a bass drum so bass drums are generally and JDC you're gonna be my go-to here you're gonna tell me when I'm lying unintentional of course not on the lying on purpose I think bass drums are 20 to 24 inches somewhere in there so I'm gonna come up kind of with my my no it's not I'm going to be a template because we're to be making these changes each drums gonna be a little bit different I don't really plan to reuse a whole lot of stuff here but the drum is made of fundamentally it's just a cylinder and then there is a head over one or both ends then there's a rim around that and then we have some pieces that that connect the rim back to the body those are the main pieces so I want to start here with just assembling just that basic geometry again I don't wanna get super detailed I don't want to get exact 22 22 inches okay I'm gonna go the big one I'm gonna go 22 inches all right so I'm gonna start by creating and and how deep is that jvc I think that's like what I don't know when my when I followed in my head okay do you see this at 22 22 right so that's that's the width this way it's almost two feet and then I think the depth so if you're sitting from it how deep it goes at this way I think is like a foot and a half something like that I don't know I'm gonna start making stuff you tell me you tell me what it should be I'm gonna stick with 24 inches per side all of my circles I'm just going to make 24 inches assessing these super-high resolution or anything and that's okay I'm gonna make this 11 inches and then I'm gonna make the the thickness of the the shell here I'm just going to make it a quarter inch so I'm going to offset this in 0.25 and delete that so now I have just that outer dimension 22 inch ring I can take that push pull it and I'll seem like 16 inches see if that looks all right I'm gonna take that make that component base what is that part this is the shell or something I don't remember what there that's probably totally wrong anyhow we're gonna tune okay 18 inches is good he's saying all right so what we're gonna do now is I'm gonna put a head on here and a rim and we'll just put that around here so what I'm thinking I'm gonna get myself just a little a little bit of geometry to work with here actually that's that's as far as you need to go cuz I'm willing to build half of this it's gonna come back midpoint okay and I found a great kind of grade picture outpost on the on the forum here it tells all the different pieces you've got a build in a proper kit yeah so the heads gonna come down something like this and then I'm gonna put my rim piece on like that there we go that's good that's the different pieces so again I'm not looking for exact precision but a representation so I think this is gonna work I'm gonna create another circle um well okay so I mean I'm not a drummer but it seems like that's usually like flipped over sideways like it seems like you can lose some of the effect of the base by okay ten minutes I might be I might be not quite working in the right direction right now okay that's that's fair that is fair I will I'll we'll get there okay so that that's like a little bit too much I looked kind of cheesy we're gonna come bring it back just a little bit maybe is a cartoon drum kit I could be alright so let's see what something like that looks like so I created this circle right in the middle of the drum kit just to use as a reference as I do that or as a reference for my follow me so you draw my profile here on the side follow me and then grab this shape and that'll just spread that around alright that looks okay I think that'll work yeah okay so I'm gonna take that now and the lugs that are on here that tie it down to the body I believe on a bass drum we're going to have eight of them so I'm gonna pick one spot one side doesn't really matter which side you and I'm gonna have this I'm going to take a rectangle right here and that's the that rectangle is going to serve to break these lines out of the rest so this is this curve is still continuous around so I broke it using just that piece so now I'm going to take this and I'm uh say divide and I'm a divided into three pieces drop a line vertical on both of those and then I'm going to mark mark posted on Facebook posted a great reference that has dimensions for different drums bass is 22 by 16 that's close that's two inches off yeah anyway you can I'll save this we can we can I'll post it on there and this mark once posted on the forum I'll put it on for me get it up there all right so this is where I'm gonna put my lug nope got sperg data too and I'm going to turn on x-ray look at this point is the middle so I have 24 I want to put eight of these little pieces popping out I need to let's see 24 divided by 8 so every three one two three 7x all right there we go looking like a drum I'm gonna grab all of that and make that into a component we call that the base hit okay now these pieces and we're I spent a little bit time on this because we're going to copy this similar geometry I'm not making a lot of well maybe this part will be a reusable component a lot of this geometry will end up having to make again and again so I'm gonna come in here so it looks like Andrew and Andy wait they're both Andrews they're both Andy's they're both they're starting early on the drinking game so I guess it's time to say chief all right Lawrence was got spurred on the forum and he's posted a couple well he posted that he appeared frightening that's that success I've dad that's a little much all right again I'm gonna try keep this light so I'm gonna come in with my circle I said all my drums during me 24 for these lugs I don't see the need to go 24 so I'm gonna drop these down to 12 and then I'm just gonna put a circle like I got to turn off snapping my model info I do still have under units I have length snapping turned on get rid of that all right there we go now to do it I want alright so this I'm going to start by pulling this down this will go into a thing that sits outside I don't know what that's called I apologize and then I'm going to take this I'm going to offset this like that and then pull that up just ever so slightly pull this up ever so slightly and then the actual lug is a square so I'm going to come in here with my rectangle go find the center option to put the center in and then just drag out a square and I'll pull that up alright so that's gonna be that's gonna be my my drum lug drum lug so I'm looking here I got I found a great graphic it's got all the names and while there are slug casing they actually call those tension rods all right I totally believe that yeah so that's what I forget don't forget to add the butt plate an air hole are there any buttresses on a nope run up yeah they must be on the backside oh oh so simple and so good all right oh yes we are Friday it is Friday make another give me a sec okay all right I'm gonna draw a rectangle from the center in the middle here I'm going to flip it totally upside down stay on this and give me a square right this is not perfect yet this is not right so we're not we're not aligned to the body of the drum at this point so I'm going to grab all of this I'm going to rotate it from the center of my square here and I'm going to rotate it so that this gets turned right back to the middle there you go so that gets this square aligned with this face now I'm going to take this and pull this down like that I'm gonna push pull this out till it hits the face and then maybe I'll grab this line right here and drag it straight down you just look something along those lines it's a little clunky I mean actually you know I'm going to come in here and I'm going to knock just knock the edges off like that where's the midpoint No I need a a point to copy that from there we go flip that over here I'm gonna push this back up and build a little little extra work on this guy because I'll be able to reuse this oh of course I made it I made myself made that a little bit more work didn't I you do you it's Friday I know stuffs happy justo stuff is already happening okay I'll leave it like that like that all right so I'm going to take all of that make that into a component and I'll just call that a tension assembly cuz all right I take that now I'm gonna rotate it with my x-ray turned on so I grab that center of that circle on the inside and I'm going to go from this corner right here option to this corner right here 7x boom and there we go we got those pieces all way around now I'm gonna take all of that all those pieces I just made oh and this was supposed to be 16 right and I made it 18 so coming here real quick and push that back up 2 inches now now now let's look at this thing you know what I should have done and I didn't because I I mentioned I've mentioned this many times before is I always try to build circles off of the the origin because it is so much easier to keep track of the middle of a circle and the edges of a circle if I'm on the origin alright so put that drum back I'm sorry Laura excuse me put that back on the origin so I am I can grab all of this vertically too there we go now we're on the origin so what I want to do is I want to take all of this that I made that and flip it around so it's on the other side I'm going to do that using rotate I'm going to come to the middle of this line right here and constrain to the green and then I can just say option and then just copy that all around the other side well it seems like that would be closer to the end let's check again what did i do what did I do wrong all right let's try it again you get it's better you're gonna get it sometimes I talk instead of doing the things I say I'm gonna do and I think that's exactly it up in there so I found that's probably where I'm failing with my kids let's talking or do they always do what I do they never do what I said they know all right I'm gonna take all of that it's not done yet but I'm going to take all that as it is