reads in your hearing verse 16 for though i preached the gospel i have nothing to glory of for necessity is laid upon me ye woe is unto me if i preach not the gospel for if i do this thing willingly i have a reward but if against my will a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me what is my reward then verily that when i preach the gospel i may make the gospel of christ without charge that i abuse not my power in the gospel for though i be free from all men yet i have made myself servant unto all that i might gain the more and unto the jews i became as a jew that i might gain the jews to them that are under the law as under the law that i might gain them that are under the law verse 21 to them that are without law as without law being not without law to god but under the law to christ that i might gain them that are without law verse 22 till the week became i as weak that i might gain the weak i am made all things to all men that i might by all means save some he didn't say all but he said some and this i do for the gospel's sake that i might be partaker thereof with you know ye not that they that which run in a race run old but one that receiveth the prize so run that ye may obtain and every man that strivet for the mastery is temperate in all things now they do it to obtain a corruptable crown but we an incorruptible incorruptible verse 26 i therefore so run not as uncertainty so fight i not not as one that beateth the air verse 27 but i keep my body and bring it into subjection lest that by any means when i have preached to others i myself should be a castaway father we thank you for this word god we give you honor we give you glory god we understand that your word is forever alive god we pray god that this message will go across into the hearts of the people god that they will receive it god and god have clarity and understanding god to apply it to their daily lives god and god we will be victorious in your son jesus name amen if i had to tag this message with a title it would simply be i am a champion for christ i am a champion for christ what is a champion webster's dictionary defines the word champion as a person that fights for or defends any person or calls it defines it as a warrior a winner a title holder a victor a champ according to olympic historians all great champions have to meet certain criteria in order to achieve championship status when society thinks of champions they think of people like muhammad ali a boxing champ he had 56 wins 37 by knockout and five defeats when we think about a baseball champ we yogi berra 10 world series the most held by any baseball player when we think about basketball as champions we think about michael jordan as a basketball champ six rings tiger woods was a golf champ 15 professional major golf championships when we think about boxing we think about floyd mayweather jr record is 50-0 we think about tom brady as a football champ seven super bowl wins we think about the up-and-coming newcomers that have been around for a while and we think about lebron james four rings and he's looking to add more to his collection when we think about track and field we have to consider usain bolt track champ he is the world record holder in the hundred meters 200 meters and the four by 100 meters eight time olympic gold medalists when we think about champions that that are in the bible we have to consider the champion of faith abraham when we think about a champion of prayer we have to consider the champion elijah when we think about a champion of service we have to think about the champion moses when we think about a champion of praise and worship and war we have to think about the champion david when we think about the champion of commitment we have to think about the champion joshua when we think about a champion of persistency we have to consider the woman with the issue of blood when we think about the champion of champions we have to consider the champion that hung on the cross and could have called on a legion of angels but he stayed there to fulfill the assignment for for you and i what does it take to be a champion for christ there are billions upon billions of christians that are claiming to be champions in this world today how can we obtain championship status for christ what factors do we need to apply to begin the transformation into champions we have to become the best of the best we have to become the elite in the gospel we have to become the green berets of the kingdom of god it is vital we understand that being a champion goes far beyond receiving material rewards or recognition as a christian we define a champion as a person of character i'll repeat that one more time as a christian when we define a champion we are speaking to the character of a person in other words it's what's on the inside that makes the difference it's what's on the inside of you that makes the difference when we look at matthew the 12th chapter verses 34 through 37 we'll see something that separates the evil from the champions verse 34 says oh you generation of vipers how can he be be an evil speak good things for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh verse 35 as a good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringing forth good things and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringing forth evil things but i say unto you that every idle word that men shall speak they shall give an account thereof in the day of judgment for by thy words doubt shall be justified and by thou words shalt thou be condemned if you bring your attention to verse number 34 matthew 12 and 34 we have to look up the ethnology of the word evil because some people feel like they're exempt from this word just because they're christians what does the word evil mean from the greek definition it comes from a word called pon eras which means hurtful it means spiteful it means malicious it means malice the desire to inflict injury harm or suffering on another old generation of vipers how can you be an evil a person that is hurtful spiteful malicious and malice speak good things for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh watch this the word abundance in its greek definition