Helldivers 2 - Flamethrower & Laser Cannon For Solo Players, Is It Good Now? (High Difficulty Tips)

today hell divers 2 released a major update that touched upon a couple of balancing issues such as nerfing a couple of outperforming support weapons and the breaker shotgun as well as buffing a couple of underperforming support weapons such as the flamethrower and the laser cannon having ranked these two as the two worst support weapons in the game in a previous video it was time to revisit them after these Buffs to see if there are now a viable choice for solo players to use them out there in their Adventures so firstly I tested out the laser cannon in a couple of solo games on the highest difficulty see how it was performing now and it was immediately clear that this weapon was definitely a lot stronger before the update this weapon was not only the weakest support weapon in the game but it was the weakest by far now the laser cannons actually able to do quite a decent amount of damage when focusing down a single Target but sadly I don't think the laser cannon will ever be a viable weapon for solo hell divers unless they made it penetrate all sorts of armor for the cannon stands right now is that it's able to penetrate up to medium armor so in the case of terminats those are the hive guards but is unable to damage heavy armor meaning no damage to the face or legs of chargers nor the biot Titan and that's a big issue the laser cannon in itself in my opinion looks like the type of weapon that should be the absolute king of single Target damage in my opinion it should be able to penetrate heavy armor the thing is when you're beaming an enemy with a laser cannon you're essentially having to stand still which by the way is the biggest reason I think it'll never be viable for solo players having to stand still is a hell of a cost it's extremely dangerous against both factions to just be standing still while you're beaming down an enemy on top of that not being able to even deal with the toughest of enemies even though you have to sacrifice your movement to stand still shooting it's like a slap to the face until they make this menacing looking weapon be able to penetrate heavy armor I don't think it will ever be anyone's favorite Choice as it simply gets outperformed by every weapon so far it's a weapon that can only deal with single targets not with swarms and you have to sacrifice your movement for it and it can't even penetrate any armor the ark thrower for example not only does it have infinite ammo but it can deal with swarms you don't have to stand still and it penetrates even the thickest of armors so why would anyone ever pick the laser cannon over any of the other choices I don't even think it's worth using the laser cannon over your primary weapon weapon it's not like it does anything that the primary weapon can't do the laser cannon is clearly stronger now but it is still a very poor pick for both solo players as well as grouped players now the flamethrower on the other hand its buff is without a doubt more than noticeable if you tried the flamethrower before and tried it now you can undoubtedly feel that difference in the damage the flamethrower now is actually able to deal with swarms pretty effectively doing quite a lot of AOE damage and it can now even somewhat deal with chargers taking about a full tank or so of fire to kill a charger I mean you can conserve a lot more ammo if you burn the charger wait a little bit for some dot damage then burn it again and so on but straight up Burning It Down will take nearly a tank or something like that either way it's a completely different weapon and I'll even dare to say it's a viable weapon now for solo play personally I still wouldn't pick it over the other choices on Hell diver difficulty as I do think the other choices such as the arc ER can do a better job at most things but I'd be lying if I didn't say I can definitely recommend a flamethrower now I would recommend flamethrowers in group play as well you just have to be really careful for your teammates but yeah I'm really happy with the buff I still think it should do a little bit more damage to armor targets though not that much so it's not too overpowered but I feel like the flamethrower should be a hell of a good pick against armor targets as you have to expose Yourself by getting really close to the Target and Flame damage has nothing to do with armor so I feel it should be a bit stronger than this however this was still a huge step in the right direction in my opinion I also tested by the way the flamethrower on a biot Titan that was previously damaged by a 500 kilo bomb and I'll tell you I used all four of its tanks and it still wasn't able to bring down the biot Titan I don't know I feel like both of these weapons should be way more armored Target focused but I like the direction they're going anyways overall do I think they have a place in high difficulty for solo players the laser cannon hell no you're still as vulnerable as ever having to stand still beaming down a Target and you're not even able to deal with heavy armor targets weapons that can deal damage to armor targets and allows you to be on the Move will still shine over the cannon by far the flamethrower yes but not at the highest difficulty at the hell diver difficulty you'll easily face more than 20 to 30 Chargers and more than five biot Titans every single game and the flamethrower even though it improved that dealing with these when going up against a bunch of them you may find yourself performing better when using more armored Focus weapons such as the ark thrower or the rail gun however it is still a very improved weapon that could be pulled off at the highest difficulty I just as of right now wouldn't particularly recommend it so that'll be all for
