breaking the youtube algorithm by basically having this video exist and then i will also be explaining how the youtube algorithm can be broken further using live streams and i will even be um be inviting lovely fantastic guests who have created splendid content over the year of uh 2021 and we will be um we'll be sitting down and talking to them we've got lots of lovely guests we've got the so there are many ways that the youtube algorithm works my friends and one of them is interactions now interactions are generally measured off of a percentage ladies and gentlemen the more likes you get to the lower quantity of views the better the more comments you get to the lower quantity of views the better that tells youtube that that content was spicy and needs to be shown to more people because it left a lasting impact because the average person doesn't comment on every video but if that person comments on this video then that means something and youtube goes my goodness this video is inspiring people to say something or do something and that matters but what happens when you have a team of 4 000 people like the stream before the stream even starts well when that happens you end up with this ladies and gentlemen this is the search result for hashtag hello 2021 this is the official youtube live stream and this is me the engagement percentage bearing in mind this stream had no viewers because it hadn't started the engagement percentage ladies and gentlemen it's a hundred and eighty thousand one hundred and eighty thousand viewer engagement percentage we did it we did it interesting there wasn't actually any seo behind the promotions that youtube were doing you see because when you upload a video on youtube you have a title you have a thumbnail you have a description and you have tags and you need to basically allow all of these to synergize for the youtube algorithm to go yes this should be promoted now the way youtube basically promotes terms and searches is basically let's say if you have hello 2021 in the title and the and the description and the comment section and the live chat and also the tags then that's going to be put near the top of the youtube search results for hello 2021 now i've done that the guys over at youtube didn't and that's why we're here today because we're going to break it even more and before i get into this thank you so much that i appear in the search results before them now their stream puny 5.4 000 likes our stream splendid 10 000 likes their stream seo score only uh 34.1 this is the actual active seo score it's terrible absolutely terrible um and here's the exciting stuff this is the tag section now when you upload a video on youtube you've got to include tags so that people know kind of how well a video is doing what search results it appears by so you can see hello uk number one basically means this video appears close to the top of hello uk 2021 there's just one downside the poor youtube employee who made this video evidently like me probably has dyslexia because they've included riveting search tags like hello 202 which is evidently them not being able to type out hello 2020 which basically means why was this included equally this stream contains the incredible incredible content creator famous youtuber you guessed it it's it's jeweleeper she's here how do you spell jeweleeper i mean you can't see it because the chat is filling it up you spelled jewel leaper d-u-a space l-i-p-a mr youtube employee spelled jualipa in two different ways they spotted jewel leaper just in case that was the way it was meant to be spelled and my personal favorite jewelry pa ah the i just don't know if the poor guy who made this dream even cared [Music] i just someone's being paid to make this okay there's an employee who's being paid to make this oh my goodness and they didn't even spell check the tags also these tags are terrible okay if you're doing a video on youtube and you include the tag pewdiepie pewdiepie as a tag doesn't mean anything because pewdiepie is a term that gets searchers that gets searched so often and has so much competition it is meaningless the tag rey and catherine ryan aren't appearing in search results they don't have a hashtag next to them because they're so busy and equally when you look at this video and and when the algorithm looks at this stream it doesn't see it doesn't see any of the catherine ryan it doesn't see jualipa because the name jualipa is only included here and here it's not in the title so why would why would the algorithm assume jewel leaper is even here and the jewel leaper fans would want to see it but it gets better it gets even better because this is the uk event ladies and gentlemen this is the hashtag uk hello 2021 event did you know there's an american event get ready for um for hello 2021 america's edition hello 2021 america's edition complete with spacebar spambots contains mr beast it's mr beast you guys remember mr beast from upload a video on youtube youtube puts in one tag and that tag is the name of your channel so that is that is it that is the one tag that youtube put in here i just i just can't this is what they've hopefully of course it could be a terrible year i mean i actually have prepared a graphic of what 2021 could look like you see using yorkshire tea as my foresight i realized this is what we could be going into um i used complicated algorithmic learning to work out that this is the future we're headed to that's right we have to be careful we have to be very careful because if this happens the would do coffee drinkers want the world to go faster they want to do more things have more action watch more paint drying than ever before but no we tea drinkers know the truth and that is that when it comes to watching paint dry instead you want to go to 0.25 speed because that's when you really get to see the detail the detail of the paint drying is in 4k only goes up to 1080p which is a is a shame but you know budget constraints there's not many 8k paint drawing videos out there but now now in 0.25 speed we can see the greatest content that has ever been made by putting it to 0.25 speed we've made this 10 hour video 40 hours which means we've just increased the content of this video four times that's right there are now four times more content on this video we've done it we've absolutely done it now what we can do using the power of modern technology is work out where the most of the action is happening so we can decide if i were to skip forwards do you feel that we will see the most change in the left side or the right side of the screen the choice is yours chat left or right which side of