I'm excited to tell you about this case because it's in Indianapolis, which is a great city. Mm-hmm. But this guy, Craig, reached out to me because he runs this place called the Athenaeum, which is a cultural center that has historic ties to the German community in Indianapolis. Oh, wow. Oh, nice. It's big. It's beautiful, right? It's got, like, a theater in there and a gym and all this stuff. And he loves working there, but he's feeling anxious. So here's Craig, and here's what he sent me. Hey, guys. My name is Craig Mince. I'm the executive director of The Athenaeum Foundation here in Indianapolis. I just started this job about 8 months ago, and ever since I've started, I've had these feelings of dread and just these shivers of fear run through me while I'm working by myself at night. I've asked some of my staff who've been there for years if they've ever experienced anything like this before, and, surprisingly, they all have stories, both from themselves and heard throughout the years, about strange encounters, shadows, footsteps, voices. But when people turn around to look, nobody's there, and, honestly, now I'm afraid. I mean, point blank, I am afraid, as are some of my tenants and my staff. I could really use some help if you guys could come down. I can't even imagine going to work every day and being afraid. Right, like you finally... Yeah. ...get this job you want, but it creeps you out. -Mm-hmm. -You ready? -I'm ready. -Yeah. Grant: Fear of the unknown is a powerful motivator, so that's why, for me, with the paranormal, where the lack of answers can really be terrifying, it's all that more important for us to get to these people, give them answers and provide them the tools to conquer their fear. Okay. Cool. "I work out." Recording... Grant: When you get a case, and the client is afraid of the potential of paranormal activity, the best course of action would be to get in there to separate fact from fiction. The scariest thing is the monster that's out there that you haven't encountered yet. When you gather information and present that to the person, it's now less of an unknown. All right, guys, so we're heading to the Athenaeum. Mustafa, what can you tell us about it? Mustafa: The Athenaeum, it wasn't always called the Athenaeum. Construction started on it in 1893. It used to be called Das Deutsche Haus. The name changed around World War I, but then it kind of grew into an overall cultural center to preserve German culture, German heritage, and now that's what its primary function is today. That's wild. All right. Yeah, so there was one name that kept popping up in my research about the Athenaeum, and that is of a Dr. Knabe. She was a prominent member of the Athenaeum, and, unfortunately, she met a really tragic end. She was murdered not too far away from the building. I also know that she taught health, but I'm going to find out more about her. I managed to arrange a meeting between Michael and Nicole Kobrowski, and they're going to shed some more light on the good doctor for us. Grant: Awesome. Well, it's a big building, a lot of staff, so we want to make sure everyone there is comfortable -- Craig, the staff, and anybody coming in there. -Sweet. -Sounds good. Yeah, 100 percent. [ Faint conversation ] Grant: This is gorgeous. Hey, thanks for having us out. Thanks for coming. You know, we saw your video. Mm-hmm. And we could tell right in your voice that you love this place, but it's uncomfortable for you. Yeah. Like, since moment number one walking into the place, it was just this feeling, right? Like, I just have that feeling that there's somebody there. There's somebody watching. But you haven't really experienced... Myself, no, but I've heard many, many stories. I've -- I've had the feeling, but I've not had the experiences myself. I'd love to have you walk us around... Mm-hmm. ...and show us some of the spots that seem to have the most stories, and that'll help us find the right areas to get information in order to help you out. Definitely. Mince: So this is our foundation office. Grant: Okay. This used to be the building manager's living quarters. So this was actually -- Oh, they don't let you live here? No, no, no, no. I don't live in the building anymore. That's good. Nor would I probably want to right now. The stories in this space -- feet running down the hallway... [ Shuffling ] ...and then a shadow person. Poole: We always had the office door open. I would start seeing almost, like, a shadow, head and shoulders, coming down this ramp, actually. [ Rumbling ] You know, I'd get up and go and look, and there'd be nobody in the offices down that way and nobody in the office down there, and I would call out for anybody I could think of and just be like, "Are you guys up here?" But there was nothing. Richel: Yeah. Mince: The city's oldest theater. Grant: Wow. This building just keeps charming me. So, paranormal-wise... Mm-hmm. ...what do people report seeing in here? A