good morning everybody and welcome back to hyrule myths the online internet video game TV show brought back from the dead to take care of some unfinished business The Legend of Zelda breath of the wild tasks you with preparing for a battle with the ultimate evil by collecting a smorgasbord of incredibly overpowered upgrades but I've got bad news I forgot my bag at home and calamity Ganon ain't kick in his own but we're just gonna have to rough it and save the world using only what we can find lying around can you beat The Legend of Zelda breadth of the wilds master mode without pausing on just hearing the title you might think this is no big deal but trust me this is the most complicated run yet to be covered on this channel so complicated it's gonna be a two-parter this first video will be about the entire run as a whole and our activities on the overworld explaining our routing choices and how we tackle the main quests the companion video currently in development and plan to upload within the next couple weeks will be similar to the octo expansion minimum shot videos a fast-paced rundown of our most interesting strategies in clearing the game's self-contained shrines of course I recommend watching that video after this one for the purposes of this run the main functions of the plus button - button and left up and right on the d-pad are band a no pause run you say how do you use the bathroom don't worry I took plenty of bathroom breaks when I say quote unquote pausing I'm referring only to the game's mechanics the home button only brings up the Nintendo switches home menu which doesn't affect the game itself in any direct way so no I didn't literally leave my switch on for 100 hours sorry if ever we accidentally pause like a dumb stupid idiot the only way to keep the run going is to immediately exit the game and reload a save from before the pawza the run is over when we successfully complete the game's one ultimate goal destroy Ganon this would of course be trivial on normal mode since you can just spam bombs and parry lasers during the final boss gauntlet until the bosses inevitably run out of Health hence why this challenge run is only truly a challenge in master mode enemies including bosses will regenerate health if you haven't damaged them for a few seconds making endurance strategies far less sustainable true to the game's original premise calamity Ganon is Oh intimidating a foe we're gonna have to run around the entire kingdom of Hyrule to prepare and since there's no kill quite as satisfying as overkill I've added on a bonus challenge we're going to complete the maximum possible number of shrines and to get the true ending that is why this one is a two-parter and no I'm not getting all the core ox I actually do surprisingly have a life with the basics out of the way we're almost ready to start the run but there's one crucial decision to make first with which runes you leave the gray plateau runes are your main tools for the majority of the game trying puzzles as well as having plenty of practical applications outside shrines bombs give you an infinite supply of explosives Magne cisu manually move around metal objects from a distance stasis lets you temporarily freeze objects and time and build momentum to launch them and pry honest lets you create Klima bulb locks of ice and water runes are normally swapped through the menu but auto equip when first obtained and you must grab all four in order to leave the great plateau your choice will ripple through your next hundred plus hours in hyrule so don't take it lightly that said pop quiz time which room do you think we're taken with us a-bombs be Magni sious see stasis or D try honest if you answered a or C congratulations you made an objectively incorrect choice better luck next time the only potentially correct options are magnesia sore cry honest because there's actually a second way to force a rune do Auto equip upgrade it at the Hatano tech lab the two upgradeable runes are stasis and Valls meaning we'll have a backup option to swap for both of them later in the playthrough Magnus's and cry honest meanwhile are only equippable on the gray plateau making them the practical options between the two cry honest is more contact sensitive with little application in areas not explicitly designed around it McNeese is however is a ludicrously useful and has applications in basically any situation especially situations the developers did not intend our main tool for the majority of this run will Magne sis with our decision made we can make our way to the other three shrines even this early in the run we'll be feeling the effects of living apostles life without any access to our weapon inventories we can only equip weapons by grabbing them when links hands are empty any extra weapons we grab after that point will be swallowed within the unreachable confines of links underwear never to be seen again if our current weapon doesn't have enough damage dealing potential to kill an enemy before it breaks the battle is practically unwinnable as usual our dominant combat strategy will be running away like a little [ __ ] baby without the plus button we can't cook eat or put on pants which means we can't use Cobra resistant food or cold resistant clothing to make it to the cry on a shrine atop the great plateaus snowy peak where our health will constantly drain three hearts is