competitive over a promotion that i ended up winning i thought it was all in a healthy way but i might have thought differently if i hadn't got it i guess i don't think for a second he meant what he for this position she looked him in the eye and says you need to clock out so we can go outside and talk about this she then starts rolling up her sleeves my manager was less than impressed he told her to leave and that we'd call the cops if she returned during induction on day one each new hire had to spend some time with every department to see what they did new employee was more interested in talking about the problems she had with her son than learning about work turns out the bottle of sprite she had been swigging from all day contained more gins and sprite gave a guy a raise one day title as warehouse manager his job functions did not really change and he had supervisor control over one part-time helper it was a small place to work he then proceeded to tell all eight of his co-workers that he was paid more than them and he told each one exactly how much because he got escalated to computer privileges and payroll was accessible via czech ledger quickly fixed oops and then he said that he was planning on rolling in around 10 and leaving at four taking two hour lunches he went on at length how he was way more important than they were etc etc it was a total jekyll hyde transformation the likes i had never seen before or since the power rush to this guy's head for 50 more per week and a modest title change was amazing all in 24 hours then he was fired i was in stunned disbelief that i had to fire him i went to pick up some parts from a supplier supplier how is your day going me you wouldn't believe it i gave a guy a raise yesterday supplier and you had to fire him today right me how did you know supplier i have been doing this 40 years some people are crazy when they get a tiny bit of power it happens it's likely turned into the sort of person that runs a homeowner association discretion no matter how skilled an employee is discretion can be the difference between continued employment and merit increases and unemployment director of brewing ops here hired a dude who claimed three years professional brewing experience on his resume about two months in training him to run our brew house where the beer gets made before it's fermented as part of the process boiling water is cycled through the system to sterilize clean it guy almost opened two different valves doing this both aimed directly at this crotch would have resulted in him getting literally 300 plus gallons of boiling water poured onto him his dong tried to have a talk with him later that day about why he did that how to make sure he didn't do it again dude slammed his fists on the table yelled that's bulls you told me wrong at the start of convo fired the next morning i won't hire that guy to run the fryer at mcdonald's too likely to dip a hand in to grab a loose nugget restaurant gm came with the idea to have employees do an anonymous survey most replies were about how much the gm was a bully fired his own idea got him fired that and he was a power hungry frick job that's pretty satisfying supervisor punched another manager because he forgot to process his fantasy football transfer requests in time my workload increased considerably that day fun times as the commissioner that is very unprofessional one guy was late 23 freaking times in a two-month period hadn't even been there a full three months instead of firing him management suspended him for a week this idiot calls corporate and tells them that he's been treated unfairly so the store manager and his department manager have to have a meeting with him and he shows up 15 minutes late to the meeting when he finally showed up they just fired him a guy at my warehouse job asked another if he had visited the capital of thailand the victim confused replied number and was then slapped on the dong by the other guy that ball slapper got fired quicker than the guy who broke out coke on our smoke break best worst college job i ever had bangkok my sister owned a restaurant it had security cameras mounted outside the delivery door on the back side of the building i worked for her doing the books and alcohol inventory around 7 30 8 o'clock the prep crew comes in to prep for lunch as well as me a chef and a waitress i'm sitting in the basement office computering away when all of a sudden the waitress comes flying in with one of the chef's w a horrified look on her face she said she was out on the patio and heard a noise so she looked around the wall and found one of the prep cooks slapping his salami in the corner by the delivery door we quickly flipped on the security camera and sure enough this poor kid is in the corner behind the restaurant absolutely beating himself like a drum we all laugh hysterically and wait for him to finish when he came back in he washed his hands and then was asked to come to the office guess who got fired for spanking it at work poor kid he was mortified and started crying it was quite embarrassing for all of us when he came back in he washed his hands hey at least he washed his hands worked as an assistant manager at an electronics store and had one employee pull a prank on a third key her mom used to be the manager so she thought she was untouchable third key didn't appreciate it so i brought her into the back and she refused to apologize and was hostile the entire conversation so i sent her home on the way out she threatened to see said employee in the parking lot at close making a fist of him i called her back into the store and told her she no longer worked with us i worked in a cinema and there was this student who helped out as a projectionist during his time off school apparently he used to sneak his friends inside the projection room so they could watch the movie for free from there one day he called in sick but his friends came anyway and because the guy wasn't at work they simply asked his boss if they can watch the movie upstairs again our boss called and fired him while his friends were still standing in front of us i know somebody who got fired as a projectionist because they thought it would be funny to intermittently draw lines on the film with sharpie as it was feeding into the projector so that the audience would occasionally see a dark line in the middle of the picture when i worked in dentistry a fellow nurse was a bit of a liability she ended up treating an old-school acquaintance read enemy and decided to disclose the patient's medical history to their mutual school friends massive complaint nurse fired and rightly so was a supervisor at a tech support call center center had group chats for each team where agents could talk among themselves mainly to ask questions or for help while on a call most of the subs including myself were pretty lacks with it and led the teams hold conversations as long as they weren't overly distracting kept sfw and legit questions got answered first all was good until i got an agent on my team who at one point proceeded to post racial jokes in our team chat that we happen to be sharing with another team i shut down the chat opened another work only and pulled that agent into the write-up room intended to just talk with him about it and the punishment was going to be a write-up in one week without chat access his first reply to me in front of another sup witness was who's a b but p that complained it was me i look at the other supervisor and we both just walked out of the room without a word i walked down to hr and got approval to terminate within five minutes a very vocally disgruntled agent was then walked out of the building within 10 minutes from then there was this one customer he refused to help he always called someone else one day no one could stop what they were doing so he had to take a dollar bill from said customer he laid it flat on the counter and sprayed it on both sides with lysol until there was a literal puddle on the desk as the customer stood there waiting for his change that was the final straw with that one bartender i know served three drinks and hit on a group two girls while ignoring the rest of the restaurant but he tried to get them to go to a club with him when he was often do blow probably wouldn't have been too quick to fire him if the girls weren't secret shoppers young guy on his first day left during his 20-minute break and didn't come back until almost three hours later when questioned he said my friends invited me to breakfast so he went out to a restaurant to have breakfast with them and came back to work after he was told he can't do that you only get 20 minutes he said oh sorry this is my first job i've ever had the next day he disappears after first break again and comes back about two three hours later and says he went out for breakfast with his friends again like it was no big deal fired on the spot edit to clear things up for some people the 20 minutes was for the first break of the day we had another break later that was 30 minutes long a total of 50 minutes of break in an eight-hour shift 30 minutes is a legal requirement here in ontario for a period of eight working hours the actual law states that workers cannot work for five hours without 30 minutes of break to eat therefore most companies will make that break happen at a time so when it's over there are less than five hours left and the shift by doing this they can legally only let employees have 30 minutes total because of the loophole of not having another five as worked consecutively it's pretty crappy of most places to do but it does not break the law to do this really nice for being understanding for the first time people can be very clueless about obvious things sometimes so i think explaining that was not okay and letting him have a second chance was super nice openly did coke at a company party no one cares if you do coke just go to the bathroom so we have plausible deniability we had a guy who worked with us who had brain damage management let him get away with a lot out of fear of a lawsuit mainly he liked bragging about how many girls asses he'd touched he'd apparently just walk up to girls in public and grab their butts then come into work and brag about it while it's kinda skeevy you can't exactly fire someone for that i also heard him bragging about something he did on tinder once but i didn't hear the whole thing i wouldn't be surprised in the least if he was bragging about sending girls dong pics though anyway what got him fired instantly was when he started hitting on a girl at work she told him no so he threw a stapler at her head instant termination bragging about sexual harassment definitely falls under the can be fired for list even if it's not happening at work talking about it openly could easily be considered as creating a hostile work environment as it could easily be overheard as making sexual remarks a girl in the gas station i work at was fired for punching a customer who was trying to steal her snickers she made up this bull's story about how he spit on her or something but the cameras caught everything apparently he was an older man on crutches the ceo of the company got the video and she was fired instantly i worked at a tourist attraction and we had a small shop that made and sold fudge well one of the girls that worked in fudge stole a whole duffel bag of fudge she was fired the next morning thanks to you i now have duffel bag of fudge as a concept and it will stick with me for all of time at a small startup we found that one of our junior developers had a twitter account where he tweeted all day long about how much the company sucked and how unfair it was that we were making him fix bugs in the software found the account at 5pm and he was crap canned before he could even make it back into the office the next morning a server got caught ripping off people with three dollars off coupons he went to a paper machine stole all the papers to get the three dollar off coupons and was able to pocket the three dollars on cash customers what he did not know was the coupons are numbered and all of his that he turned in were in sequential order summer job when i was in high school i was a lifeguard at a country club some hotshot all-state swimmer worked with me and acted like he owned the place he never did anything other than check out the women who came to the pool we guarded on rotation and it was now his turn to be in the high chair not too long after a little girl almost drowned cause phelps up there fell asleep fired immediately she didn't want to help me do the store windows displays because she could break a nail doing it i thought she was kidding but no she was dead serious she was mad at me for firing her she didn't showed up for work didn't call or anything she was mad at me for firing her she stole from the store yes she was also mad at me for firing her he spit on the floor inside i wasn't the one who fired him but he was still mad at me for not defending him it's like living in the twilight zone who raised those people not an employer but a sort of manager i worked at a large mechanic shop as a glorified janitor in college i worked cleaning stuff or refurbishing old parts but sometimes turned wrenches as a mechanic when it got busy one summer got really busy so i was being a mechanic more than cleaning and the place went to crap to make up for it my boss hired some high school kids and had me train them easy peasy after that i was supposed to dole out a chores list every morning to them one kid was lazy and my boss knew it so he told me to give him the harder chores to break him in which actually is how i go good at my job in the first place a chore that needed done one day was to weed whack the property which was rather large it was most definitely the hardest sure that day told the kid to it and he went off an hour later one of the other kids approached me and said the lazy kid tried to pawn off his task to him because he didn't want to do it because he was above the other new hires boss didn't take too kindly to that and fired him on the spot i held a temp agency job to put up some warehouse shelves they asked me to weed whack their whole property about four acres i did it but it took about three hours the guy i was reporting to handed me a 50 cash bonus on the spot for doing it without complaining i was cajoled and convinced to hire my then gf sister's boyfriend to help out in my old business refurbishing buildings it was just two weeks work so i hired him what's the worst that could happen all he had to do was fetch and carry tools and certain bits of product nothing heavy nothing tricky just fetch me that hammer get the ladders see that timber put it on the trestle so i can cut it etc by the third day it had all got on top of him fetching hammers as tricky work obviously so he decided to go to a house near where we were working and get out of his head on drugs and drink i hadn't seen him for a bit so i go look for him and find him with his eyes going in seemingly different directions sitting on an armchair with powder on his nose some weed in one hand and a can of beer in the other he was off his freaking head i sacked him but i even tried to help him by saying