Korean Airlines BUSINESS CLASS FOOD REVIEW New York to Seoul | What You NEED to Know!

[Music] two more days before i leave for south korea this is crunch time i'm gonna give you guys an inside look what it's like to prepare for a trip it's gonna get insane [Music] one of my new favorite citron places in flushing lucky chance they actually came by told me i ordered too much i got excited i would have liked eight dishes for 300 i never had their duck here that's really good juicy crispy skim oh that's a delicious rose duck and skin in particular look how nice oily and toasty that skin is oh yeah there we go fatty beef [Music] peppercorn chilies fatty pieces of beef sitting on bamboo that's great but that duck surprisingly good oh this is a good piece too hmm that's the best stuff i had in flushing skin fat meat flavor especially the skin i i haven't found one with skin dab crisp before that's almost like peeking duck skin they didn't have any kanji but sophie wanted kanji so what'd you do tell them what'd you dip i got hot water and i put it in the rice that's how asians handle these things citron spicy beef tendon clay pot look how meaty this is oh yeah a lot of chili peppers in here it looks good it smells good that's delicious bite of that beef reminds me of top gun there's no tenderness in your fingertips because it's all right here all that tenderness all right here hmm it's nummy it's spicy probably one of the best dishes i've had here i really like this trump place so far it's not famous enough where like it's packed all the time yeah i told him to put the veggies kind of far away from me sophie can have it but so far this place is not as famous yet so there's no line i mean that's gonna change eventually but before it does come here and try this stuff [Music] this is actually a wrong dish i didn't mean to water this it's jumbo shrimp like it's a sweet sour jumbo shrimp which i should really like me eat the whole thing legs are like little shrimp chips i'm actually good this next time i thought it's gonna be like covered in sweet sour sauce not that sweet great flavor fantastic shrimp i'm trying to eat like all the food i can that i don't think i can find in korea i don't remember if i found this trumpet over there i don't think i did i'm gonna say say goodbye to my beautiful little pup before i leave come come here come to daddy you miss me you miss me you miss me i miss you i miss you i don't miss many things when i go on shirts but i miss this little dog hi baby see in a couple months just got home and now begins the most dreaded part of the whole entire getting ready to leave process sorting out my fridge and packing let's do the fridge first just taking inventory of what i have to eat tonight kimchi eggs green peppers and apparently half a watermelon doable food is done i don't know if you notice i got a little plumper a little juicier from the watermelon now again packings i typically bring one suitcase with me one big suitcase but because i'm going for like two months i probably need two so one large one one medium-sized one this is the medium-sized one that i brought from seattle it's not even unpacked yet because after kovis started i realized i got a lot more stuff i'm packing now mainly vitamins all right let's start fresh this is all the kovis stuff it's so crazy how the stuff i i'm bringing on trips is completely changed now like i have to bring so many wipes and hand sanitizers and masks and vitamins and also i have to bring things for the quarantine so the two recordings i gotta work out pull up bar workout bands it's about nine o'clock at night here's the progress i made on packing zero i had to work out and then do some work and then i remember i had a interview with gq in one hour so i need to go set up for that it's gonna be interview over zoom but i'm gonna film it with this camera as well i need to get a light not too bad [Music] i get a haircut alright next up chinatown it's just kind of funny now that before going to a bank and asking for money i gotta put on a mask first usually they don't like that [Music] finish with the bank we're here getting breakfast i gotta eat as much as i can because for the next two weeks while in korea it's gonna be quarantined food which is not gonna be that good so today tomorrow much as i can going in here breakfast number one will be rice noodle this one's really good to make fire on the spot [Music] rice noodles in the morning the cantonese way [Music] that's pretty good it's a spring onion it was very nice very nice touch mouth feels great good pick guys good pick can't find this in korea hong kong realty sad i can't go back to hong kong anymore all right breakfast number two let's go get some clay pot rice all right breakfast number two here at noodle village my favorite place for clay pot these restaurants give you fish skin chips there's a little stale tiny but still it's probably been around for like days so good but tiny dab if you ever feel empty inside go to one of these hong kong places hong kong guterres on these kanto places and get yourself some inners so you know you don't feel so empty that tastes like a meaty sponge i think this is liver wow this is very liberating level up before you take a bite out of this i have to summon all my chinese-ness to uh enjoy this is like a liver sponge you really have to get used to that oh this is one of those things where you take about this and then you take it by the actual stomach and you breathe a sigh of relief [Music] bouncy shrimp noodles are great i love wonton man the noodles soak up the broth so usually because they're just the thinnest noodles you got to have that nice crunch of spring onion which this soup does have great shrimp flavor good ones on noodles oh yeah oh i forgot about the broccoli [Music] that's the best part that's what you come here for well this too but definitely this [Music] perfectly crispy sweet soy sauce is beautiful gets into all the rice love the lap cham if you love rice you love sausages you never tried this before you got to come to china and give this a shot american all right see you guys see you guys back take care [Music] here's what i typically bring on a trip i got two panasonic gh5s one two i got my drones the batteries i have to take with uh my carry-on because they're gonna allow you to check in small portable light i have a bigger one in my carry-on got that new gopro the ogo pro if i want to be stealthier look at the size difference of these two tremendous and of course this camera i'm filming on i have my nintendo switch my laptop and my ipad tripod on the side all fit into this amazon