the paint will change the most we will jump forwards exactly one hour the the only content creator in 2020 who was still playing foxhole very impressive digby i i kind of am the only content creator playing foxhole now which is weird because it's a fairly good game it's a fun game but i haven't played it since 2018. so um yeah i think it's just the problem that you have is that there's a lot people play that game to win which means that there's a lot of stream sniping that goes on you can counter that by playing massively egregious bits of colonial propaganda though and that wards away the wardens oh no that is experience on this you just blast them i mean i am i am somewhat of an expert in stream sniping i once streamed planetside 2 and we had like 4 000 players playing with me but equally the entire planetside 2 subreddit realized that there was like 5 000 noobs walking across the countryside and jesus christ the stream sniping was insane we got a carrier up and within like 30 seconds the entire air force of all of the servers converged on our one giant spaceship and killed it instantly which side were you playing for was it t we were the nc um which was who came along and blew up our great big spaceship which is come on trust the good god now no no i'm not safe at all now digby what is your proudest achievement of 2020 in terms of content i don't care what you got up to in your actual life i wrote a wrap uh based around the arbites or the adapters arbites who are the basically the police force for the 40k universe okay built an armor mission based around it right um and we played it on rivie's channel and it went really really well and i realized that if i'd have been a decent content creator i would have sent you the file in advance right i've not done that i can send it through to you now i mean it is too late now but sorry i'm getting this correct you made a made a 40k inspired rap and then based in entire armor-free mill op operation around a wrap that you created uh yeah that's the longer short of it it sounds ridiculous do you mean rewinds a pr disaster are you saying it doesn't make sense on a platform with so many diversified creators to create really shoehorned fake community feels i think i just think it's probably a bad idea as a company that hosts something like 12 million creators yes favorites because you're always going to disappoint the other 11 million nine hundred and ninety nine thousand that you don't pick yes this is the issue here is audiences in their own right this is the thing because with like with youtube if youtube doesn't include someone that is literally a fandom of millions of people who will now aggressively go to youtube and be insanely angry but when it comes to twitch anyone can be big on twitch to put this into perspective chat okay there are ten thousands of you watching me right now i'm saying digby digby how many followers on twitch do you have 40 odd thousand you're 40 odd thousand give or take right do you know how many followers i have on twitch like oh on twitch on twitter hey i've got i've got 28 000. i've got 27 and 800 followers and i haven't streamed on twitch ever that's right i am twitches i am one of twitch's largest content creators and i have never streamed on the platform it is insane if we go to my uh my creator dashboard here get ready for some premium content um i have 35 subscribers what the [ __ ] then again if you ever do stream those people are gonna have the founder badge so i can see why they've done it yeah it does make sense although i don't think anyone has the founder badge due to the fact that um there is actually follow account is actually going up yeah it's fine just ignore the activity feed nothing's going on there but yeah i'm one of i'm one of twitch's largest content creators and i've never streamed on the platform so what are my plans for 2021 i will spoil spoil a few digby is to become the largest content creator on twitch that doesn't actually stream on twitch is is my aim and to achieve something like a hundred thousand followers without ever streaming on the platform that is the plan i it's possible i think you can you could do it oh we've got a hype train we've got a hype using twitch sings however due to copyright restrictions we can't because twitch's copyright policy is that they just want everyone to leave the platform and go to mixer except you can't because mixer tonight it has been going great so there are various things we worked out you can do to sabotage youtube first um the way that youtube kind of grades a video there's like an interaction ratio so um it's the percentage of people who liked a video or commented on a video equating to how many people um actually have a view on that video now because this is a live stream before the live stream had started so many people had commented basically talked in the live chat so many people had liked it the interacting ratio of the stream before it was live was at um 300 000 which doesn't isn't meant to happen on youtube a standard interactive ratio on youtube is five percent um yeah three hundred thousand percent seems a little above average if i do say so like that is that is quite high yeah now i've been testing kind of ways to break the youtube algorithm with live streams and we managed it with the cyberpunk live stream that i did because the cyberpunk live stream the vod of the live stream was like 20th on youtube trending it was a like four hour uncut vod with continuous video and technical difficulties because the game refused to run and it was just on youtube trending because the interaction ratio because there were so many people talking and the watch time was so high youtube was like yeah this is about as good as just the average random fortnight [ __ ] we can scoop up so just put it on the front page so you were trending on the front page of youtube before you even streamed is that right not for this this you can only trend after you've streamed youtube has a separate place for live streams where they like to keep us and shield us from the dangerous internet world right well so you've completely i mean i imagine you're like the number one streamer for their whole event that they're they've been pushing for tonight um i mean yes if you search hello 2021 um or hashtag hello 2021 because my chat has only been spamming hashtag hello 2021 since i went live i am the i'm at the top i beat the youtube official event and what i love is that the youtube official event didn't even bother doing like tanks correctly like i i know i showed you the tag of which was like everyone like it's just a rule of thumb i mean they kind