200-year-old Madison Seminary
in Madison, Ohio. Two hundred and twenty
confirmed deaths here. Makes your skin crawl. ...where an entrepreneur catering
to ghost-hunting tourists has suddenly found himself
in over his head. We were walking out
of this room and an arm came out
and hit them in the neck. Clotheslined him? Clotheslined him. Our team is put
to the test... Please, let Richel be. ...as we face what could be our most challenging
haunting yet. What the hell
was that, dude? Richel and Brandon
fall mysteriously ill... I just don't
feel good, man. ...and Brian is pushed
to the edge. Are you alright? [crying] No. [ Suspenseful chord strikes ] [<i> Voice exhales</i> ] [ Buzzer, lock clicks ] -Hey. What's up, dude?
-Hey, man. Come on in. Man, sit down.
-Ah! -Alright. So.
-What's up? Guy I know,
his name's Adam, reaches out to me,
sends me a video message of a location that he purchased
several years ago. [ Ominous chord strikes ] It's called
Madison Seminary and he started doing
these ghost tours and allowing people
coming in, investigate. When we first started
"Ghost Hunters," we had no idea
the impact it would make. ♪ As a result,
we've seen an increase in the number of locations that will allow
amateur investigators in to try to experience what
they've seen on TV firsthand. But, now, he's havin'
some problems there. ♪ I'm glad that there are
a lotta people who are excited
about the paranormal, but, sometimes they get
ahead of themselves. They confuse ghost hunting
and having their own experience with paranormal investigation. This is what he
actually sent me, if you wanna
watch that. Yeah, sure. Hey, Daryl. It's been about
a year since we last talked. <i> We are still running
our public ghost tours,</i> <i> but in the past
couple of months,</i> the activity
has changed out here at Madison Seminary
dramatically. [ Sinister chord strikes ] It feels aggressive, at times.
It feels negative. Honestly, I'm finding
a hard time even describing it. On top of all of this,
I've even noticed a change in my volunteers' behaviors
and their attitudes, even their emotional well-being, <i> and some visitors have even
been physically assaulted.</i> I've been here for years.
This place was easy. You've been here with me.
You know that. <i> Why now?
Why, in the last 3 months,</i> <i> is this change happening?</i> <i> You know how much
this building means to me</i> <i> and I wanna keep
its doors open,</i> but I don't want it
to be dangerous and, whatever we can do
to fix this, that's what I'm lookin' for. So, now, it sounds like
you've been here before, yeah? Yeah, the place
is pretty active. I've investigated there
several times, even before he owned
the building, and it seems like things
have changed. Right. I mean, I know
this wasn't in our plans, but people might be
getting hurt,
-Right. so I think we need to get
there right away. -Yeah, absolutely.
-Alright. Let's do it. Alright, man. We're heading out. Excuse me! Look at this guy.
He ain't carrying anything. What's that about?
-I'm holding the door! Adam bought this property
and was opening it to paranormal investigation,
which, to me, is a noble thing. A lotta people wanna
experience this and they don't have a place
to go to do that, but, we have a responsibility to make sure<i> everyone</i>
is safe in that process. Ahh! So, when you get a case
like this, where people are claiming
the activity is getting darker, we have to respond right away
and, by helping Adam, we could help everybody else
who comes through that building. [ Rock outro plays ] [ Suspenseful music plays ] Alright. Cool, so I just started
looking up on Madison Seminary. Turns out that it was
built in 1846. It started as an institute
of higher education and then, it became a home
for Civil War veterans and Civil War veteran family
members, like a lotta widows, <i> you know. Then,</i> Wow. <i> after a while, it became</i> a mental rehabilitative
facility. My interest is
to find out how the mental
facility was run. -Oh, of course, yeah.
-You know? Back in the day,
not all of those necessarily
always treat people the way they should have.
-They didn't know how to treat most
diseases and stuff, so they would do
lobotomies. They would do all sorts
of crazy things. Seems like some
of the ghost tours and the paranormal
investigative tours that people do there are
really centered on the fact that it was
a mental institution. -Right.
-Alright. It looks like that's it, huh? Is that it, Daryl?
-Oh, wow-ow.
