check because we are pre-recording this so that again we can be on a little bit of a holiday vacation annual leave this week so we have decided as with yesterday and the day before to answer all your glorious questions the pages of them i thought we'd get a lot further but we're uh going slowly i hope as for such meeting the answers let's see that so of course sam and sergey are with me and uh today as we record this in glasgow uh actually beginning of july man i know we must bore people by how often we talk about the weather but lord have mercy is we've got written warnings here and i was on the phone to somebody in new zealand they're saying oh you met this morning saying you must be enjoying your summer and i'm thinking look at this nobody can leave the house it's so torrential joe makes me laugh about that as well we i mean we've lived here our whole lives yeah every single time it ends up cold or wet we act as if we're surprised by it oh my goodness why is it raining it's like do you know what like 99 of my life in scotland has been rainy and cold so long but we always are it's a national past time isn't it talking about yes talking about the weather talking about the weather i have to say though guys i'm concerned because when we get good springs and it's been amazing amazing amazing we've had sun sun sun pretty much wall to wall since lockdown began and now the rain has started i'm concerned it's here for the month of july so we just need to banish that thought and banish those oh yeah yeah and yeah that we get actually a sunny sun sunshine because i i know we we're holidaying in scotland i know you emma are getting some sun somewhere else hopefully all being well and but sam and i are going to be holidaying staycationing so we have to have some sunshine in july please lord yeah i know actually jessica got and her confirmation my eldest uh yesterday for her university halls of residence she's starting in september and you know your mummy heart does that oh you're really going you know the horrible kind of process has begun and uh it's only another handful of weeks out of three children living in the house so i don't know i don't know how i'm gonna process that we will find out the beginning of september won't wait you know i'll be with you because it looks like thomas will also be leaving home probably around that time all being well for his plans and i i really feel the same it's like gonna kind of enjoy these weeks and also plan the visit so you'll be planning trips to the city where jessica's at university and we'll be planning catch-ups with with thomas when we can it's going to be a new world emma our babies our elders leaving the nest oh man for the oldest we love it we're like bye see ya like i'm so ready well i have come back but that is like that's inflicted upon by lockdown but that's true as i said to jessica what are you gonna what are you gonna cook you know and uh her ideas of what it's not my ideas because i thought she would grow into vegetables no so it's still a complete fight and at 17 years old she's nearly 18. she's still hiding her peas under her knife and fork thinking i won't see them yeah yeah you know you're nearly 18. we can see there's broccoli and peas hidden under your fork so i think she'll just live on cereal breakfast cereal i think that's going to be the word she loves strawberries a great grape strawberries and cereal that sounds good that's like sophie with granola yogurt and fruit that's her favorite thing at the moment as well and that's a lunch that's the lunch choice rather than you know breakfast um bizarrely um do you remember that urban myth actually david might be able to put us right on this and when we were at uni uh there was this urban myth that somebody lived on porridge for the whole time of being at university ended up with uh scabies isn't it scary that's the one that's the one and had made put it in a drawer and cut it up and ate off um like biscuit uh porridge oats for the whole year spent his um a student loan on going out and having fun uh it was in the brooms that's where he got that the brains i love the bruins um oh yes i used to practice my scottish accent reading it into tape recorder as a child i think i must have known that i was coming to scotland in the private chat here that was in the brooms for all of the uninitiated is uh like a cartoon character in scottish life and uh what would i liken it to i don't know dennis the menace that kind of thing yeah so yeah i think it probably was a cartoon urban and a cartoon urban myth though i could i could chicken and and we chicken in salad and there was some potatoes last night jessica came in late i said there's loads for you just go and heat it up and you can come and join us and she came through with her dinner she had ignored all the food i had cooked and just ate an entire planet of grapes um i mean the entire thing she says that's all i want an entire pond of grapes none of the chicken not for the potato none of the salad so uh yes lord of democracy i could over grapes any day [Laughter] anyway so uh shall we shall we dive into the questions rather than uh the food things our children do not eat uh right sam number one why don't you read it to us and we're gonna dive in totally so first question of today's power hour is from tonya ellington j and you've asked um really helpful question why can't i see jesus in the room and i think a lot of you have commented just at various points on our live power hours that you've struggled to see jesus in the room and and so great question to start with so why don't we uh i'll back that question over to our resident seer the one who who sees better than anybody else senator james common actually if you're asking this question why and it's not why can't i see jesus name although she's written those words it's just they i can't see in the spirit realm i can't see the angels i can't see anything all i see is bricks and mortar you know where's the spirit realm you know i know it's there but and uh there are a lot of top tips there are lots of top tips and i think this is the whole thing of this activation that we do when we get you to do um uh see jesus where is in the spirit realm is what tommy is asking where is jesus in the room and so there's a number of reasons that that could be and a number of them well first one is in very very rare situations and circumstances as we have trained people over the years there's probably