I tested this one thing and finally got to the top of Etsy search results - Etsy SEO 2020

we have to talk today I have to eat my words and all of my previous tests where I said it's impossible it's impossible to get to the top of at sea now with a new shop and with just SEO I was wrong and today you're gonna find out why and then I'm gonna go over my new theory that I told you guys about that you guys bet on last time whether or not it would work for today's test that we're revealing the results for for Etsy SEO and 20/20 and how our theory altogether that we were like this has to be it this has to be it totally bombed and I nearly gave it all up and I nearly gave up on Etsy SEO altogether for 2020 and then out of the smallest curiosity hunch shall I through a final Hail Mary football pass I tried this one thing that took less than five minutes and within a day or two of trying this one thing all of my listings shot up on Etsy search results and because I had actually given up I didn't even realize it until one of you accidentally posted about it in the Facebook group without even realizing what you were showing me then I will deep dive into step by step how I did it and where and what so you can copy me if you want then I want to talk about the theory behind this one Etsy SEO hack for 2020 that I still can't believe it actually worked I want to tell you the shocking person that I learned this new at the SEO hack from and where you can find him as well and what he had to say about all of this and what I thought it was and what I thought he was holding back and then when I discussed with Mandy malts ATS the SEO queen about it we talked extensively on why we both thought it worked and why it worked and really interesting stuff there I'll reveal that behind the scenes conversation and then I definitely want to get your comments and opinions on this whole thing and if you've seen any of my previous tests I really want to hear your opinions on this so let's get into it but first funny how there aren't any hater comments anymore I know I need to be more like to do weird ecommerce tests to see what's working right net here and now and we've done many se tests of which we have lost a ton of money by trying out ads with Etsy since we could never get up on search and despite all of fat every video where I was like I know what I'm doing with SEO I taught classes on Etsy SEO I got hundreds of people to the top of se search results within a matter of hours sometimes it was crazy despite all that a lot of you are like oh you need to work on your SEO if you're not at the top of Etsy I really thought there's just no way Etsy only promotes best seller shops and I thought for sure this was the case because also all the people who started selling masks for coronavirus they all start went out all of you besties went out and started brand new shops and none of you could get to the top of se search results for face masks so most of you either did one of two things one you pulled your shop and instead added those masks to your already best seller shops or number two you started paying for ads and bringing in sales and traffic and revenue that way so because of that in my last video I said I'm going to do one more test and the theory behind the test was that if you fuel your shop with sales then your products will go to the top of Etsy search results that was the theory and I thought that would work and all of you were like oh that's already now now we already know that works and then others of you are were like I really think that's gonna work test it test it test it so I said this is my final Etsy test and if it doesn't work it I don't know what will work so guess what I put up three products in my Etsy shop new products and I gave them funky kind of search terms to try to get them to the top of the fun key search terms these weren't search terms that people who are actually searching for and buying because I wasn't testing conversions I wasn't testing sales I was just wanting to see if I gave them some funky some funky SEO if I could just get them to the top of that search result through the sales so when I put in these search terms it was just here for the drama was the search term K was a longtail keyword that I chose to use and I optimized my listing for it and when I put in my products it was at the bottom of about 34 listings or about between depending on where you're located what country you're in sometimes it was 18 listings sometimes it was up to 45 but despite all that my products were at the very very bottom so when that happened I was like well good if I'm at the bottom and I pumped sales into it I might be able to float to the top and then I can prove my theory that its sales that does it right and because it's such a funky search term that only I was using in these 34 other listings it should be fairly obvious if I float to the top or not and a lot of you who are really worried about me and you were like oh Renae they're gonna shut your shop down that's Schilling and I said don't you worry about me I got a new computer and I got a private VPN with a secret IP address and a secret browser that's never seen Etsy before and different accounts to purchase from we're golden and I went in and purchased one of those products over and over again low and behold a couple days later it did not move so I went to Facebook and I said to all of you could you please just search just here for the drama and post the top ten listings and the bottom ten listings for me the pictures and over 300 of you posted and guess what happened all 300 of you had the same results so much for personalized search results and