I was the FIRST to Complete Breath of the Wild's HARDEST Challenge!

breath of the wild is a large game it's so large in fact you can put hundreds of hours into it and still not see everything the game has to offer it also contains a lot of ways to hurt link so what if i told you i was the first person in the world to 100 complete breath of the wild without taking any damage taking about 6 months of my life and just over 100 resets later i finally was successful in pulling off this beast of a challenge but how is this even possible there are so many things in the game that can damage you well let's just start off with the basics just what is 100 of breath of the wild well it's simple really we can just go off the 100 speed run rule set since that's the most set in stone the speeder and definition of 100 of breath of the wild requires all heart containers and container upgrades using the 120 spirit orbs then complete the avengers guide which means all main quests 42 shrine quests and 76 side quests 100 map completion which requires all core rocks shrines locations on the map and towers all permanent items in the inventory which means all runes fully upgraded key items like kilt and metals and horse equipment and the confidential envelope from completing the compendium not only that but we actually have to get all the permanent armor and fully upgrade it to 4 stars that might seem like a lot and it is remembering all this in a speedrun is truly one of the most challenging things then the damageless part on top of that just makes it 10 times worse but what counts is taking damage really can i use yellow hearts how about reloading and just trying again after i get hit well the rule set i gave myself is as follows any physical damage that befalls link even if it's just a quarter heart of damage is damage no matter if it's a yellow heart or not so stuff like cut scenes for this instance does not count as damage this includes the master sword since it is a cut scene but i will go more into that later i'm not allowed to reload after i take damage i must reset i personally don't think a damageless challenge counts at all if you reload after taking damage there's no point i have to reset but i can reload if i think i'm in danger or i can use the rook's protection and protect link that's all okay but just how did i accomplish this well there's a lot that went into this run and let's just start right at the beginning plateau is one of the easiest parts of the game and one of the hardest i want to get this place done as soon as possible but also as safe as possible starting off i'm already gonna abuse a glitch that allows us to skip the very first cutscene in the game what does this glitch do it actually freezes time of day so it never turns knight unless i activate it at a later time using this i can go a majority of the game without ever seeing a stall but we need time of day at some point because a lot of the game requires it so by just clipping outside we are already free into hyrule plateau after this is really simple i want to grab an axe then a shield food bow and arrows as fast as possible so i can do the next few speed run tricks all the while grabbing any clorox or materials i need on the way for the video length sake i'm not going to show all 900 clorox that would just be insane so if you're really interested i actually highlighted the whole run on my twitch channel so for this video i will just be showing all the speedrun tricks going over all of them how i did it and just generally explaining a lot of things after i pick up some cheeky elemental arrows i run up to the magnesius shrine and do what we call a shield clip by getting what we call skew on the side of the shrine then unequipping our shield mid shield jump it actually fidgets link and clips link right into the side of the shrine then i clip into the inside of the shrine by doing the exact same thing now the inside of magnesis was surprisingly difficult you have no idea how many runs i killed to getting shot at by this exact guardian because i am dumb let's just say it took up about 15 of all my failed runs so it was pretty awful after magnesis we want to run on over to the tower and kill this boko for a sword turns out there's a quest that needs a lot of random weapons throughout all of hyrule so we'll be holding on to the sword for a very long time finish up the tower go to bomb shrine finish up bomb shrine then go on over to the cabin and cook some food to allow us to get to stasis then after stasis is where more runs go to die we're actually going to use two speedrun tricks one after another here i'm actually gonna use this rock in front of link to launch him to the top of the mountain so by using stasis and hitting the rock four times and positioning link on the correct spot we easily can climb the mountain then after that we have to do a trick what we call a btb otherwise known as a bullet time bounce btb's are relatively simple to understand basically we're going to bounce off this boko's back by using bullet time if you didn't know bullet time makes any momentum get multiplied by 20 so by using this we can launch link all the way to cryo i actually lost a bit of my runs to this as well not because i'm that bad but because the nintendo switch pro controller's d-pad actually sucks you see when you launch link really high up in the air without the paraglider there's no real way to get down so we use what we call a fall damage cancel or a fdc to safely land without dying this trick just so happens to require d-pad so more often than not the d-pad will mess up and kill me in the process [Music] oh my god d-pad this trick works by when link unequips his weapon right when he throws it it actually grounds