all right bless your hearts good day to you welcome to the Shepherd's chapel welcome this family Bible study our praise God it's good to see you it's good to get back into our father's word what an interesting chapter on what an interesting book the second Samuel as you see David let's talk about David again a moment David who was probably the most loyal of all God's servants up until he committed those two sins to take a man's wife and then to have the man murdered and then after that though God spared his life everything was downhill and the loss of his son Absalom the grief that he bear was his firstborn his firstborn but in that he slided all of the troops that had helped him defeat Absalom David has one nephew Joab that has been very loyal and Joab finally took it upon himself to say get up from there stop weeping the whole bunch of us could have been killed and you wouldn't be weeping but it is much as the enemy the one that tried to to take advantage of you is dead now you treat the rest that way Joab moving way out of the place of the servant as he speaks to the king dear one I want to tell you something if you have the ability to understand the emotions of all people involved even our Heavenly Father in part you'll never be able to understand all of his emotions but if you can understand how the people felt emotionally if you understand how Joab felt emotionally and all the truths and probably also how David felt emotionally at the loss of the son concerning his troops and with that deep seated knowledge of knowing this was brought upon him by God himself and to understand that all things ultimately work to the positive that God brings upon our people and our individuals that there is a lesson in it for us if you can understand those lessons those emotions then I tell you this your your working your way very close to filing the last gap I will never do that but the last notch on the key to David because you're beginning to understand God's overall plan you're about to become a mature Christian because rather than damming this person or that you understand now there's nothing wrong with damning the devil and his servants because they are damned but to understand the feelings of the people so we have a very heated moment as we go back into this lecture this day with Joab dressing his uncle down and because Joab loved David so much that he could correct him even though he could cost him his life I I'm sure that he felt that David would spare his life for it was Joab that David sent a special message to concerning the Hittites to get him up to the wall and run off leaving let them kill him it was Joab that followed out the order to murder the man David is paying the price for so we see many factions of life woven into this act that came down upon all the people of Israel but if you are enough man or woman using common sense and not being a nitpicker understand what I'm saying but if you see someone about to destroy themselves and they have the courage to stand up to them and give them advice under the conditions that Joab is then you're a true friend indeed though they may turn on you and Rindge of that is still true love it is the same way with a priest or a teacher one that teaches God's Word and leaving leaving no one in scathed that deserves the word and the wrath of our Father as he corrects his children there will be some that dislike that very much but there is indeed more love within that act of honesty that is to say correction then there isn't soft soaping and stroking things pleasing to man and simply having a kegger in the flesh and singing it over with lather as frosting on a cake the canker is still there so there's a great deal to be learned and when to help a friend when to help a brother when day up one that you truly dearly love joy I've decided this was the time so he dresses the King down he said here you you are insulting the very people that you are supposed to be responsible for let's pick it up in chapter 19 verse 7 as Joab continues dressing his uncle down and I imagined that Joab was thinking this is my precious beloved uncle and was not looking at him necessarily as the King when he walked this rowling accusation against david it was every word was true listen to it as we continue verse seven now therefore arise understand this is a a commanding chief of the armies telling the king get up arise and go forth and speak comfortably into thy servants don't stop this crying moping or a blazar Absalom Absalom and speak comfortably in other words tell them you're proud of them rather than acting that you're angry because they killed your no-good son speak comfortably into thy servants for I swear by the Lord I tell you this is true if thou go not forth there will not tarry one with these this night you won't have one subject and that will be worse unto thee then all the evil that befell thee from thy youth until now and hey that would have been quite a bit or David had no one trouble from Saul and so forth oh dear beloved listen to me recognize the weakness of man can you look at David here a moment weeping and sobbing with loyal troops yes as long as the one was he sent to his death and David because of his own guilt you might say what guilt guilt of murdering gift and taping guilt of taking Bathsheba guilt of his own sins he's lost his way of reasoning to rule and that's what God wants you to see for this man wanted a king they wanted a king they can see and God told them you do not