of haven't like um but like it's weird because it's probably been the busiest year youtube wise i've ever had because like for three months i did daily uploads for the first time in my life yeah how was that because i've tried daily uploads don't don't do it don't do that never again i think it was too bad was it good for your channel though do you feel like it was a positive influence on your channel or do you feel that it probably wasn't really worth the effort of mental health straight um i mean there was definitely some mental health strain just trying to do it daily but i mean i'm glad i tried it because i've always been curious as to what it would be like and i did it once and i'm done with it now yeah i'll never do that again um but i mean it was nicer as well for the time to actually just because i i started doing it like when lockdown and covet stuff was kicking off yeah so it was kind of nice in that sense that it's like oh god the world's on fire well i can keep myself busy and you know here's some entertainment for folks because yeah you know god only knows we've needed it this year i did a similar thing i think i did a daily upload every every day and i managed about half a week um and that was it i just decided it was impossible but you are a content creator which i find terrifying artie because i remember a jingle jam last year when we could actually be there in person hold hands kiss and take each other out for dinner which we did which we did often um you literally spent so much time just being able to go right i'm on this stream today and then you just immediately went okay i'm now editing this video and i find that terrifying because instead i just went for i'm on a stream tomorrow i want to stream the next day screw it i'm not going to upload for four days or five days what could go wrong turns out a lot of stuff could go wrong you should not stop uploading in december it's a very bad idea yeah december's like you know holiday time and that oh and i did the exact same thing again this year which was very good fun just missing no i mean i i always take more of a break in january so i pretty much just work most of december and then i can take like a proper holiday like last year like i went to like i was in vegas for like um in the states for like a good two weeks wow that was [ __ ] amazing um like this year i'll probably just be playing fallout new vegas by myself for two weeks because i can't travel looking forward to that i mean i've i think i've i've got one holiday booked in the summer i'm going to the channel island of jersey but by then ah you can generally make it in and you have to just do a cover test at the airport because at the same time last year so that'll be my holiday of rainy rainy island but it's going back to where i come from so you know i love the channel islands it feels great also at the moment i've never been it's honestly creators as soon as you invite one content creator and exclude another because you have to because there are literally thousands and thousands of channels with more than millions of subscribers you you make an audience of millions of people suddenly go why was my favorite youtuber arty game not invited to this i hate youtube you can't make everyone happy and especially when you invite people like myself or rt or anyone when we appear in these videos we have to do things that are unique to our style otherwise it looks weird tinny and corporate but when you do stuff that's unique to your own style it's really cringy for everyone else who doesn't know your style like that's the thing and like if i came out i was like oh country roads guys am i right why is this man funny do you guys on youtube how's it been have you had fun i have i i feel kind of bad saying that that 2020 has been like a really really strong year for my channel but yeah it's it's been great like the videos that i that i put on this year i think i think every single one of them managed to reach trending get on the trending page i feel like that that has to actually be some kind of record um because there are content creators that appear on trending often but those content creators are often um uh people who are uploading lots and lots of videos so not all of their videos make it on so it is actually insane the amount of um incredibleness that goes into i guess the um uh the back end of your videos like do you find that you're optimizing seo in any way shape or form oh goodness i'm probably doing myself like a huge disservice with my like choice of titles and everything well no your titles are great i think they're fantastic i i think they they work well for like the specific audience that i'm going for but like every time that i managed to get on trending which i guess was every time this year i'm consistently baffled because i'm like this this is a very niche joke that i feel like the wider audience isn't like necessarily primed to uh like immediately gravitate towards so every time it happens i'm like okay i guess whatever youtube employees put me on there like must really like me i mean i feel the same but also i can tell you if you're not put on there by youtube employees the system is actually organic i know it's it's a big surprise we all thought yeah as far as i know they have at least they at least have someone like checking it so that nothing crazy gets on there at least not anymore now that they've had the controversy that they had well i i still think they don't always fully check it because i think the last video of mine that went on to trending was like a four-hour unedited vod of like cyberpunk um and it was just like the stream itself was fun and i was having fun with my audience but the actual content was a mess because uh there were graphical errors continuously because my capture like software can't record cyberpunk at all for some reason it just doesn't mesh with streamlabs obs wow so yeah it was it was horrible but at the same time youtube thought it should do better than fortnight today which was truly majestic hey that's an achievement hey speaking of streams i saw that you you're blowing up on twitch despite not being on twitch yes congratulations i'm quite jealous actually i'm doing great on twitch live update on twitch um uh 351 subscribers and 29 000 followers on twitch it's a it's been a great year for my twitch channel very good nicely done i've been trying to get twitch going this year i've been streaming a lot of chess and i'm showing you guys i think like 7 000 followers so have you um have you ever played the legendary game that is four player chess on chess.com oh i i tried a few games i was so