to tell everyone that the company decided we didn't need an extra guy anymore however this was not good enough number so he told his gf i just didn't like him and had fired him for no reason she then got onto her parents i then had my gf her sister and their parents all giving me crap this berating quickly stopped once i flipped my crap and told them what really happened congratulations now not only did he prove he was a slacker he also looked a drunken druggie who had to lie to cover it all up i have no idea what he thought would come of it idiot never hire friends or family always take a pic we have video recorders and download the violation onto a stick drive for unemployment requests for benefits sounds like yours is a smaller business but it can save you from lawsuits as well you might scroll to the bottom of the comments for an unusual term we had that i posted cameras unfortunately only recorded the truck i worked in a call center one guy was particularly salty one day and left while telling a buddy he was going to burn the place down one day but someone else overheard him and he was gone the next day i wasn't actually around for this but i heard all about it a guy at a car dealership i used to work at got a promotion that he probably wasn't ready for and the stress was getting to him one day he approached the service manager about getting something done quickly for a vehicle that just sold when the manager told him that they were too busy to fit it in that day he snapped and grabbed him by the throat it took two guys to pull him off he got sent home for the rest of the day and in the morning he came in for just long enough to clear out his office apparently he is at another dealer and doing much better now was a manager at a sales call center girl would have two headsets on one for work and the other for her unemployed gf that wanted to talk to her all the time to make sure she wasn't at work cheating on her funny thing is she got fired for watching movie trailers on her computer which was right in front of a security camera when i was a manager in a call center in my late teens i walked past a member of staff smoking weed with his mates outside the office i wouldn't have minded it was sort of the done thing in that place but the thing was he'd called in sick that day and when i walked past him he said that if i told anyone he'd freak me up so i sacked him edit r.i.p inbox lots of people asking for more info or calling bulls on me being a manager in my teens this was a real cowboy operation cold calling selling telecoms to businesses in south wales i started working there at 17 and was there six months before being promoted to tell a sales manager i was inexplicably good at my job so i think they just wanted to keep hold of me this company would get 10 15 new starts every monday with the expectation that two five of them were still working there by friday then repeat the process on monday in hindsight i think it must have been some sort of money laundering scam the md would come to the office once every couple of months and take the managers out to get drunk and do a lot of sea he was also much more interested in getting new stuff through the door than actual sales or income i left after about 18 months to go to uni and the business disappeared shortly after when this incident happened i went back upstairs and had a good laugh about it with the other managers but they asked why i didn't sack him there and then and i responded that i didn't think it was in my job role they handed me the phone and told me to call him and tell him not to come back we put it on speakerphone and could hear his mates laughing in the background he called me a c and hung up on me never saw him again oh easy 10th grade teacher testing new hires in a classroom setting wednesday was a guy i already wasn't a big fan of he spent a lot of time trying to be the cool guy who doesn't care asking about how many vacation days he has and when he can take them in the days immediately following getting his job making fun of the teachers who dress formally for their job newsflashbud we have a dress code as well and just a general nonchalance that was totally inappropriate so this hire is having his classroom day and he writes something on a piece of scrap paper and slides it onto a student's desk with his back turned thinking i didn't see i thought maybe he was trying to tell her something without embarrassing her like maybe she had her fly down had started her period or even was just working from the wrong chapter of the book i took him aside rather than calling him out in case that was the situation i said what did you just hand the that student point blank without skipping a beat my cell phone number i walked right back in there and got the paper from the confused and uncomfortable looking girl to verify this and sure enough he had with a smiley face i asked him what gave him the nerve and he said come on man this is high school you've been there right one look and you know she's way past puberty if there's grass on the infield play ball we filed a police report and sent him packing worked at a daycare employee told four year old get your hands off your pee in front of the district manager people who got fired on the first day of the job what happened hired by a chain store first day of work still in the back office filling out paperwork dealing with hr manager says to me i sent in the automated personality test and corporate says i can't hire you i'm sorry they didn't pay me for one stroke two a day though if you ever have to take on of these tests always answer report to my supervisor even if the correct answer is pull the freaking fire alarm and get as many people out of there as possible all they are looking for is someone who is incapable of challenging authority i just got hired at sonic drive-in they had secret customers come in fairly regularly who order and eat the food then judge the employees and restaurant on how well they handled company policies and stuff well the current employees have been getting horrible grades lately like the highest in the last two months was 68 stroke 100 the owner walks in and says the next person who gets below a 90 is fired so on my very first day they put me on drive through which was a nightmare and sure enough i find out later that a secret customer rolled up owner comes back in at the end of my shift eight hours later who was working driving through today you got an 88 you're fired and then left so that's how i got fired for being the best employee there on my first day so on your first day you got a higher score than the previous secret shopper scores you did better with no training than people working there longer yet they fire you that owner or manager is definitely the reason why the scores are low pizza place i asked what my pay would be and whether the training was paid this was highly offensive to the comically italian man who owned the pizza place and he said that there was no need for me to come back the pizza was awesome though so i still got pizza there i wonder if this counts i once got hired by a magazine to do some translation work it was a freelance gig so we didn't even do any official paperwork beforehand or anything when i arrived they said oh so sorry we already had someone come in and do the translation i was livid i asked why i wasn't notified they had no answer and essentially fired me on my first day about six months later i'm working somewhere else and i get an email from the same local magazine asking me if i'd like to come in and translate some stuff for them i was in a bad mood so i went totally out of character and went off on them via email but in a professional tone i basically said i do not respect you or your boss for treating me this way please do not offer any work to me or ever contact me again two days later i get an email from them telling me that i've been fired for insubordination got fired on my first day at my first job during high school mixing custom colors at a paint store i followed the formula exactly according to the manufacturer's specifications but the resulting color didn't match the sample as mentioned here some time ago the paint store owner fired me on the spot in front of customers even though it turned out to be his fault for not having updated formula specs he had received from the manufacturer that sucks but it seems that you got out early of what would have been a crappy job i applied for a public safety position at a municipality legit medium-sized town of about 50k people and got called in for an interview i show up to be informed that this is a three-part interview first with hr then a physical agility test then a panel interview which includes the mayor city manager and medical director mind you i was never told about this process it isn't in the job posting and i'm in a god damned suit i do the hr part then go to the pat look like freaking rich eyes and running a 40-yard dash only doing an entire pattern show up decently sweaty at this panel interview fairly certain there is no way i'm getting hired for this job i proceed through the interview they ask some completely generic questions i can understand some with a few job specific questions mixed in but no this is all if you were walking in the woods what animal would you see questions then one of them stops the interview and says we've heard enough can you come in tomorrow day after skip thursday and come in friday that'll be your orientation i said i didn't know i'd be working here tomorrow i still need to give my other job a two weeks notice also am i being offered the job what's the compensation package the mayor responds you work here now and you need to make us a priority we can discuss pay after your orientation is over wtf i said i still need to give notice to my current job to which he proceeded to tell me not to bother we wouldn't be a good fit and to turn in any equipment and uniforms um what equipment what uniform so i'm not sure if was fired quit or never hired but they sent me a check for eight hours so i think my story qualifies you walk out the door shuts the mayor's head droops gentlemen we just lost the best dang employee this municipality has ever had first job at 14 as a bus boy shown 500 things in the kitchen and thinking i would have to remember them all shows me how to be a host on top of all this i say can i do that tomorrow instead as i wanted to focus on learning what they showed me already ten minutes later i'm called into the office handed twenty dollars and told i'm not what they are looking for it was a good life lesson head a lot of restaurants are like this i got hired as a busboy at one when i was in high school and they wanted to fire me after my first day because i didn't already know what to do this was my first job as a 14 year old the manager of a local bagel place told me i could work a few days a week in the summer i worked my full first day cutting toasting bagels all day the owner came in at night to pick up the cash and told the manager that they didn't have the money to pay for a new employee i was told not to come back i did get free bagels from there though the manager still remembers me and it's been over 10 years hired by a michelin star restaurant for my first ever job they expected to take me on and train me up on the job and pay less for me than already trained staff but when a member of staff didn't turn up i had to attempt silver service with no knowledge obviously i failed so i ended up polishing cutlery with the owner of the restaurant we got talking he said he saw potential in me to do better things in my life and just said that i should never follow his footsteps and put my passion for food ahead of my other passions interests as it will ruin my life later he talked to the manager at the time told me i could use them as a reference for future jobs and i was given a weeks rather than a day's pay i got a job as a waiter at a supposedly new upscale restaurant my first day was the day that they opened we had to be there at 8 00 am in order to get everything ready for the grand opening i didn't know that scrubbing floors on my hands and knees was a part of my job description as a waiter but i did it anyways in my brand new perfectly clean uniform by the time 3 30 p.m rolled around none of us had gotten any breaks so i asked my boss if i could take a lunch break he said yeah i'll give you a break you're fired as far as i know the only thing that i did wrong was asking for a break when i went back at the end of the week to pick up my whopping 20 check most of the weight staff that i worked with was there too it turns out that the boss fired a few more people and the majority of the rest quit the place went through several changes in management before it shut down about two years later the parking lot was never very full even during peak hours got hired when i was young to a paintball field and on my first day i was just supposed to observe a game and watch see what the referee does during the game and got fired for not intervening when a player rushed too quick and close to an enemy even though i was just supposed to learn that day my friend tried to drive a golf cart without knowing the host from the power washer was wrapped around the wheel ripped the whole thing out of the wall classic forgot to check the wheel hoe spool anchor what a rookie a friend of mine worked as a server at a cafe and was bringing chips and dipped to a table when he set the chips and dip on the table he took one of the chips and dipped it and ate in front of the customer and his manager he was fired on the spot what did he think would happen was the second or third day but first day working with the boss at the end of the day the shared hill comes up shorts a little over five dollars i know the exact transaction too he was slow on the register so i left it beside the till it went into his pocket he tells me i have to make up the difference out of pocket i politely refuse and inform him that's not permitted by the employment standards act he blows a gasket and i leave with him yelling at me he was fined 250 dollars the sad thing is the woman who'd worked for him for five plus years had been starting her shift by putting money in the till to cover any errors she'd probably put in more than 1 300 while working for this jerk the chick-fil-a i worked at did that i busted a nut and pulled up the page of the act and showed the manager and he basically said well that's fair if you called them out on stuff they wouldn't push it but i know a ton of people who had to reimburse their drawers got hired for a warehouse position probably 15 years ago was 10 minutes late my first day because i lived 45 minutes away and the main highway got shut down due to a multi-car wreck i called the boss and told him he said no worries got to the job and was fired for being late technically second day since day one was my interview and i did some training i harvard a sleeping disorder that was at the time undiagnosed this is important i was to be there clockton at 7am at a box factory which felt like a conspiracy during training like we were just moving money around from cardboard folder to cardboard folder in a big circle giant slabs of