[Music] [Music] so [Music] foreign [Music] [Laughter] [Music] foreign [Music] hello par our family around the world we are delighted to have you with us today i hope you like our theme tune music i think some of us are um so familiar with it we will be uh listening to it in our sleep today is wednesday the 22nd of july and we are actually not live though it looks like we are this is pre-recorded and when it's wednesday the 22nd of july when you watch this hopefully sam and sarah jane and i will be on annual leave we'll film the holiday hopefully we have a little bit of time today so as you watch this you can pray for the sun as we take some much needed time off in anticipation of that i raided the back of my wardrobe uh yesterday to get the um the annual appearance of the swimming suit uh which doesn't happen very often in scotland uh for obvious weather reasons we don't have regular swimsuit wearing in scotland it's generally an annual event it's horrible it's horrible so i've gone out of the cupboard i've not dared try it on uh but i was online having a look all right does anybody enjoy swimsuit shopping does anybody in the world i like swimming shopping no i do like sewing shorts i love buying new plumbing shorts but it's probably definitely a guy yeah i think i bought new sub insurance yet the other day they got delivered they're crazy because i am like having a decree a prophetic decree that i will get to wear them sometime soon so like i was like i'm going to buy some insurance there's going to be sudden and there's going to be a need for them in my life at some point and i went for the boldest ones i could possibly find just as i could just to get my head into gear that there'll be sun in my life well i see you we applaud your act of faith i do remember sam was it last year you bought your camel uh swimming trunks that were a great discussion uh in the office and they got you didn't wear them but you did show us all your your camo um swimming trunks these are like paisley pockets like paisley pattern multi-colored craziness they're mental each other in bathing suits and a once-off was um in israel when we went to the dead sing together yeah yes i was just thinking about that and trying to forget about it okay i think for me it was it wasn't shocking trauma seeing you guys it was shocking trauma actually wearing it in front of everybody you know we should be so bothered about these things i think we do make too much of a fuss it was but we were covered in mud so that was fine but i have to say back to the conversations about hot tubs and the whole thing you know that's obsessed people are obsessed we've been looking at buying a house literally nearly every second house has a hot tub with it and they they say oh we're going to include the hot tub and you think i don't want a hot tub you know it's not even any point for me it's actually i want you to remove it from the garden because we don't want a hot tub you know it's a funny isn't it people seem to be obsessed i know you love it and sophie does too love it if we had one but i have well it's not my favorite no swimming in everybody else's dead skin cells on you go with that although no jessica says mommy mommy you should break out and you should buy a bikini i'm like there's an asian stage jessica which bikinis i don't think are appropriate and i am definitely there and she says oh mama you just you look so good i might just say i haven't ate lots of abdominal surgery my tummy is i've got so many scars on it you know i know i love your scars you should put them on display i'm like no no it's a swimming suit we're going for so isn't it lovely to be loved and celebrated and all the wobbles and uh all the other all the literal wobbles yes i know yeah who do pool parties and have the kind of weather where that's normal but that's just not our it's just too cold here anyway i think if you're californian californians have pool parties but all californians are beautiful um and are thin and slim and and buff and muscly because i've seen the pictures i know this for a fact what a generalization that is all californians are beautiful and all scots are beautiful just in a different shape [Laughter] do you know what i would like in scotland i'd like to have garden furniture that you could actually use rather than look out the window and think that's good that's getting very wet out there that garden furniture in the rain several times i've looked out the window and thought man uh you will know from yesterday that uh we are doing a week of q and a you had so many amazing questions i have pages still pages and uh yesterday we thought we'd get through loads and i think we answered a whole three or four but it was rich in content uh despite the few that we answered and i love the fact that you uh feel the liberty to ask us intelligent articulate questions so well done you the par our family so we're going to start at the top and and this is a lady called tracy jenkins hi tracy and you said you've been listening to us from oregon hi oregon usa and you would like to hear a short three-minute testimony from each of us uh it'd be fun to hear a little about your life how you came to christ schooling etc uh so absolutely we love to share our stories and i'm sure some are more exciting than others but we'll give our best shot who wants her sam you are the youngest you are 24. tell us four 24. yes you've got somebody in your 20s somebody in their 40s and somebody in their 50s uh when nate's on he hits the 30s category so tell us about yourself three minutes three minutes though how do you do it like that my goodness me that's pressure in itself and so i'm 24. i was brought up in um a brethren church in glasgow just actually really close to where i'm living just now and really was raised with a rich history rich foundation in the word of god and memorizing scripture which has uh got me still in good stead for all of life but as a child i would have um really um spiritual experiences there were prophetic encounters i didn't know that's what they were until later on and that there were a real place of safety for me up until a certain age and that age really was when i became part of the wider church family that i was raised and and the church that i was raised then they were cessationist they then just not believe that the holy spirit still moves