in my previous video I showed you how to install the dlss mod for Starfield and I got a few things wrong so I'll correct them here in this video I'll show you how to install the dlss mod for Star field and actually get it working first of all we'll start with downloading everything we need to get dlss working in Starfield then we'll fire up into the actual game itself this is of course a mod but I'm pretty sure it doesn't disable achievements so it should be more than safe to use there are two options one of them which includes reshade so if you install that you can also get to customizing how the game looks further than just adding a dlss but that's for a separate video for now there's a few downloads and file preparations that we need to get done first of all we need to download the star field upscaler from Nexus mods in the description down below you'll find this link here titled Starfield upscale ad what we need to do is head across to the files tab here then scroll down and we'll have two options one that includes reshade and one that doesn't if you'd like reshade which includes cads opening it might conflict with these steam overlay but most of the time it should work fine if you wouldn't like to download it with reshade you can download this second one here I'll download it with so we can customize it in game I'll click manual download here then if you haven't already logged in you'll need to create an account and log in sadly once you've signed in we can start the download again and click slow download to get this ZIP then we'll save this and open it and we'll have all of these files here what we need to do is drop these into the Starfield folder so navigate across to where it's installed or open up steam then select star field right click manage and browse local files then inside of him is where we'll drop all of these files so drag and drop just like that we've Now set up this mod but there's still a few steps in order to get this working now what we need to do is download the upscaler base plugin so heading across to the next link upscaler based plugin once again scroll down manual download and click slow download after we save open the file will have it this folder here and inside of it pdperf plugin what we need to do is extract this entire folder so this one here into the mods folder here so we'll drag it and place it here just like that it'll merge with the existing one and there's our pdperf plugin.dl album come now for the final download for this we'll need to download the actual dlss dll file usually downloading dll files is a terrible idea but for this it should be safe now we can download the actual dlss dll file now for this this model was made particularly for dlss 2.5.1 so that's the version I'd recommend you search for 2.5.1 which is as far as I hear the most compatible version will download it from any server open the zip when it's done now we should have nvgx.dlss this file will play so once again into the star field mods upscaler based plug and folder now you can see pdpurf and nvgx now that we have every everything set up let's fire up Starfield and see it work its magic so opening the game itself and continuing you should see that when we reach the actual game itself in order to make sure that you have a dlss enabled hit the end key on your keyboard to bring up the upscale settings if it's enabled here then things should be working properly assuming you've got FSR enabled in your in-game settings so with dlss enabled in this menu here hit Escape then settings followed by display and make sure that Dynamic resolution is turned on and upscaling is set to fsr2 sharpening you can leave on 70 or 80 whenever you'd like but the resolution scale should be set to something below 100 by doing so we're now using dlss for upscaling instead of fsr2 even though it says fsr2 it's been swapped ad by the mod so with everything enabled properly heading back into the actual game itself things should look really good now as for performance it actually looks really good so I've pulled up an overlay him and you can see that I'm sitting at around 7 the FPS at 2K with dlss upscaling from 75 this is actually super good I'll let Escape settings display and crank my resolution scale down to 50 to really put dlss through its Paces here things obviously don't look as good but we're sitting at a solid adfps that's really good for 2K obviously this game could do with some further optimization on the developers part but dlss does a really good job what I'll do now is hit end pause the game so I can interact with this menu and we'll disable a dlss we still have FSR enabled in the in-game options so now we should be using FSR 50 resolution scale and this is what it looks like obviously nowhere as good you can especially notice details of people and objects such as barriers Etc I'll pull up the menu and enable dlss enabling it things immediately look a lot better now we're actually using a dlss and as for ifps you shouldn't really notice a difference so 68 disabling dlss still 68-ish we had to jump them just because I opened the pause menu I'm not entirely sure if disabling it in the overlay disables it properly but having a look at our FPS and how the scene looks here with dlss at 50 I'll pause it and disable it and look around again this should be using fsr2 70fps and enabling it once more still 70 and things should look a bit better but it's make absolutely short because I'm not too sure of enabling it in this menu actually has any effect I'll quickly uninstall the mod and head back to this same position and there we go we're back in the game in the exact same position now with FSR enabled on 50 and we're not using tlss dlss has a huge quality improvement over FSR and we're sitting at the same 70ish FPS so there's no FPS difference but there's a huge difference in visual Fidelity now let's quickly compare FSR at 75 in the same position and dlss 2.5.1 here's fsr2 at 75 62 FPS and dlss 2.5.1 at 75 again there's a huge quantity difference between these two and personally I definitely prefer a dlss as for FPS we're still sitting at 60 ish so there's no difference in fps but the difference in quality is definitely there now what happens if you can't launch the game once you've installed the dlss mod well for me it didn't launch properly when I didn't have the correct Nvidia dlss dll in that upscale upscaler folder when I removed just the dlss file The Game Wouldn't launch at all on top of this if you like to completely uninstall reshade and the dlss mod all need to do is navigate across to where the game file is located and either delete or move the reshade log dxgi.dr reshade.ini d3d12.dll starfieldupscaler preset dot ini and finally the mods and reshade shaders folders there are a few other files left over here generated by reshade Etc but moving these was enough to disable this completely so anyways quality huge up as for FPS there's no real difference the game still needs quite a bit of optimization under the hood to be playable on tons of setups that aren't completely Overkill but this is definitely a worthwhile upgrade if you're comfortable installing mods I don't think this mod disables achievements but should you not be getting any achievements in in the description down below you'll find a mod that enables achievements even if you have the game bonded as counter-intuitive as that sounds so thank you all for watching hopefully you found this video useful mine has been troubleshoot and I'll see you all next time ciao foreign
