it's sniff it's fnaf without the at it's and with different words it's today we're playing sniff that is not a shorthand for five nights at freddy's friday night funk it's not an animatronic horror game either it's sort of a ddr rip-off apparently uh so this is a game that has been circulating for the last like couple weeks and it's really popular which hey i a good rhythm game i am down for i love me a good rhythm game matthew is actually a beast at at rhythm games in general yeah at rhythm games in general and especially when it comes to ddr style games yeah so basically i've seen you play a rhythm game before this they are i mean there's not really much like the thing is how often are you whipping out ddr these days yeah that's true i've never played ddr let alone because i actually have my mat in the other room i noticed that but the problem is tvs yeah at this point there's it's such a headache to set up ddr in general it just sucks because those games were built with older tvs in mind and so there's like a sink right it needs a re-release but they're like modern systems it does but the problem i think is that the rights issue i think it's just music at this point is such a complicated mess of rights that doing those sorts of big multi-song video games just doesn't make sense financially ubisoft does it with just dance they've been doing it with justice yeah just dance is like the only one that's able to like survive i don't know how to do it i miss the guitar hero days right guitar hero use and maybe it is maybe it just fell out of favor and people just stopped doing it my hot take guitar hero was better when they did covers of the songs instead of using the masters wow i actually liked those first two games a lot better because the covers were unique and cool and cool and then it gave you a sense that you were actually playing the song as opposed to just i'm just instead of just listening to the song i don't disagree with you actually thinking back on that that is i i accept your hot take i cool down your hot take what is i don't know what stephanie's doing with her hands great good job team i was participating we don't have to worry about copyright issues today because this is just really a series of beeps and boops that are set to arrows yeah apparently yeah apparently friday night function has found its its niche by doing copyright neutral music yeah so cool i guess i guess it's a dual edge sword because on one hand it's like ah it's copyright neutral but on the other hand i don't know how catchy i like i haven't appreciate that right let's do it uh let's hop into storyboard let's see what the story of ddr is okay week one week two spooky i like that it's week two but it's spooky month spooky south try again spooky month oh oh it's week two but oh okay track spooky's south but it's spooky month in the upper right corner pico mommy must murder red snow heating simulator wow this is a dark dvr right what is going on i don't know is this a horror is this actually this actually is a horror animatronic game it's just hidden inside of a ddr game right okay so i'm gonna i'm gonna just start it's the animatronic is hidden so i'm going to uh start with the tutorial just because why not yeah i'm also keeping it on normal just because i i will say i'm better with foot pads like i didn't play these games with keyboard and arrows and stuff back in the day so it's one of those things where oh you gotta be sick i thank you yeah that's a good thing unless it's 20 20 in which case getting sick it's not a good thing oh all these arrows are getting sick oh please cover your mouth sick arrows i'm concerned about your well-being no one in this game is wearing a mask and i find that frankly appalling final boss screenpop that they just said oh it was a prank isn't that what isn't that what earthbound did to hackers of earth clown wait what i don't know this story yeah so there's i found earthbound is full of a lot of anti-piracy things i had no idea i didn't know they had a lot of anti-piracy measures back then yeah so apparently it's full of a lot of anti-piracy measures but the last one well that's diagnosis is that that's around the time of that like really creepy sonic cd pirates so how did you get this pirate so anyway if you get to the end of earthbound like right before you enter the final cave to the final boss apparently the game like shuts down or has a splat basically you cannot enter the final cave for the final boss so you can actually never beat it and so yeah it's like the ultimate kind of like you said it's all a prank that sucks ooh this is definitely getting harder oh okay a little bit faster okay there's that one [Music] you're still doing really well i think i think for a little bit for this up for the first time that you're doing really well also never hearing these songs and the beats are kind of complicated yeah it is weird like they're not following typical you know like song melodies that's just kind of all over the place that seems like one of the interesting things about writing music for a game like this is that you can't really rely on repetition right no that would be a cool like songwriting experiment uh writing something that would work as a rhythm game song see like i'm having to rely more on just like that's cool i like that know what i miss and this is going way back when i was a kid in like the late 90s to early 2000s they made reese's to go which were essentially like milk duds but were they not to go before well they were you know how a milk dud is like chop just a chocolate ball yeah it was a reese's that and so it was like the size of those like miniature reese's cups that they make now but it was a perfectly smooth chocolate round ball but how was the chocolate to peanut butter ratio because i thought it was i thought it was really good and the fact that it's not ridged like uh like a cup gave it a different consistency that was really good and they haven't made them since i was like five so and i miss them so much right every once in a while there's like a really really good candy that just doesn't catch on and what and what sucks is when something you grew up with comes back and it's not as good like when i first had a new wonderball oh wait what's up oh a wonderball oh my gosh i do remember those were way back yeah wow that was another one that was candy on the outside and then a toy in the middle when i had first when i was first getting them they had switched anything candid i picture you in one of those like stereotypical movie nightmares where like a giant freddy fazbear just comes up from the ground it's like figure out the lore match then you like like he so ryder anyway you were saying earlier but this is some sort of music type that you recognize or like well it's hyper bop or something i don't i don't think this music is technically what's called hyper pop but the the sound of the voice which is just a very high-pitched auto-tune thing reminds me of this genre called hyper pop which is just you know poppiness and synthesizers and auto-tune To be fair to Steph and Ryder, the first 4 weeks had beep bops instead of lyrics so they probably weren't expecting that to change. Also, it seems like there's not so much lore as much as the entire plot is simply: "The guy rap battles the girl's family for respect, and sometimes weird monsters because why not".

Also also, it'd be hilarious if the team just starts giving Mat games with surprise FNAF references. DDLC mod? Sudden FNAF section in it (actually there is one of those...). Continuing At Dead of Night? Jimmy gets replaced by an animatronic (... it could happen!). Super RubberRoss World? Okay, I'm pretty sure there's no FNAF levels in that, but I'm pretty sure there are some FNAF levels in Mario Maker 2...
