Let's Go (TAKE SOME RISKS) - Powerful Sermon | Dr. Marcus D. Cosby (2019)

beginning at verse 22 i'm reading from the new international version of the holy word of god and this is what it says immediately jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side that's enough amen praise god for his holy word you may be seated in the presence of the lord immediately jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side go go on ahead of him to go on i want to talk tonight from the subject let's go let's go let's go i can't remember exactly when it was what year it was how old i was but i remember as a child hearing a quote from a baptist minister and missionary of a long-ago generation his name is william and william says in his penned letters expect great things from god attempt great things for god william carey says that and when he does he writes to brothers and sisters who are believers in the lord jesus christ and he said one thing that each of us should do if we're going to call ourselves disciples of jesus christ followers of the lord god almighty it should be our lot in life to expect great things from god and then attempt great things for god tonight my brothers and sisters as we embark upon 2020 as we are now simply 57 minutes away from a new experience a new year as we stand on the precipice of a new new decade and a new opportunity i submit tonight that every one of us in church should expect great things from god and should attempt great things for god it's not enough for god to do all the work at some point in time you have to move to doing some things for god is there anybody in here who wants to do something for the one who does everything for you matthew chapter 14 the lord jesus has just finished with that miraculous experience of feeding the multitude when we open up verse 22 we are just leaving the scene when the lord jesus has dis gets ready to dismiss a crowd that he has just fed with five barley loaves and two small fish five thousand men not counting women and children have been blessed by a meager lads lunch that has been given to the lord jesus and as he took that lunch from that boy the bible says he gave thanks for it and when he gave thanks for it he broke it he gave it to the disciples who gave it to the men who were sitting down and the women and the children likewise were able to fare sumptuously because when the lord works miracles in your life he proves to you that he is able to do things that no one else is able to do somebody in church has found him to be a provider in 2019 when you didn't know how things were going to go for you and you didn't know how things were going to work out some kind of way when you put it in the lord's hands he was miraculously able to do for you what you could not do for yourself which is why the apostle paul had to in his doxological statement say now unto him who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we can ask or think the god we serve is well able to supply all of your need that's what he does for those brothers and sisters in the preceding verses of the text tonight in 21 and upward he says to them that i can take care of every one of your needs that's what jesus does he proves to them that he is able to supply able to provide able to be the one who takes care of his own now brothers and sisters when that takes place the bible says immediately thereafter the lord jesus tells his disciples these 12 men whom he's hand-picked to follow him and to listen to him and learn from him he tells them to get into a boat and leave the east bank of the sea of galilee and make their way to the west bank of galilee it's been a long day the day started at matthew 14 when he got some bad news about the beheading of his beloved brother and friend john the baptist john the baptist had been in beheaded and as a consequence jesus went into a solitary place to pray he decided he needed to get alone with the father so he could recover and regroup after having his heart broken by the news of the beheading of his friend don't you fool yourself grief can wear you out to the point that you need to get away with the father have some quiet time with him the old saints say enter into your secret closet and have a little talk with the lord that's what jesus does he goes to the father and he prays in that mountainous region that solitary place and then he feeds the five thousand and immediately thereafter that's the first word of verse 22 immediately thereafter he sends the disciples on their way in a boat he says let's go i want you to go to a place that i will meet you at in a little while he does not go with them no after he has fed the five thousand he dismisses them and then he has another prayer meeting with the father he goes again to a mountainous region he talks to god i submit tonight if jesus has to do that much talking to god how much more should you and i be talking to god if jesus has consistent family time consistent communion with the father how much more should you and i have consistent communion with the father that's what jesus does he begins to pray he prays for an extended period of time and by the time he finishes praying your bible says that the disciples who are in the boat have now found themselves in a stormy sea they are on a stormy sea dealing with the reality that a tempestuous storm has arisen on that sea and your bible says that the winds are blowing against that boat and the waves are beating against that boat and now these brothers are frightened because they don't know how things are going to go i need to tell you and it's not one of those clear placid days no as a matter of fact your bible says that by the time we pick up with those brothers they are in the fourth watch of the night now for those who are not seafarers for those who are not mariners you may not know what the fourth watch of the night is but mariners in antiquity divided the night time into four watches the first watch was from six to nine pm the second watch was from nine to midnight the third watch was from midnight to three am and the fourth watch of the night was from three to six