-Yep, that's it. ♪ Grant:<i>
The reason we're rushing
into this one, guys,</i> <i> is because there are reports</i> <i> of people getting</i> hurt<i>
at this location.</i> Daryl, Kristen, and I
will go on the tour. The rest of you guys,
get the gear out <i> and then interview
the volunteers</i> <i> to see if you
can find out more</i> <i> about how this place
has changed.</i> Roger dodger. [ Eerie music plays ] [ Ominous chord strikes ] [ Suspenseful music climbs ] [ Suspenseful chord strikes ] ♪ Daryl: Nice office, man.
-Grant: What a place!
-Richel: Yeah. So, clearly, this building
has a lotta history to it. Oh, it absolutely has
a rich history. It's 170 years' worth of it. Over all this time,
there were multiple names given to the facility,
but, when it was a school, when it started in 1847, a lot of those boys would go on
to be priests, clergymen, so the name
Madison Seminary stuck. But it doesn't become really
fascinating with the history until like the 1960s. The Ohio Department of Health
took the building over and used it as a facility
for mentally disabled women and former inmates from the
Ohio Women's Reformatory. It eventually closed
and was used by the city for various things. In 1993, it would be
purchased by a nursery who literally used it
for storage. -Okay.
-Mm-hmm.
-And that's<i> all</i> that it was used for,
until I came along in 2016. I got it.
No one wanted to help me. No one wanted to talk about it. Really? If anything,
this was "the nuthouse." What are the rumors
of the conditions here and what possibly happened to the women
that were staying here? So with a lot of the history, we've had
to dig it up ourselves and we could've went farther,
but we stopped after over roughly
220 confirmed deaths here. I have no doubt
there was abuse here. -All women?
-All women. Daryl: Yeah.
-Wow.
-Now, I have a love for history and, given,
I know the place is haunted, so I wanted to share this
as an attraction with everybody. That was the goal
and I have assembled a really good crew that keep
the tours running, you know? They run any events we do. And they do it for the
love of the place? -The love of the place.
-Yeah.
-Wow. -It's all volunteer-based.
-Strictly volunteer.
-Oh. ♪ And, in the last
three months, at<i> least,</i> I've seen a change
in their personalities, where people that are always
happy and fun-loving are turning into
closed-off individuals. What has kinda changed
in the past four months, that you can think of? I can't. That's
the hard part about it, is I can't figure out exactly
what it is that's going on. -Yeah?
-Because, literally, I would walk these halls,
opening the building, not even be afraid,
and, now, there's times I can't even make it
past these stairs. [<i> Voice exhales</i> ] You just feel it.
It's like a heaviness, a fear, -Yeah.
-and I used to never
have the fear. ♪ With the hauntings,
there's a lot of alleged things going on in this property.
-Well, I'll tell you what. Why don't we take a look
at some of these hot spots, so we know exactly, you know,
where to direct our efforts? -Yeah.
-Yeah? You wanna show us around a little bit?
-Let's do it, brother. Thank you.
[ Suspenseful chord strikes ] ♪ Alright.
So where are we now? This is ground zero, when it
comes to paranormal claims. We are standing in the asylum. [ Suspenseful chord strikes ] ♪ This is where some of the most
mentally ill patients would've been kept. The claims range
from disembodied voices, shadows, footsteps. These wheelchairs? Have been seen,
by guests, moving. Wow. ♪ [ Suspenseful chord strikes ] Recently, just down
these hallways here, the first physical
assault happened. And I was here.
I was here when this happened. We were giving one tour and we
were walking out of this room and it was two people back. There was an individual,
said that an arm, it felt like an arm came out
and hit them in the neck. -Clotheslined him?
-Clotheslined him. If this was someone acting, it was some of the best
acting I've ever seen. -Interesting.
