Knotts Berry Farm - Calico Candy Mine and Beary Tales

hey you all carpetbagger here coming to you live from the west more specifically we are in buena park california and we are at knott's berry farm now of course we come out here to california to experience some of the amazing halloween events and they do have an amazing halloween event here at knotts known as knott's scary farm but it's been a few years since i've been out here to california and i was wanting to just come here during the day and check things out we will be getting to the scary farm i will uh be showing that on this channel but before then i figured we'd just come to knotts uh it's a great park uh one of one of my favorite parks and it's got a couple cool dark rides that we're gonna check out so please follow me [Music] so [Music] of course even though this is not the official not scary farm event there still is a fair amount of spookiness going on all day in the park you can see those rocking chairs rocking by themselves they do a really good job of spooking the place up here got a couple old miners sitting around someone's smoking a pipe talking about all the gold that i found i'm gonna head over to the town jail here oh you see some lady has accidentally got her legs stuck out the window all right the jail let's see if see if an old friend are you in there said i i'm still in here oh it's been years i'm so glad glad to see you i'm so glad to see you too how you how you i've been pretty good i mean my gosh people coming out and dazzling me like they do that old familiar people just like yourselves with all the trick-or-treating kids now tonight's gonna be a lot of different story you might find me under the under my bed at that time you're hiding goblins come out and stuff and zombies and boots he'll be coming alive all right will you stay safe said i will do there's the knife shop which apparently is also a toy shop let's see who's in the window there oh yeah everyone's looking good in there there is a demonically possessed child but uh besides that everyone's looking good right here outside the undertaker's shop up here into the window there oh there's a super spooky skeleton oh and he just transformed into a normal non-spooky guy and then we're going back to skeleton that's some serious spookiness i've always wanted what delivery is i know it has something to do with stables and horses but what's a livery leave a comment in the comments section we know what a livery is here we have the creepy critters of calico what kind of creepy critters they have oh my gosh look at that they have a horse dressed as a skeleton it's the craziest thing i've ever seen some reptiles and lizards here these aquariums got a couple of turtles look at this got a bearded dragon just chilling out right there hey bearded dragon like your like your beard they're selling the the calico's finest snake oil in here looks like they're uh selling it they're squeezing it from uh this big big old snake right here how'd you get the snake oil okay yeah yeah yeah don't don't do that no i i i don't i don't want to see that he's taken care of okay okay i know i'm sorry it's the barber shop here what's going on in here is there some barberry going on here oh there's a there's a barber giving a guy a a haircut or something and oh look at that wanted poster is that for that for sat eye joe no that's that's not sad i joe it actually says one eyed ike or if that's a relative or some sort of gang that has a bunch of eye problems this is the laundry in here i guess that's uh the laundryman right there oh look he's moving you can see his hand ironing ironing the laundry [Music] not even sure what building this is i see ya oh look you think he's got some gold and who's back here here we have the boot hill cemetery the classic comedy hilarious theme park graveyard and there's our old friend lester moore four slugs from a 44 no less no more it's actually a real great this is actually a replica of a real grave out in tombstone arizona here lies sonora jim to a tall tree he was risen the pinto he stole wasn't his in he stole the pinto and they hung him lucky cuss mine engine house who's who's in there i guess it's a lucky cuss we have the barrel house appropriately it is made of barrels what's going on in here oh father i hear the sound of guns who say what may it be some ship in distress that cannot live in such an angry sea this guy's just reading us a reading as a book oh look at that bank robber up there let's peek in the window see what's going on in the bank and not really a whole lot of candy to the children handing out candy can i am i allowed to have one i'm not a child but i do enjoy candy everybody's a child even me i got a charleston she always reminds me of that uh that eminem's song actually thinks that's dr dre featuring emmanuel so this here is pretty awesome haunted shack this is actually brought back this year the uh that original mystery shack here at knotts that was torn down in 2000 and they actually have resurrected it here so awesome to see all right the impossible is about to happen here inside the haunted shack i don't have another person with me currently to uh to kind of show how this works but this is the illusion where one person stands in the corner another person stands in the corner then they switch and then their heights switch as well but i don't know i don't know who this guy is some beautiful showgirls here [Music] there really are a lot of dead skeletons here so this is an old-school classic dark ride the calico mine ride but uh it looks like they're calling it the calico candy mine ride this is this is new i don't know if they are uh switched to a candy theme in there or maybe it's a seasonal name change but uh we'll find out [Music] [Music] all right we're actually riding all the way in the front of the train headed in to the mine every year this year mine transports from silver to all right he said the mine transforms from silver ore to candy once a year so i guess this is a a uh seasonal overlay oh in the hot springs actually feel the steamy steam coming out of these mud pots [Music] oh my gosh look at all those animatronics it's an insane amount of animatronics guy mining for candy there the whistling big rock candy mountain oh lazy the air always blowing all right the canary's alive oh bats freaky bats beautiful cave formations in here [Applause] [Music] [Applause] here look at that guy crazy vultures up there the mine tunnel picking up speed oh no what explosion [Music] so yeah i'm not 100 sure they they've changed the theming to their mining for candy now um i don't i