gentlemen welcome back we're off on another poorly planned ill-advised machinery gathering mission I don't believe I have the capacity to adequately explain what we're getting ourselves into so you're gonna have to you're gonna have to see it for yourself I have this little fuel pump here although I think that's highly optimistic toss it in the tool box along with some fuel lines this mixed gas another gas can full of diesel a longtime viewers the channel will know that I subscribed to an organizational philosophy known as the SOS system stuff on a shelf unfortunately since we moved to the new location I've regressed to the sip system stuff in a pile or more accurately several piles think we're looking for yeah right there can't beat the brutal efficiency of the sip system you just shake it until what you want falls out that's a good stuff right there well let's get fueled up here I had a feeling we're gonna be needing a little comfort in a can well I don't know about you guys but I don't trust a man who doesn't have a knife in his pocket and at least 50 pounds of worthless crap in the back of his truck preferably with a bottle opener well this is what we're after it is an international 38 60 front-end loader don't quote me on that move in for a closer look you can see it's a beautiful fall day here in northwestern Illinois we got about a 95 percent chance of rain so let's not worry about that yeah sweet little ride there's the serial number plate I believe it says 38 50 so this is a rigid frame loader and only the back wheels steer and that's what's underneath the hood that is an international 301 maybe inline 6-cylinder gas engine might be at 282 I don't know it's basically the same engine that they use in like a 706 tractor or like a 656 maybe even in 806 I don't know for sure but that's the power plant here's the hood sometime that used to say 38 50 so obviously this is a gasser she's had the exhaust pipe covered but the intakes been sitting wide open and we came down here about two weeks ago to monkey around with it and she's just fetched up tight nothing so I thought I'd stop by today and poke a little transmission fluid in the spark plug holes and see if we can get it to pop loose I am not too optimistic about it man the skeeters are gonna carry me away okay where you guys want to start should we see if the air conditioner works it's a prayer I would start no how about a backstory so this machine belongs to my grandfather and I know a little bit of the history of it maybe not all of it he used to work when I was a kid it ran and you know why I say ran I'm being pretty generous but we used to use it at the house and I remember the the hydraulics and everything seemed to work on it my dad fixed the hydraulic pump drive one time I think and that part works never had brakes I don't think it ever ran on more than about four out of six cylinders and there were doors on the cab at one time most the glass is broken out now this machine originally came from the state I believe it was in Illinois no Missouri State Highway machine somehow found its way up here to Northwest Illinois she Brea rough and like I said the engine never ran right but just miss and the head low power smoked really bad anyway my dad kind of poked around with it and figured out that it needed a valve job it had low compression on a couple of cylinders and for whatever reason he didn't want to fix it probably cuz the rest of it's such a pile of crap so I didn't get fixed and didn't get fixed and then finally my somebody approached my grandfather and told him that all it needed was a tune-up and then he should just bring it over to his place and he'd get her tuned right up and know how long that took several years I guess but must have been a heck of a tune-up because the end result was that he replaced the entire engine so I kind of think maybe my dad was right in his original diagnosis but who's to say somewhere along the line he put brand new tires on it and as far as I know after the engine was replaced it was running and they drove it into this location and that's where they left it and I think it's been sitting here since 2006 so what 13 or 14 years and like I said she just seized up solid so I don't know what we're gonna have to do to get her running but it's gonna be an uphill battle there's been a lot of hands on this little girl you can see they actually cut this reinforcing bar here at the back to get the engine out and somebody stabbed it back on the fuel tank is I guess built into this fender somebody put an electric fuel pump on it I don't know if the old sediment bulls been disabled or what looks like they just stuffed a rubber lion on the end of the old steel fuel line I don't know not too optimistic about it but this does have an Alison some type of an allison automatic transmission I think it's like two forward gears and one reverse and I don't know I think these are just Dana axles of some kind and I don't know how the brakes work on this old girl I think they're actually inside the planetaries so yeah juice brakes of some kind I don't know just a big drum I guess yeah anyway let's get some tools and do something I think we're probably done before we even start take a gander at this dipstick she's you guys see the actual level in there it's full so basically the crankcase is full above the centerline of the care of the crankshaft so yeah probably only holds like I don't know six or eight quarts of oil so it's probably got I don't know four or five gallons of water in it how that happened because the exhaust has been covered and I don't see how it could