and I'm going to group it I'm not making the component because this piece won't repeat the other chunks inside might but this piece right here is a collection of components and that's how I personally choose to use groups and components that's that's my thing means you can't do it mine all right I'm gonna take that and I'm gonna grab this end point right here and I move that vertically up to my zero plane not that I have to you but I like it I want it so I learnt wonders if you're gonna add a nice wood grain to the outside of that but I think you could go that route or you might need to do something glittery it seems like all the best bass drums have kind of a nice yeah either wood veneer or a glittery lesson tour yes getcha red all right so we need a couple things this is this is it's looking good but it's not it's not done because it doesn't have legs it's just gonna roll away the other thing it doesn't have is it doesn't have this I don't know that we have this part on here but this lug thing there's a thing in the top of a bass drum that lets an arm come out that holds the two toms so we got to add those pieces move gold metal flake that sounds ideal I'm gonna turn my hands around you was that I had that for breakfast gold metal flake talk to a doctor [Laughter] all right so let's see I think what I want to do because I apparently I'm a glutton for punishment I think I want this line that is my my leg to come out perpendicular to this line right here so that would mean it would come right here and it'll come out like that I think I think it's just called a Tom rack i buy that know me the thing on the top yeah that could be all right I'm going to draw a circle so you can see when I when I hover over this line right now the let's see how this works something like that that was perpendicular this piece that's not what I want what I want to do is I want to create my assembly that's going to be the foot so it's going to have a base it's gonna go up against it it's gonna have kind of a collar that the leg comes out of and that's going to have a foot on the end so I have a bunch of different cylindrical pieces along this piece but I want them all to fall in line with this so there's a couple ways I could do this the easiest I can think of is to create a couple of lines to I'm gonna make a group but to make a group you do have to have at least two things so I can't make just a single thing a single face or a single line can't be a group so I just drew a second line here just so I have something to do this with and I'm gonna say make group and I guess I could call this component that would work too now I'm going to come in here again I'm going to align my axes to that what that's gonna do or you're reckless oh crap axis good news right adopted a well I got I got learned I could despite my best efforts I said it right all right I'm going to align my axes that's right right yeah all right and I'll just come in here and I can actually put this circle on axes and bump back up to 24 put something red at opes red axes and pull it out and make a little bit exist singular it ceases its plural acts ceases you could drink is that the game now all right I just realized me that this line is perpendicular to this face right here and not these two faces okay so here's what we're gonna do what we got to do is we got to come up with a face that spans this bump so I'm gonna do that by going from there to the middle and then back all right I'm gonna grab all these lines make that a new group and then go in this group and hide everything else all right so what I want is the line that is actually not here but perpendicular or parallel to this line okay that's are actually one so I'm going to line my axes to that now does get right ones and come up here ones that come up here yeah sounds good all right so make a circle on the red like this I'm gonna pull that up oops and get rid of this line now you know we need rather than a drinking game where they just have two people to have to take a drink every time you say something we need a bingo we need like a set of bingo cards I don't I don't dislike that idea I respect that oh and you don't have to drink you could use it as an excuse to get Reese's peanut butter cups I like it I'm a fan of those I think that's I think that's a wonderful idea I'm going to take this end I'm going to offset it and I'm going to grab that ring moving along the red axis this way close that up offset that down just doing this to make a little foot grab this line move it on the red axes all right that's pretty good so there's my there's my base lip my base leg obviously it's too big and it's got some reverse faces whoops that was the wrong button it's also not intersecting here but we'll come back to that in just one second so the first thing I do like I look like it could also be an antenna now we have a wireless drum kit I hear there's a lot of demand for that all right I'm going to show everything and now I'm going to grab this and I'm going to just move it right along the red axis because my axis is aligned inside there there we go boom that simple I'm going to take this now I'm gonna grab that surface just that one surface and say intersect face with model but hide everything else that's that gives me so I'm just going to get rid of all of this and then to close this up I like to do is draw a line across there all right there we go there's our drum foot let me take that and I will rotate that the blue axis x axis X YZ yes axis axis okay now I got now I got me second-guessing myself I'm never gonna be able to say that properly I apologize I feel like I'm at least partially to blame hundred percent all right okay I mean 100 percent is part right it's that all parts it's it's the baby be sure to save him cats freaking out thank you I did it I did it okay let's uh let's move along that's been fun I think what I'm gonna do is use this as inspiration if you will for that piece on the top for my drum the tom stand is that we called it was a Tom rack alright so I'm going to grab it and I'm gonna option copy it to 135 degrees looks like and what that gives me is that gives me this piece connecting to the face boom looks good and I'm going to explode not explode I'm gonna make unique we will keep it as oh it's not a component out no sane just do it everyone with it okay I need to I need to back up one second I want these two to be the same component so I'm gonna select both of them I'm the same eight component I'm gonna call that base base foot I hope that made both of them into what the heck am I doing here it's like this one make it a component called base foot alright I'll just get rid of this one cuz that's a group and I can rotate this one from my oddly placed foot up here on the top option flip that around 180 degrees now we have this component in there twice this is a new one so I'm going to make this a new component and I call that already forgot what you called it Tom rack Tom huh let's call it let's call it Tom rack rack I didn't remember right so John bracha suggested a Sketchup logo on the front someone else who else somebody else suggested on the front doing a wild stallions logo on the front it's a great idea so I'm gonna bring this up how are you doing John it's good to hear it's good to hear you hear a tape of that piece no probably you something like that I understand a little bit I'm not sure why I keep losing my ability to mute mute people but it where can i given get rid of that yeah we've got we've got that I'm going to presume their child but they could just be an adult acting like child in the chat for YouTube right now that's Shane his is is it is it entertaining at least I mean if an adult acting like a child you should hopefully get a laugh out of it yeah nobody's laughing they're probably laughing I guess no that doesn't mean oh good alright somebody do something like that start with and then we'll get her we'll get our toms on here and adjust that as needed cool speaking of Tom's let's let's make some no tom Tom's not here that could've been a fun segue all right yeah let's make a couple of we got 12 by 8 Tom that sounds good I'm gonna come in and make a new let's see if this is 12 that means I'm gonna come sway 6 inches I'm going to go up eight and come back over Oh point two five and then drag it back down boom boom okay and now I grab the same circle I've been using and just say follow me with that and now we have our small tom called it a shell and the other one I don't know making up terms as usual oh it's just this way so long this sounds semi semi plausible I think that's all good real ish yeah what was the what was the word that I I was I was shamed for not knowing greebles yeah that's that was I was a little surprised you did not have that one alright so here's the thing I didn't do that I wish I did I did not keep a profile of my head and rim right here so I think what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna come into this really right here well I'll go to this the top and I can trace around here take that down the center I could have should have done this right when I did this the first time I can take all of that I copy it ctrl C and I'm just going to hit undo a couple times get rid of those I don't actually need any of that cut and I'll come out here and paste this I'm just gonna set it over on the side I don't really need I don't need this to be a component anything like that it's just geometry on reference so I have about the same look to all these pieces and maybe I'll grab it bring it bring a copy with me there we go I can just sit right there so by grabbing that geometry and bringing it over I can create a head and rim that will match what's on the bass drum just by selecting here you know quick follow me and now we have the exact same geometry as we have over here we do need to come in and make a space for our what do we call this tension ascending Li yeah tension