-Yeah. ♪ If you look on the floor
here, these marks here, they really bother me. So you think these
marks on the floor are from somebody
being tied to a bed or chained to a bed
and being abused? And fighting it? Fighting it and, yeah. Daryl: Okay. Kristen: Yuck. Who knows the fights that
happened in this room, you know? That stuff's gotta be
stained on the walls. Makes your skin crawl. Yeah. ♪ Right here, this room, it's designed differently
than the others. I added the table
and things like this, but, I did that
because I do believe this might've been
an operating room. Okay. These women were
treated subhumanly. ♪ [ Suspenseful
chord strikes ] [ Suspenseful chord strikes ] ♪ This is the oldest structure,
1847, right here. [ Suspenseful chord strikes ]
At the turn of the century, any woman that was displaced
from the Civil War, if your husband died,
or brother, any kinda caretaker,
you were put here. And this is the place where
we've had the report of a 7'0" figure traveling
from room to room, back and forth. [ Suspenseful chord strikes ] ♪ [ Suspenseful chord strikes ] Grant:
What is this? This is the basement. Now, when it comes
to the activity, this is where there's
all the reports of girls having their hairs pulled,
butts touched, everything. My mind, if I'm trying
to figure this out, would say some boiler room
operator, you know? He's just a maintenance worker,
never gets to see the ladies. Or the Sun. [ Laughter ]
Or the Sun. This is it. Or this is where,
maybe, women were brought
against their will. -It is possible.
-These are the dark places where nobody goes. [ Sinister music plays ] Grant:
Wow, this is, uh -- Kristen: Yeah.
-Kimmell: It's a lot to take in. [ Suspenseful music plays ] ♪ If this fails, what happens,
you know? There is no backup plan. Like I said, this has to work,
whatever it takes. Basically, for all the walls
here to stay standing, it relies on people,
be they living or dead, and that all has to be
synergistic and working -It's cooperation, mm-hmm.
-as a well-oiled machine and, given all the information
and history you gave us, we will do our best
to figure out what's goin' on here
and why things have changed. -Thank you.
-Yeah. [ Upbeat rock plays ] We're often called
into locations to help determine
if it's haunted or not, but, when a location
has documented activity over the course of many years,
our focus shifts. It's like
such a creepy thing. It's not about,
"Is there activity?" It's, "Why is there activity?
Why has it escalated? Why has it grown darker?" Yeah, right now
I'm in the asylum. Not a place you
probably wanna be. But, when a client
starts using terms like aggressive
or angry or dark, you have to put
your guard up... ♪ ...and, no matter
what they say, you have to believe
that they're earnest in what they're experiencing
and what they're feeling. People are claiming to see
this 7'0" shadow figure. Maybe we can capture whatever's going on
down there. So, going into this first night,
I want the team to tackle some of the most important
hot spots right off the bat. Brian and Richel
will head up to the asylum and Brandon and Mustafa
will check out the Civil War building
on the opposite side. Meanwhile,
Daryl, Kristen and I will hang back to avoid
any noise contamination. [ Suspenseful music
intensifies ] <i> Alright, team.
Let's go lights out.</i> ♪ [ Suspenseful chord strikes ] ♪ ♪ Okay. This is Brian
and Richel. We're up on...
the asylum and it is -- It is 11:53. 11:53. I'll tell you
what I wanna do. Right down in here
is where Adam saw somebody come
outta here. -Okay.
-and he got punched in the throat
right here, bang. Adam saw it happen.
-Yeah. So, if you wanna
set up the binaural deal down here
and you can listen. I wanna do EVP
from right here. -Okay.
-You know what I mean? So, Richel and I are using
the binaural microphone. What it is designed to do is
give us that superhuman hearing and, if a noise occurs, we can tell which direction
it's coming from. ♪ So, to any of the ladies
that are up here, how are you treated? ♪ Do you feel like you're gettin'
the care that you need? ♪ I thought I just heard
something over here, like a moan
or something. A moan in this room? [ Suspenseful music climbs ] ♪ Anybody in here with me? [ Suspenseful chord strikes ]? ♪ I can hear walking
behind you. [ Suspenseful chord strikes ]<i>
What are you doin' in here?</i> You can still hear it? No, not now. So, Richel and I just started
an EVP session in the asylum and Richel heard a moan
in the common area. A moan in this room? Yeah. I pursued that sound and, now,
Richel's picking up footsteps other than mine
on the binaural microphone. ♪ Are you used to seein'
men up here? ♪ Are you frightened of me? Are you
walkin' again? No. Where are you hearin'
the walkin'? Down this way, now. [ Suspenseful
chord strikes ] [ Suspenseful chord strikes ]
Okay, so, maybe they're tryin' to go a different
direction from me. You wanna trade?
I mean, you're a man, -Yeah, let's try it.