really come through the intake I don't know I'll have to think on that what if it came through the intake we're screwed hole inside of that carburetor is probably rotted out I think we'll grab the old southern socket set here we'll just crack the drain plug loose on the oil pan and see what we get out of it and yeah I got a sneaking suspicion that what may have happened is the the head gasket was bad and just after 15 years of sitting here all the coolant has leaked down into the oil pan or worse yet there is water in the oil pan and it's been freezing and thawing in there for god knows how long and we may have some big problems on the bottom end of the engine so oh well that's not happening great let's try that again okay so what is it actually seven eight I guess it is take three okay so it's not seven eight the hell size is it alright I don't know who's rounded this thing off but I don't we'll be lucky if we get it out of there and I got that all jacked up jeans what happened to it someone weld a nut to the bottom of it okay now I think we can let the water just run off first [Music] that's all water and it looks pretty green to me folks if I can catch most of it in this drain pan [Music] what's not gonna breathe to me oh yeah that is some wonderful stuff yeah I don't think we're gonna drive her out of here today maybe if Musti one was here he could have fired up by the time it gets dark but not me well I think that's all she wrote folks shizzle you don't let that wonderful stuff roll out of there for a while and my waste oil guys gonna love this stuff yeah that's the deal somebody changed it from an innie to an Audi by welding the nut onto that plug yeah or maybe it had a yeah that'll had a larger hex that they stripped out so they just welded a nut on the bottom doesn't matter now well folks some stories just don't have a happy ending and I think the old oil drain pan here pretty much says it all we're not even one whole cow into it and I'm gonna call the old grill official Edie Edie dead I guess you never know maybe some generous YouTube viewer has a international straight-6 in his back pocket that he'd like to donate to this gem of a machine so we can put her back on frontline service but I doubt that's going to happen well slightly she'll come out of here in pieces and we'll melt her down and make her into razor blades and a life will go on my brother did a little poking around on the yield Internet he claims there was only like a hundred and forty of these floaters ever made with the gas engine so it may be kind of a rare bird but there's no collector value to a machine like this and there's certainly no practical value to it at least as it sits right now so we better just cut our losses and walk away it started to come down pretty good anyway plus the skeeters are just atrocious yeah so I don't know what to say I would say either the head gasket was bad when they parked it and slowly over time it just leaked all the coolant into the crankcase and then I don't know something may be leached in from the exhaust caused her to lockup or the other possibility is that the coolant was you know the concentration was all wrong when they parked it and whatever was in there for coolant just froze and cracked the head and or cracked the block and that's what caused all the all the coolant to run down into the oil pan and then that may have also caused some internal you know damage that's that's basically seized up the engine so one of those two things has happened and that's a catastrophic failure it's certainly not worth rebuilding that engine or or even putting another engine in you can get them used engine for this thing's probably the whole machine's not worth that so here's another one we can't save old allis-chalmers motor grader missing the moldboard and I know it's got some kind of major engine problem that's why they that's why they put it down here she's looking pretty sad but I did spot something over here that I think we might be able to save possibly in a future video little Clark forklift down here she looks kind of sad gcx Clark we got a propane tank can't believe no one stole that no there's a tag over there I can't read it I think it's a 5000 pound capacity it says 5475 at 24 inches so call it 50 500 pound capacity looks like it might have side shift yeah that doesn't look too bad missing the forks but I think I might have a set of forks that would actually fit it so yeah maybe that's something we could work on pop it open see if the engine is stuck well I don't recognize that engine I don't know maybe a little Nissan or Isuzu 4-cylinder she cranks over or she turns over by hand so it's not stuck actually looks pretty clean underneath of the of the seat huh I thought we could make this thing run there you go stay tuned for a future video the hood prop even works well guys I want to thank you for watching I'm sorry it didn't turn out to be something cooler than what it actually is it would have been awesome duh right in here vice-grip garage style and tossed in a battery drive this little girl home but just isn't gonna happen I'm gonna get out of here hopefully with a few of my red blood cells and maybe I'll see you guys on a future project if you like what we're doing give me a thumbs up or give me a little comment down in that comment box I always enjoy reading those and if you want to see more of these videos like this maybe become a subscriber always have abstained from asking people to do that you know you guys can do whatever you want but it does provide some encouragement so yeah anyway that's all for now [Applause]