confused as to what like the goal even was it's it's diplomacy okay diplomacy you have to you have to convince the other players to tag team one player and beat him into the ground and just be in the final jewel and then you're almost guaranteed to win i have won two of the three games of four player chess that i've played and it has been an absolute hoot it's a riveting game of those games but it is certainly fun i imagine it would be a lot more fun if i was playing with people that i knew but i was just like going into random lobbies i mean it's kind of like playing among us with random people i'm sure no one enjoys that i mean i don't really enjoy playing among us full stop because it makes my friends shouty and i don't like it when my friends are shouting fair enough yeah it it's it's not exactly the kind of game i'm the best at either no well it's a game i'm good at i'm just don't like playing which is an issue and there are a lot of games like that games where i'm good but i don't enjoy and then games that i'm bad at but i really enjoy like cs go oh fair enough now if i will ask you a couple of interesting questions about your channel like for example where on earth your name comes from because this is something i don't know at all oh okay um i mean it's pretty basic like just i i took the the tier list and zoology and just like ah let's cram those together and slap it together yeah i just went on with it and i guess it worked uh because there's a few fun little other things about the name like for example uh i learned after the fact and people kept accrediting this to me being super clever and i was like no this is totally an accident uh but i guess tyr means animal in uh in german oh and so it's like a pun in german by accident oh my goodness so i have like a decent german chunk of my audience who thinks i'm some billion iq wordplay master i mean i'm like no i i didn't do it that's actually brilliant i love i love content creators have like really weird names that don't only mean something in a different language oh that's really good i only know like four other content creators have names that work that way that's fantastic now here's an important question how long does it take you to edit each video roughly now i know there's going to be a huge disparity between them but the editing that goes into your videos are terrifying and as someone who has edited videos i don't envy how much time it takes so um how long yeah it's it's a while i i think at minimum a week but at times it's on like two or three weeks jesus uh a bulk of the time honestly is finding clips in the first place because it's it's just scouring stock footage websites you know i go to getty images pond5 shutterstock oh i've got licenses for all of them too yeah yeah exactly and you just dig through like type in a specific animal and just watch all of them like a hundred maybe a thousand videos that are all like six seconds each and try to find the ones that like i can actually do little fun meme effects about and that takes up the bulk of the time once i actually compile all the clips that i'm going to use it's it's not it's still plenty of work but it's it's nothing compared to the tedium of of digging through especially because a lot of these websites have terrible oh they're absolutely bad for they're so bad for searching they're also so bad for like filtering out the garbage from the okay stock footage because there's a lot of stock footage which is just literally unusable and is just the worst thing and for my latest video it's about bats i see you on your stream yeah you got my channel so bats so i have to like filter through all of the baseball oh no just diluting it i'm like no i don't want to see someone hit a baseball and then for the for the lizard tier list you have to filter for all the pictures of like world leaders yeah oh my goodness yeah exactly yeah so that's that's the bulk of the time the editing itself since i really enjoy doing it it doesn't feel like it takes as long but yeah at this point i'm like trying to hire people to like search through stock footage for me yeah i mean i recommend that i recommend you find someone to search for stock photo footage for you i mean my editor goes through the stock footage now which is an absolute life-saving thing um but yeah of this year okay which video that you've made did you enjoy the most like which video was were you like that's my magnum opus i really liked making the frog and fish tearless i think the fish tearless most of all which i i didn't expect to do as well as it's the it's at the top just because it of course the tier concept is totally made up at least in terms of biology of course anything that's alive is doing decent so um i just kind of have to go with whatever is my favorite what i whatever i think is the most fun no i did mention a day ago that you should do a corgis rop video and it's very apt because my corgi has just broken down the door into my office and has just come to say hi oh hello georgie hello oh you cute little sausage oh now what kind of research goes into your videos in order to make them uh so it's a it's a lot of reading on on wikipedia and then watching basically every nature documentary that's been made about a given topic um but beyond that i mean it's it's fairly surface level stuff there's nothing to i try not to get too high level with uh with the stuff i put in the videos because i'm just not that good at relaying information i don't think because i get a lot of comments i mean it just showed me that they don't understand what i'm talking about yeah like it's it's diff you can't go into like too much detail with videos because not everyone is there to um to like basically get a lecture on zoology instead most of them are there to watch incredibly fun edits of exactly in my oldest videos i used to go into a bit more like uh taxonomy stuff and people just like word not or not like for for example my cat tier list which is the first video that i made that like really blew up um i tried to do a pretty good job of discussing okay what is what is the difference between the two main groups of the big cats the the panthers and the the felids um and people are still in the comments like you forgot the panther and i'm like no you don't understand panther is like a group it's not a it's not a singular animal but there's nothing there's no way i can explain that no you can't explain about going to like 400 page documents of what a cat is and what a cat isn't exactly i mean i i i honestly i've got to be honest um when it comes to animals there's lots of important decisions that need to be