dancing couple that dance in this theater on the dance floor. The woman wears a blue dress. And then that same couple going in and out of the theater on separate occasions have been seen. Johnson: I was coming up the steps and then happened to see a couple come through, and the doors were open, and they walked right through the theater. And I'd say, "Excuse me. Excuse me." They didn't answer, and I said, "Excuse me. We're closed." They just kept right in, so I'm coming up the steps. I just follow them in, and I was in the theater, and they just, all of a sudden, just vanished. Vanished, right there. Vanished. You saw them... Mince: So welcome to the grandma's attic. It was all storage, like, costume storage for the theater's performances downstairs. Although I've not heard any specific stories, like, people just do not want to be up here at night because -- Just discomfort? Yeah, just wild discomfort in this area. And you don't come up here often? No. Honestly, this is the second time I've ever been in this room. So why do you think it's negative? I don't know. I -- Just people feel -- Yeah, just people feel really uncomfortable in this space. Grant: So we really want to be able to help you. A lot of people are having the experiences. You haven't had yours yet. Mm-hmm. But if we can take some time and examine what's going on here and get to the bottom of it, I believe that will give you some comfort. Yeah. The building is yours, guys. We'll do our very best for you, okay? It's an honor. Yep. Thank you very much. Thank you, Craig. Over the years, I've received countless calls for help from people just terrified at the possibility of the paranormal being there. The scariest thing in the world is the unknown, so what you're trying to do is basically take this huge cloud of uncertainty that they've filled their head with and trim it down to something they can process. It's about helping them understand what's there and the reality of it rather than what it was in their head. Mustafa: I started going online, doing some research, and, as it turns out, there were two people who are members of the community who are very familiar with this building and have spent a lot of time in it, and they wrote an entire book on Dr. Knabe. I want to know about Dr. Knabe. What was her impact here at Das Deutsche Haus? Michael: She was a educator. She was a doctor, and she taught here at the Normal College of the North American Gymnast Union. She also, as a German immigrant, of course, spent a lot of time here in this building... ...and went to events and dances and stuff like that as well. So it's safe to say that she loved this place, right? Yeah. All right. And she was a member of the community. She lived a couple blocks away. So October 24th, 1911, her personal assistant, Katherine MacPherson, had picked up some shoes at a local store, and then she went over to Dr. Knabe's apartment a couple of blocks away. She went ahead and went into her bedroom, and there she saw... [ Door opens, creaks ] ...Dr. Knabe on the bed. She had had her throat slit. [ Slicing ] And her nightgown was pulled up. Her head was so far back on the bed, it looked like she had been decapitated, but she had been cut very deeply twice, and her throat had bled out. She had the windows open, and there was no sign of forced entry. So whoever committed this was probably somebody that she knew, correct? That was the state's case, that it was somebody that she knew. And who might that be? It took 2 years for a grand jury to indict Dr. William B. Craig, and Craig was charged with murder because they were supposed to have been in a relationship, and it was his way of getting rid of her. The trial only lasted for 9 days because the judge thought, after 9 days, there wasn't quite enough evidence connecting Dr. Craig to the murder. You know, after she died, she was actually seen here a couple weeks later by someone in the building. [ Vehicle rumbles ] So people claimed that, in the weeks following her death, that they actually saw her... Mm-hmm. ...Dr. Knabe, here in the building? Yeah. Mustafa: Learning these new details about Dr. Knabe's death is absolutely shocking. All right? I had no idea she met such a gruesome end, and the fact that she's been reported to have been on this site is amazing. It gives us a lot to work with and a great starting point for our investigation. Brandon: All right, guys. Let's do this thing. Mustafa: It turns out that there were sightings of Dr. Knabe weeks after her death here on the premises, so I'm interested in pursuing the possible thread of Dr. Knabe. I couldn't agree more. We can hopefully get to the bottom of it tonight. Yep. Absolutely. Mm-hmm. So let's do this. Brandon and Mustafa, head up to the attic. Let's see if we can get to the bottom of the creepy feelings up there. Let's say Brian, Richel, and I, we need to hit those office areas. -Kristen: Okay. -Daryl: Sounds good. -Grant: Cool with that? -Yeah. Sounds