nowhere near enough to just tough it out luckily there is at least one other option grab a torch light it on fire and use its heat to protect you as you walk up the mountain you'll have to be extra careful to avoid enemies since you can't run without putting out the torch you can however throw the torch without putting it out then pick it up where it landed still burning brightly blink normally puts out torches when talking to NPCs but throwing it on the ground lets you get the warm doublet from the old man safely not that it matters much since you can't actually use the thing we have to put out the torch 10 or the shrine but the inside is thankfully at a safe temperature after we finish the shrine though we're in a bit of a pickle the minus button is how we access the math and thus also how we use the past travel teleport system if we want to get out of here we've got to do it the hard way it's a close call but going down the mountain is a lot faster than going up drop near the river and run across the bridge using cry honest to make a hasty getaway into warmer territory the lack of teleportation also made it look like I was stuck at the stasis shrine I cut a tree down to get over here but that treaty spawns after entering the shrine and I already threw my axe away so I can't just cut another down thankfully link has enough stamina to climb sideways but this and the cry honest Fiasco made me learn something really crucial since the only way to manually save the game is through the pause menu access with the plus button manual saves our effective leave and we're eternally limited to the last two Auto saves the game made on its own we got lucky this time but if we don't pay close attention to where we're going we could potentially softlock our save file both prior auto-saves placing link in an inescapable location the old my solution would be to start the run over from scratch after finishing the magnesia shrine grabbing the paraglider and heading into Hyrule proper it's now technically possible to walk straight up to high roll castle knock on Ganon's door and begin the final boss battle but since we haven't finished any divine beasts all four blights will show up in an epic boss rush as said before were limited only to a single weapon we bring with us which is inevitably going to break before we even have the chance to get curb-stomped by Ganon himself rushing straight to Ganon like an ultimate badass is simply not an option the real savior of the run is going to be the blade of Evil's Bane the Master Sword this baby is available once link has a maximum health of 13 hearts and while in hyrule castle it has massive attack power and durability it's so ludicrously opie it could theoretically plow through the entire boss gauntlet single-handedly when you get the Master Sword you get the wind button but don't be so hasty grabbing it the Master Sword Otto equips once obtained and once you have the Master Sword equipped the only way to unequip it is to break it it can re materialize in your inventory but only in your inventory the only ways to equip it again are to face calamity Ganon who as mentioned is guarded by a boston lets or to complete the trial of the sword which god no even worse it's possible to softlock your weapon inventory by filling up your last inventory slot while the Master Sword is equipped the Master Sword doesn't free up an inventory slot when breaking so even though Link's hands are empty he's completely incapable of picking weapons up this thing is too valuable and too risky to waste the moment we remove it from its pedestal we are committing to the final showdown instead of investing in hearts first I highly recommend investing in stamina stamina upgrades make the overworld easier to travel and most importantly make it easier to reach shrines more stamina means more shrines which feeds back into more stamina of course staying alive is mildly important and that Underpants really isn't doing much for a defense stat as such at the beginning of the run I beelined for the Gerudo desert oasis the desert is hot during the day and cold during the night so I grabbed a burning torch and traveled only at nighttime here you can buy the Gerudo VIII armor which is unique among the game's armor sets being ought to equip via cutscene no pause is necessary then I found out I'm a dumb and this was a total waste of time because there's actually an option that's objectively better in every way head for the Hatano tie shop tell the owner you'd like to dye your clothes and bam he'll open up a specialized version of the inventory menu it's not quite as robust as the real thing unfortunately only the armored sub section of the inventory is accessible you can still view the other tabs but alas trying to save the game result in a no stop being dumb message nevertheless this is a free pause 'less method of changing clothing allowing us to change into absolutely any outfit in our inventory unless you have a specific clothing combination in mind at the moment I recommend wearing two levels of cold protection plus one level of heat protection keeping link in a quantum state of comfy warm and refreshingly cool able to traverse the majority of the games map of course keep in mind the lack of fast travel means if you ever want to change clothes you'll have to make the long long trek all the way back to Hatano to do so I recommend