made and seeing as you have done a cat deal list and there hasn't been a dog tear list are you a cat person oh no i'm 100 a dog person oh thank god i can send you a picture of my puppy i've got a puppy named iro he's a portuguese water dog slash poodle please please we'll definitely have a picture oh my god yeah but i think with cats the thing is that cats are actually very combat oriented whereas dogs uh are a bit less so they're a bit more on the scavenger slash social side different cats just like straight up murderers so cats literally kill no like wildlife around them they just don't don't just they just don't care about the world and that's fine for billions upon billions of dead birds and snakes and mice and lizards every year they're an ecological disaster for yes many equals many ecosystems they are literally killing the world but you know what they're cute and fluffy and we feed them food so what more can you do what more can you do my god now um in terms of youtube how are you feeling about youtube in this incredible uh youtube hello 2021 um which i've just tab back into and i have no idea what the heck's going on um wow when i see things like this i just i'm reminded of how little of youtube i'm actually familiar with because i mean i feel like i know a lot about my corner of youtube you know the educational slash gaming fear i like know most people and then something like this pops up which is like here's all the most popular people i'm like i know none of these people okay i'm very out of touch [Laughter] you're saying you haven't seen the clip of the woman creating her own treadmill in the kitchen and knocking herself out on an oven it was entertaining i'll give it that but no it was quick i'm familiar with it no i mean i'm i'm pretty similar like i think this is the issue with um with big youtube events like this we have so many different content creators and you're often you i mean you're active in like um the youtube education side of things i'm very active in like the youtube game reviewing side of things like i don't know if you've heard of mandalore gaming or seth siege or whatever i love those videos they're fantastic and i watch basically all of them but if something changes like say this lovely content creator here called yammy i don't know who they are i don't know what they've done i don't know what is going on and it just leaves me leaves me comfortable but it's because youtube is such a big incredible platform in 2020. there's content for everyone there's content for people who want to work you don't have to know everything and that's and that's fine i'm fine staying in my corner and and letting that be because it's that's beyond me really yeah definitely i mean i i do you watch runescape content because you have a lot of runescape references yes i absolutely do i watch a lot of content do you watch like settled i do not watch any runescape content because you don't oh okay okay there was one time when i i was interested in runescape and then i worked out this kind of exploit which basically involved breaking the instances of the server to duplicate items and the only way to pull it off would literally be to use like server farms of bots and i was considering could i do a live stream and get my audience to do it instead of bots and i could have but i just felt that it would have taken a lot of work and potentially upset the people at runescape yeah you would have had a lot of angry people because the game already has like a huge issue with bots so adding fuel to that firewood would uh i wouldn't want to be on the end of that uh no no a little exploit oh my goodness now um in terms of 2021 have you got any fun plans yes i do i've got a a few different things so um i don't know if you've heard of the well i guess if you watch my videos you might know about the platform nebula i do know about nebulae yes yeah i heard you talking earlier about some of the stuff that like died this year yes uh like like uh mixer the other thing i would talk about is uh cuibi i think qibby oh yes i've heard of queen i was i was very proud that my like i partially owned nebula and the fact that that outlived yeah uh i was very proud of that you literally beat a i mean it's insane because you've outlasted a a platform which had so much outside money from like um from hollywood and just died it was just a flash in the pan launched april 6 2020 the service raised 1.7 billion dollars and it's dead like imagine spending 1.7 billion dollars on a company and just killing it instantly exactly whereas we've had we've spent zero in advertising in fact we've been paid for it today oh my goodness they just never had the audience but anyways yeah so i've got a lot of fun stuff planned with with uh nebula uh i'll let you in a little a little secret i'm i'm gonna do a little bit of like a bushcrafting uh series which is kind of like i don't know if you've seen like primitive technology i have seen some primitives kind of a thing like that except do it where i frame it as a like a crafting game almost like minecraft or don't starve or seven days to die or something like that that's how i'm gonna do my face reveal on youtube it's gonna be great oh face reveals on youtube i've i'm always terrified of them i've always loved anonymity for the sole reason that um it's i find it quite fun to be walking around with content creators and have them be recognized instead of myself um like you you might know this education youtuber because you lied around the education youtuber sphere but someone called dr simon clark um he's oh yeah yeah do you know simon he's a [ __ ] yes he's a good friend of mine and you of course might know that his probably most famous video is like a video all about how to get into the university of oxford now um i live in oxford and whenever simon visits oxford we naturally go out on the town um go to all of his old university jaunts and get very drunk and every time it happens he gets recognized so many times by oxford university students because they watched his video of how to get into oxford and got into oxford so you're walking around the streets and everyone is just like literally going wild for simon and i just enjoy being able to stand at the side and have people look at me and being like who are you to stand next to the god that is dr simon clark that's fantastic at least he can like turn it off like he doesn't have to go to oxford right no he doesn't go anywhere else and then he's not accosted constantly that's pretty cool yeah that's the thing i'm scared of because i've reached the like critical mass on youtube where i don't think i can turn