one in every hundred of people that we train roughly it's not like a scientific experiment but this is just you know on the basis of training and teaching over the years where there might be one person who just cannot see and they will they will find it very challenging to see and they sense or they feel and they will see by feeling rather than seeing with their eyes what do i mean by that they might just kind of have a sense of oh there is an angel in the room or i know jesus is there and this is what he feels like and it's almost like a blind person might see something by feel and by touch that is very very rare when we're training people but it could be you it could be you but most commonly most commonly there are other blockages and other reasons and so we might say and we'll go into some of these depending on our time and how we all want to go here the the first reason could be there's a spirit of fear and the fear and spirit is very strong it will block any of our senses spiritually from opening up so you first of all have to deal with the spirit of fear we can talk about that the second one would be there could be some open doors generationally and the word of god is very clear in numbers and deuteronomy that if there has been worship of other gods generationally then that can open up doors to curses and so you want to deal with generational curses that are being opened by your previous generations your great great great grandfathers great great grannies and great great uncles and aunts possibly um worshiping other gods that could be through other religions or it could be through other organizations like freemasonry that pretend to be um if you will worshipping our our christian god but actually don't so there's a sense of you could be opening up doors and you could have been opened to curses through that and they could have also been involved in the occult so they could have been involved in witchcraft mediumship new age or they might have gone and got their tea leaves read by a gypsy you know all these areas could have opened up doors that bring blockages another thing um could be emotional there might be emotional hurt emotional trauma emotional pain that just causes a blockage uh and almost disables you from engaging in the spirit realm and so those are kind of what i would say would be the the areas that would be the most obvious that we could now dive more deeply into i think i think that would be helpful um and let me just show an example this this is you it's this is all that i have to hand so just go with it okay this is you you are a whole thing okay and in this whole thing of you there is the spiritual dynamic the uh the spirit that's alive to christ your ability to see and feel and connect in the spirit world but then there's also the kind of greek didactic you know side of you the roman side of you which is about learning and information and head knowledge and so what happens in our education systems is the education system rips you into like that and it says your knowledge bit is going to fill the screen and i'm deliberately holding it close to the camera the bit of you that's greek and roman the bit of you that that really raves about examination and uh filling your mind with information that's going to be the bit that we prioritize in our education systems and it's going to come so strong over the lens of your life that you cannot see anything else and this other little bit of piece of paper back here gets smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller the bit of you that is about your spirit man and so we find ourselves separating and rather than being a whole person who navigates the spirit and navigates the the information and natural world we split and divorce those two and people i find who have very uh information orientated jobs very logic jobs which is great particularly people like accountants who think logically bookkeepers who think logically they very often their spirit bit you know is so eroded because this must be a a i wish i'd written on these pages now but you get what i'm saying so i think one of the first prayers is god would you make me whole and what has been split in me would you bring back together so that i can both celebrate being a spirit being and being in the world being a natural physical flesh being would you make me whole would you collide and rejoin the two so that i can be in the spirit but i can also be in the natural and so that's the first prayer god make me whole and enable me to navigate both realms because i could guarantee and actually the people when i say or you say sarah james usually your eye we're saying when we train this are you not seeing it who's not seeing who's not seeing and there's loads of hands that go up i'm not seeing it's usually the people who have been really um harshly educated or are in super uh scientific type jobs not always but usually where that spirit dynamic has really been trained not by you but trained by the education systems to be completely shut down or the employment system so that's the first player prayer make me whole join me together so that the spirit and the natural um are i can navigate easily both and i don't feel like two different people that'd be the first thing i was and that applies to visions dreams seeing in the spirit revelation prophecy hearing the voice of god you know even the gift of tongues uh it is in that spirit bit that we we separate so this is a good entry prayer make me whole and balance the spirit with the natural in my body so that i can navigate both realms that'll be your first prayer sergeant let's deal with that fear thing because that's massive they go i want to see i don't want to see i want to see yes i want to see you know like you're all excited absolutely and i think that comes from what you're saying there about the lack of knowledge or the fear-based teaching in the church of don't touch that realm because it's it's it's assigned to the new age and i think that you know the the new age the occult have taken it have distorted it but they've counterfeited what actually is authentically originally truthfully in scripture is ours as the people of god is access to that whole fully blown and smell taste everything in the spirit realm that is accessible and available to us and so once we've done the education and said this is actually available to you as christians it's in the book read the book etc then it's the oh some people's