doing as much as you can between trips to make the long travel times ludicrously shorter it's highly recommended you go to the horse god and pull out the ancient saddle giving your horse the ability to teleport to you regardless of distance of all the potential side quests to go on four of the most tempting are the divine beasts the rewards for completing one are massive one heart container a unique champion ability 1/8 of Ganon's health bar obliterated and best of all the blight the access that divine beast boss will be permanently removed from the final boss gauntlet there's a little bit of a problem though first off we have to actually enter the divine beasts which sometimes demand specific arrow types arrow types are normally swapped through the menu similar to melee weapons bows thankfully this is cheesed around if links currently equipped quiver has 0 arrows than the next arrow type he acquires in the game environment or via chest will auto equip this does not apply to shops arrows bought there just materialize in your inventory without auto equipment so keep in mind areas where the arrow type you need naturally spawns because of the pain in swapping I actually recommend not hoarding too many arrows of any one type so you can swap more easily if you ever need to swapping bows is a little easier but depending on circumstances may require a head de sacrifice it's not possible to manually drop a bow so we have to rely on the next best thing firing so many arrows that the bow spontaneously explodes this can thankfully be done without wasting any arrows by firing directly at the ground letting us pick them right back up this can even be done with bomb arrows in the rain during which they function similarly to vanilla arrows do be warned however this won't work with multi shot bow since their arrows immediately be spawned also well ancient arrows would be awesome to keep on us we've got no reliable way to obtain them this early in the run so bomb arrows are the next best damage dealers once you've actually entered a divine beast I've got super bad news while you can exit pause list via the pedestal you certain here the only way back onto the divine beast is teleporting via the map screen NPCs just talk about how cool you are for running away like a little [ __ ] baby and the direct approach has less than effective results if you enter a divine beast you better be darn sure you're already fully equipped to complete it and don't fudge it up or else that divine beast will be permanently soft locked and uncomplete Abul for the rest of the run and that isn't to say you'll even be able to complete them in the first place because I've got double triple bad news remember how to vine beasts have a mechanic where you make them tilt around to solve puzzles yeah that's on the map screen we can't use it this makes viruta Varadhan yah and Bona Boris absolutely 100% no way no how impossible terminals are only interactable while standing right side up and each of these three beasts has at least one terminal that defaults to a sideways position if there's even a single terminal we can't interact with the divine beasts as a whole is uncompleted but luckily as you may have noticed I left one define piste out Val Meadows map rotation function only does minor tilts every terminal starts right-side up meaning each is interactable from the get-go in the left wing hit the switch to open the windows giving a wind gust to let you reach the middle terminal head to the top deck to fly in the window of the locked room getting the terminal while skipping the puzzle entirely circle back up again and glide into the lower alcove it might look like you're totally stuck now but there's actually a really simple solution died a painful death divine beasts are special locations we you die and continue you've respawn at the divine beasts entrance with any terminals still activated so shuffling off this mortal coil is a 100% valid strategy there's an eyeball blocking the lower alcove of the opposite wing but since there's no penalty for falling you can just take out the eye with your first Glide and make your entrance with a second one last terminal remains a problem opening the cage requires us to move this giant stone button-pusher into the nearby button but without rotating Valle meadow it won't move on its own and without stasis we can't build up any momentum thankfully during all our shrine hunting we figured out an extremely ludicrously overpowered and helpful trick normally when you try to push an object with a metal weapon via Magni sis results are a little less than pathetic the weapon has practically zero mass most likely an attempt by the devs to prevent players from engaging in shenanigans unfortunately for them shenanigans are our specialty if linked simultaneously walks into the object while it's being touched by our magnesia swept in' the game just gives up on doing any actual physics calculations and defaults to giving link infinite mass capable of pushing even the most ludicrously gigantic objects with the power of his will alone bring a metal weapon with you throw it on the ground and use this glitch to allow the stone button pusher to realize its destiny take out wind plugin and with a decent bow in an inventory full of bomb arrows and you'll officially complete the one and only possible divine beast of the pause less run when blight