am they are now in the latest and darkest time of the night and in that latest and darkest time a storm has risen upon the sea it's beating the boat can you imagine how they must be feeling in this latest and darkest time of the night when they do not have the accoutrements of life that you and i enjoy those who like to go sit fishing and sailing you have some accoutrements on your boat that these boys didn't have that day and they are now in that space where they are frightened by the circumstances although some of them are professional fishermen they can't do anything about the fact that the waves are beating against that ship that the wind is so tempetuous that they cannot control how that ship is moving scholars suggest brothers and sisters that this storm tossed sea that is beating against the boat is emblematic symbolic of the church of the lord jesus christ that the church has been sent into some topsy-turvy times that the church has been sent into some tempestuous seasons and it is the church that has to show that we can survive the storm even when storms are raging all around us oh and let's be clear the faithful have their times with storms even right now as we look at the spiritual landscape of our time there are brothers and sisters in our religious communities who are suffering storms even right now if you've been watching the news you found out that uh saturday night while our jewish brothers and sisters were celebrating their high season called hanukkah they were at the rabbi's house and some deranged demented anti-semite went into the house and began stabbing jewish brothers and sisters because their spiritual storms through which we have to go oh if that's not good enough fast forward to the next day sunday morning our brothers and sisters right outside of fort worth texas we're dealing with the reality that while they were worshiping some deranged demented brother walks in there pulls out a gun and begins to shoot killing people while worship was going on don't you fool yourself just cause you spiritual and love the lord does not mean that storms won't show up in your life can i find somebody in church tonight who can testify man i know what you're talking about i'm going through a storm right now don't you fool yourself just cause you shouting in church tonight don't mean that some storm ain't gonna follow you from 19 to 20. somebody needs to understand that's why you got to know jesus because storms show up storms show up and just as it is in the spiritual such we have seen in the national the national landscape of our time proves to us that storms show up if you look at the national landscape of our time it looks like those who have been elected to serve us have absolutely lost their minds and they are so much more concerned about partisan politics than they are about serving the people who elected them to their positions we've got a national storm your bible says that the wind was against that boat has the wind ever been against the boat of your life here we are dealing with spiritual storms and national storms and if you're not careful you'll be able to testify like one preacher they're international storms one preacher who happens to be the pope he says that there is a globalization of insensitivity a globalization of people who are looking at other people and calling them other than what they really are we've got hatred and violence and nonsensical activity on the rise narcissism in the white house while we're dealing with sexism and racism and ageism and classism in many other houses across our nation somebody in here ought to testify storms have shown up the waves are beating the wind was against us and let's not just stay in the national the international or the spiritual somebody here can testify in your own personal life you know what it means to have some waves beating against your boat somebody tonight can testify storms show up you cannot enact inoculate yourself from storms simply because you come to church i dare not be a false prophet and tell you that because we just had a wonderful praise party at the wheeler have a new church that you gonna go into 2020 and nothing's going to bother you nothing's going to get on your nerves nothing's gonna challenge you i can't tell you you're not gonna find yourself having some difficulty before january is over or before we get to watch night 22 2020 but somebody in here can help me preach and justify when you know jesus the good news about knowing jesus is that even when you're in the midst of a storm jesus knows how to show up right where the storm is going on oh i wish i had 10 people right up there in that section who can testify he will show up even in the midst of your storm that's what jesus does the bible says somewhere between 3 and 6 a.m jesus shows up and i like jesus he does not show up in a boat no no he does not show up making his way on some motorized vehicle that can handle the winds and the waves no jesus is so much of a wonderful savior he wants to prove that he can control even that which seems uncontrollable he wants to prove that he can walk on what other folks sing in he says i'm walking toward my children he comes to them walking on the water you've got to understand child of god that brothers and sisters in antiquity understood the water to be chaotic and monstrous and torturous and they got nervous because the water would always engulf anybody who tried to conquer it but jesus has to prove that he is the god who can conquer the unconquerable he is the god who can control the uncontrollable where is somebody in this church tonight who thought for sure your light was spiraling out of control but some kind of way jesus showed up and proved that he can handle every situation that shows up in your life there he is he comes walking on the water and when he walks on the water toward those boys your bible says that they get nervous they get terrified they think it is a ghost that's interesting i can deal with that later but they think it is a ghost to which jesus has to respond be of good cheer it is i be not afraid okay you missed your opportunity