cardboard came to us inside of huge boxes which we then shaped into boxes and filled with slabs of cardboard and chipped out i felt like the chain probably kept going infantly until our same cardboard looped back around to us regardless i was to punch in at 7am to join the circle of box life and i woke up staring at a clock reading a.m and panicked i immediately called my boss on a sincere i am so sorry i don't know how i overslept even though i'd lost jobs over it before just never on day one and i can be there in 15 minutes are you freaking kidding me is this a freaking joke quit wasting my time click i groggily stumble the frick out into the living room where my housemates are playing guitar hero and i'm kind of in a state of shock because while i get four hours is an absurd amount of oversleeping i've never been shouted at like that before i start explaining that to them when it dawns on me one of my buddies who is currently trying to best his reigning blood score should be at school right now he has class on tuesdays trevor you skipping today he looks at me and just reminds me his schedule tuesdays and thursdays yeah dude it's tuesday it's wednesday dude i had slept from about 10 p.m monday night until 11 a.m wednesday now i'm on an anti-seizure drug and can live without being terrified of whether or not i'm going to be able to wake up the following day but that is the only time i got fired on the first day i lost a lot of jobs i didn't like over that crap this is probably the best it is wednesday my dude story not far but i showed up for what i thought was my first day in a title was then told no i wasn't hired for that job but for another one that i didn't apply for and for less money i was thinking about my options when i went to break room to grab a cup of coffee while pushing the lid down the cup compressed covering me and my white shirt and car keys i went into hr and told them that it wasn't working out and i was taking this as a sign gave them a piece of my mind about their hiring practices and crappy communication and bounced got a call from them on friday asking if i wanted the job i thought i already had back in the late 80s a guy was employed at a small factory i was working in he vanished halfway through the afternoon and couldn't be found anywhere he wandered back and about half an hour later eating a big ice cream cone he was asked not to come back the following day i got a job at a dry cleaning place in the back every time i stood up i kept hitting my head on the rack thingy didn't matter how careful i was it was always there pretty sure it was living and just freaking with me anyway owner told me it wasn't working out on my lunch break sounds like you just weren't a good fit i wasn't the person but i used to work at a hospital delivering food trays one day this new girl started very beautiful very prim very proper she was apparently extremely rich and her parents had forced her to get to regular people job to teach her the value of a dollar i'm not sure if she had made some fiscally unwise choices or if it was just a parenting method or something but there she was with us this job wasn't really dirty or anything i mean hospital environments are somewhat unpleasant but all we did we put pre-made food into ovens and then serve it to people cleanup was pretty gross but nothing extreme anyway she couldn't believe that we had to handle food and push around these big carts it was unfathomable to her she thought it was putrid and difficult she cried on the elevator on her way to deliver the first batch of food i don't know if she quit or was fired but i never saw her again one of my nannies when i was a little girl was fired the first day of work she asked my mother if she could go to her house for crayons and since she lived a few blocks away of our house mom said okay one hour passed and she did not came back so mom went to the house of the nanny and saw her drinking tea with her mother she did not even bother to apologize mum told her to never come back but the nanny did not understand what she did wrong so she came back next day and sat in front of our door mom told her to leave and she never came back i read this in a really posh accent went to an interview at a clothing store mostly athletic stuff let's call them chair so i show up to the interview do the whole thing let them know i'll be on vacation soon but i'm willing to work with them on that i get a call later saying i'm hired and to come in to sign some stuff and then i can start my shifts when i return from vacation awesome so i return from vacation give them a call and they tell me a time to come in i show up and they ask where my resume is i told them i didn't bring one they scolded me saying always bring a resume to an interview i was not aware this was an interview since i've already signed forms saying i was hired i do the whole interview and ask at the end about the forms the manager who had hired me no longer works there and apparently that means i no longer work there either so i get a call to come and for my first real shift turns out it's an interview with another manager so i'm sitting through this third interview after i've been told twice that i've been hired and she says they'll give me a call after a week i follow up and i'm told like i said before if we need you we'll call you i haven't called you so we don't need you please don't call again so that's how i got hired and fired three times and wasted sixty dollars on parking for the process i started a job as a student mechanic at my university paid like crap 9 hour i believe but it would help pay the bills and buy beer flexible around by school schedule i'm a diy mechanic and have done basically all of my own work on all of my seven cars from doing brakes wheel bearings to replacing an engine the job wouldn't be anything like that though described as just basic things oil changes basic inspections sweep up the shop go on runs to the parts store if something was needed and couldn't be delivered go on runs to pick up cars or drop off cars at an off-site shop body shop usually didn't do bodywork on site anyway i'm there starting the job i'm tasked with power wishing the undersides of buses big vans the underside of a bus is a growth place especially in northwestern ohio thick grease sludge etc i'm not complaining though it's 90 degrees with 110 humidity and sunny outside i'm sweating my balls off on the ground covered in grease power washing the underside of the third bus of the day probably hadn't really seen anybody except one guy showing me how to use the power washer and such then near the end of the day i drenched in sweat and water and grease was approached by the manager who said something like you know it seems like you're not really into the world we really need someone motivated to get stuff done and i totally get it if you don't want to do it anymore i was like daffodic i had like five minutes total of interaction with other people on my entire shift i mostly just kept to my own business power washing buses until my shift was over i was pretty peed because i just did some of the most miserable work imaginable for hours for like forty dollars who tf would be enthusiastic about that kind of work anyway i wasn't exactly fired but i didn't return for the next day but got a much better job at a help desk for police corps software stuff paid better and i basically sat around the whole time watching youtube already taking the occasional phone call i used to work at a warehouse that had a lot of temps and had a guy disappear after lunch on his first day after asking around i learned that he was riding circles around the island at the entrance to the industrial park about a 12-foot loop and the cops happened to ride by they pulled him over and arrested him for what my manager claimed as being high as a kite but he said he had lost his wallet and was just looking around for it place was kind of filled to the brim with people on something from weed to coke even had a guy who would come in every day with a big water bottle filled with just orange juice mhm sure employees of reddit what was the most ridiculous hilarious complaint you ever received my work has won men's toilet had one co-worker complain that another guy kept using the bathroom before him and doing big goal pose but the way he said it was like this guy knew when he was about to go ninja didn't just before him dropped a massive stinker and then forced the other guy to marinade in the smell when he went for a leak afterwards we ended up adding a cannot air freshener to the bathroom and the next complaint that came in was the pool guy never used it i've worked in several where they install those auto air fresheners beforehand it smells like crap after the fact it smells like crap rolled in cinnamon 20 years in hr two female employees visited me to complain that their female team member didn't wear underwear under her work pants she wanted to lodge a complaint against a colleague who had a new tv delivered to the office instead of home and she thought her colleagues spending money on the tv was irresponsible i recently had hr tell me that one of my staff had been under supplied in his annual leave over the past few years and he needed to take at least 10 days off over the next six months to correct the leave liability paid at a higher rate than usual to make up for the error of course he could take a two-week block or say a day off a week until he'd used the leave his choice he was so enraged over being given extra paid holidays that he wrote to our general manager to complain screamed at me his boss i know my rights refuse the leave or even to discuss why he wouldn't take it anyway i wrote his performance review this week and there are multiple goals about professional respectful behavior that need to be reached in order for him to get a raise this year yeah not so much oh and he still has to take the 10 days off hr consultant for 10 plus years you won't believe the amount of times i've had to shut people down for trying to sell their pyramid scheme side hustle in the office our hr got involved when an employee attempted to sell her used sports bras on the lunchroom table she needed the money to fuel her mlm habit not hr but i have a story about an hour person that i will never forget the company i worked for hired a new girl in the hr department she was young and very enthusiastic i'm sure this was probably her first job out of college cut to a week or so later and i'm riding in the elevator on the way up to the executive floor and she steps in with me a couple floors later we stop and an older gentleman wearing a polo shirt and jeans gets on before i could greet him she says pretty casual for a work day how i had to stifle my laughter when he replied with that's one of the benefits of owning the company she turned an amazing color of red that i haven't seen since it was all in good fun though she ended up working there a long time to be fair if i was the owner i'd have admired that she's brave enough to pull someone up for dressing too casually for the job which means she obviously takes her job very seriously an employee used very derogatory terms to make fun of a customer who was in the back of the store while talking to the customer who was at the counter who happened to be the other customer's mother yikes was once asked to investigate a sexual harassment situation where three different women were coming on to a male co-worker throughout their shift i took down the details got the names easy peasy investigation so i thought a week later nobody by these descriptions or names had ever worked for the company i decided to talk to the gentleman again after a lengthy conversation where things didn't quite stack up i asked him how these women communicated with him i crap you not with a straight face he looks me in the eye and replies telepathically like i'm some kind of idiot i had never sent an employee for psychological evaluation up to that point and i hope never to have to again so yeah i was asked by a delusional schizophrenic to conduct a sex harassment investigation on the voices in his head it's all fun and games until he blurts out shut up uw in the middle of a meeting my hr department once fell for a phishing email and sent everyone's w-2s to a random hacker hr then informed everyone via a mass email with no read receipts at 9pm on a friday even though multiple people were on vacation and had left instructions to be called in an emergency when i got back from my trip a week later and expressed my concern about are not actually notifying me about this she totally brushed it off i said do you realize that i need to freeze my credit and i'm seven days late in doing so she said no don't freeze your credit you won't be able to use your credit cards if you do another time during a workers comp claim i needed to speak to our claims adjuster and she said an adjuster doesn't get assigned until after the claim is settled that's the exact opposite of how that works she was my stupid complaint i was a manager and had to call our hr in on this one we had a computer that was used by multiple people and a couple of girls complained that it had a virus and pee was always popping up when they turned it on in the morning i decided to have look-see if someone was freaking around on the closing shift so i looked at the security footage and lo and behold one of the supervisors was watching pee and jerking off when we called him and he didn't deny it but said technically he didn't pull his dong out he just played with it in his pants so it's not really that bad the hr guy just looked at him didn't say a word until after what seemed like forever the jerker said so i guess i'm fired and then walked out smart response on the hr guy's part my partner is in hr someone took a crap on the job site he was given a photo complete with measurements the people that complained wanted dna testing done he's still not sure why they measured it so they can match the projectile with the butthole that fired it obviously i told my co-worker as professionally as i could that it wasn't appropriate for her to be using her phone while at work teaching kids supposedly she spent all her time on facebook little kids will be screaming and wailing on each other literally 10 feet away and she was totally oblivious she complained by email to hr that i was rude and confrontational they pulled me aside and told me to be more careful about how i spoke to co-workers i told them my side of the story they spoke to her again she got a written warning they didn't tell me what happened but i gather from office gossip that she lost her crap and started shouting at the hr staff rude and confrontational perhaps anyway she's on her final warning now and she has a habit of hitting on the married dads of our kids involving children in adult matters why hasn't your mummy paid your fees yet don't you want to come to daycare and generally being an unprofessional self-absorbed bitter so can't wait until she gets fired you wouldn't believe the headaches that i received when management signed a new copier print release which reduced the overall number of printers in exchange for centrally located multiplex copiers evidently