Ganon will no longer appear in the final boss rush calamity Ganon will be robbed of 1/8 this health bar and we've obtained our champion ability ravioli tornado very late into the run after grabbing almost every upgrade you can it'll be time for one of the most stressful milestones climbing death mountain death Mountain as you may have noticed is literally on fire and anybody who walks into it is destined to discover they in the mountain have a lot in common up here the player takes constant damage until they either get the hell out of there or die in extremely painful death there are two ways to counter this the first is drinking fireproof elixir but of course our protagonist has gone through life without ever figuring out the concept of sustenance the second option is wearing fireproof clothing hey we can actually wear clothing so this is technically an option where do we get fireproof clothing you might ask death friggin Mountain our best bet is this NPC located at the southern mine in exchange for 10 fireproof lizards which can safely be obtained at the mountains feet he'll give you the flame breaker chess piece but since this is still part of Death Mountain and we can only change clothing at the Hatano die shop we'll be constantly taking damage on the way there and on the retreat to make matters worse the game will autosave once you reach the mine and again when you complete the side quest both save slots now reflect you being well on your way to burn a nation and a permanent softlock if you can't make your way off the mountain in time absolutely do not attempt this unless you have near maximum health a decent amount of stamina and Ravalli tornado start from Death Mountain Tower and glide directly to the nearest Hot Springs once you make it in the water you're temporarily safe not only do Hot Springs prevent you from being on fire they heal you while soaking in them giving a rest point to recover back to full health after leaving the hot spring you've got a small breather period while the water evaporates off link skin make full use of that time and whistle spring glitch to reach keema if you're making good time you should have only just barely started burning to death head directly back the way you came using a whirlwind to save time on the ascent once you're back in the hot springs you're home free the tower is only a short distance away make a few back-and-forth trips between the dye shop and goron villages armor shop and you'll finally have all the gear you need to explore death mountain completely risk-free after you've cleared every shrine you can with Magni sis you're already 99% of the way to completion but there's still a few hours of prep time before you're completely ready talk to pura and finally swap out mag niece's for the camera room keep in mind the camera has 48 shots and only 48 shots there's no way to free up space for more photos so make every shot count one shot to complete Perez tutorial quest and six shots for the two shrine quests along the southern beach once those are done start one last trip around the world to start and complete the memory side quest all in one go thus unlocking the true ending for our bonus challenge snapping Perez photo will also a monkey a call a tech lab where in return for link showing off his naked body you'll be able to craft tons of ancient weaponry unfortunately almost all of it is useless frapp they're deposited directly into links inventory and don't Auto equip buying them also carries the risk of soft locking your weapon inventory similar to the master sword so it's best not to bother except for the ancient arrows which can be safely stockpiled for later you'll one about 60 in your inventory for the endgame by the time i unlock the tech lab I had only slightly less than enough materials to craft them all farming dead and decaying Guardians for the rest once done with the camera traded in for the remote bomb plus upgrade in addition to letting you complete the runs final shrine it will let you fire the cannons on death mountain opening the way to completing just enough of the Varro Danya quest to see the rooks memory according to the internet these champion memories aren't actually required for the true ending but let's be honest facts and the internet are incapable of coexisting I'm playing it safe with the last shrine done and bombs equipped it's finally time to commit to the end of the run equip the complete and fully upgraded barbarian armor set giving a massive attack power multiplier time out your arrows just right to break your bow simultaneously with firing your last arrow add to hyrule castle and open the chests on the balcony in front of the entrance to obtain and Auto equip ancient arrows open the chest next to the village elder and reto village to obtain dr. Falco raviolis grave eagle bow a triple shot bow with high attack power and enough durability to fire 60 shots head to the lost woods and remove the Master Sword from its pedestal for your final memory and final weapon with this legendary blade the time has come to face your destiny almost almost I promise were almost there but I did want to make one last minute stop for the Hylian Shield in the castle basement the best shield in the game capable of surviving multiple direct hits from calamity Ganon zone laser cannon you can kill the styl NOx using only remote bombs plus at least one arrow