basic bag obviously not sponsored by amazon but i love these bags love them they're so amazingly tough never had a problem with them before they get worn out but then you just buy a new one and they're only about 40 bucks all right let's go to south korea i know this is a little excessive but uh by the time i get back i'll be glad i have this [Music] total cabin in the woods kind of feel huh it's only ghost kids take care of the house while i'm going i've been trying to find food for the last 30 minutes and i have to get to the airport i have to return this car in about 30 minutes max so i had to go get some gas and i was trying to find some food where i got gas and i find nothing nothing is open nothing is open this early i always want to have a really nice last meal anywhere i am even a popeye's right right now would be excellent guess we'll see what's at the terminal [Music] nobody here right now waiting for the air train [Music] last time i was here this corridor was packed now it's like i'm one of three people and i think i'm the only plane passenger this is completely empty such an apocalyptic feel nobody here there's like maybe under 10 people here terminal 1 is a lot of international flights and it seems right now korea air is the only one that has [Music] staff not a single passenger here besides me so screening is pretty much the same obviously you know without all the people but because of that the dsa people are really nice there's only one other passenger who was checking in behind me i think where she's going to korea as well so i just got through the check-in process there's a couple questions that are now answered so before i got on a flight i went and researched whether i needed to take a covet test before getting on the flight or not now if you look at the website the embassy says you do not need to take a covet test until you land but if you call the airline they say you have to take a kova test within 72 hours of your flight so it's really contradictory information so i did take a covet test and i brought it and they didn't ask for it at all they just took my passport made me sign all those forms saying i would agree to stay at a government facility for two weeks when i land and the cost is going to be about 2100 us dollars which is pretty steep for two weeks day and you'll have no control where you stay so that's making me a little nervous so it's kind of a gamble right now none of the restaurants i think are open here and so far again it's just me and the girl that checked in behind me i'm just gonna go see if i can find more food down a different corridor i actually have ppe vending machines now nothing here besides a close starbucks luxury stores toms blackberry channel how close ester la dole place that sells macaroons at least they're open also bloody that's open too oh that pizza looked like it got beat up i mean just the life is just beat out of this thing this is what i got a beef wrap in baklava really not much to eat and this is korean airlines so i don't expect the food to be that good this is like a beef pizza like a beef bread oh i've had this before i had this before in istanbul i like this basically bread with uh meat baked in this is what i like to call one of those eat to live scenarios i'm hungry i got a long plane ride ahead of me i'm just trying to survive i got so dry and look at this in front of me empty runway been sitting here for about 15 minutes i haven't seen a single plane just in case you haven't figured out yet you really don't have to be three hours early for an international flight anymore i have to wait here for another two hours in 30 minutes but good thing about this i really don't want to be using the bathroom on the whole flight so this will help me [Music] even the baklava so sad hopefully you guys spread it on the [Music] [Applause] [Music] flight this is new i never flew in a korean business class where the seats are staggered like this and not right next to each other got a disinfect who let the dogs out i think that lady has a dog i've never had korean airlines where it's like this there's actually a degree of separation now of course they probably have already disinfected everything but never be too sure let's see what a travel bag looks like nowadays very ppe eye mask is this a good brand toothpaste toothbrush given the fact that i don't even know where i'll be staying for the next two weeks i might need some of this stuff slippers menu i don't think it's a new menu prawn and scallops salad asparagus soup bibimbap if you ever fly economy class definitely get the bibimbap otherwise never get it it's the same different bob served throughout the whole entire flight grilled beef looks good dinner we have salad beef gulp and gym shrimp dumpling noodle soup honestly korean airline uh menus and food items hasn't changed i think ever so right now there's about one two three four five there's about six people here in business class nobody in front of me nobody here nobody in the middle aisle so that's how career gets you to pay attention to their safety video [Music] i'm surprised i thought actually everything was going to be like plastic containers and disposable silverware but everything is actually kind of normal with the exception that this is a plastic cup and the dressing came in a little plastic container besides that i mean this is still normal plates tablecloth silverware is still the same that's kind of surprising what can i say it tastes like it's trying to make me live longer bread [Music] i would rather have gone to my food just completely sealed in something i'm okay eating like a five dollar sandwich i don't need anything gourmet i just i just want to live cream asparagus soup sounds terrifying it tastes delicious i'm gonna dump my garlic bread in there [Music] i mean asparagus soup i don't know how appetizing that sounds to you but it sounds not at all to me but oh it is it's like a cheesy veggie soup it just had a horrible miscommunication i thought i ordered the steak the grilled beef tenderloin but they gave me the roasted cod with basil tomato sauce over pasta and mixed veggies i would have rather had the bibimbap i'll tell you right now this does not smell good i mean i like fish but this does not smell good did my mom call the airline and make them give me this dish there's no way i would have i did not order this i would never choose this over steak [Music] this is very mediocre spaghetti the fish is tender i guess fish is not too bad the sauce is atrocious which tastes like extra sweet spaghetti sauce vegetables are okay for a pretty healthy meal it's not bad it