off the fame i think there's only like a handful of countries like mongolia where i can be pretty certain that i'm not gonna get recognized at all um but like the uk there's like thousands and thousands of people that might recognize me which is terrifying absolutely terrifying that's very true maybe i shouldn't be so hasty to uh ditch my anonymity although i promised i promised a face reveal at like 500k yeah and i just never did i mean i promised a face reveal at 100k and 500k and 1 million and i've done none of them yeah i did do a face reveal on someone else's channel i'm not going to say whose channel is because otherwise my uh audience will go blake searching for it and they're they're very bristol-based channel um and so basically whenever i go to bristol i always get recognized but as long as i'm not in bristol i hardly get recognized it was like fine until um i think there was like a time when i was in bristol doing something with these content creators and then for some reason my my mum decided it'd be a great idea to come down to bristol so i'd pick her up at the train station and have like a day out in bristol with her and then just someone at the train station immediately recognized me and that was the second time i'd been recognized in the wild with someone seeing me with my muff with like my mom and that is like a nightmare a physical nightmare nice no one wants to be seen without being recognized i i managed to get recognized one time just because i was wearing my own merch i was wearing a tears you shirt i went to like a restaurant like culver's and the cashier that's a fast food joint i was there with all my friends uh and the guy at the cover was at the it was culver's was the restaurant and uh the guy that at the cache was like oh i love that channel i'm like oh you do cool like it's my channel like he like he like flipped out he'd start shaking he ripped off like a a piece of blank receipt paper and i was like can i have your autograph and i'm like oh oh boy i was not prepared for this was that like your first time yeah yeah it was great because like all my friends saw me like do this and saw me like have my one big moment of fan interaction in real life yeah so they never let me live that one down my one big fan interaction in real life was um going to collect my po box um in like oxford and the guy who was one of the staff members at this po box place i like go up and i'm like hey box number whatever and then here's my name here's my id and they're like are you are you the spiffing brit and i'm like oh [ __ ] oh outside of the yogscast who don't who are also really bad at cs go and then put them onto teams and then spend like a whole bunch of money on it and so would you be interested in playing cs go for like a cash prize in a tournament genuinely i would love to that sounds like a blast oh thank god i was planning on doing it i found one like inviting a whole bunch of weird youtubers like um i don't know if you do you know schlatt and call me carson and those kind of people i know of carson i don't know the other person so jay schlatt is like one of carson's good friends very similar sized content creator and for some reason all of those content creators who did like the s p minecraft stuff are also all really into following competitive counter-strike but they're not good at counter-strike they just like following it live at the esports events so i think it would just be great to have an entire team of like snp minecraft youtubers playing cs go really badly against like i don't know a team of education science youtubers playing csgo really badly that would be great oh so that's that's my dream for 2021 that i'm gonna make happen it sounds like a great resolution i'm the what inspired you to do like film review stuff is it something you've always wanted to do because of course you're coming from the background of having a very you well not niche but a unique audience of people who enjoy retro games and games that they haven't played for decades because they don't run on moderate modern operating systems and you almost bring them back to life in lovely nostalgia form and this is old but really bad yet good films so there you go you get violent reviews of movies so there's me just stabbing vhs tapes well i've collected vhs tapes i collected them i've got around three thousand so they're all gonna they're all getting the wow the treatment now three thousand yeah there's a room full of them jesus christ booth that is amazing and i l i really like film i can remember no films got really star wars one not one no star wars the last star wars i haven't seen the last three i've already watched the first three star wars you've only watched the have you not even seen the prequels i watched one of the prequels and then i was like well this is terrible what do you mean but but then i walked in on my mom watching the phantom menace with the cat and i just backed out i was like well this sums it up doesn't it that my mom says chunky likes watching star wars chonky likes watching the senate political scenes and star wars the phantom menace she plans for natural trilogy the second one basically steps completely off to the side kind of kills everything that was being hinted at being like a long-running idea for the trilogy and just kills it off like literally the big bad villain they'd set up for film one murdered in film two so you can't bring it back for film free so film free they have a new probably got a thing well star wars right and that's the problem they brought necromancy into star wars for film free to try and write themselves out this corner i was just joking and the issue is you add necromancy and raising the dead into star wars suddenly it's like well why didn't they just do that for all of the past six films whenever someone this is died sad i kind of want to watch it now though just like maybe maybe like half asleep so i can fill in everything honestly there are films that you could watch with full consciousness and you wouldn't be able to fill everything in because it is just a constant like we need to get as much action flashing lights side plots we need it all on screen now and as much as possible and it is so it's for kids it is for kids kids love it it doesn't the final film doesn't even have a coherent plot line like the villains the villain's plan is you have to kill me um well no you have to kill me to stop me but if you kill me i win and then they end up killing him but he doesn't win and they don't explain why and it just doesn't work yeah it's a bad film i could make something up for myself really maybe i'll just read the