through gifts and through encounters and miracles today they would teach actively against that and particular movement and so what i was experiencing at home in my room was then almost taught from the platform be a as being not just bad or not from god but from the enemy and from satan and that really plunged me into a many years of just confusion and a fight for belonging elsewhere but during those years um i am my mom and dad took what is the most courageous decision i think of their life to leave that church that not just we have been part of but every member of my family ever all the way back had been part of and planted a small church with a few others and the aim of that small church was to explore this thing called the holy spirit and see what's up with the holy spirit and and fast forward kind of a couple of years there i was waking up to the reality of the holy spirit and how the holy spirit moves and there was one sunday morning i was sat at church i'd been out a party the night before i was not in the right frame of mind i was tired i don't want to be there to be quite honest and in walked or as i would like to say warfd a group of prophets emma and cena jane and some others from glasgow beric center they wafted in the school hall with i mean i think at that time your glasgow prophetic center was only a year old so you brought your whole team with you every every team member ever and and they brought it now emma's team at that time and still were wild manifesters as well now bearing in mind that the church was filled with ex-brethren cessationist strict conservative people and we're exposed to these to this holy spirit and i mean i remember emma standing at the front of the church in fact it was another lady who helped just start and she called out a lady from the church and said i just see that there's just been this this hedge of limitation around you and that woman i had seen a hedge around her my whole life every single time i looked at her and they literally went round the room doing call-outs and i see this and i saw that and i'd seen it all and this god context dropped into my life where i realized i wasn't alone and that really catapulted me into many years of of going to every sort of event i possibly could to learn about the spirit of god i mean i went to every school that a glasgow prophetic center ever did and see to be honest it wasn't about learning it wasn't not ever about information i didn't understand some of it because i was so young but it was about being in the presence of those that i was like and actually at one of the events emma got us to write some prophetic words down about uh about your future about what god was saying to you personally i remember it so distinctly and whether it was the god speaking or my heart speaking um i did write down there that i would work for glasgow prophetic center one day because i just really wanted to work full time and whether it was god or my heart i ended up when i was 17 working for glasgow prophetic center and the rest is history really yes and we have loved every minute of working with you and uh sam is a sign and wonder in his generation uh and a sign we say that kind of like he's an anomaly no no he's a standard by which many are going to hit of being so in love with jesus uh and actually many round about you within uh we we renamed ourselves the global prophetic alliance and many are are like that at your age and stage about that and a younger generation coming out of my children sir jane's children who are like that but thank you yay for sharing your testimony sarah jane you and i have lived a little bit longer you're up next tell us your story we have lived a little bit longer but um yes to make it a short three minutes and my life was very much un churched i was on church i used to go to in fact a private catholic school up until i was 11 and that was my experience of religion and but other than that as a family we didn't attend church and so i grew up um as one i think who believed in god but never knew anything about a personal relationship with jesus until i met and married my husband and we moved to a village in north glasgow and we had felt on getting married that it was important to join the church for community and join the church because we believed in god and it was through that through that connection with the local church of scotland that we began to be asked questions you know do you know jesus as your personal savior you know those kind of questions and i never really having been asked that before and didn't know quite what the answer was and so went on a journey gave our lives to jesus profess faith joined the church and traditional church of scotland style and uh very much um found um found jesus found holy spirit through the word and got into studying the bible and enjoying bible study and enjoying uh reading the bible and and praying and community and the real meaning of church community that really took care of each other and still does in our village where we live right now for a few more weeks actually before we move and so this sense of uh finding heart finding community but not really finding the more i'm not i'm knowing uh that i was hungry for more knowing that there was a desiring me from all but not knowing what more really i was looking for or more that i was asking for but one uh one day on a sunday i remember going forward for prayer ministry and i'd felt this nudge and push from holy spirit to go and get prayer but i didn't really know what i was asking for and so i just went to them who were friends and i just said look i've just been feeling this nudge i just really feel um that i need prayer but all i can say is all i want is more i want to go to the next level with god but i don't even know what that looks like and i can remember bursting into tears a little bit of the frustration but also a little bit at the hunger but without the articulation or understanding of what i was asking for and so um god knew what he was doing within a couple of weeks i was leading an alpha group with a local sort of young mom's group when the children were young and we all came together to study the word and on a monday morning and it was the uh the uh holy trinity brompton alpha course videos at that point and it was the holy spirit week and so our local minister nigel came along and he