experiences because of that connection to the new age or because of what we said about generational stuff and they may be seeing the dark side first you know they may be seeing demons and other things and so fear can come from that and that may be your experience as you're watching this that um somebody in your generation or even yourself you may have dabbled in uh occultic stuff at the low end maybe you as a teenager uh practiced a ouija board just for fun and inverted commas and found yourself uh involved in seeing and experiencing the dark side or you may have had somebody in your generational line or currently in your family who's involved in mediumship or spiritualism or or new age practices or even perhaps tm uh transcendental meditation something like that where the realm of the spirit has been opened to you or in your family line generationally that accesses the spirit realm to see things that are not the pure that are not um of god and of the holy spirit and so the first thing is and that if you if that's you and you're afraid because of what you have seen or because of what you think you might see because of the greek thinking the religious thing um you you then need to pray prayers of uh breaking agreement and acknowledging the fact that you've you've partnered with the spirit of fear and so the spirit of fear does a really good job of projecting what i would call demonic mirrors to make you feel like i'm gonna see things that are scary therefore i'm gonna shut down my spiritual senses beca because i'm afraid of what i that might open uh to me that i may see that i may experience an encounter and so we want to break agreement with uh the spirit of fear and acknowledge that the spirit of fear is something that blows up with these demonic mirrors or magnifying glasses and makes things seem uh in our mind's eye and even in our own selves overwhelming and i'm just going to shut that down because i don't want to see it and interestingly i mean emma you've written a book on the spirit of fear freedom from fear and i think i would you know if people have a real if people have a a they know that's a problem you know that's a problem watching and it's a stronghold in your life i recommend this book because there's great activations freedom from fear by emma stark available on amazon great book very short you can read it in like two hours um and go through the activations it's so helpful emma but i think we have to acknowledge the fact that actually the spirit of fear from the enemy's arsenal is the one that cr that locks up the church that just says don't touch that oh you don't want to go there oh it's dangerous oh it's scary and it's dark i'm going to see things of the demonic and actually yes you may but actually for a purpose and for a reason as we seek first the face of jesus and as we seek first his kingdom which you know is the way that we teach this and so i would say um dealing with this spirit of fear is is a key and i would want to probably lead you in a prayer for that and just now but um guys do you have anything you want to add about the spirit of fear i'm sure you do emma having written a whole book on it well i'd actually forgotten i'd written the book so you said it that was the beginning of lockdown oh my gosh i just haven't read a book and forgot about no it's a great it's a great book we really do need our our holiday dough you may need to keep um the the prayers against you're fairly consistent uh uh because you resist the devil and he will flee you if you have that as a habitual lifestyle and uh then it it it's going to have to be a habit that you kill it it will have come in by habit it will need to go out by habit uh and so the top tip would be i bind and i break agreement with the spirit of fear and you may have to do that on a daily basis and then as that will enable sometimes the walls uh to fall down between the natural and supernatural so that you go oh yeah i think some of us are more fearful than we realize yes lead us in those prayers and then assad talk about habit actually the place of habit with this to develop yeah so if you repeat after me sam maybe you could be my repeat to help people uh repeat after me because this is a very much you will some of you will be very aware of where you've partnered with the spirit of fear in this and you'll be thinking absolutely i know that i have i don't want to see the demonic etc etc others of you it may be something more subtle and so either way i would encourage you to pray this prayer so that you can break any um any area where that spirit of fear has come in on the back of seeing and feeling and experiencing and sensing in the spirit so let's repeat father in the name of jesus father in the name of jesus i repent renounce and break agreement with i repent renounce and break agreement with the spirit of fear and all its associated demons the spirit of fear and all is associated demons i ask for your forgiveness i ask for your forgiveness where i've partnered with and had a relationship with the spirit of fear where i've partnered with and had a relationship with the spirit of fear and then i choose to unhook myself from all of its claws and then i choose to unhook myself from all of its claws and every place it's imprisoned me and every place it has imprisoned me so as you do that when we pray for you so in the name of jesus we come and we cut off every claw of the spirit of fear where it's hooked itself into you where it has boxed you in where it has built a um almost like a coffin-like structure around you and we agree with you now for a breaking out of every machination of the spirit of fear every verbal word every false demonic mirror and reflection that that spirit of fear has built around your life we break it in the name of jesus we command that thing to be gone and to be broken in jesus name and as we're praying these prayers i want you to almost put your hands on it because it looks like to me like a structure that has been around you just you put your hands on it and we agree now now for breaking it off we break you out we break you out of that structure in jesus name and for some of you you're going to have to almost it feels like a glass coffin a demonic coffin so you're gonna get your elbows and say i'm breaking out i'm coming out of that in jesus name i'm breaking agreement with fear we break the shackles off your feet we break the the mindsets of fear from off you we smash them in jesus