Arc survival ascended has a brand new building system which means rafts don't work like they used to in the original game which is why I want to show you how to build a raft base that not only has pretty much everything on board you could need but more importantly is drivable let's get cracking I Tinkers I'm TOS block and I'm back in Arc survival ascended to show you how to build this beautiful raft base that I have in front of me here now it's a bit of a lie this is actually a motorboat but just to prove it I have built it on a raft over there too the only difference is because this is the motorboat version I can fit more on this so if you wanted to do this I'd recommend doing it on the motorboat so you can add even more turrets but let's get inside and have a little look at what I've done and already you'll notice I have fitted stupid amounts in here and it's not because I'm on single player this will work on official servers it's because of the trick that I use to lower the foundation so that I can drive the raft while I'm on it it causes some weird glitching and it makes it so I can stack my cookout on my grill my grill in my preserving bin and so forth so this is a cool little build I've got a workshop over here with storage fabricator Smithy and chem bench this here is the kitchen the generator is hiding away in this secret room there and then I've got my bed some airons and my forges working away behind us on top of that we have our internal just to make sure if anybody gets in here they get shot they don't have an easy time of it and then if we jump on top you can see that I've got turrets hanging over the sides ready to kill anything or anyone that gets a bit too close in fact I've even popped some underneath now that we have sticky turrets so I think this is a decent build like I say you can add more turrets on the motoro version so knock yourself out you might want to do a little bit more framework on top with the beams it's up to you you we're going to have a quick look I'm going to show you the only difference in the raft right now and that happens to be just one beam one beam is gone purely because I don't have the structure count for it because I decided to add something a little bit extra and that was the top and this tank here to allow me to have drinking water inside and you can fill this up not right now because I'm in Creative mod and this is full but you can actually fill it up with the ocean water from your front door there it's really really super handy but if we jump on the roof I'll show you like I said the only difference with this one is that there is one Beam on my turret frames here missing and it's that one there so other than that this is actually exactly the same as the motorboat build like I said I'm going to show you how so let's get over to this raft that is empty I'm going to put on screen everything that you're going to need right now and then I'm going to show you through the method through the technique through the trick so that you can recreate this too and play with it on your servers in your single player worlds wherever you want really now you want to start off with your raft or your motorboat the technique is slightly different on motorboat but I'll link my short in the description showing you how to do this on a motorboat but essentially we want to get lined up with the raft and the way we're going to do that is to drive it and then Dismount it now at this point do not rotate your character that'll mess everything up we want to stay parallel to the raft like this and we're going to be looking for something we're looking for this Mark directly in front of you when you Dismount it's to the left of the central Plank and what I'm going to do is get a pillar out and I'm going to line it up with the bottom of that and then just move to the central plank into the middle of the center and from there pick out a sign and I'm want to place it and that will give me a way of getting my pillar in the middle of the raft and allowing me to change its height to the height that we need so I'm just going to roll back here into third person and I'm going to get a pillar out and you'll see that it snaps almost it aligns to the sign and then I'm going to place it and what I can do then is lower it and I want the center of the pillar the central column in line with the join between the top and middle Planks on the sign just like that when you've got that you can place it and now you can rotate you can move around everything is dandy now you just have to get that perfect or nothing else will quite work now the way we get this lower snap point to be able to drive the raft and make our little glitches happen is to pop a ceiling on top of the pillar then stick a quarter wall on the side and then finally place our foundation now from there you can go around the whole raft it'll be fully covered but you'll better drive it by looking down which is super super nice I was really gooded that I couldn't do this with the inbuilt system with the new building syst system I thought they would have fixed that but I'm so happy I found a way so we need one more just in there and like I say you can drive this now before I continue I think I'm going to get away from that noise and also make sure that the raft isn't going to conflict with any rocks Below on the edge of the shore cuz that can stop you placing things when you're trying if you're a little bit too close to a rock or a stone or anything really