good. All right, guys. Let's do this. Let's go lights out. [ Switches clicking ] Brandon: Mustafa and I are up here in grandma's attic, and we are going to do a EMF sweep to see if there's high electromagnetic fields in this place. If this area had high EMF, it could explain some of these feelings of dread that people have have been experiencing. So not really any high EMF here. It can't be EMF. No. It's not EMF. We might as well do an EVP session and see if there's something up here. Let's give it a shot. Let's, you know, see if anything happens. My name is Mustafa. This is Brandon. We love the Athenaeum. We love this building. If you're here with us, please feel free to come in the room. If you could touch that box on the floor or that white egg-shaped figure, we'll know you're here with us. These devices here will not harm you in any way. Can you make that blue light go off just to let us know that you are here? [ Beeps ] -Okay. That's great. Thank you for being here with us. Can you do it one more time, just so we know, to be sure? We want to make sure that this is legitimate so we can try and base some communication with us, so... [ Beeps ] Okay. Well, it seems like you're here with us. [ Lowered voice ] Let's see if it's Dr. Knabe. Is this a man or a woman that we're speaking with? If you're a woman, can you make that go off? [ Beeps ] Just to be sure, so you're a female? [ Beeps ] Oh, my gosh. Mustafa: Are we speaking with a man right now?? If you're a woman, can you make this go off again, please? Like you've been... [ Beeps ] Okay, wonderful. I mean, that is multiple verifications. Yep. That's the third time we've done that. Mm-hmm. So Brandon and I are up here in grandma's attic, and it seems like we established contact with a woman. Since 1911, when Dr. Knabe was murdered, people have reported seeing her spirit here in the building. Now, what we're trying to establish is whether or not she's the entity that we're communicating with. Do you teach people gymnastics here? We heard this was a great center for physical fitness and gymnastic. Brandon: That's a no. So in doing this EVP session, we're not going to come out and ask if the possible entity is Dr. Knabe. We don't want any false positives, so we're going to use a technique called control questions. We're going to ask pointed questions just to make sure we're not receiving random answers. Do you teach people about health, maybe? [ Beeping ] Whoa. All right, dude, I'm getting chills right now. So you -- you're a teacher? [ Beeping ] Is there a doctor present here with us? [ Beeping ] Yep. Yes. [ Clicks tongue ] Man. What? What? I mean, we know that... I know. I know. I don't know how to approach the history. I mean, we have to bring it up. Get on with it, dude. Look at this. I know, but what are we -- I mean, what I'm really worried about right now is that the history of this individual that we believe we're addressing right now is a kind of grisly one, and I don't want to be disrespectful to the entity by just, like, bringing that up. [ Breathes sharply ] Well, we don't have to bring that part up, but just you talking to her... -Yeah. -You know? I don't think we need to bring it up. Do you try and communicate with people in this building? Have you tried communicating with Craig, or do you know of Craig? Brandon: You know, I really think that we were in contact with Dr. Knabe tonight. We had some great responses. When we asked if this was a woman, we received a response. When we asked if it was a man, we did not. We also learned that she was a teacher and that she was a health teacher. I think this is a really great start to the night. Grant: This is Craig's office right here. Richel: This is Brian, Grant, and Richel up in the office space. The claims in here are that Craig feels uncomfortable, like he's being watched. Also, the assistant would see a shadow figure pass by. I think we get someone there in that corner right there, we would have the most ability to have them come this way and this way. Both: Mm-hmm. You good to go? Richel: Yeah. All right. We're right here, Richel. Okay. My name's Richel. My friends Brian and Grant are down in the office area. We just wanted to come and say hi and try to talk to you. We have some equipment here right next to me on the floor. If you get close to it or you tap it, it'll make lights go off. -Grant: Richel? -Yeah. So we're not getting anything here. -No. -All right. I say we get out of here and switch things up a little bit. -Yeah? -Brian: Yeah. Grant: I'm going to go meet up with Kristen and Daryl. Daryl: This is Daryl, Kristen, and Grant in the theater. So the claims in the theater are seeing a couple coming in hand-in-hand, a couple dancing, and also leaving the theater. This couple appears so real that workers that have worked here are yelling at them to get out, so I'm hoping we get something on camera tonight with that. All right. So you want to hold the thermal? Yes. I'm going