people feel their social standing is signified by if they have a printer or two in their office my favorite was an executive assistant who stated that because she wears heels to work she couldn't walk to the new copier and requested that a reasonable accommodation would be to replace the printer she had in her office i t person here the amount of people that have printer envy is astounding and if they have color printing and someone else doesn't oh man suddenly i have a job function that requires it as well always seems to be the people over 45-ish that care so much we had a complaint that the toilet roll holders were too low in the stalls because when a guy was taken up his knees were hitting the holders we then lifted all the stalls toilet roll holders eight inches on whole company site so no knees would hit the toilet roll holders no complaints since hr working for the people my arms are short and the toilet paper holder is too far i keep falling off my seat hr a woman claimed that people were spreading rumors about her sleeping with co-workers the investigation wasn't even done yet when she moved in with one of the guys the others showed me texts and nude pics she had sent them and if that wasn't enough she followed me home from the bar one night to make sure i was okay i shut my door in her face and the next day said i was too drunk and didn't realize she was there had enough from everything else i didn't even need to bring that part into the conversation with her supervisor that's meredith wtf i worked in hr and my co-worker hated me she wanted someone else to get the job i did and she would complain about me to management for anything the final straw for everyone was when i sneezed and she slammed her keyboard on her desk basically ran out of the room and didn't come back for 30 minutes management called me in and said i was making too much noise i told them i sneezed and they said she would complain about me every day so they didn't believe her but had to make it look like they were doing something she left shortly after what a nut case she came in with a complaint that she tried to give one of the younger guys a hug and he refused his story was that he basically had to run away i had to explain to a middle-aged woman that it was not her right to hug people who didn't want to be hugged she still didn't get it and left thinking she was still in the right not hr but my company is too small to have one so it just falls on me used to have an ar clerk who would snack at her desk all day long we are a pretty casual laid-back company so it's not a big deal as long as she was getting her work done but then it escalated to having food constantly being delivered tacos in the morning pizza at lunch chinese in the afternoon it was bizarre and made it difficult for her to work when she's eating full meals all day i was on the fence about saying something until she brought in an instant pot she plugged it in and cooked a freaking pork roast at her desk poured in barbecue sauce she brought and ate on it all day i was dumbfounded it was so strange i pulled her aside the next day and told her how unprofessional it was she was shocked and told me i was being unfair because i never specifically said no one was allowed to bring in an instant pot she truly seemed genuinely surprised that she wasn't allowed to do that she scaled it down after that but i sometimes wonder how much further she would have gone if i never said anything at some point dread have to have been a full spit roasted pig over a bed of coals i was the complainer my buddy was dating a girl that worked in hr at my company their relationship starting was totally unrelated to me they had gone to college together he dumped her and she didn't take it well and started threatening my job since i was still friends with him by logic complained just through the main email complaints at company.com or whatever it was my complaint was assigned to guess who i ended up having to independently schedule a beating with the vp of hr because the regular reps and middle managers were protecting their rep rather than believing me i was the person complained about and two decades later i'm still salty about it i got called into the hr manager's office one day and told that i was being written up for discussing inappropriate and sexual things in the office i had never done that ever i was still a very much closeted gay boy at the time so there wasn't a chance in heck i was going to talk about my sex life to the middle age women i worked with who complained about me i asked being young and naive we can't tell you that there's confidentiality rules hr said okay i understand what was it that i supposedly said we can't tell you that either you may use that to discover who lodged the complaint so i'm being written up because an anonymous person complained that i was saying sexual things in the office but you won't tell me who complained or what i supposedly said that's right now please sign this form to indicate that you understand the severity of your infraction no i won't do that you have to it was a stalemate for almost 20 minutes while i refused to sign their form they threatened to fire me but i still refused to sign in the end she made some comment on the form about my unwillingness to participate in the process then to top it off the rest of the office wondered why i completely stopped speaking to all of them all together i refuse to engage in any of the usual non-office related talk if it was not 100 required conversation in order to do my job i flat out ignored my co-workers presence again i was called into hr and reprimanded for my abrasive demeanor i quit that job shortly thereafter not hr but a complaint raised against me hostile and unfriendly behavior i had to explain to the head of hr that the complainant had walk up behind me whilst i was relieving myself at a urinal launching into a detailed explanation of their computer problem rather than say shut the frick up reboot your pc and leave me alone i replied please log a ticket for me so yeah prompting them to follow the proper procedure never mind accosting me whilst urinating was me being hostile the complaint was promptly filed in the under desk circular receptacle then tell them i would like to file a complaint for sexual harassment in the workplace they were trying to look at my penis while urinating i'm not in hr but someone called hr on me i work with a few people that aren't that fluent in english one of my co-workers was trying to explain to me what kind of tacos he ate and could not remember the word for stingrays so he took my notebook and drew a picture of a stingrays and wrote the word turtle so it looked like this crudely drawn stingray plus the word turtle a lady i work with went through my notebook saw the picture of the stingray plus the word turtle she called hr because she thought i was writing notes about her in my notebook she said that horribly drawn stingray plus the word turtle meant that i want to punch her in the face because she is slow like a turtle definitely a reach i didn't get in trouble i was just told by my boss that i'm not allowed to talk about turtles anymore in case it upsets her i rarely talk about turtles so this isn't really a problem for me i don't know if this story fits but i'll tell it anyway i went to hr once to complain that my manager refused to give me a couple of vacation days the hr lady reminded me about the boilerplate rule that vacation time must be mutually acceptable to the employee and the company i then pulled out six more vacation requests that had all been denied including one that was denied in writing for a reason that was not permitted i asked her if the company is allowed to say that it's never acceptable my last request was undenied not in our employee but i recently reported a bus driver for bringing his girlfriend to work and rubbing her feet while driving she sat on the spot right behind the driver and put her feet where he could reach for them with one hand i took a picture of the whole thing and debated on what to do with it for a while on the one side i didn't want this guy to lose his job nor have to explain why he was rubbing his girlfriend's feet at work imagine the awkwardness on the other side he missed a turn and then took a u-turn on a downhill blind curve where we could have easily gotten nailed in the end i came to the conclusion when other people's lives are in your hands that's what your hands should focus on you did the right thing while i can empathize with him the safety of the passengers should be his main concern [Music] someone complained about another employee smelling of rotten chicken and feet the scent was bad enough that no one wanted to work with that guy around had to put on a hygiene fundamentals in the workplace presentation for that entire group since i couldn't single out smelly i think he got the hint because he also got a haircut somewhere out there is a guy explaining and that is why even my hair smelled like a kfc dumpster in tarantino's house i was the one being complained about a patient had asked if it was okay to remove her iv fluids cause she was going home she was one of those people who was very convinced that if we took her fluids out she would die she was admitted for the common cold and uses her insurance to pay like this so she didn't have to spend a dime anyway i told her that it's okay mom we're just running regular saline water through your iv no more meds you can go home today and we can take that out get a notice from hr the next day saying i wasn't using proper medical terminology for iv fluids hr didn't do crap they just tossed the complaint at me without asking questions i wonder what these turds would do if they actually had a real issue if they already go to extremes for such make-believe problems not me but my mom has worked in hr 20-plus years and one time had to deal with a woman who would smear her crap all over the bathroom walls on a different day each week she must have been a real thorough hand washer because it took longer than you'd expect to find her and she was immediately fired after 20 years in hr i have too many to remember the most recent was on monday when an employee emailed me with a request to remind everyone to be careful with scented lotions her area reeked from something that smelled like moroccan oil these kind of emails are a bomb waiting to go off everyone gets paranoid and i end up replying to 50 people that they smell fine and yes please keep wearing your deodorant i told her that i would rather address it with the individual so let me know who it was after literally sniffing our way through the cube farm we discovered the smell was coming from her own desk drawer we couldn't find the stinky culprit so she ended up throwing everything out case closed it was lunch time a client came in my colleague was eating a sausage roll and had it on his desk next day a formal complaint came through about my colleague's sausage roll and how unprofessional it was of him to have a sausage roll he was eating on his desk not hr but workers comp we just had an associate file a claim this week because they burned their mouth on their lunch a lunch they brought from home and heated up in the microwave the spineless company i used to work for would have paid the claim to not deal with it not hr but i talked to people so i know a few stories here's my favorite in terms of how ridiculous it is hr director found hooker in the women's bathroom it wasn't hidden or anything it was just there in the plain sight on the floor turns out one employee is addicted to smoking hooker and she brought it on her first day of work she then demanded to be allowed to smoke hooker in the bathroom but they came to the agreement that she can't take a break every day to go out and smoke it in the nearby hookah place if she wants to little background i work in it and ukraine it specialists here make good money and they are also spoiled as freight due to high demand so people complain about all sorts of stupid crap all the time like free lunches are served in containers they don't like or elevator needs and ac and etc i was once summoned to hr when i got there one of my employees was already sitting in the head hr lady's office with a wtf really look on his face hr lady goes into a dire tribe about how this employee is a chauvinistic pig that doesn't respect women and thinks he is better than all women on and on about just how awful this guy is employee was my alleged software devon was awesome at his job and a great guy otherwise turns out hr lady had asked him to write a spreadsheet full of formulas to calculate open enrollment dollar values for withholding based on all the available options and individual pay rates he told her that i can help but i've got this payment gateway project that's due and don't really have a ton of time can i just show you how to get started instead and that's how the argument started my response was okay employee you can leave thank you then i told her that if excel didn't open that's i t custom sheets with formulas and pay data for employees that's hr and that i could recommend some resources for learning excel that b was constantly trying to get it to do her job for her once had to tell a guy a court order means the company cannot ignore it regardless of how much he shouted at me or threatened to kill me i did genuinely look into it because it was the first i ever heard of anyone having money ordered by a court to be diverted so our payroll team sent over the court order and session dates it all took place in i asked our solicitors to look it up and see what went down since it was all a matter of public record ends up our employee never bothered going to the court to contest the order and just ignored it so armed with this knowledge i brought him in and laid it all out initially he listened and just sat and waited for me to finish then after i'm done and explain nothing further can be done nor can we amend the payments he explodes at me personally blaming me for all his problems and that he can't afford these payments finally after listening to him shout at me for 10 minutes and blaming me for his problems i dropped my professional demo and flat out told him that if he bothered to defend himself in court as much as he fruitlessly was trying to do here maybe he wouldn't be in this position at that point he threatened to kill me but shouted it loud enough that hr outside the meeting room heard it my hr manager came in and just told him to leave and was fired on grower's misconduct at which point he tried to swing a punch at my hr manager who was an amateur boxer he knocked the guy out put him in the recovery position and called 999 for an ambulance and police to attend our work it was the most eventful hr meeting i ever had we had an employee walk out in the middle of third shift leaving one person alone to do all the work he came back a week later and asked us to write it up like he'd been let go because he wanted to file unemployment obviously we wouldn't do that previous job i worked with some huge butthole across the hall i won't go into why he was in butthole but one of the things he did was turn me into hr because i had a milli catapult