How to cook filet mignon on the stove top

alright let me tell you how I make filet mignon steaks I bought two steaks there and I generally the only seasoning I use is a little bit of salt a little bit of pepper on both sides Pat it down so make sure you got both sides and also one one thing I like to do is if you've got these refrigerated let them come to room temperature so take them out an hour hour and a half before you're ready to cook let them come to room temperature before you start the process I am bringing my iron skillet up to heat you want to drop the steaks in the iron skillet and I'm not putting anything no all nothing I'm going to sear both sides of the steaks so there's not gonna be any seasoning or anything any or nothing like that in the iron skillet so that is the next step okay the next step just gonna lay these amazing looking steaks right into a hot iron skillet and I'm gonna sear each side for about three minutes or so that's what you want to hear it's almost set my timer on my phone for three minutes and I will turn them okay they've been on that side for three minutes we're gonna be three minutes on the opposite side really looking at look at that right there after the stakes have been seared on each side for three minutes what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna put them in the oven at 400 degrees I've got the oven set kind of looks funky on my phone if you can see there or not but I've got the oven on on set on 400 degrees so I'm just gonna put everything inside there I'm gonna grab the iron skillet everything and just slide it into the oven at 400 degrees after they've been in the oven for about three minutes I'm gonna turn them once again and I'm gonna give them another three minutes on the other side after those three minutes what I'm going to do is when we use a meat thermometer and I like them to be about 135 to 140 degrees on the inside that gives you that nice pinkish red center so that would be the next thing and there goes my smoke alarm okay I just put the meat thermometer in I'm watching it rise and it is approaching it's very close to 140 so these stakes are not far from coming out now what I like to do next is I like to take my Lipan just put them in a plate put a pad of butter on them and let these steaks rest for about five minutes before eating and you know if you like a little bit of garlic salt on it you can sprinkle a light amount of garlic salt on top of both steaks all right I've let this steak rest for about five minutes this pad of butter is melting really good that looks delicious let's cut into it see how it looks okay I've made the initial cut and there they are just absolutely beautiful I know they're going to be delicious that's the way I like mine you know if you like yours a little more on the rare side when it hits maybe a 130 or 135 degrees take it off in but this is the easiest way to make filet mignon at home skip the high prices of the restaurants and I guarantee these will taste better than the restaurant