name say come out of every place of fear in the name of jesus every place the enemy has held you captive we pull you out and we break off every tie every demonic time whether it be generational whether it be uh personal and of the moment we just cut every tie right now in the name of jesus christ you get off the d1's of the church you get off them right now in the name of jesus and we pull you to freedom we say spirit of fear you may not have them spirit of fear you are diminished and diminishing and you may not have the dear ones watching this in jesus name we unhook you right now every mindset and i want you to put your hand on the back of your head right here where your optic nerve is in the natural but we say right now we speak out alignment to the spiritual site we speak an alignment and a freedom from fear we say every distortion that has come in the spirit or in the natural you may have watched horror movies you may have watched or have images in your mind that are just from the imagination we speak a heavenly order and alignment we say spirit of fear get off their optic nerve we unhook it right now in jesus name we say you may not have their sight and we pull off all those lenses of fear that have come in in the spirit and in the natural and we break it and we break agreement with it and i want you to say i break agreement with the spirit of fear in all forms and all of its demons i say i break agreement right now in jesus name thank you god amen and where that spirit of fear has sat we loose back to you the weight of the glory of god as the exchange that is off the holy spirit rushes in and you just need to say i receive the feeling of the spirit you just arrive over yourselves right now i receive the holy spirit to fill that place that fear has sat in and in the name of jesus where fear has been the wall between the natural and the supernatural between the natural and the spiritual we bring it down right now yeah clarity come clarity come right now in jesus name we speak a focus and a sharpness and an insight and a sight of the spirit that is so clear without distortion in jesus name amen amen the element of practice here massive massive part it's a massive part of using any spiritual gift that's so important i mean as an example when you know for those of you that are parents or grandparents when you teach a child to speak you know as an infant do you expect them immediately speak profession english or their own your own pr your own language proficiently no you don't you expect a word and then a sentence and then sounds and then another word and then a sentence then sound you don't expect paragraphs and prose all in one and sometimes you shut yourself down to sight because when you close your eyes you are not seeing in the spirit the way that you see in the natural and your expectation is to see the deep deep super detailed things when actually saying no i need to train you and you need to train yourself in the beginning uh stages particularly if it's something that you've either shut down or you've never experienced before so practically here are some top tips that i would give a to you i would say rather than starting with full-blown spiritual sight with you know completely filled in images and pictures start with descriptions if you cannot see god what do you describe to me what do you look like get a sense what are you what what's and describe to my spirit what you're like in the spirit and though you may not see immediately that description can start to paint an image on your mind god show me a color oh i can only see yellow oh great you're seeing something they got bring shape to that color yellow what shape is it in why is it in that shape god what movement is around you how is it moving what does it mean and that rather than jumping into the deep end where you're seeing um philly are expecting actually that you'll see you know angels in full form and you'll see spirit beings in full form and gardens and homes and and buildings and structures in full form start in the descriptions on the color zone the shape zone the movement zone and i think we've also got to understand that god's language is not one-dimensional like ours so my language is literally just words so you hear me through what i'm saying right now but we read from scripture that his voice is like the sound of many waters we read from scripture that his voice feels like something as well as looking like something that god communicates through so many avenues and so spiritual sight is yes about seeing but it's also about feeling and participating and encounter as well and sometimes that is the beginning place god let me feel how you're moving let me sense how you're moving and in that zone of feelings and senses and descriptions your mind's eye starts to catch up with what your spirit is experiencing and that's where sight starts to come in to play so i would say you know cut yourself some slack don't you know disqualify yourself when the first time you ask for sight you close your eyes and you don't see anything and do not think for a moment that that means that you're not meant to see actually there's a path of practice and training that you're meant to go on so every day you know if this is something that you really want to grow in give 10 15 minutes every day jesus i want to see you describe to me what you look like and every day challenge yourself push yourself beyond what you saw or you felt the day before and as you give yourself to practice as you give yourself to crafting and to sharpening the gift what you see will develop the quickness of sight will develop your ability to interpret will develop and you'll get to that place where sight is something that is a hugely proficient in your own life so practice start with descriptions start with colors start with shapes and enjoy the process of encounter and feeling and sensing as well in that journey yeah very good and i think if if the question where is g where is jesus in the room is a good start it's why how i raised my children where is jesus in the room now if that is like oh my goodness what a terrifying question you know i'm going from never seeing to suddenly the face of god i would start with other questions jesus what are you doing in the room uh jesus what do i need to know about how you're navigating this room and those kind of questions which just are leading questions to help you work your way into the place where spiritual sight is