on my desk a desk toy that shot many marshmallows he claimed it was a weapon and hr called me to clarify when i told her what it was she sighed and said if i took it home she wouldn't make a case out of it so i took it home you should take a picture of the catapult frame it and put it on your desk had a lot of people ask for more hours i would tell them i don't have more hours in your department but i can give you hours in x department next schedule would come out and they would say i have two minute hours so i would give them like 10 fewer hours with still 15 25 hours and then it would be i don't have enough hours so then i would say okay remember that week when i gave you 30 35 hours and that was too much and they would say i want 35 hours so i would try my best and usually end up with 30 hours because ours were slim and then it would be i have two minute hours and then i would stop talking to them because i was going crazy employers and managers who had to fire their best employee what happened we hire a lot of people in recovery who are a part of the drug court program under the condition that they will be terminated if they go back to jail for drug alcohol charges this co-worker was our hardest worker and always picked up shifts and got tons of compliments so it really sucked when she relapsed and failed her p-test with drug court she got sent to jail for a week and we had to fire her i still kept in touch with her and when i found out she was pregnant i convinced my boss to hire her back one last chance i'm so happy i wasn't wrong because she is about to celebrate her fourth year of sobriety and she's now management that is awesome had a great waiter robert sucker could run circles around the entire staff he knew the kitchen as well could jump in that prep and assist if we got backed up and still tend to his tables dumbass put a three dollar bottle of white zinfandel in his backpack right in front of a security camera and while the owner was sitting at the bar eating he was a student and working part-time he had to be bringing in 300.500 in cash a week worked in a restaurant at hotel chain management regularly found meaningless reasons to suspend various employees or cut hours this one guy had been there almost 13 years clients loved him staff appreciated his presence and he often came to the rescue of anyone requiring help everyone could depend on him and he supported everyone he had like everyone in a restaurant bumped heads with management now and again like everyone on one particular season they decided they were going to groom him in the eventuality to take on more responsibility his position would eliminate his rights to tips but it came with insurance a retirement plan and steady pay he had kids was in his mid-40s it all made sense why someone would take that job he would however no longer be in the union fast forward to the day after his training is complete the guy comes in with his management uniform and all some waiter calls in sick and instead of him calling in another employee he decides he was going to handle a few tables and the management responsibilities at the end of the shift the hotel manager summons the guy into his office like the boss of his boss they fired him straight away he was escorted out of the building and our boss said there were strict rules and management working tables harmed the hotel's image it was complete bs he had maybe taken two tables and split the rest amongst the rest of the staff everyone basically agreed they promoted him just to get him out of the union to be able to fire him a number of employees left shortly after four other various reasons it was a sort of shaking up the coup and anyone who wouldn't fall in line would be shown the door today that restaurant no longer exists they closed down maybe two years later rebranded the restaurant from american steakhouse to italian french dining new cooks new waiters new management it was just sort of the catalyst to the first domino and that's how olive garden was born had a guy who would work his butt off daily in putting data into spreadsheets would come in put in solid hours of actual work not goofing off he would literally get four times as much stuff done a week as anyone else in the office after three weeks straight of this other people start to take notice and occasionally ask him to help them out when they are behind and he obliges this gets worse and worse and eventually people are basically just walking all over him while they spend all day facebooking and whatnot because he won't say no if they ask him to help with their work the dude just keeps trucking through though about four months into working there it's gotten to the point where you can hear the extra [ __ ] girls talking about leaving early and not getting in trouble because he will just do all the work for us if we ask anyway well the guy goes into the boss's office and i work right next to it so i can hear more or less the entire conversation i am paraphrasing but it went something like this i would like a raise i am doing way too much work for how much i am getting paid everyone else who works here is so dang lazy i even have people making jokes about how i will do their work for them and they will get paid for it well name i can sympathize with you but you have to understand i can't just give you a raise if i give you a raise i would have to explain to everyone why you got a raise and they didn't you could tell them it's because i am doing half of their work for them while they look at stupid memes i'm sorry name it just wouldn't work out well well then is there any positions available above mine that i could apply for a promotion to i don't think we can really look into a promotion this early into you working here we would need time to properly evaluate your work ethic seriously you seriously just said that to me i'm not going to break my back doing an entire office's work for a company that doesn't give two shoots about me you and this entire office can go frick themselves he walks out of the office fuming mad and yells hey everyone boss just denied my raise so no more leaving work early for any of you lazy frick heads cause i freaking quit it was like a scene from office space only in real life he was one of my best weekend workers dependable always on time really good at his job i got a call from my management on the 4th of july saying we are going to need to find a replacement for name i say why did he find a better job my management no he was arrested for murder last night so let's just say i didn't have the chance to fire him i was dumbfounded when i got that call my dad had a guy working for him who was great could work long hours not complaining about being on call etc well he got caught freaking a nurse in his office he got divorced and had a nervous breakdown and started threatening to kill everyone so they had to fire him and have him banned from the premises oh and after that we caught him hiding in the woods behind our house crazy guy oh and he sued us for wrongful termination really dedicated guy top manager for retail job i worked at lost her keys to the store that also had the keys to all the registers on the key ring the registers started going short or would be empty aside from the change in dollar bills in the drawer this went on for months corporate found out after installing a new set of security cameras overnight without her knowledge she enlisted a group of sales associates to do most of the dirty work but they found out she was a ringleader when they found out all the sales associates would bring her the stolen money and she would dole it out after taking her cut we had a field tech that was awesome probably the best i've ever seen or heard of he was knowledgeable skilled and personable he was always early worked great under stress when things went south and often finished jobs early if we had off our issues he was always available and it seemed like he was in his truck and ready to get going right away well it turns out that he was always in his truck and ready to go he had been living in his company truck for some time and just pulled off the side of the road each night at a utility pole climbed up stole some cable tv and set up shop for the night we found that out and had to let him go also the coke and the m sounds like the ultimate field tech 24 hours availability no problem thanks to the m and he probably creates more calls if there aren't any by stealing copper wiring obligatory not me but co-worker i had joined the company a few months prior was still getting to know the various details of my job and this guy was the star of the company i spent as much time working with him as i could honestly i mean he was the freaking star he was a solid programmer great project manager awesome account and customer management skills and he had a knack for thinking outside the box on creative solutions he loved working there had rejected offers from google facebook and pinterest that i know of and then he freaked the director's 16 year old daughter age of consent is 16 here he was 31. welp that would not tend to win you any friends in the management not me but a story from when i worked at disneyland a long time ago in attractions writes the area manager loved this one particular cast member employee like this was the son he never had this cm was promoted to lead on one of the roller coasters fairly quickly in his regime one night he was the lead on the closing crew and the crew decided to ride after hours idiots that they are they went without the lap bars down and on one turn the ride is visible from the walkway even though the park was closed to guests security was still in the park and a security guard saw the train go by with the cms standing up through the turn security gets a hold of theme park one the manager in charge of the park for the night who calls attractions one to find out what's going on not surprisingly every cm who was on the closing crew that night was fired unfortunately so was the predictable son because he was the one who dispatched the train without the lab bars down i didn't have to do the firing but for whatever reason my colleague had it and for this mid-level supervisor she was a great trainer did everything she was asked took initiative and then some she was always worth well more than what she earned and had an absolute passion for the work we worked with kids with autism after a few months of having some vendetta against her my colleague wrote her up literally for being away from her desk too often her uncle had recently been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and she was the only relative in town who could care for him so the time she was away from her desk she was stepping out to cry when she felt overwhelmed and didn't want people to see her cry i found out after she was let go for this that she had informed the supervisors of this when her uncle was diagnosed and that she was feeling very emotional about it and may need to take days off take more frequent breaks to gather herself again and remain productive instead of showing compassion my colleague used this as an opportunity to terminate her despite having no other red flags feedback or performance issues there was simply a personality difference and she didn't gossip with the other supervisors and this was all done with our other colleagues and supervisors blessings i don't work for this company after i found out about this obligatory happened to a co-worker working at a bank my branch had the biggest superstar in the state always crushing sales numbers he generated more revenue than the rest of the branch combined he set up a really big business account presentation but his mother died literally on the day he was supposed to give the talk branch manager stepped in held the presentation the guy had built everything up it was essentially a done deal branch manager just had to get a signature on the paperwork obviously feeling bad for him thinking he deserved the credit they booked the deal under his name the next day technically to get credit for a deal you have to be there at signing both were fired within a week for sales manipulation or full use of the rules i wasn't the manager but we had a supervisor who was a rising star in the company turned a struggling operation into one that was running well under budget and was generally easy to work with but we also had a mechanic who was a lazy sack of crap and nobody could ever find him so one day the operations manager was looking at the security footage trying to figure out what the mechanic was doing so day and caught him selling pills out of his truck in the parking lot so he called the police when the police showed up the mechanic was in his truck in the middle of selling drugs to the supervisor but they were both fired the operation went from under budget to being 50 000 100 000 over for the next few months corporate set a trap and baited him into stealing he was a great guy fun and interesting easy to get along with he would volunteer to take the early shifts and open the store he'd receive the new inventory and stock the shelves himself his cash was always correct and he never did anything wrong until he did one morning he opened the new stock shipment and loaded the shelves there was an extra item in the box that wasn't listed on the manifest the correct procedure was to add it to inventory and put it on the shelf he instead opted to claim it wasn't there and took it home the perfect crime right i had to fire him the next day and it sucked to be fair integrity is what you do when no one is looking part of my job is to process expense reports from the sales department i noticed one month that the top salesman had claimed a plane ticket expense twice once when he booked it and then again when he took the flight months later i reviewed his past expenses and noticed he was doing this regularly when he booked the flight originally he would claim the full amount of the ticket then when he used the flight he would claim each leg of the trip as a separate daily expense so that the receipt amounts wouldn't match so as to avoid detection this is how i figured out he was doing it intentionally i showed the evidence to the cfo and he was gone the next week i only went back three years but he stole about ten thousand dollars over those three years you'll think people who made a certain amount of money wouldn't risk it by stealing but then you'd be wrong not me but i was working in retail and one of the customer service guys was being groomed for management he'd been there for a while was trusted to count money and with the safe combination opened if managers couldn't act he was a cool black guy his race is important to the story but a bit cocky and arrogant my cousin also worked there who was also cocky and arrogant anyway my cousin put in his two weeks but wasn't being a bad employee my cousin didn't like the soon to be manager because they were pretty similar in a lot ways and they clashed because of it on my cousin's last week unprovoked he approaches the guy and says you look like a big black dong the guy walks up to my cousin puts his finger to his head and says do you have a problem with me it ended there with my cousin