plot on wikipedia and say ifs in it oh definitely no yeah the original 1970s star wars all the way that was fantastic that was lovely like that was yeah it was groundbreaking really like that was groundbreaking and innovating and then empire strikes back or ps4 that section that was a sequel remember was unique yes it was and like those three they got the excitement going for like space movies again that was like here you could that's this is accessible for you guys now you can you can have it all and then everyone tried to replicate and it just didn't work not quite never and then star wars tried to replicate itself and it didn't work it didn't work looking at seeing how many people we can put on a gta 5 server together we're looking at how many people we can put on a minecraft server together we've done some vague testing and we think it's entirely possible to have 7 000 players on a minecraft server which would break a world record and i think would be quite fun um it just requires a huge amount of work and effort and me actually paying my um my server tech people because currently my server tech people is one person and then over the course of the last few months the server tech team has tripled in size from one person to three people and now with free people we're going to be able to do things that we've never managed before in terms of breaking new grounds and servers like for example having more people on factory factory than ever before actually modifying games so that we can optimize them in crazy levels like making a gta 5 server where the players outnumber the npcs or um i think one that i've been looking at recently is the game outwood which is like a almost a dungeons and dragons rpg game which is really fun but really difficult it's designed for two people we might be able to modify it so that we could have hundreds of people playing this game that is balanced for only two people which i think would be great fun so who knows who knows that's the kind of thing i want to break the internet with it'll be fun what if next year i created a youtube channel and never put any youtube content up and became the most followed non-youtuber being the most followed non-youtuber is a challenge because you have to be people you have to be people like will smith and smith has been on youtube rewind that counts no but he has a youtube channel that has millions of subscribers and he's not a youtuber he doesn't make youtube content has he ever posted a video i don't think he has but rather a corporate body that represents him has so who knows custom ultima online server with spiffer's lord of britain it has come from nothing in the year of 2020. is there a history behind it um well i started this channel then last december the 11th i believe um but i had a channel i've been kicking around on youtube for about four or five years beforehand and then you just made a new channel it just exploded yeah well i i felt like i was just beating my head against the wall i thought okay well like i'd know more about youtube than this i should really take a gamble and and i did i started that channel i got a vr headset which i've been wanting to do for a long time did that second video third video and it got traction and then just yeah i started rolling from there yeah it's like your full video adding lightsabers to blade and sorcery and bam that's insane i've it is yeah it is insane that there are content creators that can literally come from basically nothing but in your case you had a huge amount of like experience on youtube as probably editing and doing descriptions titles seo and thumbnails and then just go i want to try something new and then completely break grounds is creating some new content it's insane also one thing i do have a very important question my chat has it as well oh my where is your accent from i uh expected that one yeah uh has anyone said jack sparrow yet i get that every day jack sparrow i don't know i'm i mean i was i was raised in the southwest of sends me a video he sends me the project name but also it contains the number of like the actual variation of the edited video that he's given me so that way we know how many videos he's edited for me overall which is terrifying because harry's only been my editor for like a year and a half or maybe two years yeah it'd be two years in march and you've done so many videos well you mentioned spoiler being the next one that'll be number 198. 1998 yes oh my god how many days off have you had because i've only had about four or five days off this year from actually working yeah yeah it would be about that yeah sleeping yeah yeah it you can't call it a sleeping pattern if it doesn't have a pattern yeah so it's really really regressive really we just stop and then start again that's about it yeah oh my god yeah yeah it's um it's insane the amount of work that we put into this channel and it's honestly like there are times when i'm like okay we need to slow down the uploads or we need to change stuff up but i i can't really expand this business without losing the element of of it kind of so yeah we we have to remain spiff we have to remain um like um unique and i can't have multiple editors because that just wouldn't work i can't produce enough content for multiple editors we each take a word what if we each take away oh my god we could like half the work that goes into a video at least if we all do exactly one third of the work after each other yes this would be great um we could we could have someone just dedicated to finding stock images oh wow because because i mentioned this in chat you mentioned finding stock images there's a there's a weird byproduct of searching for stock images and it's that your google search results are just completely gone yeah so for the last video i had a search for woman crying on bed oh no and yeah my google ads are just all over the place tonight do you need couples counselling you've searched a woman crying on bed 400 times yeah so i've i've started like editing in incognito windows now to try and save my ad serves on google i'm i'm very similar when it comes to getting very upset when my search results get like messed up because the worst thing is uh it's mango okay my fiance whenever she naturally she streams and then she eventually arrives in bed at like 2 a.m or 4 a.m and she'll her phone will have run out of charge hours ago but she never charges her own phone so what she does is she takes one of my phones because i have two phones because you know business and burner um and then she takes one of those phones and she watches what the videos on youtube she wants to watch and