means pariessima it means a surplus a super abundance over and beyond let's put it together for out of the abundance the surplus out of your mouth the super abundance of your mouth over and above of your mouth you speak it my question becomes what are you speaking what type of words are stored in your heart is it words of hatred abundance says that if you have hatred in your heart you have a surplus of hatred bitterness if you have bitterness in your heart the word abundance says you have a super abundance of bitterness in your heart and at some point your mouth speak what's in your heart resentment is there a surplus a resentment in your heart anger is there a surplus a super abundance over and beyond of anger in your heart that your mouth begin to speak words from past hurt oh i know that's going to get somebody right there words from past hurt is there a super abundance a surplus over and a beyond of words from past relationships still settled in your heart and you're in your new relationship or your new marriage and when and when things arise a conflict arise your mouth begins to release what's in the holding place sometimes we are so we're so good at acting but it's really until we're under pressure that the heart reveals what's really in you it is something about the pressure place of life that reveals the character of an individual it reveals the surplus of the heart it reveals the super abundance of the heart it reveals the over and above place of the heart because you've stored it there for years and god is saying it's time for you to let that go because that's not the character that i've given you it is the words of love it is the words of peace it is the words of forgiveness it is the words of encouragement it is the words of life that the believers should be speaking out of the abundance the surplus the super abundance and over and beyond place of their heart right now you're in a place and you're in a season where you have to choose between the two choose ye this day in whom you will you will serve you can't be applying faith when everything is good and then you switch to fear when your back is up against the wall when we look at proverbs 18 and 21 it teaches us something it says that there is power of life and death in the tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof when was the last time you took an inventory of the fruit that's around you when was the last time you took an inventory of what is being produced in your life and if what is being produced in your life is what you don't want you have to go back to proverbs 18 and 21 and ask yourself a question what have i been speaking what have i been declaring and what have i been decreeing over my life proverbs 11 and 9 i just want to help somebody with their with their tongue this morning because we use it in the wrong way and we have no idea that our tongue is a savage proverbs 11 and 9 it says evil words destroy one's friendships wise discernment rescues the godly you wonder why your friendships are destroyed proverbs 11 9 your words are destroying it proverbs 11 and 12 it is foolish to belittle a neighbor a person with good sense remains silent at some point you got to know when to zip it at some point you've got to learn how to be silent because if somebody really wanted your attention they know where to find you social media has never proven nothing to me i and i'm sure like many of you that are sitting under the sound of my voice we used to take it to the street that is not a green light for you to go to the street but we came from the old school we settled things face up i really want to see what you're about when i'm in your face i want to stare you in your eyes and see if you about that life back to the text proverbs 11 and 12 says it is it is foolish to belittle a neighbor a person with good sense remains silent sometimes you have no idea what type of evil spirit that you're upon and you're just running loosely some people have road rage you have no idea that while you're talking somebody got their finger on the trigger just the other day i was telling my wife i was on my way to work minding my own business listening to gospel music i came around a curve going straight to the direction of my job and there was a guy we was passing each other and as i got up on him and he was passing me he he stuck his arm out the window and gave me the bird i started laughing in spite of his actions i said god you are still good now what would have happened if i would have made a u-turn to follow this guy because he was already in the mindset that he didn't care sometimes you got to learn how to pause and pump your brakes sometimes it's a way that god is saying i'm navigating you from this evil experience but sometimes you just want to inject or oppose your will over god when we look at proverbs 11 and 17 it says your own soul is nourished when you are kind but you destroy yourself when you are cruel proverbs 15 and 1 says a gentle answer turns away wrath but hard words stir up it stirrups anger proverbs 15 and 4 it says gentle words bring life and health a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit have you ever been amongst people that just like the lie for no reason they get a joy out of telling just a just a lie it says a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit proverbs 16 and 24 it said kind words are like honey sweet to the soul and healthy for the body when was the last time you spoke kind words when was the last time you was on your job or you was on your zoom conference and you understood that somebody needed a word of encouragement did you not know that your kind words is like honey and sweet to the soul proverbs 18 and 4 a person's words can be a life giving water words of true wisdom are as refreshing as a flowing brook do you not know that your words the right words positive words words of affirmation words of encouragement the scripture said it is a life-giving water it nourishes the receiver it is like a flowing brook it is always a supply of nourishment for somebody that's going through what are we talking about we are talking about the words of a man's mouth we're talking about out of the abundance of the