-so they may not wanna
speak to you. We were hearing footsteps
on the binaural microphone and it seemed like it was trying to get away from us,
essentially. Wherever we were at,
it was at the opposite end. So we figured that, maybe, if<i> I</i>
started asking the questions, whatever was up here
would stop running away. ♪ Are you in here? ♪ There was a loud breath
on this thing, man. Where? In my left ear. <i> Are you in here?</i> [<i> Thudding</i> ] [ Suspenseful chord strikes ]
Okay, where did it sound like it was comin' from? In here. Okay, I'm gonna grab
the stuff. ♪ Ugh! ♪ I don't like this room. [ Eerie music plays ] ♪ I don't feel good
in this room, at all. ♪ You okay? ♪ No. [sobs] Step out of the
room, then. [ Suspenseful music plays ] ♪ Is there a reason that
you seem not to like people in this building? ♪ So, right now,
Brandon and I are on the second floor
of the Civil War building. We have our thermal camera
and we've placed our team camera,
a data logger, and a motion detector
at the end of the hall. We're hoping we can make
some sort of contact with the shadow figure
that's been reported here. We hear that there's
someone that walks up and down this hallway. ♪ Are you walking to visit
people in their rooms? [whispering] Oh, man. It's real quiet,
isn't it? It just feels<i>
super</i> quiet. So, Mustafa and I headed over
to the Civil War building to look into these claims
of this shadow person being seen on the second floor.
[ Snap ] -What was that?
-What the hell was that, dude? Something just got
thrown, dude. -What?
-Alright. Something just got thrown right here, Mustafa.
Bring the data logger. Yeah, okay. [ Beeping ]
Oh, dude, it's goin' off, look. -Yeah.
-Oh [bleep] Is someone here
with us? [ Beeps ]
Lookit. Lookit.
Lookit, guys. I got chills. -To the left, dude.
-Yeah, I feel it. I feel it. Let's go.
Let's cut it off. [ Beeping ] Who's in here with us? I feel like I should
not go in here. [ Suspenseful music climbs ]
Oof! My god, dude. [ Suspenseful chord
strikes ] Unh, now I kinda got
that weird, like... Feeling
in your stomach? Yeah, dude. <i> Really?</i> Yeah.
[ Beep ] There's someone in here
with us right now. [ Suspenseful chord strikes ]
[ Beeping ] Are you tryin' to let
Richel know something? Are you tryin'
to get her attention? ♪ Are you being mistreated? ♪ How you doin' in there? [crying]
I'm not doin' great. So, Richel and I entered
what looked like an operating room
in the asylum. She started feelin'
a heavy presence and it looked like
she started to get ill. So we tried to carry on
with the investigation, but, at that point, when I saw
that she was clearly in pain, the investigation part
stops, for me. Are you gonna be okay? -Yeah.
-It's about gettin' over there and makin' sure
she's good to go and I will do whatever it takes
to take that away from her. If there's somethin' that you're
wantin' to say to Richel, you could say it to me, too. There's a flashing
light in there. [ Clicks ] Like up on this. Where? ♪ It keeps flashing
right there, like in between
those two marks? ♪ [ Clicks ] Was that your stomach?
-Did you hear that? -Was that your stomach?
-That was not my stomach. That wasn't
your stomach?! Yeah. Go back in there. Put the headphones on
and listen to me. I'll stay in here. So, after hearing the moan
in the asylum, we decided to focus
on the operating room again and, this time, we<i> both</i>
felt the heavy presence. [ Exhales ] Pull through, man.
You got it? -Yeah.
-You tell me if you need to get outta here.
We'll get outta here. [ Beeping ] -It's goin' off.
-It is. [ Beeping ] It's goin' off. If you're in this room, <i> please,</i> if you could just
let Richel be, and you can do --
you can tell me what you need. [ Squeaking ]
[ Click-click ] [ Suspenseful chord strikes ]
Did you hear somethin' again? It sounded like
a door shutting. [ Squeaking ] [ Click-click ] Okay, which way? 'Cause I
heard it down that way. I did, too. [hushed]
Man, oh, man. ♪ [ Exhaling ] I'm comin' down the
hallway right now. Phew! [ Suspenseful chord strikes ] Okay, I think you're
runnin' from us. Phew. I'm tellin' you, man,
I have the goose bumps like you can't even believe
and I wanna know... Oh, damn it. Phew. I wanna know: Are you scared
to tell me what's goin' on here because you're afraid that
somethin' worse will happen? Phew! It's super heavy in here. I feel completely
uncomfortable down here. I don't get feelings
like this. I'm not an investigator
that relies on those kinda feelings
and I'm gettin' 'em right now. I've never had 'em before. I got one last
question for you. If you couldn't tell us
on the -- [ Exhales forcefully ] On the -- Are you alright? No! No.