assembly so this room really needs attention all right that happened okay it happens it's a Saturday all right so yeah so so both Kai and transom are suggesting you put a TomTom like I'm presuming like the GPS setup yeah I think people that are referencing TomTom might be dating themselves or or do they mean TomTom's evil software empire logo the glass is in the kooky hat I don't know I'm pretty sure I'm pretty sure that kya was actually referencing because he said going somewhere I didn't made a comment about ducks so I don't know maybe maybe it's some kid for duck yeah TomTom that's a that's a little ways back row back yeah make me look and see that company still around right it's still run apparently I don't know anybody use it well anyway carry on my wayward son so here we are welcome back alright I'm gonna grab that piece right there I got it from the bottom two and I'm gonna put six of these on here it's smaller doesn't need a full eight so I'm gonna say that's going to go one two three four and say five X it's going to give me six spots to do that grab that make component small Tom to call the head or rim last time I'm gonna call it a head small Tom head alright now I'm going to grab I'm gonna hold on I'm gonna look at this real quick look at this assembly real quick I'm going to change some things I am going to put my look down axes right here no yeah I think that's really all I want to do yes that way so these will all stay the way they are but when I bring in a new one so if I go to components in model and I grab one of these assemblies it's going to come in vertically like this and I can put that onto my face it's not it's not you know what I should even mm-hmm I'm trying to say the best way to do this when I try it again well that's right okay so while you while you're doing that so Tom Tom apparently they still have applications even because guy uses it on his phone in addition to Google Maps for speed limits and stuff like that I use ways for that the transom said Ra's savage used TomTom when she was rowing across the Pacific Ocean to which my first reaction is who's Roz Savage my second is rowing across the Pacific Ocean yeah that's a key Tom we decide that yours huh yeah but I mean if you if you're figuring you're gonna be trapped at home for a month maybe that's maybe that's a nice alternative that's true and by the way wouldn't it be nice if this was only a month yeah sorry reality sucks okay I'm gonna bring this sign in in reality right nice I'm making some changes as we go those things stuck out a little too far for me so I'm going to pull them back in and pull them in significantly on here but we can come back and adjust that in a second these guys I did not make components which I am now regretting wah wah yeah everybody say make unique are you not making things unique I didn't this is I just made this a part of the raw geometry so in fact it wasn't - yeah no way to make a non component unique yeah so I'm gonna grab once again check grab these pieces we can rewrote eight rewrote eight oh I gotta go to the inside get my Center my reference circle we go from here option one two three four five more times five copies all right there we go now I can do the same thing I can go grab the sky right here I can connect your back on rotate him I'm here option two here five x as well I'll grab all of those I need to see my hidden lines middle of this line where yet we're at middle seriously there we go snap snap snap oh I'm killing me what am i doing there we go and we go like what the crap okay let's just let's just start again all this without that and I want to find the middle of this line right here right there come out here oh you know I did all right constraint to read midpoint click option 180 degrees oh yeah okay that makes sense because I did not pick yeah okay I got it no problem we we can do this we're gonna go looks good from from my house here to here so where are our tension assemblies as they're known by me starting just now sweet okay okay okay okay okay okay okay okay okay we're gonna come back to the vin holes right this has been brought up several times now these air holes and but plates I wasn't just making that up when I said it earlier I don't if you can hear me chef go ahead oh I can't I'm gonna hear something rattling around can't fault that all right what I am doing here is I'm using solid inspector to get rid of my extra pieces that are inside these little pieces jutting out and then I'm going to clean up and saying merge phases which gets rid of my extra lines so there we go my small tom she's a done whoops so I'm gonna grab all this minus this make that group slide slide a copy over okay now I'm trying to think about is is there a shortcut to turn this 12-inch tom into say a 14-inch tom besides escape the scale tool well if I scale it all my components are going to be weird so these these pieces right here I can I can maintain but that means that my head which is the same reference geometry on all the drum so far is going to be distorted so I'm kind of thinking I don't have a good problem and of only parametric yeah yeah cuz I could take a Sega tape am I right Internet do you can say whatever you want I certainly certainly do I bring those up to inches that takes care of the depth depth but it doesn't make it bigger this way which I'm trying to think of how to do that I can't think of anything that's not going to just drastically distort everything yeah bummer yeah I got nothing you some your your wall thing this is definitely going to go up when you use scale mm-hmm even if you didn't have components in it so I guess I'm just gonna go grab all this and delete it I'll keep a couple of these around I'll be easier to to copy I'll draw a new line Lord said just scale it nobody'll know I'll know finish the back of the cabinet man that's what Steve Jobs as dad said I already forgot my dimensions hold up hold up so eight so yeah Andy I think the problem we run into is if he scales it then it's gonna scale it's gonna change the thickness of his drum heads and then the thickness of the walls and everything is going to be proportionally larger right so I'm gonna get a line right here for reference I'm gonna drop this down so I want to make it 14 by 10 so if I start a line here drop it down five inches bring it out point two five it'll go quick though come bring it back up ten back this way another quarter inch and then down that gets me my outline which I can just take and take the circle follow me with this all right that gets me Michelle that gets me my shell now I can grab this profile again I can take this from that piece right there [Music] stick that on this edge right here Christopher's idea is probably pretty good doing an offset and a push poll this is returning to the original right I could have taken that circle off set it to toe inside and outside down a push/pull that would have worked but to be honest I mean this this piece right here is the easy part are you drumming over there yeah all right I'm OH - beta - you've inspired me all right make component and this is our medium Tom yeah all right and then I can take this follow me with this come out here huh that seems like that should connected doesn't you think no no how far is this across why is that 11 and 3/8 and not 14 inches huh there's probably something wrong with your computer all right I'm gonna take this make it a group I I'm 90% sure I started right here drop the straight down all right and then I went to the middle point drop down five came back point to five went straight up 10 came back another quarter inch drop it down okay so now from here to the origin there's five and seven okay that's why well I got an answer I guess that's that's something so I want this to be 14 inches so this should be seven inches away Oh cuz it's that got so hung up on trying to make this easier I did my best to make it harder all right you're doing a great job play that part Thanks yeah I I sometimes I do really good all right so that's seven inches the problem is that that right there so this line is drawn normal to the origin but I put it on here which these will be on the side of the drum once it comes around right now this piece this are you on the green axis are you slightly off I'm off and that's why I was so weird okay there we go and the other thing you have to do is know that's on axis okay so now if I grab this follow me with this guy right here boom that should be 1 foot 2 also known as 14 inches all right now I can take this piece what is that a metric a different number I don't do metric so it's certain to get a little personal YouTube just asked if if you're slightly off which I think we've all been asking for for years right anybody only people who know me let's try that again let's make this know about a group make your component which I'm going to call medium shell yeah everything was off there but but we're back on track now grab this follow me have you saved lately yeah and now yes okey-dokey all right so you still don't look okay well I see something if I grabbed this pull this straight through something is I'm not on okay well I'm okay so I'm off of everything's good everything's cool I'm gonna grab these two tension assemblies and right now before I go any further I'm gonna put those where they go because it's bothering me I want to verify one two three four five times all right that's good okay everything's cool again now let's come in here draw this rectangle back up same thing I did before I'm just going to divide that into three draw a line down here maybe everything's not as cool as I thought it was cuz that does not look centered all because the sides are different sizes so okay stuffs gonna happen here everybody just relax it's going to get a little a little little freaky but we'll be okay there and pull that out why are you doing that pull it out like that and then same thing I'm just going to make