surplus the super abundance the stored place what type of words are you holding are they life-giving words that could encourage somebody that they can go just a little further are there words that give people hope or do we have the time to even share a word to people that are going through in this chaotic time proverbs 18 and 20 it says words satisfy the soul as food satisfy the stomach the right words on a person's lips bring satisfaction wait a minute the right words have you ever been in a situation where somebody said i need you to pray for me and you pause for a moment because you had no idea how to either how to get in and to enter into prayer for this individual but it is something about the holy spirit when you allow the holy spirit to have his way he will teach you all things he will teach you things and he will teach you how to actually bring words upon your lips that bring satisfaction to an individual proverbs 25 and 18 it says telling lies about others is as harmful as hitting them with an axe wait a minute did you see what that text said 25-18 a man that beareth false witness against his neighbor is a maul and a sword and a sharp arrow so when you tell lies against people you hit them in three ways you hit them with an axe you hit them with a sword and then you pierce them with an arrow all from the abundance of your heart because you decide to be deceitful and fabricate lies when we look at verse 34 here it is people are covered up for success with the outer appearance the outer appearance of people are covered up for success but filthy on the inside we dress for success but we leave the inside filthy as i was growing up as a young lad my grandmother always told me she says keep this house clean even now i hear those same words echoing from my wife basically we had a conversation yesterday about that and every now and then i make a joke i say every time i put something down i say it mystery it just disappears did you hire a maid or something and we laugh we joke about it because that's that's that's our marriage but she always reminds me she says if you if you mess up something clean it back up you don't have to get ready for company if you're already prepared you don't have to look out the window and see if there's somebody outside and now you're scrambling trying to put things in place if you're already prepared we dress for success but we're filthy on the inside your outward appearance is just a cover-up but your heart reveals the real you in verse 35 the text gives us two types of treasures it talks about a good treasure and an evil treasure what type of treasure are you yielding are you yielding good treasures or are you yielding evil evil treasures evil treasures i'll tell you what that means again are you yielding in things that are hurtful spiteful malicious malice desires to inflict injury harm or suffering on another verse 36 take me to verse 36 but i say unto you that every idol word that men shall speak they shall give an account thereof in the day of of judgment what does the word idol mean let's look idol comes from a greek word argos it means inactive it means unemployed it means useless and it means bearing idle words are inactive unemployed useless and and barren inactive what does that mean it means lifeless there's no movement to it there's no motion [Music] the last time somebody spoke into your life what type of words did you receive were they lifeless did it have any movement to it or did it have any motion to it unemployed i like this one idle words are words that are unemployed it means non-working in other words every word that doesn't have an assignment to work be careful who speaks into your life because you do not want a non-working word oh that just you do not want a non-working word spoken over your life because a non-working word is words that do not have an assignment to work useless no use not serving a purpose and it has no useful qualities the last time that you i can't say that the last time that you had somebody that you thought was a bible scholar a prophet they was operating in the fivefold ministry to your intellect and they spoke a word over your life watch this you was excited because the words they actually caress your emotions three to four months later you come to realize that the words were inactive lifeless they had no movement they had no emotion they was unemployed there was non-working words and there was words that didn't have an assignment to work they didn't serve a purpose and it had no useful qualities to it and now you're second guessing yourself because you went off of a word that was idle idol also means barren inactive unemployed useless barren not producing unproductive unfruitful whenever you receive a word from somebody a great measuring stick is this itemization of this list that i just gave you are these words inactive that you're speaking over my life are these words unemployed they don't have an assignment to work are these words useless and are these words barren they will never produce anything they are unfruitful and they are productive you're in a stage you have to now guard your heart with all diligence because out of it flows the issues of life just because you're having a difficult time stop seeking to get a word just from anywhere instagram is not the bible facebook is not the bible tick tock definitely ain't the bible but because somebody gets on there and they have a in-home degree an in-home degree that you can go online and actually print out yourself and they sound good you take the word and you run with it not realizing that you just received a baron a barren word you have to come to the realizations that romans 12 and 2 says and be not conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind be not conformed don't set yourself up in the same pattern as the world don't fashion yourself as the systems of the world but be transformed you're at a place now where you got to change change your mindset the things that i used to get excited about i'm i'm no longer excited about because it's a barren place for me renewing your mind means to renovate it can i say this romans 12 and 2 we've we we hear it all the time it's okay to do