[ Suspenseful chord strikes ] ♪ [ Frustrated sigh ] ♪ Can you tell me who's hurtin' you
or who's mistreatin' you? Just give me a name. It's absolutely terrible to hurt
women or children, or anybody! ♪ [ Exhales forcefully ]
It was very heavy for me and I felt like any person
that would harm women like that, I'm goin' to battle and that's what I felt like
I was headin' towards. So, could ps--
one of the ladies up here, or anybody, just give me
the name of who this guy is. ♪ Please. ♪ I have to go. Watch this. I-I gotta go. [<i> Voice exhaling</i> ] ♪ That place is super
intense up there. From the moment we
got up there, she felt like she had gotten -- I felt sick
a couple times. I'm not gonna go into details
'cause if someone else is goin' up there, I wanna see
if they have the same thing. Okay, so you don't wanna
describe the pain. That's smart.
-The atmosphere was super heavy. I was feelin' bad
for these people upstairs that may have been mistreated.
-Okay. And I was gettin' pissy
about it, at that point, and then I just decided I needed
to get outta there. To ground yourself
for a moment. -So, I had to get out.
-Shake it. Yeah, you weren't
professional anymore. Nope, and I needed
to get out, yeah. That's good.
Good for you, man. Good call, man.
-Daryl: Yeah. -What's up, guys?
-Crazy. -Hey.
-What's up? [ Laughter ]
How'd it go for you guys? Dude, you explain
what happened. I was standin' there,
doin' an interview, and, all of a sudden,
a rock is thrown. Kristen: Oh, geez.
-Grant: Really? -Yeah.
-Wait, from... -From behind --
-...inside? Both: Yeah.
-As soon as that happens, a rush of cold air
hits me and it feels like
it goes through me. -Okay.
-And then, we just got
the sense that we just were not wanted
there, whatsoever. Yeah, been there, man.
It's weird. Once that happened,
my stomach started to hurt. I had to like bend over. I felt so sick. Same exact thing
happened with her. What do you mean? You had
the same exact experience? My back hurt so bad, like
I was having back labor. <i> What?</i> And Brian, I mean, I'm lookin' at you now
and you're shakin'. -Yeah, I know, dude.
-Like this is not -- This is out of character
for you. I mean, wouldn't you
agree, Richel? Totally outta character. Are you alright,
Brian? No! [ Suspenseful chord strikes ] That's the answer. Richel:
It was really hard for me
to see Brian like that. I have<i> never</i> seen him experience
any feelings, of any sort, and, for him to be
that upset about it... I'm gonna talk to Brian
for a second. ...he's still not okay. Like I'm worried
about him right now. Anytime somebody
has something like that, that they've never
experienced before, [ Poignant tune plays ] I like to try to take a minute, okay? -Yeah.
-I'm not trying to draw too much attention to it,
or anything, but, I just wanna make sure
you're alright and -- I mean,
I'm good, I guess. [laughing] I'm waiting
for you in there. You're like, "I'm fine.
I'm fine," and I know you're
not fine and, when you said,
"No!" I was like, "Okay,
now, he's ready." I am not the kinda person
that will try to show any kind of weakness
or anything like that when it's got to do
with any kinda team. I would put myself [crying] before anybody
on the whole squad, in any kinda
harm's way. That's just
the way I am. We know that. And to be
to the point where I couldn't go through
with it, [sniffle] just... eats me alive.
-Alright. When your emotions
took more control, when you were thinkin'
about the horrible things that happened here,
it came to a head and you had
a decision there: to lash out or to not, and you did
what it took to<i> not</i> -[Sniffle]
-and that's the kind of respect the entities
in there deserve. You should be proud. Do you understand
what I'm sayin'? -Mm-hmm.
-They don't need people lashin' out, chewin' them out.
