what happens when you combine genetically engineered cat girls with a flesh monster made of flies the result is an invincible army of toilet water mutants capable of leveling an entire city because on my twitch i streamed the new vanilla expanded genetics mod completely broke my game and crashed my stream almost half a dozen times so for those of you unfamiliar with the mod i'll explain as we go but at the start we begin with the crashland scenario and some decent colonists our map was pretty bad but we'd make do either way the first thing i did was seal the insects off in the mountains so my colonists didn't eat their jelly during a mental break because as i showed on my second channel they tend to do that a lot there wasn't a lot of fertile soil around but we wouldn't be needing a lot of food anyways because our storyteller was winston waves the timer you see in the top right is from him which counts down until the next raid we had 10 days to prepare after which winston would send an increasingly large raid every single day the thing is we were going to be using an unintended feature of the genetic rim mod to take on infinite raiders and i'm not exaggerating but first we need to actually research genetics so we could get there what's the first one genetic recreation genetic alteration i think it's this one i decided to build my entire base out of wood which surely won't harm us later but to the right of our crops there was a tunnel through the mountain this is where we'd be filtering all the raiders through in order for our cat girl abomination strategy to work it also just so happened to be where we'd be doing all of our genetic experiments which was very intentional we started to give our colonists their own rooms got a mad hair suplexed said mad hair and we're about a third of the way to winston sending raids our way but we had researched the start to genetics which meant we could build our first gene morpher this is where we could insert genes to create new animals or people to actually get genes we needed to research one more tech to turn corpses into usable biomass so our colonists went and violated several wilderness conservation laws and raked in the bodies after we collected our ethically sourced fuel our genetic research finished up and allowed us to get going this allowed us to build a tissue grinder and a genome extractor both of which grind corpses into usable material for a gene morpher this would allow us to actually create new hybrid animals and people our first attempted genetic spawn was a rodent paragon a combination of rodent dna to create a super rat that transmitted the plague on its attacks but more importantly it had a 25 chance to fail being created and instead spawn a flesh growth or as i would say a 25 chance of success unfortunately the geomorphic process takes a while to finish so we need to hold off raids until then in the meantime we repurposed the local wildlife thank you hired an unpaid intern and met some traders with pets somehow more horrifying than ours our base was set up pretty nicely in a homie sleeping in a flammable box kind of way as we hunted more animals we also acquired more different genes in the mods you can mix these to create various animal combinations for example mixing a thrombo and rat gives you a thumb wrap there's an insane amount of combinations and multiple tiers of jeans right now we only had basic genes but that's all we'd ever need to get the most powerful creature in the game to increase gene production we built a second gene morpher but got interrupted by our very first raid from winston waves the raiders proceeded to walk into the map meander over to a cave and die the future of ai winsted waves also gives us a reward after each raid so we chose to get another pawn going back to our second genome maker i went to create a second rodent mutant the reason we were making these is because you get a unique type of animal from using two of the same genes called a paragon paragons are the only animals who can accidentally turn into flesh growths which is exactly what we were looking for our first gene morpher finished up and made us a growth cell growth cells are like mutant eggs we need to put them in an incubator for them to grow a second rage showed up but we beat them with the power of overwhelming mediocrity our reward was once again another colonists this time a beautiful pessimist constant raids were actually a bonus because they gave us a steady supply of corpses we could refine human dna into genes and these things unfortunately constant raids were also going to be a problem because we barely had any weapons and winston quickly sends raids larger than what any normal colony can handle i did go ahead and make a hallway of traps but that wouldn't hold for long the next raid was handled and we were presented with some interesting rewards i went with three random weapons and got crossbows and a golden spear the fourth rate came and went then our first rodent paragon was created but it wasn't alone we got a manhunter raid of genome morphs with one road in paragon and two chicken flows that sounds like a chick-fil-a meal yo i'll take the number seven the oh god it's still alive we sealed ourselves off and waited for the next raid to take care of it unfortunately the raiders bee-lined for the mountain and started digging through luckily they thought we were doing a rust 1v1 and used sniper rifles in melee in turn we got a very special reward of some random arco artifacts which somehow gave us five animal pulsars we did still have to fight the mutants so he promoted poopy to employee he got sepsis from the rat and died but back to the animal pulsars they gave me a special idea by activating them they turn every animal on the map manhunter so i sealed every entrance off and set the next raid early i mean really how effective could they possibly be in about five seconds raid number six was beaten to death as wave seven turned to eight nine and ten our army of animals proceeded to annihilate everyone and i still had four pulsers left each raid we sent early also gave us more rewards so we were getting pretty rich and just as i thought things couldn't get any better somehow they did this whole time we've been putting various mutants into growth vets this allowed them to grow but had a chance to fail and spawn a flesh grip flash growths are spores they multiply extremely quickly in the dark and spawn flesh flies flash flies are insane they have 100 armor dodge most attacks and kill everything they can only be stopped by the arcane powers of a wall yeah that's that's pretty much it by sealing off every entrance into our base we made sure the flush flies couldn't hurt us this would also mess with the ai of raiders you remember how at the beginning of the game there was a bunch of raiders who walked straight into an insect hive and died well that's because raiders prioritize insect times because they count as hostile buildings to be destroyed flesh growths function the exact same way they draw the aggro of all raiders and force enemies to go straight for them with insects enough raiders will eventually win and move on to your base with flesh growths that doesn't really happen so we waited for the next wave to happen to see the raiders get what that was crash number one i rebooted my game and streamed then jumped back into the colony everything was totally normal again and it would definitely stay that way right either way i sent the next raid early and just like clockwork they immediately aggroed into the fleshlies all 75 of them so who would win one futuristic laser-wielding cyber soldier or some buggy boys it didn't take long for the raiders to get absolutely buzz sawed wave 12 came in two and the recording crashed okay well what's causing this it can't be the number of entities because i've had thousands of raiders on my screen before and it still hasn't crashed but these flesh flies these things weren't just eating raiders they were eating my bitrate i wasn't fighting for my colony anymore i was fighting for my graphics card every time i tried to get a look at the flesh flies my stream would just insta crash the work around was to play as zoomed in as possible because zooming out was a death sentence we needed to get rid of the flesh growths without actually looking at them or my game would just die luckily they just so happen to have one major weakness fire i grabbed some molotovs and chuck one of the cave then i moved my camera all the ways to the very corner of the map and waited uh what what's happening to my screen guys i waited a good minute and when i returned we killed about 100 flesh flies and upwards of 200 flesh growths we created a strategy so potent so devastating that only someone with a nasa super computer could actually utilize it i thought flesh growths were scary because they killed your colonists but apparently they're terrifying because they'll just annihilate your bitrate seriously though this mod is amazing so a huge thanks to the vanilla expanded team for bringing back and updating genetic ren the mod has a ridiculous amount of content and replayability so i'd highly recommend using it regardless subscribe follow me on twitch or do neither and just comment this thanks