I'm going to break that and break that and take that piece then and I will swing that around from the center option one two three stuffs getting silly all right so we need to swing that around let's try that again rotate you're not centered from I know everything is something got a got off in the resizing process I got a rely on my circle at the semicircle still in the right spot my eye came off origin though so I got to stop trying to use the origin because the orange is not the same as it was for this smaller piece all right so that's correct all of my tensioners are off just off whoops and I also copy those tensioners off of the wrong spot as well but hey it's easy easy fix this is why Sketchup is fun you make a mistake you fix it okay so let's see my hidden geometry all right so we can see here it's so funny that you're basically making a bunch of the same thing and you'd think that you're making a a Cobra or something you already done this twice it shouldn't be that hard alright so when I move it over this way so it centers there now we're centered this way but we're not against here so I'm going to draw a line from here back to here following that face and then I can grab this just take it back there and I can get rid of those two lines I created cool all right there we go well this is this is the this is the fun fun let's see 1 2 3 4 5 X that lines up alright I was gonna go were you surprised as I was so this is what is that the midpoint of then when I go to rotate that and I grab the midpoint why am I getting multiple midpoints it was picking up the one on the interior although it shouldn't matter oh my second is a circle on the inside oh I think it was oh connecting to that play right there alright let's try some overtime know about this shenanigans like a glove alright and already know this is gonna be off because we did this before cuz we use six instead of eight sides not a big deal because it's an easy fix just rotate from here to here alright there we go alright so I grabbed all that - my reference circle make that into a new group now we got two Tom's I'm talking to Mike on one night all right so now that we have these I've been trying to keep them on axes as much as possible but I'm not too worried about it anymore I want to get this so that because I'm gonna have a hole right in one side that is in going to this rack so I want to get that these two pieces facing each other so I'm gonna rotate it can I get the center point no I'm going to rotate it so that this line is parallel to the red axes same thing here I'll grab this rotate I don't have to have a point I'm gonna grab the middle point of this so this line right here is halfway between these two assemblies we grab from day to there to the opposite side and boom like that on the red axis and then to align them I'll I'll just use any point there that and then I can actually write axes that face to that face there right and they should be that should actually be centered so grab middle point here and raise that vertically till it hits a middle point there okay now I'm going to take both of these at the same time and I'm going to move them see how should I do this actually I'm going to spread them out just a little bit and I'm gonna put a line that I can use as reference so that's going to be this middle right here and the middle of this right here should align and that should go straight across without a red line consume not quite lined up somebody's a little bit off oh definitely this one there's my middle point oh it's an endpoint so I actually have this line is broken that's why I was having so many problems there's three end points three middle points in that didn't you hit didn't you line the tops of these up at some point did you move them back down I did so I need to move that back up yeah JDC who you deemed the resident expert the beginning about at this yes so they need be aligned so I'm gonna grab this end this and then I will move it so that my heads a line like that all right now I'm going to grab all these so I have a line plus my two heads I'm going to grab it by the middle of the ooh got a booger all right right there from the middle boys greebles and I'm going to align it right to the middle here see that that dry it lines it up there and then I will drop it down right there and then I will also go rotate I'll get on the red axis on this way and then come out here and rotate those seems like those seem like enormous Tom's are those are that's just gigantic is that reference image like floor tom sizes are you looking back at the one in their thing this 12 by 8 and 13 by 9 yeah so we look like they're realistic sizes they just seem big maybe your base trims too small I need to yeah that's 22 inches JDC said that was the high end yeah somebody is telling me they are those are floor tom sizes yeah that's too much that's too much all right so here's I'm going to do no problem no problem everything's cool we just made two floor toms so what we're gonna do is I'm gonna rotate them back to flat I do over here I'm gonna rotate them I'm gonna and I know these I know these will actually they'll tilt a little bit but yeah and the bottoms won't have heads well I mean the bottoms would have butts right nope I see if I'm right-handed other side so these these will probably tilt in and maybe will actually make them a little bit taller but that look look better and he's actually pointing out that we don't have bottoms on Tom's so it depends on the picture man that's true I like I like to look at the better I'm seeing lots of seen lots options all right well that's someone leave it for right this second all right so right now we're gonna have this you should probably save boom I appreciate it appreciate it my bottoms have buds comments alright so how about a nice so what was the full size of this thing is like at 12 inches so yeah we'd like a we need something like a 7 by 10 let's try that instead come this way 3.5 inches oh that's a totally different size I'm gonna come up 10 inches Oh point 25 this is gonna be a whole different animal right here take this follow me again it's oh that's that seems odd misty small I don't like that I don't like I don't want that I don't want that to be I don't want that to exist all right I'm looking looking looking you're referencing oh I have the numbers backwards ten inch head seven inch height okay let's try this all so I don't know what those things I drew before were they look good all right I did say I don't want this to get too hung up on dimensions so I'm gonna stop looking at them I want something realistic but yeah I'm getting a getting really caught up in the the things I didn't want to get caught up in so it's more about the realistic looking it's really but it's all about the modeling is really what I should say tiny tongue show all right but this is this should be getting quicker and quicker as I do this part I grab this I move it option I stick it right here I come to here I cut this off I grab this I follow me with this I place this now just need a line across there's the middle maple have a single midpoint now that'll be nice yeah look at that so I can grab that lining up with the middle of that line rotate that fall at take that move it ah dang I was pretty close to perfect on that one and now I can tiny Tom divide that back into three pieces move that from here whoops nope just this piece stop it what that's not perpendicular I do like how you've done three drums and they just continue to be different the word is you're looking for is unique yes yes trying to make each of these drums unique I'm what I'm doing right now for those of you some of you may may see this and think that I am I'm making things up but I'm in fact not this is called refinement I'm refining my process anybody buy that it is it is what it is refinement sure but look how much quicker this is going last time I'm there I'm gonna take that rotate that on here from here to here 5x all right and there we go there we have what is actually looks like it could be a small Tom YouTube just gave you now he said refining the process is one of the reasons though that they join us all right which basically sounds to me like I need you to refine more just everybody gets their money's worth I there's no short shorten shortness short shortness of breath I don't I don't even I don't even know what's going on anymore all right so this ended up being so I decided that twelve so that was this it's like hey Richard is requesting a stool sample I'm not I'm not on board all right the bigger Tom this one's gonna go quick question just just just watch this yes see that looks good Reavers faces and make that a new component and we'll call this a we called it tiny Tom which is bit smaller than small Tom so how this would a Major Tom that's been confusing but okay okay [Music] Major Tom shell sure why not all right did I grab this move that from here option drop that right there see process revision I haven't said oops you know while hey save lately always opportunities for improvement all right I'm gonna take come in here and I'm grab this one I'm going to move it from right here option and place it right here oh no you say that's inside this component yes it is but I'm going to when it's placed command X I'm going to exit the component and edit paste in place and I'll go right where it's supposed to be ooh boom ever do any blooms today you did a lot of zé's but yeah I think I've done a fair differences I think this has been an acceptable amount of Louis's say a lot I mean a lot sounds like it's what you do any mess up okay no okay so they're big boobs then the oops - boom ratio is is down is low okay that that's fair the other thing is this is slightly off-center because the sides of that other one are smaller so I'm gonna slide this there you go parallel so that it lines up with the middle I'll do the same thing and grab that pull that out so I think