so we have our raft everything is lowered I'm going to start working on the build and I'll quickly show you why if I grab a structure you'll notice it's placeable right now okay but not over here which is weird and it gets worse when you add structures the game stops letting you place things now there is a way to fix that there's a couple of ways to fix that but we're not ready to get onto that yet I just want to show you so you can see the difference once we have some walls and ceilings down now then I need to pop this here and I'm just going to go all the way around with the walls all the way around on the raft only in the middle of the back I'm going to place a door and I like to place the double door so that's what I'm going to do I may as well get the doorway in there now and that is the walls done for the raft super quick super easy we then want have our ceilings on top so we're going to place them and it's easier if you look at the ceiling on the side you want to snap to just to get them all to snap make sure they're all connected and then in the middle we are going to put a hatch frame B job done and just like with the door we'll get that door in and where do I want it to hinge I want it to hinge there so I'm going to put my ladder that way now I'm going to stop there for now we're going to leave that on the inside and we are going to start working on getting some things down that we're going to want the first of which is our generator now then you'll notice it's red in the corner it's red along there I'm getting that problem even if I take it out with snapping there's areas where it will not work now I've got three potential ways of solving this and my favorite cuz it's the easiest if it works on a raft is to take out the seil unhide it and then to hide it again now all being well this will now go anywhere on the raft no it hasn't worked sometimes it does sometimes it doesn't second method is to just drive the raft a little sometimes doing that will fix the problem let's get the generator now and it has and if that doesn't work the third option is to go out of render of the raft and come back it's glitchy the game's Early Access and this is how we have to do it so I recommend building all of the raft first putting all of your building structures down then going out of render or getting the sail out or moving the boat and placing everything that goes inside of your base afterwards but I just want to get the generator down now so let's snap this in this corner because it's easier to build around it than it is is to build well to put it in afterwards so I'm going to put a secret door here and I'm going to go back to a normal wall here and that means we have access to our generator through this little gap which is super super nice I'm going to get that turned on nice and early then I want to get on the roof for the next part of the build so let's open the TRU door and we're going to put a ladder in here I like the face at this way you don't have to do things exactly how I do them if you want to face in so you walk in and up the ladder that's fine I just feel like this creates a nice little room divide when I'm trying to put my workshop over here the kitchen over here and my living quart is here so yeah just feels nice anyway we're going to get up top and I'm going to close this hatch up and I'm going to be using the metal beams so you need to get out the pillar and you need to hit R to change it to a beam and what I'm going to be doing here is putting these in the corner and then extending them out and the reason that I use the beams and the reason I do it like this is if you snap a wall or a triangle or a fence railing they only snap to one wall now with this building system so if I put a wall going out this way and the wall below me here got demolished or destroyed this would collapse this wall and this ceiling would no longer keep it up whereas with the beams they connect to the ceiling and the walls but also to each other so it's stronger than using any of the other building structures in the game so I'm going to go around and do that and I'm going to make sure that is on every single corner now on the motorboat you can build more of this if you want it's up to you you can take it further but bear in mind you can't place this over the door and it seems a little bit pointless placing it all the way around for me to not be able to have a tap inside so for me I'm leaving that one open at the back you do you depending on whether you're on a motorboat or a raft but that is essentially the structure for the turrets done we're going to get the turrets out next and we'll pop those down so here's my turret I like to take the snapping off just walk to the end of one of these beams hit it line the back leg up with the bols running down the center or the rivets and there you go we've got our first turret down and I'm just going to do that all the way around just to make sure we've got some good coverage now I do miss the hatch frames I do think they were a really great thing in the first game really fun use really cool for building structures but I think I'm going to get used to these and I might end up preferring them because you have so many more options when it comes to designing how your frames are going to be the only thing is takes a bit more time when you're making so many of them and yeah but we'll we'll get used to it I'm sure we'll adapt to the new game but if they want to bring hatch frames back I