unbeknown to me at that point he started to pray in tongues when nikki gamble invited holy spirit and he had explained that it would be a little um pilate light or potentially a big whoosh like a fire going on roaring and raging when holy spirit comes in you and is ignited upon you and what happened to me was it was a wish it was a complete invasion of my body i felt power surging through my body i felt my heart literally expanding physically and i felt like it was going to stretch and break i knew it was god and i was saying more god more lord i want more of you and it was it was like my prayer had been answered but the same time i thought god you're gonna kill me and and i came out of that session feeling completely alive completely um charged with energy like electricity through my body after i'd managed to stand up because my legs had gone from under me and i couldn't stand for some time and i was told that was the baptism of the holy spirit and so this baptism of holy spirit drove me then on a journey to be hungry for the supernatural things of god the unexplained and within that um the only thing that i could do and the only thing that i could find was something called healing rooms that was even a slightly bit edgy about supernatural healing of god and so i went to one of their conferences and i got a powerful touch from god supernaturally healed a broken collarbone i'd had an injury years ago when i was 11 it got completely straightened out nobody laid hands on me but god's hands and it was an incredible thing and so this driving really of the supernatural then led me to um glasgow prophetic center and uh the mentoring school had started and i had just read a book and on holiday prophetic evangelism by mark stibby and a friend of mine had said hey sarah jane you should come along to this mentoring school of the prophetic it's going to be right up your street you'll love it and so i went to the second school and then i met you emma didn't i very soon after and we we did coffee and a children's play date and you said just come along and uh and joined the team and by then i'd been practicing listening prayer and obviously that was prophetic and training that i'd been having unbeknown to me and so all of my senses were switched on spiritually in that moment i thought it was normal turns out it actually is normal but then nobody else was being normal with me until i found my tribe in global prophetic centers mentoring school when i found my place and knew that it was actually the new normal and so i'm forever grateful like sam that emma and david took that step to start gpc so that we could find our place and find the fit for the call of god on our lives wow and i've loved every loved every minute and sarah jane and i we've worked together i think 11 years are we into our 12th year 11 something like that we are into our 12th year yeah and it has been just a sheer joy uh beginning middle and end to have uh sarah jane uh over a decade you know as as the greatest of of friends so yes okay tell you about my story uh rabbit fire i feel like i was born in church so i'm a fourth generation bible teacher and some amazing amazing godly relatives my father a senior theologian my mother you know wrote the everyday with jesus bible reading notes and christian books and and uh they you know worked with the great and the good and christian leadership but actually interestingly my dad's granny uh she was a a a really godly preacher in the days where that was as rare as hen's teeth you know so i i grew up rich in that lineage and my my granny actually my other granny on my mom's side she only died in december in her she's 90 don't forgot 92 maybe she was and she would have prayed for me every single day of my life and come down in the morning you know for uh as long as i was alive my 44 years and prayed so this phenomenal lineage of blessing on both my mom and my dad's side are really really blessed i think um my father was a troubleshooter uh really for churches in pain and my sense growing up was uh we had so many broken ministers in our house that dad was was was um counseling and deeper healing my sense was that every minister was in pain and every church was in crisis that was my uh belief as a young teenager i don't know that i reviewed that upwards very much over the years um but we were broadly cessationalists we had no understanding of the spirit of god at all even though my dad would have taught on the scriptures to do with the holy spirit but really there was no sense of relationship but i could see and hear in this spirit but i did not know that's what it i just no language at all for it so i would see faces i would know when somebody was gonna die i it was just like i knew stuff and uh i would tell my dad and i would think well everybody gets that it wasn't until i went to university to study uh where i met my husband the university of york in england and my first degree was a politics and sociology degree i was there from 94 to 98 and did that before i went into pharmaceuticals retrained went into pharmaceuticals but i'd gone there because i was going to be prime minister that was the dream or an opera singer that didn't really quite work out but that was i'm going to study politics because i'm going to be the prime minister because you know i want to do good in the world that was very much in my heart and i loved loved that and actually ended up though majoring in sociology and majoring in serial killers and why people kill um so a lot of interesting things there but uh but we met the holy spirit in those years uh wimber actually was a massive part of that in 1994 and just my world blew up there's a holy spirit who knew you know and like what is this thing oh that's prophecy and about you know uh 13 years ago when glasgow vedic center was was it still a dream at that point i just was really irritated that everywhere i went people were talking about i heard god say i have this vision and they would not be able to tell you how that had happened and i i thought this is not good enough we need to have an international training and equipping place where people can actually know how to hear the voice of god hi to work with the angelic and not just have somebody say i heard with no ability to raise us up to their standards and really glasgow vedic center was born from that sense of not just