you moved it up yeah okay that's better that was weird all right and then I got a drop that around the different sides YouTube said oops and boom both sound like potty training he's not wrong I'm at time where do boat leave this look this further refinement I'm gonna grab this little chunk of geometry and this togather and go from here option 1 2 3 4 5 X I'll boom that boom all right Major Tom rim and then I'm the same thing I'm just gonna do that and then I went back last week at mr. Jody Gates's recommendation it was good idea and I went through and I cleaned out my extraneous extensions I turned off over 20 extensions because I haven't done that in the last year so that was a good call actually it's only been three months since ketchup 2020 mmm but then I'm I am way ahead of schedule if that's the case nice so Andy was asking if there's only if they're supposed to be eight tensioners but I can't seem to find anything that's a consistent tensioner that is a thing that I will agree with is there's not a civic number they do very well were Tom's appear to have six bigger guys appear to have eight based on our source image and it looks like the base has got like 12 well mine is different then as per usual yeah I I looked for that same same thing I was trying to find exact numbers just mostly so I didn't look too stupid you know a touch of stupid is acceptable but it won't to be too stupid and I could not find that looks like Lauren's beat you to the punch seven minutes ago there's a full kit with dual bases and quad Tom's and extra Tom's and a snare that he modeled and killed up in the last half-hour he did not cite a different source just that it I just see a Sketchup model that is very Sketchup picture there's obviously but I can see looking at this that there is not the actual snare bit on the bottom of his snare so it's not authentic maybe a nice rattle that's right I hope you're gonna model all the chains to make that for yours hey I got I still have curve maker installed so I'm good let me be honest going into this I really was expecting there to be a whole lot of copying scale super fast this is gonna be over in 45 minutes well that was their thing I gotta get least two hours out of this I figured I guess it's that's the beauty in your modeling technique it always takes longer it's I got I got I have a throttle bull modeling process so I'm gonna take this from the center point move it vertical oops my vertical is not vertical to middle there I don't see okay oh yes oh yes all right I'm gonna come back to these guys right here because I'm still leaving this floor toms but I am going to drop the bottoms a bit four inches sounds fair they just they don't look like four Tom's look like well they look like oversized tom toms that somebody didn't know what they were doing maybe made just you I mean drummers they don't you know they don't write songs and they don't design drums I mean go figure this is this is not that they're not the drum playing world is not known for their I don't know I'm going with this how about I save save please get me out of this oh dang that is a lot of stuff yeah I'm not gonna go into a little detail here okay let's let's get it let's get a snare on here that would be that'd be a fun thing to do all right I made snare sizes all right I have what I'm gonna do I'm gonna do this cuz I'm gonna I'm gonna grab do it this drum right here I'm gonna bring it over here either let's get this back just about mooring or back to where everybody got really quiet oh yeah nobody's talking on the on the youtubes anymore Oh JA Brock makes good point you're Neal Pierre will be the the exception to the drummers are so smart rule so there's smart drummers out there all right there's one wait did he just he just passed though didn't he so technically no wow that's a tough crowd all right I believe correct me if I'm wrong but don't I'm gonna make this into a snare but snares have more they have more tension rods than a normal drum oh so now we care about how many tension rods a normal drum has interesting okay do what you want all right thanks Jody all right I want to come in here I'm gonna put a dozen around here because I think yeah so when I posted the picture like a photo of a snare or the parts of the drum it looks like that thing has about a dozen on it all right that's what we will do also there's a snare strainer release there in snare strainer adjustment screw and a snare strainer one could call psmith it also has a butt butt plate still no buttress huh shame misnomer buttress okay Phil Collins is also a drummer they could write songs I mean yeah you could call out on that one I tried to save you I did that I mean I did not hit command as quick enough for you I apologize Jody yeah you know it all fell apart in the middle of the middle of the sentence it's going nowhere fast why am I still talking it happens all right that's what it felt like how's this kind of like wandering right into it words words are still coming they're still happening they're still happening all right I'm going to grab all of these and make them unique because let's see how tall is this right now this is currently eight but I want it like six or four or five five okay so I push this up three inches it looks like it'll work all right and I'm going to come into one of these and I'm going to grab all this goodness right here and move it vertically to right here then I'm gonna grab all of this goodness right here and I'm gonna rotate it a copy the other side like that then I'm gonna grab this guy right here I'm going to rotate that from this point and then one last rotation I got I did not I definitely exploded my circle at some point so there we go that's gonna be most of my snare it's a little chunky or chunky as as Joey likes to say yes a chunky chunky it's it's a chunky boy an absolute unit all right so we got to put a snare holder on here lay in a stand real quick so Lawrence is throwing down drummer jokes even here I don't hear one of them like who wouldn't how many drummers does it take to change a light bulb I would say five are you reading ahead it was a good joke though it was a good joke it was a solid good joke if you're not on youtube so you're not seeing his comment the answer is 5-1 to change the bulb and four to point out that Neil Pierre would have done it better I feel weird saying pure because I always called him Neil Peart but then whenever he just died and I was listening to all the all the different memorial things coming up on the Sirius XM think I'm saying it the wrong way or they kept saying at the right way and my way was the wrong way so now I'm just trying to sound as cool as a disc jockey that's fair what's this thing you're making I'm making is this gonna be your your attention or your strainer no this is my stand leaving details off till a little bit later I'm gonna grab let's say that you grabbed all of that I'm going to come to my tools this is where afraid to put stuff you put stuff under tools and i'ma hit joint push pull and I'm going to thicken that's the wrong one I just joint push pull there we go that gives me a single arm and I'm going to take that and I'm going to rotate it from right here 120 degrees two times that was not what I wanted to do that's the that it's a new design new and innovative I want to rotate that from this point on the flat there you go option one 22 times there we go now we got a little stand there and now I'm gonna do some magic because everything I do from this point on is going to potentially be bull sugar I'm gonna draw a circle on the flat again there's an axis to use something like that grab all that intersect base of a selection make that into a component snare stand and then I can fix all the extra geometry on the inside okay now I'm gonna grab all of this except for the stand-up thirty is beautiful all right so now I'll grab that bring that over right about here ish drop that vertically I guess that this is a where you keep your snare a little bit of a preference thing I'm gonna say right about there and I'm going to middle point right here tilt it just touch and now I want to put probably like a three-legged I want to make us like a tripod base but I want to make it so I can reuse it because I can grab the make this once and I could probably use this on cymbal stands drum stool and this piece right here so I'm going to do is I'm going to come out here actually start I'll start it right here put a circle right at the middle point here on the blue blue AXYZ so have a small piece like this which I'll bring down like that and then I'm going to put a little bit of a collar here pull that down I'll have a second he gets the part the beginning where we confirm that you don't play drums cuz you're a bassist you slapping the bass have you seen have you seen that I Love You Man yeah okay I mean we already talking about rush Hey obviously yeah as a funny movie all right so what I'm thinking I'm gonna do here is kind of come up with a generic tripod shape I don't wanna make all the pieces and make it all adjustable and that kind of thing again that could be a thing maybe in the future that we would we would do too you know because it'd be cool but right now I'm going to make one piece actually before I do that I'm gonna grab that and slide a copy up and then pull Oh JD sees out you're on your own crap see JD see well I guess I'm done all right I don't know what I'm doing right now I'm making stuff up surprise like we've never seen that before I'm kind of thinking something like I make this a group right now and then draw a rectangle right here I'm just getting some reference geometry together actually well that's thing I'll go draw an arc this would be reusable geometry like I said well I'll use this on like a dozen different pieces and then you know I should do is draw a line sticking out right here here are these extra lines here I can take all of that make that into a