-No. This is not
a weakness moment. This is a moment
of amazing strength. So, it's been a<i> very</i> intense,
emotional night for the team. Thanks, man. Everyone, I think,
just needs a minute to reset, so, we're gonna
call it quits tonight. I got a lotta ideas
on what to research and so I think we'll get some

but think that, that, you know, last night,
we rushed right into this. This is Daryl's friend. We rushed right into it. We heard
what he had to say. <i> No one wanted to help me.</i> <i> No one wanted
to talk about it.</i> <i> If anything,
this was "the nuthouse."</i> <i> This is where some of the most
mentally ill patients</i> <i> would've been kept.</i> <i> We stopped after
over roughly</i> <i> 220 confirmed deaths here.
-Wow.</i> But I can't help but think that
we made a lot of assumptions. I mean, we,
when you think about it, we don't have<i> any</i> proof that anybody was ever
mistreated there. <i> Tell me
who's hurtin' you.</i> Having the right information when you go into
an investigation is paramount. <i>It's absolutely terrible
to hurt women.</i> If we don't have the right
information, it makes our job ten times
harder to get to the truth. <i> Oof!
My god, dude.</i> If I tell you that
the entities are evil, you may run in there and yell
at them and punish them for what they've done
and ultimately frighten them, when they may not have
done anything wrong. <i> I have to go.</i> [ Suspenseful chord strikes ]
So it's key for people who
enter a location to have the proper information,
for their own safety and for the spirits'
well-being as well. [ Suspenseful chord strikes ] On that note,
Mustafa is going to meet with a local historian,
to see if he can learn more about the history
of the seminary. So, we're here because
we're taking a look at the Madison Seminary
and how do people view it? Like what's their
opinion of it? What's their sentiment
towards it? I think most of them
remember that building as the Ohio cottage with
the Women's Relief Corps and that was based
on providing support and services for widows, Army nurses,
and mothers of veterans who served
in the Civil War and the
Spanish-American War and, then, eventually,
it did become home for the
criminally insane and, again,
they tried to help<i> them.</i> So allegedly, you know,
the place has been referred to locally
as "the nuthouse." I don't know if you've ever
come across that or heard that. No. I have never heard
any citizen in this town call it "the nuthouse,"
at least not to me. A number that we even heard
about the property is that there were some
220 documented deaths. The Women's Relief Corps,
which began in<i> 1889,</i> went all the way
through 1962, so it's very likely
that you could easily have, in that amount of time,
200 died in that facility. There's been a lot
of confirmed deaths on the property,
which makes<i> sense</i> because this was a home that
helped families of veterans and it was a nursing home,
essentially, at one point. It was caring for people who needed a little bit
of extra help. Yeah. So, So there's
no documentation of anything, any type of like
mistreatment of -- No. I'm glad to say
that, as far as<i> I</i> know, there's been
no documentation. No, that's wonderful
to hear. I know that there's like
a lot of paranormal groups and a lotta people come
over here who are trying to, seems almost like they're
trying to push a narrative that there were women
that were mistreated here, however, Dianne's been
a resident here for 43 years and she's never<i> heard</i> this place
spoken of in a negative light. Thank you so much.

as a place that helped families, helped the families of veterans, and was basically a valued

was mistreated here, unless something comes
to the surface otherwise, and let's remember
that Adam wants to know why have things changed. So let's also try to focus
on what the entities might think of<i> him</i>
or what's being done here, so we can hopefully
give him an answer. I think we need to get

they get a lot of EVPs and where Brian
and Richel had quite a few
experiences last night. Let's introduce ourselves
real quick. Yeah.

right when we walked in. Yes.
My name is Daryl. This is Kristen. Kristen and I are trying
to be careful and not come off like we're
aggressive or threatening. We just wanna let the entities
know we're here to help. What do you think
about this building? What do you think about
Adam owning it? Does that make you
happy or sad? It's goin' off. ♪ Is that you,
setting the lights off? ♪ Here, I'll back away
from ya. I don't wanna scare ya. Can you do that again, please? You don't have
to be afraid of us. We're not gonna hurt you.
We're only here to talk. Adam brings a lot
of his friends here. ♪ Do you agree with what they
do here when they come here? ♪ I would feel
pretty special, if so many people
wanted to speak with<i> me,</i> but maybe you don't
feel the same way. [ Suspenseful chord strikes ]
What was that? Daryl: Did you see it just now?