about one person's platform or two people's platform but a people movement who need to know what god is saying so i did spend a decade in pharmaceuticals i did train as a counselor as well in all those years and i actually find that very useful did work for a pro-life charity as well in in all the years uh but a number of jobs in the early years in shoe shops and that's probably where i got my passion for shoes my first three jobs were in shoe shops so there we go anyway brilliant brilliant next question sam do you want to read it to us oh you are on mutes um sorry it's because i've got some work so if you'd been done in the house so if you do hear a slight drilling noise i promise it's from downstairs um they're doing that just now so that's the next question um kind of on the back of of our stories there from kathy gross m and you've talked you've you've really said this how do we live in the world but not of the world great question and you expand and you say there that there are times that you feel like a stranger in a strange land so how is it that you live in the world but not of the world surgeon do you want to start by answering that yeah i think the first place i would go is even jesus's prayer in john 17 14 to 16 that says i've given them your word and the world has hated them for they are not of the world any more than i am of the world my prayer is not that you take them out of the world but you protect them from the evil one they are not of the world even as i am not of the world and so we have to recognize that we are aliens we in a foreign land we are citizens of heaven on the earth we are of another realm and another kingdom uh in the in the earth but jesus is really clear here who and he says you know father i don't want you to take them out of the world but i want you to protect them in the world and so we have to acknowledge that part of our call is to live in the world and affect the world we are to be agents of change as matthew 5 and even 6 speaks about you know we are to be the salt of the world of the light of the world we are to stop the rot we are to advance the kingdom we have to bring transformation we are supposed to be working and living in community in family in workplaces and bringing a transformation of that citizen of heaven ship down into the earth realm and releasing it and bringing reformation and transformation but so many of us i think get caught up with the with this um mindset of i need to protect my culture as a christian i need to keep myself away from the world because i might get infected i need to keep myself out of places of darkness and of the world because i might get slimed and so you know the word of god is complete opposite to that isn't it it's the complete opposite of actually go out there and affect the darkness go out there and push it back go out there and bring a transformation but so many christians live in that sense of i'm afraid uh that i'll get tainted i'm afraid that i will get damaged i'm afraid that my child will get damaged i'm afraid that my business or my my um you know my reputation even will get damaged by being in the world and not of it and i think that's very much rooted in the way that we think if we're if we're partnering with the religious spirit that we need to live in a certain way that we must not touch this that we must not live like this but actually the lord is saying this light this salt is in you go and shine it completely expansively go and scat assault liberally and bring transformation to the world in which you live and to do that we have to do what jesus says and he prays to be in the world and be protected but actually bring transformation as we do that yeah very very good i think it's worth noting that um because we're in the world but not all of it it you know we we we are peculiar people this this royal proof is this home according to peter it is normal to have moments where you feel homesick it is normal to feel on occasions a little bit displaced here and it is normal to have to wrestle with that where is my home how do i feel that i why do i feel that i don't settle and i don't often belong because your belonging is in the courts of heaven that is the place where there is a room prepared for you that jesus says i've gone ahead to make that place and that is where the the the the base of the family that you belong to reside they live in that heavenly realm and so i think you we often talk to people particularly in the counseling you know realm who feel displaced and feel homesick i would say you have to navigate often a sense of yearning and and homesickness and and displacement as standard as a christian that that is not unusual and that that you navigate that by saying christ is my home heaven is my future and you settle your heart in that by understanding that that is not strange and at one point god asked me to move heist i mean we moved twice a lot at one point and it's very house moving is greatly deeply unsettling and uh you have to know that christ is your home and heaven is your future to be able to have a sense of peace that is not easily robbed because you are not of the world now you heard me say there that i did a politics degree i feel very strongly that there must be a an eye that you keep open on what is happening in modern culture that you must know what is going on in politics and i would listen uh right from the age of about 1819 every night to today in parliament on radio 4. and i just partly because of the politics degree but partly that sense of training myself to understand what is happening in the world so that i can ask god how it should be and what his version of that is so there is this sense of i do not shut myself away that although my home is with christ i am a solution and therefore when i watch the news or i listen to today in parliament i'm a great great radio fan i spend a lot of time listening to the radio i like the talk show programs uh the phone end programs on the radio i mean they do get me a bit annoyed but i like to hear what is on the lips of the world what are they phoning in what have they got to say and usually i am listening like this that awful thing that's been said in the news not on my watch is that going to be what happens i speak the opposite in the name of jesus so i'm watching the news but i am watching it as a custodian of the