to hold onto the thermal. Okay. All right, I'm going to put this data logger right where the experience should happen. They should be dancing right here, yeah? My name is Grant. -That's Kristen. -Hello. You have Daryl up there. We have a device here in the middle of the room. You just simply touch the device to light up those lights. We put that device there because there's a lovely couple that likes to dance in that spot. [ Click ] Grant: Let me try something. We don't speak German, but some of our devices can speak German for us. [ Female voice speaks German ] Ah. That says, "Do you like to dance?" Okay. If you touch the box, lights will appear. [ Female voice translates into German ] All right. Huh. Grant: So far, we haven't made any contact. We haven't got anything to respond with us. You guys want to stop? Yeah. Tonight started out pretty strong with Brandon and Mustafa interacting with an entity that we think might be Dr. Knabe, but we can't be sure. Daryl: What a night. But since then, it's been pretty quiet. -Hey. -Hey. What's up, guys? -Hey. -Hi. -Hello, hello. I tell you what, man. We got in that theater. I explained the equipment very clearly. We had the data logger there, right where the couple danced. We brought out translation software. We were speaking English and German, and we got nothing. I say let's pack up. Let's get out of here and... Let's do it. All right. ...come back tomorrow. -All right? -Let's do it. Okay, great. Tomorrow night, we're going to really have to step it up, but I have this big idea that I think will really help draw out an intelligent entity, but it's going to require all hands on deck, and it's unlike anything we've ever done before. Mustafa: Brandon and I had a great night in grandma's attic. We established contact with an entity we believe could be Dr. Knabe. Is there a doctor present here with us? [ Beeps ] Brandon: Yep. Yes. Then the night slowed down dramatically, and when I woke up this morning, I really didn't know where the investigation stood, but, thankfully, Grant gave the team a call, and he said that he has a big idea planned for us tonight, and when Grant Wilson's got an idea, let me tell you, that's cause to be fricking excited. Grant: All right, guys. Night two. Besides Brandon and Mustafa, we got zero interaction. So I thought, "You know what? If I'm an intelligent entity here, what's really going to get my attention?" This place was designed to entertain, right? So what we need is entertainment, so I've arranged for a string quartet... Shut up. ...to come here tonight and play in the theater. That's cool. Okay? When Grant told us that he was getting a string quartet up there in the auditorium, I was like, "Okay, this is different." I want us all in there. We can set the mood, but we're going to hit it with equipment. Brandon: Mm-hmm. Brandon, start thinking about how you want to arrange this. Oh, yeah. And let's see if we can get some interaction. People just kind of get in a rut when they investigate. They ask the same questions, the same techniques, and, you know, they get the same results. Okay, everyone grab something. So sometimes you really have to think outside the box. We're going to try the fog machine experiment. If you just see that fog moving around, you'll be able to tell that something is there moving. [ Rustling ] Check that out. Voices? There's a benefit to mixing things up and trying something new. Gentlemen, thank you. Thank you. Follow me. We'll head in. I will get you up on stage. We want to kind of sporadically have these devices out here in the crowd just as if we're spectators. Wherever's comfortable for you. Brandon: We're going to be setting up data loggers, EMF detectors, TriField meters throughout the theater where they've seen this couple dancing. On the balcony, we're going to set up a Spartan trap camera in the exact area where the eyewitness has seen the shadow figure. So this is the most tech I've ever used in one investigation run, and we're hoping that, once these musicians start to play, something happens. [ Instruments tuning ] The claim in here is of a couple dancing, so what we're trying to do is we're trying to create an environment where they would dance. We're giving these entities a gift. If they're here, they'll appreciate it, and we can build that relationship a little bit better. TriField? Just thinking in case they come across there. This is cool. This is cool. Grant: All right. My team, are you ready? Musicians, at your leisure. [ Playing classical music ] [ Music rumbles, vibrates on equipment ] How can you come -- How can you hear that and not come in here? God, you can just feel it. It's so good. [ Classical music continues ] [ Faint screech ] [ Music stops ] [ Music resumes ] [ Music stops ] [ Music resumes ] [ Music stops ] [ Panting ] [ Music resumes, stops ] [ Music resumes, stops ] [ Panting ] [ Music resumes ] Yeah. Grant: A black shadow just walked right this way. Mustafa: Are you serious? Yeah. That's why I ran up here. The only way down would be there, and if someone went through there, there would be a motion light, but there's no one here. [ Classical music playing ] [ Device clicks ] [ Door clatters ] I thought I heard something. What did you hear? I heard some creaks, but I thought it was coming from up above me, and then that's why, when you came running, I was like, "Oh, my God. I can't be the only one." -Really? -Yeah, yeah, yeah. I had no idea you experienced anything. I was literally sitting there, and I was like, "If I were to go and watch this performance," like, I'm just -- I was -- You'd be up here! Yeah. That's what I was -- and I was -- That's why I was looking up here the whole time. That's crazy. Up on the balcony, there's a door that goes to the offices where Craig's office is, and there's a railing in front of that, and on the railing, something moved quickly to the left, but, unbeknownst to me, Mustafa was hearing somebody moving up there, which makes tons of sense. I mean, that's where we had these reports of a shadow figure moving over there and turning on the light. Hey, Grant. I brought you a data logger. Oh, sweet. Let's do it here because this is the only place it could have been. Mustafa: Something gnarly, dude. -[ Exhales ] -We might have video of it because we have a camera on it. -Where was the camera? -Trap camera is right there. -...right there. -Sweet. Let me see where that's pointed. It looks like something's moving up there. [ Playing classical waltz ] It would have been right here in front of this, not on the ramp. Richel: Guys, I see something over there. What's she saying? She's saying something's over here. Mustafa: Richel, what'd you see? You feel like it's going down the stairs, correct? Over. Okay, guys. Guys, I just got Richel. She's telling us she's seeing something going up and down the stairs over here. Over here? Yeah. The stairway. The stairwell over here where I am or the one closer to you? Oh, it just... Hey, hey, hey. Thank you. Over. You've done nothing wrong. We did this performance for you. Yeah, yeah. Go grab another... I'll be right back. I'm going to grab a logger. We were hoping you'd come, and that's why we were so excited and we ran toward you. You've done nothing wrong. Please just tell us what you think of the performance. [ Classical music continues ] This just goes back out to the theater. Oh, my gosh. That was crazy. That was cool, man. Let's go back to where we were before. Oh, man. That's wild. Oh. Hits, hits, look it. Oh, you're getting activity here? Yeah. It just happened. Just happened. We had temperature and pressure. Do you think it's trying to come over here and get a better look? They're attracted to the music. They were going to the music. It's been going off the whole time. Your data logger's going off? Yes. Pressure has changed? And the EMF has gone off. Brandon: Hey, guys. Check this out. So just when this song started, data logger A is going nuts, nuts. Wait, and A is located over there? It didn't do anything the first two songs? Nothing. When this song started, boom, crazy. Data logger C has been going off too. -We had this one. -Yep. [ Music ends ] Mustafa and I came back here, and Brandon came up and said that these data loggers hadn't been doing anything until they started playing this one particular song, and then they started -- A and C started going crazy. [ Classical music plays ] So, clearly, that's a favorite of whatever might be here. Gentlemen, thank you. The last song you played, would you mind playing that one again? [ Classical music playing ] Daryl: What was that? I -- dude, I just swear I just saw somebody standing up there. Really? Daryl: The equipment hasn't went back off yet, but I keep seeing something up there. [ Classical waltz playing ] I just saw something. You saw it too? -Yeah. -Okay. You saw it too. What, you guys seeing stuff? We're seeing something up there again. It's right there. And, Grant, it looks like a shadowy gray figure. It looks like a hand grabbing the rail and going down the rail. -We've seen it several times. -Okay. -We have a trap camera up there. -Okay. So if there's anything registering, we should be getting it. She saw it too, so... You both saw it at the same time? We -- Yes. I was standing there, and I kept seeing something by this one door. It was, like, a pulsating, like, grayish form up there. I'm not sure what that was, but it kind of goes with what everybody else is saying. They were seeing shadow figures. A couple of the other team seen them as well going across the balcony when this song was playing, so it was pretty interesting. [ Classical waltz continues ] This is wild, man. You can't fight the waltz. I mean, it's impossible. No, you can't. [ Music ends ] [ Applause ] Thank you, gentlemen. Mustafa: Thanks, guys. Beautiful. It worked. I think it worked. We had some strange things happen. I think this has been a success. I