link for a frame basically negating all fall damage this is used heavily throughout any speeder on this game since plateau is forced after cryo i get a few more clorox and head on over to the first mini boss of the game the talus if you remember earlier i said we have to get each kill to middle and that's right you guessed it that means killing every talus heinox and mulduk in the game there are 40 talus there's 40 high knocks and there's only four malduga so we have a lot to kill this talus is the easiest to kill just hit him a few times with a sledgehammer and you're good to go that goes for any mini boss they're all pushovers and with a few arrows they go down relatively easy so i won't be going over most of them after the talus and corox plateau is basically finished so we grab the glider and we're good to go our next stop is the warm doublet that spawned in the old man's hut after we finished the plateau we are going to need this throughout the whole run since it protects us from the elements then it's time for horsey time and boy oh boy let me tell you about the horses they suck the amount of runs i lost to general horse shenanigans was way too many and it turns out they are basically required horses are weird in this game they can get agitated and basically hit you in a single frame if they really want what the [ __ ] really they are a loose cannon so it should be obvious we need to go about this as safe as possible it just so happens by freezing them with an arrow we can safely get up next to them and mount them as soon as they unfreeze to avoid any bs frame 1 damage after we grab our horse we do as much as we can with it and then it's time to name our beauty i called it exclamation mark youtube to tell my stream chat to sub to my youtube which is good promotion since it basically pops up throughout the whole run then after this we are going to get the most useful trick in all of damagel's history the moon jump moon jump is a weird trick it's easy to pull off and it's been in the game for years already nintendo just kind of overlooked patching this trick out of the game which is uh it's good for me this trick is really easy to perform all we have to do is go to the mounted archery camp mini game and mount a horse right as the timer reaches zero anime after that they don't watch it again until like high school [Music] oh nice doing this puts us in the moon jump state which is really helpful throughout the whole run [Music] basically this puts us in an infinite grounded state meaning we can jump in we want run anyway basically go anywhere we want this will be our basic mode of transportation throughout a majority of the run a way we can get rid of this is by mounting a mountable creature so it's also really easy to get rid of if you want to know more specifics about moon jump i actually made a huge tutorial governing everything a link will be in the description now that we have the most useful tool this is about grabbing everything now right wrong the amount of resources we still need like bows arrows weapons it's it's a lot also what are we gonna do about that pesky master sword now that's where this next glitch comes in after do a bunch of main quests like the lab quests going back to impa we head all the way back over to heteno and talk to our best friend the demon statue by using this tattoo we can easily dupe our spirit orbs to get max stamina and hearts as early as possible why would we need hearts to mask simple it's just for the master sword you see you need 13 hearts to pull the master sword out which is also required for hundo since it's a permanent item and has a main quest behind it so by getting all the hearts we need now we can easily pull it at our most early convenience the full stamina is just for ease because stamina is always cool now the next big part is getting bows and materials we need before my dope which includes my personal health hyrule castle that's right hyrule castle we are going here super early because one i want to get it out of the way as early as possible and two it has some good loot that we will use and abuse in hyrule our objective is to kill the stale knox in the gel grab the hyrule shield just cause get as many bows as possible including the royal guard blow get the memory and then skedaddle on out of there now that's uh that's a lot easier said than done the amount of runs i lost to this segment alone could probably add up to 30. okay i learned a lot about enemies and combat techniques when doing this segment which i wish i could go into more detail but i'll only give you one did you know if you shoot a guardian and they don't see you they will just fire a laser in the general direction the hero came from yeah i didn't either until i attempted this whole thing after we successfully avoid hyrule and get out our next major stop is mado mode is definitely the easiest out of the beasts and it's the safest it also gives us the best bow in the game that we will dupe later on so we want to do this as soon as possible model is pretty basic we want to run to all the pillars and run to the boss there is one cool esc clip we do but that was totally optional and only saves about 10 seconds in a speed run really cool after we kill win ganon we can get on out of there and claim our bounty one thing if you notice is that we don't have moon jump anymore that's right we actually mounted teba so it took away our moon jump powers sad it's okay though we can just get it again so we teleport finish up any quests we can on our way and take our trusty steed sub to the youtube please all the way back to the camp where we can subject ourselves to more horse rng okay these horses are [ __ ] garbage i have to reset this it's weird i wait