walking away then reporting he was threatened because a finger made contact the guy was fired my cousin was a dong and didn't regret it and laughed about it with my other friends who were also dongs best buy manager had a guy in geek squad who was a great sales person probably top 10 in the district he had an incident during a data transfer where he accidentally transferred another client's information to the external drive the customer flipped out and unfortunately due to company policy we had to let him go unfortunately he knew it was going to happen but it was just a matter of time i work at a store where we have to ask for donations for the charity we support at every transaction we are in competition with the other stores in the chain and whichever store has the highest percentage of donations after three months get a bonus every employee cashier or not gets 100 well one of my assistant managers was awesome always had the highest percent of donations per transactions and highest dollar amount she always did a great job in all other aspects of the job as well well it turns out she was offering every customer her employee discount if they donated so if someone spent dollar sign 500 and she gave them 30 off they wouldn't at all mind donating 10 to 20 per transaction well it came back from corporate what she was doing and we had to let her go we had a new girl get 100 for two weeks in a row on her charity donations it turns out she'd been charging everyone for at least a one dollar donation regardless of whether or not they'd approved we had to actually refund donations to those angry customers that really didn't want to donate i used to work for dell back in 1998 to 2000 in their sales department this is jewel lewis right before people ordered online so it was still a call center to make a really long story short i was one of their best sales reps top three every month i was making about five thousand dollars a week as a 23 year old they decided to replace me and most of my team with temps making eleven dollars an hour and no commissions only i didn't know this i was given a great opportunity to train a new class of incoming sales people little did i know i was training our replacements once they hit the floor and were running they fired me and about 200 other sales people frick dell oh then a few years later even the temps got fired so they could move all those jobs to a call center in india frick dell he was our fastest forklift operator guy could get a truck loaded in seven fifteen minutes but he started developing a crappy attitude and we just couldn't work with him the new operators we have take 30 45 minutes to get a truck loaded and they're legitimately a little dumb and have a hard time reading i don't know if it was worth it probably developed an attitude because he was tired of getting paid the same as those who'd take twice as long as him i managed a cough shop bakery my best employee was this kid named alexis he was sharp and was quick to pick up on all the skills required to work in our fast-paced environment but he was also someone who would stay out really late at night partying and it would affect his attendance one night in particular he calls me up and tells me he's stuck in baltimore we live in dc and won't be able to make it and for his shift the following morning he called me at 7 pm the last mark commuter train leaves at 9 30 or so and there's a free circulator that runs throughout the city i used to visit baltimore pretty regularly at the time because there was a girl i was seeing from up there anyways i only had one day off a week and was working 14 hours days it was the last straw in a series of no-call no-show situations where he had left me hanging for our busiest days i called his phone that same night and told him that if he didn't show up for his [ __ ] on time the following morning he was fired he didn't show up and i never saw him again this was a few years ago but i sometimes wonder what happened to him he was a really sharp kid but he did way too many drugs and wasn't as clever as he thought he was so would often get into trouble with police managers of reddit what made you fire an employee on their first day not a manager but was training a new guy on a plastic bag cutting machine the kind of bags used for products like fiberglass peat moss or salt these machines sometimes have plastic buildup around the sealers and when this happens the machine needs to be stopped and cleaned usually this only takes a minute power off engage kill switch remove excess plastic change teflon strip if necessary disengage kill switch then power back on this was explained multiple times twice on the first night he disengaged the kill switch and started the machine while i was working on it could have had my fingers crushed or had it clamp on the tools i was using and send shattered pieces everywhere lucky for me the machine starts to vibrate a second before it actually starts and i was able to pull away quickly enough both times i stopped the machine grabbed my manager and my union rep explained what happened and he was gone in five minutes frick him we had an intern one semester he was handed a large bundle of zip-tied cables and asked to cut them apart and separate them he literally cut the entire bundle in half rather than cut the zip ties to separate them lost two thousand dollars worth of cables fired that day the techie in me just had an aneurysm undisclosed charge for beating up his old manager giving her a broken nose and fractured eye socket for not approving a holiday request we were a little late with his background check but he done really well on the interview and completed training without an issue first full day on the job he comes in and i give him the tour and introduce him to his team and i instantly get the feeling that he's being shifty turns out not 20 minutes before his first shift he got out of his car at a traffic light and screamed at another driver who didn't go through an amber light imagine his surprise to see it was our reception desk security guard apparently he was really aggressive and threatened to slash his tires if he saw that car again two hours later and about 10 minutes after i found out about that morning his background checks come back i had an employee call off on her first scheduled day on her second scheduled day she showed up two hours late this was a sub shop we weren't open yet but we had been and doing prep baking bread and building our sub trees for catering orders we told her that this wasn't going to work out and she got pee she started yelling that we were all xenophobic buttholes and as she stormed out the door she knocked over stacks of sub trays we lost 15 trays to her tantrum my boss went running out the door after her and the girl's boyfriend got out of the car and reached behind his back swearing and telling my female boss that if she keeps stepping to them that he would stop her good we are pretty sure that he had a gun my boss checked the license plate and came back in we had all of this girl's information address phone social security etc from the paperwork so with that and the security footage of her destroying the trays we were able to press charges for the damage i'm not the manager in the story but i was there for part of it dude gets hired starts training during training gm instructs him to take out the trash he refuses gets into an argument apparently he didn't know that he was arguing with the gm despite the big fancy name tag with general manager printed in block letters on it gets sent home for some reason he still comes in the next day smelling of alcohol he grabs food this is a restaurant without paying right in front of everyone including a manager he then proceeds to start coming at a server because they couldn't tell him where the takeout silverware was not the server's job this evolves into a literal fight and the police get called we never saw him again after that this was all before his first actual day of work i'm a bar and restaurant manger one day the new kitchen porter walked through the front entrance carrying a huge bag of cheese over his shoulder which the head chef had told him to pick up he walked through the restaurant and right in front of customers launched it through the hatch in the kitchen flying through the air as everyone just watched open mouth the huge bag of cheese landed hard in the deep fat fryer the chef working near it got scalded in hot oil and had to go to a amd he's the only person i've sacked on their first day i'm mostly pretty chill but he was just a walking health and safety nightmare even after everything that happened he still couldn't accept responsibility or apologize to the chef he hurt he's the only person i've let go without a hint of remorse or sadness the safety of your team always comes first chief officer of a merchant vessel here technically second in command of the ship after the captain a seaman joined our ship while our vessel was birthed in mobile alabama he was carrying a plastic water bottle during familiarization rounds on deck with the third officer and when it was empty proceeded to throw the bottle overboard my russian captain saw this calmly asked me to call the seaman to his office gave back all his documents asked the agent to book him a flight back to where he came from all of this happened in a span of three hours that was very very nice of the captain both giving him a flight back and allowing him to disembark via the gangway he couldn't tie an apron on he couldn't count change asked him to unpack boxes and found him sitting on the floor just staring at them it wasn't so much firing as a mutual this isn't going to work after four hours i need to know why he was staring at the boxes to stand out he was laughing at the ice bin admitted he was tripping balls we laughed i said you can't work here like that we laughed he said yeah i know so that was fun she stuffed all the fives from a fresh register meaning i knew exactly how many fives were supposed to be there in her bra assuming everyone who was totally watching wasn't paying attention nobody was gonna shake her down and the police were busy she made 75 for roughly 30 minutes of training i think she kind of fired herself she didn't show up at all in an actual work capacity her first non-training shift was opening on a saturday this place opened at 5 30 a.m so me excited to sleep in because i opened mf which was waking up at 3am to make it got woken up at 5 30 on the dot because obviously clients called immediately whatever maybe something happened it sucked for me and the people trying to get in early morning workouts but i made it there and had it covered the problem was when i tried to talk to her about it she didn't even let me get started she immediately started yelling at me that i didn't give her enough space for her personal issues or something like that and then she emailed the vp of the company about how awful i was i wouldn't have fired her for that i tried to talk to her about it to find out why it happened but i had no chance at all she just went all out scorched earth all she got was being fired from a person above me she started a fight with another employee the other employee the fiance of her baby daddy this man literally got a job for his girlfriend and his side chick for the same position same location and same schedule i don't what became of that situation but i had to break them up and then call the police when the side chick tried to run the fiance down in the parking lot and wreck three cars in the process and then give a police report for that whole dang thing i'm so glad i don't work security anymore i want those training month long and the guy had his first day on the floor he was supposed to be setting up his computer how he liked it i walked by because he looked like he was struggling i helped him out and walked him through one of the programs and let him know it was okay to flag me down if he needed help i proceeded to help out three others then circle back to him no progress made this was 20 minutes later i walk him through some other setup this is all from written instruction from a manual i go and help a few more people come back to see yet again no progress i ask him what kind of issue he is having with the instructions come to find out he can't read english all of our instructions and guides are only in writing in english it's a requirement on the job interview i guess someone walked him through that too i wanna know how he passed a month's training not being able to read english not a manager but saw this happen a couple of weeks ago the local pizza place is frequent visit for my friends and i they know our names and usual orders a nice small town joint new girl started working there as a cashier went up to the counter to get a few pies we had ordered an hour earlier we were told 30 minutes turns out she had taken the order down over the phone and just didn't tell the cooks owner who is nearby says sorry about that palapata come back in 20 no big deal came back in 20 minute and the new girl is doing dishes by hand the pizzas are under a warmer with her dirty soapy hands and no tray she grabs my pizzas and throws them into a box in front of the owner little subs and dishwater on the food they fired her that instant showed up 45 minutes late and said he lost his uniform then he revealed he planned on wearing his worn out south park t-shirt and shorts going on down to the unemployment office our company photographed vehicles for dealerships so they could be posted online we had pretty much one requirement you had to be able to drive a manual the company would train a person on everything else a new highlight on their application about being able to drive a manual they thought they could learn on the job it took the manager training him about 30 seconds to realize how much of liability he was going to be as soon as he tried to move a manual car we let him go on the spot i did tell him that if he went and fully learned and came back and proved it to me he could have his job back he texted two days later letting me know he just couldn't get the hang of it kitchen manager here had a grill cook working his first day i walk around the corner to see that he had passed out in the broiler grill while assembling it woke him up from his nap to tell him he could leave for the day turns out this dude liked h i witnessed someone get rejects before the interview even started i was in the waiting area of a car dealership service center waiting for my car the waiting area was right next to all the offices for the mangers sales guys etc so there's a young guy early twenties comes in wearing dirty sneakers car keys and an untucked butting up shirt checks in with the receptionist that he's here for an interview manager comes out greets him and says your xxx right kid confirms manager then confirms that he told the kid when he applied that he had to dress professional not sneakers tie required shirt tucked etc kids like yeah i remembered but figured it didn't really matter for just the interview manager basically said yeah if you can't follow basic direct instructions for an interview this isn't going to work out and told him to go home this all happened in