normal now questions are are the biblical or the biblical standard so all the way through daniel 7 daniel is asking questions or he's looking again i looked again i looked again it says that many times the sense of daniel in in receiving sight in receiving revelation is not in some kind of passive form he's in an active engage i'm looking i'm looking i'm intent about this you know i'm focusing i'm turning my head to make sure i've seen the whole thing you know there is this sense of participation okay so don't think oh it will land on my it's not going to land on your lap it is robust engagement it's robust participation so lots and lots of questions you know what are you doing jesus why are you doing that in this room jesus what colors are you wearing ah where are you and suddenly the sight switches on it's it's it's not rocket science it is practice and good question asking after you dealt with the fear and the other issues lots more to me could be said on that i think we'll move on to next again we're like in one question the next question does link into that i think it deepens it other than just sight though it applies into other areas with and you've asked this how do you overcome a constant doubt of hearing his voice and you said that really you feel that you're having that there's a lack of encounter and that you feel distant in your relationship with god despite reading scripture a lot you're praying lots and you're worshiping and i think great question and that's that is a tough question that i think many of us have battled with and gone through at different points in life that particularly i think that feeling of distance and and the battle of you know god you said you're emmanuel you're god with us you're meant to be right next to me but i don't always feel that so emma what would you say in response to that question for sarah who's in that struggle just now oh so many things where'd you start yeah i was brought up uh with a family who listened um uh two cassette tapes and uh uh one particular artist whose name is just completely gone out of my head david who was it you actually hosted him with the the christian orchestra the older minstrel i'm hoping he's going to type in the private comments because his name is just completely gone he was such a backdrop of michael card there there's a guy who's not michael carter you know he's a little bit he's thankful thanks a husband who knows and genuinely was brought up on michael carr's music though it doesn't sound like there was a troll there for a moment and he says this could it be you make your presence known so often by your absence could it be you make your presence known so often by your absence could it be that questions tell us more than answers ever do could it be you make your presence known so often by your absence and the joy of that that though we want to live in the mountaintop with god though that is the cry of our hearts there are times where god says you've got to come dying from the mountain and actually you've got to know what it is sometimes to wrestle when i feel absent and that actually that is part and parcel of the journey and that we do not all live in that tip-top peak condition and the processes of god are wild and strange and in his unrelenting unyielding goodness to us sometimes he hides that we may grow in hunger that we may yearn greater in determination to seek him that he provokes something in us by absence on occasions and by distance is he right with you yes he is but sometimes he hides and the word of god says it's the glory of god to hide a matter it's the glory of kings to search it out i think those are awful seasons when we feel distant they are heart-wrenching seasons but sometimes it is only in the process of the absence of the feeling of the or the perception of the absence of god that i grow the capacity to steward more of him that i must joy in the journey when he feels distant that that and i must not partner with despair knowing that he is training me in things that can only be trained on a live battle grind that i do not fight uh in other way if i'm not on a live battleground in the same way you know and so i i would say to those of you who are who are in that place god bless you to learn the lessons of that place and to pray these prayers god teach me quickly god teach me quickly what i need to know in the absence so that i may reconnect with you again and that's just a good life prayer god teach me quickly none of us want to learn lessons two or three times none of us want to have to do resets of examinations of god none of us want to go round the mountains again god teach me quickly what i did not learn last time what you are teaching me in this perceived distance and it will it will do it will it it will be to do with the goodness of god not a punishment it will it's to do with the goodness of god increasing you in those moments to steward the next thing that he has got for you could it be you make your presence known so often by your absence and we would love to live in the sunshine we would love to live you know sipping coke drinks on hot days on deck chairs and lighters you know wouldn't we we would love that kind of but sometimes you know you are alive in the chill of an icy wind on a winter's day sometimes when your teeth are chattering and the storm is raging all about you it is then that you know you're alive it is then sometimes that you know who you are and whose you are in those moments and so it is part of the of the ebb and the flow of a god who loves his people to find ourselves with choices in places where god appears far off um really good do you want to deal with the constant doubt of hearing his voice her for the first half of that question yeah i mean i think i think that's that's that's something that lots of people um battle with certainly you know our first thing we see that's all the time our first top tip is always uh having that lifestyle of practice where you're you're creating space for him to speak but i also think uh you know the greatest way into having more faith over his voice is having this book inside of you and having scripture and truth written on your heart and when you have scripture in your heart this becomes a solid foundation for the revelatory words of christ to be poured out onto and any word really we say you know all prophecy all revelation is a word from the word so everything we hear you know by the prophetic by the revelatory