according to all 300 of you my products were at the bottom so the whole sales theory went out the window and I also added a couple of reviews so the whole like if you get reviews if you get sales you will go up on Etsy doesn't it did it didn't work for me it didn't work it doesn't matter how many sales I put in it just nothing would move up it just stayed like stone the bottom no matter what I did and that's when I wanted to give up because I thought if it's not sales I don't know what it could be like what in the world could it be it's just awful so I kind of gave up but I had promised you guys one more test on Etsy to see if the number of listings could affect my ratings as well so after I had posted those few and pumped into in sales to see if the sales could increase I added over a hundred products to my shop that was so time-consuming and I watched my shop for a couple days to see if things would move up and they didn't and I watched my traffic and got nothing so all of my products all my hundred products just stayed like stone at the bottom and I was like well a lot of you guys kept telling me the same thing man Renae I'd love to see a test where you don't touch anything and I was grateful you said that because I was like well let's just leave these products for two weeks and see what happens even though I know nothing's gonna happen I thought Etsy SEO for 2020 is totally dead there's just nothing you can do to gain that system there's no one can prove me wrong and then everything changed I'm still shocked that this thing actually happened I was looking on fiverr.com for something completely different and I don't know why it hit me but I searched Etsy SEO on fiverr.com and this listing showed up and I was like this is curious this guy guarantees that your listing will be to the top of SC within five to seven days guarantees it so I click on the listing and I'm like huh how are his review so good he has all five star reviews and it's not just five star reviews where maybe he bought I don't know bought his own listing and gave reviews all of his review comments raved about him and said I don't know how he did it but he really did get me to the top Etsy I thought huh this might be worth trying out even if it's a total dud it might be worth trying out just for YouTube views just to tally show you it's one more thing that doesn't work but I don't know but I thought let's just let's just try it because I'm curious I do it's not like that so let me show you his actual listing it was very interesting and by the way you can see the same listing by going to Cupcake trainings calm / top of Etsy okay but don't go there just yeah I have to show you some stuff and tell you what happened okay so here's the listing and it it seems kind of pricey like 70 bucks for one product to the first page and then you can get three products the first page for 160 or five parts to the first page for 250 I just so strange to me but he had so many five star reviews and he's a level 2 seller and yet 35 orders in his queue but what was interesting like look at his reviews I don't know how he did it but first page on Etsy after 10 days amazing 5 stars all the way how how and I thought if I order this I might be able to figure out how he's doing it maybe I'll get lucky maybe he'll tell me I doubt he'll tell me everything but if you ask certain questions sometimes you can get certain answers and kind of know things so he's first have contact me before ordering so I contacted him because I was like listen I'm a new shop I don't know if you can do this for me I have very few sales very few reviews and these are the three products and these are the keywords can you get me up and he was like yeah I was like what are you serious what was crazy is if you also look at the listing he doesn't even need your login so he doesn't optimize your listing for you at all okay so for everybody who's like it's gotta be your titles your tubs your attributes it's gotta be these seven optimization factors on your Etsy listing hidden need any of that all he needed was number one he needs the product URL and then number two this one's the big one be sure you have exactly the same keywords that you want to be ranked for on the first page at the beginning of the title and your tags that's it the beginning of your title so obviously not like later on in your title but the beginning of your title and your tags that's it it's all you need and then this was fascinating your listings must be more than five days old what's that all about holy schmoly post in the comments what is that all about none of you mentioned that to me you know filled etsy test none of you are like well are your listings more than five although some of you were like give it time give it time so maybe there is something to that sorry I apologize look at this two hundred-plus satisfied customers for the last two months and he doesn't write descriptions clearly that has nothing to do with SEO but notice this is it one two three he doesn't have well you need to have sales well you need to have reviews well you need to not be penalized well you need to have your About section he doesn't have any of those things he says make sure your keywords in the beginning of your title and your tags and your listing is five days old what can this be real that's what I thought when I saw this you must be thinking the same thing right now is this real you can see he's an expert with 8 plus years of experience and he has the listings right here so I contacted him and I decided best to go with the middle middle ground three products to see if he could actually pull it off right and I thought 160 bucks