kingdom of god i'm not watching the news or listening to these phoneme programs in a passive state it is not my background noise the zeitgeist the spirit of the age is not the wallpaper of my life it is something that i intentionally engage with uh with an active heart and an active spirit saying you need freedom from that oh my goodness there's a demon on that right there that needs you know i lose you from where your bondage i speak over the news that that's not going to be what happens that i am very much engaged with the culture and active in it in a commanding way in the name of jesus not in a passive way where it becomes you know something that slimes me and i think the great skill to navigate that line between being in the world but not of it is the activity of your spirit man that you keep alert and not a sleep so that you are not overwhelmed by what is going on out there but you know when you switch the radio on that you switch your spirit onto or the news you switch your spirit onto that you can start to pray and decree as you see what is happening in the world sir james you you have had people say weird things to you about this about engaging with culture in the in peculiar extremes you're assigned sorry yes absolutely i think um i've had the extremes i think of communities and that want to lock themselves away rather than empowering and bringing transformation at one end and then at the other end communities of christ who want to really uh engage so much in culture that they want to listen to everything music wise they want to watch everything theater or film wise and they want to read everything even something as uh as raunchy and as explicit as fifty shades of grey remember when that book came out was like oh i need to read it so i can understand what they're all reading no you don't no you don't you don't actually have to engage in everything in culture to be able to impact it and influence it but you do need to have your eye over what is going on and and discerned by holy spirit how would you have me impact how would you have me move forward to bring influence and advance the kingdom of god yes really important sam yeah totally and i think just finally um sorry if there is noise it's getting quite noisy with uh the work here but just finally we have to get out of the fear that if we see just see evil or see darkness or just walk past that that somehow it will have an effect on our lives and often we believe the lie you know if i see evil or touch evil or look at evil or hear evil even if it's just off in the distance then i will become evil and yes i set boundaries around my life there are no goal areas because i don't want certain things to have access to me i don't read certain things i don't watch certain things i don't listen to certain things i there's some places i won't go but nonetheless he who is in me is greater than he who is in the world and i am the defining atmosphere setter wherever i go and i think we've got to get out of the fear of yes we don't live as the world but we live as another world with the full weight and power of that other world to bring transformation wherever i go and so even in the darkest of places there's an opportunity for light to shine but i think we've got to be honest number one about our no-go areas what's a no-go area biblically but also for you personally if you are super sensitive there may be some things that you know you just cannot go you cannot look at you cannot watch but ultimately god convinced me of the power and the authority that you have put in me that he who that's in who is in me that she's you jesus is greater than he who is in the world and stop deal with my fear actually over if i just see evil i'll become it that's a lie if evil sees you it's meant to run and you're meant to bring the goodness of god into that environment yeah i mean those the kind of cultural iconic moments of our age you know that define bizarre things like game of thrones now david and i and the family here have not watched that and i watched it for five minutes why because i wanted to get a sense on what it was going to do in this spirit realm so after five minutes i'm saying god what are the spirits behind it what is it going to do to those who watch it and then it goes it gets switched off that i come into an understanding of you know how i am praying of what is happening in my society of what is washing the minds of of my non-christian friends so that i can intelligently articulate what i think that will do and because apparently the main character in game of thrones shares my surname apparently the main family there is stark i i've not seen that but number of people look at particularly when we're traveling and these guys although oh stark as in game of thrones and it it that that is the association with the surname stark for most passport operator i've ever you know come across and you have that window moment to say well that would have affected your purity won't it you know they look at you and and that sense of you know do you want your purity restored your innocence restored and you you you make sure you have an understanding of what it's doing in the spirit realm and in their psyche and their emotions so that you can be a a solution a solution to it the other thing i would say about being in the world but not of it is you must have a tribe around to bite you whether virtually or whether in person but a tribe that you can run to who keep you sharp it is necessary and that tribe is not described in scripture as as a feather you know softens another feather it's described as as iron sharpens iron the concept of people around to bite you is so that there can be an absolute robustness that is brought into you by somebody else who is iron-like in their biblical standards who is iron-like in their truth and that you meet each other and you bring such a sharpness to each other you need people like that who can say actually i think you've overdone it there or i think you need to come back from that or is that really good that your child is watching harry potter i mean really is that what you want to be celebrating you know thoughts of witchcraft is is that right and that those those frank and honest conversations must be had if you have any hope of surviving uh in the world but not be of it so those would be our top tips that's a long