-No. That ball of light just shot
across the ceiling when you said
that was goin' off. ♪ It's crazy 'cause I've seen
that up here before, about a year ago. It was over there, though, and I just saw it, just now,
shoot across the ceiling when you said
that was going off. Was that you? ♪ Alright. We've got
Brian and Richel, Civil War building. It is 12:22. So, the goal for tonight is
to make contact without antagonizin' any
of the entities. We just don't wanna have the same negative experience
as we did<i> last</i> night. We did not come here
to bother you or harm you. We just wanna know
who you possibly are and, overall, I wanna know
how you feel about Adam and what he's done
with the place. I'm hearin' voices
from somewhere. I'll look out that window. ♪ There's nobody
out here, Richel. Okay. Why don't we get
off this floor? [ Clicking ] [sigh] Alright. Where do I wanna
put this mic? Hold onto this here. You got it, sir. So, what we have here is
a Ambisonic microphone. It's used a lot in VR. It's gonna give us a 360-degree
listening capability. This asylum area is
really well-known for disembodied voices, so, this is a perfect situation
for a device of this nature. [ Suspenseful music climbs ] [ Suspenseful chord strikes ]
You know, the three of us could be seen as a threat. If we kinda Spread out. spread out a little bit,
we'll cover more ground -Sure.
-and maybe be less of a threat. This is Brandon, Grant,
and Mustafa in the asylum. This is the Ambisonic
microphone, 2:17 am. ♪ My name is Grant. I've worked in facilities
like this. I've helped many, many people
with issues like your own. If there's a problem,
[ Eerie sting plays ] you can share it with us and we'll make sure
that Adam changes it. ♪ I heard a lot
about this place, that a lot of people
were helped here. ♪ Did you feel happy
in this place? Did anyone or anything
make you sad here? A lot of people come
through this space and you don't have to talk
to any of them. You don't have to do
anything they say. We'd love it if you
talked to us, though. ♪ It's just a bathroom. Down here feels
completely different than it did
in the asylum last night. Like I'm calm down here. Isn't this the cutest little
plunger you've ever seen? Brian:
So, tonight's been
pretty quiet. We're trying to be respectful. We're not doin' anything to
provoke or anything like that. ♪ I don't feel
any creepy vibes. Like I'm fine down here. ♪ [ Beep ]
Grant:<i> Alright, guys.</i> <i> I think we've done
all we can here.</i> <i> Let's wrap it up.</i>
[<i> Static crackles</i> ] [ Crickets chirping ] [ Rock plays ] ♪ It's not often we have
an investigation with such drastically
different results from night 1 to night 2
and it's just a reminder of how complex and fragile our influences can be on other
people, be they alive or dead, which only underscores the
importance of being thoughtful and disciplined in our approach
to investigation. ♪ [ Suspenseful chord strikes ] [ Eerie music climbs ] <i>-I can here walking behind you.
-Lookit. Lookit. Lookit, guys.</i> <i> Do you feel like
there's a change?</i> <i> That wasn't your stomach?</i> [ Rock outro plays ] I'm sitting here going
over the audio from night 2 in the asylum. <i> Did you feel happy
in this place?</i> <i> Did you feel happy
in this place?</i> ♪ [ Laughter ] It's unbelievably clear. [ Suspenseful chord strikes ] -Alright. Whaddya got?
-Alright. So, I have somethin'
pretty interesting that I wanna show you,
that I can't explain, that was captured
on the thermal. -Oh. Alright.