group real quick put that over there those two together come in and rotate that I point out that one will go up I'm sorry what's that Lawrence's legs all look pretty good on the on the forum post but I'm looking at this post on the forum I have to say that this was definitely not modeled in the last half hour I yeah I would it's an awesome and that that is what most that this stuff looks like and that's it was very well done yeah something like that and then I'm gonna take that make a copy option bring up to here this is where it like I said I am going to make things up for certain but oh no how did that not line up what what do you what do you will wit what [Music] hold up hold up hold up hold up hold up everything's cool everything's cool okay let's try that again now why these two should line up this one oh man everything just fell apart again all right I'm gonna make this easier on myself I'm gonna put this on axes I'm gonna rotate what I have so far for this this piece going to go to the center and I'm going to make the center of this little protrusion I've created Wow I've got some sensitivity in the center point give me the center point there we go and oops rotate it on the flat and grab that middle point and put bring that on axes there we go now it's on the green now what I'm going to do now that I've decided what I'm going to do come over here I'm going to draw a rectangle on the red right here pull that out to here grab this piece bring it over to here just to make this nice and make it look like it's really a thing just a little box detail do that and push that over like that alright now I'm going to grab all of that and I'm going to rotate it grab the middle point here middle point here stick that on the other side like that now I'm going to come in here push this back my own my own personal design I'm working on right here by the way grab all of that cut it come here edit paste in place to make that all part of this this geometry and then while I'm here I might as well just grab all this rotate option 122 X all right and then up here I'm going to grab this face option copy that right here push that through it's not Maxie's that should've okay that thank you again perk of working at home fresh cup of coffee thanks to my wonderful family no one ever brings me coffee at work all right noted I I can hear what you're saying here alright I'm gonna take that click here option this is 122 X alright so this now and I know these two pieces are actually separate but this so this will look okay fairly quickly I think when I come out I'm going to stand this like this extend this like this triple click and I'm gonna actually copy that before I make a component because I want to use that same base geometry on this upper piece but I'm gonna grab all this now make it a component lower leg and then I can take that and rotate it you know what I need to do I need to put all of this into a new component call it a stand and then come in here and then hide everything else all that other stuff is getting in my way alright now I can take this piece rotate it from the center of this I'll rotate up like this make this into a component upper leg a popper leg that's what I said okay all right and then I'll take put these two together and I can rotate those two pieces from the center of the circle take this one all right and then grab all of this well give me a set point please please give me a centre point there we go there option to X yeah there we go and now I'll come in here make this a little bit longer show me everything else cut that and I should only had to just once because all the other pieces are components all right there we go that's gonna be my base for now I gotta do it I gotta clean this up this is this is too much for me this is looking pretty good to me looks just like the drum set here at my house I didn't think that was true all right then I can take this whole thing I'm gonna stick a copy here and maybe a copy here it will eventually support symbols have you have you saved lately yes everybody's everybody's buzzes wearing I'm wearing down been so long listen to the group let's slide all that over we need we need enough room to put in a bass pedal too so I'm going to rotate this stand ever so slightly go I don't know I get confused about that make that it just say I'd make this Pete portion unique no it's not like it's not a I mean that's not gonna work all right so now that I got these out here I do have to make each stand unique because they're made different lengths actually these two could probably be the same so I'll get rid of that one I'll make this one unique come in here modify some geometry a little taller maybe grab this piece on up here make that taller all right I like that like that that's going to work for me one moment more Kurt gotta keep keep the creative juices flowing you drinking coffee mm-hmm you know you should try what's that green stuff kryptonite no no that's not it being very absent yeah you need to drink some absent that supposed to be really good for your creativity hmm isn't that like don't you end up like doing crazy things that sounds pretty judgmental right there I'm be honest okay I've done some of my best driving on absinthe that does not sound right okay I've never had absinthe all right I'm not sure it looks pretty the green is cool looking but I don't have to drink all right I'm gonna do I'm gonna make a cymbal stand right here I'm gonna do my cymbal all in one piece because I'm gonna come over here create a circle right here and I'm just gonna come up and I want to do this all at once cuz I don't want to mess up this a whole bunch so I'm gonna come over here and create the bushing and the cymbal what's what's a good size crash cymbal like 14 inches 14 inches good tool 14 inches that sounds that sounds tiny but you know what do I know I'm working on figuring that out man oh that was good dis sorry oh that was rude I apologize I'm leaving oh yeah you darn it they're typically 14 to 18 inches Hey nailed it but ice is down to 8 inches and up to 24 are manufactured oh holy cow there's a whole chart so a splash would be 6 inches to 12 inches a crash would be 12 to 22 arrived would be 18 to 22 a hi-hat is 12 to 15 and a China I've never heard of the China cymbal is 12 to 22 you're so you're so American so true alright so there's my my curves of my cymbal ooh take that off set it and forget it don't forget it is that who tell me to save now oh yeah sure why not I feel like if I mean if I'm in it to be over here not drawing I need to I need to create like a soundboard you know like on on proper radio show sphere we got slide whistle and I I think it's an opportunity for improvement on the whole system here okay noted noted boom like that alright I'm gonna take that I'm going to soften and smooth oh yeah that's the stuff so what I can tell you about China symbols they're very similar to a splash they have no taper but they're known for having it I mean if this this is in quotes here this is what they say known for having an extremely complex sound I want this anybody but I usually don't think of stuff that you hit with a stick as being complex sounding oh wait there's more to that sentence which is often described as trashy I feel like somebody's got dissed with with naming that a chain that's not nice oh snap okay so apparently what makes a China symbol different than a splash though is that outer edges is upturned okay that makes sense yep all right there we go and I'm gonna grab all that stuff group it together and maybe I'll oh man I didn't I didn't read Andy's full comment he said if you're doing symbols you should save first otherwise you might get a crash I respect that that was well done all right I'm gonna come over here and I have the same I say I just grab my profile moved it over and then I pulled the edge out longer so I get a get a bigger symbol out of this one in fact actually let me just grab all of this oops not I don't need the met grab that and copy that over there for use with my hi-hat cymbals which I need to make in a moment alright so one more follow me soft and smooth that make component this is a ride cymbal let's say about ride cymbals what does it say about ride cymbals oh man so many things they're meant to play steady rhythmic patterns such as straight eighth notes and for rock pop or swing notes or Oh eighth notes for rock pop or swing notes for jazz and blues and crashes are meant or single accents to punctuate key moments in the song drama mm-hmm and here was I just found some guys sitting behind a bunch of stuff just animal style yeah it's that all of the above could be alright so this one shoot gonna make that unique to take all of this and drop it down so transom just said that we've been reported to the Penn SWAT team and then we arriving momentarily and I feel I feel like you really could have done some sort of pun in that sentence and he didn't because we're going they're gonna arrive and punish us oh there you go yeah I agree that was that was a missed opportunity transom yeah being a pundit like that I I'm really surprised that a drumkit modeling session on it of a drumkit is what's really bringing out this kind of next level of funniness it's it's something of I will tell you that it is definitely something I make this one unique I'm gonna come in here and throw right quick well why am i why am I so floating see your wife brings you coffee my wife sends me these these headlines like Boulder County just extended the stay-at-home order through May 8th we're trapped here for another two weeks love you see you soon bye as she drinks for coffee walking out yeah yeah you know I don't want to I don't want to sound negative but here's a negative thing I'm gonna say it's not you I don't I don't I don't see what about anything that's going on makes me feel like we're gonna get out of this sooner rather than later yeah thanks for being a bummer me buzzkill