don't know if that is a halloween thing or if that's just the permanent um new theme now it's always nice to see a little freshness added to a ride it's a great ride either way um i just i always love that right there's so many animatronics there's a big room there's just all these miners uh you ever notice this is a side there is a lot of mining themed amusement park rides who who knew that mining would be the basis for so much fun in amusement parks but anyway yeah i love this ride an absolute classic now here is a brand new ride i've not had a chance to hop aboard yet this is the knots berry tail return to the fair i think it's a style of dark ride but uh yeah let's hop aboard and see what this is all about of course the berry and knott's berry farm refers to these boysenberries a style of blackberry that they used to grow here see the giant berries there i wonder if this is some sort of berry themed dark ride okay we're heading into a berry factory it appears that we are in some sort of pie factory oh see there's a animal up there in the window this is the baker of the month huckle berry seems like they're maybe playing off the pun of bears and berries wait a minute i just noticed flour sugar and glue you put glue in the pie what kind of madness is this we're gonna kill people so apparently coyotes are the bad guys and they eat pies for some reason so i think this is some sort of shooting ride you have a boysenberry blaster so your gun is a jar of jelly so it's an interesting concept over here we got some jackets and helmets for people working in the pie factory here's some of the pie ingredients flour sunshine and of course the most important ingredients sawdust you can see that big spinning fan actually it looks like uh those little rubber paddles that you make cakes with some extra good stuff to put in the pie and why why again why why glue why are they putting glue in the pie it's like this is the stove maybe where the pies are inserted and baked yeah this used to actually be a a different uh dark ride called iron reef and it was i remember correct i think i wrote it once and you it was like a underwater themed um ride didn't really match the theming of the park but i think you like shot at sharks and octopuses on a screen got a gun so i think this might be like a retooling of that ride now this ride is in 3d so you're gonna have to put on your own glasses at home [Music] [Applause] so this is our weapon this is the knott's berry jam blaster it looks like we got to pull this string on the back to fire to shoot i don't know who we're shooting maybe those coyotes it's an interesting weapon a jelly jar blaster oh here we go off on our great adventure here welcoming you to the berry family pie factory okay i'm shooting pies shooting pies [Music] there's a pie conveyor belt in here [Music] a blast oh you can actually shoot the bears the innocent bears you can shoot them and and harm them oh yeah you can shoot innocent people look i'm just blasting this this lady who's the supervisor of a fight factory all right we're in in a swamp now okay those are the bad coyotes right there you want to shoot them oh [Applause] now entering the frog forest those creepy mushrooms right there a lot of shooting a lot of pies what are we i don't even know what you're shooting what are the bullets are made out of it's a frog jumping contest you're not entering the camp of fortune tellers oh this is interesting there's carrot card reading there's an owl who's a giant wizard oh there's some spooky ghosts it's all very strange oh there we have some solid uh objects whoa what's going on what's going on in these tents keep collecting those pies okay we're collecting we've got to collect pies we shoot the tents this way to the fair oh the portrait teller in there oh boy i've got the scissors thunder cave oh no one said there'd be thunder involved danger oh oh no oh spiders spiders and thunder [Music] the world's most deadly combination spiders thunder and i think there may be a few bats in there as well oh there's the coyotes gonna blast their pies oh we're plummeting down to crevasse oh look at that spooky tree right there that's super spooky okay there's a coyote taking a bath i guess we have to shoot them the answer to everything is shooting apparently oh we made it to the fair no reason to stop shooting i guess photo op are they gonna take a photo of us oh mass chaos mass pie related chaos oh look at all those pies like crafty's big plan was [Music] ah there's the family of bears [Music] thanks to you oh where am i where am i i got seven seventh place wait a minute okay that's what we actually got 25 000 points i hit only 11 pies i i did poorly very poorly i'm deeply ashamed of myself so that says i got zero i think it was actually counting over here 25 100 11 pi zero wolves really seemed like i shot more pies than 11. go back and watch this video and tell me how many pies nah don't do that that's that's the waste of your time i'm sorry just me my deadly jelly blaster shooting pies emptied out into this arcade here and i have some claw machines some really cool uh prizes this has the universal monsters in it and this has characters from jaws they have the shark they have uh a woman the woman the shark murdered and they have a quint and look at his eyes like a black like a doll's eyes also they have these uh it's a a panda and a penguin gorging on fast food what they actually have a gift shop here connected to the fairy tales dark ride i have some merch here do you like this pennant and they got uh coyote tails if uh if you like that sort of thing some of the characters that were on the ride we have that little bear these glasses the top hat and i guess these are the evil coyotes they love pies you know in real life coyotes they like eat chickens or your cat but i've never known a coyote to eat a pie oh here's all the characters if you were wondering what their names were the flapper razz oh i guess these are their last name's barry so his name is raz berry he's the oldest so he's elder berry this boy is named boyzen he's a poison berry and girlson girls and bear a girlsenberry that's silly this car here is actually an old ride vehicle from the uh soapbox racers this was a ride that was opened in 1980 and they found this abandoned ride vehicle and restored it oh no i really love this they have sad eye joe merch chatted with him a little a little bit earlier sati joe horse thief and how are you ladies doing this fine afternoon i can see like a scarecrow on a wooden bracket that we come to a stand still miss kate perhaps we should uh talk to a third party an
