hello guys crisp here welcome back to another video in this one my friends I'm gonna be testing a GeForce RTX 4070 in Starfield with the dlss frame generation mod it's actually really amazing guys and it's how the game should have come out in the first place well that and well optimized anyway moving on we're running it with the latest NVIDIA drivers and this one is the founders Edition model of the card I'm not manually overclocking it and you can see all of its specs right here in Tech powerups GPU z receptable bar is also enabled over on the left we're pairing it with the ei5 13600k at 5.5 gigahertz and 32 gigabytes of ddr5 6000 megahertz RAM and before we get into it I'm gonna show you the mod that we're using it's this one right here I downloaded it from Nexus mode and I'll leave a link Down Below in the description for it all you need to do is download it follow the instructions right here and everything is gonna work absolutely fine lastly you gotta go into the config.json right here here open it with the words pad or notepad and enable the frame generation it's set to false by default all you got to do is type true and it is gonna be working let's get into it now shall we first up let's try and guess the settings well you gotta try and guess the settings I know what I'm running right now it's getting 50 to 60 frames per second right here this is one of the most intensive areas in the entire game so expect 60 plus outside of this big city but still it's very surprising once I show you what settings we're running right here but pay attention especially to the graphical Fidelity right here does this look great does it look like it's playing at Max settings does it look like low settings for example is it 1080p 1440p comment down below I'm really curious to see what you guys have to say like I all right it's time it's time okay this is 1080p at ultra settings it's native 1080p Ultra without motion blur enabled yes my friends an RTX 4070 a 600 GPU in 2023 isn't capable of achieving 60fps plus all of the time in Starfield at 1080p this is a card that's supposed to run 1440p at around like 100 frames per second easily with all of the bells and whistles enabled and also with the LSS I guess uh but yeah this is this is just insane to me I I just couldn't believe my eyes for a second when I started this game getting 50 to 60 frames per second that's just absurd let's go ahead and enable Our Savior shall we my friends so all you need to do is Select fsr2 it's actually going to work with the LSS not FSR thankfully I set the sharpening to 69 now it works with this mod you don't need to reshade to apply sharpening like I did with the 360 TI for example and on the render resolution I'm going to set it to 66 percent which is dlss quality getting back to the game and now we're getting a 120 frames per second 110 oh boy it is so much better it might be a little bit over sharpened here with 69 sharpening though and I can clearly see that this is not native resolution there's a lot of noise you know a lot of pixelation on edges far away a lot of aliasing you know but I mean it is such a smooth experience this time holy crap and of course this will shine a lot more at higher resolutions with the LSS frame generation you know you probably have a 1440p monitor with the RTX 4070 and at 1440p it is gonna look very close to Native and look at that it still drops into the 90s sometimes but I mean it's a totally different experience yes the input lag might be a little bit weird it's not like 100 FPS input lag so it's not super responsive but it's still kind of the same as we saw previously like 50 to 60 FPS input lag but with the smoothness of 100 frames per second and this is a single player title so I think it works really well like this my friends now let's try it with 100 render scaling and by the way the dynamic resolution is enabled but it only kicks in below 30 frames per second so yeah this is 4070 it's never going to drop below it's 30 frames per second I hope now it's looking really close to Native resolution maybe a little bit better because uh we got that sharpening going on and at Native I needed to disable the dlss so sharpening was also disabled it was pretty soft of an image right now it's looking really good it's getting 90 FPS which is still very little for an RTX 4070 at freaking 1080p resolution right but yeah we don't really see that aliasing or major aliasing at the distance the trees look a little bit better as well I can see a little bit of noise around them but frame generation is working really well here with 100 dlss on the upscaler and that's basically like the laa that's what the laa does I guess so what we're doing now is using frame generation with dlaa theoretically so yeah if you don't install the dlss mod with frame generation especially you will be screwed because even an RTX 47 T can't get 60 plus FPS at 1080p are you talking to me why are you talking to me why I'm gonna shoot you goodbye oh yeah now now we got a lot of action going on we can get a feel of the oh my health is is low already okay we can get a feel of the shooting mechanics with these FPS and frame generation enabled with a little bit more into flag than without it enabled of course uh It Feels Good Guys honestly it actually does feel pretty good all right that's enough this is clearly the way to play a 1080p resolution if you have a 1080p monitor go ahead use these settings it's gonna look and play really well next up we should disable the upscaling once again and play at 1440p and for that you actually need to apply it in the desktop alright everyone we're playing at the targeted resolution for the RTX 4070 now and that's 1440p using the ultra settings preset not really the preset because the preset sets the resolution scale to 75 but yeah it's ultra settings everything without motion and blur and resolution scale to the maximum and it's getting 40 ish frames per second these are the FPS that I would expect coming from a 30 60 TI maybe you know not the f4070 the 4070 performs like the 3080 actually so dropping into the 30s it's dropping into the 30s with an RTX 4070 at 1440p Ultra damn good