-Here we go. ♪ [ Suspenseful
music climbs ] [ Suspenseful chord strikes ] so, we scrambled
everybody together and made sure we came in
and did our best for you. So, I think we may have found
some interesting things about why this place
may have felt like it turned negative
over the past few months. We sent in a couple teams and they had some
pretty wild experiences. The first team,
Brian and Richel, they were up
in the asylum area. [<i> Beeping</i> ] <i> I don't feel good
in this room.</i> Brian:<i>
You okay?</i> <i> No.</i> [<i> sobs</i> ] Richel was starting to feel
a little sick and nauseous, like something
outside of herself. So, we're startin' to understand
where you're at, here, with the discomfort,
and we're startin' to see this. [ Suspenseful chord strikes ] <i> If there's somethin' that</i> <i> you're wantin'
to say to Richel,</i> <i> you could say it
to me, too.</i> And, of course, Brian started
taking offense to that, like, "Hey, come on. Don't do that to<i> her.</i>
Do it to<i> me."</i> <i> Can you tell me</i> <i> who's hurtin' you?</i> And I think the thought
of all the stuff that may have gone on here
started to hit him... [<i> Exhales
forcefully</i> ] ...and he kinda got
off his game. 'Cause we came in. We heard the stories of how
people were mistreated here and our heads
were filled with that. So, we had another team,
Brandon and Mustafa, in the other building, where you had reports
of a 7'0" figure. Now, on evidence review,
we found something on our thermal imaging camera
that is fascinating to us. This is Brandon and Mustafa in the Civil War side
of the building. Now, what we're lookin' at is
this is the fire escape and there's a door here. Now, something appears
in the window. Keep an eye on that window. [ Suspenseful music climbs ] See that? Now watch off to the right. So, our investigators
are on the<i> ground,</i> so, they should not appear
in the reflection at all. So this wasn't
a 7'0" tall<i> figure,</i> but there's no question there's some
activity here. Brian:<i>
I'm hearin' voices
from somewhere.</i> This is also the same place where<i> Brian</i> heard<i> voices</i>
the following night. So, you get a sense of why this is anomalous to us. 100 percent. I absolutely
understand, yeah. So, night 1, we had a lot of stuff
and it was uncomfortable. We came in.
We had almost a prejudice against what happened here. Then, the morning of day 2,
I woke up thinking, "We just don't have<i>
any</i> concrete proof that anything bad ever
happened to anybody here," and Mustafa was able to get into the historical
society with ease and what they were
telling us was that this building
did a lot of good. It was a valuable part
of the community. So, going in night 2, with this kind of information,
we approached it differently and we had a<i> very</i>
different experience, much more calm,
probably what you had when you originally
came in here. [ Suspenseful chord strikes ]
So, on the second night, I was up in the asylum
with Brandon and Mustafa and we were sitting
in the large room, trying to reach out
to the entities, and, when we reviewed
that audio, we caught a voice responding
to a very important question asked by Mustafa,
so we'll play that for you. Mustafa:<i>
Did you feel happy
in this place?</i> [<i> Static crackling</i> ] Yep. Put this on, and you'll feel it coming from the -- -Mm-hmm.
-from the back left. ♪ <i> Did you feel happy
in this place?</i> [<i> Static crackling</i> ] My best guess, it sounds
like a drug out, "Yeah." -That's exactly --
-Is that what it is? Okay. I was trying
to listen. Yeah, which, to me,
that is probably the most important
thing we've captured here. -Mm-hmm.
-You know, "Do you like living here?" "Yeah." Both: Mm-hmm. So, it's a daunting task,
to come in and save a building, and I feel like you've
been here for three years and I feel like you might be
getting at the point where the honeymoon phase
has worn off and you're kind of
maybe thinkin', "Oh, maybe
this is overwhelming." Like you said to us
several times, "This has to work.
This has to work." So I get it. There's a synergy here. In order for this building
to stay standing, people need to want to<i> come</i>
and investigate the paranormal, but, the history of the place
that you were going on, we came in
with that same mentality and, oh, yeah,
we got experiences. We got activity. But at what cost? And we know, with energy,
what you project is oftentimes
what you attract. I was gonna say
that, too. -Yes.
-'Cause your mentality has changed from night 1
to night 2. What I'm saying is that,
if we come in here with the wrong mentality,
we're not helping the entity. We're not furthering
this process and that's starting
to fight back and that's probably why
you're feeling this way, why your team
is feeling a little off, and I think,
if you change that mentality, they'll fall in love
with this place again. -Mm-hmm.
-So I think the goal for you would be: Let's find out
the real history. Let's do it justice. Let's only operate
on the truth. Let's not let our own fear
get in the way of helping the people
who may still be here. We need their cooperation
for this building to survive, so let's do everything we can to give them
the benefit of the doubt and make this work. ♪ [ Poignant tune plays ] They brought things to light
that I didn't even know and I will use that
information going forward and I absolutely think that,
after this experience, we're gonna see
this building change back to how it was
when I first got it. I knew you'd get
to the bottom of it and you literally did. And It settles a lotta things
for me, honestly, so. As paranormal investigators,
we're always learning and what I learned
from this case was not necessarily
something new, but something I already knew, and that's to<i> remember</i> to go