that is kind of pricey but if it doesn't work I get a good YouTube video out of it saying don't do this if it does work oh my gosh I get to make this video that I'm making right now okay so I I get the listing and he's very communicative okay and I'm actually thinking this isn't gonna work I mean just recently I did a five-hour thing for an Amazon source thing and it was garbage so I kind I kind of expected this to also be garbage but I'm all about just let's just throw something at it and see if it works right that's our whole channel so it took me five minutes to order this product and then I was like ah just leave everything and we'll see what happens I didn't plan on going back to it and for like 10 days because he said it can take like five to seven days so I was like I'll go back in ten days see what happened maybe it'll go up two slots in the search results I don't know so three days passed and I'm looking in the Facebook group and I have to show you what I actually see okay okay so this is what I see I asked you guys please search for just here for the drama and post a picture of the top ten results that you're seeing and the very bottom ten results that you're seeing and all of you posted stuff like this here is the top ten that you guys kind of all saw I mean the ads were all up here but you guys all kind of saw similar stuff for the top ten and then there was the top the bottom the top bottom the bottom 10 and here were my three shirts that I was testing and one of them I had pumped sales into it and that one ended up being the third one so for those of you who are like oh the sales get you up no the sales actually this this shirt was up ahead of the other ones and when I pumped sales into it it lower than the other two which made me totally flip out but that's a whole lot of the thing then right now anyway so you can see like 290 of the oh sorry 396 comments so so many of you posted your results and they were all the same then all of a sudden I'm looking in Facebook and I'm seeing okay it's still at the bottom okay it's still at the bottom and I'm just expecting it to be at the bottom forever at this point I'm not thinking that it's going to go up at all okay so I'm just thinking at top bottom top bottom top bottom right bottom right here top bottom top bottom you can still see my shirts down there and top bottom everything was the same and then all of a sudden after three days someone posts on this thread I'm gonna find it okay so all of a sudden I'm seeing okay Amy the bottom all of us all of a sudden I see top and and it's showing my products at the top and at first I'm like okay I need a bestie here got really confused she's posting the bottom one first there's been a few posts like that okay and then she posted the bottom which didn't have my shirts in it but I remember seeing these items this font at the bottom so then I was like wait a tick so then I looked at the next one top my shirts are now at the top top bottom my shirts are no longer their top my shirts are their bottom my shirts are gone first 10 my shirts are there again last 10 here's the top here's the top all of a sudden my shirts were a hole at the top and at this point I totally slipped out and most of you in our Z besties Facebook group most of you didn't even know what that test was some of you made guesses but none of you were 100% sure I just said help me out post and then all of a sudden the posts started flipping and I was shocked I couldn't believe it and it was just a day or two after I had hired this guy and this guy said it takes like ten days to get the results so I actually contacted I contacted him and now I wanted to figure out what it was he did why were my listings at the top and not only were these at the top but a lot of my hundred t-shirts that I put up in my shop were at the top for their search terms so I thought whatever this guy is doing it's not only affecting the three t-shirts that he's supposed to help me get to the top it's affecting my whole shot and I thought it can't be sales because I tried that and my listing went lower and then a few days later after this guy touches my shop everything goes higher I thought it can't be reduced nobody reviewed my shop everything else was completely dead it wasn't the traffic from you guys because I didn't really get an enormous amount of traffic none of you really knew which some of you knew which listings were mine but for the most part I kept that to myself and for the most part none of you knew which ones were mine or which shop was mine I kind of kept that to myself to try to not purposefully bombard my shop of traffic it couldn't be any optimization changes because he didn't ask for my login he didn't tell me to change anything he didn't tell me he didn't even look at my shop he didn't look at my About section he didn't say well did we look at the customer service ranking score he didn't ask any he didn't even use the word score okay he didn't use any of that so what could this possibly be so I talked to Mandy miss top 1% Etsy seller and I said Mandy here's what I'm thinking this thing crazy thing just happened and I can't believe it and I said here's what I'm thinking am I crazy for thinking this and I told her what if this guy is doing something like backlinking what if he's sending links to my shop or these products to get me up and Mandy said I wouldn't really be surprised by that at all she said Etsy is still trying to emulate Google SEO so it wouldn't surprise her at all so I actually actually sneakily asked him on Fiverr I was like wow I said I've noticed a lot of other shirts are going to the top is that because of what you doing