at least not an amen because somebody in here has been in some terrifying situations in your life and jesus had to show up in the midst of your terrifying moments and say calm yourself down go sit yourself down somewhere get down off that ledge it is i be not afraid is there anybody in here who's ever had jesus calm you down anybody ever tell jesus tell you go sit in time out for a minute i got this be not afraid it is i i like that scholar suggests i told the one o'clock service a few weeks ago there are scholars who suggest that words be not afraid or fear not are written 365 times in the scripture to prove to us that every single day of the year god is telling us quit tripping stop stressing don't be afraid i got you i'm talking to somebody in here who came in here bad bearing your baggage and you worried about how you know where you gonna handle 20 20. i came in here to tell you that every day of the year your god is saying if you trust me like you say you do if you do all that shouting like you did in the last hour if you do all that singing about me be not afraid it is i fear not if you know i love the church family i love it 365 times in the scriptures the writing says fear not now i need to go ahead and tell you 2020 is a leap year [Applause] we've got 365 times in the scripture but we got 366 days next year and i need to tell you one of them days you're just gonna have to trust him you're gonna have to just believe that if he said it he's gonna do it you just got to believe that if he said it he's gonna work it out can i find some believers in this church who can testify even if i don't hear it because i know he said it that's good enough for me here we go here we go the bible says jesus comes walking to him on the water and he says be not afraid it's me i got you i got here i am i told you i was coming i'd have to show up the way you expected me to show up i'm here and then g peter says hey jesus if that's you like you say it is tell me to come out there on that water i want to conquer some stuff too i'm tired of everything conquering me all the days of my life it's time for me to conquer some stuff too i wish i had somebody in church tonight who said i'm not going into 2020 with everything conquering me i'm going in there believing i'm more than a conqueror through him who loves me if that's you tell me to come out there watch what jesus said come on don't talk me to death you bad be bad come on out here [Applause] the bible says that now peter gets out the boat and starts walking on water child of god i like this jesus says come on which literary in my mind says let's go show me that you're ready to walk show me that you're ready to do something show me that you're ready to attempt great things for god i submit tonight child of god if you and i are going to go to the next level go to where god is calling us do what god is calling us to do they're going to be some days in 2020 when you have to dare yourself to take some risks what happened to all the main man's i just heard a few minutes ago i said if you're going to go into 2020 with a new attitude and you're going to be able to conquer some things that have been conquering you i submit tonight that you and i have to dare ourselves to take some risks how much peter have looked to the disciples in the boat when he getting out the boat walking on water had to look some kind of strange to those brothers as he's getting out of the boat walking over did i mention the winds were against him [Applause] and if that wasn't bad enough now his friends aren't going with him and i guess i need to tell somebody as you go into 2020 they're gonna be some days where the winds are against you and they're gonna be some days where your friends ain't with you don't you don't you fool yourself stop being so co-dependent on everybody that you always need somebody patting you on the back telling you go ahead boo i'm coming with you no some stuff you have to learn in the crucible of isolation some stuff you got to learn all by yourself sometimes you got to go through and everybody is going to sit on the sidelines to see if you make it [Applause] no no no be going by himself he gets out of that boat and he takes a risk my word to somebody sitting at wheeler avenue baptist church tonight is that in 2020 you and i are gonna have to learn to stop being so comfortable and complacent you are now gonna have to learn to take some risks somebody say take a risk look at somebody close to you say take a risk say that man talking to you take a risk yeah take a risk my my child and i my children my daughters my granddaughters and i were riding in the car together last night we ride in the car together last night and my child i'm i'm sitting in the back seat adrian's driving oldest child driving and a second oldest ashley is sitting in the passenger seat i'm sitting in the back seat and i found out something last night you you feel some things differently when you're sitting in the back seat you experience the drive a little differently when you're sitting in the back seat i'm sitting in the back seat holding stuff clutching stuff i'm like oh jesus come on jesus do it jesus do it jesus i'm back there one and i saw i said to adrian i said sweetheart um um you sure are a risky driver to wish this joker said back to me daddy life is risky [Music] all right now she the theologian in the house life life is risky i said okay that's fine you take risks with your life don't take risks with mine and sure don't take them in my car [Applause] but i learned something from the little girl that if you're going to live this life it's not always going to be comfortable it's not always going to be convenient sometimes you got to deal with the tumultuous chaotic stuff and you got to take some risk to overcome it that's my word to somebody in this church tonight we're getting off the sidelines in 2020 we're not just gonna keep on doing things the way they've always been done in 2020 we're not just gonna be comfortable watching everybody else survive while we just trying to inch by we're not going to be comfortable watching everybody