the waiting area manager didn't even bring him into the office kid was like are you serious then had to stand there awkwardly waiting for his ride to some back and pick him up i remember working in a call center and something similar happened saw someone i used to go to school with coming for an interview in a track suit the manager interviewing them had the whole thing over and done within about two minutes as he was leading them out of the door he just casually said word of advice buy a suit and close the door on them work and wireless hire this guy who had a good resume and sales experience leave work get a call from corporate saying one of our devices is out of its allowed region track it down this guy borrowed a phone because we didn't let him off early enough to pay his bill i was a school administrator for a k-12 school had a new substitute teacher for a middle school class she was an older lady very old school elegant i'm in the hall and suddenly a class full of sixth graders are running out of the classroom i go busting in there expecting a brawl or a gun or something instead the substitute is standing at the front of the room in a pool of poo she apologized and said her stomach was bothering her she walked out of the room and down the hall leaving puddles of poo behind her i call the custodian and we start with the kitty litter thinking my day could only get better i was shocked when a couple of hours later a student came running down the hall to get me i follow them to a classroom and there is the sub again standing in her own poo again the admin assistant had told her earlier that of course she could come back after she got cleaned up i gently asked her to leave and told her we wouldn't be needing her again so the custodian and i cleaned everything up again when i got home my wife asked me how my day was and didn't understand when i lost it after telling her it had been a crappy day that's horrific but at some point you need to settle for the indignity of an adult diaper over the shame of soiling yourself in public what was she even thinking my partner and i were training a security guard for one of the huge sites that we had everyone gets a work phone during the shift to use a liver track system and report every so often after it gets dark me and my partner lose track of this guy on this we tried calling him but he wouldn't answer after about three hours we found him on the property's playground swings arguing with his girlfriend or ex on the work phone apparently he didn't have a phone of his own so he took this chance to socialize on training day he couldn't believe that he was getting fired we hired an external supervisor on orientation day he was an hour late from lunch he checked in said sorry i'm late then proceeds to inform me he was going to the restroom he had a 72 minute poop we decided he was a poor fit for our corporate culture he had a 72-minute poop i know the thing is to poop at work cause the boss makes a dollar while you make a dime but the idea isn't to stay in there until you have made as many dollars as the boss earns during his normal length poo not a manager but on this woman's first day she was clearly very stressed and not getting the responsibilities she went to lunch and never came back my boss called her and fired her but it was clear she ghosted without even quitting at a different job this guy came to work on his third day in jeans and a hoodie we were business casual but not that casual an hour and he said he forgot something in his car and never came back same deal fired for job abandonment she arrived 2.5 hours late i had to wake her up because she forgot to set her alarm she arrived high to work to top it off she was gender-based and harassed a co-worker by asking her for a naked photo she was out of a job by the end of the day a fresh graduate who reported directly to me said to me in the most condescending tone ever it's important to understand stereotypes for example spanish people are very lazy so they are never going to work as hard and we have to understand it and treat them that way note i his boss am spanish i have been a fast food manager a long time so i have hired and fired a ton of people guy within 90 minutes of starting just started eating food off the cook's line i walked around the corner he just looks at me and takes a bite out of a chicken strip i am not a big yeller but i straight up ejected that dude like a baseball umpire that's it you're out of here and this is why i could never have that job i wasn't a manager but a supervisor at the time dude's second day on the job he called in running late from his bartending job shows up at the job grocery store third shift so amazingly drunk that he could barely stand he was upstairs in the bathroom shirtless and covered in puke i called a co-worker in to help me convince him to get a ride home he refused to get a ride he kept saying how he's got a kid for about 30 minutes i finally told him if he doesn't get a ride home immediately with my co-worker then i'm calling the cops my co-worker apparently held him back from fighting me in the parking lot the guy still holds a grudge against me oh yeah not only was he going to drive home but on a moped frick that guy semi nsw not first day but first day without a trainer accompanying them he managed to crash a patrol car that alone wouldn't necessarily have gotten them fired the fact that it was into a school bus might not have done it if there were extenuating circumstances since damage really was minor and no injuries sustained by anyone on the bus the fact his girlfriend was in the squad care might not have done it if he had bothered to get permission however since there was no permission we moved from might not to probably so the fact that both the interior and exterior dash cam managed to accidentally get turned off almost impossible to do by accident but his body cam managed to most likely accidentally getting turned on though guaranteed it the only footage taken from that cam that night was over the top of his girlfriend's head rapidly and repeatedly entering and exiting the camera's field of vision so close that you could see details that usually you'd never be able to see on a person's scalp right up until impact caused the lens to shatter against her hair tie the pictures some of the kids on the bus managed to get with just the icing on the cake at that point needless to say at that point i called my boss and got permission from my boss to end both a shift and a career that night became kind of an unofficial training point after that no celebratory bravo juliet in the squad car why in the ever-loving flick would anyone ever think that was a good idea how about a little switch up i fired a guy on my first day i got a job as a shipping and receiving manager for a small warehouse i had three people working for me i was told in the morning to keep an eye on one of them because they like to drink on the job sure enough this guy ranked of beer after lunch and was drunk off his butt the branch manager told me i had to fire him so i did he did not take it well it was one of the most awkward moments of my life seems kinda messed up the branch manager didn't do it considering they had worked together for five plus years and i only knew the poor guy for a few hours i suspect you were hired at least in part specifically so branch manager didn't have to fire his friend himself not a manager but an employee i caught my manager masturbating in the office and he immediately fired me and personally shooed me off the office grounds gutted since it was quite a high-paying job and let's just say i cannot recover from that incident for those asking why i didn't report it for unlawful termination basically i was gullible last time not knowing how to counter this situation so i was like frickit but i don't regret it at least i have a better job now what a w holy crap this is my backup account which i hardly use and that gets a gold after three years of trying customary thank you kind stanger my uncle lost a job five minutes in he drove up and parked outside went in to do induction and paperwork turns out he parked on a hill and forgot to put the handbrake on in his car it rolled into the boss nice shiny five-day-old rolls-royce he was asked to leave pretty fast after that i should mention it was a driving based job so showing that he could actually drive and park sensibly was kinda important not a manager but an employee who saw it all and was slightly involved i had a front of house job a few months ago for a brand new performance arts center and since it was a brand new establishment they did training in a boardroom with 30 plus employees one dude was just not cooperating he kept falling asleep moving around and he argued about the gender-based harassment regulations the manager said there should not be anything rescape hosted inside your lockers because it's a common locker room and you gotta be respectful he got upset and started a whole tirade about how it's his locker and no one should get a say on what he puts on or in it he noticed halfway through training that he was probably on thin ice and tried to save his hide he also noticed that i would fidget constantly stand up to use the restroom or do little hand aerobics with my pen or stare into space for minutes on end i have a dd and had already told the trainers when i noticed we'd be sitting for eight hours so they turned a blind eye to my fidgeting when they confronted him about his behavior he dragged me into the issue by saying that if he was to be reprimanded then i should be two for being a distraction to my training he was fired before his first day of work read it i'm not joking i need to get fired in one day guaranteed i am hooked to an employment contract with my current job that says that if i voluntarily leave the job within my first 12 months of working there i must pay them dollar sign xxxxx big money for the fees and expenses that they've incurred related to hiring me similarly it states that if i take them to court they have the right to collect all court fees from me and now i've received a much much better job offer that i can't refuse so now it seems that the only way out without paying is to involuntarily quit my job you must help me get fired i'm not even joking i need a solid surefire way to get fired on one day's notice guaranteed now before you start spouting epic ideas you need to know that this place does not fire anyone ever it is littered with incompetence and the dunning-kruger effect they've fired maybe one two people and it took months of their gross incompetence for it to happen it will take a very special effort to get fired and the only catch i want to keep my dignity and hopefully not damage my professional reputation too badly i.e i'm not going to show up to work naked related facts i work in i.t i do not want to destroy anything in any way which i could be found liable thanks in advance dance naked on the front desk in front of clients it's the only way i've ever worked out to get fired while still performing in your job there's no possible way that getting fired for incompetence negligence insubordination etc does not trigger the payback clause unless that is the dumbest company in the world if it is just hire a monkey to go pretend to be you while you take the fat job they'll work for bananas i know of a few people who have been in the exact same situation you're in this may sound odd but honestly your best bet would be to ask your direct report to fire you this has worked for multiple people i know people are more understanding that you would imagine and if you go to your supervisor or manager and explain your situation he she might surprise you with understanding also it wouldn't hurt to do something nice for him or in the wake of this favor for example offer to help train your replacements for free from your new job perhaps give your cell and personal email so they can contact you with some help if i were your manager and you came to me reasonably and like an adult and said that you need this for your own personal growth and you'd like to make the transition of you leaving as easy on me in the company as possible i would have absolutely no problem helping you out you make me sick that is so freaking mature if as you say this place does not readily fire someone then it will take epic effort to get fired in one day guaranteed however if it takes epic effort then chances are it will affect your future employment potential this will take a delicate balancing act and lots of luck i can offer you nothing don't worry about future employment this is a write-off years back i worked with a guy at a consulting company the same type of place very difficult to get fired well he just stopped showing up he would answer his phone and schedule meetings except other meetings and just not show he collected a paycheck for eight months before he was fired and the entire time he was working for a competitor collecting two paychecks it was a pretty badass way to do it you will lose your dignity with this one one turn up to work dressed as a women seriously two everyone will stare and make fun three make a complaint that the workplace doesn't accept your sexual gender preferences 4. capture defamatory emails use as evidence 4. blackmail hr that you will see you unless an agreement for you to leave is met i was hesitant in posting this suggestion but after reading the other suggestions this one isn't so stupid they have a dignity corset that can tighten that right up if your company has a battery of lawyers which i am sure they do there is bound to be some stipulation in tiny print somewhere that you signed that will prevent you from using this loophole be careful just call out sick every day until they fire you bill whatever you do tell them you plan on coming back as soon as you're better yay i say this is the best option step one take other job step two just stop showing up at your old job step three collect two paychecks for as long as you can step four profit start on a subject you know your boss will disagree on when the boss postures is her point scream you're an overpaid idiot be loud and dramatic when you scream the only way to get fired in a day is for cause that taints your future career you can get fired but if you're in the kind of place you are they are not going to do that for just being in butthole they're going to think you fit in if it's just that to get fired you're going to need to go way beyond what you would do over a course of weeks months to establish incompetence to get fired in a day pee off the right person someone in hr but you've got to absolutely explode in their face preferably in the presence of customers other than assault breaking stuff an employee of smoking weed at work management decided to call the entire department in for drug tests manager got fired for cannabis in his bloodstream it's not crazy or backstabbing but when i worked for fedex i had to go to the hr department with my trainer because he reported me for being too sarcastic and drinks too much water yeah one of my female i am also female bosses complained that i drank too much water and peed too often she was a bee co-worker named andy once ratted me out