want a flash King man cannot rule I am your king and they refused God as a king but you can see that and sooner or later there's no one perfect though I dare say David came close until his two great sins and after sin bites you after Satan gets that grip on you then guilt conscience regrets will infringe upon your mind and its capability of being just to all the people all the time that deserve justification I didn't say to be just to the sinner no to be just to the thief no yes be just they deserve what they get but to have the wit about them to dole out justice as it is seen fit this thing that David has done that Joab is saying get up get up go to your people or you're not going to have any left David was not acting like a king all he was was a wretched father of a flesh man that was carried in by the emotion of the fact that it was on his own sin that brought Absalom to the place it was an ad film already having killed another son of his how weak flesh is it cannot maintain its course after having the trip that David's flesh body has had wasn't easy being mistreated from the time he was brought from the sheep pole basically a true hero of the people after having killed Goliath but then being hunted by the very King you killed him for no one giving thanks you would think that David would be the last in the world that would turn his back and not be thankful for his subjects that had stood with him so let the lesson in your mind be flesh is weak I don't care who the man is that our king is Joshua Messiah the son of the Living God that we have one King yevette and flesh cannot rule verse eight then the King arose and said in the gate took his advice but he didn't say a word he didn't say I appreciate that nephew he simply got up and went to the gate you know what he's holding a grudge is it it isn't often that a person can take criticism especially when it stings because it's true okay went to the gate and they told unto all the people saying behold the king does sit in the gate he is there he's congratulating the people he's saying comfortable things to them and all the people came before the king for Israel had fled every man to his tent it already sunk awaited their kin because they knew that the king was angry at them for having brought about the death of his son which was their enemy and I'm sure there was a moment that hearts picked up that there will be trouble in this camp verse 9 and all the people were at strife throughout all the tribes of Israel saying the king saved us out of the hand of our enemies that means he saved us from the Philistines and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines and now he is fled out of the land of Absalom he's not even here at Jerusalem verse 10 and Absalom who we anointed over us is dead in battle now therefore why speaking not a word of bringing the King back why can't we have our King back here what's wrong with Judah why doesn't Judah King back 11 and King David sent to the dock that's the priest and to a by athough the priest saying speak unto the elders of Judah saying why are ye the last to bring the King back to his house seen the speech of all Israel has come to the King even to his house what is Judah still holding him away from Jerusalem 4 verse 12 I'm sorry this is David saying to thee I'm going to digress if I'm not careful here this was David speaking to the priest to go to Jerusalem and to the elders of Judah and say why are you the last I'm well let's bless let him go on and say he is their kin these men of Judah 12 you are my brethren I'm of Judah also you're my brother and you are my bones of my flesh wherefore then are ye the last to bring back the king this role has already accepted me what about you 13 what's this carefully and say e2a may amaze sock art thou not of my bone and of my flesh are you not of Judah also amazing God do so to me and more also if thou be not captain of the hosts before me continually in the room of Joab you better think about that a long time dear one Joab had just completed doing David probably one of the greatest favors of his life and snapping him out of it would be like slapping him in the face and saying get with it it cost him the job of commander of the troops not only does he remove Joab from head of all the troops but he appoints the man that Absalom appointed as the truth you'll find it back in 17 Chapter 17 verse 25 I think it is yeah let me just read it to you and had full of made a Mesa captain of a host instead of Joe at the enemy and here David has removed Joab the one that stepped forward playing politics strong leadership is not popular never has been and never will be if it takes on the strength of keeping the morals and spiritual fiber of the troops all attune to the Word of God it is never popular and that is why that Christ himself when he walk the earth the hated him he wasn't liked by people and it is we love him so much that is to say Jesus we love him so much that we often forget that he was not welcome in most places that he traveled okay well so it is with Joab replaced by his own uncle to you might as well say the side of the enemy verse 14 again I would hasten to add you must understand the emotions of these people David's gifts David David's guilt brother has shorted out in his brain the fiber that causes justice to come forth verse 14 and he bowed the heart of the men of Judah oh they all loved that even as the heart of one man so that they sent this word into the King returned