else thrive while we sit in this and i wonder what would happen if i tried what she tried i wonder what would happen if i did what they did i need somebody in here to take some risks if you know you're supposed to write the book get to writing write the book if you know you're supposed to start the business start the business if you know you're supposed to get back in the gym and get yourself together get yourself together if you know you're supposed to go back to school and get the degree get the degree if you know usually have that difficult conversation have the conversation if you know you need to ask the woman out man go ahead and ask her out take a risk the worst thing she could say is no and god got more potions you can check out at risk okay all right all right i submit the night child of god and you and i have to learn to take some risks come here come here what would have happened if rosa and sejourna and harriet hadn't taken a risk where would we be if martin and mandela and malcolm and marcus garvey hadn't taken a risk what would our lives be like if sarah and ruth and esther and naomi and rahab and elizabeth and mary hadn't taken a risk where would you and i be if joseph and jairus and jesus hadn't taken a risk on folk like you and me can i find 10 people in here who can testify if jesus can take a risk for me i'll take a risk for him here it is child of god you and i have to dare ourselves to take some risks said i take my time tonight y'all got somewhere to go before midnight okay let's watch let me get a second point too i know you got somebody to go after midnight i wonder if you got somewhere to go before midnight i just i just wanna make sure if you're gonna stay here with me cuz i got two more points and i feel like preaching all of it wake your view partner up say that man preaching to you you better not miss this [Applause] i submit that you have to dare yourself to take some risks can i push it i submit in the second place child of god that there will be some seasons in our lives where you and i must not only dare to take some risks but there's going to be some times that we must we must never let ourselves forget our references okay i'm gonna try to explain in a minute i'm gonna explain it but we can never let ourselves forget our references now now peter gets out the boat and when he gets out the boat your bible says he starts walking on the water toward jesus okay that's reason to put a smile on your face he starts walking on the water toward jesus that which should have been controlling him he is now controlling that we should have conquered him he is now conquering jesus said let's go the man started walking he started walking on the water and he's walking toward jesus and then your bible says he saw the wind and when he saw the wind he started to sink lord have mercy bible says he saw the wind and when he saw the wind he started to sink now now this this has been preached many times for many years across the eons of the years and i've heard preachers several times preachers who have said that because he took his eyes off jesus he started to sink i'll admit it i probably said the same thing when i preached this before he took his eyes off jesus and he started to say that makes sense that sounds good but that ain't what the bible says the bible says he saw the wind now you got to ask yourself how in the world you see the wind i don't know all i know is the bible says he saw the wind and when he saw the wind he started to sink he got distracted i need to tell you everything is not going to be favorable everything is not going to always be friendly towards you everybody will be friendly towards you but in the midst of unfavorability in the midst of unfriendliness you still have to maintain your focus [Applause] he started watching the wind and we started watching the wind and remembered how torturous wind can be he started to sink he realized wind can sometimes sway you in ways you didn't plan to go and he started to sink he got distracted and the distractions caused him to stop walking and he started sinking what would have happened if he had just kept walking toward jesus [Applause] what would have happened if he had been so focused that he did not stop the process that jesus called him to what would have happened if he had just kept doing what he knew he was assigned to do how many times have we gotten distracted by some other stuff we saw and it pulled us in the wrong direction and as a consequence we started sinking when we should have been walking toward the goal that the lord had charted out for us [Applause] bible says he started to sink ah there are people in church tonight who know what that feeling is like you don't have to testify about it because i know you want your pew partner to think that you were the perfect christian in 2019 but there's some people in church right now who got distracted in 2019 and the goal you were supposed to be walking toward did not get attained because you started sinking as a consequence of destruction [Applause] but i got some good news the good news is peter knew what to do when he started sinking peter didn't lose all his faculties when he started sinking peter didn't stop working on walk we're talking to jesus when he started singing as a matter of fact the bible says he opened up his mouth and said lord save me oh brothers and sisters i can't tell you how excited i am to report tonight that when you learn how to open up your mouth and begin to talk to your savior in the midst of your sinking situation we have a jesus who loves us so much that he will not let us keep going down he will reach out his hand lift us up and save us is there a witness in church tonight who can testify i was sinking deep in sin far from the peaceful shore but love lifted me when nothing else could help love lifted me there will be some seasons in 2020. where you are going to have to open up your mouth and say lord save me you may as well highlight that in your bible you may as well write that down and put it in your notepad on your phone write that and stick it on your refrigerator those three