doesn't smell good though it smells like seafood that's been in the freezer too long it's okay ice cream time i can either use this spoon or the spoon that haagen-dazs has provided me thank you for thinking of my safety haagen-dazs it's just instant noodles in a bowl but we're hungry anything tastes good a little instrumental a little shawshank redemption so far not a bad trip good morning this morning in new york but this is uh this is dinner we're about three hours before touchdown and this is one of those flies that's a daytime throughout the flight this is a gobi it looks like a beef stew this is probably the most veggie intake i've had in a long long time on this flight although flying is a little risky it's also very healthy that's really good galby ridiculously tender really good flavor besides like 1 30 a.m for me in new york right now i can't even think straight but good stuff [Music] usually when you get off the plane just a massive people i think our flight was about 10 full just got out of customs learned a lot very educational experience i'll summarize everything when i get to the hotel this is where i'll be for the next two weeks i think i drew the straw here definitely did not get lucky when it came to accommodations this is my bedding i get two beds there's no mattress cover these are not the cleanest looking mattresses it's just a blanket and that's it small room barely enough space to do some workout at least the view is sort of decent and the windows do open oh they open a little bit that's nice at least get some fresh air i lived years in a brooklyn basement before so as long as the wi-fi is good i'm happy i'm pretty sure they cleaned everything i'm just gonna do all that again all right i just got settled into my hotel room let me try to give you guys a summary recap what you need to do some of the things that that i just i found out that would be good for you to know if you're thinking about coming to south korea i would say the process was relatively smooth everyone i encountered was super nice so that was very helpful i took some footage of where we are right now but they told me i can't use any of it i actually got a call in my room saying did you take a picture of the hallway you're like you can't use that so i can't show you guys any of this stuff i'm just gonna have to describe it to you so after the flight lands you go through about uh five or six different stations at the airport i think i filled out four forms now the thing you have to do is that you have to have a contact in south korea you can't show up here and not have a local contact that's something i don't know if it's mentioned on the on the embassy website but you can't have that now the covet testing i took a test before i came uh and i suggest you do too just so you don't get anyone on the plane stick in case you were positive but they didn't check my covet test results before i boarded the flight i'm at hotel now there's still no testing done they said we're going to do the testing tonight but it's already like 8 p.m so i don't know if we're still doing that i kind of want to go to bed but you go through all the different airport people they check everything very meticulously again super super nice people they will call your local contact so in my case my contact was it was at work so her cell phone was off so look i had to get on instagram and find another contact luckily i did elsa i wouldn't be able to leave the airport if you follow me on instagram you know i was kind of confused about whether i could have quarantined at airbnb the answer is no if you are on a visa waiver like myself so if you don't have an actual visa or if you're not a korean citizen you don't have a korean passport you cannot quarantine at airbnb you cannot quarantine at any place else beside a government facility which this is so after i got out of the airport and sorry if i sound completely devoid of energy that's because i am it's like 5am in new york right now so after that you get on a bus with a lot of people i feel like i mean the plane ride over it was very socially distance like there's nobody it's like like i said five percent ten percent the plane was full the bus was a lot fuller and we took the bus right here once you get here you have to download a second app sorry i forgot to mention when you're at the airport you have to download an app and then when you get to the quarantine facility they tell you to delete that app and then download a second app so now i have a second app and on this app i'm gonna self check my temperature every day if i have any symptoms twice a day i have to report it on the app so they took me here did the app thing i had to pay for uh everything upfront so i think it was like twenty one hundred dollars that you have to be ready to pay before you check into this place so this is my place for the next 14 days they actually give you a a menu not really a menu just like three meal choices whether you want a normal meal or one without pork or vegetarian meal i got the normal one so i don't know what the food is like yet and when you get to the room there's no mattress cover it's just pillow and two blankets one blanket will definitely go over the mattress maybe that is a korean mattress cover i don't know and they tell you you cannot open the door you cannot leave the room which i are the stuff i already knew so i'm completely prepared for that i'm just really happy my window does open so i get some a little bit of fresh air and they give me a baggie for tonight let me see what they gave me so this is what they gave me instant noodle microwave rice dessert a mild coffee in this massive jug of water and i think i can't throw anything away unless it's in one of these hazard plastic bags that they leave outside my door i haven't got to that part yet also there's this inside there is more coffee copy mix uh slippers disposable cups two towels and a toothpaste or something that's also in there yeah so three meals a day they're gonna deliver the food every day every day so that's the only time i'm allowed to open the door i think that's it this is my life for the next two weeks i've done worse oh also for the app you want to make sure you have a phone that's going to work in korea i have international plans so my phone my us number works but if you don't have a phone number that works when you're trying to install the app you won't be able to install the apps so make sure you have that and everything else i just mentioned i don't even know what i said i gotta go to bed i'll update you about my life in quarantine we'll do a food review coming up good night