thing again the LSS frame generation is here with the mods and it looks really good and it performs way better because this is just freaking ridiculous my friends let's win it 46 FPS average 36 1 lows at 1440p resolution so let's set the render resolution to 66 percent this is going to be dlss quality basically with frame generation enables remember frame generation is always enabled whenever we have the LS says in this one because you actually got to change it in the config file and it changes the experience completely hello what's going on why why are you looking at me like that like what is wrong with people's eyes in this game we're gonna start counting our FPS getting 90s it feels a heck of a lot better unfortunately once again the input lag is around the same as 40 to 50 frames per second what we were seeing previously but the smoothness is much improved and once again given that this is a single player title you don't really need too fast reactions and it will be playable like this look at that over there that's probably something to do with frame generation it's a mod once again so expect a few bugs here and there anyway getting 80 something FPS there in the one of the most intensive parts of this town it's pretty good actually right now 92 FPS I mean these are the FPS that I would expect coming from this game in the 4070 at 1440p Ultra native resolution 92 FPS average 68 one percent lows almost 69 I wish it was 69 but yeah you know what I'm gonna I'm really curious to see it at 50 so this would be performance dlss wow it looks pretty good still with frame generation on top of it of course getting 100 frames per second the difference in fps is definitely not worth it but uh compared to FSR especially even FSR just the normal upscaling without any frame generation of course it looks way better than that it's really pixelated right here for example I can actually count the pixels uh and on the robot as well like look at those glass little things there yeah it's it's very pixelated with 50 of 1440p with the AI frames generation stuffs and that means that it's running at 720p internally at this point and it looks nowhere near 720p back to the native resolution and I'm gonna restart the game because now it's 4K time alright guys this is it it's dropping from 30 frames per second to be expected you know we saw 40 to 50 at 1440p and 4K is a much higher resolution and here we go ultra settings native Rays it's pretty terrible actually given the fact that it does drop from 30. you can't really lock it to 30 FPS and expect 30 Flats the entire time unfortunately so there is that look at this 28 27 there are always going to be these very very intensive areas every now and again that drop your FPS into the mid 20s mid-20s or cinematic frame rates 24 right there even though this is not representative of the gameplay the overall gameplay in the game because it will get much better in some of the planets it's also not worst case scenario absolute worst case scenario keep that in mind all right and it's already dropping into the 20s very often and in fact the the averages are actually below 30 FPS so this is definitely not recommended but you already know that dlss frame generation is definitely Gonna Save Us so it's set to the same 45 sharpening right here and it's at 66 percent resolution scale and that means that it's running quality dlss with frame generation and now look at that guys we went from 30 frames per second roughly to roughly 60 frames per second anyway let's keep on going it's uh it's not a great like a super solid experience that would be 60 plus like the input lag you can feel that it's definitely not 50 to 60 frames per second it's more about like what you'd get at 40 maybe 35 to 40 FPS input lag but it is pretty damn truth sometimes especially at 60fps and of course outside of this city you would get 60 plus a lot more often and that's really good what is hello what happened there buddy are you okay all right it was just a little stroke or whatever but all right that's it for Quality dlss it looks dare I say it looks better than native resolution you know it actually probably does because of the sharpening going on I mean 4K is such a high resolution already but it it actually looked soft at Native Rays still because of the built-in TAA and the enabling the LSS even with the frame generation on top of it on my 42 inch monitor with the sharpening going on it looks really good and lastly guys let's try it out at 50 resolution scale if this was fsr2 it would look pretty bad even at 4K resolution it would look almost as soft as 1080p because this is actually 50 of 2160 which is 1080. and with dlss and 69 sharpness it is getting 70s now so if you have a 4k monitor guys I would actually play like this because now the FPS are above 60 all of the time with the frame generation enabled of course look at that which makes the input lag feel a heck of a lot better than it did at below 60. it's really noticeable actually compared to 50 to 60 frames per second which is what we were seeing at 66 resolution scale or quality deal it says this feels a lot more responsive it feels smoother obviously at the same time because it's now above 60 of course the entire time and I mean it still looks amazing I have no clue how they can make DLS S3 at 50 resolution scale looks so good I'm not saying that it's close to Native resolution anymore or even close to Quality dlss but I would not have a problem playing like this it's not soft it's it's actually looking pretty sharp it's just it's pretty weird it's not like you are lowering the resolution it's just something different you gotta try it for yourselves and you know what I really hope fsr3 is as good as this or maybe as good as dlss2 you know with the frame generation on top of course because this is game changing right here guys okay so I'm looking forward to see what fsr3 brings to the table and I'm also looking forward to a dlss update an official one you know that's it guys thank you very much for watching don't forget to like And subscribe if you haven't already and I'll catch you in the next one very soon love you all bye bye