self-inventory and renovate yourself just because you may be having a hard time right now does not mean that it will always be this way but sometimes we have to just sit down and get still and let god minister to us and while he's ministering we begin to renovate because now he's showing us things that we need to do differently than before renovating your mind what what is the mind i've got to now renovate my understanding i got to look at the perspective of things differently in this time and hour you have to recommit yourself to service for those that are watching by internet put in the comment box i've got to recommit myself to the service of the lord as a champion of christ we don't tap out we don't quit before things may get tough we still keep digging i've got to recommit myself to service the question may be asked why why must i recommit myself to service i'm glad you asked there are families that are stuck in a perplexed place marriages are being stretched ministries are under attack individuals people are losing hope a worldwide pandemic has caused much chaos the conversations about vaccinated or unvaccinated is stripping people of their mental space people are dealing with mental trauma because they're either under pressure they are pressured to make a decision this conversation is now stripping people of jobs and people's human rights are being compromised why must i submit myself or commit myself back to service there's a whole lot that's going on and your assignment is necessary to help overthrow the kingdom of darkness your mindset has to be fortified for global service it ain't no toss to and fro by every wind of doctrine one minute you're a christian the next minute you're a hebrew israelite because your cousin up north is a five percenter then now you want to deal in and expound on that your mindset has to be locked in because you made a statement that for god i'll live and that for god i'll for god i'll die this is not the time for fear to be your posture as a christian and i want you to get this and put it in the core of your being as a believer you are fearless you fear nothing genesis says he's given you dominion and authority he's given you power to tread open serpents and scorpions and by no means shall anything anything harm you proverbs 23 and 7 as a man thinketh in his heart is he the way you see yourself would dramatically affect how you live your life the way you view yourself will determine how you live your life if you see yourself as being victorious guess what you will live a victorious life if you see yourself as being a champion guess what you'll always ring if you see yourself as being healed guess what healing is your portion if you see yourself as being blessed and highly favored of the lord guess what you will be blessed and highly favored of the lord the blessing of the rich the lord the blessing of the lord maketh be rich and it adds no sorrow seek ye first the kingdom of god in his righteousness and the text tells me and then everything else will be added unto a faith walking individual for we walk by faith and we're never moved by what we see why because you're fearless champions they view themselves through the eyes of god when i read from genesis to revelation i view myself in the text what is god saying to me through the ministry of david i view myself through the eyes of god what is god saying to me when i look at the ministry of joshua i view myself through the eyes of god what is god saying to me when i look at the ministry of abraham i view myself through the eyes of god it's okay when you're reading scripture and you take a name out and put your name in it's okay why because as a person see themselves that's how they'll live their life so if i see myself as a father of faith that means then i'll be a faith walker if i see myself as a person of praise and worship a war when it's time to go to battle i understand that i shall recover all oh y'all y'all missing what i'm saying y'all missing what i'm saying when i go to war i shall recover i shall recover all i got a sister that lives in new jersey she she's a lady but she's a gangster when you see her she's just prissy and she she just you wouldn't even think nothing to it but sound the alarm if you're in the club you understand if she with you i got somebody we gonna knock if we bug and when she go to battle when she goes to battle if her hair is hanging it's going up she understand that she's not going to give her opponent no leverage she does this trick she'll go and get vaseline and she begins to grease herself up because she understand that if you try to scratch her she wants you she wants your fingernails just to slide off but when she go to war her mindset is i'm not coming out until what i went in for is coming with me the way you see yourself is how you will live you will live your life what type of affirmations do you speak over your life in the morning how do you set the tone for your day when you're in the mirror and you see yourself do you just say to yourself the champion is up i don't care what this day threw at me the champ is encourage yourself when you speak if you're having a bad day either you can make or break your day by the way you channel your conversation just because it's bad don't mean it's got to stay that way champions their identity comes from god and not from people or possessions just because a person drives a bentley don't mean they're a champion i know some people that drive bentleys and they got million-dollar homes and they're miserable people or possessions do not determine your identity champions are not intimidated by what others think of them he said she said i can care less i'm not moved by what people say about me do you not know that that's just a distraction champions do not need others to tell them who they are because they already know who they are you don't need validation when god has already validated you champions are people who have been through thick and thin they hold their ground in conflict and they bear up against adversity champions are people who hold out under stress and stand firm even if nobody else is standing with them if nobody else is not gonna roll with you go by