question i hope you find it useful emma can i just jump in just a brief thought as you're talking because what i'm aware of and what's coming to mind are people who have had an amazing testimony of healing and breakthrough for themselves but they're still walking it out and they they often feel a call to go back into that environment to release the kingdom of god to be an evangelist to bring transformation and so that's when it's really important that you have your company of people because we've seen over the years haven't we a number of people who felt called to go back into the environment they got saved out of so for example spiritualism or um or the new age or possibly even same sex um relationships whatever it might be to go and be a witness to go and be an evangelist and bring transformation but oftentimes they're not quite free of that themselves and so when some saying areas are off limits some areas will be off limits for you for a time until you get full healing or and god may not even call you to go to that particular area of society he may call you out of it to send you somewhere else or he may call you out to then go back in but i think there's no there's no pattern for these things that is is standard it very much is do what god is asking you to do when he asks you to do it and it's it's so important to be submitted to a leader and to be in community so that you're doing the right thing at the right time and so you know i would always say to even to even intercessors there's no area that's off limits to the kingdom of god or to the church of god however there may be areas that are particularly off limits to you uh and particular areas that are specifically for you to go and advance the kingdom of god and so it's just so important that you learn to discern that and learn to check that and have that iron sharpen so just yeah just thinking of that and blessing you guys as you mull that one over and and some of the things that you might be feeling god has called you to is it time for that maybe it is maybe it's not that's when you need to check with your leader the lady who asked a question says sometimes i feel out of sorts and confused by the world around me and i think we all feel that i mean i think we all feel out of sorts and confused by the world around to bite us let me tell you this as straight as i can the only way you will survive that is by having people wrong to bite you who will look out for you and i feel sometimes a bit like a broken record if you don't have that either you move till you find it or you build it yourself and you build a company around about you who will sharpen and care and you train them in spiritual matters and you train them to be a safe place for one another we cannot go for much much longer going my church doesn't do that my church doesn't do this my church doesn't do this i think it's the thing i hear most my church doesn't my church doesn't my church doesn't shift or build it shift or build it there's just not the the time uh to waste uh uh uh you know not being supported and and failing to thrive because you don't have a place of sharpening sam do you want to read the next question yeah so we've got a few questions around the one issue or the what the one area that i think would be really good to speak into and so just read them the three of them together and then we can spend the next few minutes talking about that and the first one is um how do i pray for my prodigal son and particularly you've asked are there any scriptures that you would pray over him and that's by anna marie um great question and then men watson you've there asked about how do you be a believer and a family or the only believer in a family because it gets pretty tough so actually when the rest of your family isn't saved and then again deborah you've said how do you pray for your prodigal son some really good um questions there and before we ask that question i do think before we get into do's and don'ts it's important to admit that that is a tough situation and that actually particularly if you've been living with that burden for many many years not just months but many years that can burden you and wear you down and that actually the first prayer should always be that sense of even before sort this out for that person sort that person out god would you help my heart be well in the process god would you help my heart be well in the process because i know that i'm only the best version of myself for my family who are not saved when i and i can only be that when my heart is well and so we we often go you know change that person or heal that person what i would say is a first good prayer is god heal me and change me and give me strength because i know that out of my heart my life flows there's an abundance that comes out of the inside proverb says that over and over and over again and then actually if i'm in grief or in lots and lots and lots of pain or worry or anger that may spell out inadvertently but if i have hope and if i have healing and i have wholeness inside in my conversations then that will help now i don't have anyone in my immediate family that isn't saved but my uh one of my lifelong closest friends isn't a and once was uh saved them is no longer with the lord at the moment and i've walked this journey with them we are great friends but there's a couple of things that a that i pray really two things that i pray that that i that i believe are kind of gateways into what i believe will be just a moment of salvation for him and the first one is just a super simple one god i pray for godly friendships i pray for godly friendships to come into my friend's life whatever that may look like whether they are saved in themselves or there are those who will promote some sort of godly good principle in their life god i'm asking that you would bring godly friendships into his life into their life that there would be a sense of the presence of god around and the second thing that i would often pray particularly for this for a very certain type of a person and this individual has resisted change for many years as god i ask for brokenness and i know that sounds odd but god i ask for brokenness i ask for a coming to the end of their self that there will be a moment of brokenness there will be a moment of i have nothing left to give because i know that it's in brokenness