then that means my search results and recommended videos are a horrific mess between like video game reviews interspersed by like makeup tutorials and snake discovery videos and that is it and it is a mess but oh well oh well yeah we have the same thing um whenever we leave the house and have to leave we have two dogs whenever we have to leave them on their own usually what we'll do is put on videos like youtube videos on the tv just for background noise yeah and when you come back then it's just nothing but like weird recommendations for whatever the algorithm decided to serve up during your tesco trip your dogs have now watched 47 hours worth of among us yeah they're apparently the dogs are really into like retro sewing and things like that and like old 1910s fashion apparently the dogs are really into that these days i'm glad i'm glad yeah i hope that we haven't accidentally just like trained your dogs so that in the future they become more intelligent than we are because they've absorbed so much knowledge this is out there they're they're now products of the of the youtube algorithm oh no i know most kids nowadays to be honest yeah yeah basically most parenting the ultimate pairing parenting strategy of 2020 put your kid in front of youtube and pray that the algorithm show like shows them something vaguely educational if you're a child and you started watching my channel because your parent put you down one day and said find something educational and you found me i'm sorry i've ruined you uh but welcome to knowing how to break video games well they i also added in the loving room so they they constantly hear uh your voice being edited all day so yeah um i think i think the dogs actually recognize your voice now does the 500 retakes of me stumbling over difficult to pronounce words yeah the few hundred buddies know whenever i put your voice on the dogs you're like okay i'll just go and lie down and just hear what's what's what's happening today oh god how's um seeing is the spore videos the next one out how's the sport video coming along oh yeah i heard about that it was like yeah tomorrow the spore video instantly starts editing again watching the live stream um yeah it's good uh the current cut is like 40 minutes but that's usually what happens with the first cut and then i i sit yeah i usually just yeah we usually put the kettle on then and start like breaking it down and then we end up with a nice distilled exploit by the end of it um i mean these are these are pretty easy there's a kind of a formula that i can follow in or at least a rough formula but there's one that has really just been all over the place you mentioned that you were going to do a uh or like you'd mentioned that you had like the cyberpunk streams and that yeah there was all these problems you know you were saying that obs doesn't work with cyberpunk yep you know that whenever you use streamlabs as well it's weird yeah yeah but the thing is this is how i bought cyberpunk is whenever you send me the the videos the videos are bugged and i have to re-encode them because because the audio starts going like all out of sync and stuff and that's what i'm saying it's such a bugged game it even produces cyberpunk is such a pain to record because i can't record with obs i have to record it with shadowplay and then even break shadowplay it is such an unoptimized mess because every other game generally is fine the only other game i think i've had recording problems with sport which is if i use game capture for spore it for some reason loads the textures of the game on top of the display capture kind of software so i'm seeing the game footage but the the the actual recording software is picking up the background like graphical loading stuff of like um the t-posed laid-out sprite of like a spore creature which is just a cursed to look at um but yeah how how have you got to the well have you seen the section where crash bandicoot [ __ ] appears despite the fact that i i checked my spore files and i can't find crash bandicoot in them and there's just a giant 500-foot crash bandicoot that appears in the video i instantly started grabbing screenshots for the thumbnail because it was too good it is [ __ ] terrifying yeah there's just all these weird creatures just popping up out of nowhere and i'm just kind of sitting thinking like okay that was a good take okay what's this what sonic what the what's going on there's a 70-foot sanic and it's it's eating crash bandicoot's babies what the hell is going on here yeah oh well you're desperately trying not to evolve oh my god yeah but not evolving was horrible but also quite fun yeah it'll make for a fun video well i'm looking forward then it should be it'll it well it'll be ready for tomorrow oh yeah and yeah i i can't wait for all the other stuff that we're going to have to get up to up to next year do a video with outtakes you don't want to see the outtakes video i think um there was one time where i for some reason it was the outer world video where i i gave the google drive link to the raw footage to um to like some of my mods on discord and they watch the raw footage of the outer worlds video and there's a segment where i'm trying to get the character up onto the roof of a building so that i can do like a little panoramic exposition moment and um as part of it they basically had to watch the raw uncut 2020 like 20-minute footage of me trying to b-hop backwards against a wall repeatedly and failing to try and climb on top of the building and the outtakes aren't good they're mind infuriating it's me slowly pulling my hair out trying to break the physics of games to get into nice positions for uh meaningful monologues i think oh god yeah you get to watch all of that yeah it's good fun yeah i uh i really do get through a lot of cups of tea watching watching you place uh rihanna keep some of the perfect spots to get the camera to pan around probably about one hour of raw footage of me standing in spots of skyrim and then waiting for the auto spinning cam to take off and the issue is when it starts spinning you have to do the entire cut in one take kind of my audio because if um if i don't nail the audio perfectly then there's kind of quite a harsh cut in the edit where the camera jumps almost around the side of rihanna so it's um yeah it's one of those segments where i'm continuously redoing my audio over and over again so i can get it perfect in one take yeah which of course i never do um but oh well that always turns out okay in the end it turns out okay in the end that's what matches yeah that's yeah i know it's crazy posts as well that's um i mean
