Gold vs Platinum but Gold has a live coach... who will win?

[Music] what would happen if a gold player went up against a platt player but the gold player would have me a grand champion as a coach giving him live directions and step-by-step instructions on how to beat the platt player you can follow it don't commit though just stay close there you go open that that's why bro these two players will have a 1v1 matchup best of three and i would do everything discord where you can join our community alright so to start this matchup i had to find a gold player and a plot player and what better place to look than the last page of twitch where i could help out some streamers with zero viewers i ended up finding mango vibes for the gold player uh was my once ranked uh gold and then i found morb for the platt player oh my my ones rank is only plot one you don't need uh we don't need we we don't need to look at that thankfully they were both up for the challenge so i got them in my discord and we got started first up i had them play a 1v1 match with no coaching as a control test to see what would happen so how you feeling about this 1v1 you ready uh as ready as i'll ever be i suppose all right it's what i'd like to hear i'm all nervous [Laughter] no pressure no pressure yo what oh it was a good kickoff okay that's fun i didn't even mean it down there i'm not gonna let bro i'm too nervous i'm bad at dribbling bro goddamn okay 3-0 okay my goal is to score at least one of course bro good placement wow come on chungus i believe in you i take it back i don't believe in you anymore she looks bad okay i'm gonna just go for demos at this point i had no boost bro like you doing this there you go nice nice shot night shot oh i've been trying to get better at air dribbling yeah but you got to remember i'm a gold oh you put a don't be sorry man this game ended up being a clear blowout by the platt player beating the gold eight to two which of course was expected but it also meant i really had to step my game up as a coach so with the control test out of the way i kicked morb out of the voice chat and got started coaching this gold player before the actual matchup alright so this is where you're gonna practice for a little bit and then i'm going to try to like coach you on what on what you're doing wrong about it but it's kind of like a free play drill so you're going to hold boost and you're just trying to hit the ball like this okay okay all right but you see what i'm doing i'm holding this but i'm going very wide and then turning into the ball for like a strong yeah so i'm waiting to go wide turning into the ball wide again full boost and then turning wide you want like wide turns yeah a lot of what you're doing is like yeah that right there is what i did yeah like trying to turn into it but a lot of times you'll have boost to make like a wide turn and get a better angle yeah so just try this drill just try hitting it if you can get this down i think it'll be a pretty big see that right there i do that a lot yeah but don't stop you see how you're stopped right here just keep the speed like full speed yeah there you go and then maybe go up for that yep it's all good if you miss just keep going yeah so don't stop you're stopping again yep that's good and then hold it again turn into it that's good that's good yep yep and then keep holding it yeah so now you're starting to get it down now i'm not saying to do this exact type of play in an actual match but it's gonna get you comfortable with like playing as a higher rank you're like faking being a higher rank you know does that make sense it's like how to fake how to pretend to be like a diamond player all right now we're gonna do kind of like the advanced variation a little bit more advanced all right so you're gonna be doing the same thing but you're gonna alternate from like no flip to a flip so right there i didn't flip and now i'm going to flip into it okay and then up here i'm just going to hit it with no flip now i'm going to flip into it okay i'm going to turn back around and i can't really hit it without a flip so i'm just going to let it bounce again so alternate from flip and no flip that's good now you're going no flip i'm gonna wait for the bounce on that yep that's good that's perfect so now you're flipping into this one that's perfect okay okay i love it this is huge progress from before there's also a lot more power behind it when i do watch right exactly dude it's like i'm watching a different player now this is crazy bro it's a completely different place that what i was doing so that i'm sure you've heard of it is like shadow defending have you ever not heard of it at all oh you haven't no oh okay so in essence this is shadow defending it's like i'm following you okay so so just following me okay right i'm following you but like a little bit ahead of you right yeah so practice it here yep yep you're following my movements and i missed the ball so this is how i would defend you it's like i'm just following you you know and you like yeah and then that leaves me with a pretty easy save after so i'm going to pretend to be morb right here and then you just try to try to defend all right so this is going to be more it's going to look scary right because he's going to be doing his little plat thing oh he didn't even know i was going up on the wall but he's going to mess up by himself so usually i would come up and then yep all right so that's good that's the concept is good all right let's see it now that was good so with everything on the line mango vibes representing the entire gold community of rocket league and me defending my coaching abilities