words just might get you out of some hell you can't get yourself out of it in 2020. i'm trying to help you before you get in there i need you to help help somebody on your pew and tell them when you start seeking just start shouting lord save me anybody in here ever have to do that anybody ever have to call on him anybody ever have to ask him to come get you out of what you were in and the good news is there's some witnesses in church tonight who can testify when you call on him he will answer and he'll work things out for your good lord save me the bible says jesus reached out his hand lifted him up and now they're walking together okay church folk don't know any shout out oh okay let's act like it's 11 30 a.m i said that when jesus reached out his hand he lifted him up and they both started walking toward the boat that the lord jesus loves you so much that when he lifts you up he starts walking with you to let you know you ain't got to handle this thing by yourself i got you man i got you i got you where's the person in here who can testify he walks with me okay and he talks with me anybody and he tells me that i'm his own and the joy we share okay as we tell you that none other has never known but now listen he has to he has to tighten peter up a little bit before this hell happens he has to tighten him up he says listen oh ye of little faith why did you doubt why did you doubt he says you have little faith why did you doubt now before you come down too harshly on him you gotta understand what these phrases mean he says ye of little faith notice he did not say you have no faith he says you have little faith now now jesus loves the fact that if you have any modicum of faith that that kind of faith can move mountains so he he says he of little faith little faith this word the greek word literally means that he had he had he had some faith but he just didn't have enough to keep on walking it is it is literally an ad mixture of courage and anxiety okay i need to talk to the christians tonight who understand that there are some seasons in your life you believe god but at the same time you got a little anxiety as to whether or not this thing is really going to work out you you said god i want to do what you told me to do i'm going to come on out there and get out there but i got it is this really going to work am i really going to make it is this thing going to really survive am i really gonna be able to handle this whole thing is this gonna work for real for real i mean i don't know i'm just not so sure that you know it didn't work for my mama and it didn't work the last time i saw somebody else try it and i don't know if this small business thing is gonna work because it always seems like folks get in there they're in there for a year and then it falls i want to know do i really have victory courage and anxiety courage and anxiety you ever been there courage and anxiety that that brother who was the father of that demon-possessed boy he said listen here lord i believe but you got to help my unbelief help my unbelief and that's where we are oftentimes he says you a little faith why did you doubt this word doubt is a unique word is distaso it does not mean that you didn't believe at all it meant that you added some disbelief in the midst of your belief he says why did it it literally means vacillation not skepticism vacillation that i'm on again come on help me preach my sermon y'all read my notes what happened i'm on again off again i believe for a season and then i waver after that i'm gung-ho i'm in my ministry for two months of the year and every three months i stay at home sulking and i don't want to be a part of anything i come to church i'm the first person in the seat i'm the first person in the sanctuary some month some some months but then the other months i'm like i don't feel like it this thing ain't working for me i gave my tithe and i thought for sure i was gonna get a whole bunch of money back and it didn't work the way i thought it was gonna work you're wavering you're vacillating my mama say you're some timey [Applause] you have been sometime in your walk with god all of us have had those moments where we vacillate but then jesus walks with him to the boat i'm almost done with the message can i have seven more minutes okay he walks with peter to the boat they get in the boat and when they get in the boat your bible says the wind died down he said i just wanted to know how much could you trust me when the storm was raging well you're really going to flip out when the winds were howling how much do you trust me when the sea is not calm anybody can shout when your body is feeling good and your bank account is full and anybody can worship when everybody in your household is doing well the question is when the bottom drops out and the winds are blowing can you still say lord i believe he says listen he says listen he says listen i wanted to know if you could believe me in unbelievable times because i wasn't out here with you the first part of the night i didn't show up until you thought it was too late you thought it was too dark i showed up you didn't even believe it was me only one out of 12 of y'all can trust me enough to come walking on the wall and now when he gets in the boat the wind dies down and the bible says that all of the disciples started worshiping him and said truly you are the son of god i'm almost done all the disciples started worshiping him saying truly you are the son of god i i submit tonight my brothers and sisters that you and i have to dedicate ourselves to divine reverence i'm done with the message when i tell you we have to dedicate ourselves to divine reference that's what these boys do they start worshiping the lord they bow down and they worship and they say truly you are the son of god now can i be honest can i be transparent i need to be transparent with you when i read this i had some issue with the fellas i had some issues with them because i felt that they shouldn't have had to wait until jesus got in the boat and the water calmed down for them to start worshiping i said they should have been