wouldn't complain you know what I do like them so there we go we've got our turrets all the way around and because the generator on and everything's Wireless now we can just get these turned on I may as well while I'm up here I'm wondering if I need to put ammo in cuz that spino is getting a bit close you know I'm not too not too happy about that don't want to get attacked even if I am in creative mode just gets in the way of is doing my building but there are the turrets on top done now I'm going to jump in the water next going to head down under and I like to put four under here means the raft has 12 turrets on in total which I think is plenty enough for a little raft like this give is getting a bit laggy there and I'm just going to get right in the corner here place and spin and then when it's ready which way around it is that way around let's pop it down turn it on Lovely and I'm going to do one of those in each corner it means Each corner of the raft has three turrets it used to be a lot harder to do this on a raft cuz you would have to build a structure underneath and it wasn't worth it so I'd only ever do it on a motorb so this is a nice little addition and it means you're protected underneath but also you've still kind of got three turrets on each Each corner which is real nice let's pop that there and then one more this is being what is it doing the game feels really really laggy in like it's messing about but there we go did I turn that one on no don't know why let's get that on and then that is our turret placement sorted and what I like to do next is find the way back into the raft now people like to use ramps they like use all sorts I'm not a fan because other people can stand on them I like to use a ladder they work just as well I can swim up grab it it's not going to work this one let's pick it back up this can be a little bit temperamental depending on how the ladder places I'm finding it a bit annoying let's see if it's going to work if this is happening all you have to do is surface first and then hit climb there we go yeah it's got to hold space bar or whatever it is on controller just to hug the surface of the water and climb up but that shouldn't happen all the time I think that's just a bit of a bug but that is is the actual raft the external of the raft complete and built so we can move on to having a look at how we want to fit everything inside now I'm going to start with the workshop area just over here to the right hand side when you walk in now the first thing you're going to need to place is going to be the chem bench and you want this up against this wall now you'll notice already this is clipping in and through places that it wouldn't on land in fact fact I'm going to show you right I'm here at my little land testing base and I built this because I thought I was tripping things were going on on the raft that shouldn't happen on official settings and I'll show you what I mean I've got the chem bench here I've got the Smithy here and I've got this tiny little Gap it's not big enough for a fabricator surely let's have a look no no it's not but it is on my raft over here I've got my refrigerator and a preserving bin I've managed to fit a get in a grill in this Gap let's see if it works on land n obstructed doesn't work but it does on my raft and it's all thanks to the foundation Lauren trick if you don't use my trick it won't work on normal raft foundations so I'm going to show you how to make this happen let's get back to the raft and Finish the build let's get back inside of here then and show you how to place these structures so that they all glitch and fit into this tiny 3x3 raft it's pretty impressive and it's all thanks to these foundations being lowered I don't know why it works it just does so I'm going to start with the workshop and I'm going to start with the chem bench now what you want to do is you want to flip this so it faces you and you want to push it into this corner right up against the wall for the generator and place it that is your first little task the next thing you want is the Smithy so I'm going to grab one of those going to flip that so the Anvil is near me and I'm going to do the same I'm going to line up against the back there and and hopefully get it to place it's not looking like it wants to place against the chem bench I swear it did when I did it last maybe it's just there that I place it then there we go straight in the corner beautiful and now just to prove it that this will work on official the fabricator that wouldn't fit now fits doesn't work on land but it works in the raft and if you just look this way little B snaps into place and you've got an accessible fabricator Smithy and chem bench so that is proper class now I wanted some storage so I decided to keep it small and save some space just by scooting this right up against the fabricator and placing it because these are stackable if you turn snapping on you can actually put three on top of each other and that gives you 45 Slots of storage that's the workshop complete it's really really simple easy to do but super effective and like I say everything is is accessible now then we need to do the kitchen area so I'm going to start with the refrigerator and I'm going to jam that right against the door to the generator like so that is the first step the next step is to grab your preserving bin and instead of placing it fa and forward what you want to do you can do it like that but it's better if