words of god is out of this book anyway it comes out of this these pages so it is and having this written on your heart that there will be greater faith to believe what he says to you but also what i would say is that faith is growing when this is written in your heart but faith to believe what god is saying is also grown in the context of community and what being with other people or having relationship with others who are practicing hearing his voice does to your insides is remarkable and it sharpens you it stretches you it encourages you it releases faith to you and so in that place of constant doubt of hearing his voice you get around others who are practicing here and that is eliminated even just by being in a company where you can start to go oh my goodness i heard that too and you heard that maybe i am hearing god and oh my goodness you've just got that second part to the word that i was carrying or i think i know what that tongue means or that dream means or that vision means and there's other people that you are alike and there's other people that you're bonded with and even just by getting into that place of relationship with other people on the same journey you eliminate that doubt so get this written on your heart gets truth written on your heart but get into community you know and we're in that day and age now you know physical community is important but we're in you know there's a limitation over geographical gatherings connect with people online if you can as well start to build that and start to have a place where you can steward at your own at practicing hearing the voice of god and doubt will very quickly uh have um have no place no foothold in your life to stand in question excellent sir jane yeah just a couple of thoughts on the back of what sam's saying i think that actually um we have to trust god and we have to trust that we hear his voice because the word of god says that that you know jesus said all my sheep know my voice therefore we know the voice of god and to trust that we hear god's voice and actually a really practical way of doing that is to uh position yourself each day whatever time of the day it suits you but to say god what is it you're saying to me personally today and to write it down and to just write down what you're you're hearing the lord say straight away and we do this activation so much in our one-on-one prophetic schools that actually this is the the highest form of hearing the voice of god for yourself as we would say prophetically and all of us practice that regularly to say god what is it you're actually saying to me today to put yourself in that position of hearing and practicing it but if you are really struggling to discern what's my voice what's god's voice what's the enemy's voice and maybe you've had emotional turmoil recently or maybe you've had something in your life that has caused you to to feel unsure and you're you're you're not certain that and maybe it's background as we talked about earlier and you're coming out of um a different spiritual dynamic and so i would say to you practice this activation which is super helpful and go you would ask god what does your voice sound like and how do you speak to me and and then you hear and you listen now for those of you that are seers you will feel it coming from a different direction than what the next two questions are and you will feel it emotionally in a different way than you will hear the next two questions so the next two questions are god let me hear my voice and what does it sound like internally and the third one is what does the enemy sound like and where you know and and how do i feel when he speaks to me and so there's actually this sense of for many seers for sure they they can see it coming and feel it coming from a different direction so it's actually again training your senses to know where does my internal voice come from what does it sound like where does the enemy's voice come from what does it sound like it's always condemning you know it's always it's always um making us feel small making us feel limited making us feel less than we are and our human voices is usually got occasionally got a bit of doubt in it we're either over overly confident humans or we're under confident humans and our human spirit voice can sound very much one or the other and then god's voice which is the clearest the most um assuring reassuring voice the one that builds us up that is always edifying that is always convicting and not condemning and so i would encourage you just to practice that activation and to to discern more clearly those three voices that would be in that context of discerning of spirits the human voice our own voice god's voice and the devil's voice i have to say sarah 24081 partly i want to sing that song from les miserables uh yeah in the pre with the numbers after his name yes i would just want to give you a big hug i mean that's reality for somebody to say how do you overcome constant doubt man you just need a leader to give you a hug and to affirm who you are so i can't do that in person but let me affirm who you are that's what i'd be doing to you if you were in my church to affirm who you are to affirm that you do hear his voice and then i tell you what i'd be doing next if you came and asked me that question in person i would be grabbing hold of the spirit of doubt that sits on your shoulders where you have doubted yourself all your life and i would be killing it and pulling it off you so in the name of jesus every spirit of doubt that that sits as a lying voice whispering in ears sitting on shoulders where you indict yourself you doubt your spiritual capabilities you doubt the voice of god you you doubt whether you're gifted you don't whether you're called you doubt your future in the name of jesus i loose the fire of god on that spirit and say you are burned to wonder in jesus name and you are free from doubt right now in jesus name and i lose you to be one with a certainty inside your being that you are called that you are chosen that you are appointed and with a certainty because you know christ that you hear his voice in jesus name now sarah24081 this feels like a lack of community that's why i feel like i want to hug you yeah go find some friends to test your words and to help you uh become uh you know supported in your journey of hearing the voice of god okay sam number three number three we've got three questions we always try and get through