and i know that it's in the coming to the end of one's self that there is always an opportunity for for there to be a conversation that leads them into your arms but i think as well you know as we're talking about ourselves consistency is so key and we see that with the prodigal son and the father you know his love was consistent and as readily available after the sun had been away as it was before that your love is consistent your love is good your love is eager to see them but god bring them godly friends and companionships and ask for brokenness and are coming to the end of their self very good sergeant yeah i would i would be um asking the lord this and i think it's a really good prayer to pray over those that are either lost or finding the way back to god is god set their internal compass north onto you onto the father onto the direction of the father onto the direction of his heart that their heart is pointing to your heart and so you can pray that god set their internal compass and i pray for a setting of their internal compass to you and that also goes with proverbs 16 9 it says the heart of a man plants his way but the lord establishes his steps and so you know establish my son or my daughters or my husbands on my wife's steps god to move towards you to take each determined step towards you knowingly or unknowingly and i think the other thing is we know that the enemy comes to deceive he comes to blind he comes to uh it speaks about that in scripture and you find the the scripture there in a moment and but that sense of the the enemy blinding uh people of this world and the god of this world if you will blinding people to god and so you can pray that again reveal god yourself to them let their eyes be unveiled let the eyes of their hearts be unveiled from the from the god of this world to know you the god who is their creator because let's be completely honest we all know our creator we are made in his image but you know many many have forgotten many have been disconnected and it's so it's almost like even when you're speaking in prayer to them remember your creator meet your creator you're made in his image and i think there's there's many times i'm sure we could all tell stories where we've learned the hard way i know i learned the hard way with somebody ideally loved in my life who kept saying to me sarah j will you stop trying to convert me you know because i was so passionate and so like come on all you need is jesus they'd be like right enough drawing a line i said okay and i did an internal conversation with myself i said right i'm going to put all my energy into praying for that person now i'm going to put all of my conversational um if you will effort into praying for that person and you know that person got saved and so that sense of actually prayer works guys prayer does work and so i'd encourage you if you're feeling frustrated if you're feeling ah i've said everything i've tried everything i've invited them to every church meeting and they won't come pray pray pray pray and it will bring a turning it will bring transformation yes i think what what's really important to remember in this is when you are the only christian in your family or when you want your son or daughter to come back to faith you are finally emotionally charged and right so and because of that high the stakes are high for you now because of that there is always a tendency to overdo it with ultimatums that you're going to be the voice that shapes them back that you're going to be the voice of conviction and what that tends to lead to is conflict and conflict con conflict and confrontation and a dis ease relationally i would say to you back up the track from trying to be the holy spirit to these family members only he is the convictor of sin you are not in a trainee holy spirit job and their salvation is not fully your responsibility it is a team effort you father son and holy spirit and the friends around about you and what i often say to people who are really stuck in that place is get other people to pray for your family members and you back off a little bit for a season and then you come back to praying for them but have moments where the burden is stewarded elsewhere so that you do not become peculiarly manic in desperation and do some old things that actually switch them off even further get a cohort round about you i think the other thing i would say in that is it is always the loving kindness of christ that brings repentance that is very clearly written down in scripture god's loving kindness brings us to repentance and so therefore the trying to point out where they are going wrong is a worsening not a more christ-like solution and therefore it is the consistency of kindness it is the did you hear me it is the consistency of kindness that often is the turning of people and the god often breaks people because he is more interested in their eternal destiny and relationship with him than he is in their immediate comfortableness and so you very often watch the comfort level of a searching person go to rock bottom in brokenness to turn them around if you are praying you are praying about their will and you are praying about their heart god turn their heart god shape their will god is already present you're not begging god to turn up he's already there you are praying heart and will because it is in the heart and the will that we turn our affections towards jesus and i would say be patient and be loving the more you create uh a highway of love to their hearts the easier it is for father god to get there because they have an open door to love and the more parents love wayward children the closer it enables god to be able to get to them because they know good good love uh of course god is love so i would say take a break share the burden find an ability in your heart to love with kindness not with uh rules and regulations and harsh demands and trust god that he wants their salvation more than you do and that you may not be the vehicle that brings the change it's actually quite unusual for the family member to be the vehicle that brings the change because too many things are loaded into those relationships i hope that that helps one more quick question sound you want to i think we have michelle's written in quite a lot of detail but she's got one about the laying on her hands yeah yeah on