you have it up against the side of the fridge facing to the left of the raft you just want to bring it until it snaps and then pop it back one just to make sure it's protruding a little bit again it wouldn't clip into the fridge like that on land but it does on the raft it's proper wild the next step is to get the cooker so you're going to grab that easier in first person this and just walk forward till it snaps if it's not snapping properly and it's out the raft just look left it'll snap right and you can place that now this bit again is hit or miss you can do it regardless but I have had one occasion where this didn't place going to get the grill is going to walk forward and snap it in here now you'll see it's not working I don't know why sometimes this does sometimes it doesn't I have tested it multiple times but if it isn't working don't worry what you can do is you can pick up the industrial cooker and then get this out where is it and you put it against the back wall and just step to the left in fact sorry you've got to put free placement on so let's cycle with e nope you got to hold the cycle with a into free placement I want it against the back wall in fact it might be good for you to line its feet up with the line on the floor to get this more accurate I think that's pretty good and then we're going to walk forward until it goes red and then step back and if you just step to the right this will clip right into here it'll pop and then you want to just take it back again so it's at the furthest point and place your grill so if you're not lucky that's the approach you need to take it's probably a good thing that it didn't work for me so I could show you that and that is the grill in the perfect position for us to be able to put the cooker down now this can be a little bit weird sometimes having already put the cooker there but you can still get those snaps you just got to find the right one it seems like looking in the corner more tends to find it so there we go we're going to pop the cooker there over the grill and that is the kitchen done we should be able to access all of these there's the refrigerator the preserving bin in the middle you get the grill and over the left hand side you get the cooker so that's us sorted we've got a kitchen in here we got a workshop in here and all that's left to think about is our living quarters and forges so let's do that next now I like to put airons down purely because the temperature fluctuates way more in here than the previous game it's actually dangerous it's deadly so I'm just going to pop one of these up against the wall in the corner and we're snapping on we're just going to go across and go right up to the door it gets a bit tight here but it's easy to access the door because you can get it from above the air conditioners and next to those we're going to place a bed it used to be the case that you woke up facing the pillar but it doesn't seem to be the case anymore so we're going to put that right against there you seem to face the side and let's just pop it down so it looks nice there we go lovely and then we've got all this space in between to put down our forges so let's grab these and sometimes it won't let you align them to the wall but it seems to be working now other than a little bit of a dip there so let's get these right and go right with the bed you'll notice you can clip the bed now which you normally can't but don't when you spawn in you'll get stuck so leave a little Gap there you leave a bit more of a gap if you want place the first one snap the next two bam that is the forges in as well like it's really easy just the luring of the foundations trick makes all of this possible it's bunkers now now the last little piece that I want to do is stick a tap down inside so that I have running water in my kitchen I just like to get the grills not the grills the forges in first so that it doesn't get in the way and again I can access that still get the cook still get the grill but I need that to be running with water so we're going to take care of that next and the way I'm going to do that is by getting this hatch open and climbing onto the roof just get upstairs let me around here let's close it and we're going to do a little bit of work outside here now I've left this to the end you can do it when you like but we are going to put down a quarter wall next to the door not a wall it's a ceiling next to the door there and then from above it's the easiest way to place this I'm going to grab one of these a metal water tank take snapping off just going to dip it over the top in first person bring it back as far as you can get it roughly Center and place now when you jump down here because the tank is empty you can access it and you can fill it with nearby water takes it out of the sea out of the ocean and puts it in your tank and as a result when you are now inside that's the ladder I need the hatch frame it's so junky the ladder and hatch frame system I don't like it I need to fix it that's the hatch lovely I have to read every time but I've got running water in my base now if I need a drink and you've never been to have that on a raft before so this is incredible we've got a workshop with storage chem bench fabricat and Smithy we've got a kitchen with a cougar a grill a preserving bin and a refrigerator and now tap and then some forges a bed and airons also we've got our access into a protected generator now there's one last thing that that can fit on