think Brandon and Mustafa should stay here because they had the interaction with what might be this doctor. She was a big fan of the musical performances here too. -Perfect. -Yeah, yeah. Perfect, so let's not let it die down too much before we start that communication. Okay. Everyone else, let's get out of their way. Let's do it. Gentlemen, thank you very much. -Thank you. -Thank you. [ Laughter, applause ] -Excellent work, guys. -Thank you. How about we set it on the stage? That makes sense. All right. Let's do that. Last night, we had this really amazing interaction up in grandma's attic. Yeah. Is there a doctor present here with us? [ Beeps ] Brandon: Yep. And we concluded that, you know, if there was an entity there, it may have been Dr. Knabe. If the woman that we spoke to last night, if you're here, can you please touch that box? So what we did -- what we're going to -- Yep. It's going off. Okay. It's going off. Pressure spikes. Thank you so much. Are you Dr. Knabe? If you're -- Yes. It is, dude. Okay. [ Exhales ] Man, this is crazy. So let's make this clear again -- Is this Dr. Knabe? Okay, it went off. Thank you so much. Thank you. Thank you, ma'am. Brandon: Right now, we're dealing with Dr. Knabe, I believe. We're getting direct results. Yeah. We know that there's been a manifestation of a woman in gray. Here's an interesting thing. Yeah. In Europe, there's been a phenomena that's been talked about for forever. It's called gray ladies. They are apparitions of women that were murdered by their lover. Dr. William B. Craig was charged with murder because they were supposed to have been in a relationship. All right, guys, it's been a awesome night. Let's get the lights up. Let's get -- let's get out of here. [ Switches click, electricity crackles ] Grant: So we just wrapped the investigation here at the Athenaeum, and what a ride. As a team, we took it to the next level. Bringing in that string quartet, it was a beautiful, wonderful, unique situation that will remain a highlight of my career. It wasn't just pleasant. It worked. We're happy. We're excited. But it's only half over. Who knows what's lying in the evidence review? Would you mind playing that one again? Oh, there we go. Black shadow just walked right this way. Are you serious? All right, dude, I'm getting chills. So I am getting ready to review evidence. A drop in temperature, what? Auditorium was just spot-on last night. It really got intense there. We had a Spartan camera upstairs shooting down the hallway. There it was again. Trap camera is right there. Spartan camera was tripped by something. We haven't had it happen yet. This is the first time. Let me see where that's pointed. But the really interesting thing is the fact that you can hear what sounds like footsteps, so I have to show this to Grant. That is amazing. Grant: Craig, it's good to see you again. Mince: Good to see you as well. Yes. So you reached out to us because this is a job that you love. -Mm-hmm. -But there's an aspect to it that you really didn't know you were getting into. These stories you've heard from people about activity in the building is something that's got you on edge. Definitely. So our main goal was to figure out if there was activity in here. Mm-hmm. And if there was, help you feel comfortable. So we had three different teams out. Mm-hmm. Brandon and Mustafa were up in grandma's attic, and they looked for electromagnetic fields up there, which can make people feel creeped out. It's pretty shielded up there. I didn't find anything out of the ordinary with the EMF. So we decided to do an EVP session. Yeah. And we had some pretty interesting results we'd like to show you. Is this a man or a woman that we're speaking with? If you're a woman, can you make that go off? [ Beeps ] Just to be sure, so you're a female? [ Beeps ] [ Gasps ] Now, what's interesting about that, we even asked at one point, "Are you a man?" It didn't go off. Now, these may seem oddly specific, but we had a reason for this line of questioning. Yeah, so at the time we initially met with you, Craig, our researcher, Mustafa, was looking into the history of this building. Mm-hmm. And this is where things get really interesting. Mustafa came across the story of a female doctor who's reportedly been seen in this building for over 100 years, and the woman was named Dr. Knabe. Have you heard that name before? Unh-unh. She was a very dynamic woman. She came over from Germany. She learned English so she could go to school. Mm-hmm. And she loved this place. Uh-huh. And she would teach here. They found her a couple blocks away in her apartment murdered, and, to this day, no one knows who did it. Grant: So, armed with the information Mustafa had gathered about Dr. Knabe, he and Brandon asked a series of questions to try to figure out if they were in fact in communication with her up in grandma's attic. Is there a doctor present here with us? [ Beeps ] -Yep. So we thought, "Holy cow. This makes a lot of sense. This woman, who loved this place, murdered in her prime, would absolutely be reaching out, if anybody. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. She's smart. She's dynamic, you know, and she was wronged. Mm-hmm. So day two, I started thinking about the power of music. I mean, to me, it's concentrated emotion. Mm-hmm. So we got a string quartet. We brought them in here, and we had them specifically play German music, including waltz. [ Playing classical waltz ] These reports of this couple coming in dancing, how are they going to resist this? Yeah. So we kind of just lit the whole place up, and hopefully we're going to be able to document something during this quartet playing. Yeah. So they're playing... Mm-hmm. ...and I noticed, right outside your office door, it looked like something was blocking the railing, and then it walked to the left. I shot like a rocket, and Mustafa took off after me, and he told me that he was hearing noises from up there. There's no one here. Couldn't find anybody. As we come out there... ...Richel, our investigator, was pointing. She was seeing shadows and seeing figures up there, as well as our investigator Brian. Mm-hmm. I'm sitting down here on the first tier. I keep seeing movement up here. There's something that keeps pacing in front of that door up there. I saw this pulsating gray or white mass between the doorway and this rail here. Wow. Now, what's really interesting about what Daryl is saying here is the grayish hue he saw, and there's a phenomena that's been talked about by eyewitnesses for hundreds of years called gray lady phenomena. Okay. These women that are supposedly manifesting, these gray ladies, are murdered by their lover. And so you have a history of Dr. Knabe, you know, being murdered, and there's speculation that it was a lover of hers that committed the crime. Wow. So while all of this was going on, Brandon pointed out we had a trap camera up there. Okay. This is one of those things you put in the forest... Okay, yeah. ...and it doesn't record until it detects something. But this is the very first time since we've been using these cameras that we got footage without us in it. It only did that in the area where we were seeing things. We also hear things. It sounds like someone is standing right by the camera. Okay. So go ahead and play that. [ Static, classical music playing ] So you can see how it starts out really dark. Dark. That gives me chills. So we were all just elated with how that went, and Brandon and Mustafa, who had originally made contact with this woman, started to reach out. So let's just make this clear again -- Are you Dr. Knabe? If you're -- Yes. It is. -That's cool, right? -Resounding yes. That's pretty amazing. It's not random. It is very deliberate. It's very, like, answering the question. Mm-hmm. Nothing to really be afraid of. It's just another person. The more human you see them as, the better. Yeah. I mean, this building is very aware of its history and very proud of it. All an entity is is someone who actually is part of that history that you can still interact with, which, to me, I think you'd be eager to do. Yeah. And so anybody that comes through here is probably coming through here because they loved the place. Definitely. And they want to enjoy it again. They want to watch a string quartet play onstage. Mm-hmm. When you pass on, are you going to go to the places that you hated or the places that you loved? Yeah, you loved. One thing, suggestion I would make is to try to continue to reach out to Dr. Knabe. -Okay. -I would suggest, if possible, finding a way to include... Yeah. ...her story in this building a little. Yeah, definitely. Well, I'll tell you what. You'll be able to reach out to us. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate. Definitely. We can't thank you enough for calling us into this amazing space, be able to meet you... Mm-hmm. ...and to be able to meet Dr. Knabe. This has just been an honor. Well, the honor is all ours. Thank you, guys, so much for coming. Well, I hope we did help. Definitely. The fact that they were able to narrow it down to one specific story, one specific person, like, it caught me off guard. I didn't really think that that was what was going to happen. Thank you. Let's get out of here. Thank you. Yep. Mince: Even though she met a very tragic end, she came back to the place that she felt like she was at her happiest. You know, what was this feeling of dread and fear has now become this sense of excitement and intrigue. Now I feel comforted that there is somebody there. Grant: I think it's important, whenever possible, to tell somebody's story. If somebody loved and was instrumental to a location, they should be honored for that. Imagine what it would be like to go to a place that you loved and supported and see that they put up a monument or a display in your honor. That, to me, is the ultimate way to honor somebody.