the second page and michelle smith um you've asked two questions actually and but i think the one about the lean on the fans is a great one um to land with and we'll hopefully get to some other of your questions if we don't have the time today and but in your longer question you've said what are your thoughts about the laying on of hands to grow an anointing and giftedness is it necessary or required and then that's a great question i know emma you've got a few things to speak into that but really quickly i could share um just personally that i think in a way that will illustrate really why we are so and for the laying on of hands and i mean it is because it's biblically a called a you know it's a basic biblical doctrine laying on off hands it should be a practice of our of of our churches more than it is but certainly for uh for me the two points that have been the single most defining points in my life as a prophet have been in the laying on of hands of others laying their hands on to me the first being when i was ordained uh with a with a christian international with jane and uh harm and apostle jane hammond tom hammond emma david and dr sharon stone ceregine and i were ordained at the same time and even the next morning at that conference after my ability to prophesy radically changed overnight because of the of what happened in the laying out of hands and then when i was called into the office of the prophet as a jedi by emma again a laying on of hands moment that became the hinge moment where my life completely utterly turned around and we now see anybody who's commissioned by us really into leadership needs to have their hands laid on them because we see how how important it is emma yeah let me read you the script the scripture hebrews 6 it's a while actually since i taught on this hebrews 6 therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about christ in other words look there are some basic things you should know about leave the basic things and go on to maturity not laying again the foundation of repentance from accident lead to death and a faith in god instruction about baptism and the laying on of hands and so it goes on and it puts the laying on of hands in hebrews 6 into the elementary or basic doctrines of the faith that we need to have an understanding of now if it's in hebrews 6 as a basic doctrine you would have thought that we actually should be taught maybe a little bit more that actually the laying on of hands is in scripture as a basic doctrine the same as repenting and resurrection and faith in christ and eternal judgment you know that it is at that level of power is at that level of foundation it's at that level of absolutely key set along the set alongside the same things as repentance and resurrection is that incredible because we would have said well yes repentance and resurrection i mean they are the big heavy hitters of the faith and yet hebrew six says no hang on a minute here you know the laying on the hands is equally uh large in its heavy hittingness as a foundation and elementary understanding in the body of christ so i don't try to unpack it because i think we've only got about two uh two more minutes uh left in this but what you find in first timothy 5 22 first timothy 5 22 is this do not be hasty in the laying on of hands really important that we don't just let anybody lay hands in this that's why i hate fire tunnels i have a whole soapbox on that do not be hasty in the laying on our hands i do not know who in a fire tunnel is laying hands at me on what their story is and i will not run into hastily being laid hands on okay why why why and do not share in the sins of others keep yourselves pure there is an understanding that the laying on of hands is a transition point for impurity it is very clear in first timothy 5 22 which is why before because we're talking about basic doctrines which is why before i go to the hairdresser or the dentist or the doctor or the place where somebody's going to lay hands on me you know massage that there is some kind of prayer of protection and just you know thoughtfulness that comes out of me that i want that what i carry of christ to infect them i do not want a transference of impurity by the laying on of hands really important then perhaps the the one that answers the question that the kind of the killer thought is in second timothy and second timothy it's chapter one verse six i've preached on this many times actually and it then says for this reason i remind you to fan into flame the gift of god so you're waking up the gift of god in you how did it get there which is in you through the laying on of hands and so the bible is very clear that there is a transference both of good and of yuck in the laying on of hands which is a basic understanding of how some things transfer in the kingdom and so therefore it is not just necessary but it is vitally important that those who are impure you know with pilot pollution and dilution you do not want an impartation from them but it is vitally important that you receive impartation of certain things particularly gifts because bizarrely bizarrely or maybe we should have thought it through more the kingdom of god operates in community the kingdom of god operates in family and the kingdom of god operates in physical interaction and physical codependence it operates even in marriage where to become one flesh as a sign of something that happens in heaven over our fusion with christ so therefore we must understand that hugs and embraces and holy kisses which are all through the oh the new testament and the laying on our hands are vitally important physical signs of the uh or physical parts of our community of believers where spiritual and emotional things happen in our physical human contact that is why destructive touch is so painful so i hope that answers the question lots more could be said on that uh but yes find good people to lay hands and impart and do not be hasty in receiving or giving the laying on of hands whoa important stuff well our time has gone for this q and a i think we're only at the beginning of page two in answering art that they're still like whoa but i hope you enjoyed although we weren't live it was certainly a fresh new stuff that we had not shared with you and bless you we will see you for more q a tomorrow bye [Music] so [Music] so [Music] you