thou in all thy servants now that's politics friend that's David playing politics 15 so the King returned and came to Jordan and Judah to yoga to go to meet the king to conduct the king over Jordan bringing him home bringing him to Jerusalem 16 and shimmy I remember him he's the one that cursed the king he's the one that went along with David when David was riding the ass and cursing him and throwing dirt at him every step of the way because God had told Jimmy I to do it part of David's curse part of David's guilt trip perhaps wrapped up in this one shimmy I the son of Gera a Vinge imide which was of de hue and he hasted and came down with the men of Judah to meet King David you would have thought he might have been going over the other side of the mountain and continued going the other way but no he comes forth 17 and there were a thousand men of Benjamin with him and zaba the servant of the house of Saul that's Methodist sex slave the one that had lied to David about Mephibosheth that the servant of the house of Saul and his 15 sons and his pretty servants with him and they went over Jordan before the king these are people that lied to David people that cursed David but surely they come there comes a time of repentance and we see in that we see a type in a sense that this David becomes here and even it was guilt not filling the bill but a type of thing that would be able to forgive sin 18 and there went over a ferry boat to carry over the Kings household and to do what he thought good and shimming I the son of gira fell down before the king as he was come over Jordan he was no longer cursing him he was no longer calling him a murderer that's what he was calling him before 19 and said unto the King let not my lord cute iniquity unto me neither do thou remember that which thy servant did previously the day that my lord of the king went out of Jerusalem please forget it that the king should take it to his heart how many how many I wonder with the type being though David deserved it the curses against the true servants of God God's elect as they stand against Antichrist the curses that will flow forward how many on that first day of the millennium will say forgive there will be some that Jesus will say get out of my sight I never knew you you know why they were worshipping the wrong Christ said 24 though servant Jimmy I speaking again for thy servant doesn't know that I have sinned he really didn't sin God ordered schemey I to curse David therefore behold I am come the first this day of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord to king 21 and ever high the son of zoo sir UI up this is David sister answered and said shall not Jimmy I be put to death for this because he cursed the Lord's anointed 22 and David said what have I to do with you G sons of Zoar Uriah that ye should this day be adversaries unto me adversary is simply one of the names of Satan the great adversary shall there any man be put to death this day in Israel question hasn't there been enough bloodshed already of course David knowing it was his sin his sin that caused God to have the shimmy I cursed him he certainly was going to shed more blood for it would seem that God was beginning to have an ear for David forth do not I know that I am this day king over Israel in other words it's kind of like sitting there saying let the prisoners go the same as Jesus in the tomb released the prisoners from Satan we see this type of Savior or one that sets free 23 therefore the King said into shimming ah thou shalt not die and the King swear unto Him and so it reminds us as we look on forward that every knee shall bow on the first day of the Millenium verse 24 and what about mephibosheth the servant had come and said he refused to come and was going to stay with Absalom do you remember mr. thesethe he was the son of Jonathan David's blood brother those two that were so close less understanding 24 and the FIB assessed the son of Saul came down to meet the king and had neither dressed his feet nor trimmed his beard nor washed his clothes from the day the King departed until the day he came again in peace he didn't shave he didn't wash he didn't do anything in mourning when the King left the city you'll remember that David had taken this one in the last son of Jonathan 25 but I want you to remember though that the cybo had come up and said that Mephibosheth had turned on David let's find out the truth now 25 it came to pass when he was come to Jerusalem to meet the king that the king said unto Him wherefore when us not thou with me mat the beset why weren't you with me in other words he remembered the words of zaba he wouldn't come cyber said now let's learn the truth 26 and he answered my lord o king my servant deceived me for thy servants I will saddle me an ass actually tolds I but should be translated I told my servant to saddle me and ask that I may ride their own and go to the king because thy servant is lame now I want you to don't don't let the real truth of this matter in scape your mind as I became with the ass alright but what was on that ass there was food there was wine there were racing cakes that would sustain the troops during that March which turned out to be a very positive thing in other words I want you to see all aspects of that some people would criticize me at times by not having the ability to think a little deeper than what they read on the surface and jump to conclusions but I want you to see the all I want you to mature and