Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary | Clonmacnoise

hello everyone I'm father Reid and thank you for joining me to pray the Holy Rosary and meditate on the Glorious Mysteries we're here in the oratory at clonmacnoise just up from the Shannon River this place has been a site of pilgrimage for over 1,500 years founded by Saint Kiernan in 548 it was first a monastery and then later a center for spirituality and craftsmanship and learning we stand here today like pilgrims have for some 1,500 years one of those pilgrims was a man by the name of Carol vojta wa Pope Saint John Paul the second prayed here on the 30th of September 1979 and the next day celebrated Mass in Boston Massachusetts and then continued his pilgrimage throughout the United States we come here today as pilgrims to pray together in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit amen I believe in God the Father Almighty Creator of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord who was conceived by the Holy Spirit born of the Virgin Mary he suffered under Pontius Pilate was crucified died and was buried he descended into hell the third day he rose again from the dead he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father from there he shall come to judge the living in the dead I believe in the Holy Spirit the Holy Catholic Church the communion of saints the resurrection of the body the forgiveness of sins and life everlasting world without end amen the first glorious mystery the resurrection of Jesus from the grave Jesus went to Emmaus that first day of the week after he rose from the dead and they are walking with three of his disciples he recounted for them the wisdom of the scriptures and then in the breaking of the bread their eyes were opened and they recognized him whereupon he vanished from their sight he was into heaven especially those who are in most need of thy mercy the second glorious mystery the Ascension of Jesus into heaven Jesus gave His apostles his final blessing and then he raised his hands and was taken up into heaven before their sight and they stood there in utter amazement and what had just happened to them and at all that they had learned and seeing and experienced the good news that they had heard from the Lord Himself Jesus did not leave them abandon them nor has he abandoned us he remains with us according to his promise all days until the end of the age in his divinity and in his humanity he is with us particularly when we gather to celebrate the Eucharist as countless many pilgrims have in this oratory here at cloner McEvoy's he longs for us to know his deep and real presence with us always and so we meditate on this mystery of the Ascension as we say our Father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven especially those who are in most need of thy mercy the third glorious mystery the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Mary and the Apostles it was in the upper room on that first Pentecost that the Holy Spirit of God came upon the apostles very powerfully animating them to fearlessly proclaim the good news that Jesus Christ is risen that Jesus Christ is Lord the same Holy Spirit has animated the church ever since including the many pilgrims who have come here for some 1500 years and those who have found in this place clonmacnoise a center for for learning and spirituality and creativity the Holy Spirit so too animates us to who truly live and practice our faith and inspires us to pray as we do today our Father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on enjoying the redemption that he won for all of us of being with him in heaven literally in body and soul and so she is at this very moment while we pray so very close to her son so that we can fly to intercedes for us who prays for us our great intercessor is the queen of heaven and earth she was crowned not with a physical crown but rather with the crown of the fullness of life and she as our mother the mother of the church wants us to share the fullness of life as well the life that her son has won for us by his death and resurrection Mary is the Queen of the Universe the queen of this world the queen of Ireland's the queen of our lives and so we pray our Father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven give us this day our Virgin Mary pray for us o Holy Mother of God that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ let us pray O God whose only begotten Son by whose life death and resurrection has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life grant we beseech thee that by meditating on these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary we may both imitate what they contain and obtain what they promised through the same Christ our Lord amen may the divine assistance remain always with us may the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace amen loving mother hear our