until now to say this but i'd like to point out that there's a random chance that when trying to mount the horse for moon jump it will get mad and bop us for like a quarter heart and you guessed it i love horses i have lost a few runs to this as well now after we get moon jump we can go over to our next big trick bow duping now that we have a great eagle bow we can actually turn this into many great eagle bows by using another multi-shot bow and electric arrows we can actually overload the menu to trick the game into thinking we have just so many great eagle bows i personally don't know the reasons behind this and all i do know is that it makes link bald and he kind of looks like me after you get a lot of bows we just do some more korok hunting shrine hunting until we eventually need to teleport back to crate plateau here we do even more korok hunting and shrine hunting but you will notice sometimes i mark a single objective on the map this is actually for way later you see since we actually have moon jump and no time of day this actually makes some things impossible for us to get so we actually have to come back to here at a later time to grab it all so by marking it it makes it easier for us to grab later now it's time for another really cool bow and arrow glitch that for some reason nintendo never patched out for some reason if you take a multi-shot bow and light it next to this exact fireplace in the karakara bazaar it actually forces all the arrows on the ground when you fire it letting us basically grab infinite arrows needless to say i grab 999 arrows so that we have enough throughout the whole run then we go to satori mountain this mountain is cool because it has like uh a ton of apples and we need about 140 of these so we farm apples for a while because we will need these for a cool glitch at the end of the run that requires them at this point during the normal hyundai run a blood moon sure to occur but since time of day isn't active yet that ain't happening for a while now basically it's time to slowly hunt clorox kill bosses find shrines up until the next heartbreaking segment now the korok forest a big point of interest mostly because of one thing the master sword i always get a lot of questions about this how do you get the master sword without damage well the short answer is it's a cutscene [Music] [Applause] we actually take no real damage here like the rules state we need to take in order to reset but let me dive more deep into the question the question always refers to the fact the master store takes away hearts in order to pull it but heals you right after we can actually skip this part known as a trick called ems or early master sword now this trick is really long confusing hard to explain but it basically allows us to pull the sword out of the pedestal without even going into the cutscene but there's one major issue with this method it actually doesn't complete the main quest we need for 100 being the hero sword and since we need that quest for 100 our only option is to pull it out normally some people may disagree but for the sake of the run the master sword is just a cutscene and actually does no harm to link other than that the korok forest is a walk in the park we just kind of moon jump over everything we need to without trying to void out and get a bunch of inventory slots to boot from the snow to the heat the next big part is actually death mountain and we do quite a bit of it by using the potion of heat resistance we can actually walk around death mountain without being terrified of the death part of the mountain then by doing this cheeky little side quest we can get a piece of armor which then combined with another piece of armor allows us to go anywhere we want but there is one thing that death mountain has that other places do not rng you see at certain parts of the mountain giant lava rocks will fall all around link that have a random chance of hitting him we can actually just avoid these entirely you see they only ever trigger once so by triggering them then immediately teleporting away we can safely get rid of the lava rocks without even going near them fast forward a bit and then we get to the point where we have to save our boy yunobu and start our trek up to the next divine beast va rudonya this whole track is actually pretty easy and lenient by using the ancient arrows we got from hyrule and some metal boxes lying around we can safely guide yunobu to rudanya without much hassle the cool thing about this divine beast as well is that we get to keep moon jump throughout the whole thing so it makes the whole segment a lot easier than intended we just do the boss fight by abusing our bow and voila we have our most used champion ability daruk's protection which allows us to be safe from three hits of damage if holding down the shield button a ton of hours of hunting clorox and shrines later we finally get to the scariest shrine rhona catcha tucked deep within the ancient ruins and surrounded by guardians this shrine can actually be pretty scary to get to thankfully we have a lot of arrows so we can safely snipe each one we need before finally saying yolo and going for the last line towards the end because i am impatient oh my heart was beating the shrine was always so scary but i managed to get by without taking any damage at all ever not once which is great now that we have the shrine unlocked we can just teleport back later to grab the tunic of the wild set which we need to fully upgrade as well as a zora set and the champion's tunic if you notice throughout the whole run i made sure to grab fish acorns opals lizalfos tails and i still need dragon parts because we need to fully upgrade all these armor pieces to max to 100 complete