grow up whereby you see and understand all things God is in control why would God leave this lame lad here and allow the man to take advantage well it worked out positive did it not or the food that was desperately needed by David arrived and Mephibosheth was still safe at home I just had thought - - for your consideration 24 and we continue with Missa 'but Mephibosheth talking and he has slandered thy servant unto my lord the king he lied about me David but my lord the king is an angel of God do therefore what is good in vine eyes whatever pleases you David it suits me fine if you don't believe me if you want my head even that's fine I'm thankful to see you home I truly believe that mephibosheth loved David with all of his heart because David and as much as Mephibosheth was the last of the royal feed from Saul's house it would have been normal practice for him to have killed him rather then protect him 28 for all of my father's house were but dead men before my lord the king that's what I mean the custom they should have all been killed in other words by a custom yet did a spouse set thy servant among them that did eat at thine own table you took me in like a child what right therefore have I yet to cry anymore unto the King I have no right to complain before you David how humble can one be the heart of David certainly could not help but go out to this land 29 and the King said unto him why speakest thou any more of this of thy matters I have said die and frybo divide the land now I'm going to show you something David back in chapter 16 and verse 4 had disinherited so-to-speak mephibosheth from any of the land and had given it all to zaba because of a lie that was told which went against the covenant that he had made with mephibosheth and Zaya back in the ninth chapter in the tenth verse where he gave all the land to Mephibosheth and the proceeds thereof if saba and his family would work it so he dissing all here the law that was given under the lie and went back to the law that he are the covenant that he put into power back when he first took mephibosheth in now what is the moral and what is it that you're to learn from this don't just read over it you are to learn from David for that's what the key of David is David did a thing that was a great sin also you never dear one never make a judgment on hearing only one side of a story you understand that I'm going to tell you something as a pastor that's one of the first lessons you can learn the hard way if you're not familiar with the lesson before you take office as a pastor you can never make a judgment without knowing both sides of the story for I will tell you this as many emotions as you can see that are woven throughout the story of David you see the faults of men in the flesh and sometimes even you can see that both were at fault for different reasons and a king a pastor or an arbitrator which could be any Christian must always be mature in as much as you have all of the facts and data that are possibly that you can possibly draw to you before you make a decision for David had played the fool David took the word of a servant from for the fact that a very loyal friend loyal to the blood that means death because of the crisis at the moment and no doubt how good the fig cakes looked and tasted he believed a lie and allowed himself to be I'll say it bought for a moment he corrects it but you see the reason David and what God truly wants you to know from this the reason David is giving freedom let's go on one more verse and I'll finish that thought well it and mephibosheth said unto the king yay let him take all for as much as my lord King has come again in peace unto his own house in other words Mephibosheth was that happy to see him back no the lesson that God wants you to learn in this that Mephibosheth david has played the part of savior and one that will release and forgive sin and disloyalty as a type of he that would come and die on the cross and truly give forgive sin because of repentance and you see the opposite side of that coin i want you to look at it well why was David forgiving sin because of his own guilt no other reason because of his own guilt knowing perfectly well that his sin had caused all this to happen in the first place he's forgiving sin because of his own guilt and imperfection do you understand man cannot rule only God can be king only God through that son Yeshua Jesus could truly forgive sins and he paid the price for it being totally and completely innocent how perfect our fathers word one is when he intends that you bring forth these deeper meats from his word it makes you appreciate Jesus it makes you appreciate one that did not forgive sins out of guilt but could give sin forgive sins because he was perfect and set himself as the perfect team for if you had seen this fun then you see the father also if you ever need forgiveness dear one he's already paid the prize but you got to go to him not me not someone else you got to go to him and he'll forgive you if only you'll ask and at the same time while you're there what you're talking to him why don't you tell him you want to be a servant of his so that you can also receive his blessings for this is a wonderful place to live and be when you understand your father's words and you can mature into a true Christian understanding the emotions of all parties involved in this plot well recorded in God's Word that we call the in times all right bless your heart you listen a moment please