to our boss because her name in my contacts was annoying andy do not answer how did she know she went when we became friends for the woman who complained her cousin got her the job he's essentially one of her direct supervisors i was doing an exit interview with a female marketing person as the interview came to an end she stood up and said oh and by the way john mcdougall face has been sexually harassing me for weeks i thought i would mention that i stopped her before she could walk out of my office because even though she said it so nonchalantly as she was walking out of the exit interview the other guy still worked there i and the company would have to take it seriously and investigate while i was pulling more details out of her she said that he was sending her texts on her company phone when i asked if she had turned the phone in yet she told me it was in her purse i asked her to hand over the phone and she initially refused after i reminded her it was company property she relented this is where things got really shady i looked through the first 100 texts between them and it was definitely inappropriate material on both sides i had to contact our cell service company and get a full dump of the messages what we ended up printing out was a 300 plus page transcript of messages between the two of them mcdouchey face was way the frick out of line for sure but we ended up piecing together the whole story just from the text messages mick doubt your face and shady girl started dating not long after she started they exchanged loads of dirty text messages and loads of racist remarks about other employees between the two of them over the course of a few months he dumped her and then proceeded to try and keep her friends with benefits relationship with her by constantly asking her to just come over and flick when he couldn't find any better prospects they went back and forth for several weeks until she found another job and she that was when she backed away from him now he definitely got what was coming to him but she admitted to us that she only waited to tell us when she was on the way out the door was because she knew we would find out the stuff she was saying doing as well which would have meant she would have been fired for being making racist comments about other employees i honestly can't say whether she would have been fired or reprimanded had she told us sooner due to how awful his side looked but i was glad her leaving meant we could get rid of to awful people ro that's a whole lot of bad decisions some equipment went missing from our storage cabinet it wasn't too expensive or irreplaceable but still it had to be nowhere a wild douche appears and goes to my boss and accuses me of stealing the equipment which of course i didn't do it happened to be someone that i had hired as a favor to a friend that referred disabilities i had two female employees who hated each other and for the sake of confusion i'll call them kim and lucy now kim was well liked by staff and participants while lucy had a tendency to become hostile if she were asked to do anything by others these two would often clash but never anything that requires my intervention one day i am the only administrator in the office and lucy comes wanted me to check the cameras that we had monitoring the med room as i am going through the footage i find that kim was right and lucy actually went in every day with the non-verbal participant pop the med would drop it down the sink and then give the man a cup of water lucy is lying dead to rights call lucy ain't prepared to fire her and of course she denies it until i show her the camera footage i then ask why she did it and she told me it was because kim never offered to bring her in coffee in the morning this lady could have killed a man because a co-worker didn't ask her if she the years where they break up and argue and then they're suddenly going to lunch together again i've had to speak with them before about professional conduct in the workplace due to this most recently she finds out that he's sleeping with someone else she storms into my office slams the door and just starts laying out all the crap he's been up to over the years he's still in a gang he's using drugs he's abusive and all this i had to explain to her that while i was sympathetic to what was going on i couldn't do anything based off of her accusations especially since she was so angry i'm going to two invaluable fricks about what she was wearing at least she was there i got hauled into hr because we were incredibly busy end of the tax year and at the same time we dropped a load of new mortgage rates so we were dealing with people wanting to discuss their investments and a ton of mortgage appointments one manager was really kicking off about losing customers as we weren't working quick enough for the record we have always been told to take our time and make sure the customer is neither misolder product and is confident in our information that comes from the top anyway he pulled us into a beating room to shout at us me being an eternal gobshite responded by saying well this just wasted 10 minutes of our time and customer appointment time and if it's so bad why don't you take they are attractive he gave them both personal phones and was sending them dong pics and lewd messages over a weekend on the monday they went to hr and he was marched out that very same day lucky they forcing me to work off the clock i'm fortunate that my manager doesn't do that crap so i had to go in and talk to hr and defend my boss and strangely myself she doesn't know i know what she did and tad blind or maybe senile i had one employee double check all her recent work and it turned out to be a mix of both but we decided to get her family involved heart that would have to have been an odd conversation my mom worked as a receptionist at an office when she was younger someone ordered a pizza who was a good friend of my mom's so when the pizza came she took a pepperoni off and a different person who was in no way affiliated saw this and reported her to hr my mom got some bs warning even though the pizza's owner didn't care and said he was going to offer her a slice anyway given that they were close friends i was a lifeguard one summer and a bunch of the other lifeguards myself included would bring in food for everyone one guy brought in a 12-pack of squirt i helped myself to one i got chewed out for stealing and had to buy the gaia can of soda so i packed up my turpops and other stuff took it home and changed my availability so i could only work once a week or something bull crap i was reported by my mentor for drawing a small smiley face in my notebook on the first page of course there is nothing wrong with this so i kept doing it after several more complaints my boss was forced to escalate the issue and give me counseling in the end my mentor just looked stupid as frick she also made less than me i understood why after that somewhere out there there exists a document saying i was reprimanded for doodling i would request a copy of it and frame it honestly that's gold had an employee come to me saying he was very uncomfortable because one of the female i question the other male employees in the department and find out she has been doing it to all of them only one of them actually looked at her nudes on purpose he is in his 50s married and has twin daughters he told me he liked it so he didn't think she should get in trouble i tell the main boss this is sexual harassment and she should be fired if a man showed dong pics to female employees he would be out immediately instead he gives her a verbal warning and she worked for a few more months until her husband made her quit for informational purposes this girl is 18 and married to a very jealous 40 year old she has one child with him and he has three total dang that husband is in for a world of trouble not an hour manager but when i worked at a movie theater one of the concession workers told on another one for stealing candy every night mostly twizzlers the one stealing twizzlers proceeded to inform everyone else that the tattletail regularly blew one of the managers for better shifts guess who got fired this isn't as obvious as you thought you need to say who it was that got fired this happened to me i had a co-worker who was overall hated for being an ark telling people what to do just generally being insufferable but also started to really slack on their job things like showing up late not doing basic duties myself and this other woman were really working our asses off for a couple of weeks on some deadlines found out she went to our boss and told her that myself and the other co-worker where slacking even accused us of literally sleeping on the job i was flawed because at that point i had kept all my feedback to myself even covered up for her just to not cause trouble after that i gave up and stopped covering for her she was promptly let go about six weeks later when it become abundantly clear that she was slacking still shocked because if she had kept her mouth shut she probably would have stayed because overall she had a sweet deal because myself and many others just minded our own business i'm not in hr but i do know something that fits i used to volunteer at a hospital and there was this one employee for transportation that was always late 10-20 minutes all the time she even had some people key in for her which was a huge no-no and of course both employees are suspended or fired depending on the mood she was always getting chewed by her but they never caught her for the swiping thing so she always had to stay longer to make up for time she wasn't on the clock she started dating one of the maintenance guys he was nice everyone loved him she was a b but had a nine stroke 10 body and maintenance has to be on time suddenly she was always there 15 minutes before shift started she even started chewing other people out even the volunteers to which i pointed out i could pee in a potted plant and they'd beg for the free employee to come back so when i get here to give them free money don't matter she got crazy high and mighty started saying if i can do it so can you one day i go in and half of the staff in my area are gone transport is down to four people from nine bulk store is at eight from twenty kitchen is at fifteen from 24 and so on turns out six months ago she got the security to upgrade to time swipe thing to one that logs data used her boyfriend's keys to access the data once she found out hr couldn't give it crap and compiled three months of people keying in for others even just once you swipe your card you can pin anyone in out if you know their id and passcode the old one didn't register who swiped the card she gave that to hr and subsequently got fired but since her email went out to almost all management they had to suspend and fire over 130 employees across multiple departments so for a whole week they were short staffed about 80 people came back as they were only suspended now instead of at too brute people they call you janice jokingly if you betrayed them jokingly as in stealing a pen holy crap small amounts of power make some people go nuts i have a girl i work with that every time the schedule is put out if she thinks in her crazy bus way that i got any kind of preference like sunday off even though she knows i hate sundays off she comes and glued and sends me nasty texts and deletes me from facebook like i care but will then get nasty again if i don't add her back right away when he wants me to she is friends with our assistant chief so whenever she isn't getting her way with the supervisor she runs straight to him to get her way i love my job and the benefits are way too good to quit but i'm just ready to beat her with a baseball bat i was looking through some old hr files once and found a complaint about someone being accused witchcraft wasn't expecting that one that's awesome lol i was accused of witchcraft by a pentecostal christian that lived in my college dorm he told the whole director that my satanic activities were going to bring the wrath of god there were rules i had to follow otherwise i'd be taking work away from employees one of those rules was to not touch packages a rule that i would have loved to have followed but impossible for me to do so seeing as my job was very hands-on sometime people loading trucks would fall behind and need help catching up before the trucks left sometimes i could find some employees to delegate to my area but most of the time everyone is busy during the morning rush which leaves me as the only option this would happen almost daily i was lucky to have workers who understood the situation and tight schedule i was in however when truck drivers started arriving there was always this one dude who'd file grievances against me he never confront me he never helped the loaders he would just wait for his shift to start and if he saw me handing off a package to one of my workers it was just a bonus to him super petty glad i'm not in that stressful back stabbing heck hole now miss my work as though they were cool people i once had a stupid bee of a nurse on the night shift at one of my group homes she was rude she liked to throw her authority around the direct care staff do petty crap to undermine the program call out in excess of policy and gave new staff a lecture on how the rules of the program don't matter and on her shift her rules applied we had new staff transfer out multiple complaints verbally but nobody was willing to put anything in writing which left my hands tied one day finally someone puts a complaint in writing about how she was screaming at staff in front of the residence and litany of other complaints in line with what we knew she was doing but could not prove later on that day an anonymous abuse report was filed with the dppc against the complaintant alleging they hit a resident two weeks prior all parties involved knew the claim was highly dubious why wait two weeks to report abuse the notes from that date don't indicate anything about circumstances of the claim client having behavior issue irritated staff leading to abuse yet client is noted as having great day behavior wise a staff had just that day been reprimanded and the claim is anonymous but of course an investigation is required by law the staff was temporarily reassigned to another program for over a month as far as i know that fatsy still works there had an employee i will refer to as shitsenak mostly because i like to believe that he is capable of literally eating crap he had a long list of stuff that eventually got him fired his biggest problem was that the instant he got in trouble he would list a million things co-workers did wrong in his head if someone else was getting away with something he should not be punished either even if oh it wasn't even related the employee didn't do what [ __ ] snack said or the other employee had gotten in trouble for it i remember when he got fired we had a new manager [ __ ] snack tried to accuse me of being soft on an ex-employee because we were friends he was an ex-employee because i fired him he then said he was going to sue us for discrimination my manager said that he was free to do so but by looking at