worshiping when he said be not afraid it is out they should have been worshipping when he started walking toward them but they waited till the wind died down and he was in the boat for them to start worshiping i came down hard on the brothers i took issue with the brothers and the holy ghost had to convict me while i was preparing this message he said what you what you coming down hard on them for you've done the same thing with your preaching self with your holy ghost-filled self you've done the same thing you waited to see how it was going to turn out before you started worshiping me the way you were supposed to you waited to see if the bill was gonna get paid you waited to see if the test would be returned favorably you waited to see if everything was gonna pan out before you started worshiping and there has to come a time in every one of our lives when we have to get convicted and say i'm guilty too [Applause] he said no all of us have done that i thought it was delayed worship i'll tell you i thought it was delayed worship holy ghost said no it's not delayed worship it's worship based on deliverance cause when you've been delivered by the lord i'm done when the lord has brought you through some stuff you didn't think you were gonna get yourself through you can't help but bow down and worship him now i got four four or five people in every section tonight who can help me celebrate the fact that sometime you thought you weren't gonna make it through 2019 there were some seasons you thought the water was getting in above your head but aren't you glad that on a night like tonight you could come into this place and with 19 minutes left in the year you can go ahead and worship god because it didn't take you out oh my goodness child of god i need somebody in here who is grateful that whatever happened to you in the last chapters and scenes and years of your life did not take you out and i need you to worship on the last night of 2020 and 2019 because the lord has done some things for you that you could not have done for yourself is there a worshiper in this church this evening who can help me give some reverence to god because you recognize that god did not have to bring you through he did not have to pull you out he did not have to calm the waves he did not have to calm the wind but because he did you just may as well worship but wait there may be somebody in church tonight who has still have to deal with some winds howling and some storms turning in your life and i came tonight to tell you you're in good company tonight because you're surrounded by some brothers and sisters who will help you worship until worship gets a hold of you i need somebody in here who doesn't mind worshiping for your sister or brother on the other side they may not feel like it right now but if you know that god is still worthy of worship i wish i had 10 or 12 people in every section to help me celebrate a god who still works miracles in the lives of his children [Music] [Applause] i got to get out of here but i need two or three people in here who are ready to cross over into 2020 but before you get there you're going to give god some worship in 2019 for every mountain he brought you over for every valley he's seen you through for every blessing i wish you'd give him a hallelujah somebody ought to say for this i give you praise is there a worshiper in the house tonight who can thank god that whatever you went through in 19 even if it's going into 2020 it didn't take you out you still here so let the redeemed of god give god glory i need somebody who's ready to go to the next phase of your life i need somebody who's ready to make your way into 2020 to look towards somebody on your road and say let's go i don't know what's going to happen in 2020 but i believe we've got a god who is calling us to another level who is calling us to another dimension look back at your pew partner and say let's go i refuse to leave you by here by yourself i refuse to let us go into 2020 and you still suck it about 2017. i refuse to let you go into 2020 and you still mad about 1995. let's go for getting those things which are behind and reaching forth to those things which are before i pray for the mark for the high calling of god in christ jesus let's go i don't know what god has in store for us but since i know that he has plans for us plans to prosper us and not to harm us to give us a future and a hope let's go i don't know what 2020 is gonna bring but since i know god is saying come on i'm getting out the boat tonight and i'm gonna start walking toward that man formula i came here to tell you get out the boat i came in here to tell you take some risks i came here to tell you that you need to remember your reference points if peter had remembered his references he would remember that just a few hours ago jesus just turned bread and fish into a buffet for brothers and sisters who needed to eat he's a provider he can handle your stuff but even more than that in matthew chapter 8 they had already been in a storm you remember that that's the place where jesus said peace be still they've already seen him calm the raging sea they've already seen him speak peace in the midst of tumult and they're not the only ones we've already seen him make ways out of no way we've already seen him turn situations around we've already seen him supply our needs and if he did it before he can do it again [Music] same god right now same god back then that's the word for somebody heading into 2020 release yourself from everything that's held you captive and hostage in the past years of your life i said release yourself from everything that has held you captive and hostage over the past years of your life and let's go to where god says he wants us to go and you need to know already he's not going to give you the full map before you get out the boat he just says come on come on come on and if you have enough faith to come on he has enough power that even when you're sinking to save you and then accompany you to the place he wants you to go that's the love of the lord jesus christ and i thank god for it i feel