this raft due to taking that beam out on the top and that is an internal turret now it says it's obstructed it isn't that is because I've just placed a structure on the outside so we've got to try our little tricks let's just move the raft forward a little see if it fixes it pretty pleased game just be kind it looks like it hasn't going to try one more time if not I'll do the sale if not it's going to be a fly out of render job but usually just doing this works it's annoying it really is no well looks like we're going to put the Sail Out watch this isn't going to work either and I like to wait a few seconds between doing the little tasks I'm not sure if all of these work but the things that I've done maybe the sale doesn't work at all well I'm going to go out and render I'll be back and then we'll get this turret down let's see if this will work now where is it it will there we go we can place it get in and I want to put this in front of the generator door just to stop anybody coming through the hatch frame or front door unchallenged this will give them a few bullets so the way I do this is I have it facing away from us I get the front right foot where I want the back foot to be roughly so probably somewhere around there going to click and I'm going to rotate and make sure everything's lined up how I want it so when it out of the way the ladder get it parallel with the chem bench that front foot there and there we go it's placed we can turn this on and that will be our internal it'll take care of anybody who's an enemy coming inside of base now the good news is you can actually open this door still and if you look up into the left you can access the generator without having to take it out because it is the secret door you can close it from here so that works a treat if you can't just jump on top of the the turret and you're be to get in and solve that anyway but that is everything in the raft and if I've done it right there shouldn't be any more room to place anything there you go can't place anything else so that is a fully loaded full fully kitted out raft build for Arc survival ascended the airons the bed you've got your forges you got a full kitchen with your cooka Grill preserving bin and refrigerator we've got a turret protecting our hidden generator and then we got a workshop with a chem bench Smithy we've got the fabricator and we've got some storage and then not to forget we've got our little tap with a refillable water tank outside and oh can't do that I keep forgetting that we've got to open this first these days such a stupid thing man you should be able to open it when you get to the top of the ladder that's how Works in real life I mean what if it's a really tall ladder you kind of get out but we've also got our turrets over look in the base to keep it protected and also some more under so I think this is a pretty good build I'm not the type to say the best build in Ark survival ascended the best raft base but it's decent and I've not seen one that has more crammed inside now now one of the reasons these rough bases are good is if you keep all your valuables over here you can actually stop people from stealing them if you get your raft I'm going to go on a little drive to the world border and I'll show you how you can park this up if you are a PVP player just to make sure that nobody gets your loot I should be coming up to the world border very very very shortly there it is and I'm just going to pull into it like this and put half of my raft inside the side that has my workshop in and the reason is if you're going to log off and you don't want people to be able to get your stuff if you do that when they sink your raft or your motorboat or they get inside they can't get your loot because the bags stay behind the world border nice and safe it's a little bit sweaty but it is a PVP tactic that everybody uses and it doesn't seem to get anybody in trouble so it must be okay I mean I'm not breaking a rule here I'm just parking at the world border but what I am going to do is move away from here and just give you a little bit of a word of warning some advice if you are playing PVP I wouldn't recommend living on a raft especially not as your soul and only base because these things can go down pretty easy maybe not the motor board so much but even the leads could take this thing down and if all your belongings are on it all of your belongings can potentially be lost so i' maybe get a land base something built up first and use this as a second space or a way of getting around the map they all really good fun but don't put all your eggs into one basket if you're playing PVP it's never a good idea but this is a cool little design I think it's pretty sturdy if you don't like the full thing hopefully you can benefit from luring the foundations or maybe even some of the clipping that it allows you to make with structures but that is it from me that is my little raft build hopefully you liked it if you do please remember a like subscribe and ring that notification Bell helps me out massively does wonders for the channel and I really do appreciate it if you want to get more involved with the community check out the links Below in the description we've got our Discord there I'll also link the shorts about how to build the raft and the motorboat with the technique in more detail so check those out I'll put the long form there as well why not but until next time guys you take care and I'll catch you later Char all
