HOW TO BUY LIQUIDATION TRUCKLOADS - How To Start Buying And Reselling Truckloads Of Big Box Items

how to get started selling truckloads or even pallets of general merchandise item from your favorite big box store [Music] what's going on everyone my name is sam and welcome back to another youtube video in today's video i'm going to share with you guys some of the steps that i took to get started with buying truckloads and in the beginning pallets at a time of different general merchandise items from different stores including home depot walmart target amazon and even low before i get started if you guys are new to my youtube channel make sure you guys hit that subscribe button also smash that like button that way we can get this video out there for everyone to see when i first wanted to get started in this business what i did was i was lucky enough to know someone who already was doing something similar to this so i went and kind of picked their brain figure out what would be the best way for me to get started so his advice was for me to start with just buying one or two pallets at a time luckily for me he helped me find you know a good enough pallet for me to get started with but for someone who's just brand new doesn't have the connections like i did what would i do to get started if i was starting from prep step number one is realize that you want to do something like this as cliche as it may sound you have to be fully dedicated to it it does take up some time to run a business like this and what i mean is you're going to have to spend some time you know listing stuff meeting up with people packaging stuff going to the post office and all the nuances of running business be willing to put in that extra time or find time in your day if you're already busy set that aside to get started with buying and selling truckloads or pallets at a time you want to go and get set up with all the things that you need to run your business and a business model like this where you're going to be buying and reselling items some apps or things that you might want to consider getting right off the bat include setting up an ebay page setting up a business gmail account get a business name get all the licenses and permits that you need for your state if you guys are unsure of what those are it's as easy as going on google and searching what licenses i need to resell in my state i know for me in california i had to get my seller's permit and i had to get a business license for the state of california make sure you guys look into that and know exactly what it is that you need that way when you guys are ready to get started you guys have everything lined up and you can just go down your task and do everything and check everything off you also want to get things set up like if you don't have an offer up account set up an offer up account there are other apps like maricari next door which is a good one it keeps you within like a five to ten mile radius of where you live that way you stay in contact with people around you and you can let them know that you have things that you are looking to sell also set up a facebook page for your business that way you can get access to facebook marketplace so again you can start selling locally as well step number two is to find a place to store your item for some people this seems like the most challenging part of starting a business or something that kind of stops them from going forward pulling the trigger and buying inventory when i got started i did not have a storage unit like you see behind me what i started with was my bedroom when i was buying like one or two pallets at a time i kept everything inside my bedroom granted i was selling them too so you know every day it was that pile was getting smaller and smaller and more room was opening up in my room and also that was kind of a cool thing for me to do because it kind of like gave me an incentive to get rid of some of the stuff because it was an eyesore looking at it all the time in my room if you do have a budget where you can go and spend money on uh storage unit then i would recommend getting something like like this this right here guys is a 10 by 25 it holds approximately like 30 to 35 pallets of stuff when you're getting started i don't really think you need this much space especially if you're not going to be buying truckloads at a time if you're just buying small amounts of stuff you should be okay with like a 5x5 or 5x7 keep in mind as you do expand and grow your business you want to invest into a bigger space so you can buy more stuff the more stuff you buy the more money you're going to make step number three is start looking around for potential suppliers this is also another question that i get a lot on my youtube channel is where do you buy your stuff from like i mentioned earlier when i first got started i had a gentleman who was already in this business who was able to help me get started finding some stuff for me to start but i'm a very independent person and so i didn't want to be reliant on him for my inventory and for me when i was starting my own business i needed to have like documents proving that i was purchasing admin stuff so what i had to do was i had to go on my own and do something called research what i did was go on google and just type in truckloads of walmart pallet for sale near my location of california what i did was once i got those google search results i basically just went down and called every single one of them told them that i'm looking to buy truckloads and pallets of certain items within a certain you know mile of where i'm located within this price range and i told them that if they had anything available at the moment for them to send me the manifest and the price and the shipping quote and that i will get back to them and if they did not have anything to put me into their mailing list just in case something did show up i was able to receive an alert on my phone that way i can go and see what was available and if i was interested i can purchase it if you want a good place to look at what like potential items you could buy you could go on websites like liquidation.com you could also go on bulk.com and look at some of the options that are available on those websites kind of get a gist of what items are available out there and what price ranges um are also available for these options step number four is receiving your item depending on how big of a purchase you have made though if you bought like less than truckload which is normally like less than 10 or 15 pallets or a whole entire truckload which is more than 15 pallets it's gonna really dictate how your items are shipped to you keep in mind that if you are buying like a full truckload they're not going to deliver to a residential address meaning they won't bring it to your house you're going to need a commercial address or industrial address that's why a storage unit would be perfect if you're buying a less than truckload i still don't know whether they would bring it to your house or not i would make sure to bring that up with the shipping department sometimes they will do that i've seen people you know have blessing truckloads delivered to their house normally you know it's brought in one of those smaller trucks not a whole semi truck so they're able to maneuver around your neighborhood definitely bring that up with whoever you are doing business and whoever is going to be shipping items to make sure that they are able to bring it to the location that you have chosen when you do receive the items most of these companies the shipping companies will give you about two to three hours to unload these trucks if you have two or three friends that can help you unload there's no reason why you guys shouldn't be able to get a whole truckload unloaded within that three hour time slot that they give you if you have a pallet jack or a forklift even better that way you can just unload everything at one well not at once but like a pallet at a time instead of individual items and speed up process if you do go above that three hour or need more than three hours to unload the truck don't worry the truck's not just gonna take off on you from my experience it charges like an hour rate uh my guy charges me like fifty dollars an hour for him to keep the truck past that two or three hour times after they give me do not worry about that because most of the time that's not going to happen step number five is listing your item when you are listing your items there are a couple things that you guys want to make sure you do before you you know hit that submit button to post your item live up one you want to make sure that you know the item is complete there's nothing wrong with it it's not broken and it is being listed in the condition that you are listing it as i've had instances where people wanted to return an item because i forgot this one particular item was missing like the whole entire hardware for it even though i didn't know that it had hardware and so person wanted to return the item and i lost what i paid for shipping plus what i had to pay for the person to return the item so make sure you guys check these items for completeness you also want to make sure that you guys check the prices of these items or you list them my rule of thumb is that if i can sell the item for more than what i bought it for plus five dollars for shipping then i will go ahead and list it for sale on any online platform like ebay or amazon if not then i'm just going to hold on to it and then i'll just have like a garage sale or something like that where i can sell these items the reason for that is because sometimes it's not worth it to list an item for so cheap you're not going to make your money back and also it's not worth it to go and meet up with someone halfway across town like five or ten dollars so there you go guys those are some of the steps that i would take if i were to start this business all over again