about six and we always get through three i think we just like to talk don't we but we like to go deep i think it's good we're not getting superficial you know sticking plaster questions that's why i was like so shanna steiner i think your your surname is you've asked a few questions but i'll start with the first one uh just so we can discuss that then see where we end up so how does one know when they are operating from under another person's anointing only and so how does he how do you know you're only operating under someone else's anointing to say about this yeah yeah i can feel a little silk box coming out so she goes on to say when an intercessor speaks teaches leads their power authority and gifting is like an umbrella and the whole group can intercede that is true a gifted leader shadows an atmosphere yes thing was seer same with dreamers how as emerging students can we discern which is our are lame to run in uh the first the first thing is yes i think you are right to acknowledge that uh we we have pastors who say to us uh i really want to come to your building to write my sermon because there's an anointing for hearing the voice of god and i'll write my sermon better i love that you know and so we do shadow each other with anointings uh particularly those that are very established and mature that god has trusted a great weight of that anointing onto a particular life and then suddenly if you're sitting with an evangelist you're like i'm gonna win 26 souls for jesus before breakfast you know so we we do get that and that's part of why god puts the five-fold in ephesians together apostle prophet evangelist shepherd teacher ephesians chapter four those five full ministers are put together as the leadership of the body of christ and they shadow each other so when i'm in a leadership meeting and i'm going all apostolic prophetic you know my dad who's the shepherd he's shadows the conversation with his anointing where he goes and i am let's talk about the sheep in a different way you know so what we do and we sharpen each other by the shadowing and that's just good practice and there's a beauty to that now here's where my little soapbox comes out because i have heard this used in really rude and ugly ways oh if you ever leave my ministry you're gonna fail because my anointing keeps you in place it's only my anointing you know that that you have in your life you don't have one of your own you pathetic you know waif and stray you're nothing with like me now maybe i've overstated that but i have had to excuse me counsel a fair number of people over the years who have had that sort of leadership that that almost dictatorial oppressive and you know you're nothing without me control and if that is you i break those lies off you right now in the name of jesus you are all anointed you gotta hear me on this you are all anointed you are all appointed you are all chosen you are all gifted you have jesus in you the same as anybody else does there are gifts in you that god has given you uniquely he did not make a mistake with you he did not give you the drags he did not give you the leftovers he did not give you a diluted version of himself you have an anointing and if somebody is telling you that you don't or you're that you're nothing without them that is control and manipulation and we expose it right now in jesus name and say that you are liberated right now from that controlling spirit and start to breathe the free air because you have the ability to be used by god for who you are not for who somebody else is that's my first thought now do you want to answer the question because we'd answer this question in several different late ways sam sergey do you want to jump in hmm sure i i just was thinking as emma was talking um about two occasions um in scripture one when moses lays the hands on the 70 elders and the other when um paul and team in acts 8 are laying hands on an imparting holy spirit and so i recognize that we are all called set apart and anointed by god for specific works some in the in the office of the five-fold and everybody by the spirit of god and by the gifts of the spirit by the fruit of the spirit and by the calling of god that is unique on our lives but i think we we see from scripture in the modeling of scripture that um that god recognizes individuals in specific ways and so therefore leaders acknowledge that there is something on specific people for specific roles and so if you're thinking uh or feeling like i feel like i'm i'm supposed to be leading something or beginning something or pioneering something and there's that sense of actually leaders acknowledge other leaders and lay hands on them and release impartation as moses did to the elders in the tribe but then there's also this sense of actually the holy spirit is for everybody and we're all anointed and appointed where we are as influencers as pioneers as those who advance the kingdom of god and so i think you know some of us um get stuck in that and i and i see that time and time again where people are thinking well i feel like i'm supposed to be leading something i feel like i'm supposed to be doing something but you know am i anointed and appointed for it and there's that sense of actually all you need is an encouragement on a conversation with a leader that that you trust that you um have a relationship with that you can say hey you know my life you know my story you see me you know you see how i how i work how i live you see you know me in meetings you know um that i'm anointed in specific areas what would you say to this thought or this idea that god has given me and to almost test that to test that expansion to test that anointing if you will that you feel you have but as emma says if you're under a leader who is saying you're only anointed because i'm i'm anointed and you don't have any then it's time to and get out of get out of that situation and find and pray for a leader that you can work with and so yeah the the numbers and the numbers scripture i'm thinking of and that sense of actually were all called we're all appointed we're all anointed for something specific within the context of our mandated area of life and that god has given us and we all have different spheres of influence so let's take this the final thought on this before you go on sam at the moment is is david so we see david who's given his shepherding uh and his flock to take care of and then god is entrusting him in that and