right now can it have like a resulting thing as well is this one of those things that after five days listings just float to the top I don't know and I said is it because your backlinking stuff and I just threw that in there assuming who's backlinking because I thought if he's backlinking he probably will try to sidestep the question but if he's not backlinking he'll say right up front no no I'm not backlinking and that's what he did he said no no we're not backlinking anything don't that's that's Google SEO this is etsy SEO this is very different by the way he was a great guy he was so nice to me but he was as shocked as I was that everything was just floating to the top of Etsy and he tried to say like oh but the search terms that you have on those products are easy to rank for but for me it was like you have no idea because I was using easy search terms before and I wasn't ranking so it has to be whatever you're doing so I talked to Mandy again and I said it must be traffic I can't think of anything else he's not pumping sales he's not pumping reviews he's not changing any SEO beyond like just make sure it's at the front of your title and your tags period and make sure it's five days old that's it so what else could it be and Mandy actually went and talked to Ruth Ruth Rao another another celebrity coach of ours who's also like at the SEO Queen who I thought that she's started a face mask Etsy shop and did really really well with it and she did she got thousands of orders but it's because she was pumping ads into her shop it wasn't like organic SEO and she was like well I think it's actually sales I'm like but I'm not getting any sales right now right now I'm just baffled that things got to the top of Etsy because out of all of my filled Etsy tests I could not get anything to the top of Etsy it did not matter how good my SEO was it did not matter what keyword I chose it just stayed like a rock at the bottom of the ocean and even when I pumped sales into those products the products that I pumped sales into link nowhere but here's the thing here's something that the fiber guy and Mandy and Ruth all three said they said whatever the fiber guy is doing and the fiber guy said the same thing it will get you up on Etsy we'll be up in the search results but if you do not get sales you will just fly right off so this brings me to my next test see I wasn't gonna do another Etsy test I was gonna completely give up but now I'm like refreshed and reinvigorated and really excited because something actually worked so what I'm gonna do is after this guy gets me to the top of Etsy now I'm going to fuel my shop with sales and those products with sales I'm gonna be using my computer that's like different computer different IP addresses from different countries with different accounts different credit cards I won't be able to be tracked different names different email addresses the whole nine yards and I'm gonna buy those products and see if I can get those products to stay at the top of search and I'm wondering what that threshold amount is Ruth said she thinks it's between 20 to 40 sales for the product but I'm gonna test it we're gonna see but either way I'm really excited that we found a way even up search because I'm a new shop and just trying to do tests to find new cheese and you guys I think we found some Etsy cheese like we didn't make sales yet but if we can just get to the top of NC search we might be able to get some cheese so we're I feel like we're halfway there halfway to the Etsy cheese now I'm really excited about this now this guy isn't completely finished I'm actually making this video a little prematurely he's not finished with his work so I have to actually look into my stats because then I'll be able to confirm if it's traffic or not Mandy thinks it might be traffic from a bot and it might be a little scary but nobody seems to have complained about him and people keep going back to him over and over again so I'm assuming he he just is all goodness and knows what he's doing so I'll be making another Etsy video soon on the results of that meaning I'll look into my stats and see conversion rates and the traffic and then I'll be pouring sales in and reviews and stuff to see if I can get those those products to stay at the top of Etsy that way and we'll see what happens now tell me what you think tell me what you think about our findings do you think this is complete crap are you like one of those Etsy SEO snobs who already has bestsellers in your shop and you just think I'm totally full of it and that my SEO stink all along even though this proves it I have to say this proves that it wasn't my SEO that stink a lot of you were like need a reckoning I see Aaron a this present it was not that at all okay so now that that in the comments do you think my buying my own products and reviewing my own products from my own shop once the things once the listings are at the table let's see do you think it's gonna make them stick that's our next bet bet on that in the comments do you think it's gonna work and and don't be like the know-it-all he's like it's already been proven to work because a lot of you said it's just like I did that sales would make your listings go up on Etsy but it did not it did not do to not to anything if sales do anything it helps them stick but does not get them to go higher unless it's like a combination thing where things start you know the the whole momentum thing starts rolling upwards but this testing isn't really about that it's about can a newbie shop get to the top of se and make sales that's what this is about so you think it'll work let me know don't forget to