the game but we can only reliably farm dragons with time of day then we finally come to this we need a trigger time of day ah the start to the damage let's run finally this is when things start getting scary throughout the whole run i've marked every quest boss and shrine i need to do with time of day so let's start going through it to be as thorough as possible i started by killing all stalls i didn't miss making one so i ended up having to hunt for it for a while after i went to a shrine a lot of people ask about juluna or the three canon shrine the one where they make you stand on the hot platform it's actually kind of funny that a lot of people don't know how to actually do this shrine but all you need is a heat resistance potion and that's it you wait it out you finish the quest like normal then i went through every quest after every quest i did as much miscellaneous things until finally deciding to take on ruda varuda this quest can be fairly easy but also fairly scary during the mission to get into ruda i did have a close call but managed to pull through to get into the dungeon now once inside i do not have moon jump anymore and that's right it's because we mounted side on as funny as that sentence is so now we have to do this dungeon the classic way by the classic way i mean abusing rivali's gale and going through with the speedrun route to do this dungeon as fast as possible there wasn't much trouble but the boss fight could still be pretty scary because you know it was a giant boss you see water blight has this weird gimmick where during the second phase and bullet time he will start going into the sky so i have to aim appropriately once i do water blight dies and we can move on to the second most scary thing about this whole run von naborus why would i wait now to do von naborus if it's so scary why wouldn't you want to do it as soon as possible well there's one simple reason once you defeat koga which is a requirement to get into naboris ego will start spawning everywhere and sometimes they have aimbot and i just don't want to deal with that so we wait to do it until now so we don't have to fight them ever getting to koga is relatively easy we don't actually have to go through the whole hideout to get to them it's as simple as clipping through the wall making sure to grab the bow because we'll need this later then coming back through the normal exit doing this will trigger the boss fight without you we need to go through the whole hideout super useful if you ask me now koga is pretty straightforward it's just a few arrow shots some two-handed beyblades and he's basically down not too hard or scary to be honest just a total pushover but here comes the hard part the naboris escort mission nope i lost a run here once 30 hours in i failed it stung hurt and i felt absolutely defeated but we never gave up we never surrendered and we made it all the way back for round two with the naboris escort mission riju is not your friend she's trying at all times to make sure you're not in the lightning circle so we want to do this in as little bow shots as possible so my idea was if i didn't do it one cycle i would simply reload and try again but i managed to do it in one cycle my first try then i reward was doing the divine beast this part is simple but has some nuance to it we are basically doing the speedrun round again to go as fast as possible but there are a few things that are weird you see the bow we are using is strange because it shoots two arrows in such a way that's different from every other bow that allows us to do stuff like this that's why we picked up this bow also we do need it for a quest now we simply abuse gail for the rest of the dungeon until we get into a really scary fight thunder blight this dude goes crazy non-stop but from my many hours of speed running this game i know his exact pattern and i was able to bring him down with relative ease it doesn't make it any less scary though since his thunder move with the pillars can mess you up if your rng isn't the best now that's it then i decided to do evan tied as you can actually go there reliably with moon jump once there i shoot a bunch of arrows drop a few items and made sure i had your boses furry because that will come in handy when killing the high knocks on the island and clearing any enemies throughout everything i triggered each of the three platforms using nice ron great eagle bow and ribosa and i successfully completed evantide with relative ease at this point it's time for the big bad it's time to kill gann we have made the giant pig wait long enough i also have a little plan up my sleeve i don't want to actually fight ganon he's scary and could be unpredictable so i use the oldest trick in the bow the spawn snipe you see by lining up a shot perfectly with the great eagle bow and bomb arrows you can actually stop the bomb arrow with the cutscene so it perfectly lines up with ganon's spawn location let's act like it's any percent oh honey doing this allows the bomb arrows to constantly hit ganon in the middle of the cutscene killing him before he even spawns you might think this is a bit dirty but i do make up for at the end so stay tuned oh my god [Music] [Music] here's what they hit me the giant pig is also a pushover just hit the big old shining circles and he's good as dead the game isn't over yet though and we have plenty of stuff to do that's all the hardest parts down now it's just the easy stuff like getting any core rocks we missed or any shrines getting the dragon parts we need upgrading and then the general cleanup after spending an hour trying to find some mystical rocks and grabbing all the kilt and metals from killing all mini bosses all i need to do is farm dragons and