he does a great job he trusts the lord he prays to the lord he gives it all the glory to the lord and then god moves him on and then he gets his mighty men and then he becomes the the king of judah then he becomes the king of israel this process of of faithfulness with and stewarding the anointing and the call that god has given him and we see that expansion plan on his life you see in joseph's life as well in this sense of if you're faithful and we talked about this earlier the faithfulness even in the difficult times when you're faithful with god and he is always faithful to us but when we're faithful in what god has given us to steward there is an expansion plan so if you're thinking i'm not anointed for anything i've not been given anything to steward you have what you have you have your work you have your family you have your context of relationships wherever you are steward that well and god will give you the expansion plan in his timing as you steward it well yeah really good yeah i mean i think there's a couple of things that can be said but i would just like to say um this to to those of you who are thinking of a of a similar question but you are made in the image of god and you are filled with the spirit of god you are a home for the holy spirit a temple of the holy spirit and there is so much anointing in you already just by those two scriptural truths that you carry so much by being made in the image of god and by being a home for the holy spirit and you have such a unique design and that you only you can carry and steward certain things because of who you are and when you are under authority let me say this to you it is not to limit you or shut you down but the joy of being under authority and under leadership and submitted to authority there is three things that i would submit as i'm sure there's more but being under authority provides three things for you it provides safety it provides growth and it provides challenge and accountability that actually you bring the bigness of the anointing and the call that you are you come under authority and it doesn't limit you you don't become in some way wrongly dependent but you get to grow safely under that place of authority and leadership because your anointing comes under their anointing and there is a great holy spirit godly dynamic that starts to form in that sort of relationship and and actually sometimes these questions they come from i think a fear of coming out of authority but they also come out of insecurity over but am i even significant do i even carry anything unique they're actually in that sort of question underneath that there is that sense of insecurity over but am i really called by god and that is something that you explore i think with yourself and the holy spirit god what have you put in me show me what you put in my god not in an arrogant sort of way but god i don't want to limit you because i limit myself i don't want to miss out on a journey that you've got for me because i don't realize what you put on me so god show me what you've put inside of me and the joy of good biblical leadership is that when you get under that what is put inside of you gets to grow safely and gets to grow quickly because of that and there is that dynamic and so where there is and i know emma you prayed about that but where there has been a sense of you're you feel like your future has been stolen because of a mesh use of authority on your life we just stop that now and put back in your hands what is yours because you're made in the image of god and you are a home for the holy spirit in jesus name amen let me just finish off with it with an additional thought on that shanna you know if you were coming to sit with me i'd be giving you some written homework and i think what we find in the church and i'll give it to all of you watching what we find in the church is that we we understand that we need to serve and so we we we plug lots of gaps and we serve here in here and here and we're actually almost used to serving in areas that don't bring us alive uh just because it needs done and because we actually have a healthy sense of responsibility and so we we run to plug somebody else's gap so you hear my dog barking over my shoulder it's because we've got probably a delivery man at the door with who knows what uh but yes anyway so so we plug gaps and and and we do that generously and because we want to people please but when we've done that for so many years we actually forget what brings us alive and so i would be asking you the question to go and write a list uh shanna and others what brings you alive what brings you alive do you know and so when you're looking at different ministry areas and different calls you measure that not from a sense of duty and not from a sense of i ought to do this but you measure your heart's response to what brings me alive and and that will give you a really robust understanding of where you should be serving and all of the the great thinkers on spiritual gifts and actually even just in um skill set use in the wider outside of the church world if you are operating they reckon outside of your top three capabilities your top three strengths you will feel exhausted and worn out and burnt out and there then comes the need to steward resentment and that sense of eye roll and cynicism because you never quite get to arrive and so that you're not stewarding exhaustion and fatigue and cynicism and disappointment you you have a responsibility to operate and to know what your top three strengths are or calls are so that you stay within the place where you are most anointed most capable and most clearly blessed by god and you know that by answering the question what brings me alive so i would i would get a whole list of things because sometimes we're so dull to that we don't even know what hobbies bring us alive or what has just become a habit do i like baking or do i not do i like prophesying or do i not do do i like serving the tea and coffee or do i not you know do i like cycling uh on a bicycle or do i not and we become so habitual uh and so uh loaded with false responsibility sometimes we don't actually even know ourselves well enough so if you were sitting in my office with me i would give you a pen and paper and i'd say sit there for 20 minutes and do this homework what brings you alive and you'd you'd find out fast enough which is your ministry lane or area to run in well well our r has gone another