yourself because champions understand that i have a reward that is incorruptible that i'm working on and it's eternal i can't put my life on pause because you don't want to go i can put my life on hold because you don't want to roll champions find a way to keep pushing when nobody is cheering them on champions are people that persevere under pressure they wait calmly and courageously i don't care what type of pressure i'm facing one thing i understand about a champion in pressure i don't care how heavy it can get if it can be moved you can push it champions resist weariness and defeat the fight is fixed for 12 rounds just because you're losing 8 out of 12 don't mean you're going to lose that was for somebody the fight is fixed for 12 rounds and just because you're losing 8 of the 12 don't mean you're going to lose god can give you the strength to get into the 10th round and knock your opponent out you're in a season right now that your opponent has no idea the type of individual that you are you're waiting patiently you're waiting calmly you're waiting courageously and when they're least it you're going to throw a knockout blow why because you are a champion you are built for this you are trained for this you discipline yourself to study on your craft on how to maneuver in this season when when we consider in doing hardships i want to help somebody when it comes to hardships because that's the pressure place that a lot of us struggle in when things get a little heavy we want to we just want to quit i was looking at this this guy's post on facebook the other day and and i wanted to re i wanted to respond but i knew if i would have responded the misery that was with the the post would have kept going he makes a statement he says i'm at a point now i just want to give up that's what the the the pope said my question to myself was why is this individual at the verge of giving up i come to one conclusion hardships the things that are designed to teach us those are the the obstacles we want to escape if you never endured hardship how would you grow understand you have a legacy you have children you have kids that are watching you how do you respond when legacy is looking at you how do you respond when your seed is watching you because your response is the teacher that is teaching in their presence when we look at the account of of the apostle paul i got more message than i got time so i'm just taking my time after i read this we're going we going to conclude when we look at hardships we got to go to acts chapter 20 verses 22 through 24. here it is a great example of paul enduring or facing hardships and it reads verse 22 and now behold i go before i keep moving here it is he says i go champions are always on the move champions are never sitting idle why because their self-discipline keeps them in a posture of training and now behold i go bound into the spirit in the spirit unto jerusalem knowing the things that shall befall me befall me there say that the holy ghost witness it in every city saying that bonds and afflictions abide me but none of these things move me neither count i my life dear unto myself so that i might finish my course with joy and the ministry which i have received of the lord jesus to testify the gospel of the grace of god now now watch this it says now behold i go movement bound compelled he's compelled to go in the spirit unto jerusalem knowing the things that shall befall me there the things that shall happen to me he's already aware of what's going to take place but his mindset is i'm still going verse 23 save that the holy ghost witness it understand it means that that word witness it means that the holy spirit is now warning him that in every city that you're going into you will endure prison and hardships verse 24 he says but none of these things move me you mean to tell me the spirit is telling him that everywhere that you're going to go for this gospel you're going to be in prison and you're going to deal with hardship and a champion's response is but none of these things move me neither count i my life dear unto myself so that i might finish my course and i'm going to do it with joy whether i'm in prison or dealing with hardships i'm still gonna finish my course and when i finish it i'm still gonna be excited about it that's a champion's mindset i don't care what i'm facing my assignment is my assignment and i still must finish my assignment with joy what was his assignment to testify the gospel of the grace of god as a believer and i'm closing as a believer it is our responsibility to not be moved by the things that is before us whether it's prison whether it's hardships whether it's afflictions whether it's being talked about none of these things move me because as a champion for christ i must finish my assignment you can put your hands together and celebrate god for the word and remind yourself that i am a champion for christ you are fearless you are unstoppable and you are a victorious individual every morning you get up every morning that you get up i need you to remind yourself i am a champion for christ this is not about self i am a champion for the gospel of jesus jesus christ and sometimes you may find yourself asking the champion a question when was the last time you trained when was the last time you studied to show thyself approve a workman not ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth when was the last time i trained so i can be effective in my witness as a as a champion father we thank you for the word that went forth god i pray that someone under the sound of my voice today realizes that their service is needed to advance the kingdom of god god calls that heart to be rededicated back unto ministry so that they can utilize their gifts and their talents you say that one can put a thousand to flight but two can put ten thousand to flight we are more dangerous together than we are apart so god i thank you god that somebody has been stirred somebody has be been reignited somebody has been encouraged to lace up their shoes to keep on running in jesus name [Music] amen on friday september the the 24th bishop will be preaching our very own bishop can we celebrate our bishop can