directly in its eyeball a slight waste of arrows in your bows durability but definitely worth it then as I went back the way I came to exit the castle dungeon I saw the most horrifying thing I've ever seen in my entire life after getting the shield the gate closes behind you and of course you're expected to open it with cry honest this run took me a month I gave my friggin life to this thing I did tons of research on every action I took well in advance to be absolutely 100% certain I never took an unnecessary risk and the one time the one time I make an impulsive decision over a hundred hours into the run I get myself locked in Hyrule castles friggin dungeon less than five minutes away from the final boss battle can you even imagine can you even imagine thankfully while down there we did discover one of the least horrifying things I've ever seen in my entire life there is in fact a bomb above wall in one of the cells leading to the castle exterior our save file is safe and this run is still a go now let's go take out all our frustration shall we climb back up the castle absolutely decked with the best combination of gear possible and begin the battle for your destiny against water blight Ganon focus on using ancient arrows to stun him then run up close to bash him with the Master Sword fire blight is a total pushover since his weaknesses are infinitely respawning cache of bombs letting us get in free hits over and over and over thunder blight is the hardest of the three fights for the first half of the battle time a backflip just right to get in a couple flurry rushes once at half HP Thunder blight will summon in a ton of magnesia Spillers baking you to drag them up to make him embarrassingly shoot himself with lightning he's locked into an infinite attack pattern using this one singular attack over and over until you damage him and to make matters worse he's capable of blocking all arrow types with his shield automatically regardless of where you aim them or when you time your shot even ancient arrows can't break through the thing there is however an incredibly stupid ludicrously badass alternative solution climb up to the top of the room - I farm towards thunder blight - newslinks Arial down a - plunge the master sword directly in his forehead his shield will shatter breaking him out of some Agnes's routine letting you spam ancient arrows get in one final flurry rush for the kill once you reach calamity Ganon you're practically home free but don't let up just yet Ganon recovers health super fast keep the damage on him constantly or you may not be able to end the fight before the Master Sword shatters take no chances you never know what might happen oh my phone's ringing I'm sorry Becca I'm sorry I can't oh no she's calling again it's probably important um hello hello yeah how's it going I'm fighting Ganon no is it okay if I get back to fighting Ganon okay sorry see you when you get home okay right thank you she was asking me to go to the grocery store when his health reaches zero you've only got to finish the glorified gut seam that is darkbeast Ganon but you're not quite home free yet it's still possible to fail do not run straight into the bow of light though it does have its own dedicated inventory slot it functions identically to picking up any other bow in the field if link already has a bow in his hands it will be permanently lost in the bow inventory but believe it or not the bow of light is completely optional ancient arrows are also capable of damaging dark v scanner if you have enough on you you can use them to finish the battle or intentionally waste the great Eagle boaster ability to replace it whatever you choose fly up into position pull out your bow and end this epic hundred hour journey once and for all with Ganon permanently banished to the land of the inevitable sequel the breath of the wild master mode pause less run is mission complete I absolutely have to note this run was awesome an incredible way to relive one of my favorite games of all time many of the games puzzles have to be completely rethought every decision you make carries a ton of extra weight and best of all it successfully delivers on the game's original conceit according to the lore you're running around Hyrule to prepare for the ultimate final battle against a foe too powerful to face without an entire games worth of upgrades but in practice he's kind of a lightweight and traveling around Hyrule as less an epic journey and more a bunch of distracting tourist attractions limiting your inventory to a single item in each slot drastically tilts the odds and cannons favor and every single upgrade is one tiny ounce to tip the scales back on our side even in the late game I still wasn't certain I'd have everything I mean there was always the fear that I'd messed something up at the last minute which I remind you did very nearly happen with a literal last-minute impulsive decision if it's been a while since you played the game I recommend trying to run out and especially recommend doing my job for me and figuring out how to do what I and of course tune in for the companion video to be released in the next couple weeks which will explain how exactly we managed to finish almost every single one of the game shrines see you next time special thanks to all patreon backers including Andrew Symonds a friendly residents of subcon forest mrs.