yeah what what what happened how did I copy this one piece over and it got all tilted and to use a technical term caddywhompus alright I'll try this again control C and I come out and it pasted in place slide over I don't know I think we're good now though alright let me take all Collin stepping up and taking credit for all the all this pun business he did Kate no we can't blame him he did kick it off kick drum bass drum kick it's a it's a drum joke it's good John Brock got that one thanks John what John's just going to be my musician backup so I'm just say John likes it if if nobody else gets it ok yeah shut up and model got it all right I'm gonna draw a quick petal on this here hi-hat oops and I'm merging this with yes yeah all right let's get it let's get in context here okay so generally speaking this goes something like this we got a whoops a flat piece right here go ahead and right here I'll take this up also this may not be the prettiest wait no let me makes an absolute statement this won't be the prettiest drumkit but we'll definitely get the point across very versatile faces now I'm not sure if I should indulge in the in the drum jokes that are starting to pop up in the the comments here you'll like feel like that'll just encourage more of it well it's not like we got a whole lot more to do around here Jodi I mean they're not puns they're just jokes so so that's just like making somebody feel bad at their drummer yeah exactly oh but that last one by Lawrence that one's that one's friendly the last one he's just dead before of meter oh no sorry I meant the sheep the drum and a snake fell over but um okay so you missed the one above that and said where did the drummer call his twin daughters and a one and A two you're right I'm insulted how do you know when two drummers at the door he doesn't know when to come in see now we're starting to now we're picking on drummers and that's that's rank you behind that okay so this is my right here this is my super super pit what hey oh well why won't you push pull Oh something's wrong that's why all right we can fix that just cut it off that that offends you cut it off all right so that's going to be my hi-hat well I got I got I got groups four days here I may have gone a little a little group crazy here or oops nope hey no nope there it is so this is the first first request of the day what's that thing in your left hand there I don't even know anymore this right here is my space mouse specifically my space mouse enterprise from 3d connection 3d mouse helps me to move in 3d space without having to use my standard mouse over here it's not a requirement for using Sketchup but it is a nice option a nice way to navigate in 3d space quickly and easily so it is a good thing to have if you do any level of presentation to people or if you excuse me I want to kind of take your 3d modeling to the next level the next level nice nice that sounds so you sound like an ad actually I know let's try enough fat crisper Christa Ryan just called you out for that well I like I said before I get nothing for that I really do believe in it as a product and I'd like it but I have been saying that say twice per stream for about a year and a half now which I'm I'm happy to talk about it I'm happy to say that as many times I need to but yeah I apologize if that ever sounds like an an ad because I just been saying it a lot that's fine that's fine alright I'm gonna do we're getting there we're getting there I'm gonna do a kick drum pedal a stool and that might be that might be us for we might be done let's let's see if mr. Richards put a stool sample up on the forum still don't care for it I'm sorry no instincts kick in the gut some of us they just sort of a they just feed on each other string along I don't know if you guys ever do this but sometimes I will use a face like this just for the purpose of drawing geometry this isn't actually really important where this comes out just wanted to get it aligned with the face somewhere back here so are you are you gonna happen to change the shape of that petal so it looks like a foot or at least vaguely shoe shaped doesn't seem to be that that is the case no all right I mean the only person that knows for sure it's you yeah I'm willing to bet that I don't let's let's see right that sounds like I'll take that bet I bet you will all right well we'll see what happens how much you wanna put on this bit okay I'll take that take you out to lunch next Tuesday oh dang it all right next time we're in the office lunch is on me no no no next Tuesday all right well this is this your huh doesn't mean my hair hat I don't know if this works me I didn't realize that was how they made him oh yeah all the time I'm a big big big guy okay all right take that where's me where's my where's my get my axes together here well small but it'll we're all crap we got some floaties Tom's here I apologize for so so these guys had different legs I don't know if you already if you notice that in the picture they do they have like just like just grow out of three sides yeah so what are we gonna do here make this make this quick and painless if I come in here I'm going to stick a line right across here like this the only reason I'm drawing a line here is not come on man there we go is to have so I know this is on axes and I know that when I come in here to draw a rectangle I can go parallel to that I think there we go and then I'll use that as quadrants basically I'll copy that here and then copy that here copy that copy that pull that out like that and the way the legs gonna work do the same thing for the circle right here and then pull that put it down and then usually the way these legs work is they will come down and they kind of come out like that so that may have rotate that so that comes out to there all right and then I can take these three pieces follow me with that circle there we go and then what I'll do is I'll grab all that and I'm gonna make it a group rather than a component because each of the legs based on the tilt of the drum is actually going to have you're going to be resized but I'll take that geometry from I still don't have that here rotate that 122 X whoa that's not right grab that rotate hold on I don't know what I typed but it wasn't the right number right a around 120 enter 2x there we go so that is what that should look like I'm gonna copy one of these which we'll see I'm gonna come out here and this is where I'm gonna have to adjust it so that they line up with the floor so what I'll do is I will come in grab all of this turn everything on slide that up till my foot meets the floor then come over here do the same thing at this geometry move it down there we go actually looks like look a little heavy tilt but that's okay then come into this one and control V paste that same thing in grab it by the middle point here and align it with a middle point right here we lay that line right up drop that straight down and we will rotate that from milla drumhead option 122 X I did again what did I type who paid attention to I take 12 when I just type 12 right it's let's go Oh actually if I just look over on the YouTube went to my ways we're within time also you called it the YouTube which is yeah now with the youth say just letting you know you talked to twelve I see that I better back min and are and then a queue then 120 and then two times I don't know when how long am I gonna keep doing this I just thought it the twelve rather than 120 was really the only part of cared about okay I appreciate you looking them all right something like that nobody all right this is looking good this is looking good also as we're as we're crashing headlong into the conclusion I do still need some ideas for things I can model I'm looking for an architectural idea if at all possible let me hear what you guys got and I'm going to take this make it unique come in here offset this to make give me a collar I'll set that a lot to give me a stool that may be a little too big so I'm seeing Frank Lloyd Wright wait Andrew wait Lloyd Webber wait which guy is this Frank Lloyd Wright someone mentioned his waterfalls waterfalls are frightened that was somebody somebody like that millennium dome in you in London not familiar with hatchback car oh you live in a car I guess I don't think councils arktech now yeah Miguel's been posting every every seven minutes with a different kind of car he would shoot a model so that's that's unrelated to your question here right I'll be honest I'm all for model another car but we got to mix it up a little bit and I can't I I have done a car in the last four or five weeks so it wasn't good it didn't go well what's so Mabel doing those assumed falling water you know I've had a lot of requests for falling water maybe we should just like the bulletin model I become and also they make a little mini Lego kit for that one they do yeah the Millennium Dome it's just kind of a dome with a bunch of rods sticking up looks like it would be a little from the outside looks like it'd be pretty it'd be a 15-minute build twisted Tower in Malmo I've never heard of the twisted tower and look at this I'm like oh look at that thing it's literally a tower that is twisted the Millennium double things I've done yeah kinda knows no one out still working on it oh that's kind of cool not so the sack rack here in Paris that's all onion dome II would you guys would definitely be a challenge let me throw this out here if we could get some decent drawings would Fallingwater be a fun one to to do the exterior of you guys like that idea it'll put wait a moment wait a moment yeah I know Oh YouTube said there's falling water standing water running water stagnant water you do any of those there's all sound like really bad Indian names I'll be honest well some of them do yeah falling water is pretty neat have you seen a Lego kit for it I have yeah that's pretty cool okay well maybe maybe we'll do that maybe