Helldivers 2 - how to permanently stay in first-person mode

hello everyone welcome on board the herald of Eternity I chose this name for the ship because I have some news on how to enter the first person mode and stay there permanently hence the eternity I've seen a lot of videos and posts about people showing their experience of accidentally having this bug and glitch where their character is now in first person and it's sort of locked there I wasn't hunting for this thing specifically I was exploring some methods of Animation cancelling in the game and what I found out was a consistent method of how to glitch the camera into thinking that you're in first person and hold that camera view despite you being actually in third person so again before I get into the glitch a description of how and why this works to the best of my knowledge so from what I know this game only has two different view types first person and third person when you're in first person you're able to still shoot your gun reload it dive walk around but but beyond that you're pretty much locked from every other action for you to access those you need to be third person again this glitch is basically going to trick the game then thinking you're back in third person while still preserving your first person view so to make this glitch work it will evolve this quick menu now this menu is how you're able to drop your items and if I remember correctly it is holding the X key on PC by default so it is through this menu that you are able to drop things such as your support weapon your backpack certain objectives like the sssd drive and the your sample container and the reason I bringing up this menu is because if you are aiming in first person and access this menu even while you're in first person it will immediately yank you out of your first- person view and take you back to third person as you can see from this footage every time I'm in first person and press this menu it will immediately take me out and I think it is the fastest way to get out of first person so that's my what I believe to be the proper context for this glitch and I'm going to show some footage of me doing it and then we're going to break it down together so here it is so first things first you're going to need support weapon and it could be any support weapon you just need something to fill that slot because you're going to end up dropping it and I've tried this with the other dropable items such as the backpack and the sample container but it's a support weapon specifically because your character can never be without something in your hand so the moment you drop your support weapon you're going to switch to immediately the the weapon you had before it which we're trying to make it your primary weapon and start with having your primary weapon out then switch to your support weapon and then while holding your support weapon use the menu to drop it and as you drop it you will immediately switch back to your primary automatically then you need to immediately aim and not aim just in third person but aim down your sides so the moment you ads and the screen shows you're adsing hold the button or key you have ma to open that droppable menu speed's actually really important here so I like to have the option on my gameplay setting remember my gun aiming preference so that I can have my primary weapon already preset to ads when I aim with it if Done Right meaning you've ads and you're in that ads screen and you hold the key or button to open that menu where you can drop items if you see both present at the same time while you're still adsing you've done it right so far now the last part here is to Simply move the droppable menu screen because if you exit right here both the menu and your ads you will just simply go back to third person moving your cursor or whatever button you use to navigate this on PS5 will show the game that you are now in third person or so with things and after you've moved it a bit you can let go of the button where in which you aim and you've pretty much done it you are now in first person camera wise the game will think that you're in third person meaning you can still do everything you can do in third person while still holding your first person perspective something to note here is that larger Primary Weapons will take longer to ads which I think is actually a lot helpful if you're wanting to nail down the timing if you use something very small and lightweight like an SMG Knight or the defender SMG you're going to have to ads and open the menu almost instantly again the timing is to drop your support weapon you'll be automatically switching to your primary cuz we want it to to be the last thing we held before switching to a support weapon you're going to ads and the moment you ads so not before the moment right after you're going to open that dropable menu and if you done it right both should be appearing at the same time move the cursor or or whatever analog stick you use to navigate that menu just to confirm that you're third person now and then you can exit both aside from just testing the consistency of this glitch I've also spent some time exploring some interactions so you can kind of expect of what to come by the way there is still some restrictions to this in which if you perform certain actions it will take you back into third person some of them are really heartbreaking like using grenades or using your strategems and I know I wish I could still use my strategy in this view but anytime I hold the button or use the button to open my input UI it's going to immediately yank me out and put me back into third person if you ever find out how to do this glitch and keep the camera perspective while using your strategy please let me know holding things such as the explosive canisters and what I think also maybe the artillery shells could reset this View and dying of course will also reset this view when you respawn but another easy quick way to reset this view is to aim in third person go to first person and then back to third person when you do the switching of your aiming the screen won't change cuz but the game will recognize that you are not switching in and out and it will resolve itself when you switch back from first back to third as cool as it is I mentioned the methods to reset the camera because since this whole first person thing is a glitch and not an intended feature there might be some weird awkward camera angles you experience and if you want to correct it so you don't get a headache or experien any nausea you want to reset it and then try again but now you're in first person so let's experience all the things you can do while in first person you can still aim with your weapon because again the game thinks you're in third person so you can still aim with your weapons just don't go into first person but if you're aiming third person you'll still be able to see a retical you can melee you can stem you can dive you can chat you can use your emojis you can emote you can hug you can use your map you can collect samples you can equip backpacks and use them such as the jump pack or the ballistic shield you can even carry a spear backpack or any other backpack that has team reloading and reload your teammate but again you can't use your grenades you can use your strategems and for some reason at certain times vating will reset the view I mentioned earlier how sometimes the camera can get really wonky some of which that I experienced are in certain situations and when using certain strategems the most exciting thing I wanted to test out was the pilot Exo Suit really get a Titan fault like Vibe with this but the moment you enter it it will just take you out of your perspective and put you over the map and not you specifically just your camera you're still technically in the pilot suit you can still move and shoot but your camera will almost be very far away from you the same with the heavy machine gun imp placement and same if you were ever to get set into a ragd doll State at this moment your camera can take a really awkward turn there's a chance that it can take you God knows where but there's also chance it can give you a really cool camera view as you can see here I happened to ragd doll and have this view where it's really directly over my head it almost looks like hell di the first hell divers and if the camera gets really awkward where you you can't really know where you are or anything you can perform one of the methods I mentioned earlier to reset your camera and then maybe try to glitch again also entering the Pelican is the absolute nauseating experience ever your camera will shake in circles and I recommend just switching out and just resetting your view for entering the extraction Pelican as much as I would love to have a carry over into the Super Destroyer I tested it and it will not work that's basically it though it's a very quick video compared to my other stuff but this is a super cool glitch I've seen so many people on YouTube and so many people on Reddit um finding this glitch by accident posting your experience but no one as I've known have been able to pinpoint how to do it consistently and I think this is a very Surefire method of how to do it if you found it glitch super cool or super helpful I definitely feel it's a nice fresh Taste of playing the game and a hole in you light the camera looks awesome awesome it feels cinematic the world looks beautiful the Mayhem and the gore is just so much more immersive and I would love
