so you want to stick text to your hat  maybe or your finger well i'll show   you the fastest way to stick text to  a moving object in DaVinci Resolve 18.   now there are many different ways to do this  in DaVinci Resolve 18. i've already showed you   a long time ago how to track an object and  then stick text or an image to that object   but i got quite a few comments on that video  of people having problems getting it to work   and i admit it was a bit difficult so today  i'm going to show you what is as far as i know   the easiest and fastest way to do it let's  do it so this is my video clip and first you   need to decide where you want the text to  appear if you want the text to appear here   until here for example then it's best to make  cuts it's going to be easier to make it work and   make sure that the playhead is on the clip and  then select the clip and go to the fusion page   in the fusion page select the media in node that's  the source video clip the one you've selected the   media out node is what the end result will look  like so select media in then hit shift spacebar   and start typing tracker there it is the tracker  that's what we need select it and hit add and it   will appear in between the media in and out node  if it's not connected then you can just connect it   manually then move the tracker box over the object  you want to track in this case the logo on my hat   and the more contrast there is the better it  will work here it's literally black and white   so that's perfect now if there's not a lot of  contrast between the object you want to track   and the background the tracker might have trouble  tracking the object properly the small box is what   the tracker will track so in this case the logo  and the larger box around it is where it will look   for the logo so if your object or your footage  is super shaky you might want to expand this box   for my example here it doesn't have to be too big  okay and then the tracker settings well just leave   it if there's enough contrast it should work just  like that then hit track forward from current time   done then put the head that's that thin red  line here back to where it was at and then   track reverse from current time and i have  to track two times here forward and reverse   but that's because my play head was somewhere in  the middle of the clip okay now you can see what   it tracked here and all we have to do now  is add text make sure nothing is selected   just click in the empty area here and then add  a text node connect the text node to the tracker   and then here in the inspector type in some text  so text small problem now you can't see the text   and that's because we have to change one of the  tracker settings so select the tracker node and   then here in the inspector go to operation  and set the operation mode to match move   and that's it it's that simple and now the text  follows the movement of my hat and of course we   can just move the text to wherever we want i  think it's by far the easiest and fastest way   to stick text to a moving object it's a very  basic way to do it but it works i hope you   liked it thank you so much for watching and in my  next davinci resolve tutorial i will show you how
