I Built the Worlds Fastest Electric Lawn Mower

so there's nothing more manly than mowing your lawn it's the greatest weapon that we have on the war against tall and unkept grass a battle that we've been fighting for centuries and our weapon of choice has been the lawnmower but the lawnmower has two major issues one it's so incredibly loud it's a 20-something horsepower v-twin that's 10 times louder than a v8 truck the second problem of course and this is a problem that has been you know recurring issue with my entire life is it's just too slow so i decided to combine my two passions in life motorcycles and my complete disregard for lawn equipment and we're gonna build the world's fastest electric lawn mower let's go to the shop so while i'm at home depot i'm trying to not buy the dewalt lawnmowers the same ones that we use and i build a motorcycle from home depot video but here's a little hint we end up buying those mowers anyway then me and craig proceeded to play an impromptu game of charades in home depot for the next five minutes so the way we see this project going is we basically have two options we can put the mowing decks on the forks or we can attach them to the back of the bike and tow them like a bush hog or a pto mower or like a tractor because the first option looks way cooler that's what we're going to go for however we're not sure what the turning is going to be like when we put mower decks instead of a tire on the [Applause] front [Music] so the goal is to break the record for the world's fastest electric lawnmower and while doing some research we found two very important facts one the world's fastest gasoline-powered lawnmower is made by honda they powered it with their flagship cbr1000sp a 200 horsepower superbike in a fully custom lawnmower frame and it still had a functioning mowing deck honda claims it has the ability to do 150 miles an hour but the world record is held at 116. now on a side note i'm currently in tough negotiations with honda to get my hands on that lawnmower for testing purposes and to start my own lawnmower business but this is an electric lawnmower and as far as i could find the current record for the fastest e-mower is the cub cadet that just claims seven miles an hour because no one even tried to do the record my goal is to hit 40 miles an hour and set the bar super high but we first need to build it and the electric bike of choice is obviously the ktm e-free ride it has a top speed of 50 miles an hour and it's great on the grass and after we put it through some pretty tough tests it's still working surprisingly great making it possibly the most reliable ktm ever built and if we cut two six inch pieces right they're gonna get welded here that's not making the bike you see it is yeah it looks pretty good yeah i shimmed the front up a little bit there's still a little play in the rear tire it should put out this area like most experimental projects there's going to be a lot of unknown so you could spend all day talking about it or you just start building it and then fix the problems as they arrive dirt bikes themselves can be pretty dangerous so attaching a functioning lawnmower deck to it could possibly add an extra layer of wrist potentially so we are doing our best to make sure that this thing is really dialed in and is as safe as possible if that's possible [Music] yo how awesome is that check it out we got the ktm lawn mowers of course strapped it on got some hose the decks work watch this steering is not not the greatest but we're working on it we'll figure it out i can't wait any longer let's go let's take it for a spin let's go to the big field you can see exactly where it buckled like right next to the weld right there yeah we need to figure out how to get this thing to lean it needs a turn and then lean like like a like a skateboard truck right now it's just it's it's too hard to steer nope but we gotta go fix this and just when i thought we had a week's worth of work cut out for us i find out that craig had been working on it all night long and it was done and it was better than i'd ever expected yo craig that is awesome that looks so good here come let me show you guys let me show you guys what he did actually craig you wanted to say so we have a king we have pretty much a kingpin set up yeah pretty much so the main problem with with the first one was that we really couldn't turn and you couldn't you you pretty much took away all the functionality of the dirt bike but it did look pretty cool this way we have the full dirt bike sitting here full functionality of the dirt bike and if you uh move those things out i could film the bike and drive it like a regular dirt bike i should be able to do this so this should be the world's fastest electric lawnmower let's go test it out [Music] see how well most 40 44 i think i had 44. and it was working awesome and it was tons of fun but in order for it to qualify as being the world's fastest electric lawnmower it had to be able to cut grass not necessarily mow at top speed just cut grass at some point which it did greg what's going on what was that yeah oh that's not good and while i was getting really comfortable riding the kt mower that's what i'm gonna call right now unless you guys have a better name leave in the comments i may have gotten a little too comfortable and thought it'd be a good idea to try to wheelie all right i'm good you really went over the bars there yeah i did yeah i could move the deck up a little bit did you yeah right here's right here's where it got ya after a few weeks and my wrist feeling much much better it was time to set the record so we took the asset to the proving grounds to see how high the new bar will be set for the world's fastest electric lawn mower all right so the decks are sitting a little bit lower than normal so we have a little extra drag we're going to try to go for the record anyway as we'll do a disclaimer kids what i'm doing is dangerous drinking soda don't drink soda it's dangerous let's go break the record i gotta go back to the camera but i think i hit like like 68 kilometers you were flying on there did you catch me on there i tried but it didn't read right quarter should we do it one more time still one more time on the asphalt yo what is that i got 39. the tire wow they're so hot i know they're not supposed to get that rubber you feel that 39 we'll look at the uh we'll look at the bike see what the bike's at in kilometers put it together see what happens three kilometers all right guys that wraps up looks like we uh we're setting the bar at 39 or maybe 39 miles per hour that's next time

or you could just put a KTM sticker on a landroid, its already orange.. then go riding while the robomower handles the lawn.
