That might be the worst possible knife to try and do that with. They make fillet knives for a reason.

hey what's up guys this is a jury jr. of Sin City outdoors and today I'm gonna show you guys how to filet a catfish these are the tools we're gonna be using today burn bees a serrated knife a fillet knife a pair of pliers a razor blade and a knife sharpener in case when you're nice go dull okay so first things first first we're going to take off the skin and the first organ uses the razor blade and what you're going to do is you're going to start by cutting a line see that bone right there you're going to cut a line on that bone all the way up up to the top of the head right here and you're going to do the same thing on the other side it's cut on both sides now and now what we're going to do is we're going to start right behind this fin poke a little hole and we're going to cut around the fin because I got a bone that sticks out pretty far and you're going to cut up as far as you can and you're going to repeat on the other side so now notice how it's cooked on around the whole thing all the way around and is connected to these two lines like cut earlier now what you're going to do is you're going to get where you're comfortable with the fish cut from this here you cut earlier and you're going to cut all the way down to the thin come on the back so I'm going to cut all the way down next you're gonna cut across the belly now you're going to cut across here all the way to the tail and you're going to do the same thing on the other side the next thing you're going to want to use is your pliers now they got real thick skin so you kind of want to get a good grip on them on the skin and sort of start it off with one of your fingers with your thumb and just get a good grip maybe twist it a little bit and just start to pull it should come up sometimes a ripoff just come back to skin and repeat on the other side now we want to remove the head and the with the guts so kind of otter cut right here down where you made that line earlier around this pin down to open it up then do the same thing on the other side grandpa razor finish it over up like this just cut across and now you move that the head comes off pretty easy if you want to get rid of this fin you grab your shredded knife and you're gonna click down all the way down here and the head should come off so all right where the head is once you feel it hit the backbone you're just gonna snap the neck by pushing it forward and then you're just gonna take it off and then it should come off with all the guts and I'm gonna rinse it off and show you guys what it'll look like with the head off after you do that it should look somewhat like this next we're going to remove this pin and you're going to use your pliers again and you're going to grab the fin and pull on and see how it comes out with the bones that's what you want should come out with the bones so you get a good hold of it and just pull and that you can throw on that bag now I'm going to cut the tail off and when he's Westar agent knife should come off pretty now we have a clean piece of meat what you're going to use is your fillet knife now move all your other tools aside put your fish Torgo like that you just open the ribs and hole a like this and I'm going to work down the back you want to go around these ribs and if you hold your knife soft the ribs should lead you around them and show you see going around the ribs which at the end of the ribs you folks your knife through and you're going to just finish the wrist that should come pretty clean and the rest of the ribs you just gonna cut up and there's your bonus fully the other side's gonna be a little bit harder to do once again when you get to the ribs tonight let the ribs guide your knife and eventually you get there and once again you can just cut them stick the knife through finish the rest of the flower making sure you get Bend on your knife comes to and you just finish up the rest of your fully by cutting it away from ribs and there's the other side of the fully the other side is usually a little bit harder to do but two boilers fillets that are ready for cooking bigger catfish are a little bit harder to do like this one it was about five pounds and both of the catfish we cut today are not going to fit in the pan together so I'm going to cut it in half and know that'll fit the pin and that will fit in the pan and that was a full demonstration I just showed you guys on how to thanks for watching just so you guys know I have a Twitter Instagram Facebook along with this YouTube account I've been trying to keep up with all of it please subscribe tell your friends about us see you outdoors