grab the parts we need we need each from a dragon and they are the following we need 2 scale two claw two fang and four horn thankfully we got some of these pieces from hyrule earlier but they can still be really slow to get otherwise also during all of this we only have one more shrine to get and what shrine is that the blood moon shrine this shrine is very annoying because since we trigger time of day we actually have been on a timer you actually have to wait out about a week of in-game time to pass until blood moon actually happens and when it does you have a limited amount of time to run link's butt over to the shrine to activate it so when preparation i save my game every so often just in case if i change time of day with a campfire i won't miss my chance then it happens bloodman i made sure to grab moon jump again and on the blood moon night i made my way over there i made sure to talk to cass because blood moon is a part of the shrine quests then place link's naked body right on the platform once inside i jumped over any loading trigger so no guardians will spawn and i use a cheeky little scope clip to clip through the wall if you want to see how this works specifically i also made a tutorial about tests of strength shrines in general the link will be in description after that was the final quest so i can get my tunic of the wild set all things have lined up only a few more clorox left all bosses are dead all shrines are gone all i have to do now is get a few more dragon parts and then i'm done so it's time for faroesh [Music] yeah that's right 32 hours in the run is dead the most rube goldberg machine hit yet if you don't understand what happened let me show you and explain every so often in the morning choo choos will spawn here around you they are a total push over so they are easy to kill they drop their jelly which isn't needed so i never pick it up accidentally at one point when farming for roche i went a little bit too far back after gliding and triggered the electric keys that are stationed there to start chasing me this isn't an issue i'll simply shoot them carrying out my life well just so happens when shooting the electric keys it changes the jelly into electric chuchu jelly which then connects to my arrow and then connects to my bow damaging me i was utterly devastated i really did waste another 30 hours of my life to a run that i'll never get back but i couldn't let it end like that i couldn't let breath of the wild beat me how was i going to go down like that never give up never surrender [Music] that's right i optimized the route i made sure to not forget any koroks i made sure i was well rested hyrule easy mode easy rudonia easy i'm here and i'm taking names round two luda easy naboris there was a few hiccups but i successfully finished flawlessly eva tying down ganon destroyed picked up any miscarrots shrines waited out blood moon then went back to feroce i made sure to take out any electric keys on the way then i got the rest of the dragon parts i could see the end of the tunnel and it's coming fast my only obstacle is my own damn routing after grabbing the kilt and metals upgrading all equipment and watching my bud get married i still had plenty of cleanup turns out i missed a lot of stuff even when improving my route i missed three locations and like six koroks i even lost track with shriner 2 at some point but i figured it out by going block by block on the map finding everything i missed i grabbed the legendary hes2 [ __ ] give me your [ __ ] and any other quests i needed to fulfill in the area the only thing standing between me and the end was two more quests and a whole compendium you know how earlier we got over 140 apples now it's time to put them to use abusing a weird memory glitch by selling all the apples then activating the compendium upgrade it actually gives us a big majority of all the pictures in the game besides the few that we can easily buy with all the rupees we have acquired throughout the run we actually use this in the normal honda run it's very useful it's very fast so after all that we only need two more quests to go and this run will truly be over we have to grab a horse which can be horrible but with cheeky ice arrows it's a walk in the park run it over run inside talk to these dudes finish the horse quest and then all we have left is the final memory [Music] everybody 77 [Music] 42 [Music] it has been done zero percent my ass [Applause] cheeks and for the 100 speed run this is where the end is we end the timer on the final memory that's when i did after six months of grinding a lot of trial and error learning i was finally the first person in the world to 100 complete breath of the wild without taking any damage but the story doesn't end there i wanted to kill ganon for real no tricks no spawn snipes only me and him i made my way to hyrule and faced off in a final showdown damageless style [Music] [Music] [Music] fantasy [Music] fantasy uh [Music] and because there's a 5k [ __ ] [Music] i successfully beat ganon with zero damage but something didn't feel right i didn't end this with a bang the run was already over so for a finale i decided to do a trick shot on dark beast cannon himself [Music] [Applause] [Music] freedom [Music] with that my damageless chapter has come to a close a total of six months and about a hundred attempts later i successfully finished breath of the wild 100 damageless but where does it go from here i didn't do the dlc i could realistically do this whole run without moon jump i think that depends on you guys so i have a challenge if i can get to 20 000 subscribers i will attempt this whole run again with the dlc on top of that if we manage to go all the way and i break 100 000 subs at