we got this match-up started i was kind of scared to see what he taught you to be honest because it's got to be something super effective no no no no you can remember your training all right bro i'll try there we go kickoff goal bro king i swear to god kick off god nobody beats this guy all right remember the shadow defense all right this is it open you can just take this good try remember the shadow trying to shadow him here now you can do your thing remember the shadow shadow all right nice oh no that's not that's okay it's okay it's okay yeah okay okay there we go another kickoff nice it's just the kickoffs but as long as you can get these and you do the shadow defense he's not going to score as much so you could actually like take the w i mean i've already saved two that would have gone in right yeah yeah that's fine remember big turns yo don't play from under don't play from under go for the turns oh no he got it okay keep the ball cam on though so you can see yeah that's my bad you turned it off i'm gonna turn it off yeah you can't really see what's going on if you had it on you could have interviewed should have turned in much earlier but it was good though and then shadow here see that's oh yeah it's the there's the slowing down i don't even know why i slow down dude i don't think it's ever worked out for me i'll try to remind you how about that all right nice your shadow here stay close a little bit don't slow down just keep keep the same pace all right that's good this is good defense it's beautiful man oh should have boosted down that was incredible defense right there i slowed down a bit but yeah just go back shouldn't it turn so wide oh yeah it was a bit too wide that was kind of an awkward angle though yeah yep quick shot quick shot here oh so right on that turn you need to take that shot like as fast as you can okay all righty up no bro close okay but i'm telling you man the dc is a lot better now yeah i'm noticing a lot more he's not going for stuff that he usually would i'm saving stuff that i usually wouldn't yeah you can go for this you can go oh those are weird all right go back right away go back fast fast fast fast there you go nice and then challenge right here yep go for the shot right away i'm terribly shooting from that angle okay go go go go go go go that's a nice flick damn i committed game two went to the plot player and it was now tied one to one mango vibes really started to fall back into his gold ways this game so we took a quick half time break so i could give him a few pointers alright so the last or this game i saw a lot of this like when when he was dribbling you were defending trying to play from under still yeah doing things like this when remember the drill is to get you to be comfortable with turning around to get better angles to shots yeah all right i'm gonna go in let's practice shadow defense real quick all right so say hold up hold up yeah same all the way over here i would like drive up and then turn and shadow or okay right yeah and something i could probably do is like you're having trouble knowing like when to challenge while shadow defending so i could maybe like give you a hint like okay challenge now okay nice all right i think you're ready get your head in the game we got this this is the let's do this all right how bad do you want this really bad bro let me let me hear it louder how bad do you want this i can't yell you yell that i want it bad though your whole life has been leading up to this moment so just you're saying i'ma let everybody down if i don't win this every person in your life you're gonna look down okay good to know so no pressure is what i'm saying okay it was now time for game three the tiebreaker this game would decide the fate of this video and if i could ever show my face again as a rocket league coach mega chungus is in the zone currently stuck to the desk this is it's fine uh if you went in any earlier that would have been good for him if the ball rolls up like that just do the same thing as last time you tap down and then boomer contain don't play from under yeah going forward that's not always good shot good try though that was good patience right there not freaking out nice nice all right just smack no commit yup nice nice let's go so this is this is something good you're doing is not committing to shots and just taps small taps like that turn again turn go all the way back for boost oh just barely dancing oh no no no no that's so unfortunate you're like a half second off from the morning good turn again i'm so bad at flicks that it literally takes him out come on we'll count it that was a much better game though i'm not gonna lie yeah that was a lot better that was great though honestly i'm yeah i can't be mad at that one even if i lost them that's a win in my book yo what'd you think more man that was not bad actually i i dude i was rooting for me from the sidelines like obviously i wanted to win it but like man well good job morb i mean you did a great job you defended all rockets platinum as well thanks for the game and uh yeah and chungus you did a great job too honestly huge huge improvement like that you were a different player you know what i'll take that as a win mango vibes did an amazing job and actually kept up with the plot player for most of the games he was a completely different player and really surprised me with some of the plays he made teaching him shadow defense was probably the most important technique and he actually saved a ton of shots just by doing this overall i was very impressed with mango vibes and also morb did a great job defending his plat rank and not letting a gold beat him