we'll shoot for falling water next next time eat in project I don't need to be tested I don't know what that is should I I don't know I just I thought the the commentary that's it don't that's pretty neat I'd like to go to there what is this plans to go to there well I mean I think the important part is we've kind of got to the end of this I really feel ok so I just got it I'm just gonna I know Tom's are usually open on the outside but they still have rims on the end so depending on the ones you look at they sometimes they have what they call resonant resonance skins or something like that on the bottom because like all these pictures I'm finding the Tom's all the floor toms I'm not seeing anything on the bottom but right that's I've never seen one with it that floor times almost always seem open but all right so let's see if I was to take well I said earlier to John Doherty that you could post links but I'm guessing that didn't work because I don't see a link from him so you lied I feel like I might have lied I can post links but well that means works for me all right I'm gonna take I'm gonna take these pieces that I made right here and I'm gonna make them unique because with the wild stallions logo on the front of the bass drum I got to come in here and show that up a little bit I have to do same thing over here maybe that might just happen okay I'm gonna stick a picture of the logo in the forum probably all right I might appreciate that then maybe I forgot they spelled stallions all wrong - with a Y that's right you ever watch the web a tune homestar runner you're talking to me yeah yes okay yes yes I have quite a bit I always think of that when it when I think of limousine lym bosey een metal idea for heavy metal yeah name yeah back whenever we were still at last software mr. Carter and I would go on to the site and download the SWF files and convert them to mp4 is to rip to CDs so that he could take them home for his wife to watch that was that was the best solution you guys could come up with this was 15 16 years ago so high-speed Internet was no necessarily that widespread and there was no YouTube okay mr. so from that same era this is a completely complete derailment though there was also fence allure films remade old GI Geo yeah let's service announcements that they would do at the end of episodes you guys anybody remember any of this stuff please say yes anybody anybody yes the the GI Joe public service announcements while not family-friendly were some of the most hysterical things I've ever seen in my life they worked they were very good and yeah Homestar Runner all like okay look at this I said if I was to settle into this yeah that could play drums right after I'd already seen it John Doherty is body massage well it's a body massage pork chop sandwiches to stick the logo on the front okay I have a request to a deep in this Tamil that it's looking a little bit too much like on there I agree I grab this oh my go it's we're we were just doing drums today but but in the future we might do a car this isn't this isn't really we're not really equipped to do model a bunch of different things each time they're just doing this one oh you didn't make any drumsticks oh my gosh works never done if you if you have to both your hands and you could have simplified this whole thing and just done it with bongos let's make some bongos and why did I make the bigger one shallow and the shorter one Oh - hi everybody would like for you to make make me unique what are you doing are you doing something that's not unique I'm just moving stuff right now nothing's actually being changed so everything that I'm modifying the only thing I'm modifying is the shell and that is a unique piece so now you know what that this thing alright that'll work alright logo logo let's get in context here shall we alright let's save save oh man that's solid of course so I don't know the wild Lillian's actually ever had a drummer did they were both they were both lead guitarists I am and curious what this new movie is going to have in store for us I imported that as an image it looks like so I'm going to explode that oh did you miss that this near what happened the snare oh yeah you did all right you didn't make your snares not unique oh I pulled the good-good watch now hear me good yeah hold on all right there's too much stuff going on right now too many things all right let's get in here there you go make that unique apparently the Lego falling water is no longer in production and so the only way to get it is to pay somebody way too much money for theirs that does happen they don't they don't keep everything forever it's back in the vault curse you Disney the late Walt yeah all right well yeah that's object-- we should do a session on paper folding sorry I just came across a book titled the Frank Lloyd Wright paper models anyone oh if you're gonna add any color or texture in the if you scroll up Gus Burt Lawrence posted a bunch of great textures you could use for really your drums that European burr walnut yeah only problem I have with this there's words in it there's gonna be words in it maybe we'll just do some bright awesome red it's kind of I'm feeling is just some this just simple keep it keep it pretty keep it simple stupid yeah we can't afford the walnut anyway it's good good good point there big J Gordon yeah what's that oh yeah see that's that's looking like something yeah now simples oh you're on it you're on it all right yeah what's it I went elope you who uses cantaloupe symbols nobody that's that's one of the bright one of a kind man you can't get you can't get this anywhere else yeah try to find cantaloupe symbols out there yeah talk about a unique sound yeah single-use that's right that's a splash cymbal all right that's on that note that's how much I'm gonna do see started with the puns full circle that's how we do that's fun that was cool I don't remember whose idea that was that was actually that request was put in quite a while ago it's been on my list so we've been actually working our way through requests so this will I will save this I will put this up on the warehouse with all of you who are asking for different colors or whatever be my guest you are more than welcome to color it up however you like do it yeah so we are there right now I do want to do a reminder because we do still have our contest going so if you have not seen it I'm going to bring this up show you we have this thing called our finish this house contest so if you aren't already doing it check it out on the forum forums at Sketchup comm there's a simple model you download and turn this shape to once on the screen right now into your own house so it is important what we want to make sure we can do is pick this shape out of the house so no moving these exterior walls this is the part of the house that needs to be identifiable having said that finish the inside landscape it do something unique with the outside that's all good you can just make a conventional come in and put a sloped roof around it you might come in here and I don't know we see with the examples we saw one person made it into a cliffside house the other person Sebastian came in and actually cantilever the roof on the second floor you guys do what you want to do but take this house and make it into something something cool and then post your 3d warehouse link upload through your warehouse post your link and we would love to see what you do so I'm gonna come back next Friday when we come back to do fallingwater we will run through our entries and see what we got that's new and maybe of those maybe next week we'll pick a winner I'm saying winner because it's just kind of ongoing thing for right now but pick the one that we all liked the most on here and we'll see if we can get the person with that entry to tell us a little bit about it the next week so yeah all right I guess I I guess I should get my idea in there you better there get on that maybe yeah so is it okay if you take that model and make it into a scale model inside of a house of your own design that that would constitute resizing the walls so that would not be okay no no mutes make your own real really really big house well house making really really big wouldn't that be scaling the walls to know the other house that's around it so take your normal size house bonheur and then scale a copy down I'll go ahead and say as long as one of those copies stays the original side that'll be okay okay awesome well thank you guys thank you all for hanging out we're launching a little earlier than normal it's only 2:30 this was this is good so yeah enjoy the weekend everybody stay safe and happy and healthy and hopefully see you next week we're gonna do another Q&A on Monday I think so we can hang out then but maybe we should maybe we should think up themes for use q and A's so that they can ask specific questions rather than running into repeats yeah maybe we'll figure that out by Monday yeah or reap or we won't one of the two all right well yeah there's a 100% chance that we'll either do or not do both of those things guaranteed Miguel was asked if there's a deadline for the house it's an ongoing contest right now we're just going to review it every week so get an entry in by a Friday and we'll take a look at it so yeah let me grab a link to that to the house thing yeah throw a link in there it's a good parting note here that's a good way to go out go out on a high note or a note yeah finish this house that's the one all right hate this weird restreamed thing now we're going out with Jody's it worked I see it's showing up now Oh still thinking about it there we go okay so with that note we will call it now so this model I will put this up and link to it in our forum so you can check it out there if you want to grab a copy of it otherwise we're done the week is over go have a wonderful weekend and we will see you next week see you guys bye guys you
